[00:00:55] Speaker B: Media it's time. Time for the burning river forcecast. I'm sailing away.
Set an open course for the Virgin Sea.
That's right. We are literally in the middle of the ocean, having a kick ass time on the inaugural Cleveland Browns fan cruise. The food is incredible and essentially endless. The pools are beautiful and warm. The weather has been spectacular for us coming from Cleveland to 80 degrees and sunny every day. So we're out here having a great time, rubbing elbows with some of our favorite alums. And unfortunately, I had to look at Red hot Ronnie's jams and say, dude.
[00:01:55] Speaker A: We have to get to work.
[00:01:56] Speaker B: Because if you haven't noticed, the NFL is ablaze with moves. Brown's included in that conversation and in a big way. Oh, and by the way, we've got a studio full of people chopping at the bit to tell us about the fan cruise, who's coming, who's going, and who may still be on the way. We'll break it all down for you next on the Burning river sports cast.
We're done for the night.
[00:02:27] Speaker A: All we do is eat.
[00:02:29] Speaker C: The pizza place is open to, like, 03:00 a.m. That's incredible.
[00:02:32] Speaker A: Kenny closed the buffet by himself last night.
[00:02:36] Speaker B: Sure did.
[00:02:37] Speaker A: I don't know if that speaks to how good football is here in general, because everybody likes to talk about Texas, but Ohio can WHOOP most, mostly anybody's ass. Are you shitting me? And now you've got Russell Wilson. I like to give him shit. I've said all along. Russell Wilson is washed, and I stand behind that. But a washed Russell Wilson is still head and shoulders better than Kenny Pickett at the best he's ever played.
Kirk Cousins is undefeated when it comes to new contracts.
[00:03:04] Speaker B: Yeah, I just call him Kirk contracts.
[00:03:07] Speaker C: Kurt the main man.
Know I'm on call every now and then for work.
Oftentimes.
[00:03:15] Speaker A: You've been called in during the show.
[00:03:16] Speaker C: Sometimes, yeah, I've left the show.
I don't know what happens after that, but I've heard it's still good.
[00:03:26] Speaker A: Listen, I know you could talk about mushy fries and old meat all day.
[00:03:30] Speaker B: I love old meat.
[00:03:33] Speaker D: If they get rid of Nick Chubb, you're going to have the whole fan base riot. I will tell you that. He is a fan favorite and he is the heart of the offense.
[00:03:46] Speaker B: For comparison's sake, the independence of the sea. Our boat is 1112ft long and 184ft wide.
[00:03:53] Speaker A: Wow, it's pretty big.
[00:03:55] Speaker B: Now, thinking about this historically, basically average overall. Historically, the Titanic, which I'm not supposed to stay on a cruise ship, so don't tell anyone, was 883ft long and 92ft wide.
[00:04:08] Speaker A: Not even close.
[00:04:09] Speaker B: So about half the width of this boat that we're on.
[00:04:13] Speaker A: Oh, our ship's so big. Oh, yeah, right.
[00:04:25] Speaker B: Welcome into the Burning river sports guest, presented by tapin'media and brought to you by seaside events, is the official cruise event provider of the Cleveland Browns and organizer of the Browns fan cruise. I'm Kenny Thunder, seated beside the man who played Bruce Willis'wife in the 6th sense. He's getting so red and so hot this week. Red hot Ronnie jams. Y'all remember that? We figured it made more sense that his wife was just giving him the silent treatment for like a year, rather than the obvious, which he was just dead the whole time.
[00:04:49] Speaker C: She's getting serious.
[00:04:51] Speaker B: Was not talking to him.
[00:04:52] Speaker A: Well, Bruce pissed me off, so I would not talk to him.
[00:04:55] Speaker B: He wouldn't talk to her ever again. On the board today, the man who brought sexy back all by himself, the big bone. Man bone. What is the secret to your lascivious allure?
[00:05:03] Speaker C: I drink a lot of water and I use a lot of lotion on my face.
[00:05:06] Speaker A: Nice.
[00:05:07] Speaker B: Back to red hot. Where can our listeners find all the burning river sports guests content, including our exclusive interviews with Browns backers and former Cleveland Browns players? Brought to you by the official cruise event. Brighter the Cleveland Browns sees out events.

[00:06:16] Speaker B: The inaugural.
[00:06:17] Speaker A: The inaugural Cleveland Browns fan cruise. That's right. We are recording on the ship and we are having a mean.
[00:06:26] Speaker C: It's so much fun.
[00:06:27] Speaker A: It's pretty wild. I just was saying that and I.
[00:06:30] Speaker B: Could feel the boat, so I literally need sleep. Kenny's going to die because it's just an endless party. Like a gauntlet of party all day every.
[00:06:41] Speaker A: You're not a young man anymore. I'm not a young man, but yeah. In the first half of the show today, we're going to go through our season staple, the Burning river rundown. In this segment, we will go through Cleveland Browns News and there's a ton of it. AFC North News and there's a ton of it and free agency news around the league, and there is a ton of it.
[00:07:00] Speaker B: So much news.
[00:07:01] Speaker A: And then in the second half of the show, we will have two interviews here in our remote studio. The first interview, Robert Hamilton from the Naples Brownsbackers. We interviewed Robert earlier in the year, but he happened to win a special prize today while we were on the fan cruise. So we'll talk about that a little bit. He'll also be showing off their championship belt that their chapter won for chapter of the year. Yes, and obviously he's going to be telling us all about his experience on the Cleveland Browns fan, Carus. And our final interview will be with John Greco and big play Gary Barnage. That's right. We got him back in the studio. Well, the remote studio.
And they will talk about some of the moves that have been made by the Browns and the rest of the AFC north. And again, they will tell us about their experiences thus far on the Browns fan cruise.
[00:07:46] Speaker B: Love it.
[00:07:47] Speaker A: So make sure you apply your sunscreen because the burning river sports cast is as hot as the sun in the Caribbean and been known to deliver some serious burns. Let's get things started with the burning river news story of the week.
You know what the news story of the week is?
[00:08:11] Speaker C: No.
[00:08:12] Speaker B: You want to know what is it?
[00:08:13] Speaker A: The news story of the week is that we're on the Cleveland Browns fan cruise. I don't give a shit about the news.
[00:08:19] Speaker B: Oh, we're here.
[00:08:20] Speaker A: So instead of doing that, it is.
[00:08:22] Speaker B: Hard to get the news out here.
[00:08:23] Speaker A: It is tougher. But, guys, do you have anything specifically that you want to point out before we get started with the show that you've really, really enjoyed on the Cleveland Browns fan cruise?
[00:08:35] Speaker B: Look, I like big boats, and this is a very big boat.
[00:08:39] Speaker A: I thought you were going somewhere else with that.
[00:08:40] Speaker B: I like big boats, and I cannot lie.
Look, we've been fortunate because we are involved in a lot of the activities, so we get to kind of see the behind the scenes and the in front of the scenes and all the scenes with the players. We've had dinner with players, and just seeing how they've been able to interact with the fans on the ship actually has been probably the coolest thing because I think especially if you meet an athlete today that's like a modern day player, they just don't have time generally to kind of just sit and chitchat with fans. The whole point of this whole event is for Browns alums to sit and chit chat with fans. So they're literally here for these guys. And it's just been a ton of fun. I mean, my personal favorite part of this whole thing is that I can eat from sun up to sundown.
[00:09:32] Speaker A: Oh, yeah, we've had second dinner, third dinner, fourth dinner, dinner, 6th dinner.
[00:09:39] Speaker B: Basically, once we're done for the night, all we do is eat until we go to bed.
[00:09:42] Speaker C: The pizza place is open to, like, 03:00 a.m. That's incredible.
[00:09:45] Speaker A: Kenny closed the buffet by himself last night.
[00:09:49] Speaker B: Sure did.
[00:09:51] Speaker A: What about you, bone?
[00:09:53] Speaker C: Oh, here's one. We've already taken in two shows, so the last two nights, we went to the first night, we did a comedy show, which was hilarious. That was good.
[00:10:01] Speaker A: That was good. That guy was good.
[00:10:04] Speaker C: I got to do the illusionist show. It was kind of like a magic show last night, and that guy was hilarious, too. And some of the stuff he did, I can't explain. I was, like, trying to watch as hardcore as I could. I'm like, all right, so how's he doing it, you know, it's fake, but.
[00:10:17] Speaker A: It'S like sleight of hand was just too quick.
[00:10:19] Speaker B: Exactly.
[00:10:19] Speaker C: He was good. So it was just interesting. And you have a whole room full of people from different angles, too. Watching this guy.
[00:10:25] Speaker B: That's what's crazy.
[00:10:26] Speaker C: Everybody magic.
[00:10:27] Speaker B: It's like you have like 1000 people watching you and no one can see how you can't see it.
[00:10:34] Speaker E: Right.
[00:10:34] Speaker A: Can't see it. You're too sneaky.
[00:10:36] Speaker C: Yeah, he was good. This individual was on some different talk show hosts and stuff throughout his career.
[00:10:43] Speaker A: He was on the talk show host?
[00:10:45] Speaker B: No, he was sitcoms.
[00:10:47] Speaker C: I meant to say sitcoms. Yeah.
[00:10:51] Speaker A: Reels off the number of sitcom hosts he was on.
[00:10:54] Speaker C: They had a little montage of them on the video, so it was neat.
[00:10:58] Speaker A: Yeah, no, that's cool. And you mentioned the shows. One that I'm not 100% sure if we're going to be able to get to just because there's so much damn fun to be had with the Cleveland Browns and the alumni and everything.
Greece is showing.
[00:11:13] Speaker B: When is that?
[00:11:13] Speaker A: I don't know. I haven't even had a chance to look it up because, like I said, it's been a nonstop party for Cleveland Browns fans. But I do. If we get a chance to, I would like to go see grease. That would be phenomenal.
My favorite thing so far?
[00:11:27] Speaker B: Nobody asked.
[00:11:28] Speaker A: Oh, yeah, it's my segment.
[00:11:30] Speaker B: Britt. Hi, Ronnie. What's your favorite so far?
[00:11:32] Speaker A: Oh, thank you.
My favorite so far is actually probably exactly what I said I was looking forward to was every time I walk anywhere in this ship, I'm like. I'm just overwhelmed with how large it is. This is insane. It's like a floating city.
[00:11:46] Speaker B: It's very big.
[00:11:47] Speaker A: Like, legitimately, when we were in the Bahamas and we're going over the bridge to get from one part of the island to the other part of the island because they're kind of like two islands. I don't really know. It might be two islands connected. Whatever the case is, the bridges go really far up so most of the ships can go underneath. And then you look over and the cruise ships are still like, I don't know, six stories taller than they are. And it's just insane to see.
[00:12:09] Speaker B: I don't think they call them islands here. I think they call them keys.
[00:12:12] Speaker A: You're a key Iroquois.
Okay. Cherokee, but yeah. So that's it for the burning river news story of the week. The fact that we're here and you're not, and it feels bad for you and that'll take us to the burning river rundown. First off, the browns trade a fifth and 6th round.
[00:12:52] Speaker B: Let's take a step back.
[00:12:53] Speaker A: Okay.
[00:12:54] Speaker B: We drove down to the port of Miami in a monsoon for 20 straight hours.
[00:13:01] Speaker A: Oh, yeah.
[00:13:02] Speaker B: Because we had all of our equipment with it.
[00:13:03] Speaker A: We even stopped somewhere the night before, and it still was, like, the entire time, overnight, everything. It was just a torrential downpour.
[00:13:10] Speaker B: Terrible. But when I say, like, Brown's news has been breaking literally since we got in the car. It has been breaking literally since we started the trek down here.
[00:13:20] Speaker A: Nothing happened for three weeks before that.
[00:13:22] Speaker B: Nothing. Not a single damn thing happened.
[00:13:24] Speaker A: And then all of a sudden, they're like, you're going on the Browns fan.
[00:13:27] Speaker B: Cruise, and the Browns are like, now's.
[00:13:29] Speaker A: The time to make moves, making us look bad. Thanks a lot, Cleveland Browns. F. No, they're our team. We won't. No, let's not go there.
[00:13:37] Speaker B: F them all.
[00:13:38] Speaker A: But anyways, the Browns last, as we were on our way down here, I think, actually, I came out of a rest area. Yeah. The news broke that the Browns trade fifth and a 6th round pick in this year's draft for Jerry Judy. So let's talk about that for a second. The Cleveland Browns have been after him for two years now. They finally got him. He's going to be officially our number two receiver behind Amari Cooper, which to me, I'm really excited about this because besides the fact that we have a legitimate number two now, that is very good. You get to move Elijah Moore out of that outside position and into the slot on the other side, inside to the slot. And so it kind of is more of like his true position, and you can use him the way that he's probably meant to be used rather than trying to force him to be a number two guy.
And I just think it makes all around. It makes the receiving core so much stronger.
[00:14:33] Speaker B: Yeah, this was a first round draft pick, good size six, 1200 pounds. Played Alabama, so, you know, he's battle tested. Those guys are pretty. Things just didn't work out for him in Denver. And to be honest, Denver has been a shit show. So I don't necessarily blame Jerry Judy for not living up to expectations there for the Browns. You basically get him for almost nothing.
I mean, Andrew Barry played this out well because we knew that they were interested in him, but the price was just too high. Up until first year, they were interested in him.
[00:15:07] Speaker A: They wanted, like, a second rounder for him or like a late first. And I'm like, what?
[00:15:11] Speaker B: Yeah. Well, they expected him to be know Calvin Johnson coming out.
[00:15:15] Speaker A: He wasn't, but he's still like, I.
[00:15:17] Speaker B: Don'T need him to be Calvin Johnson. I need him to be Jerry Judy and be good.
And the Browns desperately needed number two. Diamond Peoples Jones was the closest thing we had, and he was nowhere near. So to your point, can we move on?
[00:15:30] Speaker A: I'm not talking to you. I'm talking to, like, I've heard so much talk since that trade about why would we get rid of DPJ. Like, the dude literally went to Detroit and had, like, one catch the rest of the year.
[00:15:39] Speaker B: I understand he's garbage, but I'm just saying he's as close as we came to having a legitimate number two.
[00:15:45] Speaker A: I'm just excited to finally close the book on that. And everybody stopped complaining about it. And this is what a number two looks like, not DPJ.
[00:15:51] Speaker B: And this gives you kind of a number one and a one a in terms of being on the outside, because both these guys now with Amari and Jerry Judy, can scare defenses, can take the top off. We were just talking about this in the car, literally on the way down, was that Jerry Judy and Amari Cooper are tops in the league over the last, like, two years for both the.
[00:16:14] Speaker A: Top ten, aren't they?
[00:16:15] Speaker B: Touchdown receptions over 40 yards. So defenses have to respect that. And to your point, that puts other players like Elijah Moore in a better position to be productive because we aren't trying to gadget him into yards and touchdowns. We can just let him play the slot naturally and eat up the inside.
[00:16:33] Speaker A: Think about a guy, like, outside. Yeah. Think about a guy like Cedric Tillman. Right. So now you can have him as the first backup. Tall, like these outside receivers, and you just bring him in sporadically, like when those guys need a develop, like when.
[00:16:47] Speaker B: Amari got hurt last year. At the end of the year, if you had Cedric Tillman come in with Jerry Judy, it's a whole different game. What we had was Cedric Tillman come in with David Bell and there was no game you lose.
[00:16:58] Speaker A: Exactly. Bone, how do you like it?
[00:17:00] Speaker B: I love it.
[00:17:01] Speaker C: Yeah. When Kenny told us that after coming out of the rest area, I don't know, I was pretty thrilled just because of just the high upside and the potential. Look what they did with Amari. He's had his best years as a Cleveland Brown. So that's what you're hoping for. Jerry Judy.
We gave up a fifth and a.
[00:17:18] Speaker B: 6Th 24, I think.
[00:17:19] Speaker C: Still, he's young.
[00:17:20] Speaker B: A long way to go.
[00:17:22] Speaker A: Yeah.
I will say this. We were very excited in the moment and that excitement quickly turned to despair. Yeah, when we saw the moves the next day from the rest of the AFC north, but we'll get to those. We're talking about the Browns right now. A couple more moves from the Browns. They re signed Michael Dunn. Much needed depth on the offensive line. We know how many injuries we've had on the offensive line the last couple.
[00:17:46] Speaker B: Of years, and it's good that they're able to kind of retain some of their core talent. The people that have been working under Callahan's offensive line coaching for the last couple of years, he's been around the block and knows this group and knows what they've achieved. And I think that you want more of those guys because obviously we lost offensive line coach this year.
It's a good resigning for a depth piece.
[00:18:11] Speaker A: Yep. Another resigning that we had is Darius Smith. And this one's huge because we weren't sure they were going to be able to do this. On one hand, we also weren't sure we were going to be able to compete for another big name in free agency. On the other hand, as far as getting somebody opposite Miles Garrett. So the fact that they kept Zadarius, yeah, this is phenomenal.
[00:18:33] Speaker B: This is huge. We're going to get into the rest of the defensive line here in a minute, but I think this was so important because we saw the impact of having a front four that can attack an offense without having to rush extra backers or defensive backs. To have those four be able to apply pressure was critical that they retained as many of those guys as possible coming into this season. Zadarius, obviously a big part of that bookends with Miles Garrett.
I think some people were maybe slightly disappointed with the production from Zadarius last year because he went from like ten or eleven sacks to about half of that. But Zadarius is just a disruptor and he just plays the position really well. So, yeah, this one is absolutely huge in terms of having talent on the outside.
[00:19:24] Speaker A: Yeah, and you just mentioned it a moment ago, but on top of Zidarius on the defensive line, they were able to keep Mohurst, they were able to keep Shelby Harris. So all in all, the defensive line is mostly intact outside of Jordan Elliott, who I mean, played sparingly anyways, and.
[00:19:41] Speaker B: He was one of those guys that never really reached his full potential, Cleveland. So that's what happens.
[00:19:46] Speaker A: Yeah. So that's a big deal at the defensive line. I mean, that was what everybody was panicking about coming into free agency and everything else like, oh, no, everybody's going to be gone, but in fact, everybody was able to hang.
And then linebackers, you go to the second level on the defense, they did sign linebacker Jordan Hicks. That's after Sioni Takitake and Anthony Walker were not retained. Anthony Walker signed with Miami. Sioni Takitake is still out there, so I guess there's a chance they could still get him back.
[00:20:15] Speaker B: Is that hicks'brother?
[00:20:17] Speaker A: Yeah. Yeah, absolutely.
[00:20:19] Speaker B: What's this?
[00:20:21] Speaker A: Don't, I don't know. You're the one that has the same hair as american idol. Yeah.
[00:20:26] Speaker B: Taylor Hicks gray hair.
[00:20:28] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:20:28] Speaker B: What's the song?
[00:20:29] Speaker C: I have no idea.
[00:20:30] Speaker B: Do I make you proud? Is that it?
[00:20:34] Speaker A: I have no idea.
[00:20:35] Speaker B: It was it.
[00:20:37] Speaker A: But anyways, I mean, how do you guys like this know? You know, obviously, Anthony Walker, Sioni Takitake, they have a little bit know. They were not necessarily fan favorites, per se, but the fans liked them. So do you guys think this is kind of a wash? You think this is upgrade where you guys think we're at with this?
[00:20:52] Speaker C: I mean, it's yet to be seen, but from what I've read, he's a very well respected linebacker. I believe his coach was at Kevin O'Connell in Minnesota, called him like the heart and soul of their defense during that time after he came back from injury this past year. So he was kind of just that veteran presence, the leader of the defense. So I think he's going to be filling in for that Anthony Walker role, obviously, and hopefully filling that void that we just lost with him.
He's an Ohio boy. He went to. What is it?
So that's Lakota west high school. I don't know. Is that near Cincinnati or is that a northern school? I'm not sure.
I didn't find this out, but maybe he grew up a Browns fan or an Ohio fan. I don't know. I'm not sure on that. But, yeah, he's a local.
[00:21:39] Speaker A: Awesome. It's crazy to think. I mean, we're on the Browns fan cruise right now. We hear these guys'stories and how many of them either grew up Browns fans or grew up in Ohio or whatever the case may be. It's just insane how many people run through the that, you know, born and raised in Ohio and then they wind up back here with the Cleveland Browns.
[00:21:57] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:21:58] Speaker A: I don't know if that speaks to how good football is here in general because everybody likes to talk about Texas, but Ohio can whip mostly anybody's ass. And I would actually put us up against Texas and take us every.
[00:22:08] Speaker B: So I mean, honestly, I think it's a very candid look at the quality of life in the Midwest and how much different the world is in other places in our country, because a lot of these guys do go out and play in LA and New York and then they come back and settle here.
It seems strange, but I think for anybody that's lived in the Midwest, you kind of know this is the place you want to raise your family. LA is the place to party, but not the place you necessarily want to spend the rest of your life. So, anyways, back to your question around Jordan Hicks.
Jordan Hicks. I think there's a lot of good here. The one question I had is that Jordan Hicks is an older guy. He's 31 32, where Anthony Walker was still on the right side of 30. So it's a little strange to me from that end, from, like, an analytics standpoint that they would go older or younger, but maybe they think that that linebacker group just needs a more veteran presence, which, if that's what they're after, that's what they're going to get.
[00:23:09] Speaker A: Yeah, it's possible.
And to Zach's point, specifically, the leadership portion is what Kevin O'Connell called.
Maybe. Maybe they just needed some leadership in the linebacking court because Anthony Walker, Sioni, Takitake, both so gone.
But next up here, and this is a big one for the Browns. But it's funny because most teams, you talk about their backup quarterback and nobody gives a shit.
[00:23:40] Speaker B: But not in Cleveland.
[00:23:42] Speaker A: Yeah, because of the injuries and because of what happened last year, backup quarterback is kind of a pretty big deal here. So the Browns signed Jameis Winston this week, and it's caused a lot of controversy in Cleveland. I know there's a lot of people that are really upset about this because they didn't bring Joe Flacco back. And with that being said, officially we've concluded the saga that was the legend of Cleveland Browns quarterback Joe Flacco. And, I mean, I'm sad about that, but I mean, how you guys feel about this signing and what do you think it does for the.
[00:24:19] Speaker B: Think, you know, James has been a guy that's had success in the league.
He's also not had success in the league.
I think this is just a very clear move from the Cleveland Browns saying we have to have a backup quarterback. We don't want there to be any questions or controversy around who's going to play quarterback for the season this year. It's Deshaun. We all know it's Deshaun. Look, I just think he's very much like, just. They don't want to have any kind of question as to who's going to be the quarterback because it's Deshaun Watson this year.
So without, like, if Joe Flacco had resigned here, the first pick that was thrown by Deshaun Watson, the Boobirds would have been out and they'd been asking for Joe Flacco, and I'd have been right there with them because Joe Flacco is the best quarterback that's ever put on the Cleveland Browns jersey. So this, I think, officially ends that and puts that whole controversy to bed and lets everybody know, like, Deshaun's the quarterback going forward.
[00:25:13] Speaker A: Yeah, I think it definitely talks to the fact that they didn't want Deshaun Watson to feel like somebody, like he needed to look over his shoulder at who was behind.
[00:25:22] Speaker B: Maybe he should have. It's Jamis.
[00:25:24] Speaker A: Yeah.
I don't know.
[00:25:27] Speaker C: It's Kenny was talking about. Jamis has had success, but then he's also not looked that great, I believe, in the league. So I think under just what Kevin's done with some backup quarterbacks in the past, he's gotten the most out of them. So I fully expect he'll do that with know if the opportunity rises. And it seems like a solid backup quarterback for Deshaun.
[00:25:46] Speaker B: Yeah, Jameis has got a lot of bad press over the years, too.
[00:25:50] Speaker A: It all started when he stole those crab legs.
[00:25:52] Speaker B: The crab legs. And it seems like a lot of that was, like, super overblown.
[00:25:56] Speaker A: When I think back on that, it just sounded like it was a dare. Like, he was, like, his friends were like, go take some crab legs. Oh, yeah, I'm doing this.
[00:26:02] Speaker B: The story he told, which kind of made sense, was like, that he had a friend that worked at Publix, and he was like, yeah, if you need something, you can come to just take it. And so he went and got crab legs, and his friend wasn't there that day or whatever, and so they were like, you can't just take crab legs. But he's like, my budy told me to take crab.
[00:26:17] Speaker A: He said, come get.
[00:26:18] Speaker B: Like, I think a lot of the drama around Jamis is kind of overblown, so I don't have a problem with him being here. I just think that it's more about just what this says about the administration in Berea and how they feel about Deshaun going.
[00:26:33] Speaker A: Yeah.
To me, Jameis Winston is basically a younger.
Like, a younger Joe Flacco of last year, I should say. So. Like, Joe Flacco hasn't had interception like problems throwing picks his whole career, but last year he threw quite a few picks and I think that's what you're going to get with. He's just, he's just a gunslinger. He's going to come out and throw the ball all over the place if he ends up having to replace Deshaun Watson for injury or whatever the case may be. And I think just what you get is a lot of touchdowns, a lot of interceptions.
[00:27:06] Speaker B: I will also end on this with Jamis is that I've never heard a teammate say a bad word about no, his teammates love him and that was evidenced last year when they had the whole running up the score debacle and basically everybody on the team had jamis'back and was no like we decided this is a team.
[00:27:26] Speaker A: The only people that came out and were mad about it were like the coaches, but the players were all like.
[00:27:31] Speaker B: They all had jamis'back in that thing. So I've never heard a teammate say a bad word about the agree.
[00:27:38] Speaker A: I agree. So those are the biggest moves for the Browns right now. I'm sure there's more to follow, but let's move on to the rest of the AFC north because a lot of shit happened with those guys, too, that we're not real happy about. So let's go with the first one, and I think the most important one is Derek Henry, obviously a running back. Tennessee is where he was and he is now in Baltimore. I signed a two year, $60 million contract with them and their run heavy offense just got that much better.
[00:28:11] Speaker B: This is terrifying.
I know that Derek Henry is a little bit older and not quite the back that he was. And I know we were talking earlier, you kind of pointed to the performance that the Browns had against Derrick Henry last year, but you got to remember the Tennessee team we played with Derrick Henry last year. A. Got their coach fired.
B.
I had a quarterback carousel between two bad quarterbacks and Ryan Tannehill and Will Levis, who's the most interesting man in football, and now he's going to a team that has a history of at least playing good defense. I know they've had some moves on free agency, but that doesn't mean they won't make some moves in free agency. A history of playing good defense, a history of playing smart offense.
With an MVP winner at quarterback in Tennessee, Derek Henry was the show. Derek Henry doesn't have to be the show in Baltimore, which means if Derek Henry gets 12, 13, 14 carries, they're going to come at the opportune time to have just a bruising running back run the ball and bang up your defensive line, it's not going to be, hey, let's feed Derek Henry 30 carries.
This terrifies me. Absolutely. This is the perfect running back retirement home for Derek Henry.
[00:29:30] Speaker A: Yeah, I would agree with that.
I did say the Browns were able to hold him to 20 yards on, like, 19 carries last year, which, silver lining there. The Browns played well against him. Most of our defense come back, we still got Jim shorts. Jim shorts. So I feel good about all that, but, I mean, it's a completely different offense that this guy's in now.
[00:29:56] Speaker B: And you got to remember, too, go back to Tennessee again last year. That was the one game Deshaun looked really good in.
[00:30:02] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:30:04] Speaker B: And we're kind of all like, well, Deshaun's really only had one good game.
I don't think Tennessee was worth a whole lot, I guess is my whole point last year.
[00:30:12] Speaker A: Well, the other thing I had about Derek Henry is, you know, what scares me more is not necessarily the Derek Henry factor as far as him putting up a ton of yards on us. It's what this opens up for Lamar against the Browns 100%, because you have to respect his running before. I mean, honestly, did you respect a JK Dobbins? That was hurt most of the time. Did you respect a Gus Edwards? I think probably not.
[00:30:34] Speaker B: Gus Edwards took respect from us.
[00:30:36] Speaker C: He seemed to not go down against.
[00:30:38] Speaker B: The Browns defense because we underestimated him a bit at times. But Gus Edwards was one of those stalwarts in Baltimore for the last few years that made us pay on a number of occasions.
[00:30:47] Speaker A: Well, I guess my point is.
[00:30:49] Speaker B: No, but Gus Edwards is not Derrick Henry.
[00:30:51] Speaker A: Right. Exactly.
[00:30:53] Speaker B: So now you have a guy that can literally feast if given the opportunity.
[00:30:57] Speaker A: Yeah. So that's the big one. To Baltimore. Now, let's move on to Pittsburgh here. Their biggest move, obviously, is Russell Wilson signing with the Pittsburgh Steelers after being released by Denver.
[00:31:10] Speaker B: Russell will tussle.
[00:31:11] Speaker A: He signed for the league minimum one year for $1.2 million. But I don't think he gives a shit because he's getting 85 million or whatever the hell it was from.
[00:31:20] Speaker B: Well, he's getting 39 million this year from Denver to play quarterback in Pittsburgh.
[00:31:25] Speaker A: Right. So I think he took the contract to help reestablish himself as one of the dominant quarterbacks in the NFL. And here's what's scary about this, and I know we've all talked about this off air, is think about last year that Pittsburgh team was not good. No, they weren't good yet. Mike Tomlin somehow willed them to be above 500 in the playoffs. And he did it all with Kenny Pickett and Mason Rudolph as your quarterback. Are you shitting me? And now you've got Russell Wilson. I like to give him shit. I've said all along. Russell Wilson is washed and I stand behind that. But a washed Russell Wilson is still head and shoulders better than Kenny Pickett at the best he's ever played.
[00:32:06] Speaker C: Yeah, I don't think there could be a better coach for to to go go play for to kind of hopefully resurrect his career. And I'm a little worried about.
[00:32:19] Speaker B: We've given Russell Wilson plenty of shit.
I just think specifically Denver was a bad fit for him. I think this is to bone spoiling. This is the best possible spot he could have ended up. And here's the thing. The jury won't be out after this experiment because either Russell will tussle again or we'll truly just see that his whole skill set has diminished to a point of no return.
Which, I mean, you look at his numbers last year comparatively to, like, Baker Mayfield's. They were similar. Baker just got $38 million a year.
Russell got cut.
So it's not like he even played bad in that. He didn't cut.
[00:33:05] Speaker A: They paid to cut him.
[00:33:06] Speaker B: He played okay. They just, for whatever reason, were not getting along out there in Denver with Russell.
[00:33:12] Speaker A: I think it was a Sean Payton thing. He just didn't like him for whatever reason. But it speaks to the fact we've already said this on the show, is if you're willing to just part with just $85 million in dead cap to get rid of a guy you really.
[00:33:24] Speaker B: Hate, that they had some issues. So, look, I think Russell Wilson is going to be humbled by this. He's going to walk into a franchise that's had three coaches in 70 years, and he's going to walk into the Mike Tomlin show and Mike Tomlin is going to be like, this is how we do things in Pittsburgh. And I fear that he will thrive there.
[00:33:45] Speaker A: Yeah, I agree. I think we all have that fear.
The other big move for Pittsburgh is they were able to lure Patrick Queen over from Baltimore in free agency. This is a big deal. Three years, 41 million, really kind of solidifies their defense. I mean, you got him and TJ Watt running around doing big things now, and that's very scary. And again, their defense, that team overall was not very good last year, but now you put those two together on the same defense as well as some of the interior defensive linemen they had. They got Hayward over. Know that defense is pretty scary.
[00:34:27] Speaker B: Now.
[00:34:28] Speaker C: Pittsburgh just got a new offensive captain and a new defensive captain.
[00:34:32] Speaker A: Wild.
[00:34:33] Speaker B: The only thing scarier than a thriving Russell Wilson is the fact that Patrick Queen plays the linebacker, not for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Patrick Queen is one of those guys that is a volume tackler. He's in on every play.
I frankly would have loved to have him play for the Browns.
[00:34:51] Speaker A: We didn't have any money.
[00:34:52] Speaker B: He's still a young guy. He can move laterally, he can fill gaps.
He's fast enough to play coverage.
He's an all around linebacker. He's your prototypical linebacker, and he plays position so well. This is a disaster.
[00:35:11] Speaker A: Yeah, not Browns. Not good for the Browns. And then Cincinnati wanted to get in on things, too, so they were also able to pry someone away from Baltimore. Gino Stone's safety from Baltimore last year is now with Cincinnati. He was the interceptions leader last year and he signed for two years and 15 million. So Cincinnati down there trying to bolster their defense, which, it's a weird dynamic right now because after a couple of years of being the top dog in the AFC north, it seems like it's all shifted and the Bengals are kind of at the bottom looking up, and so we'll see how that goes. And obviously Joe Burrow hasn't been healthy.
[00:35:51] Speaker B: But that's the thing, right? Like, we're sitting here watching Baltimore get better, watching Pittsburgh get better. Cincinnati gets better. The moment Joe Burrow steps back on the field, it just goes to show like, this division is and will continue to be the toughest division in football for years to come.
[00:36:11] Speaker A: And then two more real quick for Cincinnati. They were able to sign Zach Moss for two years, 8 million. I played for Indy last year and in a corresponding move, they traded Joe Mixon to Houston.
And then Cincinnati also signed Mike Gasicki, tight end for one year, $3 million. So we're able to bolster their offense quite a bit as well. Around Joe Burrow.
[00:36:36] Speaker B: Yeah, I think that's one of those moves.
Joe Mixon trade to Houston is one of those moves that could be super impactful to the entire season next year, just given how well Houston played this year to now have just starting caliber running back to play all three downs.
We have made fun of Joe Mixon in the past, just like Russell Wilson, but frankly, when we went back and looked at his stats, they're pretty good. And he's still 27 or 28 years old.
A lot of tread left on those tires.
So again, I just think it's just been a wild free agency period. We're not even done, but there's just been so much movement altogether already that it's just mind numbing.
[00:37:22] Speaker A: Yeah. And so one more trade of note. Deontay Johnson was traded from the Steelers to the Carolina Panthers as know one less weapon, I guess, for Russell Wilson. So that's good.
I will say the one that we talked about at the top of this, and probably the most important one is just as far as what that means for their offense, is Derek Henry to Baltimore. And I will say that the silver lining to Derek Henry to Baltimore. If you look at everything else that's happened in free agency, Baltimore has been decimated. There was a mass exodus from Baltimore. These are the players they've lost as of right now. J. K. Dobbins, running back. Davion Clowney, defensive end Patrick Queen, linebacker Gino Stone, safety. Ronald Darby, cornerback. Gus Edwards, running back. Devin Deverne, wide receiver.
That's what I said. John Simpson, I'm the one asleep. John Simpson, left guard and Morgan Moses, right tackle, who will both be starting for, I believe it's the jets that they both went to this coming year.
Like I said, mass exodus for them. So, I mean, yeah, they got stronger with Derek Henry, but at what?
[00:38:30] Speaker B: Just.
I don't know that I could ever live in a reality where Baltimore doesn't have a good defense. It just hasn't happened in my lifetime. They just reload. They just reload somehow. Some know, it's like they lost Patrick Queen. I think they're confident enough that they can draft the next.
And, you know, we talked about the guys like Gus Edwards. Like Gus Edwards all of a sudden was expendable because you signed.
[00:39:01] Speaker A: Know, there's is Gus Edwards and J. K. Dobbins expendable though? They literally don't have any running backs.
[00:39:07] Speaker C: JK is still on the.
[00:39:09] Speaker A: He's still technically on the market, but I doubt, I think they're going to.
[00:39:14] Speaker B: Upgrade over JK for this season and just have somebody else in there. I mean, there's other good running backs out in Freddie's here right now. We'll get to some of these names here in a minute. But there's guys like Alexander Madison out there that have played meaningful downs in this league that don't have the injury problems that JK Dobbins have had.
[00:39:36] Speaker A: I will say this, JK Dobbins is actually an interesting one to me for the Browns because he is coming off of some injuries and we're not looking for like the top guy. We're looking for a guy to add to a running back stable.
[00:39:46] Speaker C: He stays healthy. He seems like a stud. And we all watched him, Ohio State and just what he did.
Uh, and he looked successful in the NFL, too, when he was.
[00:39:55] Speaker B: Yeah, it's just a shame he hasn't.
[00:39:58] Speaker A: Been so with mean. That's all the big AFC north moves. Let's move on to the rest of the NFL here. We're going to go through these quickly. Just if anything jumps out, go ahead and stop me.
Give your commentary. Let us know what you think. But first off, we'll start with Christian Wilkins, defensive tackle. He was with Miami. He's now with Las Vegas four years, 110,000,000. And Las Vegas now has Max Crosby, Christian Wilkins and Tyree Wilson, who was their first round pick last year on the defensive line.
[00:40:28] Speaker B: Yeah, that's not good.
[00:40:31] Speaker A: So pretty strong defensive line for Las Vegas there. Danielle Hunter, defensive end, Minnesota to Houston. He was with Minnesota, is now signed with Houston. His contract is undisclosed as of yet, but I'm sure that's going to come out any minute now.
[00:40:49] Speaker B: This was one that was probably on all of our wish list.
[00:40:52] Speaker A: That was on my wish list.
[00:40:53] Speaker B: You could have anybody in free agency, who would you go get?
[00:40:55] Speaker A: To be fair, as soon as we signed, I knew that any defensive end was pretty much gone.
Yeah.
[00:41:01] Speaker C: Houston's d line just got so much better. They were great last year. I mean, we saw them in the playoff games.
[00:41:07] Speaker A: Yeah. Next up here, Saquon Barkley. New York Giants is who he was with, obviously. And now he's signed with rival Philadelphia Eagles and three years, 37.75 million. So he did pretty good for a running back, but this started this whole beef between him and Tiki Barber. Tiki Barber, Twitter war. Yeah, Tiki Barber came out on X. It's not Twitter anymore.
[00:41:29] Speaker B: Sorry.
[00:41:30] Speaker A: Formerly X War, sex war. That's weird. But Tiki Barber came out and said, you're dead to me, among other words. And Barclay shot back and said, next time you see me, I don't want you smiling in my face. So it got pretty personal and pretty serious between them. I don't really know what's going to happen there. I mean, that'd be awesome if we could just sign a celebrity boxing match between the two.
[00:41:53] Speaker B: Here's what I'll say.
Bad on Tiki Barber.
[00:41:57] Speaker A: Tiki Barber should be, it's football, it's a business and he's a running back.
[00:42:00] Speaker B: Tiki Barber should be an advocate for running backs at this point in his career and in this market where running backs aren't getting paid, Saquon went and got paid. Right?
[00:42:09] Speaker A: Like, why wouldn't you hold it against the guy? Look, I know they're a rival, and that sucks that our rival now has one of our best players, but what.
[00:42:18] Speaker B: Are you going to do? Unless Tiki knows something we don't. Like, did the jets offer Jets? The Giants offer him three years, $40 million, and he turned it down to go play for Philly. That would be one thing. But the thing is that relationship between the Giants and Sequan has been strained at best over the last couple of seasons because of his injury history, because of his contract and his desire to continue to be a top paid player because when he's on the field, he's top five. Running back in the, yeah, I just, I don't get the whole beef with him and Tiki. I just think Tiki is smart enough to know this is a guy, too, that's done plenty of television and radio now that he should be objective if you're going to be a reporter and types of those things.
[00:43:08] Speaker A: He's just been through the business. He knows it's a business. You've got to take care of yourself. Right? I don't know. I'm the same way. I'm just kind of like on Saquon Barclay side. I'm like, look, and I'm not even.
[00:43:19] Speaker B: A big Saquon fan. I just think, look, if you're a running back right now, I don't care who you are, if you can get paid, good on you.
[00:43:26] Speaker A: One more on a lighter note for this move, Jason Kelsey made a joke right afterwards and said, damn, I retired too soon.
[00:43:35] Speaker B: So I thought that maybe he'll come.
[00:43:36] Speaker A: Maybe, maybe.
And then next up here, this is a big one. I just laugh every time I see him get a new contract. Kirk Cousins s he was with Minnesota, obviously is now with Atlanta on a four year, $180,000,000 deal. That's right. Atlanta turned down signing Lamar Jackson last offseason to 45 plus million per year in order to sign 36 year old Kirk Cousins this season. This offseason to 45 million plus per year.
Kurt Cousins is undefeated when it comes to new contracts.
[00:44:10] Speaker B: Yeah, I just call him Kirk. Contract.
[00:44:13] Speaker C: Kirk, the main man contract.
[00:44:15] Speaker B: He always wins.
[00:44:16] Speaker A: He always wins. You can't stop him. I don't get it, but I mean, he is a good quarterback.
[00:44:24] Speaker B: Man. Atlanta keeps popping up like bad numbers, right? First, Bill Belichick was going to go there and there was all this talk that he's going to Atlanta and they're going to change things there.
I don't know why the whole rest of the league is so hot on Atlanta. Certainly Kirk Cousins is going to help things there. But I just don't see Atlanta as like the contender that everybody else does. Everybody else is kind of like Kirk Cousins going to Atlanta. I mean, between Drake, London and Kyle Pitts and John Robinson, this team is primed to do something.
I don't know, maybe it's because they lost 28 to three in the Super Bowl.
[00:45:03] Speaker A: I just think Atlanta is always kind of, I mean, they're just a disaster waiting to happen.
[00:45:07] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:45:08] Speaker A: I like what you do with your microphone here, by the way. I was doing that earlier. I wasn't sure if I liked it. And then I realized we're on vacation. I'm just going to relax.
[00:45:14] Speaker B: Yeah, I'm on a cruise ship.
[00:45:15] Speaker A: Lean back, lean back, lean back. We also don't have our boom arms. That's what you get when you get a remote studio. Just hold, stand behind me and hold.
[00:45:26] Speaker B: This in front of this right here.
[00:45:27] Speaker A: So it's perfect. Yeah. Bone, what are you doing?
[00:45:31] Speaker C: I deal with this every week.
[00:45:32] Speaker B: Guys, we're going to get you.
[00:45:35] Speaker C: Hunch forward round my shoulders. Put a lot of tension back there.
[00:45:38] Speaker B: We're going to get you a boom arm soon.
[00:45:39] Speaker A: Yeah, we'll get it for you when we get back.
[00:45:41] Speaker B: I'll get you one.
[00:45:42] Speaker A: Yeah. Next up, Tony Pollard. We're actually, you'll see, we're getting into a lot of running backs here. The running backs did fairly well. Not fairly well as in like, they got big money, but like, surely not.
[00:45:51] Speaker B: What they used to get.
[00:45:52] Speaker A: No, but they got taken care of for the most part. So Tony Pollard was with Dallas, is now with Tennessee. So apparently Tennessee is trying to replace Derek Henry with poor man's Derek Henry for three years. 24 million.
[00:46:07] Speaker B: I like this move to Tennessee for Tony Pollard. I just don't know what their quarterback situation is going to be.
I'm interested to see, are they going to draft a quarterback again this year or are they really going with Levis.
[00:46:22] Speaker A: As the future puts mayonnaise in his coffee. You like that?
[00:46:25] Speaker B: I do like that. It probably would taste very good.
[00:46:30] Speaker A: Phone.
[00:46:30] Speaker C: No. No way.
[00:46:32] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:46:32] Speaker C: Cream.
[00:46:33] Speaker A: Yeah. Kenny's an idiot.
And then Austin Eckler, he was with the Chargers. He is now with the Washington commanders for two years, 11.4 million. That actually was a lot lower than I thought. Yeah, that's a lot lower than I thought. Austin Eckler was going to get, but he also has dealt with some injuries, if I'm not mistaken.
[00:46:51] Speaker C: Did he have a season ending injury last year?
[00:46:53] Speaker A: I think he might have.
[00:46:54] Speaker C: He was out for a minute.
[00:46:55] Speaker B: He was just out for a long.
[00:46:56] Speaker C: Time because he was like the consensus number one pick in like fantasy last year, wasn't he?
[00:47:00] Speaker A: Like, he definitely did finish. Justin Jefferson, like a number one pick should finish.
[00:47:06] Speaker B: And even to the Tony Pollard contract, three years, 24, what is it, 8 million a year?
[00:47:10] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:47:11] Speaker B: I mean, that's not that much for a part of the game that we always go like, hey, if you can run the ball, you can win games.
[00:47:19] Speaker A: That's true. Well, some of these guys did better than others, but I mean, he's on the lower end of like the top tier running backs. Yeah, but next up here, I'll actually skip this one and come back to it. I just put them out of order. Since we're talking about running backs, let's stick with that theme. And Aaron Jones was with Green Bay, signed with rival Minnesota for one year, 7 million.
Related to that, Josh Jacobs was with Las Vegas. He's with Green Bay to replace Aaron Jones. Four years, 48 million. So he got paid.
[00:47:52] Speaker B: He got at least a decent per year, I think, out of that group.
[00:47:59] Speaker A: There, I got one more running back.
[00:48:03] Speaker B: Okay.
[00:48:04] Speaker A: DeAndre Swift was with Philadelphia and is now with Chicago. Three years, 24 million.
[00:48:10] Speaker B: I'm sure the city of Philadelphia is happy with him, too.
Again, $8 million a year there for his talents. These guys are just so underpaid for.
[00:48:21] Speaker A: What they do, especially like a Deandre Swift type. Like, he does everything.
[00:48:25] Speaker B: Yeah. I mean, I just think like Austin Eckler, he does one here is Josh Jacobs. I think he's kind of the best running back in the group right now.
But that Green Bay team could be very scary with Jordan Love and what they did the end of last season. Now with a really good running back. Not that Aaron Jones was bad, but.
[00:48:47] Speaker A: He'S not Josh Jacobs.
[00:48:48] Speaker B: Big fan of Josh Jacobs.
[00:48:49] Speaker A: So let me go back here. Gabe Davis, wide receiver, he was in Buffalo, now he's in Jacksonville three years, 39 million.
Xavier McKinney, safety, was with the Giants, is now with Green Bay four years, 68 million.
Let's see here. Jeff Okuda, cornerback, was with Atlanta, now with Houston one year, 4.25 million. And then a couple quarterback notes here. First off, Gardner Minshew was with Indianapolis, is now with Las Vegas two years, 25 million. They give him low end starter numbers, so he's going to be competing for.
[00:49:26] Speaker B: A job definitely going to compete for a job. I mean, he did a hell of a job in Indianapolis last year.
This is a guy that's coming into situation there in Las Vegas where you just had the recently departed Jimmy Garoppolo. I think Aiden O'Connell is kind of the on paper starter there and played okay last year in, you know, I think Gardner Minshew offers a different kind of consistency to the position that will probably land him a starting job sooner rather than later while he's there. And it may be that Gardner is a bridge quarterback for them to get to the future if they're not confident in what is there.
[00:50:07] Speaker A: Yeah. And another quarterback, Sam Darnold was with San Francisco last year, is now with Minnesota to replace Kirk Cousins for a year at least, because his contract is one year, 8.75 million. Maybe another bridge quarterback situation.
[00:50:21] Speaker B: Now that's a terrible bridge quarterback situation. If you're relying on Sam Darnold to win you any games, Justin Jefferson, you better get the hell out of there.
[00:50:30] Speaker A: If you have pizza when you're supposed to french fry, yeah, you're going to have a bad time.
[00:50:33] Speaker B: I don't feel bad at all.
[00:50:37] Speaker A: And then just another quarterback note here and actually a couple of notes for this team. The Bucks, they retained Baker Mayfield and Mike Evans. Baker got three years, 100 million, and Mike Evans got two years, 52 million. Now, I'll say this, as much shit as I give Baker on our show, I will say, and I did give him props a couple of weeks ago. I did give him props, but Baker had a decent season last year and he got himself paid. So good on Baker for once again battling through bad odds as far as like nobody was kind of counting him out, whatever the case was. And he battled back and he was able to prove himself enough once again in order to get a decent, mean look.
[00:51:21] Speaker B: Well deserved Baker, he took two teams to playoffs in the last four years or whatever. It's tough to do. There's not a lot of guys that have done it and he earned that payday. Mike Evans coming back is obviously huge.
A guy that's got ten years straight of 1000 yards receiving.
To have him back as the number one target for Baker there for the next couple of years is tremendous in terms of a weapon there. So you can't ask for anything.
You, especially if you're, you know, that would have been huge for them to lose Mike Evans. So I think that was probably on the books for, hey, if you're going to sign me to a deal, you need to figure out EVAns first right but, yeah, we'll see. I mean, that team is young. They weren't expected to do a lot last year.
They overachieved with Baker at quarterback. We'll see what other pieces they add in free agency in the draft and if they are poised to make any noise next year. But I just think the fact that they're in a shit division probably is the biggest benefit to them.
[00:52:28] Speaker A: Yeah, and I will say, just going through everything that we've rattled off, there's so many more, but we're going to move on here in just a second. I will say this. Two teams that stuck out to me that got a lot better, Houston and Green Bay.
[00:52:40] Speaker B: Pittsburgh or Baltimore.
[00:52:44] Speaker A: I'm still on the fence about Baltimore, I think. But the amount of people they lost, if they can't resign, a couple of those people that are still hanging out there as free agents, I think that's almost a wash. But Pittsburgh definitely got better.
[00:52:54] Speaker B: They'll recruit some kids from the secret high school.
[00:52:57] Speaker A: That's how they do it.
That's how they do it.
[00:53:00] Speaker B: They found Ray Lewis.
[00:53:01] Speaker A: All right, but again, we're going to move on. So real quick, a list of free agents. A list of notable free agents that are still out. There's a lot more than just this, but this is some that we picked out.
[00:53:11] Speaker B: Notable ones?
[00:53:12] Speaker A: Yeah. Calvin Ridley, wide receiver. Tyron Smith, offensive tackle chase young, edge J. K. Dobbins, running back. Jadevian Clowney, defensive end. Kevin Zeitler, offensive guard. DJ reader, defensive tackle. Bud Dupree, linebacker. Chris Hubbard, offensive tackle. Alexander Mattinson, running back. Clays Campbell, defensive tackle. Stefan Gilmore, cornerback. Curtis Samuel, wide receiver. Bobby Wagner, linebacker. And like I said, there are many more, but these were some notable ones that we wanted to pick out. And out of those guys that I just listed, we'll start with bone. Bone. Do you have somebody that sticks out to you as far as who could really help the Browns and that's a realistic signing for them?
[00:53:57] Speaker C: I would be curious. I don't know how expensive would be, but the chase young experiments already over in San Francisco.
He was a number one pick, right? What happened to him?
[00:54:07] Speaker A: He started over with Washington, then he ended up in San Francisco. I thought he actually played pretty well for San Francisco last year.
[00:54:14] Speaker B: We also have a bad attitude or something because nobody wants to work with him. Okay.
[00:54:17] Speaker C: Because I don't know what it is. He just seemed like a stud coming out and it's just like, Ohio State.
[00:54:21] Speaker A: Guy, what's going on with that building block?
[00:54:23] Speaker C: Is there something Jim Schwartz could do? Know if you add another piece like know to this d line, how could that work or what? I don't know how practical that is, but I think that'd be kind of cool to just to bring him back because he is a local as far as playing at state, so that'd be interesting. Alexander Madison, I think would be pretty slick. Just as a guy who's done in the league and has filled in really well.
[00:54:48] Speaker A: We talked about building our stable of running backs if you're going to go committee.
[00:54:53] Speaker C: Yeah, I mean, if he's out there and nobody picks him up.
[00:54:56] Speaker A: Fair. Fair. Kenny, you like anybody on here?
[00:54:59] Speaker B: I like a lot of guys on here. I mean, look, we live in a.
[00:55:01] Speaker A: World he likes a lot of guys.
[00:55:03] Speaker B: Now where Bobby Wagner, Stefan Gilmore and these guys are free agents. Like these were household names over the last decade.
[00:55:09] Speaker A: At what point wasn't Stefan Gilmore considered, like the best cornerback in the game?
[00:55:13] Speaker B: These guys are a little bit older now, but they can still contribute to teams in a lot of ways. The name that sticks out to me here is Bud Dupree. Bud Dupree has just been a guy that's harassed the Cleveland Browns for the last few years.
[00:55:26] Speaker A: We are thin at the linebacker position.
[00:55:27] Speaker B: Love to see him come in and play linebacker for the Browns. He's just one of those hard nosed, hard hitting, ass kicking linebackers.
We talked about Tyron Smith that potentially tackled taking over for Jed Wills. Calvin Ridley is again a pipe dream. You probably have to pay that guy some money, but he's still available out there, right?
[00:55:47] Speaker A: I was going to say still available. So his price tag goes down every day he's out.
[00:55:51] Speaker B: I mean, I don't know if it's because of the history with the suspension that is keeping his price tag down, but if I'm the browns, I take a swing there.
[00:56:01] Speaker A: Yeah, I agree. Calvin Ridley was on my list as well for all those same reasons I talked about it earlier. I like JK Dobbins just because he's never really. I know he's had injury issues, but that's kind of the perfect scenario for. So you're going to get him at a discount if he still has some of that ability in know you're able to take a chance on him and add him to the stable of running backs. That's going to be your committee and see what happens for a pretty low price tag. So I like possibly taking a chance on him.
I liked your thoughts on Chase Young. Just the fact that he's an Ohio state guy is always cool. His name is bone oh, yeah. Sorry, bone.
[00:56:44] Speaker B: It's the second time. I'm going to have to edit it out.
[00:56:46] Speaker C: Now they're going to know who I am.
[00:56:50] Speaker A: I don't know. We can't have too much offensive line depth. So really, any of these offensive linemen, if we're able to snag one of those guys at a lower cost, I like to bring those guys in as well.
[00:57:04] Speaker B: I think there's a lot of really interesting names out there. There's a ton of different directions you could go to create.
[00:57:14] Speaker C: His presence alone. I don't know how much he has left.
[00:57:17] Speaker B: Have some guess.
[00:57:17] Speaker C: The dudes is a stud.
[00:57:18] Speaker B: I mean, a guy like Kalia Skimmel is the guy. Is the guy that you kind of hide during the year and then when you get to.
Right, like, you're going to play in the next four or five games.
[00:57:29] Speaker A: Right.
[00:57:30] Speaker B: That's a guy that could help you win a Super bowl.
[00:57:32] Speaker A: Yeah. So, yeah, lots of names out there. It's going to be interesting to see what happens. The rest of free agency. I'm sure there's going to be tons more news to report on. Let's move on here. In WWE news, SummerSlam is officially coming to Cleveland Brown Stadium in August of this year.
[00:57:49] Speaker B: Yes.
[00:57:49] Speaker A: I'm pretty excited about this. I think maybe burning river sportscast is going to have to buy tickets and go watch a wrestling pay per view.
[00:57:56] Speaker B: Last time you said Burning river sportscast was going to have to buy tickets, it was to the fan cruise.
[00:58:00] Speaker A: Here we are.
[00:58:01] Speaker B: Here we are.
[00:58:02] Speaker A: Maybe we could team up with SummerSlam.
[00:58:04] Speaker B: Maybe.
[00:58:05] Speaker C: We're live from SummerSlam.
[00:58:07] Speaker B: We're gonna have to start doing a WWE weekly segment.
[00:58:09] Speaker A: Hell, yes.
I'm all for that. I'm all for that.
[00:58:13] Speaker B: Look, obviously this is good for the city of Cleveland.
It kind of plays right into. We talked about this a week or two ago, but it plays right into the conversation around chess match, the stadium and who is this good for? Is this good for the city? Is it good for the Haslam group? Is it good for, like, it's just another pawn in this game now of what are we going to do with Cleveland Brown Stadium?
[00:58:39] Speaker A: What are we doing here?
[00:58:40] Speaker B: What are we doing here? You knew mofus Aurelius.
[00:58:45] Speaker A: Yeah, exactly.
But, yeah, I mean, it is interesting to see, think. I think it was like getting that to come here. That is a move because it's like, see, we use the stadium just fine. I don't know what you're talking like.
[00:58:56] Speaker B: When was the last huge WWE event?
[00:58:59] Speaker A: When was the last huge anything? All of a sudden, they have two really big concerts in the Cleveland Brown Stadium and SummerSlam.
[00:59:05] Speaker B: This only I know raw has come to the queue a couple of times. I've only ever been to house shows at the, like, you know, half full, and it's like a bunch of younger guys and stuff.
[00:59:16] Speaker A: But I remember your picture. I've seen your picture of when you were little and you were, like, flexing with one. I think you were with one of the wrestlers.
[00:59:22] Speaker B: Or the. That was when Iraq was the intercontinental champion.
[00:59:26] Speaker A: Hell, yes.
[00:59:26] Speaker B: That was before he was.
[00:59:27] Speaker A: Was. That was Rocky Maivia.
[00:59:29] Speaker B: That was before he was Dwayne Johnson.
[00:59:30] Speaker A: Nice. I like that. But with that, that'll conclude the burning river rundown and lead us to what gets your dander up.
All right, so this is a segment where we like to vent about what's pissing us off in the world today. And I will say this, less is pissing me off right now than usual, because we are on the cruise.
[01:00:01] Speaker B: We're on a sand cruise.
[01:00:02] Speaker A: Yeah, but with that, Kenny, what gets your dander up?
[01:00:06] Speaker B: Look, here's something that's been getting my dander up my entire life.
[01:00:11] Speaker A: We're in the car.
[01:00:15] Speaker B: Talking, having a conversation. The conversation ends, and the next thing that happens is an absolute red hot banger comes on like, I should have been a cowboy, and I'm just about to belt it when you see me crank the volume 1213 notches at one time. That is not an invitation for you to start a new conversation. And my wife does this to me constantly. And what's worse is she'll wait until I'm two bars in, and then she starts. Like, she doesn't hear my angelic tones ringing from the mountaintops. Like, she just wants to have a full on new. Like, listen.
[01:00:57] Speaker A: Linda, listen, Linda, Linda, listen.
[01:01:00] Speaker B: I am having my own personal concert in the car right now, and you're wrecking it. You're wrecking all my good vibes.
[01:01:06] Speaker A: And I will say, I've seen you sing in the car, so, I mean, I know that you get after it.
[01:01:10] Speaker B: Dude, when I should have been a cowboy comes like, there's no other option besides cranking it all the way to the top and just as loud as you can rip. Toby Keith.
[01:01:18] Speaker A: Yeah, she's lucky the greatest showman soundtrack isn't really on the radio. And you started singing that.
[01:01:24] Speaker B: Because I have that on my phone. I play it all the time. And sometimes she'll get me there, too. And I'm just like, you can't just start in the middle of the chorus, a new conversation. I'm clearly busy right now.
[01:01:35] Speaker A: I agree.
[01:01:36] Speaker B: So that gets my dander up.
[01:01:39] Speaker A: I'm just letting that mellow for a second.
[01:01:41] Speaker B: What about you?
[01:01:42] Speaker A: Now we're going to go to bone. Bone. What gets your dander up?
[01:01:46] Speaker C: Oh, man.
I'm on call every now and then for work.
[01:01:50] Speaker A: Oftentimes you've been called in during the show?
[01:01:52] Speaker C: Sometimes, yeah, I've left the show.
I don't know what happens after that, but I've heard it's still good.
Sometimes I get called in during the brown season during a game, and that's the most frustrating thing. It's game time. It's going on or it's right before, and I'm driving in and I'm just listening to it on the radio, and then I lose it during while we're working. And then every now and then you hear somebody complain like, I work in the power industry, maybe they don't power at this time.
I'm missing the Browns game right now. I'm like, looking at these people, I'm like, I'm missing the Browns game right now.
[01:02:29] Speaker A: Do you see me up in this bucket? What are you talking about? What are you talking about?
[01:02:34] Speaker B: Is there no radio contact, like up in the bucket?
[01:02:37] Speaker C: If you had it up really loud? It depends, I guess, on where you're at. There's traffic around. Traffic can be pretty noisy, but generally.
[01:02:44] Speaker B: The power doesn't go out unless something bad happens. Right? Like if somebody hits it or there.
[01:02:48] Speaker C: Is no rhyme or reason. Drunk driver hit a pole anytime they want. They don't care.
[01:02:53] Speaker B: Yeah, there's a disaster. They don't just go bad necessarily over. And sometimes maybe, right, there's windstorm. Windstorm ran into one.
[01:03:01] Speaker C: Windstorms are big and squirrels are even bigger, probably.
[01:03:04] Speaker B: So it's probably not like a time where you're just like, let's crack up.
[01:03:08] Speaker A: It's third and three, but if anybody's listening to this and has heard, if anybody at all is listening and has heard this, make sure you show some love to your power workers, because not all heroes wear capes. And he's out there fixing your power so you can watch the browns game, missing himself. Yeah, absolutely. So you asked me what gets my dander up?
Actually, I thought of it on the way down because it happened to me once. What gets my dander up is I'm a big coffee drinker. I drink a lot of coffee. A lot of coffee. Like, I'll drink coffee, basically, sun up to sundown. I'll have it sporadically throughout the day probably not good for me. Probably die soon.
[01:03:50] Speaker C: But we should probably get coffee when we're done here.
[01:03:52] Speaker A: Yeah, it sounds delicious.
[01:03:53] Speaker B: Unlimited coffee.
[01:03:54] Speaker A: This one's here and it's cold, so I haven't been drinking it too much. We're going to get more. Yeah, I like that. Yeah, hot coffee, too. Not cold. But anyways, what really gets my dander up is when I order a drink, usually I get coffee black, but if I decide I'm going to get.
If I decide I'm going to get a little bit of a fancy drink from Starbucks or from any of these, any coffee shop in general, I always go with, I'm just getting a plain late with almond milk. That's what I get. And when it comes out to me and it just tastes like ass and I'm like, all I've wanted for the pet because usually I'm craving it for a while before I actually get my coffee. So I'm like, all I've wanted for this past half hour, hour, whatever the case may be, is my coffee. And you bring this shit out to me. I'm pissed off.
[01:04:44] Speaker B: What's probably more frustrating is even that it's like, I paid $8 for this shit.
[01:04:49] Speaker A: Well, yeah, there's that, too. And the fact that while we were on the road, so I'm like, waiting for this coffee, I get this coffee, we get on the road, I take a sip, I'm like, fuck, this is awful. I can't even drink this. I got to wait till the next stop for more coffee.
[01:05:05] Speaker B: Look, I don't want to get my dander up, but I can relate in terms of fast food. Sometimes if you get a good McDonald's burger and the fries are hot, then you're just like, man, this is good. But that happens. One out of every, like, 25 times you go there, the other 24 times, the bun is stale, the meat is old. They don't put two pieces of cheese on the burger. Sometimes they put pickles on, sometimes they don't. Sometimes they put the onions on, sometimes they don't. The fries usually are mushy, overcooked or undercooked.
It's frustrating.
[01:05:35] Speaker A: Yeah.
[01:05:35] Speaker B: But the good thing about McDonald's is you only pay like $4 for it. Premium coffee, it really gets you. That gets your dander up.
[01:05:42] Speaker A: Listen, I know you could talk about mushy fries and old meat all day.
[01:05:46] Speaker B: I love old meat.
[01:05:48] Speaker A: But we're going to move on to the next segment. It's exciting. Here we got a Browns fan cruise fan interview.
[01:06:19] Speaker F: Okay, so he is the president of the Brownsbackers chapter of the year, the Naples Brownsbackers. He won a very special prize on board the ship and he is just an all around phenomenal guy. Please help me welcome Superfan Robert Hamilton.
So, Robert, how are you doing?
[01:06:38] Speaker E: First of all, awesome. Been one heck of a week. I mean, just amazing. I mean, it's been non stop yet fun all at the same time. So, I mean, it's been a great vacation, so couldn't ask for anything better.
[01:06:53] Speaker B: Seems like the only there's no time to do is sleep pretty much.
[01:06:56] Speaker E: I mean, I know a lot of people. We had the dance party last night for the Browns backer or the Browns fans, and I think that ended at like midnight, twelve, little after, and everybody went up to the 14th deck and partied there till the DJ turned off at 130. Then they ended up in the casino till three and we were all back at it again this morning. I do have to say, though, up on the upper decks from about, till about 09:00 a.m. It was pretty quiet, so I think a lot of people were sleeping today.
[01:07:28] Speaker F: I noticed for the Q and a session this morning, it was supposed to start at nine. It started a little bit late, about 910 at like nine three. Also, everybody was piloting. They got every bit of sleep.
[01:07:42] Speaker B: Everybody said their lumps for 09:00 a.m..
[01:07:47] Speaker F: Now, we mentioned it when we introduced you, but your chapter won the Brownsbackers chapter of the year for 2023. And I understand that you got something special for that. Can you kind of show that off?
[01:07:56] Speaker E: We did. So we get a trophy every year and it's this awesome championship belt here, if everybody can see it. And there's actually two belts, so there's a belt. They're identical. That is signed by Joe Thomas and Amford Dixon signed it at our chapter party a couple weeks ago. That belt will actually rotate to every chapter that wins.
But the Browns allow you to go online and purchase one for your club so that you can keep something around. So that's what we did.
[01:08:28] Speaker B: It's kind of like the Lombardi Trophy, pretty much.
[01:08:30] Speaker E: I mean, we used to have like a fake Lombardi trophy.
It looked like the Super bowl trophy and that got handed from club to club and it didn't get packaged correctly one time and it came in pieces. So then the Browns introduced this last year, so we're the second club to have it. The first club was the tidewater Brownsbackers out of Virginia.
[01:08:53] Speaker A: Nice.
[01:08:53] Speaker F: And now they can't see this in the camera. Right now, but I can see it from where I'm sitting. It looks like there's quite a few signatures on the back.
Show that off. And that is all 16 alumni on the Browns fan, correct?
[01:09:10] Speaker G: Yes.
[01:09:14] Speaker E: My wife and I were in the first autograph session this morning, so I know there's three more going on, and it was surprisingly so smooth. I mean, every event so far on this cruise has just been smooth.
[01:09:29] Speaker F: But it is funny because everybody who kind of says it is that the first one. Typically, there may be this, there may be that, but overall, I think this has gone.
[01:09:41] Speaker E: There's always something you can knock on.
[01:09:42] Speaker B: Wood, we're halfway through, right?
[01:09:46] Speaker E: There's always something you can learn from, and they'll learn from it for next year or the year after or if they continue to do these.
And my hope is that they continue to do these because my wife and I are just having a blast. So I can't wait to get back to Naples and let everybody know. I mean, I've been putting it out on Facebook, all know, on our Brownsbackers page, all the stuff that we're doing, and if this comes again, you have to sign up. You can't miss this.
[01:10:12] Speaker D: Yeah.
[01:10:13] Speaker F: And so we also know that you won a special prize in the Q A session with the Cleveland Browns alumni this morning. Can you show us that and tell us a little bit about how you won?
[01:10:24] Speaker E: Sure. There was a little bit of PTSD.
My Browns backers group, for some reason, finds it funny to try and peg me with little footballs while I'm trying my hardest to run a tight ship on Sundays during football games. And so I didn't know they were going to start doing this and then football start flying, so I'm, like, freaking out. And then at the end, the second time around, Steve.
Steve Sanders, I put my hands up and he threw a ball right to me and it had a little silver star on the back of it. So I won this Denzel Ward signed jersey here.
[01:11:01] Speaker B: Look at.
[01:11:02] Speaker E: Yeah, I'm having a pretty good year. So mean, being a Browns fan and all the stuff that's going on.
[01:11:09] Speaker F: You knew all the years of heartache would pay off, right? Right.
[01:11:12] Speaker B: I mean, the jersey is sheer luck.
[01:11:13] Speaker E: But we know that the belt was.
[01:11:16] Speaker B: That was effort there.
[01:11:17] Speaker A: The belt was awesome.
[01:11:18] Speaker E: Yeah. We did a lot to earn that, and I'm proud of everything that we've.
[01:11:23] Speaker F: Done on the fan cruise so far. Besides obviously winning a signed war jersey, getting your belt signed by all of the alumni, is there a specific moment or a specific thing that's happened that's really going to stick out to you.
[01:11:40] Speaker E: The interaction with the alumni. I mean, when we first got on the boat, Josh Cribs was up on the 11th deck. And I walked up to him and I'm like, I really hate doing this because you guys have lives, but can I get a picture real quick? And he's like, dude, I'm here for you. I'm here for everybody here. And everybody's been like that.
We were talking with Greg Pruitt at lunch. We had Webster slaughter at our dinner table Monday night. And some of the stories he was just telling, I mean, it was just amazing. And he shared the same story this morning at the roundtable, that he didn't play football until he was a senior in high school.
And then he goes on to have this career and we're all in just awe over him when we see him.
It's just been just the fan, the interaction.
There's 3000 people on this ship, or maybe more.
All I see is orange and brown and we're such a small contingent on this cruise ship. But everywhere I look, that's all I see. I mean, it's crazy.
[01:12:45] Speaker F: I think I've been asked at least five times, like, what are you guys doing here? Because they're like, there's so many of you, right? But there's really not.
[01:12:52] Speaker E: There's only 415, I think was the final number somewhere around there, 437, I.
[01:12:58] Speaker F: Think was the final, but still around that same number.
[01:13:02] Speaker B: But yes, I think to your point, right? I mean, being able to kind of have that really organic, intimate conversation with the players, you're learning stuff that you can't find online. Like you can't google somebody and learn the things that they're telling. These stories are dozens of years old.
[01:13:19] Speaker E: We played basketball, a few fans and I played basketball with Frank Stams Tuesday morning. I mean, it was just shooting hoops and talking. And he's from Akron, I'm from Canton. And even at the roundtable this morning, just listening to how many people are in that area, Akron, Canton, you know, Reggie Langhorn with his car service and his dealerships and stuff like that.
[01:13:40] Speaker F: I mean, it's just like Frank stams. Actually, we just moved recently out of the area, but we used to live in Coga Falls. And Frank Stams is the councilman for two wards over from where we live. He was almost my councilman.
[01:13:56] Speaker E: You'll claim him.
[01:13:57] Speaker B: Yeah, exactly. Frank Stams. That guy's a ham, though. He's a lot.
[01:14:01] Speaker E: Oh, yeah.
[01:14:01] Speaker G: I mean, last night he's rolling on.
[01:14:02] Speaker E: The floor with his grandson at the dance party.
[01:14:05] Speaker D: So, I mean, it's just fun.
[01:14:07] Speaker E: I mean, they were all out there on the dance floor with us. There's no even the interaction between the fans themselves.
We've all been in bars and watching Browns games and all the other teams come up and you guys suck and you guys, this and that.
We didn't ask for your opinion, things like that. But on here, you got all these people and you've never met them before, but you have this common bond with the Browns and this familyness, and you'll just start talking at the pool and next thing you know, you guys are going to the bar together, at dinner together, and you've made these friendships and exchange phone numbers and everything. It's just awesome.
[01:14:45] Speaker F: Yeah. And to your point, as far as experiences through this whole thing, I think one thing that's cool, on top of all the bonds you're forming and everything else, is how the Browns fan cruise has kind of brought this. It's almost like a game day feel to it as far as Chomps has been in here, right? They got Bridget Linton on stage announcing.
[01:15:09] Speaker E: Everything this morning because we see her at president's weekend all the time, and I'm like, oh, you pulled out the orange blazer. Time to go to work.
[01:15:16] Speaker F: Yeah. I mean, it's just really cool because it's almost like, to your point, you're.
[01:15:20] Speaker A: At a tailgated seat.
[01:15:22] Speaker F: It really is a tailgated seat.
[01:15:25] Speaker B: And like you said, just meeting all the different people, you have this common bond with the browns, and then you start talking to them, and some of them have the most crazy. Even the players, they have the craziest stories. We ran to one couple, it was like, I let my husband pick our wedding colors because he's a big browns fan. Like, they got married in orange.
[01:15:44] Speaker E: Mean, we had a wedding on the ship.
I mean, Webster Slaughter told us about that at dinner and know Josh Gribbs was the ring bearer, and the lady didn't have anybody to give her away, so all the Browns alumni stood up and said, we give her away.
[01:15:59] Speaker F: I mean, how cool would that be?
[01:16:01] Speaker E: Browns wedding.
[01:16:02] Speaker F: Yeah, spoiler alert.
[01:16:03] Speaker A: A little bit.
[01:16:04] Speaker F: We will have some footage of that, some fun things from after the wedding. We were there.
[01:16:08] Speaker E: Sorry about that.
[01:16:09] Speaker F: No, I'm saying for them. But, yeah, it was a special moment because it was really cool to see all of those players there. The guy's a military guy, and that was kind of like.
[01:16:21] Speaker E: And he thought the captain was going to marry him.
[01:16:23] Speaker B: He knew all this was going to go on, right?
[01:16:25] Speaker F: So it was pretty cool. But, yeah, we're only halfway through this thing. We're only halfway through the fan cruise. So, I mean, going forward, we still got a couple of days left. Another port stop.
What else are you looking forward to the most?
[01:16:39] Speaker E: The beach party is going to be cool. I mean, just to have a private beach for the 300 of us that have agreed to do it and get off the ship and to have that time seeing these guys playing with their families and whatnot.
[01:16:55] Speaker F: I think they have some competitions and stuff together out there. I'm not real sure what.
[01:16:58] Speaker E: I'm not sure it'll be fun.
[01:17:01] Speaker B: We don't know yet.
[01:17:01] Speaker E: Yeah.
[01:17:03] Speaker F: But we also will have a cabana there tomorrow.
[01:17:06] Speaker A: I'm sure we'll have plenty of footage of that and everything.
[01:17:09] Speaker B: Fans on.
[01:17:10] Speaker E: So I can be your friend like the sun if I need some shape.
[01:17:13] Speaker B: Absolutely.
[01:17:14] Speaker F: We'll have a cabana. We'll be doing fan interviews, alumni.
[01:17:16] Speaker B: Just bring other fans to talk to us.
[01:17:18] Speaker E: Got you.
[01:17:18] Speaker D: I'll do that.
[01:17:19] Speaker E: I'll bring some other presidents over. I mean, I lived in Florida for 38 years, but I got that Ohio skin. I go white, bright red and white back to white again.
[01:17:28] Speaker F: Do you see who you're talking to?
[01:17:30] Speaker E: I know that's why I said I'm going to borrow your shade, but.
[01:17:35] Speaker B: Yeah.
[01:17:35] Speaker F: Listen, Robert, it's been great talking to you. We look forward to seeing you on the pool deck, on the beach, maybe catching a show, playing sports with the alumni, or the final special event of the week on Friday somewhere I know we're going to see around. We're going to have so much fun catching up and talking.
[01:17:51] Speaker E: Yes, sir.
[01:17:52] Speaker F: But we really appreciate you taking the time.
[01:17:54] Speaker B: Congrats again on chatter of the year.
[01:17:58] Speaker F: Thanks for taking the time to sit down with us and then take a.
[01:18:02] Speaker B: Break from the fun.
[01:18:04] Speaker F: Have some more fun.
[01:18:05] Speaker B: Oh, yeah.
[01:18:06] Speaker E: Time to go. Have fun now.
[01:18:07] Speaker D: Appreciate it.
[01:18:08] Speaker B: Thanks so much.
[01:18:09] Speaker D: Yeah.
[01:18:33] Speaker A: Man. A lot of fun talking to Robert there, wasn't it?
[01:18:35] Speaker B: Robert's the man.
[01:18:37] Speaker A: He just wins everything.
[01:18:39] Speaker B: Like I said, it's not even that. He's just a stroke of good luck because the chapter of the year, that was earned. But now you get to the Denzel ward. It's just good fortune.
[01:18:50] Speaker A: What's the line? Ruma Clanahan.
[01:18:51] Speaker B: Ruma clan. People love winners.
[01:18:53] Speaker A: Robert's winner. Robert's winner. But that'll take us to another interview here. We've got a Cleveland Browns fan cruise alumni interview, special edition.
[01:19:03] Speaker B: We got all the views here on the bringover sports cast. Oh, on the Cleveland Browns fan cruise.
[01:19:07] Speaker A: Hell yes.
Saint having a blast.
[01:19:33] Speaker F: Rubbing elbows and hanging out with these guys all week long. And we still have several days to go, so please help me welcome John Greco and Gary Barnage.
[01:19:42] Speaker G: Hey, guys.
[01:19:43] Speaker D: Thanks for having us.
[01:19:44] Speaker F: No problem, gentlemen. First of all, how are you?
[01:19:48] Speaker D: I'm doing amazing. I'm on a cruise vacation and I'm with former teammates that I play with, alumni that I have never met before until this cruise. So getting to know them and then getting to enjoy the family, the nice, nice.
[01:20:02] Speaker F: Johnny doing well as well.
[01:20:04] Speaker G: Same.
[01:20:04] Speaker D: Yeah.
[01:20:04] Speaker G: Sorry to interrupt. Yeah, this is my first cruise and I'm here with my family. But like Gary said, seeing some guys we used to play with, laughing and sharing stories and listening to some of the guys that I grew up watching and guys that I've met, legends of the brown and orange. And it's been great, especially interacting with the fans and seeing them, seeing how happy they are. Just exchanging stories and answering questions.
[01:20:29] Speaker D: It's been a blast.
[01:20:30] Speaker A: Yeah.
[01:20:30] Speaker F: Yesterday, Tuesday, we're recording this on Wednesday of the cruise. But Tuesday we were in the Bahamas. Did you guys get off the boat at all or did you stay on?
[01:20:39] Speaker D: I did not.
I've been on ten cruises. This is my 10th cruise. I've been to Nassau before. So if I've been to a port, I usually don't get off because I've already done everything. So I just hung out on the cruise. That's usually when I do the slides. Enjoy the pool because there's not 10,000 people out.
[01:20:54] Speaker A: That's incredible.
[01:20:55] Speaker D: But I was a little upset. The slide was closed till 1230. I was up at eleven ready to do it. And I had to wait till 1230, but I got my slide in. So I got the little bit of sun and then relaxed.
[01:21:06] Speaker F: Nice slide going off the side of the ship.
[01:21:08] Speaker A: Yeah.
[01:21:08] Speaker F: There you go, John.
[01:21:10] Speaker D: We got off.
[01:21:11] Speaker G: Yeah, we went into the kind of the port market in Nassau and had a blast. Went through the markets and bought the pineapple drinks and my kids wanted souvenirs and we spent a fortune on those. But it was a blast interacting with kind of the locals and seeing how beautiful Nassau is. And it's been a nice trip so far.
[01:21:32] Speaker A: Did you have a chance to grab.
[01:21:33] Speaker B: A bite to eat while you were off the boat there?
[01:21:34] Speaker G: I did, absolutely.
I got some conc fritters.
[01:21:38] Speaker F: Where'd you go?
[01:21:40] Speaker G: You know what? Linda's place, I think. Lilisa's or Linda's. But it was damn good.
Fried conch and with the lime squeeze of lime. It was a good thing. And my daughter got one of these gigantic pineapple strawberry drinks that had fruit and everything coming out of it. It was good.
[01:22:00] Speaker B: Awesome.
[01:22:00] Speaker F: We had a chance to stop it at Mackenzie's and we also got the concreters and they brought it out and I was about to fall over. I was like, we should order one.
[01:22:10] Speaker A: Each.
[01:22:10] Speaker B: Giant.
[01:22:11] Speaker G: That's right. They don't skimp on portions.
[01:22:13] Speaker D: Was it your first time ever having Conc or y'all had it before?
[01:22:16] Speaker F: That was my first time ever. It was good. I liked it.
[01:22:20] Speaker B: I was in the Bahamas one other time, so I've never had the fried. I've had it in soup. Like Conc.
Yeah, I mean, they had these giant stuffed fried balls of.
[01:22:32] Speaker F: So we'll get back to the cruise in just a second. There's been just real clear, I mean, while we've been on the ship, it's been a wild free agency. A lot of things have happened with the Cleveland Browns. A lot of things have happened with the AFC north.
[01:22:42] Speaker D: We're going to try and move through.
[01:22:43] Speaker F: This very quickly, but we have several questions for you. What's going on? So first and foremost, we'll start with the Browns because they're the most important team in the NFL.
What do you guys think about the Jerry Judy move?
[01:22:55] Speaker D: You want my honest opinion? I do.
I think it could be a new change of scenery that would help Jerry Judy. He hasn't lived up to the height that he was supposed to have, but I don't think Cleveland gave up a lot to get him and if he could be the type of player everybody thought he was going to be, obviously, he knows Amari Cooper from Alabama days, just in general terms. So that will probably help him and Amari Cooper can help him in that transition. And I think it could be a really great move for Cleveland if they can get the Jerry Judy everybody expects. That's the question. Are you going to get that? I think that's the biggest thing.
[01:23:33] Speaker A: That's fair. That's fair.
[01:23:35] Speaker F: Do you have any thoughts on that?
[01:23:36] Speaker G: Yeah, I would agree with what Gary said. And sometimes new scenery, new team, new City can kind of breathe a breath of fresh air into a guy and help elevate his career. So we hope to see that obviously as Browns fans, and to Jerry's point, too, I think it's a good one. Anytime two college teammates come together, especially when you have a guy like Amari Cooper in your locker room and in your meeting room, younger guys are trying to be like him. They're seeing what it takes to have success in the NFL and a collegiate teammate. They're going to have that competition. They're going to want to uplift each other. So I'm hoping it provides a spark. That room is one that's going to be wreaking havoc on opposing defenses.
[01:24:25] Speaker A: Absolutely. For sure.
[01:24:26] Speaker F: Another big move that was made caused some controversy in Cleveland already is the James Winston pickup. Obviously, it means the end of the legend of Cleveland Brown's quarterback, Joe Flacco.
What do you guys think about this? I mean, do you like it?
[01:24:43] Speaker D: I honestly don't really have much of opinion. I think James Winston is a solid backup. I think Flacco was a solid backup. I don't think you're expecting either one of them to come in and change the game. Everything's relying on what Deshaun Watson does. So I don't think the backup is really going to make that big of a difference.
From what I was told, Jameis Winston actually knows Deshaun Watson. They have a little bit of relationship, so that could help Deshaun Watson as he's trying to come back and be the player that he was. So it'll be interesting to see. And I think it was probably a move made to try to help Deshaun Watson with that and then not have to worry about, well, Flacco did really good. I don't want to have to worry about losing my spot to Flacco now. Again, I don't know if Flacco is going to get any other jobs anywhere else, but Cleveland knows, hey, they would still want to come back here and do stuff, so they could still have him there if they needed it. But I don't think it's a bad move. I don't think it's an amazing move. I think it's just a move that helps the team.
[01:25:36] Speaker B: If it did anything last year, we may end up needing an extra quarterback somewhere down the line.
[01:25:40] Speaker F: Nothing else. I think it kind of, to your point, speaks to I don't think Deshaun Watson wanted. They wanted Deshaun Watson looking over his shoulder this year with all the hype around Joe Flacco. Last year, another pickup for the Browns, Naheem Hines. And this one's just interesting because there's a lot of rumors rolling around Nick Chubb and what they're going to do with him. Do you think this says anything? Do either of you guys think this says anything about what they will do.
[01:26:05] Speaker D: With Nick Chubb if they get rid of Nick Chubb? You're going to have the whole fan base riot. I will tell you that he is a fan favorite and he is the heart of the offense and if you get rid of him, you just rip the whole heart of the offense away. And yeah, I don't think he's going to be ready to start the season. I don't think he's going to be ready until middle of the season. But middle of the season, Nick Chubb is still better than a lot of the backs in NFL. And you don't just give up on that. And he's shown he can come back from it. He did it in college, he came back from it and he was still an amazing player. So I don't think you give up on that. I'm interested to see how it goes. I think they know Chubb's not going to be ready. That's hence the Heinz thing. They're going to rely on Heinz and Ford and then who knows? You never know. They could always bring hunt back if they needed to. But I think they don't count on Chubb right away. But there's no way, let me repeat, there's no way you can release Chubb because the fan base will.
[01:27:07] Speaker B: Like, you know that we know getting the fret. Brown's front office really has that hyper awareness around that.
[01:27:12] Speaker G: So that's the thing. That's a job that I think is kind of thankless. And as fan GMs, it's easy for us to make moves from where we're at behind these tables and make these calls. And even though they seem really obvious, those guys have to do what's best for the franchise to put them in winning situations. So, yeah, as Gary said, they can't make moves based off of emotions like we can. It's a very emotional part of our lives, especially Nick Chubb, who's the heart and soul of that offense. But yeah, they have to be prepared for any variety of situations. So I think bringing a guy like that in is just to protect if Big Chubb's not able to go. They have to be ready to win in many different scenarios. But I'll echo what Gary said. You'll have a lot of upset people if the worst case scenario would happen.
[01:28:07] Speaker D: But I will say that if something happens and Nick Chubb is not able to play like back and they don't think he can give him the year, and then if you're going to do it, don't do it this year. You let him try this year. And then if you're going to do it the following year, you can't do it. This can't because it looks so much worse coming off injury, and then you just wash your hands. That's even worse. Especially for somebody that everybody on that team loves.
[01:28:33] Speaker B: It almost has a bad message to the players. Right.
[01:28:37] Speaker D: We already know how this business works.
We understand it, but it still sucks.
[01:28:42] Speaker F: Yeah, I kind of like what you said earlier, and I think we're going to pick that up as like a new saying on the show.
[01:28:46] Speaker A: Release Nick Chubb and we riot.
[01:28:49] Speaker B: Hashtag.
[01:28:52] Speaker F: One more I have here as far as free agent pickups. Jordan Hicks. They let Anthony Walker go, they let Sioni Takitake go, and they picked up.
I mean, do you think we upgraded? You think that's kind of wash? How do you guys look at know?
[01:29:07] Speaker G: I don't know any of those guys personally, so I'm just speaking as a fan and I think that level of the defense, that linebacker know you have J o k and some other guys, some young guys on the roster.
I don't want to think that they thought it was as a wash or just kind of a trade one for one. That's kind of the unfortunate part of the business. You see beloved teammates and players leave, but the heart and soul and where the magic happens is on that defensive front, it's all about getting to the quarterback and stopping the run. And I think they can build that linebacker level by having athletic guys, guys that can fly to the ball. Sure, tacklers, because the top of the defense, when healthy, is the best in the business, and we all know that. So I think it all starts up front and I think they're going to continue to try to bolster that middle level at the linebacker level because you have j o k. Like I said, that guy's a monster. He's all over the field and he has a big future, a bright future, and I'd love to see him be a Cleveland Brown for a long time. But yeah, some of the moves they make, they're strategic and they do them for a reason. I think you bring a guy in that can cover the field sideline to sideline and run and make plays and make tackles. And their scheme, the linebackers are to be not unblocked, but have a chance to knife down to the line of scrimmage and make big plays. So I think that's what you'll see a lot this year.
[01:30:35] Speaker B: To your point, they did a good job already of re signing a lot of guys on defensive front, Brad Zadarius, back, Shelby Harris, Mohurst. So it looks like not a lot of change there, which is great.
Couple of these just real quick. I know we want to get you guys out of here and back to your families, back to the fun, a couple of the big moves. Russell Wilson to the Steelers, Derek Henry to the ravens. Either of those moves keep you up at.
[01:31:01] Speaker G: I was, some of my friends were texting me and I was like, look, I'm on vacation. I'm trying not to get stressed out, but that's just what we think. It's one of the best divisions in football, and I think it will always be a competitive one, and it'll be tight every year. And it just comes down to how important those divisional games are for playoff spots. So, yeah, nothing surprised me there.
You saw some big names being tossed around, and that's what's great about early March, mid March, you see guys changing teams and it gets back to the conversation we just had about a fresh start, a new face, a new city, might help elevate a guy's career. And Russell Wilson, I mean, we all know what he did in Seattle and Denver, for whatever reason, it just didn't seem like it worked out, even though he had some great games. And I thought he and Sean Payton would have been a great combination, but it just didn't work out. So, Mike Tomlin, man, he's sneaky, as we all know.
[01:32:01] Speaker D: He's a great coach.
[01:32:02] Speaker G: And that division, just when you think, like, you can climb the ladder and you have the clear advantage, those two organizations make moves. And let's not forget, Joe Burrow is going to be healthy and Cincinnati would get rid of Joe Mixon and the team.
Yeah, I saw that. So the division is getting stronger, and I think the Browns are in a great spot. If they stay healthy, they'll be in the consideration for winning the division.
[01:32:31] Speaker F: Gary, I was going to say, you jump in.
[01:32:35] Speaker D: The worst thing was the fact that Derek Henry signed with Baltimore. That is the worst.
But I will say the positive is the strength of the Browns team is that defense. So if anybody can withstand a Derek Henry being on Baltimore is the Browns. Like you said, the front line. That front line can minimize the damage Derrick Henry can do. And you got to be on your P's and Q's then, because that is a whole nother animal that Baltimore's never had. They've never had that guy since Jamal Lewis, basically. So you're going to have this guy. Now, granted, he's older. Can he stay healthy? But they get JK Dobbins if they resign.
[01:33:13] Speaker F: I don't know if he's right now, he's currently still a free agent.
[01:33:17] Speaker A: Yeah.
[01:33:17] Speaker D: So they could maybe get him cheap because he's coming off injury, so you never could bring him back. They're going to need a second back. Henry can't carry the loads like that anymore. But that's probably the worst signing that could have happened in that division because they went and went to Baltimore.
[01:33:32] Speaker F: The silver lining there, I think, is that one. The Browns held Derek Henry to 20 yards last year, like 19 carries. So that was a pretty phenomenal job out of that. And the other one is, while that was a great pickup for their offense as a team, they're kind of having a mess of this over there. I think they've lost like eight players so far to free agencies.
[01:33:51] Speaker D: Well, they lost their heart and soul.
[01:33:53] Speaker F: To defense at Queen and he went to division ride. That's a whole other thing. That's a whole other thing. But no. Speaking of the AFC north, the burning river sportscast has a yearly AFC north pickup competition that runs the length of the season. We call it king of the north. We've done it the last two years. Kenny's lost the last two years. And when you lose, you get punished. So last year Kenny had a gross of eggs. That's 124 eggs.
I got it wrong. 144 eggs. In case anyone doesn'tice that were thrown at him in the munium lot before a preseason game. How'd that feel, Ken?
[01:34:28] Speaker B: It was terrible.
[01:34:29] Speaker D: It was awful.
[01:34:30] Speaker F: I also kept the eggs in a cooler full of ICE, so they were pretty frozen.
[01:34:34] Speaker D: Did he have to go to the game with all the egg at all?
[01:34:36] Speaker F: No, we let him get out of that, but I had to sleep that.
[01:34:40] Speaker B: Off for a couple of days.
[01:34:40] Speaker F: Yeah, he was hurting pretty good.
With all that being said, we've not decided the punishment for losing this last season. We haven't decided what that would be. So do you guys have anything off the top of your head that we.
[01:34:52] Speaker G: Could punish them with?
[01:34:55] Speaker D: I love trying new foods, so I like trying different things and a lot of people don't like trying crazy foods. I am always opponent of trying to make people try crazy out their foods. I'll give you one right now. One of my buddies, his wife is Filipino and Balut is one of their national things. And Balut, I've been told, is terrible. I'm going to try it.
[01:35:18] Speaker B: What is a balut?
[01:35:19] Speaker D: It is a fermented duck egg.
That is something. I always recommend that because you're going to get an expression of having eat something and you have to eat the whole thing. So that's a whole nother aspect, but it's a national delicacy in Philippines, so it's loved by many.
[01:35:38] Speaker G: I think you should have to jump into Lake Erie in December and January.
[01:35:44] Speaker F: That's what I said. Awful cold.
[01:35:50] Speaker B: I don't like you two together.
[01:35:53] Speaker F: And then real quick, just back to the cruise. We do have just a couple more questions about the cruise for you guys. First of all, what are you guys looking forward to on the rest of the cruise the most?
[01:36:03] Speaker D: I would say I'm actually really looking forward to the beach party aspect because I've been on cruises, but I've never really done beach party and people have let things slip. There's some surprises in store. I don't know what they are. I'm very looking forward to it, what those are because I'm all about the surprise aspect and keeping people off guard. So I'm actually looking forward to seeing that whole beach. But I think it's going to be a great thing for the fan. I think us players are going to have a good time with it, so it's going to be a lot of fun.
[01:36:30] Speaker G: I think it's been cool just having dinner with different fans and seeing everybody. And even though we're on a big cruise ship with thousands of people and the Browns are kind of a small chunk of that, it's nice because if you see somebody with the Browns lanyard or a brown shirt or jersey, you're stopping. You're talking to them, you're taking a picture, you're signing something, sharing stories. But the dinners have been great because my wife and I always talk about this. These fans, they don't ask dumb questions, they ask hard hitting questions, they ask great questions. And it's nice to tell them things that no one else would know and they can't get the answer to unless they talk to a player. So it's been great to share stories, share experiences, and then you see their face when you tell them something they either weren't expecting or it was like the last thing that they were ready to hear, expecting to hear. So that's been my favorite part is just kind of slowing it down, interacting with fans and you give them a sense of who you are. That way they're not just looking at your number on the back of your jersey or through your face mask.
[01:37:36] Speaker F: That's been awesome. I know we had dinner with Ben Davis and man, the stories that guy has from what he played are insane. And just a quick thing and in case anybody doesn't know, he still holds a Cleveland Browns record for an interception with seven consecutive games. Wow, that's pretty.
[01:37:57] Speaker B: I think the final thing we just were thinking, like, if you were a fan that passed this thing up this year, what would you say to those guys? They're thinking about maybe doing another one next year.
[01:38:07] Speaker G: Don't wait to sign up next year because my guess is that they will open it up a little bit more and invite more fans. And I think actually, Gary and I were talking after the autograph session. I think once fans that missed out on this or maybe said, oh, I'll wait to see how it goes. Once they see kind of the behind the scenes footage and action of what they missed out on, I think it's going to sell out really quickly and being a great event for years to come.
[01:38:34] Speaker D: Yeah, I think there's going to be a waitlist, I truly do, because this is something that they're going to cap it at a certain number. Only a certain number are going to be able to do it. So only the select few that actually want to do it and book it are going to get on it. And I think they're eventually going to run into having a waitlist for years if they keep doing this, because this is something that is a very unique. Especially. I've said this especially with alumni, like the active players. You'll see them at games. You might get autographs, you may see an autograph session. Very rarely do you get to hear from the alumni and see it as an alumni and still catch up with them and get the in depth history of what happened during their time playing that. You're never going to get that. So I think that's a huge thing, a huge testament to what doing the alumni aspect of it.
[01:39:16] Speaker B: Yeah, to that point, the ratio of your group to the folks on board, it allows for that kind of really organic just conversation. We'll definitely keep it captive at some level, for sure.
[01:39:29] Speaker F: Yeah, absolutely. So, listen, guys, we could come up with things to talk to you about all day. We really could. But we know you want to get back to mingling with fans, enjoying your family, enjoying the amazing cruise experience that we've been on. So we really do. We appreciate you taking the time to join us. It's been great. And, yeah, everybody, this is the Cleveland Browns fan cruise. We have fun.
[01:39:52] Speaker D: Thank you for having. Thanks, guys. Yeah, it was fun.
[01:40:25] Speaker A: It was nice talking to Gary and to John there. Just goes to show you, like, these guys literally will take time out of their day anytime we're on the Browns fan cruise and just hang out with us.
[01:40:36] Speaker B: Are we friends with Gary?
[01:40:38] Speaker A: I think we're friends with both of them.
[01:40:39] Speaker B: Gary and John. Do they like us?
[01:40:41] Speaker A: I think they do.
[01:40:42] Speaker B: We have to do this because you're a charity case.
[01:40:44] Speaker A: Nah, I don't know.
[01:40:46] Speaker C: From my perspective, behind the camera, you guys look like friends.
[01:40:49] Speaker B: Yeah, I like that we're friends with them.
[01:40:51] Speaker A: You guys should have. Listen, there was a Q A session earlier today on the cruise. It was Wednesday. We did a Q a session in the morning in the theater. So we were up on stage with a bunch of the alumni asking me questions. Me and Kenny were lucky enough to emcee a segment of it, and Gary was in our segment, and, man, I threw out some killer jokes when we were introducing Gary.
[01:41:17] Speaker B: They're all true.
[01:41:18] Speaker A: Well, they were kind of true.
Things we talked about in the interview. You can go back and check our first interview with gary. That's our second interview. We do lots of interviews with gary.
[01:41:27] Speaker B: Gary's our friend.
[01:41:28] Speaker A: Yeah, he's our friend.
[01:41:28] Speaker B: John and gary are our friends.
[01:41:30] Speaker A: Yeah, but I mean, like, it's just. It's just awesome, because this is an example of what you get. They'll take time out of their day to talk to just about anybody on the fan cruise.
[01:41:41] Speaker B: Anybody. Even the sports cast.
[01:41:42] Speaker A: Yeah. Yeah, we're anybody.
[01:41:43] Speaker B: They are friends of the show.
[01:41:45] Speaker A: But with that, you know, it's time for.
[01:41:49] Speaker B: Someone to call.
[01:41:51] Speaker A: Yeah. I just want to remind you all to call the hot take hotline.
That's right. Don't forget to call and leave your hot takes on the hot take hotline. Remember, these are hot takes. We want hot takes.
[01:42:06] Speaker B: We want hot takes.
[01:42:10] Speaker A: Give me hot takes.
3302-2780-8033-02 27.
[01:42:15] Speaker B: 80 80 33.
[01:42:17] Speaker C: 02-2780-8033-0227 eight.
[01:42:21] Speaker A: I'm dying, guys.
[01:42:23] Speaker B: And be sure to check out our gear at ww dot thetamedmedia.com shop. That'll do it for Ronnie. He's dead.
[01:42:29] Speaker A: I'm dead. I'm dead. Kenny, what can we expect next week?
[01:42:32] Speaker B: Look, we, first off, had to finish this week and get through the rest of the Browns fan cruise. But once we kind of get our bearings and our sea legs back under us, we will have tons of more information to share with you about the Cleveland Browns fan cruise. We have tons of content, tons of video footage of the different events and things on board that we'll be putting together to release to all of you. And then, obviously, we are going to continue to follow the Browns and NFL news because it is a jungle out there. Right now, there's a lot happening every day and you never know who's going where. And if you thought you knew the NFL last year, well, buckle up. You got to learn a whole bunch of new names and faces and where they're at because they're not there anymore.
And then we're probably going to take a break.
[01:43:19] Speaker A: Yeah, I need to recharge my batteries a little bit.
[01:43:22] Speaker B: Yeah, we thought this was going to recharge our batteries, but really, we've just been busy nonstop every day since we've been here.
[01:43:29] Speaker A: Not in a bad way. In a very good way.
[01:43:31] Speaker B: Just going from event to event to event.
[01:43:32] Speaker A: A lot of work, a little sleep. Yeah, a lot of work, little sleep.
[01:43:35] Speaker B: A lot of work, a few drinks here and there. And makes life hard.
[01:43:37] Speaker A: Running on coffee and adrenaline.
[01:43:39] Speaker B: That's right.
[01:43:40] Speaker A: And the thrill of seeing our favorite browns players all over the place.
[01:43:43] Speaker B: Hell yes.
[01:43:44] Speaker A: But don't forget to check us on social media. Tap and media is on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. At the tap and media. And burning river sportscast, that's. This podcast is on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube. At Burning River Sportscast on X at Burning River Pod, you can find our podcast wherever we get your podcast, I'm talking Apple podcasts, Spotify, Google Podcasts, Amazon Music, Stitcher, Pandora, iHeartRadio podcast, Castro, good pods and so many more. Do you know what that takes us to, Kenny? Facts for, for days.
What do you got for us?
[01:44:25] Speaker B: I'm sailing.
[01:44:33] Speaker A: We'll sing us out with that.
[01:44:35] Speaker B: In lieu of the fact that we're still just out here on the ocean, we out here. I went with more ocean cruise line facts.
[01:44:42] Speaker A: Do you have whale facts?
[01:44:44] Speaker B: No.
[01:44:44] Speaker A: Dang it. I love blue whale facts. It's my favorite segment that we've ever done. But I have started doing facts for days and then blue whale facts.
[01:44:50] Speaker B: But I have facts about things that are really big.
[01:44:52] Speaker A: I'm in.
[01:44:52] Speaker B: Let's do it. Cruise ships.
[01:44:53] Speaker A: Hell yes.
[01:44:54] Speaker B: What do we got, number one.
[01:44:55] Speaker A: Okay.
[01:44:56] Speaker B: The average ocean liner is approximately 1000ft long by 200ft wide.
For comparison's sake, the independence of the sea. Our boat is 1112ft long and 184ft wide.
It's pretty big. Now, thinking about this historically, basically average overall, historically, the Titanic, which I'm not supposed to stay on a cruise ship, so don't tell anyone, was 883ft long and 92ft wide.
[01:45:27] Speaker A: Not even close.
[01:45:27] Speaker B: So about half the width of this boat that we're on.
[01:45:31] Speaker A: Oh, our ship's so big. Oh, yeah, right.
[01:45:37] Speaker B: It was unthinkable.
Number two.
[01:45:40] Speaker A: Yeah.
[01:45:42] Speaker B: This will get you a mid size cruise ship. Will accumulate over 200,000 gallons of sewage over the course of a week.
[01:45:52] Speaker C: Dang.
[01:45:53] Speaker B: What happens to that sewage, you might ask?
[01:45:56] Speaker A: I'm afraid to find out, but I'm sure you're going to tell us. Let's hear it.
[01:45:59] Speaker B: So this gets treated on board where solids are filtered out and chemicals are added to kill bacteria before being released directly into the ocean as blackwater.
[01:46:12] Speaker A: Blackwater. What the hell?
[01:46:14] Speaker B: Ships are only required to be more than three and a half miles from shore to release their blackwater.
If you're out in the middle of the ocean, you're not in that three and a half mile range. You're not even required to treat it. You just dump it straight in the ocean.
[01:46:33] Speaker A: Is the ocean just so damn big that it doesn't even matter?
[01:46:35] Speaker B: Well, not really. I mean, if you talk to environmentalists, they're like, it kills coral and mammal populations and all kinds of, like, you can't live in sewage.
But, yeah, I guess ultimately it's just so big that we've decided as a society that we're okay with this. I mean, the thing is, truthfully, I guess, like, oceans piss and poop in the ocean, or whales.
[01:46:59] Speaker A: Oceans do oceans.
[01:47:00] Speaker B: Whales and other fish and things that live out there.
[01:47:03] Speaker A: Yeah, there's a lot more fish and stuff than people going on ships.
[01:47:06] Speaker B: I guess it's not any more gross than. I guess. If you collected 200,000 gallons of whale.
[01:47:12] Speaker A: Excrement, well, whale could probably piss 200,000 gallons in a day. A blue whale, they're really big.
[01:47:20] Speaker B: The difference is you have the contaminants that come from, like, the salt kills it all.
Other stuff that we flush down and goes down our drains, thinking about you brush your teeth. Like, the chemicals in toothpaste, all that stuff gets mixed in here because it's all wastewater.
But that's just one week. 200,000 gallons.
[01:47:44] Speaker A: That's wild. That's just one ship.
[01:47:46] Speaker B: Sail all over the world all the time. It just seems like we should be swimming in poop. Number three.
The average cruise ship costs between 500 and $900 million to build.
What?
[01:48:03] Speaker C: That's a lot of money.
[01:48:05] Speaker B: Now, think about this.
The average salary of a cruise ship captain ranges from about $55,000 a year to $95,000.
[01:48:16] Speaker A: What?
[01:48:16] Speaker B: Average? That's it. I mean, you think about the median there, right? Like 70 ish thousand dollars. Like, you putting a $70,000 employee in charge of a 900 million dollar boat with 5000 souls on board.
[01:48:30] Speaker A: That's what I was going to say. He's in charge of that many people and that's all.
[01:48:34] Speaker B: What? Isn't that wild?
[01:48:36] Speaker C: That's insane.
[01:48:37] Speaker A: They need to unionize.
[01:48:39] Speaker C: I would have thought number would be.
[01:48:40] Speaker B: Turns out, like a lot of these guys will drive for giant cruise lines like this, and then they'll get hired by a guy like Jeff Bezos, and then they make like three or $400,000 a year to drive their super yachts around. But this is kind of like the training grip for the most famous rich guys.
[01:48:57] Speaker A: So let me get this straight.
[01:48:58] Speaker B: Billionaires with big yachts hire like X cruise ship guys.
[01:49:02] Speaker A: They get paid $70,000 to cruise around with like 4000 people on board, $400,000 to cruise around like seven.
To be fair, Jeff Bezos is worth more than all of us combined by quite a bit. True.
[01:49:20] Speaker B: Quite a bit.
[01:49:21] Speaker A: I mean, I guess that's fair.
[01:49:23] Speaker B: It just seems kind of crazy, though. Like you're going to hire a guy and $32 an hour to pilot a $900 million watercraft.
[01:49:31] Speaker A: Yeah, that seems OD.
Let's be honest, most of it's run by computers anyways.
[01:49:40] Speaker B: I guess. I don't know what the kind of autopilot boats have these days.
[01:49:44] Speaker A: Does the airplane pilot do anything? No.
[01:49:48] Speaker B: Only if the computer stop working, which at that point you hope your pilot knows how to fly the airplane.
[01:49:55] Speaker A: Yeah, but I mean, I'm just saying.
[01:49:57] Speaker B: But like an airplane can take off and land kind of on its own. A ship pulls into harbor. There's things that have to, like that has to be tied up.
[01:50:07] Speaker A: You don't think we're at the point where a computer with all the different.
[01:50:10] Speaker B: Devices can throw thousand pound ropes out over.
[01:50:14] Speaker A: Yeah, there's that part. The captain's not doing that.
[01:50:17] Speaker B: He's got to have.
[01:50:18] Speaker A: Hey, go throw a rope over there. He's not even doing that. There's somebody in charge of it.
[01:50:21] Speaker B: He's got to commandeer the crew.
[01:50:24] Speaker A: I'm going to commandeer you.
[01:50:26] Speaker B: That sounds like a problem. Don't just be a part of the problem, be the whole damn problem.
[01:50:31] Speaker A: And only you can prevent river fires.
[01:50:34] Speaker B: This has got bone.
[01:50:35] Speaker C: Bone epithet.
[01:50:36] Speaker A: Nice burning Rivers podcast.
[01:50:39] Speaker B: Burning rivers.
[01:50:41] Speaker A: Burning river. Burning river.
Burning river.
Cleveland Browns Van cruise.
I'm sailing away.
[01:51:05] Speaker B: Because I've got to be free.
Keep going. No. Good night, Cleveland. Ahead of me.
Good night, Cleveland Browns fan cruise and the burning river sports cast.
[01:51:24] Speaker A: What better combination could you possibly think of? Motorboat. You play the motorboat.
[01:51:30] Speaker B: You motorboat son of a bitch.
[01:51:32] Speaker A: You old sailor.
[01:51:32] Speaker B: You you know, I was thinking during that interview.
[01:51:34] Speaker A: What were you thinking? Nothing. Because you don't have thoughts. Because you're a brainless idiot.
[01:51:39] Speaker B: Wow. My name is uhtred, son of Utrit.
[01:51:42] Speaker A: By the way, I want my foreskin back. It doesn't matter what you think.
[01:51:46] Speaker B: Women's Guide to anal sex. And it was the second edition. Who makes second edition? The weather. Outside is weather.
[01:51:55] Speaker A: The other one. The finger eating food.
[01:51:57] Speaker B: Fingers ejaculate all over my body and my genitals.
[01:52:00] Speaker C: Yes.
[01:52:01] Speaker B: Oh, my God. I have the full shed everywhere.
[01:52:06] Speaker C: You don't need fundamentals when you got heart in Jesus.
[01:52:11] Speaker A: In Jesus.
[01:52:11] Speaker C: That's right.
[01:52:12] Speaker A: Touchdown.
[01:52:13] Speaker B: Anyway.
[01:52:13] Speaker A: Oh, no.
[01:52:15] Speaker B: We suck again.
[01:52:16] Speaker A: It's going down.
What do you mean, funny?
[01:52:21] Speaker E: Funny how?
[01:52:22] Speaker A: How am I funny? You were at Chippendale once.
[01:52:24] Speaker B: That's true.
I'm bringing that to the boat, baby.
[01:52:27] Speaker A: Hell, yes. I'm not excited for it. I'm just excited for you guys to see it.
[01:52:31] Speaker B: Goddamn jet.
[01:52:32] Speaker A: All I do is win win no matter what.
[01:52:35] Speaker B: The leads are weak.
[01:52:37] Speaker A: The leads are weak?
[01:52:39] Speaker E: Fucking leads are weak.
[01:52:41] Speaker B: You're weak.
[01:52:41] Speaker A: I mean, last year when I won and went home, my wife's pants hit the ground. Erroneous. Erroneous on both counts. Wow. But damn. I'm sorry.
[01:52:51] Speaker B: I hijacked your segment for a second to do some good podcasting.
[01:52:55] Speaker E: You know why, Mr. Because you drove.
[01:52:58] Speaker B: A hyundai to get here tonight.
[01:52:59] Speaker E: I drove an $80,000 BMW. That's my name.
[01:53:04] Speaker A: I live my life a quarter mile at a time. Now, I think we've officially lost all of our more conservative viewers.
I don't think they want to listen any longer.
[01:53:14] Speaker C: It's Mother Nature.
[01:53:15] Speaker B: Where's logo girl when you need her?
[01:53:16] Speaker G: I desperately want to make love.
[01:53:18] Speaker B: We need cheese girl.
[01:53:19] Speaker A: Now.
[01:53:24] Speaker B: Who'S canceled now? Who's canceled now?
[01:53:27] Speaker A: Probably me.
[01:53:27] Speaker B: You making a photo of fat people?
[01:53:30] Speaker A: I'm not just you.
[01:53:32] Speaker B: We're a whole race, basically.
[01:53:35] Speaker A: No way. You're just straight. Just finger bang their salad.
[01:53:41] Speaker C: You first get shocked, and then you get the shocker.
[01:53:46] Speaker B: You like to see almost naked. That's cool, man. Whatever.
I'm going to preface this by saying I didn't understand the assignment. Are you not entertained?
Are you not entertained?
Is this not why you were here?
