About a week from the shores of Lake Erie, America's team comes to the CLE to disappoint millions of fans around the country. So how good can this Browns team be? What's their ceiling? What's their floor? What are the potential stumbling blocks lying in wait? We'll break it all down for you. Next on the Burning river sportscast. [00:02:00] Speaker B: Don't miss Rachel mee. You want to be sore? [00:02:03] Speaker A: I'll make you sore. [00:02:05] Speaker B: We take one more big injury, we're basically. [00:02:11] Speaker A: Still. Don't put that puss. [00:02:14] Speaker B: Okay. Yeah, you don't do that. I think DTR is a good looking quarterback, and I think he's got a lot of. [00:02:18] Speaker A: He's a good looking guy. [00:02:20] Speaker B: He's sexually attracted to him. You guys are both kidding me. I was not expecting this. [00:02:28] Speaker A: Nice. [00:02:30] Speaker B: Whatever. There's nothing wrong with that. [00:02:32] Speaker A: I set something up. [00:02:33] Speaker B: Yeah. Are you paying attention to our podcast or are you in a fancy football league? I can't do it. Anything with this guy. I don't understand why he's even on the show. Bone, would you like to be the new co host? [00:02:43] Speaker A: Jamar Chase. [00:02:44] Speaker B: Russell Wilson is ass beignets, too. Benny, Benny, Benny. Hey, it's cuz. It's gonna be the big easiest. Yeah, I have. [00:02:53] Speaker A: I hear all the women are big and easy, too. [00:02:58] Speaker B: Kenny, just cause you're big and easy doesn't mean all the women are big and easy. He thought that was the best joke of all times. [00:03:05] Speaker C: You can't stop laughing. I mean, if you're listening to this, he is like convulsing in laughter. [00:03:09] Speaker B: It's terrible. It's his joke. He's laughing at his own joke. [00:03:14] Speaker A: Who's the guy that you're sexually attracted to? [00:03:15] Speaker B: Not nobody who was that? You said he was good looking. [00:03:20] Speaker C: What was that? [00:03:21] Speaker B: Nobody. [00:03:21] Speaker C: It was a brown splayer, right? [00:03:22] Speaker A: It's a DTR. [00:03:24] Speaker B: Don't know who you're talking about. [00:03:25] Speaker A: He's a good looking guy. [00:03:27] Speaker B: Next up, week 19 at Cincinnati. [00:03:30] Speaker A: Week 19? [00:03:31] Speaker B: Week 19. Why did it. [00:03:32] Speaker C: It's December 19. [00:03:34] Speaker A: What? [00:03:34] Speaker B: Week 16. You guys got me all flustered, telling me I'm attracted to DTR. Even 19 weeks I have the Browns winning eleven to four. Bone, who you got? Not eleven to four. That is happening right now. [00:03:50] Speaker C: Peter loves Dji. [00:03:55] Speaker A: Welcome into the burning river sportscast, presented by the fine folks at Tappin Media. I'm Kenny Thunder, as always, seated next to the man who single handedly caused all of the inflation and division in this country. And that's right, blame him. Red hot Ronnie jams back on the board, the best sound operator in the game. A man who is not only a great fighter, he's a legendary lover. Bone, would you say you make love like a panther or more like a hermit crab? [00:04:20] Speaker C: Oh, definitely like a panther. [00:04:22] Speaker B: Oh, darn nice. [00:04:23] Speaker C: Sleek, shiny. Yeah. Full of aggression. [00:04:27] Speaker B: You describe your lovemaking as sleek and shiny and full of aggression. [00:04:34] Speaker A: Back to red eye. [00:04:35] Speaker B: Never saw that coming. Geez. [00:04:37] Speaker A: Where can our listeners find the dopest dope they ever heard on a podcast, as well as the unofficial podcast of Cleveland brownsbackers everywhere? [00:04:46] Speaker B: In the official podcast of the Mile High brownsbackers, the Naples Brownsbackers, and North Jersey. The brownsbackers of North Jersey. That's correct. You can find our podcast wherever we get your podcast. I'm talking Apple podcast, Spotify, Stitcher, Amazon Music, YouTube music, Pandora, iHeartRadio, Pocketcast, Castro, Goodpods, and so many more. [00:05:28] Speaker A: If you haven't bought it yet, you're wrong. [00:05:29] Speaker B: Yeah, good stuff. Good. So we're adding something else today. What was it? [00:05:34] Speaker A: GPO de one shirts. [00:05:36] Speaker B: Gpo de oned? No, there's another one. It'll come to me. But anyways, today on the show. This is what you can look forward to. Unfortunately, we did have to reschedule our season preview party due to extenuating circumstances. Trust me, we're just as bummed as everyone else as we were really looking forward to it. However, we'll be reworking everything in that event or something very similar to it, possibly bigger and even better than what we were planning first place. [00:06:05] Speaker A: Like bones love making. [00:06:06] Speaker B: Yes. Will be happening in the future, so stay tuned for details. Those will be out as soon as we can put them out there. So for today, though, we will still be doing our season preview episode as planned. We'll discuss the Browns final 53, or at least the initial 53, how they stack up against the rest of the AFC north schedule. Game with record predictions. That'll be fun. Bold predictions for the season. Hot three gassed up. And we bring on our defensive expert and former Cleveland Browns defensive tackle, John Hughes. That's right. So grab the bread and bring some peanut butter because this show was jam packed. [00:06:38] Speaker A: Nice. [00:06:39] Speaker B: Let's get it started like we always do with the burning river news story of the week. Okay, so this week's burning of our news story of the week. There isn't one. You know why? Because our own Kenny Thunder is in the middle of a fantasy football draft that he asked me to help him with as I was searching for a new story of the week. So we are sans news story of the week, and instead we'll be helping Kenny with his fantasy football draft that is actively going on throughout the broadcast. [00:07:16] Speaker A: To be fair, you idiot. [00:07:19] Speaker B: Who schedules? I hate you. [00:07:21] Speaker A: I asked five weeks ago for this group as a reprieve and a reschedule, and they were like, nope. [00:07:28] Speaker B: Siri getting you. [00:07:29] Speaker A: That was my Siri, I think. [00:07:30] Speaker B: Yeah, Siri got you. She got me. Tell your fantasy football friends that I mean this with all due respect. Fuck you. [00:07:39] Speaker A: Yeah, I know. That's what I said. I was like, come on, guys. And, like, the good news is, like, half the guys couldn't make it for some reason. And, like, every time somebody was like, oh, I'm sorry, you're not gonna be there. I'm like, darn. Should have hit a different day. Like, usually, like, we're all there. It's a big money league. So, like, everybody shows up and there's lots of rules, and it's a dynasty league. [00:07:54] Speaker C: Like, in person. These people can't make it online? [00:07:57] Speaker A: Oh, no, they make it online, but it's usually, like a big get together because it's a big money league and it's a dynasty league. So there's a bunch of weird rules and stuff. [00:08:05] Speaker B: Not this year. [00:08:06] Speaker A: These guys have a rule book that is like, thick like a textbook. It's so ridiculous. The league's been going on for like 20 years, and I got involved in it somehow and now I can't get out. Cause, I mean, it's a dynasty league. [00:08:18] Speaker B: Tell us the origin of your name in that league, your team name. [00:08:23] Speaker A: Well, I was always one of my keepers is Nick Chubb. So I've been hot chubb time machine for most of my duration in the league. And I can't even remember what they changed it to last year. But they all got mad at me for some reason because they all expect me to suck because I took over a bad team when I came in. And it took a while to get my keepers right. [00:08:42] Speaker B: Mind you, these are guys that wouldn't let you change days for our. It was supposed to be a big event, and so again, f them, but go ahead. [00:08:51] Speaker A: So they changed it to like, I don't even like strip club douche or entrepreneur or something. Or butt cheeks clapping on dollars. Something weird. And so then I ended up changing it to it burns when I pee. [00:09:04] Speaker B: I like how you can't remember if it was strip club entrepreneur or butt cheeks clapping on dollars. [00:09:09] Speaker A: Something along those lines. Like, it was super long. And I was like, this is the dumbest name. You guys are so stupid. So now I'm just at Burns when I pee. [00:09:18] Speaker B: That's a good name. [00:09:19] Speaker A: Yeah, I guess. [00:09:20] Speaker B: Strong, strong name. But yeah. So no, no. New story of the week. Thanks a lot. What's the name of this league? [00:09:26] Speaker A: This is the dog Pound fantasy league. [00:09:29] Speaker B: Real original, guys. Thanks a lot to the dog pound fantasy league. All 5700 of you. And with that, let me tell you about the Nick Chubb football giveaway. That's right. For the second offseason in a row, we are giving away some autograph. Brown's memorabilia. [00:09:46] Speaker A: Yeah, this year I thought it was paraphernalia. [00:09:47] Speaker B: Yeah, last year. Last week it was paraphernalia. Now it's memorabilia. Nice. This year, Nick Chubb autographed football is what we're giving away. Right here. Right here. Autograph over there. You can see it. You kind of, the lights are bright. But there are ways that you can get entered for this thing and get bonus entries, I should say. Because there is only one way that you can actually enter to win this thing, and that's to be subscribed to our YouTube. [00:10:12] Speaker A: YouTube. [00:10:13] Speaker B: And I'm not telling you, you have to subscribe to our YouTube channel. I'm just telling you, I will be picking the winner from our YouTube subscribers. [00:10:19] Speaker A: If you would like to win, you should be subscribed on YouTube. Yeah, and why wouldn't you be subscribed on YouTube, since it's the only place you can find our full podcast episodes. [00:10:27] Speaker B: Correct? So, yeah, head to our socials, keep an eye out for more information, learn how you can earn bonus entries. Get entered, follow us on YouTube. And yeah, there's a link in our show notes to the giveaway as well as our YouTube page. [00:10:41] Speaker A: I'm actually going to miss this one. It's gone. It's a nice, like, centerpiece for our anchor desk here. It's the old, you know, four panel, three white panels. Has the, obviously, the autograph, the embroidered helmet on the front and then the embossing on the back that has all of the NFL championship dates and the establishment date of the. [00:10:58] Speaker B: It's a nice looking football. We might have to get another one. [00:11:01] Speaker A: Yeah. Yeah. [00:11:03] Speaker B: And then one last thing before we get to the browns, let me remind you to call the burger sportscast hot take hotline. Don't forget to call and leave your hot takes on the hot take hotline. Remember, these are hot takes. We want hot, hot takes. [00:11:15] Speaker A: We want hot takes. Since the beginning of the season. [00:11:31] Speaker B: We want to hear. [00:11:32] Speaker A: We want to hear what's going on that stupid little mind of yours. We want to hear just what's going on on game day when we think. [00:11:39] Speaker B: Weird things are going on in the stupid little minds of ours. [00:11:41] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:11:42] Speaker B: Yeah. We want to know. [00:11:42] Speaker A: We want to know. [00:11:43] Speaker B: Call and tell us. [00:11:44] Speaker C: We're putting it out there. You guys might as well as well. [00:11:46] Speaker A: That's right. Put it out there. [00:11:48] Speaker B: Yeah. And with that, let's get into the burning river rundown. [00:11:51] Speaker A: Put it on. [00:11:54] Speaker B: In. I knew what you were talking about. Don't miss Rachel. Me. [00:12:00] Speaker A: Burning river rundown. [00:12:06] Speaker B: Well, as you can tell, we both have young children. [00:12:10] Speaker A: So many children. [00:12:11] Speaker B: Either that or Kenny's just watching Miss Rachel for fun. [00:12:14] Speaker A: It's not bad looking. Watch her long enough. [00:12:18] Speaker B: But anyways, let's start things off with the final preseason game that was played on Saturday in Seattle. The Browns lost 27 to 22. I will say this, it was probably the most entertaining of all the preseason games. That's the right score. It's 27 27 22. I thought it was 27 22. [00:12:33] Speaker A: That doesn't sound right. I feel like there's more points scored in that game. [00:12:35] Speaker B: I apologize. It's typo. It was 37.33. I was fat fingering. All the threes turned into twos. [00:12:45] Speaker A: 37 33, right? [00:12:47] Speaker B: Yeah, all the threes turned into. [00:12:49] Speaker A: Sounds better. I was like, that sounds like the score of the end of the third quarter. [00:12:53] Speaker B: See what happens when I'm going too fast? 30. [00:12:56] Speaker A: Whoa. [00:12:56] Speaker B: He added so many threes to that live. But anyways, the Browns lost 37 33. I stand by. What I said, though, is the most entertaining of all the preseason games. [00:13:07] Speaker A: 100%. This was the first time all preseason that this team looked like there was anybody that wanted to fight for a roster spot on it. [00:13:15] Speaker B: There were at least a few people. [00:13:16] Speaker A: That wanted it kind of slow. But then, like, something clicked about midway through that first quarter where they were like, all right, we're playing football again. There was even some. Like, even from a scheme standpoint, there was a few blitz plates and things that they threw in there. [00:13:29] Speaker B: So I think Tyler Huntley, too, realized, like, I might not make this team. [00:13:33] Speaker A: So, yeah, he balled out there once he got a chance to play. They get through three touchdowns in the second half there. So, yeah, they just finally looked like a team that wanted to play football for the first time all preseason, which was good to see. [00:13:45] Speaker B: Yeah, it was much needed. Kind of like, it injected some hope into us, like, oh, there is some life in football team. [00:13:54] Speaker A: The preseason was so flat. Cause it was really all backups playing, so nothing to get excited about. You couldn't see any of the starters, and even in this game, it was all backups. But this was at least the kind of, like, fight you want to see out of guys that are trying to make a roster. [00:14:06] Speaker B: This is a pretty good segue to what I'm about to say is this was still. Even though this was a little bit more entertaining, it was still a preseason game. And here's the bottom line. Most of the guys that were playing in that game aren't even on our team. [00:14:16] Speaker A: All got cut. [00:14:17] Speaker B: Uh, so before we get to the. The initial 53 here, let's, uh, let's start with this is it. Do you guys think, you know, Deshaun Watson was supposed to play in this game? [00:14:27] Speaker A: Speaking of that, one more note about this game. Uh, they threw out on a really bogus play call. Um, they threw out one of our linebackers that they didn't make the team. But it's just like, it just really pissed me off because I'm, look, I'm like, first off, the call was wrong on the field, but also, it's like, this is a guy that's fighting for a spot on the team. Like, this is his audition, and you're going to toss him, like, after a personal foul penalty. And the thing was, is he hit the guy with his shoulder pads. He was a totally clean hit. Like, the NFL's got to do something about that. I know it's preseason for the rest, too, but, like, you can't be throwing guys out of the game for. [00:15:00] Speaker B: I feel like the whole season is preseason for the refs. [00:15:02] Speaker A: True, but you can't be tossing guys out of the game for making legal hits. [00:15:06] Speaker B: No, that's, that's bad. That's bad news. Bears. [00:15:09] Speaker A: Winston. Winston Reed. [00:15:10] Speaker B: I think it was, but yeah. So going into this game, there's a lot of confusion, right? There. Was Watson going to play? Is he not going to play? He was supposed to play. They said he was going to play all preseason long, but then all of a sudden he had a little bit of soreness during the week and his, that's what it sounded like to me. It sounded like the coaches realized, oh, shit, this game's at 10:00 p.m. eastern. We probably should, and we don't have any offensive lines. We don't have any offensive lineman. We probably shouldn't have our starting quarterback playing in this game. So you want to be sore? You want to be sore? [00:15:43] Speaker A: I'll make you sore. [00:15:44] Speaker B: But I don't know. I mean, what are your guys thoughts? Like I said, so he didn't end up playing in any preseason games. And a lot of people were making a big deal about this, saying it's awful. And whatever else you guys have, you think one way or the other on that. [00:15:56] Speaker A: Yeah, look, I think especially for contact guys, it's important for them to get in there and hit and get hit prior to the season. I need my quarterback to get hit as little as possible, especially one that has coming off of a significant injury. I don't think it's a big deal at your quarterback. Cause the quarterback really like his game speed, but he's also working speed and timing routes with his receivers all week anyway, so. And frankly, none of those guys played. None of his starting receivers played right. In fact, most of his receivers haven't really been healthy during camp. So I think, if anything, I'm just worried that, like, this unit hasn't practiced our season practice. [00:16:34] Speaker B: The first three games of our season is our preseason. [00:16:36] Speaker A: It's gonna be for the offense, I think, especially because, I mean, Jerry Judy missed a lot of time. It's like Deshawn obviously had off days where he wasn't thrown at all. So this, this team as a unit has not had a ton of time. Obviously, there's still a week to go here where they're going to prepare for the Dallas Cowboys. But, you know, hopefully they'll, they'll have enough time to mesh. But it's also a lot of returning guys, too. Same offense. Like, we have stability for the first time in a long time, which is important, I think. But, yeah, I mean, look, we've said it all offseason. Deshaun Watson is your biggest question mark coming into this season. You don't know if he's going to be good, mediocre or bad, and we still don't know. It's going to be like voting for Kamala Harris. Like, vote for me and see what I'll do. [00:17:22] Speaker B: Bone, are you concerned at all? [00:17:23] Speaker C: No, I'm not concerned. I'm happy they didn't play them. Like you said, the time difference. He already had limited time on the field with the guys anyways. Like one series or two series against Seattle. What's that going to do? Yeah, you know, he had, he had some game speed stuff, I believe, against Minnesota when they were in town, and from everything I heard that everything went really well with that as far as, and we talked about practice stuff. [00:17:46] Speaker B: So on last week's episode, like, why was it predetermined that he was playing in this game anyways? Like, to me, they made the right call because you look at the circumstances leading up to the game, you don't just say weeks ahead of time. Yeah, he's going to play in week three of the preseason. [00:18:02] Speaker A: It was kind of weird, honestly, like, and that kind of was going around the NFL. A lot of starters played in week three, which just was strange. It was strange. Seems strange to me. I know there was a fair amount of quarterbacks, especially, that sat out the entire preseason, but in general, it looked like most teams try to get their starters on the field in this third preseason game. And I don't really understand why it was so important this close to the start of the regular season to put guys in harm's way. I don't know, but they did, and. [00:18:26] Speaker B: You made a good, you brought up a good point there. So I couldn't find the actual graphic, but there was a graphic going around social media that showed, like, all the starting quarterbacks throughout the league that didn't play a single down in the NFL, and Deshaun Watson was one of, like, in the preseason or in the preseason, Deshaun Watson was one of like eight to ten that didn't play a single down. It's like, okay, so why is anybody complaining that he didn't play? Like, why is he different than other starters? [00:18:52] Speaker A: I mean, look, here's the thing. [00:18:53] Speaker B: If anything, he's got more reason not to play. [00:18:55] Speaker A: Sean Watson didn't forget how to play football over the offseason. [00:18:58] Speaker B: Right. [00:18:58] Speaker A: You know, he's. He's deep into his career. That's the case with a lot of veterans. Like, there's just no need to have them out on the field unless you're in some kind of position battle, you know, type deal. So. [00:19:09] Speaker B: And that, and that's externally talking about quarterbacks throughout the league. Let's turn it internally. How many guys on the Browns roster right now did not play a single snap in the preseason? [00:19:17] Speaker A: Oh, right. Yeah. I mean, when you look at the. [00:19:19] Speaker B: Like twelve to 15 of them that didn't play a single snap. [00:19:22] Speaker A: Like, actually when they made all the cuts. And I know we'll get to the names here in a minute, but, like, when I made all the cuts, I shed a tear because it was like, these are the guys that I've been watching for the last three weeks. Like, that was the whole team got cut. Cause it was all backups. It was playing. [00:19:32] Speaker B: You really did shed a tear. [00:19:33] Speaker A: I was just like, I liked that guy. Like, you know, he was starting to grow on me. Me, you know, honeycutting some of these names you kept hearing. [00:19:39] Speaker B: Cause, like, sensitive style of Kenny Thunder. [00:19:42] Speaker A: I'm a sensitive man. [00:19:43] Speaker B: No, you're not. But no. So before we get to the 53, there's just a couple notes here. Brown's players activated off the pup list and NFI lists kind of leading up to this. Offensive lineman Jack Conklin, offensive tackle Jed Wills, safety D'Anthony Bell, cornerback Greg Newsome, and defensive tackle Dalvin Tomlinson all activated. These Browns will be starting the season on the pup or NFI lists. Running back Nick Chubb, running back Naheem Hines, offensive lineman Michael Dunn, and then finally, Michael hall, junior, officially placed on the commissioners exempt list. So he will miss an undetermined amount of time. At this point, he's going to continue to be paid and can be at the team's facility for meetings, individual workouts, therapy, rehab and other permitted non football activities, but cannot play or practice and does not count against the final 53. Three. So I'm on the clock sorry. It's here. It's here. Who do you got? Who do you got? Who we choose between Kenny's fantasy football, the dog pound league, whatever. [00:20:50] Speaker A: I kind of need a backup quarterback, and they seem to be coming off the board, so I need to get one of these guys before. [00:20:55] Speaker B: What are the options? [00:20:56] Speaker A: No one left. Let's see here. Kobe Brissette. That's not good. These are the, uh, Joe Burrows out here. That's probably a good backup. [00:21:07] Speaker B: God. Go with Joe Burrow. [00:21:08] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:21:08] Speaker A: Derek Carr. [00:21:10] Speaker B: You probably don't have to read any other ones. I'd probably go with Joe Burrow. [00:21:12] Speaker A: Cousins. [00:21:13] Speaker B: Kirk Cousins could throw for some yards, too. [00:21:15] Speaker A: Justin Fields, Flacco. [00:21:16] Speaker C: Who's your starting quarterback? [00:21:18] Speaker A: Lamar Jackson. [00:21:19] Speaker B: Okay, but I'd go Joe Burrow. [00:21:21] Speaker A: Yeah. I'm surprised he's even available, but, yeah, I'll take. I'll take Joey B. [00:21:28] Speaker B: It was your turn to pick. [00:21:29] Speaker A: That's a. I turned that thing off. I'm back to back. [00:21:33] Speaker C: Not taking no for an answer. [00:21:39] Speaker B: But yeah. So Michael hall, junior, on the exempt list, at least for the first part of the season here, but. So the Browns, they announced their final 53, right? Bone. [00:21:52] Speaker C: Sorry, what was that? [00:21:53] Speaker B: I said the Browns announced their final 53. [00:21:55] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:21:58] Speaker B: And so what we got to look at here is, are there any surprises? Is the main thing. So I think the biggest surprise to everybody was the running back situation. Dante Foreman and Aidan Robbins both got cut. And so that leaves us with just Naheem Hines, who's not starting the season on the roster. Nick Chubb, obviously, who's out for the first four weeks. And then we have Pierre strong and Jerome Ford are the only two active, healthy running backs. [00:22:28] Speaker A: Yeah, I mean, I think this was like, it was a sticker shock thing when it happened. There only have two running backs on the roster. It looks like Foreman will likely be back more of a clerical thing. Obviously, they kept four quarterbacks, so they're going to move one of the quarterbacks that open up a roster spot. So my guess is unless. Unless my team comes back in the stealthy leg in any day now, which, according to Stefanski, it sounds like he's close. So if they feel good with just having Naheem Hines back, then fine. But it sounds to me, at least what I'm, what I've heard is that Foreman would back relatively quickly, probably by the end of this week. [00:22:59] Speaker B: All right. And then another one that I thought was a surprise. Defensive tackle siaki ika got cut real quick, guys. [00:23:07] Speaker A: Tight end Cole Comet, Dallas Goddard, Dalton Schultz, Tyler Conklin. Any of those names get you hot in the pants. [00:23:14] Speaker C: Comet still play for the Bears? [00:23:16] Speaker A: Tyler Higbee? Yeah, Comet still plays for the Bears. He's the highest ranked, like, in this group. [00:23:21] Speaker C: Yeah, I don't really like any of them, but a good commit, I probably go, Schultz. [00:23:27] Speaker A: He's in Houston with Stroud. [00:23:30] Speaker B: Didn't you just take a Houston running back? [00:23:32] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:23:33] Speaker B: Go the other guy. Go commit. [00:23:34] Speaker A: Go on, commit. And hoping to kill Williams. Works out. [00:23:36] Speaker B: Yeah. Rookie quarterback gonna have to throw down to his tight end a lot. [00:23:41] Speaker A: Check it off. [00:23:41] Speaker B: Yep. [00:23:42] Speaker A: All right, back to the show. [00:23:43] Speaker B: This is really ruining the flow, but, yeah, defensive tackle saki ika got cut, so, I mean, that was surprising. He's only a second year. What was he, a third or fourth round pick, something like that last year? Fifth round pick? [00:23:56] Speaker A: Round pick. Look, I'll say, like I said when I drafted him, he looked like the most unathletic guy I've ever seen. And he didn't play much more athletic than he looked. [00:24:06] Speaker B: I've never seen a bigger, like, that big of a guy get just completely manhandled by so many people in my life. Like, you watch replay sometimes and he was just getting tossed around. [00:24:17] Speaker A: And my guess is, like, because he's an injury bear draft pick, he's probably a guy they'll want to keep on the practice squad. Keep in mind, like, they can keep 16 guys around. So it's just a matter of, like, do they want to put them in the face of waivers? Obviously, they already waived them, so they don't care. But, you know, I would think Siaki is one of those guys that makes his way to the practice squad. [00:24:37] Speaker B: Yeah, possibly. I know they've already named some people onto the practice squad, so I don't have him making it as of right now. But I know that changes kind of thrilled out as things develop. [00:24:46] Speaker A: It's only the first 53. It's not the final 53. [00:24:48] Speaker B: I know, I know. Another surprise here. Defensive tackle Juwan Briggs was cut. He did end up on the practice squad. He's already made his way to the practice squad, but I'm still surprised because he was a pick this year. They used a pick on him this year and wasn't. He was. He was a late round, I think. 7th round. Yeah. [00:25:07] Speaker A: I mean, he's just a casualty of the fact that the defensive front is so deep. So now I'll say this, it can't hurt to have a guy that can do 39 reps on the bench press. [00:25:16] Speaker B: That's, that's pretty good. [00:25:18] Speaker A: Your team somewhere. So maybe, maybe his name on social. [00:25:22] Speaker B: Media is Juwan the silverback. [00:25:23] Speaker A: As, as attrition kicks in during the season, maybe he's the guy they end up calling back up. So we'll see. [00:25:29] Speaker B: But then a couple other things here. Just one, one surprise to me. I was surprised David Bell made the team shocking. We, I think we all thought his time was up cause he hadn't done much. [00:25:40] Speaker A: I know you love his Venus flytrap. [00:25:41] Speaker B: He's a Venus fly trap. [00:25:42] Speaker A: David Bella's ass. I'm like, I'm calling it. It's like rip, bro, like, you're done. You're not. [00:25:47] Speaker B: He made the team. [00:25:48] Speaker A: You're not in the NFL anymore. I mean, for now. [00:25:50] Speaker B: Yeah, I know you. [00:25:51] Speaker A: Anthony Stewart's made this team once, too, so. [00:25:53] Speaker B: That's true. I know a guy you were talking up in the preseason. Here was Amari and Brown. He got cut. [00:25:59] Speaker A: He got cut. Yeah. I mean, he was the sub 4340 guy. So I was hoping that he would at least find his way to maybe returning kicks, but unfortunately not. I mean, obviously, again, this was another room that was pretty well set when they brought Jerry Judy and they already had Elijah Moore, two draft picks last year, and Jamari Thrash came in and had a really nice preseason. [00:26:22] Speaker B: Well, and he was one of the ones I was going to highlight a little bit later, but Jamari thrash, I will say this, he's been probably the biggest surprise just as far as how well he's played in the preseason. [00:26:32] Speaker A: He won whatever the preseason MVP award is for the Browns that I forget they call it, but it's the bullet in the cough or whatever it is that they give to the best preseason performer, best linebacker. [00:26:41] Speaker B: But, but, yeah, he, he looks good in the preseason. And there's even like outside of Cleveland, there's some, some sports news stations here that are reporting that he's, he's possibly like this year's Puka Nakua. So, like, he's getting attention around the league. Like they, people have seen him play and they think he's good. So I, I like Jamari thrash. I think he showed a lot of promise. Good on him to make that, that squad with a packed wide receiver room. [00:27:12] Speaker A: Yeah, look, I think just hearing him talk in interviews, it's very humble kid. So I'm excited about it. I think, I think he has a potential to be kind of what they envisioned Elijah Moore being like, but like more of the gadget guy. But we'll see what happens. [00:27:31] Speaker B: And then, I know, staying in the wide receiver room, Michael Woods, Jalen Darden, and James pro Shane all got cut. [00:27:39] Speaker A: There was a lot of, a lot of heartburn about those guys getting cut. [00:27:42] Speaker B: And Mike woods, they're on the practice squad now, but I mean, really, none. [00:27:47] Speaker A: Of those guys super impressed me. I mean, we were happy to have crochet last year because he could at least catch a punt. [00:27:52] Speaker B: Here's the thing. Here's the wide receiver room. Outside of David Bell, who we already talked about, the wide receiver room is Amare Cooper, Jerry Judy, Elijah Moore, Jamari thrash and Cedric Tillman. Which one of those guys are you getting rid of for one of these guys? Guys. No, no, I said outside of David Bell because we already talked about. Yeah, but even still, I'm just saying, like. [00:28:11] Speaker A: Yeah, I mean, is David. Is David Bell? I mean, from a, who's better than David Bell, even out of that group? I mean, I would. I would substitute any of those guys for David Bell because David Bell is trash, but. [00:28:22] Speaker B: And you're really shitting on David Bell. [00:28:24] Speaker A: I'm done with David Bell. Yeah, he can ride the bench all year, but none of those guys also, I mean, Michael woods had that great touchdown catch at the end of the game from Huntley where he stuck. He snuck both feet inside on the goal line. But, but yeah, none of those guys were big dudes. Andrew Barry's got a receiver problem. The receiver room right now is okay, but he's got a receiver picking problem. I mean, think about the guys that these guys drafted. Anthony shorts, David Bell, Cedric Tillman. The jury still out on Mike woods? Like, who are these guys? What is he doing? [00:29:01] Speaker B: I don't know. [00:29:02] Speaker C: Only one I ever heard of was Pochet. That's just because he came in and caught punts last year. [00:29:07] Speaker B: He did so well, too, at a time when we had terrible partner turners. [00:29:11] Speaker A: Well, I don't even think he was a. He was a draft guy. I think he was an undrafted guy that we ended up signing. So abs got some problems picking receivers. [00:29:17] Speaker B: Yeah, he does for sure, but let's go. Let's move back to the running back room. We've already mentioned it. Pierre Strong, Jerome Ford are the only two healthy ones. Naim Hines on the reserve non football injury list right now, should start the season there potentially. And Nick Chubb is on the pup list. He's going to be out at least the first four weeks. And one, one note I had on this is Adam Schefter reported. And looking back, I mean, hindsight being 2020, we all should have known he was going to miss the first four weeks. Most likely yeah, because I know I got excited and I wanted him to play week one and whatever, but most roster bonuses, which Nick Chubb has included in his contract, most roster bonuses require 17 games active. His is a rare exception, and it only quiet requires twelve games active. So that should have told us off to rip that they're shooting for him to miss the first four or five games of the season. [00:30:13] Speaker A: Yeah. It wouldn't have been very fair of them to put stipulations in his contract that he had to acquire their statistics over ND. [00:30:22] Speaker B: We're going to do right by you and give you these incentives so you can earn all your money, but you can't hit them, but you can't earn this money. Yeah. I work for a sales organization, and it's like my third one I've worked for, and sales organizations are notorious for that. [00:30:35] Speaker A: So sometimes they bring pizza. [00:30:37] Speaker B: Occasionally we do get pizza parties. We do get pizza parties. [00:30:41] Speaker A: No money, but pizza. [00:30:42] Speaker B: Yeah. And then in front of the running backs, blocking for them. The Browns o line has been just a mess all through the preseason, but we did get some, some reinforcements with Conklin back and practicing and Jed Wills back but not practicing yet. That wrinkle has, has caused reports to come out that Conklin will slide to the left tackle position to start the season. Now, he did play left tackle in college, so maybe not as big of an adjustment as we may be thinking, but, I mean, what are your thoughts on this, on Conklin playing left tackle? [00:31:16] Speaker A: Bizarre. First off, I think, look, we had these conversations with, like, John Greco, right. [00:31:22] Speaker B: About, like, you just can't slide back and forth. [00:31:24] Speaker A: It's not that he's moving positions from one side of the line. [00:31:26] Speaker B: He may have played there in college, but he's played his entire career right tackle, hadn't he? [00:31:30] Speaker A: Yeah. I mean, he's been right tackle for a long time now. That being said, we're not sure even if Jed Wells is healthy, if he's any good. So having a guy that is maybe just as good as a bad Jed Wills on the left side of your line, like switching positions, you can get away with. Trust Jack Conklin more. [00:31:49] Speaker B: Absolutely. [00:31:50] Speaker A: Don't trust the fact that he's been injured a bunch of times, but in terms of being a player, trust Jack Conklin more. This offensive line is starting to become a concern in terms of depth for this season outside of Deshaun. I know that's kind of the big question mark, but this offensive line is the next piece of this team that, again, we look at this roster, we all feel really good about this roster. We feel like this is the best roster on paper that the Browns have put together, certainly in our lifetime since they were rebirthed in 99. [00:32:15] Speaker B: Just. Just the names alone on the offensive line, you're like, holy shit, this thing's stacked. But then you actually think about who's injured and what's going on and. [00:32:22] Speaker A: Yeah, and the depth that's there. Not super great. So Zach Zinter is probably the one guy, like, I feel like I'm feel pretty good about. He seems to be a mauler, but he's got to stay healthy, too, so I'm excited. [00:32:37] Speaker B: This next guy that I wanted to bring up, Jayveon cohen out of Miami, was a nice surprise to make the roster. Undrafted free agent out of Miami. He's looked really good in the preseason. I know they're playing against backups, but as far as, like, a depth piece, I'm actually excited to have him. It seems like another kind of diamond in the rough that Andrew Barry's been able to find with the undrafted free agent agents. But, no, I mean, the other good news we have on the offensive line is that Michael Dunn will be returning here sometime soon. I know he's. He's technically on the reserve NFI list, but they're saying he's pretty close as well, so we should be getting him back. [00:33:14] Speaker A: Yeah, they were calling me hoax. I didn't pick. I'm sorry. [00:33:20] Speaker B: Man. [00:33:21] Speaker A: These guys are ruthless. [00:33:22] Speaker B: Wait till they. Wait till they hear our podcast when it comes out. [00:33:26] Speaker A: They actually just sent me a picture. They're listening. Listening to. It's on the tv at the patio. I was like, that's like, it's gotta be. This is a short, but that's gotta be, like, one of our first episodes. That was back. [00:33:38] Speaker B: Oh, yeah, that was back. The old studio. That was back when we looked like Bone studio over there. Literally. Our first studio is. Bone's. Like, he's the guy in the booth now. Our first studio is the booth. [00:33:51] Speaker C: Yeah, over here in my nook. [00:33:52] Speaker B: Yeah. Thanks, Bone. But, yeah. So Michael Dunn will be back soon, so they're at least getting some reinforcements. Reinforcements. I like the promise of Jayveon Cohen. I think the off offensive, the offensive line is going to be okay this year, assuming they can get somewhat healthy. [00:34:10] Speaker A: We take, like, one man's opinion. [00:34:12] Speaker B: We take one more big injury, we're basically fucked. Like, it's going to be bad. [00:34:19] Speaker A: Is that a good message? [00:34:20] Speaker B: A week before the season, no one. [00:34:21] Speaker A: More effed in the a down to one? [00:34:24] Speaker B: No, but let's, let's close things out on the roster here with the quarter quarterbacks. Kept four quarterbacks this year. Do you think. [00:34:36] Speaker C: What happened last year. [00:34:38] Speaker B: So that leads me to this. Is that a lesson learned? Is that, was that like, holy shit. [00:34:42] Speaker A: Last year we got a half four on the Roth. [00:34:44] Speaker B: Yeah. Do you think there was a little bit of that this year with the decision to keep four? [00:34:49] Speaker A: Absolutely not. Look, I think everybody knows, probably the worst guy's secret in all of football, that Andrew Barry wants to turn one of these guys into a draft pick, a la. He did with Kate York. Right. You sign a guy for nothing, get a draft pick for something. Smart move on his part. If I'm the rest of the NFL, I'm just going to stand pat and wait because he has to cut one of them eventually. You're not going to go into the. [00:35:13] Speaker B: Season before quarterbacks, do you think? A little bit of it and we'll get into this here soon. But like, the Baltimore ravens are in desperate need, in my opinion, of another quarterback to put on the roster as a backup for Lamar. Cause Lamar doesn't have the best track record of staying healthy either. Do you think keeping Huntley was like a move there where it was like, let's not let them get him back right away. [00:35:35] Speaker A: Look, if they're thinking that deep into it, I love the thought process. I mean, I honestly, I think, you know, and we've talked off air a bunch about these quarterbacks and where we think they stand and where they rank in terms of ability. Look, this is a guy that has won games in the NFL and won games for the Baltimore Ravens. So, yeah, I mean, I don't know that they have a good backup there. And he's obviously guy that had a hard time staying healthy. He plays a physical brand of football. He's going to get hit at some point this year. [00:36:04] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:36:04] Speaker A: Just matter whether he gets back up. [00:36:07] Speaker B: And one of the craziest things here, you mentioned shopping these guys for draft picks, Andrew Barry, shopping these guys for draft picks. The craziest thing to me is literally every single one of them have been the object of trade rumors so far. DTR, Huntley and even Winston, which it was later reported that they never actually fielded any trade calls for Winston and they never planned to. That was just speculation. [00:36:31] Speaker A: Put that post. [00:36:34] Speaker B: Okay. Yeah. You don't. [00:36:35] Speaker A: I don't put it past Andrew Barry, though. If you, if you thought you could get a fourth round pick out of a guy that you signed off the street, I mean, maybe maybe. [00:36:45] Speaker B: I think they keep Winston just because of the. We talked about it, Liz, a little bit before the show. I think Winston is almost untouchable for the browns. Not untouchable. The fact, like you're saying, if somebody came to them and they were like, we'll give you a second or a third round pick for them, they would take it immediately. [00:37:01] Speaker A: Well, I think they know they got burned last year not having a plan. [00:37:04] Speaker B: Yes. And Winston is a plan, and it was a plan. [00:37:08] Speaker A: It was a problem all year. Yeah. And you can't. This roster is too good. You can't waste another year of miles, another year of Denzel, another year of partial Nick Chubb with goofing around, with not having a quarterback. At least if Deshaun Watson needs to miss a week or two to a sprain or shoulders not ready right yet. Like you feel comfortable with a guy that was a first round pick and is thrown for as many yards of touchdowns as Jameis Winston has. Plus, he gives a hell of a speech to get things going. [00:37:38] Speaker B: Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. They're the best. I'll tune into the pre game. I actually think that DTR is almost in that same category. They did field calls for DTR just to see what people would give up, but I think that the price tag is probably a lot higher than most people expect it to be. DTR shown a lot of promise to me. He's young and he's athletic and one. [00:38:04] Speaker A: That they said was safe. [00:38:06] Speaker B: Well, and to me, I just look at DTR as, I'll be honest. I mean, he's the heir apparent to Deshaun Watson. When Deshaun Watson's contract is up, like he's. That's who's going to take over the football team. He plays a similar brand of football. He's very athletic. He makes good decisions for the most part. I think last year he got thrown into a bad situation. That's part of the reason why he wasn't real successful in the regular season. [00:38:27] Speaker A: Sure. [00:38:28] Speaker B: But I think GTR is a good looking quarterback, and I think he's got a lot of promise. [00:38:31] Speaker A: He's a good looking guy. He's sexually attracted to him. [00:38:34] Speaker B: I love. You guys are both kidding me. I was not expecting this. [00:38:41] Speaker A: Nice. [00:38:43] Speaker B: Whatever. There's nothing wrong with that. [00:38:45] Speaker A: We'll set something up. [00:38:46] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:38:46] Speaker C: We'll let him know about you. [00:38:50] Speaker A: I don't know what Christian's doing. [00:38:51] Speaker B: I don't know. [00:38:52] Speaker A: So, look, agreed. I think he has a ton of potential. This team, again, hearing all same things. This team is really high on him, was comfortable with him being in number two. [00:39:04] Speaker B: If not, I hate you guys. [00:39:08] Speaker A: And look, you know, the future could be now. You know, you talk about. [00:39:15] Speaker C: This year. [00:39:16] Speaker A: Yeah, they could be eyeing that down saying, I mean, shoot, if Deshawn has another bad year, let's just say, let's say he plays all 17 games, but he's just nothing very good. [00:39:27] Speaker B: He throws for 2700 yards. [00:39:29] Speaker A: Well, let's make it respectable. I mean, he's not a, let's say he throws for like 3200 yards, but he throws for like 14 touchdowns and 18 picks. You know, it's one of those years he's probably not. Yeah, you know, like you're probably done with the Deshaun Watson experiment. You're going to, I mean, now how they get out of that from a cap situation, all the money, like, it's going to be tricky. You know, they're going to do some kind of contract buy out with him. Uh, but again, my point is the past is past. The future could be now with your, um, maybe by the end of the season. So. [00:40:03] Speaker B: Yeah, I agree. Yeah, we'll see. But, um, no, so I mean that's, that's, you know, the only things that I had as far as items for the 53 so far, um, not a lot of surprises really. I mean, just the, just the handful that we already talked about. Did you guys have anything that jumped out at you on the 53? [00:40:26] Speaker A: The other thing, I don't know we touched on this at all, but the tight ends being thin with only two. [00:40:30] Speaker B: Tight ends, we like to run multiple tight end sets all the time. [00:40:33] Speaker A: It seems like as the roster kind of flesh itself out, that might be another position that they add to at tight end. Outside of that, look, I think this was, you knew just looking at the preseason roster, most of who was going to get cut and there were very few surprises. Again, we talked about like Foreman. We think he'll probably be back. There really weren't a lot of other guys that you were like, you know, a couple of those bubble receiver guys. But you know, look, this, this roster has been pretty set, so I feel good about it. Outside of Deshawn and the depth on the other line, I think it could, could be an issue year in the season. [00:41:13] Speaker B: Yeah. And so with that, let's take a quick trip around the AFC north. We'll start with Cincinnati. Twelve rookies on their final 53. Initial 50, 312 rookies. [00:41:26] Speaker A: Twelve rookies. This is a team that everybody keeps saying is going to win the AFC north. Like, like without question. Yeah, you turned over almost a quarter of your team with guys that have never played it down in the NFL, and somehow they got better this offseason. [00:41:39] Speaker B: They're so much better. [00:41:40] Speaker A: I mean, they're better because Joe Burrow is somewhat healthy. I guess we'll see what happens. I mean, I just picked him in my fantasy league, so hopefully he's great. But, yeah, I just. I still don't know where, like, where the world is seeing this influx of new talent that is going to take them to the next level. What? Mike Gasicki. Is that the title? That's what taking you to the future. That's the past. The future's now. It's Mike Gasicki. [00:42:06] Speaker B: It's Mike Gasicki. [00:42:08] Speaker A: I mean, honestly, like, I. [00:42:10] Speaker B: What if Kosicki just goes off number one tight end in fantasy football? [00:42:13] Speaker A: Maybe I'll draft him next. [00:42:15] Speaker C: There's. I think there's just a general love affair of Joe Burrow in the NFL. [00:42:19] Speaker B: I think you're probably because of the. [00:42:20] Speaker C: One year he took him to the Super bowl, which is a great resume, don't get me wrong, but I thought he was completely average last year. Maybe he had a hurt hand. [00:42:29] Speaker B: He was. [00:42:30] Speaker C: Whatever that was. [00:42:31] Speaker A: Yeah, he was hurt for most of last year. And Jacob Browning played pretty well in his stead. [00:42:35] Speaker C: But did they still have him? Browning? [00:42:37] Speaker A: Yeah, and they got his wife, too. She's the best. She's the best part of that since today. Bagels team? [00:42:43] Speaker B: The entire team. [00:42:44] Speaker A: The whole team. Yeah. His wife. She's nice looking. She's easy on the eyes. [00:42:47] Speaker C: Who do they got running the ball? No more Joe Mixon. [00:42:50] Speaker A: It's. I think it's a stable of Joe's. [00:42:54] Speaker C: Just a bunch of. [00:42:55] Speaker B: No, they got a. They got a name. [00:42:57] Speaker A: I don't think it's a good one. [00:43:00] Speaker B: Keep it. [00:43:01] Speaker C: Are you looking it up, Ronnie? [00:43:02] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:43:02] Speaker C: All right. I won't. [00:43:04] Speaker A: Sorry. I'm on the clock right now, so I can't. [00:43:06] Speaker B: Why do you keep doing this to us? Zach Moss is who? [00:43:09] Speaker A: That guy? Yeah. Because he could win a starting job in Buffalo. He's going to be good in Cincinnati. [00:43:14] Speaker B: Good work. So I take it back. They don't. They don't have a name. And then they still have Jamar Chase. He's. They came out yesterday, Sunday, which was 827. They came out and said, or, I'm sorry, Tuesday, which was 827. And Zach Taylor said, we expect Jamar Chase to start this season. We expect him to practice the rest of the way through and start the season for us. Well, today he didn't practice. So Jamar Chase is once again holding in. Holding, holding out, holding in. [00:43:48] Speaker A: He's holding it. I have thoughts on Jamar in a second, but Tank Dell or Jackson Smith and Jigba. [00:43:53] Speaker B: Jackson Smith and Jigba, you feel good about that? [00:43:56] Speaker A: Or tank Dell is pretty tank. [00:43:58] Speaker C: CJ Stroud thrown to him. [00:44:00] Speaker B: He's also coming off big injury and they've got a crowded wide receiver room. [00:44:03] Speaker C: They got rid of Noah Brown. [00:44:05] Speaker B: Yeah, but they picked up somebody else. Why do you keep doing this to me? I'm not the guy. [00:44:13] Speaker A: Totally just side checking the show. [00:44:15] Speaker B: I hate you. This is the worst thing that's ever happened. If you ever do a fantasy draft ever again during our show, I will kill you. [00:44:21] Speaker A: I've been trying to not do fantasy football anymore. This is my last league I'm down to. [00:44:25] Speaker B: Yeah, it should be. [00:44:27] Speaker C: Isn't. So Tank Dell is not their primary dude down there? [00:44:31] Speaker B: No. [00:44:34] Speaker A: I feel like he's one of them. I mean, I feel like he caught like a. For a million yards for like four straight weeks. [00:44:40] Speaker B: And then you like, they've got Stefan Diggs. Ah, they brought in Diggs and Nico Collins. [00:44:45] Speaker A: Yeah, but Diggs is going to see a lot of double teams, so. [00:44:49] Speaker B: I just. I'm just telling you, I wouldn't take Tank though, out of those two. [00:44:53] Speaker A: You take Jackson Smith and Jig. But first, he's the two. [00:44:56] Speaker B: Yeah. Tank Dell is not even there. He is. He's their number three receiver and he's a buckeye. Yeah. [00:45:06] Speaker A: Oh, it keeps. Every time we turn it off, it turns back on again. [00:45:10] Speaker B: Why does that lady sound so sexual? You're on deck. I don't count on her stand. [00:45:16] Speaker C: You're on dick. [00:45:16] Speaker B: It sounds like she's saying you're on dick. Are you paying attention to our podcast or are you in a fantasy film league? I can't do anything with this guy. I don't understand why he's even on the show. Bone, would you like to be the new co host? [00:45:30] Speaker A: Jamar Chase. Look, this is. They. Look, here's the thing, Jamar Chase, you're not going to cut. Jamar Chase is one of the best, let's say just for argument's like three receivers in the league ish, probably, yeah. You're not going to move on from him. So with two years left on his deal, you either say we pay him this year and we can get a discount going forward because whoever is going to get paid next year is going to reset the wide receiver market again or you can wait until he has another bomb ass year this year, and the receiver market gets a reset next year and end up still making him the highest paid receiver in the league. I say those are your choices. I say bite the bullet now and just take the hometown discount. But I guess I'm not writing the checks there. So maybe their cash poor in Cincinnati. Everything else that Cincinnati is poor. [00:46:13] Speaker B: Do they need an Andrew Barry? [00:46:15] Speaker A: They need. [00:46:15] Speaker B: He knows how to play with the. [00:46:16] Speaker A: Funny money, needs something. [00:46:18] Speaker B: I don't know, I just. The longer this drags on, it can only be good for the Browns. [00:46:21] Speaker A: Maybe the governor of Kentucky can give him a loan. [00:46:23] Speaker C: I was just thinking, like, the people of Kentucky could pitch. [00:46:25] Speaker B: Yeah, absolutely. Because we all know Cincinnati is Kentucky. Then next up here, Baltimore. Still huge concerns on the offensive line. They just. It's kind of the same story as, like, the Browns are having right now, except we have a lot better players that are not healthy, so they're in even worse position than we are. And then on top of that, they only kept two quarterbacks. I kind of alluded to it earlier, but are, were they banking on us releasing Huntley? [00:46:54] Speaker A: They were like, they might be. [00:46:55] Speaker B: They were like, well, we'll just keep two because we're going to get. We're going to get Tyler Huntley back. So it is what it is. And then finally in Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh kept eight defensive linemen in a three four scheme. That seems like an odd move. It's a lot of defensive linemen to keep in a three four scheme. [00:47:13] Speaker C: I don't know. [00:47:16] Speaker B: Yeah, I don't know. I just think that, like, that's enough. That's a lot, but that's enough out of you. They did name Russell Wilson the starter. [00:47:24] Speaker C: Oh, yeah. That's what I'm talking about. [00:47:25] Speaker B: So I know Bones going to say Russell will tussle, but I still think Justin Field starts by week four. [00:47:32] Speaker C: Nonsense. [00:47:33] Speaker B: That's my opinion. [00:47:34] Speaker A: Nonsense. [00:47:35] Speaker B: Because Russell Wilson is washed and he will continue to be washed. Russell Wilson is ass. [00:47:40] Speaker C: I just don't want it to happen. But, man, he's going to have a re emerging career in Pittsburgh. It's going to be terrible for us. [00:47:46] Speaker B: Bonnie, you got problems. Their offensive line also continues to struggle. [00:47:52] Speaker A: What I just drafted to kick her in the 7th round. [00:47:55] Speaker B: What's wrong with me? [00:47:56] Speaker A: So mad. [00:47:59] Speaker B: And then. So for the, for, why do you keep derailing the show? [00:48:04] Speaker A: Sorry, that's my last pick for a. [00:48:05] Speaker B: Minute for the Steelers. Let's just quickly go through this one more time. They kept eight defensive linemen on three four scheme. Russell Wilson is the starter. Justin Fields is the backup. The offensive line continues to struggle in the wide receiver room. Is mess suck. So everything in Pittsburgh sucks. There's a dumpster fire over there. [00:48:23] Speaker A: Dumpster fire. And they'll still be everything in Pittsburgh. [00:48:26] Speaker C: Sucks except Russell Wilson. [00:48:30] Speaker B: Bone Russell. Russell Tussle. Yeah. [00:48:33] Speaker A: Yeah. Look, I don't know how long the wrestle thing is going to last in Pittsburgh, right? It's. My guess is Justin Fields is a starter by mid season. [00:48:42] Speaker B: That's what I said. Week four, though. That's. That's my guess. But anyways, that'll do it for the AFC north. Let's go ahead and get into the hot three. Hop three? Yeah, the hot three. So this again. Just, just. I'll stop explaining it probably after this week, but this is a new segment this year where we pick a category and we all have to give our hot three or top three in that category. From there, you guys can tell us who's right, who's wrong, what we missed, all that good stuff. Just comment on social media when I post it. This week, though. Rogers, with college football starting, I thought we'd stick to that theme. So we'll do the top college football games of all time. [00:49:27] Speaker A: Don't get married on college football day. [00:49:28] Speaker B: No, no. People get mad about it. I'll go ahead and start this week. So number three for me, and remember, this is three two one being the hottest, the hottest of the hot three. The hottest three for me is the game of the century. That was the game in 2006. Unbeaten number one, Ohio State. Eleven and o versus unbeaten number two. That team up north, eleven and oh, at the shoe. They moved the game later because of all the hype surrounding the game. It's one of the only times the game was not played at noon. One of the most, it's. It was. To this day, it's one of the most watched regular season games of all times. Ohio State went up early, team up north didn't go away. Stormed back in the fourth quarter, almost tied it up. Tried to score a touchdown late. Tried to do an onside kick to get back into it, but Buckeyes ended up winning 42 39. Complete shootout. Absolute wild to watch over 900 yards of total offense in this game. So it's pretty. It's just. It was just nuts. Do you guys remember this game? [00:50:26] Speaker A: Michigan sucks. [00:50:27] Speaker C: Oh, yeah. [00:50:27] Speaker B: Oh, yeah. We were in one of our friends basements watching. I know bone was there. I think you were there, too. Yeah. So let's see. And that was 2006. Yeah, we were late high school there. Yeah. Nice number two for me. Ohio State versus the University of Miami in the 2003 Fiesta bowl. That was the national championship game. The Buckeyes were not given a chance in hell to win this game. Like it was. This was the year that the U was the U. Like, they were the U at this point. Willis McGahee got his knee blown out in the first quarter. [00:51:00] Speaker A: Returning national champions. [00:51:01] Speaker B: Yeah. And that kind of turned the tide. When Willis McGahey got his knee broken. [00:51:06] Speaker A: That was the first significant injury I'd ever seen on tv, probably where his. [00:51:12] Speaker B: Knee just went completely backwards. You're like, whoa. And they showed it over and over again. I have a Sports Illustrated from the following month just highlighting the national championship game, and there's just a still shot of his knee completely backwards. I was like, those were the days when we just showed everybody the injuries. [00:51:28] Speaker A: Yeah. We weren't alive when thyseman's got busted off. This was probably. This was our generation's thighs. [00:51:34] Speaker B: Like, oh, yeah, yeah. But, well, before Alex Smith, but, yeah, well, that was like, the Alex Smith. [00:51:41] Speaker A: Thing is still weird, though, because it happened to the date on the anniversary of the thing. [00:51:45] Speaker B: So I think there was, like, the same spot in the field, like, all that stuff. Yeah, but, yeah. Anyways, the play by Maurice Claret to hawk down and strip the ball out of Sean Taylor's hand after Craig Krenzel threw an interception in the end zone. To this day, I tell everybody, that's the single greatest football play I've ever seen in my entire life. [00:52:05] Speaker A: It was insane, hands down. [00:52:07] Speaker B: Insane. Like, it completely saved the game for the Buckeyes. And the Buckeyes ended up winning this game 31 24 in double time. [00:52:16] Speaker C: That play was absolutely insane. [00:52:18] Speaker B: It was just so stupid. And it was Sean Taylor. Like, it wasn't a nobody. It was Sean Taylor. [00:52:23] Speaker A: Well, that's what I was just gonna say. Was, like, thinking about Jonathan Vilma, Jeremy shocky. Like that. I mean, Ken Dorsey, who's our coordinator now, right. I mean, like, they're. That team was stacked. [00:52:37] Speaker B: He's gonna watch Kellen Winslow. [00:52:38] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:52:38] Speaker B: He's gonna watch our show this week and be like, sons of bitches. [00:52:42] Speaker A: I mean, the guys that were on. [00:52:44] Speaker C: Still talking about it, the guys that. [00:52:47] Speaker B: Were on that team just stacked, and we beat them in double overtime. [00:52:51] Speaker A: Craig. Craig Krenzel just haunts their memories forever. [00:52:56] Speaker B: And then number one for me is Texas versus USC, the 2006 Rose ball, which was also a national championship game. [00:53:02] Speaker A: I was also gonna say, like, it wasn't like the Ohio state team was bad team. I mean, they had no they were. They were very underrated, like, I think freshman or sophomore season, like. [00:53:10] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:53:11] Speaker A: Was that Mike Vance was a wide receiver then? I think, like, they had. They had some real talent there, too. [00:53:16] Speaker B: Yeah. I mean, they were very good, but they just, like I said, coming into this game, like, that whole season, nobody gave anybody a chance against. Against. So. And then number one, Texas versus USC, the 2006 Rose bowl, which was a national championship game as well. USC came into this game being hyped as the greatest college football team of all time. QB and running back that year, which was Matt Leinart and Reggie Bush, both Heisman finalists. Reggie Bush ended up winning it, but Vince Young all along thought he deserved it. [00:53:48] Speaker A: Didn't line out, win it the year before. [00:53:50] Speaker B: Yeah, I think he did, but Vince Young thought he deserved it that year. So he came into this game with a chip on his shoulder, and he proceeded to rush for 200 yards and throw for 260 67 and score a touchdown as late in the game to put him up 4138. And that was the final score. [00:54:07] Speaker A: Yeah, I know that all these guys we just talked about kind of had up and down NFL careers, but, like, in the pantheon of college athletes, they're. [00:54:16] Speaker B: Like, the greatest, some of the greatest college football. [00:54:18] Speaker A: Reggie Bush, especially, like, two of the greatest to ever play college football. And Matt Leinart was no slouch. I mean, he was good, too. I mean, backed up for a while in the NFL, but. But those two at the college level, just spectacular. [00:54:33] Speaker B: Yeah. And so those are my hot three. I have a couple honorable mentions, but I'll wait until you guys are done just to. I don't want to steal your thunder if I'm thunder. Yeah, you're thunder. I'm Thor. I don't want to steal your thunder if any of you guys have those, so I'll wait to. To go over those. So, bone, what do you got for your hot three? [00:54:49] Speaker C: All right, so my. My three and two are the same as yours, so. [00:54:52] Speaker B: Well, we are Ohio State fans, right? [00:54:55] Speaker C: I don't watch a lot of other cultural. Both sides. Ohio State. So all mine are high state, so just touching. Back at the 2002 national, or, sorry, the game of the century. 2006. Number one, Ohio State. Number two, Michigan. Some of the players. Iowa State players on that team. Troy Smith, Brian Wabiski, Ted Ginn, junior, Marcus Freeman, Malcolm Jenkins, Kurt Coleman, Anthony Gonzalez, Brian Hartline, James Larianitis, Vernon Goulston, Alex Boone, Chris Beaney, Wells. Like, the dudes that were on that team. [00:55:21] Speaker B: Listen, I know they lost the national championship that year, like, 41 to 14 to Florida. And I know a lot of people think I'm insane when I say this, but they would have won the national championship. But Ted getting in and get hurt on the opening kickoff, returning it after he. After selling, he returned for a touchdown, and his whole team jumped on him and broke his ankle. But it completely changed the game because that duo of Ted Ginn junior and Anthony Gonzalez, like, if you basically teams, they didn't know who they were supposed to cover. And after Ted Ginn went down, they were able to double team Anthony Gonzalez the rest of the game, and it made it tougher for them to get everybody open. But anyways, I digress. Gone. [00:55:57] Speaker C: No, that's great. So then, number two, the Fiesta Bowl 2002 national championship. Just a few other players. We touched on a few. Mike Doss, Mike Dustin Fox. [00:56:09] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:56:10] Speaker C: Craig Krenzel. You've already said Chris Gamble, Michael Jenkins. Michael Jenkins, Greens Claret, and Santonia Holmes on that team as well. [00:56:15] Speaker B: Antonio Holmes. He's one of my favorite receivers of all time. [00:56:18] Speaker C: Just some of the big studs on the team at that time. [00:56:20] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:56:20] Speaker C: And I was looking at the roster like, troy Smith was a freshman on that roster, which I thought was. I didn't even think about that, you know, but just some other guys who kind of emerged later on. And then my number one game isn't even. Kenny, you're so. [00:56:36] Speaker B: I hate you. What's your number one? [00:56:39] Speaker C: All right, so number one is the first year of the College Football playoff where we played Alabama in the first round. And we just freaking whooped on him, just humped him like it was like a thrashing. The score doesn't necessarily show that, but we handled Alabama. When Alabama was coming in with all the hype, we were the underdogs, and Cardell Jones just lit them up. [00:56:57] Speaker B: Cardell Jones lit them up. Ezekiel Elliott, I think, ran for, like, 230 yards or something. Stupid. [00:57:01] Speaker C: That game was just a blast. It was so much fun. Kenny's making picks still. [00:57:07] Speaker B: Yeah. No, that game was fun, and we. [00:57:10] Speaker C: Went on to win the national championship. But I feel like the game versus Alabama, that was the first round, was the national championship. [00:57:15] Speaker B: Yeah. Because we ended up playing Oregon, who we. I don't even think that was a game. I think we beat them pretty handily. Yeah. [00:57:20] Speaker C: It was a butt whooping. [00:57:21] Speaker B: Yeah. So I like it. I like it. Kenny, what do you got? Are you too busy drafting you? Can't. [00:57:27] Speaker A: I just went back to back. [00:57:27] Speaker B: Would you like to join the show? [00:57:28] Speaker A: I'm back on the show. [00:57:29] Speaker B: Are you back on Burning river? [00:57:30] Speaker A: Sportscast back at the burning river. Sportscast where facts for days. [00:57:35] Speaker B: No. [00:57:36] Speaker A: Oh, it's hot three. Hot three. Look, I think you guys all, we've all said the same games here. Or maybe you didn't. Let's see, number three, I have app State Michigan in 2007. [00:57:50] Speaker B: Nobody said that one yet. [00:57:52] Speaker A: 34 32. Just the fact that Michigan lost to just appalachian states like Ohio State, like Akron or Kent, like it's just an embarrassment for just the team up north. [00:58:04] Speaker B: It was so stupid. They were up and they decide like all they had to do is like absolutely in the game and they decided to try and kick it to go up by six instead of by three. And then it got returned for a touchdown. [00:58:14] Speaker A: Everything about it just embodied the trash is Michigan. [00:58:17] Speaker C: It's fantastic. [00:58:18] Speaker B: I don't know if those numbers are quite right that they have much they won by, but either way, like, they didn't have to kick it. [00:58:24] Speaker A: Just absolute trash. So love that. Number two, Texas USC. We kind of went through that whole thing. But again, you know, USC had won 34 straight games. Best team in the country. I mean, just, just what an incredible game came down to the wire. Best some of the best athletes we've ever seen in college football. And then number one for me, how state Fiesta Bowl 2003 against the Miami Hurricanes. So we'll litigate that. But certainly my favorite college board game of all time. [00:58:56] Speaker B: Yeah. For all you, you fans that say it wasn't pass interference in the end zone. [00:59:01] Speaker A: Oh, it definitely was. [00:59:01] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:59:02] Speaker C: Was it officially trip triple over time? [00:59:03] Speaker B: It was pass interference, double overtime. Yeah. All right, well, that'll do it for the hot three. Ohio State heavy. We may or may not be fans. One, one honorable mention that was not that neither of you guys chose. And that's kick 620 1378 Iron bowl when Alabama again, as they have been for as long as I can remember, came in and all the hype, talk about them being the best team in the country. And auburnous, what is happening right now. And Auburn, as time expired, Alabama was kicking a field goal and they fielded the field goal because it was short and ran it back 109 yards for a touchdown to win the game. [00:59:54] Speaker A: Yeah, that was pretty good. [00:59:56] Speaker B: Yeah. So that was fantastic. But yeah, that'll do it for the hot three. Let's go ahead and take a quick revenue break, then we'll get here and talk more. Browns topath distillery top at distillery an award winning craft distillery located in Akron, Ohio. All right, before we get into the season preview here, I do want to talk about an event that we have coming up, and that is the New Orleans trip as the dog pound takes over. New Orleans. [01:00:52] Speaker A: Hell yes. [01:00:53] Speaker B: We'll be going with true fan travel. And basically, if you don't know what true fan travel does, they put together a travel package. Packages to make away games. Home games for us is basically what they do, right? [01:01:05] Speaker A: That's right. So, inclusive. [01:01:07] Speaker B: All inclusive travel packages to away games. A bunch of events that are exclusive for your team's fans. They're an official partner of the Cleveland Browns. Official travel partner of the Cleveland Browns. Is that what it is? Official fan experience, partner of the Cleveland Browns. But this event includes optional round trip private charterhouse flight, three night stay at Renaissance New OrlEans, pair marquette French Quarter, a welcome party that's an all inclusive cruise down the Mississippi river with the dog pound, a Q and a with Kevin Mac, a pep rally the day before, all inclusive tailgate the day of, and tickets to the game at the Superdome, not to mention on site trip coordinators to handle any questions or issues that may arise along the way. So this is going to be lit. We're pumped because we've never been in New Orleans. We're so excited for New Orleans. Kenny bone, tell him how excited you are. [01:01:57] Speaker A: Cannot wait for this trip. It's gonna be an absolute blast. Obviously, true fan is taking care of everything for us, so we just get to enjoy the ride. And by enjoy the ride, I literally mean a boat ride down the Mississippi with the dog pound. It's gonna be a hell of a time. Hell of a tailgate. We can't wait to go. I mean, I wish that it was earlier in the season, but this actually will be good cause it'll be like almost thanksgiving for us. So the weather will start to be getting cold and shitty, and we'll get a chance to go somewhere a little bit warmer. [01:02:26] Speaker B: Yeah. [01:02:26] Speaker A: Fun. [01:02:27] Speaker B: Yeah. That's why I'm excited. [01:02:28] Speaker A: Yeah. [01:02:29] Speaker B: I mean, there's a lot of things I'm excited about this trip, but that's. [01:02:31] Speaker A: One of the beignets, too. [01:02:33] Speaker C: Aside from, yeah, getting to go to the superdome, which is gonna be badass Super Bowls. We get to explore the city a little bit. Yeah. Trip down the Mississippi River. I mean, this trip's gonna be awesome. [01:02:43] Speaker B: It's gonna be dope. [01:02:43] Speaker A: Honestly. I gotta start prepping. Like, we're gonna find like some restaurants and stuff. Like, we gotta start figuring this out. Like, what are we gonna do in our spare time? Because they're sure there's a ton fun to see. [01:02:51] Speaker B: Oh, yeah. [01:02:51] Speaker A: And if we're trying to figure it. [01:02:52] Speaker B: Out while we're travel, we're gonna be traveling crowds. [01:02:54] Speaker A: Yeah. I mean, I'm getting so many beads. [01:02:59] Speaker B: You probably would, too. What are those, double ds? But anyways, true fan has trips to Las Vegas, DC and Denver along with the New Orleans trip this year. So I know the Las Vegas trip is a big one for them. That's their kickoff of the true fan travel experience. It's, it's coming up here very soon. What is that? Week three? We play schedule game here in a minute. Let me look. [01:03:28] Speaker A: Three. [01:03:29] Speaker B: No, it's not week three. It's week four. It's week four. Week four, they'll be going to Las Vegas. That's another one. Check that out. Buy tickets to that. Buy tickets to New Orleans. We suggest New Orleans because we'll be there. But Las Vegas is going to be super cool. Cool. [01:03:40] Speaker A: I know they're attempting to do things with, like, the bounce backers groups out in those towns, too. So, I mean, this tailgate could be absolutely massive. [01:03:48] Speaker B: Yeah. Gonna be a lot of fun. So check all that stuff out. Show notes is where you'll find the link to all of those trips. All right, let's go ahead and get into it. The season preview and predictions. All right, so we saved a this the schedule game. We're going to play it now. Everybody likes to play the schedule game. When the schedule first comes out, you pick all the winners, losers. But to us, that's kind of pointless. Nothing's happened yet. You don't know what's going on. It's fun to do at the time, but we didn't want to, so we saved it for now. We're going to play a schedule game. Now that the preseason's done, rosters are somewhat set. Obviously there's still movement to be had, but they're somewhat set. We're going to go through and pick all the games this year for the Cleveland Browns. So the way this is going to go, I'm going to announce a game. I'm going to go to you, Kenny. [01:04:46] Speaker A: Are you picking a score or just wins loss? [01:04:48] Speaker B: Just wins losses. I'm going to. I'm going to announce the game. Go to you, Kenny. Going to go to me? Going to go to bone. We're going right down the line. You guys ready? [01:04:57] Speaker A: Round the horn we go. [01:04:58] Speaker B: Bone, you ready? [01:04:59] Speaker C: I'm ready. [01:05:00] Speaker B: All right, so September 8, week one versus Dallas. Kenny, who you got? [01:05:07] Speaker A: Look outside. Outside of Dak Prescott and cd lamb. I don't think this Dallas team is very good. So I'm going to win in week one. [01:05:13] Speaker B: Nice. Starting the season. [01:05:14] Speaker A: Win in mid prime time. [01:05:16] Speaker B: Nice. I also have the Browns winning this one opening day, a lot of hype in front of their home crowd. It's probably going to be a beautiful day. It's September 8 in Ohio. I like the Browns in this one, bone. [01:05:30] Speaker C: I also like the Browns. I expect our defense to show up and just put on a. Put on a clinic. [01:05:36] Speaker B: Nice. Next up here, week two, jackson at Jacksonville on September 15. Kenny, who you got? [01:05:43] Speaker A: I think this is a tougher game than people are going to anticipate. I think it's going to be hot in jacksonville. I think Trevor Lawrence and Doug Peterson, in another year together, his team's going to be a really good team in the AFC south. I think this may be your first loss of the season here, jacksonville. [01:06:01] Speaker B: All right. I got the Browns going down to Florida and absolutely humping the Jacksonville Jaguars. I've got a different take than you do. I think the Jacksonville Jaguars are like that team that they've always been like. Occasionally they have a okay year and all sudden there's a little bit of hype around them. I think they're going to completely regress. I think it's going to be, they're going to be under 500 this year. [01:06:20] Speaker A: See, I think we caught up to them. Last year was injuries. And I think that this team in week two is going to be healthy and they just have a lot of playmakers. [01:06:26] Speaker B: It will be healthy. [01:06:27] Speaker A: That's a going to be hot. [01:06:28] Speaker B: That's fair. But I think the Browns win this one. I got them starting the season two and. Oh, bone, what do you got? [01:06:33] Speaker C: I will also do a loss. Nice away game off the big, big win off Dallas. Maybe lose sight a little bit and lose to the Jaguars. [01:06:43] Speaker B: Okay, so you guys both have one on one at this point. Week three versus, this is at home versus New York. Kenny, who do you got? [01:06:53] Speaker A: This team is still ass. And they traded their best player. So New York, that's a big win for the Brownies there. [01:07:00] Speaker B: All right, you guys might be surprised by this. I actually have New York coming in and winning. I think. I think Aaron Rogers. [01:07:09] Speaker A: What offense? [01:07:10] Speaker B: I don't know, but I think Aaron Rodgers finds some magic early in the season. [01:07:14] Speaker A: Aaron Rogers doesn't play for the Giants, man. [01:07:16] Speaker B: Oh, it's the Giants. It's the Giants. This is bad start. This is what happens to me. The Giants, they ask. This changes everything. Yeah. [01:07:27] Speaker A: Are you high? [01:07:28] Speaker B: I read the letter wrong. The NY. I read a j instead of a g. I'm dyslexic. Don't make fun of me. [01:07:35] Speaker A: Danny Dimes and no running backs. [01:07:37] Speaker B: Oh, no, they're not winning. I got the Browns. I got the Browns. We're starting 30. We're good. [01:07:43] Speaker C: Nice. I like the sound of that. [01:07:45] Speaker B: Bone, who do you got? [01:07:47] Speaker C: Browns. Browns. Wayne. [01:07:49] Speaker B: All right, so we got the Browns for bone. Let's see. Week four at Las Vegas. Kenny, who you got? [01:07:57] Speaker A: Yeah. Unfortunately for our friends at true fan travel, I think this is going to be one of those games that the Browns should win. Gardner Minshews out there slinging it around, but I think this Las Vegas team is going to be much improved this year. I think this is probably a heartbreaker on the road here loss. [01:08:16] Speaker B: So. Okay. And I've got. I had the Browns until something you just said actually kind of, kind of jarred my memory here on Browns and west coast road trips and how terrible, absolutely God awful they are when they go to the west coast. So the fact that they're traveling out there, I've got Las Vegas winning this one as well. [01:08:38] Speaker A: They don't like the flight out there. [01:08:40] Speaker B: Yeah. Brown's dropping a three and one for me. Bone, who you got? [01:08:44] Speaker C: I'm going to go with Brown's win. Brown's win on the road. [01:08:48] Speaker B: Nice. Week five at Washington. Kenny, who you got at Washington? [01:08:57] Speaker A: What the freak's that guy's name? The coach out there don't have a lot of faith in him. Starting rookie quarterback. I think the Browns get a dub here on the road in Washington. [01:09:08] Speaker B: Nice. I have the Browns as well. All the same things that you just said. Washington's is not very good. They're not going to be very good. [01:09:16] Speaker A: Coaches name is the Atlanta Falcons. [01:09:18] Speaker C: Arthur Smith. [01:09:19] Speaker B: It's not him. [01:09:21] Speaker A: No, but it's a generic name like that. What's his name? [01:09:25] Speaker B: Generic stadium three. But yeah. So I have the Browns as well. So, Bone, who do you got? [01:09:32] Speaker C: Browns win. [01:09:34] Speaker B: All right. And week six at go to bone first. [01:09:41] Speaker A: I'm up. I'm on the clock. [01:09:42] Speaker B: Oh, God. You're stupid fantasy football draft. Are you serious? [01:09:45] Speaker C: Dan Quinn is the coach of the game. [01:09:47] Speaker A: Yeah, he sucks. [01:09:53] Speaker C: Did you say I'm up first? [01:09:54] Speaker B: Yeah, go ahead. Boom. [01:09:56] Speaker C: Philadelphia. At Philadelphia. Hard place to play. Philly's still really good. I'm going to go. Philly wins, browns lose. [01:10:03] Speaker B: All right. I have Philadelphia winning that game as well. That's a tough place to play. Philadelphia is a pretty good team. So I have Philly taking that one as well. Kenny, who you got? [01:10:13] Speaker A: Terry, Judy. [01:10:15] Speaker B: So you just picked Brown. That's good. [01:10:19] Speaker A: Yeah. It's late rounds. [01:10:21] Speaker B: Browns at Philly. [01:10:22] Speaker A: Browns and Philly. Look, Philly was an absolute dumpster fire in the second half of last season. That said, they're returning a ton of talent. This is a high powered offense. You're on the road. I think this is a tough game for the Browns. I think a lot else. [01:10:40] Speaker B: All right. And versus Cincinnati. So at home versus Cincinnati in week seven. Kenny, who you got? [01:10:48] Speaker A: Cincinnati is trash. They're in Kentucky. And Browns win here, especially at home. [01:10:55] Speaker B: All right. And I've got, I got the Browns winning this one easily as well. Cincinnati, they struggle with us anyways. It's going to be at home. It's going to be, be, let's see, October 20, right around Halloween time. It's just, it's all good things for the Browns. [01:11:11] Speaker A: Cincinnati says had a hard time beating this iteration of the Browns. [01:11:15] Speaker B: Cincinnati sucks. [01:11:16] Speaker A: Yeah. They suck in there. In Kentucky. [01:11:18] Speaker B: Yeah. Bone, who you got? [01:11:20] Speaker C: Same, same thing. Browns win. Yeah. Cincinnati struggles against the Browns. Even in Super bowl year. I felt like Browns outplayed them. [01:11:28] Speaker A: Yeah. [01:11:29] Speaker B: And then next up, another division game at home versus Baltimore. [01:11:34] Speaker A: This one pains me to say, for whatever reason, we struggle playing Baltimore at home. I think that continues into this year, unfortunately. And that's a loss for the Browns. [01:11:44] Speaker B: Loss for the Browns. I've got Baltimore winning this one as well. I think that you are correct. I think. I don't know why. It's same, same way that Cincinnati struggles against the Browns. [01:11:56] Speaker A: Weird. [01:11:56] Speaker B: We struggle against Baltimore. So I got Baltimore winning this one. Bone, who you got? [01:12:02] Speaker C: You guys kind of talked me into it. I want to say when, I want to see the Browns be 20 in the division right off the rip, but it's just they always have our number one way or another, they end up winning the game or Lamar has some late game heroics and we lose. [01:12:15] Speaker B: Yeah. The following week, week nine versus Los Angeles. That's a home game versus Los Angeles. Kenny, who you got? [01:12:26] Speaker A: Look, Harbaugh out in Los Angeles. I think this is a different team. This year. I think it's a home game though, right? This team has underperformed and underachieved for years under a really good quarterback in Justin Herbert. I think Harbaugh fixes Justin Herbert this year. I think it's a tough team to beat. The Browns lose this game? [01:12:47] Speaker B: Who? I don't know if anybody's keeping track at the, at the bye week. Kenny's got us under 500 and so I have the Browns beating the Chargers. I don't have the same level of confidence in hardball that you do. I like the Browns in this one, especially because it's home. We're not traveling to the west coast, we're playing them here. [01:13:05] Speaker A: Well, if Conor Stallions has anything to say about it, he'll make sure they have all the signs. [01:13:11] Speaker B: Bone, who you got? [01:13:13] Speaker C: Browns. When? I think our defense is going to be really good this year. I think they'll have a hard time. I don't. Who are the receivers out there they don't have? [01:13:21] Speaker A: Is it Mike Williams? [01:13:22] Speaker C: I think he's gone. I think Mike Williams and Keenan out there. [01:13:25] Speaker B: Yeah, they're both gone. [01:13:26] Speaker A: And Deckler is gone. [01:13:28] Speaker C: Quentin, their rookie last year, I forget his name, but he was supposed to be good, but I don't think he ever did anything well that might have. [01:13:35] Speaker A: Been part of the problem was the receivers were holding them back. [01:13:37] Speaker B: You don't want to be a part of the problem. Their wide receivers are Josh Palmer, lad McDonald McConkie and DJ Shark junior. [01:13:46] Speaker A: Lad McConkey is going to destroy teams. That is, that is a real dude. [01:13:52] Speaker B: He's a laddie, but yeah. So that'll, that's that guy. [01:13:56] Speaker A: Let me say he's going to be one of the stories of the NFL this year. [01:13:59] Speaker C: Is he rookie? [01:14:00] Speaker A: Yeah. [01:14:00] Speaker B: Okay, so at the bye week, which comes in week ten, a great time for a bye week in the NFL. [01:14:06] Speaker A: It actually is. [01:14:07] Speaker B: Yeah. [01:14:08] Speaker A: Yeah. [01:14:08] Speaker B: Week ten is perfect. So I'm excited about that. But Kenny has the Browns at four and five and bone and I both have them at six and three. So Kenny is down on the Browns this year. We'll start the second half of the season here. This is the game. This is where we'll be at the game at New Orleans. What do you guys have here? [01:14:28] Speaker A: There's no way the Browns lose a game that we're at. [01:14:31] Speaker B: That's true. [01:14:32] Speaker A: Big win in the big easy. [01:14:34] Speaker B: Yeah, it's because it's going to be the big easy. [01:14:38] Speaker A: I have hear all the women are big and easy too. [01:14:44] Speaker B: Kenny, just cause you're big and easy doesn't mean all the women are big and easy. He thought that was the best joke of all time. [01:14:51] Speaker C: You can't stop laughing. I mean if you're listening to this, he is like convulsing in laughter. [01:14:56] Speaker B: That's terrible. It's his joke. He's laughing at his own joke. Bone, who do you have winning this one? [01:15:01] Speaker C: Oh yeah. We can't lose a game. We're at Browns are. Browns are winning this. [01:15:05] Speaker B: I like that. Next week. Week twelve home game versus Pittsburgh in prime time on a Thursday night on prime video actually. So Kenny, who do you got? [01:15:17] Speaker A: Pittsburgh stocks. Browns win at this point. I mean this point they are embroiled in quarterback controversy and this team is just appointed no return. [01:15:28] Speaker B: I actually have Pittsburgh taking this one just because the Browns don't always do too hot and prime time and it's division game. Weird things happen in division games. I'm going to go Pittsburgh. Bone, who do you got? [01:15:42] Speaker C: All right, guys, you're forgetting one thing. [01:15:44] Speaker B: What? [01:15:44] Speaker C: Chubb is going to be back. First game back against picks. I mean this isn't his first game back hopefully in the year, but first game against Pittsburgh. The team that wrecked his knee. [01:15:53] Speaker A: Yeah. [01:15:54] Speaker C: And people are going to be freaking home against Pittsburgh. Prime time Batman is back. [01:16:00] Speaker B: You guys, you guys swung me, you guys did it to me. [01:16:04] Speaker A: Convincing. [01:16:05] Speaker B: You guys were absolutely convincing. Your argument. I am a fickle, fickle fan and I am going to go Browns winning this one as well. So I take it back. I take back what I said and Browns win the following week once again in prime time, but on a Monday night, this time at Denver. Kenny, who you got? [01:16:24] Speaker A: Yeah, look, Denver is another one of those teams that we seem to struggle with. I think it's maybe the travel, the altitude, another prime time game back to back on the primetime games. They're kind of goofy just with the schedule. I mean we get the extra rest days, I guess the mini buy from Thursday to Monday. But what I'm hearing on Denver is Bonix could be the real deal. So I think this could be another one of those games where they better. [01:16:50] Speaker B: Enjoy it while they can because he's almost 30. [01:16:53] Speaker A: I think this is another one of those games where you're going to go in feeling like you should win and you escape narrowly with the loss. [01:17:00] Speaker B: Yeah. So a lot of the arguments that you just said, I initially had this as the Browns but I actually just flipped my pick for the same reason that I flipped the lost Las Vegas pick earlier. [01:17:10] Speaker A: Can't play out west. [01:17:11] Speaker B: They can't play out west. And I don't, like, people don't understand, like, this is like a thing, like, they haven't won a game out west since, like, 2006, like some stupid streak. I don't know the exact number, but. [01:17:22] Speaker A: It'S, and it's tricky because not only is it a long plane, right. Ride out there, you're also a mile in the air. [01:17:27] Speaker B: Yeah. [01:17:28] Speaker A: So everything is working against you and your body clock. [01:17:31] Speaker B: Yeah. [01:17:31] Speaker A: Not to mention it's going to be, I mean, what time is it going to be in, in Denver? 2 hours, like 06:00 there. So, like, just a weird time to play a football game. [01:17:40] Speaker B: Yeah. Bowen, who you got in this one? [01:17:42] Speaker C: I think Denver's going to win. I think it's been one of those games where we're going to come in on Monday and be like, why were they so flat? They're just, nobody was going to be. [01:17:49] Speaker B: Excited to watch them in primetime or be like, that was like, the defense. [01:17:52] Speaker C: Kept them in the game. The offense did nothing. Nothing or I don't know, whatever. [01:17:55] Speaker B: Browns loss, that sucks. Unfortunately, we all got the Browns losing to Denver. That sucks. They can't. Denver also is just like, ever since the drive and the, all the bad things that happened, I hate Denver. We struggle against Denver, especially in Denver. [01:18:11] Speaker A: I mean, I remember even, like, going back to, like, Baker's rookie season when he was on fire, like, when they went to Denver and like, that was laid an egg. Baker all of a sudden was bad. [01:18:19] Speaker B: Yeah. Next up here, week 14 at Pittsburgh. Kenny, who you got? [01:18:25] Speaker A: The Browns. Give him the old double chub. Pittsburgh goes down. Big Browns win big. [01:18:30] Speaker B: Browns win big Brown. [01:18:32] Speaker A: Big brown. Double jump. [01:18:34] Speaker B: I also have the Browns winning this one. I had them initially splitting this season with the Steelers, but bone swung me, and I think they humped the Steelers this year. And Chubb is on a revenge tour specifically against Pittsburgh. So I think I'm going to go. Bold prediction. Between the two games against Pittsburgh, he's going to rush for 278 yards. [01:18:54] Speaker A: Not even bold. I think 400. I was about to be so hard. [01:18:58] Speaker B: 365 yards. [01:19:00] Speaker A: Jeez. [01:19:01] Speaker B: But anyways, grow up, Peter Pan. Bone, who you got in this one? [01:19:05] Speaker C: Oh, Brown's win. Yeah, we got two. And against Pittsburgh this year, it's happening. [01:19:09] Speaker A: What did you. Was it two? He's going to run for 130 in each game. Nick Chubbs can do it this sleep against Pittsburgh. [01:19:14] Speaker B: He's coming off of a major injury, Mandy. [01:19:16] Speaker A: Not then he's. [01:19:17] Speaker B: And we're going to rush the ball. We're going to rush the ball 15 times. [01:19:19] Speaker A: A game he'll play for like six weeks before that. He's going to be hot and fresh, hot and ready. [01:19:23] Speaker B: Like a fresh, hot and fresh out the oven. All right. At home versus Kansas City. Week 15. Kenny, we got. [01:19:35] Speaker A: Yeah, look, we can't see going to the Super bowl, so we lose. [01:19:41] Speaker B: I actually. This is where. This is where, like, stuff starting to hit almost a fever pitch. Like the Browns are playing well throughout the season. Kansas City comes into town. Everybody thinks Kansas City is going to be the best. They're probably going to have a really good record at this time. I have the Browns beating them at home to go to ten and four at this point in the season. And everybody's starting to talk about the Browns winning the Super bowl and not the Kansas City Chiefs. [01:20:05] Speaker A: I like it. [01:20:06] Speaker B: So I got the Browns winning bone. Who you got now? [01:20:08] Speaker C: I'm excited. [01:20:08] Speaker A: I live in reality, but I like it. [01:20:10] Speaker C: Oh, you're going to cup. Here's what's going to happen, is be like, oh, it's cold. It's December. City's coming into play. And I'm like, well, I feel like they play in colder weather than we do, and they always win those games. I mean, it's only December 15, so it's normally even not that cold, but I think Kansas City's gonna beat us. Just petty Mahomes, man. He's just. [01:20:28] Speaker B: I couldn't swing bone. [01:20:30] Speaker C: I hate that guy. [01:20:31] Speaker B: Yeah, everybody hates him, but loves him. Cause he's so fun to watch, but I hate him. [01:20:35] Speaker A: Who's the guy that you're sexually attracted to? [01:20:37] Speaker B: Nobody. [01:20:41] Speaker C: What was that? [01:20:42] Speaker B: Nobody? [01:20:43] Speaker C: It was a Browns player, right? [01:20:44] Speaker A: It's a DTR. [01:20:46] Speaker B: Don't know who you're talking about. [01:20:47] Speaker A: He's a good looking guy. [01:20:50] Speaker B: Next up, week 19 at Cincinnati. [01:20:52] Speaker A: Week 19. [01:20:54] Speaker B: Week 19. Why did it. [01:20:55] Speaker C: It's December 19. [01:20:56] Speaker A: What? [01:20:57] Speaker B: Week 16. You guys got me all flustered, telling me I'm attracted to DT. [01:21:01] Speaker A: There aren't even 19 weeks. Week 19, the by week. [01:21:09] Speaker B: Oh, my God, it's these. I spray painted the windows before we started. I'm running on fumes, literally. Week 16, another primetime game. We got another. Our second Thursday night game of the year, which is so stupid. It's only happened like two other times in history, but on prime video at Cincinnati. Kenny, who you got? [01:21:30] Speaker A: The Browns go orange on orange in Cincinnati. When they go white on white, big browns win. [01:21:36] Speaker B: Wait, browns go white on white while Cincinnati goes orange. [01:21:38] Speaker A: No, the Browns are going orange on orange. They're going to make it orange for this game. [01:21:41] Speaker B: They're just going to make it for this one. [01:21:42] Speaker A: Yeah. We're going to orange out Cincinnati. Cincinnati back at him. We're gonna out orange them. [01:21:47] Speaker B: I've got Agent Orange. We're not going to out orange them because we don't have an orange jersey. [01:21:53] Speaker A: But we're gonna Agent Orange Cincinnati. [01:21:57] Speaker B: This clip cannot be aired but I have the Browns winning eleven to four bone. Who you got? Not eleven to four. That is you. [01:22:09] Speaker A: Loves dtrh so fast. He's just picturing shower after the. [01:22:17] Speaker B: Oh, my gosh. [01:22:18] Speaker A: Oh, man. I hate looking quarterback right there. [01:22:22] Speaker B: Think I've been this flustered on this show ever. [01:22:24] Speaker A: That is a good looking quarterback. [01:22:25] Speaker B: I got the Browns winning and going to eleven and four bone. What do you got in this game? I hate you guys. [01:22:31] Speaker C: Brown's brown sweep Cincinnati on the season. What are we? We're three and one in the division right now. Forward one. [01:22:38] Speaker B: That's pretty good. [01:22:39] Speaker C: Something like that. That. Fantastic, though. [01:22:41] Speaker B: Fantastic. And then we've got week 17 at home versus Miami. [01:22:47] Speaker A: Kenny, who you got week 19 versus Miami at home? This Miami team is pretty good. If hot to is still on both feet at this point in the season, I think Miami probably beats us in this game. [01:23:00] Speaker B: Oh, wow. Unfortunately, I think you're dead wrong because if you don't, if you don't remember last year, they had a big game towards the end of the season against Kansas City in Kansas City. I think it's a playoff game actually. [01:23:13] Speaker C: I think they were too cold and. [01:23:14] Speaker B: They were too cold. Miami is terrible. [01:23:16] Speaker A: Do you remember the week before that? They were in Buffalo. There was like 10ft of snow and it was too cold for the people to go to the game and they won that one. [01:23:25] Speaker B: I don't care. [01:23:26] Speaker C: Revision is history. [01:23:28] Speaker B: Yeah, exactly. But on your part. [01:23:33] Speaker A: Dolphins actually, like, if you look at their record, history historically play really well in the cold weather. [01:23:36] Speaker B: Well, I don't think they're going to play well in this cold weather. And I got the Browns winning bone. Who you got? [01:23:48] Speaker C: The Browns. The Browns are going to win. [01:23:50] Speaker B: He's got no good. [01:23:53] Speaker C: They're still good and they're going to. They're going to win. [01:23:56] Speaker B: All right. And then the final week of the season, week 18 at Baltimore. I'm sure this, if we're in any sort of playoff hunt, this is going to be flex to a prime time game. But right now it's TBD. Kenny, who you got? [01:24:09] Speaker A: TBD. Can't get side. Can't tell you right now. I'll tell you. No, look, I don't even know what my record prediction is at right now, but I think this game probably comes down to who wins ASC north. And I think the Browns eke out their first division crown in 30 some odd years. [01:24:27] Speaker B: Not at the record that you just gave them. I have Baltimore winning this one and just a down note to end the season, but I don't think it matters. I think we still win the division, but I think we lose this final game. Bone, who you got? [01:24:46] Speaker C: I'm going to go with Brown's win. Big year in the division. I think I only have him losing one time. So they split the season with Baltimore, but we win this one. [01:24:54] Speaker B: Nice. And so with that with, with Kenny, somehow I just want to say he has the Browns winning the division at nine and eight. [01:25:01] Speaker A: It's going to be a tough, tough, tight division. [01:25:05] Speaker B: I have the Browns going, but it's tight. I have the Browns going twelve and five in winning the division. Browns win the division at nine and eight. I didn't see that coming. [01:25:15] Speaker A: You talk about the toughest division in football. [01:25:17] Speaker B: Yeah, but I don't think somebody with nine and eight record is going to win still bone. [01:25:22] Speaker A: You don't have to think it. Your final record, but I live in reality. [01:25:25] Speaker B: Your final record prediction for the Browns is twelve and five. Do you also think that they will win the division? Wow. [01:25:31] Speaker C: We're five and one in the division. Yeah, that sound right. So many games we play. [01:25:37] Speaker B: Here's the bottom line. All of burning river sports. Guest thinks the Browns are going to win the division. Kenny somehow thinks they're going to do it at nine and eight. But the bottom line is they're going to win the division. So I'm pretty excited about this is going to be a good year. I like it. I like it a lot. [01:25:52] Speaker A: Imagine we get to week 19 and all the teams are tied at eight and eight and it's just for all the marbles. The Browns versus ravens. [01:25:58] Speaker C: That would be exciting. [01:25:59] Speaker B: That's gonna be wild. That's gonna be wild. [01:26:01] Speaker C: DTR starts. [01:26:02] Speaker A: DTR starts. Ronnie's just hard the whole time. [01:26:08] Speaker B: I'm not in love with GTR. I don't know what's happening. But with that, let's go ahead and we're gonna bring in a friend of the show, our defensive correspondent. And just an all around good guy, former Browns defensive tackle, John Hughes. [01:26:23] Speaker A: Red of the show powered by Riverside FM. [01:26:37] Speaker B: All right, everybody, this next guest of ours needs no introduction, but I'm going to give him one anyways. Friend of the show, our new and official defensive correspondent, please welcome, John Hughes. How you doing today? [01:26:54] Speaker D: Doing pretty good, Mike. Complain. How we doing? [01:26:57] Speaker B: Good. Good. So, obviously, you know, this is our season preview episode, and so we're talking about the upcoming season for the Browns. It's kind of as a whole, and so I guess where I want to start this with you and what we want to talk about first is the initial 53 man roster was released. Obviously, changes to come, things like that. But what are your, what are your initial thoughts for that 53 man roster? There any big surprises to you? [01:27:25] Speaker D: I wouldn't say any huge surprises. I guess I was kind of a little surprised on how they did with the quarterbacks and running backs as far as how many guys they kept in the room. I think I saw something come out about Huntley, but I was thinking they were going to go a couple of guys shorter in that quarterback room and trying to build that running back room. Just thinking of the return of Chubb and having guys, and I think they only had two guys in the room from what I saw. But, yeah, other than that, man, I think it's pretty much what I, what I was thinking, man, kind of going into the year. [01:27:57] Speaker B: Yeah. And that's fair. I think the only big surprise we had was Dante Foreman being cut, but I think we already talked about it earlier in the show. It sounds like he's gonna be back. [01:28:08] Speaker A: So, John, what about, I know you're old Cincinnati bearcat. I don't know if you have any kind of relationship with, with Joanne, but that was maybe a small surprise since he was a draft pick. Have you been in touch with him at all or do you have any thoughts on. Sounds like you might end up in a practice squad? [01:28:25] Speaker D: Yeah, I haven't talked to him since everything came out, but I talked to him before training camp started, was surprised but not surprised that he's still in the building as far as being on practice squad, and really that's just kind of how teams do when they know, especially the draft pick, and they know they'll need them at some point. Just getting him, keeping him in the building and keep him on practice squad. So, yeah, everything is looking bright for him, you know, keep him going towards the future. [01:28:50] Speaker A: The guy sounds like a beast. I mean, 39 reps on the bench at the comma, right? [01:28:55] Speaker B: Strong. [01:28:56] Speaker A: Not a bad guy to have in the building. [01:28:57] Speaker B: Strong. All right, so switching gears here a little bit, what are you looking forward to the most with the Cleveland Browns this year, man? [01:29:05] Speaker D: So for me, I'm looking to see how we play in the big games. You know what I mean, because I think in Cleveland's like, we're, and a big thing is we don't usually get the hype coming into the season, right. So now that we have a little bit more steam, you know, rolling going into the season, I just like to see how we handle it as a team in those tight games, those big games that come, you know, and we don't know what games they are yet, obviously, throughout the season. But as those games come up, that mean they're a bit more important, man, seeing how we, you know, attack and approach those games, you know, we just. [01:29:41] Speaker B: We just played schedule game a little bit ago where we went through and picked everybody, you know, all the games throughout the season. I actually gave them a couple losses specifically because they were in prime time. [01:29:50] Speaker A: So they definitely have some marquee matchups on that roster. I mean, you get Kansas City late in the year, Miami late in the year. I mean, plus all your division games are against good teams. I mean, at this point, everybody in the division is tough. So. [01:30:01] Speaker D: Yeah, and we talk about prime time games, too, as far as just your rhythm, your routine getting thrown off. Say you're playing a Thursday night game, right? You're used to getting that, you know, ample amount of rest or whatever, you know, your routines a little bit different getting Sunday to Sunday. Right. So getting to those primetime games, it kind of throws it off a little bit. So that's just an adjustment that, you know, all players have figure out. So. [01:30:25] Speaker B: Yeah, and so with that, I mean, we, we have two Thursday night games. So do you have any feelings on that? That's, it's one of the quirks of our schedule this year. It's only like the third time it's ever happened. What do you think about the Browns having two Thursday night games? [01:30:39] Speaker D: Me personally, I enjoyed Thursday night games. I think when, when during the season they're played, too, because, like we were talking about earlier, depending on how the season's going, those big games, you know, it's fun playing prime time and the games mean something. Right? Like the last thing guys want to tune into at the end of the season is a Thursday game that nobody's really, you know, competing for a playoff spot or whatever. So the, the more exciting that game is, the bigger it's going to be. And I think, you know, that that's what everybody wants to see. [01:31:08] Speaker A: Yeah. I think the one other weird quirk in that schedule is late in the season where we have the Thursday night matchup and then you have the following Monday night in Denver. So you're taking. It's like the. Almost like the mini buy from Thursday night, but then you're going on the road to play at Mile High. Seems like that might be a difficult stretch for him. [01:31:26] Speaker D: Yeah. So, yeah, that. That trip to Mile High would be a little bit of an adjustment. I remember when we would go out to Denver and play and just the altitude change, going out there a couple of days before trying to get used to it. It's. It's really something you have to. You have to take into factor when you're. When you're going into playing a game in Denver. [01:31:44] Speaker A: So when we were even just talking about, like, just with the time change. Right. Like, because it's a prime time game, you figure that game's going off at 830 or so eastern time. You're right. At like 630. It's like just a. It's an odd time to play a football game. Like, if you're used to playing at 01:00 on Sundays or even the primetime games, all of a sudden you're playing at dinner time. [01:32:04] Speaker D: Yeah, yeah, definitely. I mean, and it's crazy because I realized the more, like, the. Throughout my career, like, you know, college, we would prep a little bit different for, you know, different time games like that. And in the league, like, I mean, the sense to what we would do to get ready for. For, like, a different time game, even as far as, like, getting our bodies used to shutting down at a certain time. You know what I mean? Like the blue light right in your phone. Like, we would go through all these little steps just to make sure we were ready for the game. So. Yeah, this is amazing how much stuff we actually do to get ready for those. [01:32:38] Speaker B: Absolutely. And so with that, I mean, one of the big things and one of the reasons why the Browns were so competitive this past season was because of that defense being the number one defense in football. Do you think that the Browns defense continues to dominate this year? You think Jim Schwartz continues to keep them on that track? [01:32:58] Speaker D: Yeah, yeah, most definitely. I think we pick up where we left off for bringing back 21 out of 26 key pieces we had last year. I think for us, it's. It's all about bringing it on defense. And then, you know, obviously having our offense do what they do. But the games are one. I learned this, you know, starting little league. Right. You know, championships are one on the defensive side of the ball, man. So we get it running and keep going on defense, man, we'll be solid. [01:33:25] Speaker A: Yes. [01:33:26] Speaker B: And with that defense being so dominant, how do you think we stack up in the AFC north, which is going to be just like it is every year. It's going to be hard nose, smash mouth football. [01:33:37] Speaker A: I mean, when there's just talent everywhere. You got Burrow in Cincinnati, you've got Russell Wilson. You know, obviously some, some revitalization there in Pittsburgh where they didn't have an answer at quarterback and then Derek Henry moving to Baltimore. I mean, all three of those are just going to be gauntlets. [01:33:51] Speaker B: Yeah. [01:33:52] Speaker D: I mean, yeah, you hit it on the head. Right. But I feel like with our defense, we have, we have an answer to all these different things. Right. Like, we have an answer to the run game in Baltimore. We have an answer to the past game in sensei and whatever they're doing in Pittsburgh. Right. But I think whatever, whatever, you know, is on the table. I think our defense, our team overall, but especially our defense, can handle any, any elements coming. [01:34:20] Speaker B: Yeah. That's fair. No, and it's funny you mentioned Pittsburgh and whatever they're doing in Pittsburgh. And early on in the offseason, we were like, dang, Pittsburgh is really, they made a lot of moves. They brought in a lot of guys on defense. But then it seems like all of a sudden in preseason, like, everything's falling apart for Pittsburgh already. And they do have Mike, Mike Tomlin. So we, we expect them to be right around 500 at least. [01:34:42] Speaker A: It takes time for guys to master. But I think that defense is going be tougher than people think. [01:34:46] Speaker B: Yeah. So what. Yeah. What are your thoughts on Pittsburgh as a whole? [01:34:50] Speaker D: As much as I hate Pittsburgh, I feel like you can never count him out because of Tomlin. Right. Because of the work that he's been able, you know, his, his, you know, his level, his body of work that he's put in in Pittsburgh. But, yeah, it's not looking too good from right now, but they, they usually find something to figure out throughout the year, so we'll just see how it goes. [01:35:07] Speaker B: And you don't even have to look that far. You look to last season like their, their team wasn't that great, but somehow they ended up winning, what, they went ten games last year. [01:35:15] Speaker A: So, yeah, I mean, the thing that we. And we recently had just talked about Pittsburgh, like, just the remarkable stability that's there when you think about just from the head coaching position, you had Tomlin Cower and then before that, chuck knoll for, like, ever. So it's like they've had three coaches in 60 years. I mean, it's, it's something else over there. [01:35:36] Speaker B: Three coaches, three. Three quarterbacks up until after office. Like, it's. [01:35:42] Speaker D: People that, when we talk about the difference, right. In programs between Cleveland and, you know, Pittsburgh, right. When I was in Cleveland, literally had five head coaches in four years or four head coaches in five years, right. So when you have a lot of turnover, you have to keep learning new defenses, learning new schemes. Right. You can never really get comfortable. And when you take a team like Pittsburgh that has the same defense forever, right, they. They're able to learn the shortcuts within the scheme so that not, they're not learning X's and O's anymore, but they're learning around the x's and O's and how to make that position better, not. [01:36:15] Speaker B: Just learning, you know, John, we don't. We don't like to talk about those times anymore. We're in a much better place. [01:36:20] Speaker A: The good news is that for the first time in a long time, the Browns have stability at the. [01:36:23] Speaker B: That's what I mean. We don't like to talk about that stability. [01:36:28] Speaker D: He's on the other foot now. You know what I mean? I love what they've been able to build and create in Cleveland, man. I'm just waiting to see it all stack up together. [01:36:39] Speaker B: Exactly. Yeah. So with, you know, we talked about the defense and how they're going to dominate again. We talked about the AFC north, and we think we can. We can stack up well against those teams because of the defense. So what, I mean, do you have an overall record prediction for the Browns this year? [01:36:56] Speaker D: Figured you guys were going to ask that. So I feel like with what we have been, you know, going in, you know, staying healthy, I would see us at like twelve and 513 and four. [01:37:15] Speaker B: Whoa, 13. [01:37:17] Speaker A: I like that we had a hard time going through the schedules. We were kind of prepping our show, and almost like you're looking for losses, because if you start looking at it, it's really easy to just go, man, they should win this, they should win this, they should win that. And, I mean, twelve and 513 and four doesn't seem like that much of a stretch, honestly. [01:37:35] Speaker D: And I forgot who it was that made the prediction, you know, as a Cleveland fan. And they did, like, every single game, winter. [01:37:42] Speaker B: The Miz. [01:37:42] Speaker A: The Miz. [01:37:43] Speaker B: The Miz. He had him going undefeated. [01:37:45] Speaker D: That was awesome, man. And that speaks volumes of what the definition of a Cleveland fan, right? The hope and the feeling of a Cleveland fan. But just thinking about it in the. In the grand scheme, I feel like there might be some closer games that we have to figure out, and that's the only reason I said four to five. Right. But really I think as far as the division goes, if we're able to capture the division, win the division, that's the easiest way into the play playoffs. Right. I think that'd be our best bet. [01:38:17] Speaker B: Yeah, absolutely. And we just, like I mentioned a few minutes ago, we just played the schedule game and you, you actually have the, pretty much the same prediction as bone and I. We both picked them at twelve and five. So you have twelve and 513 and four. We'll just turn yours into 13 and four because I like that. But Kenny, you know he's over here saying we're looking for losses, we're looking for losses. He picked them to go nine and eight. [01:38:39] Speaker A: Just so, you know, conservative, you know, like I just don't want to, I don't want to get overexcited. Every time I get overhyped on this I end up getting bit. You know, I just want, I'd rather be pleasantly surprised if they win ten, 1112 games. [01:38:53] Speaker B: When I said the record he chose, our defensive correspondent said whoa, don't you. [01:38:58] Speaker D: Want to be that guy at the end of the season after we go 1304 that said, told you so. You know what I mean? [01:39:05] Speaker A: I would love to be that guy, John, but 20 years of bad experience tells me I'm not that guy. [01:39:11] Speaker B: He's, he decided not to be that guy so that you could be that guy. [01:39:16] Speaker D: There it is. There it is, man. It's getting tougher and suffer. [01:39:21] Speaker B: But no, with that, I mean you just mentioned a couple of the questions I had next year. So you said easiest way into the playoffs is winning the division. Do the Browns win the division and do they make the playoffs at 13 and four? Absolutely they make playoffs, but do they win the division and how far are they going to in the playoffs? [01:39:39] Speaker D: So yeah, I believe we're going to win the division. As far as the playoffs. I mean it's really hard to tell, man. I mean it's just about where we're at as a team going into the playoffs. Right. Because we've all seen those, those playoff teams that sneak in and then got teams that are rolling in December. Right. We want to be that team that's rolling in December. Just knocking off wins. Like you know, in December you're not losing games. Right. You're really getting primed, the playoffs. So I really depends on how we look at the end of November. Going into December is how far we go. [01:40:15] Speaker B: Okay. Yeah, I like that you said division title. Funny enough, we all picked the Browns to finally win a division title, including Kenny at nine and eight. He thinks they're going to win the division at nine and eight. [01:40:26] Speaker A: Is going to be tight, man. It's a tight race in the north. [01:40:30] Speaker D: That's a rough season. Out of the, out of the division at nine. [01:40:34] Speaker B: That's what I said. I said at nine and eight we're winning the division. That math ain't mathematic, but he thinks it is. [01:40:40] Speaker A: So I think it's going to happen. [01:40:43] Speaker B: So last thing here, John, real quick. Do you have any bold predictions for, for the Browns this season? [01:40:52] Speaker D: Bold predictions. All right. So if we're, if we're going off of the record, right, saying 13 and four, I feel like we're only going to bold prediction. I feel like we only lose one, one division game. [01:41:06] Speaker B: Whoa. [01:41:09] Speaker D: And split one. [01:41:12] Speaker B: I like it. That's like it. That is. But who's, what's the one we're going to lose? [01:41:17] Speaker D: What do you think, man? Well, I would say, I would say between, I would say Baltimore. Baltimore or sensei. Yeah. It's hard to give that other team a win, man. It's hard to give him one. [01:41:33] Speaker B: Yeah. No, I agree. We, we actually were just talking about this, how for some reason, just like we seem to lately have Cincinnati's number, Baltimore seems to have Cleveland's number. Even when Cleveland's good, even when Baltimore seems like they're having a, you know, not so great a year or whatever, Baltimore, for some reason, always seems to play the Browns tough and typically come up with a win. [01:41:56] Speaker D: Yeah. [01:41:57] Speaker A: John, let me, let me ask you this. It seems like if you're listening to the national media, pundits, people are really, really high on the Cincinnati team. I know Joe Burrows coming back and supposed to be healthy, but they've got twelve rookies on that roster. I mean, that's almost a quarter of the roster. Like, are you buying the hype on Cincinnati in this division? [01:42:17] Speaker D: No. And the funny thing is, man, I have to hear the hype from at home with my wife all the time, man. She's a Bengals fan. But honestly, I don't, I'm not just because I feel like we've heard this type before, right. It's all about what's going to happen and what's played out during the season, man, and really who stays healthy and who's playing the best ball. And that's what you have to love about this game, right? You can have every single piece. You know, everyone can say you're the this and that, right? But until you strap the pads on a line up, man, and figure it out. Nothing's really, nothing's really set. [01:42:54] Speaker A: That's fair. What about, before we jump off here, what about the headwinds? Let's talk about what do you think maybe is the biggest challenge for the Browns this year? I mean, I think on paper we feel really good about this team, but, you know, is there, is there a singular concern or concerns that you have going into this year? Maybe what you would be at Deshawn's shoulder and the health there? I mean, obviously, Nick Chubb's going to miss a few weeks, or is there anything in particular that stands out to you that may just be, like, a lingering issue for this team? [01:43:25] Speaker D: I wouldn't say a lingering issue. I feel like, like staying healthy is just the name of the game for every team. It's kind of been our, been our deal for the past couple years, but staying healthy and then, you know, with, with all the, what they, what they call the circus show coming in, as far as the HBO hard knocks coming in, I'm hoping guys just keep the focus on, you know, on the season and what's important and not get a caught up in the and all that. So, yeah, between those two, as much. [01:43:59] Speaker B: As we're nervous about the hard knocks thing, we're also super excited for it. I mean, it's a really cool idea to see it happening, like, middle of the season, what's going on, kind of the challenges each team is facing and who's stepping up in the locker room to really kind of right the ship and make sure everything's going in the right direction personally. [01:44:17] Speaker A: It's going to be a great content. [01:44:18] Speaker B: That's right. Yeah. [01:44:22] Speaker D: Pretty cool. It's like the first time we get to see, like, a live look as far as a whole division throughout, you know, that end of the season time, man. So I think that's a pretty cool perspective. I I just hope we all take it with the, you know, for what it is, man. So. [01:44:34] Speaker B: Absolutely. And so, real quick, one last question for you, John. It looks like you're in a barbershop. Tell us a little bit about where you're at right now. [01:44:44] Speaker D: Yeah, man. So I'm actually at one of my barbershop shops called King Culture Barber Studio. We started this shop. Me and my business partner five years ago were able to do so well in one of our locations that we opened up our second one. And really, we cater to all textures of hair, right? Straight, Curly, whatever it is. [01:45:02] Speaker B: Awesome. [01:45:03] Speaker A: You guys should have took me there to get my head shaved. [01:45:05] Speaker B: We should have. It's a little bit further away. [01:45:06] Speaker A: Longer drive. [01:45:07] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah, yeah. [01:45:11] Speaker A: John, I think actually since the last time we talked, this is the first time you're seeing our new studio. What do you, what do you think of our new digs? [01:45:17] Speaker D: I'm loving it, man. It's looking, it's looking really nice. Oh, yeah. [01:45:21] Speaker B: We're trying. We're doing what we can. We're trying. [01:45:23] Speaker A: We're trying to keep up with the Joneses, you know? [01:45:24] Speaker D: Yeah, yeah. [01:45:27] Speaker B: Absolutely. Well, hey, John, we really appreciate your time. All of our listeners, you're going to be hearing a lot more of John Hughes. As I said at the top of this interview, he is our official defensive correspondent. We're going to have him on as often as he's willing to be on this year to talk about the defense, talk about the rest of the team and just keep us informed because, you know, he's a guy that's done it. He's been there, done that, and he knows exactly what's going on in the NFL. So, John, thank you so much. Tell your wife the Bengals suck. [01:45:56] Speaker A: Oh, happy birthday to misses Hughes. [01:45:58] Speaker D: Oh, yeah. [01:45:59] Speaker B: Oh, happy birthday, too. [01:46:01] Speaker D: As far as the segment, guys, man, I'm excited to get on, man, talk a lot of Brown's defense, man. And hopefully have a lot of good stuff to talk about, man. So awesome. [01:46:10] Speaker B: Thank you. [01:46:11] Speaker A: Thanks so much, John. [01:46:12] Speaker D: All right, man. You guys take it easy. [01:46:18] Speaker A: Powered by Riverside FM. [01:46:26] Speaker B: Man. Always good having John on the show. And I'm excited to announce that he is officially a part of the Burning river sportscaster. Part of the Burning river sportscast. He is a defensive correspondent for us. Look, is that his official, official title? [01:46:41] Speaker A: Yeah, he's the official defensive correspondent. Defensive expert of the burning river sportscast. Defensive mastermind. [01:46:48] Speaker B: Defensive correspondent. That's ok. But yeah. Good having John on his. [01:46:54] Speaker A: We love John. We love John. [01:46:55] Speaker B: We love John. We love John. [01:46:57] Speaker A: We love John. No one's in sync, but we still love. [01:46:59] Speaker B: We love John. But with that, let's go ahead. Do you guys, I think we should do some bold predictions for the season for the Brown just to wrap this up. [01:47:07] Speaker A: Wrap up our season prediction. [01:47:09] Speaker B: Yeah. [01:47:09] Speaker A: Three big bold ideas. [01:47:10] Speaker B: Let's do it. This year's Cleveland Brown's bold predictions. All right, guys, now these are things that most people would think we are insane when we say them, or at least, you know, a little off the wall when we make these predictions for the Cleveland Browns here, probably number one for Kent is going to be that the Browns win the division at nine and eight. But, but we'll start with. I'm going to start with bone. Bone. What are your, what are your bold predictions this year? And let's start with three being the least bold of your bold predictions. [01:47:51] Speaker C: Okay. [01:47:52] Speaker A: Yeah. [01:47:53] Speaker C: It's not that bold. The Browns defense give me number one. Number one in the NFL. [01:47:57] Speaker B: All right. I like that. [01:47:58] Speaker C: In every major statistical category. [01:48:00] Speaker B: Every major statistical category. [01:48:02] Speaker A: Love it. [01:48:02] Speaker B: I love it. And I don't think that's, I do think it's a bold prediction because it's hard to repeat as the number one defense in the NFL every year. But Jim Schwartz, man, he's Jim shorts in the game. [01:48:13] Speaker C: Really good shorts. [01:48:14] Speaker B: Yeah. What's your, what's number two for you. [01:48:17] Speaker C: Jerry Judy will be a 1000 yard receiver. [01:48:19] Speaker B: Ooh, I like that. [01:48:21] Speaker A: That gets me excited. [01:48:23] Speaker B: I like that. [01:48:23] Speaker C: I got excited when I wrote it. [01:48:26] Speaker B: And what's your final bold prediction? [01:48:29] Speaker C: Yeah, I don't know. Are these that bold? I mean, are these that bold? I'm a fanboy. I just love the Browns. Chubb will be comeback player of the year. [01:48:39] Speaker B: Nice. I like that. I like that a lot. Okay, so let's see. You want to go next? You want me to go? [01:48:49] Speaker A: I'm almost on the clock. [01:48:51] Speaker B: I'll go next. So these minor, some of mine are pretty out there. Out of my three, specifically one, but we'll get to it. But number three here I have Nick Chubb finishes. You had comeback player of the year. I think he definitely wins that if this prediction comes true. I think Nick Chubb finishes as a top five running back yardage wise, despite missing potentially four or five or six games. [01:49:14] Speaker C: Hell yeah. [01:49:15] Speaker A: I like that. Say it again. [01:49:16] Speaker B: Nick Chubb finishes in the top five in rushing yards this year. [01:49:19] Speaker A: Nice. [01:49:20] Speaker B: So that's a bold prediction for me. Number two here, Miles Garrett repeats as defensive player of the year. I know that's a really hard thing to do, but I think Miles Garrett, best, best player on the best defense. I think he repeats his defense. Yeah. And then my final prediction, and this is the one where it gets, we're going off the, off the rails here. Kenny, you ready? [01:49:41] Speaker A: We're getting wiggity. [01:49:42] Speaker B: Yeah. Final bold prediction for Ronnie Jambs this year is Denzel Ward retired after sustaining his 6th concussion this year in week 19. And I hate to write that because as you can see, I have a Denzel Ward jersey on. I played DB when I played in college. I have a soft spot for dbs. I love Denzel Ward. He went to Ohio State for DBS. [01:50:07] Speaker A: Good looking quarterbacks. [01:50:08] Speaker B: I don't know why you keep getting. But anyways, he went to Ohio State. There's just. Denzel Ward's a great player for the Browns. He's, he's one of the better corners they've ever had. But I think, unfortunately, these concussions, they gotta catch up to you at some point. I mean, he just had his fifth one in the preseason. People are already talking retirement with him. Now he says no, but you have another one this season. [01:50:32] Speaker A: But his body is telling him yes. [01:50:35] Speaker B: I don't know. Yeah, I just. It's hard to say. You've had six concussions in what, like five years and. [01:50:40] Speaker A: Yeah, look, we joke, but he, I mean, his head is chilly inside. I mean, he's been beat to hell. And after six, I mean, it's not that crazy to think that at some point, like, you have to take stock of your life, your health and your family and your future. [01:50:57] Speaker B: Yeah. And I was gonna say, like, we. I think most people already think that, like, fives a lot. [01:51:01] Speaker A: Yeah. So, I mean, the fact that you're counting them. [01:51:03] Speaker B: Yeah. [01:51:04] Speaker A: And you have more than one, one hand, that's not good. [01:51:06] Speaker C: Yeah. [01:51:06] Speaker B: You get to six and you starting to really worry about the guys long term health. But that's it for me. That's. My top bold prediction is retirement of Denzel Ward. Kenny, what are your bold predictions? [01:51:18] Speaker A: Three big predictions here for 2024. 1st is Red hot Ronnie James takes DTR to the marble room on a date. And they have an excellent time together. And they both get the cheesecake updated. This one. [01:51:33] Speaker C: This is like real time comedic relief. [01:51:37] Speaker B: I don't like this. I can tell you that bold prediction is not coming. [01:51:47] Speaker A: Is this. I hate you get comfortable with our friend James Winston because you're going to see a lot of them maybe as early as week one. [01:51:55] Speaker B: You think Jameis Winston starts the season? [01:51:57] Speaker A: I think that there are like, I'm very concerned about DeShawn shoulder. And even if it's not week one, I just think that there's zero chance DeShawn play 17 games this season. I think we're going to see Jamis for a good stretch here. Wow. Number two, Nick Chupp, regardless of when he comes back, will rush for over 1000 yards. [01:52:19] Speaker C: Hell yes. [01:52:20] Speaker B: I like that. [01:52:22] Speaker A: And to top mine all off for 25, 2024, the top tight end in the league will be David Nduku. [01:52:31] Speaker B: Wow. [01:52:32] Speaker C: I like that. [01:52:33] Speaker B: Wow. [01:52:34] Speaker A: Lead all tight ends. [01:52:36] Speaker B: That is a bold prediction. [01:52:38] Speaker A: This is the year he becomes officially elite and he's a bold name. [01:52:41] Speaker B: Wow. I love that. I love it. I love it. I love it. And speaking of loving it, let's get gassed up. [01:52:48] Speaker A: Oh, boy. [01:52:54] Speaker B: I. Alright, so everybody, as everybody knows by now, gassed up is the segment where we like to vent about what's pissing us off or talk to you guys about what's getting us real excited. So I will start this week because it's something that every time it happens, it pisses me off more and more. And that's technology malfunctioning. And I'm talking like, you buy, like, a new computer, a new smartphone, a new, like, anything that's. [01:53:20] Speaker A: That. [01:53:20] Speaker B: That's just a modern piece of technology nowadays. We're very spoiled. I understand that, but things are just supposed to work, right? They have like, certain functions. They're supposed to. Well, I'm not allowed to talk because somebody's having a fantasy turned it off. [01:53:35] Speaker A: Before you started talking. [01:53:37] Speaker B: But yeah, so, so anything that you have that is supposed to perform technology malfunction. Yeah, yeah. Basic functions that you expect it to do every single time and then they start not working. Like, for example, like every once in a while, you know, your phone goes through that thing where it's like, you can't make outgoing calls. You got to completely restart it. It's like why? [01:53:55] Speaker A: My wife said to call me like three times on the way home in the last, like four days. Like, she's like, why aren't you receiving calls? Every time we first answer? She. She. We can't hear each other. [01:54:03] Speaker B: Yeah, so those types of things just piss me off. I mean, another one is like when your echo decides it can't hear anything you're saying ever. Like, the thing listens to me all day long, but apparently it can't hear what I'm trying to tell it right now. There's just a number of them just. It's stupid. Why do I have to restart my computer every day? Have you tried restarting? Yes, I have. Fuck you. Wow. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. Can you guys, I'm going to start getting really gassed up if I keep talking about technology because it just pisses me off. It just never works the way it should. It's always frustrating. [01:54:41] Speaker A: Fair enough. You want a piece of old action, Kenny? [01:54:45] Speaker B: What's getting you gassed up? Fucking technology. I hate it. Sorry. [01:54:51] Speaker A: I got gassed up yesterday. [01:54:53] Speaker B: About what? [01:54:56] Speaker A: And I just started going at it with an Internet troll. [01:55:01] Speaker B: On what? About what? [01:55:03] Speaker A: There was an article written about a gentleman who had showed a bit of golf, of course, and he wasn't dressed like a bum or anything, but he had like an abercrombie polo on. And the starter asked him if he had another shirt because they only allow shirts with golf logos on them. [01:55:27] Speaker B: What? [01:55:29] Speaker A: And this guy was like in the comment section, like, well, I'm a traditionalist and that's just how it should be. People should respect the etiquette and the rules of the game. None of this blaring music and blah, blah, blah. And I was like, you, sir, are the gatekeeper that is causing golf courses around us to close every year. You're the type of person who is keeping people away. And for anybody that doesn't know, ronnie and I got our start. Like, our first big board jobs was as golf professionals. So soft spot in my heart for golf. Absolutely. [01:56:06] Speaker B: And we were brought up the way we were brought up to be golf professionals. Like we. It was very much stressed, like the traditional manner. Like we had to. We're talking about a school that we went to that you missed three days, you were late three times and you were kicked out of the class. You had to be properly dressed at all times. [01:56:24] Speaker A: And in theory, it's like, I almost, like, I almost agree, like, I'm more of a traditional. I'm more on this guy's side in terms of like, yeah, but to me it's not like we should be exclusionary people who have either different dress or don't tuck their shirt in, or we should be inclusive of those. Of those things and we should try and help them and teach them etiquette and things so they know better the next time. But it shouldn't ever be, well, you can't golf here because. Or we don't want your money because it's. [01:56:50] Speaker B: Especially because it sounds like just the way you're telling the story, it sounds like it's probably some sort of public course. It's not like it was a fully private course where memberships are. [01:56:58] Speaker A: I did say it was. Was a private course, but I. But regardless, like, that type of just the absolute snooty traditionalist is. Is literally why golf courses all around us don't have any plan. Because people are afraid. It's an expensive game to get involved in. It's a difficult game to get involved in. [01:57:18] Speaker B: They are intimidating. [01:57:20] Speaker A: So when you show up somewhere and give them your money and they tell you they don't want it because you're shirt is wrong. Like that just to me is asinine. Like it's just bad business is the thing. And I'm like, I'm speaking it from this position of a person who actually has, like, one of the few people probably in a world that has a degree in golf. Golf complex management operations, and there's some yahoo on the Internet, like, he shouldn't have been allowed to play. I'm like, you're just an idiot. You one of the dumbest people that's ever opened your mouth on this planet earth. [01:57:51] Speaker B: Yeah, that's like the same thing as. I'll give a shout out here. That's like the same thing as the golf course in Cuyahoga Falls. When I was, you know, we were talking about giving our wives lessons, and they told us, you're not allowed to give any lessons on this, on this driving range no matter what. [01:58:04] Speaker A: Yeah. [01:58:05] Speaker B: Like, oh, you're gonna tell me I. [01:58:06] Speaker A: Can'T teach my wife trying to help people come into this game of golf and spend more money in your facility, and you don't want us to. [01:58:13] Speaker B: They had no idea that your golf course even existed until I brought them here. Right? Yeah. Yeah. [01:58:18] Speaker A: They were never gonna find this on their own. [01:58:19] Speaker B: Go punch yourself right in the face. [01:58:21] Speaker A: Yeah, I just. So I've had it with gatekeepers to golf because it's not good for the sport. It's not good for anybody. Like, we should be encouraging for a game that we all love. We should be encouraging as many people to get out and try it and get lessons and learn to play. And you learn some of those etiquette things along the way, and you can choose. You know, there's etiquette in terms of, like, should you dress nice and act a certain way? And then there's etiquette. Like, should you repair your ball marks and your divots? I would much rather a guy in an untucked shirt with his hat on backwards and his music playing, filling his divots and fixing his ball marks than worrying about tucking his damn shirt in. [01:58:57] Speaker B: Right. I agree. You can't, like, pick your battles, like, grow the game and bring people in that are going to treat it the. [01:59:05] Speaker A: Right way at a certain point. I just realized, like, this is just an Internet trolley because, like, he just kept coming. He was like, well, you just think the game, you're entitled. And I was like, look, like, wait, you. [01:59:15] Speaker B: I won't even go there. You think you're entitled? Like, yeah. [01:59:20] Speaker A: So I was just. I had to add it with him. He's. He's a lower thinking, lower being, probably from Susannah, Kentucky. Just not even. Absolutely not even fit to be a human. [01:59:32] Speaker B: Yeah. Bone anything getting you guessed up? [01:59:35] Speaker C: Honestly, he's probably one of these people I'm about to talk about. So, Bones. [01:59:41] Speaker B: Bones been gassed up these last two weeks. I like it. Yeah. What do you got for us? [01:59:45] Speaker C: Well, this one in particular happened to me today. So we have three stalls, restrooms in my workplace, okay? I work with all males, 20 going in a weird direction, but 25, 25 different males sharing three stalls, morning dumps, you know, whatever it's going to to be. And, I mean, you go in there and there's butthole hairs sprinkled on the rim of the toilet seat. You know, nobody in their right mind thinks to turn around and wipe the seat off after they're done. They're like, oh, I cleaned, I flushed. But what about all those little hairs you left sitting on the seat stamp? It is just annoying, you know, clean up. Clean up after yourself. [02:00:27] Speaker B: Yeah. [02:00:28] Speaker C: So that's really about it. But just your work. These are people, your coworkers, that have to use this toilet as well, so. [02:00:35] Speaker A: There'S no respect out there for anybody but themselves. [02:00:37] Speaker C: Yeah, we've literally found shit on, like, the side of the tank. Like, somebody put poop on their hand, like, missed the toilet paper and touched with the flusher, and then got poop on the side, right under it, and they just left it there. [02:00:52] Speaker B: That might be the most disgusting story I've ever heard. [02:00:54] Speaker A: Absolutely. [02:00:55] Speaker C: On this podcast. But it's just like, bones workplace is. [02:00:58] Speaker A: Full of people have clogged. [02:01:00] Speaker C: That remind you there's three of these. We work with 25 people. They've clogged the toilet, left it for somebody else to unclog it. That's like the most feminine thing I could ever think of. That a grown man would leave. [02:01:10] Speaker B: Sound of your pissed. It sounds feminine. [02:01:12] Speaker C: That would leave his clogged pool and not clean it while there was literally a plunger right in the same stall. [02:01:18] Speaker B: Wow, man, that guy's a coward. [02:01:21] Speaker A: I think you need to do work friends. [02:01:22] Speaker B: Coward. [02:01:24] Speaker C: Well, maybe they're not my friends anymore. [02:01:28] Speaker B: Bones turned up about this. He's so gassed up right now. [02:01:31] Speaker A: I mean, to be fair, it sounds like he works with quite a few immature. [02:01:34] Speaker B: This sounds like I would never. Adults. I'm not gonna lie, Bowen, I probably will never enter a restroom at your place of work, ever. If I'm ever there, it might just be one person. [02:01:42] Speaker C: That's the thing. [02:01:43] Speaker B: I won't go. [02:01:43] Speaker C: Just could be one person. Ruin it. [02:01:44] Speaker B: Well, you guys need to find out. And you need to fire him. [02:01:48] Speaker C: We've tried. [02:01:48] Speaker B: There's no place in life for that sort of behavior. [02:01:51] Speaker C: Festo. [02:01:52] Speaker B: That is insane. But I guess with that, let me remind you, call the hot take hotline. Don't forget to call and leave your hot take on the hot take outline. Remember, these are hot takes. We want. We want hot takes. [02:02:08] Speaker A: We want hot takes. [02:02:09] Speaker B: We want hot takes. 0227-8080-3027-8080-3302-2780-8033-02 operators are not standing by, but we'll play on the air and then we'll tell you what we think about it. Yeah, and be sure to check out our gear. Www.media.com backslash shop. And that'll do it for us. Kenny, what can we expect next week? [02:02:38] Speaker A: I'll tell you what we can expect next week. [02:02:40] Speaker B: You're gonna be doing another fantasy football draft. [02:02:42] Speaker A: No, thank heavens. But our good friend Ronnie James won't be here. Assholes. Taking occasion to kick off the season. Good work, idiot. [02:02:52] Speaker B: You're welcome. [02:02:53] Speaker A: Bone and I will be here. We'll be live. Well, not live, but, you know, we'll be alive. But we will do a proper week. One preview breakdown, the Dallas Cowboys coming to town. We will also get started with this year's Browns Backers series and, of course, cover any other browns news of breaks, which will probably be expecting more roster news as we get into the weekend and early next week. So we'll have it all here for you next week. [02:03:24] Speaker B: Check us out on social media. Tapping media is on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. [02:03:46] Speaker A: Facts for days. [02:04:04] Speaker C: Pretty sure I was yodeling. [02:04:08] Speaker B: What do you got for us? [02:04:09] Speaker A: Okay, facts for days. In the spirit of the start of college football, I went ahead and kept our theme alive for college football. Facts. [02:04:17] Speaker B: Keeping our theme alive. [02:04:19] Speaker A: This one, well, you know, one of these is really gonna break your heart. But this one, I thought was absolutely fascinating. [02:04:24] Speaker B: Let's hear it. [02:04:26] Speaker A: The year was 1905. [02:04:28] Speaker B: Good year. [02:04:30] Speaker A: Not really. [02:04:30] Speaker B: Not good year. [02:04:31] Speaker A: Bad year. In fact, in 19, oh, 518 football players were killed in college football. [02:04:37] Speaker B: Dang, that's not good. [02:04:39] Speaker A: Columbia suspended its team because of the deaths and even required the president, President Theodore Roosevelt, to get involved. The Chicago Tribune reportedly published a headline that year titled football year's death harvest. So public opinion was. [02:04:58] Speaker C: Sounds dark. [02:04:59] Speaker A: Was highly, you know, skeptical of the future of college football. Oh, dang. [02:05:05] Speaker C: What year is this? [02:05:05] Speaker A: 1905. And there were another 140 or so injured. [02:05:09] Speaker B: The dark days of college football. [02:05:11] Speaker A: Gravely injured. However, Teddy Roosevelt was a huge fan of american football. [02:05:19] Speaker B: Good choice, Teddy. [02:05:20] Speaker A: And when his son Teddy. [02:05:21] Speaker B: I got Teddy Roosevelt. Right. Is a question of one of your recent facts. For days. [02:05:24] Speaker A: Yes, you did. Yes. Because he owned hyena as a pet. So one of the things that happened too was the Harvard Yale annual game was canceled for a couple of years because. [02:05:38] Speaker B: Unacceptable. [02:05:39] Speaker A: It was dangerous. And when Teddy junior president Roosevelt's son joined the Harvard freshman team, began to receive his own injuries playing the sport that Roosevelt loved, he decided to call in representatives from top football schools to figure out how to make the game more suitable and less violent. So reportedly, as he was negotiating the end of the russo japanese war, he also led a team to change the rules of football. Things like making a first down ten yard instead of five. [02:06:15] Speaker B: So five yards. [02:06:16] Speaker A: The addition of what a wild game. Well, because at this point in football, there had never been a forward pass thrown. So they just. It was more like a rugby, right? You just scrum and beat each other to death. Actual combat as, I guess, what we fell in love with, you know, the addition of the forward pass, the teams can move the ball downfield without shoving each other as much as they used to and a new zone authorized between offense and defense. So anyway, these things did in fact help make the sport much safer. And while it wasn't totally safe, this did lead to significant decline in deaths and injuries. So who knew? The fact is 18 people died. 1905, and that's bad. Six. Nobody died because President Roosevelt stepped in and saved the game. [02:07:04] Speaker C: Football. [02:07:05] Speaker B: Teddy Roosevelt, man, he owned a hyena. He saved football. [02:07:08] Speaker A: He started the income tax. Well, he at least pitched the first income tax with a dick. He was a big regulator, man. He was a big, progressive, big government guy. [02:07:17] Speaker B: Taxation is theft, he added. [02:07:19] Speaker A: Like, he was like, I think he had the first version of the EPA and the FDA. Bunch of junk we don't need anyways. [02:07:29] Speaker B: Don't get Kenny Starlink. Government regulation number two. [02:07:35] Speaker A: Jokes. A typical Nebraska Cornhuskers football game attracts 85,000 people. Okay, nice crowd. Yeah, not bad making. [02:07:46] Speaker B: It's not a high stable. It's not bad. [02:07:47] Speaker A: The stadium, more populous than Nebraska's third largest city, Grand Marshall, which has population just under 50,000. [02:07:55] Speaker B: Not even just a little bit more bobby. Like. So much more populous. What are they inviting? The whole state? [02:08:01] Speaker A: Apparently. They all go every week. Yeah. [02:08:03] Speaker B: That's wild. [02:08:06] Speaker A: Absolutely. [02:08:08] Speaker B: What? [02:08:10] Speaker A: Nebraska is wild. [02:08:11] Speaker B: Man, you blew my mind. [02:08:13] Speaker A: And number three? [02:08:14] Speaker B: Number three is probably something bad about Ohio State. Go on. [02:08:18] Speaker A: Since 1879, culture ball has been being played. [02:08:23] Speaker B: Yes. [02:08:27] Speaker A: Which team has the most total wins? [02:08:29] Speaker B: Probably. Probably the team up north. [02:08:31] Speaker A: All of college football. [02:08:32] Speaker B: Probably that team up north, because they've been playing from the beginning. [02:08:35] Speaker A: Michigan is the number one team in college football wins in the history of the sport with 1004 wins. [02:08:44] Speaker B: Who's second? [02:08:45] Speaker A: Not Ohio State. Alabama at 965. Who's third? The Ohio State University. 964. [02:08:56] Speaker B: Oh. [02:08:58] Speaker A: So the unfortunate thing is that even if Ohio State were to continue to dominate Michigan for the next, like, three decades, they probably still aren't going to overtake them anytime soon. Because how many more games a year do you win than Michigan? Two. Three. [02:09:12] Speaker B: To be fair, I bet if you looked at the average wins per year, Ohio State's is probably either the same or better, because Michigan, they were one of the first college football teams. [02:09:23] Speaker A: That wasn't the stat that I brought for facts for days. It was most college ones of all time. [02:09:26] Speaker B: Wow. That's fair. [02:09:27] Speaker C: Just accept it. [02:09:28] Speaker A: Just accept it. [02:09:29] Speaker B: Listen, we don't give a damn for the whole state of Michigan. [02:09:32] Speaker A: We do not give a damn for the whole state of Michigan at all. No, but that was facts for days. [02:09:38] Speaker B: What do you think about that, Bone? [02:09:39] Speaker C: They're good facts. Uh, bon appetit. [02:09:46] Speaker A: Don't just be a part of the problem, b. The whole damn problem.
