The bye week seemed like a reasonable time to consider moving to Shador since you're playing a bad New York jets team with extra time to prepare. However, common sense seems to be in short supply in Berea. After all, that's a staple of the Kevin Stefanski playbook. Third and goal with inches to go. Perfect time for a reverse time. Running down on an opponent, scrambling to decide what to do before the end of the game. Why not spot them a timeout? Second chance at a Hail Mary on an untimed final down. Don't throw it to the end zone. Throw it 20 yards downfield to the sideline to ensure a loss. Yes, the psychology of Kevin Stefanski is an enigma. I keep fielding the question, what makes you so sure that Shador will be an improvement over Dylan Gabriel? And while I'm not sure that he is or isn't a franchise quarterback, what I am sure of is he can't be worse than Dylan Gabriel because Kevin likes Dylan Gabriel. At this point, simply doing the opposite of what Kevin Stefanski thinks is right is good enough for me. We'll break it all down for you next on the Burning River Sportscast. [00:02:16] Speaker C: Get with it. Get out of your ass. Get with it. Tired of waiting. Next year, get with it. [00:02:23] Speaker A: You want to see under Shador's head? [00:02:24] Speaker B: I do. I want to see under his hood. [00:02:26] Speaker A: Guys, thoughts here. [00:02:27] Speaker D: Wow. [00:02:30] Speaker A: We'Ve talked about this, Kenny, and I know it's all over social media. We're not the only ones talking about it now. I mean, we've been the only ones talking about it for like four years, but now everybody's talking about it. [00:02:38] Speaker B: We are the freaking New York Jets. We are built for this shit. And shit they are. [00:02:44] Speaker A: Thank you so much for joining us. How are you today? [00:02:47] Speaker E: Doing well, doing well. What are we, 2 and 6? [00:02:52] Speaker D: We need a little coconut to throw him the ball. [00:02:55] Speaker A: Always locked in. I was like, I just think he looks like a douche. [00:02:58] Speaker B: Like in in your playing experience, did you have a guy on your team go off for five sacks and you lose? And not just lose, you get blown out by 30. [00:03:08] Speaker F: Never happened to me and. And never happened to the defense I was on. [00:03:12] Speaker A: Is it. That's the longest one. [00:03:13] Speaker B: That's the longest. [00:03:14] Speaker D: That's pretty long time. [00:03:15] Speaker B: That's the longest one. [00:03:16] Speaker A: It was pretty long time. Why you say it like that? [00:03:25] Speaker B: Welcome in to the Burning River Sportscast presented by the fine folks at tap. I'm Kenny Thunder. My partner today is a recovering necrophiliac. Something about cold meat really revs his engines. These red hot Ronnie jams on the board today, he's. He prefers to make love to the living, but he does have a thing for lepers. He's the big bone man. Bone. Trying to help out our good friend Ronnie Jims here. The bible says to love the leper, but does it say anything about making love to lepers? [00:03:54] Speaker A: Is that allowed? [00:03:55] Speaker B: Like if a hand falls off, that would be unclean. If a hand falls off, you wouldn't want it to go to waste, right? [00:04:01] Speaker A: No, Wait, so you're saying do that, do that. [00:04:06] Speaker D: I'm confused. [00:04:07] Speaker B: I don't know what's wrong. [00:04:08] Speaker A: If not lepers, what about leopards? [00:04:10] Speaker B: You can make love to leopards. [00:04:12] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:04:13] Speaker B: Back to red hot. The trade deadline is upon us. So there's a little bit of news there. More messages from macho fan and brownstronaut division roundup and King of the north with John Hughes. An interview with another brownsbackers chapter, this time the Brooklyn Browns backers. And of course, the week 10 preview for the game against the Jets. So with that. Knock, knock. [00:05:27] Speaker B: Who's there? [00:05:27] Speaker A: I eat mop. [00:05:29] Speaker B: I eat mop. Who? [00:05:30] Speaker A: Oh, that's gross, man. Now let's get things started with the burger for news story of the week. All right, guys. So this week's news story of the week. A billboard popped up recently in Cleveland for Cornerstone Church that has caught the attention of Browns fans everywhere. Ooh. It's a picture of a guy in a Browns jersey. And this is what it says. It says, let's be honest, Browns fans, do you really have anything better to do on Sundays? [00:06:06] Speaker B: That's a fair critique. [00:06:08] Speaker A: It's pretty sad when literally your own community just takes shot shots at the team, like non stop. [00:06:12] Speaker B: We are officially a punchline in everything we do. [00:06:15] Speaker A: The Cleveland Browns. I mean, what was the joke you saw about the game getting flexed this week? [00:06:19] Speaker B: I mean, the Browns jets game was being flexed to 4am on Tubi. [00:06:23] Speaker A: Yeah, it's. It's. [00:06:26] Speaker D: I think it's great marketing. I think it's really good. [00:06:28] Speaker A: Yeah, it's just for them. Yeah. Good job, Cornerstone Church. Go check them out. Not that I care where you go to church, but just they. They're funny marketing. [00:06:37] Speaker B: At least they're satanic church. [00:06:39] Speaker A: But yeah, the Browns and the punch lines and all that. Just a sign of the times. [00:06:45] Speaker B: I guess. [00:06:46] Speaker D: So he threw it in there. [00:06:47] Speaker A: Yeah. And then one more thing. Before we get to the Browns, let me remind you to call the Burning River Sportscast. Nobody gets call. Leave your hot on the hot take hotline. And before I tell you where to call, let's go ahead and listen to the hot take that we have right now. [00:07:01] Speaker B: All right? [00:07:02] Speaker C: Hi, my name is Al Parsons. I'm from Lynchburg, Virginia. Funeral three, four. Let me tell you something, Kansas fancy. He is wrong. He should play Jar Sanders. I don't know what his effing problem is. I mean, the man had all the talent, all the tools. I mean, either play him or gamified should be fired. And he's not. I don't know. He's coaching there twice. I get that. But Andrew Barry and I don't know what's wrong at the owner haslam easy. I mean, he has them is wrong. If you're getting the owner again, the coach, I mean throw me coaches so many quarterbacks. It's ridiculous. Since you've been in this in his. In back since 1999. This is ridiculous. I mean Kansas Vassy, you don't want to play Gabriel as not the man. That's Gabriel. Get Sanders in there. Sandra is a man. He's drafting man for one reason. Get paint that damn stadium we talked about. He sells more jurors than anybody. Play Sanders. Get fat ass and get Sanders in there. Come on, come on. This repeatless. We need Sanders in there now. Do something. Have them fire Safansky. Do something. I mean this we need to. This we need to super. This we need super winner now. Cleveland is not going to target this crazy loose fans. You don't have a damn station. [00:08:31] Speaker D: Loose fans. [00:08:32] Speaker C: You'll get fast enough to fire the coach. So play. Play the play Sanders. So I mean he's not throwing touchdowns. He's not throwing. He's throwing too many interceptions. So I mean, I don't know what else to say. This is ridiculous. Do something. So I'm sorry if I'm starting, but I don't know what else to say. Do something. Fire the damn coach or play the quarterback. Gotta play Sanders. Gotta play. I mean, I'm sorry, but this is, this is. This is getting old. You got rid of Flaco, you got rid of Pickens. I mean sugar pickings, you got rid of Dylan. So something's got to happen here. I mean, we're gonna lose fans here. So do something, man. Fire the coach. Or if you can't fire the coach, deal with the owner. Keep Sanders. Play Sanders, man. Come on. Do something. We're tired of not winning, having a Super bowl here. It's always late for next year. Fans are tired waiting next year. Shit. Come on. Get with it. Cleveland fans. Get with it. Cleveland Browns coaching staff, get with it. The owner. Get with it. Get your head out of your ass. Get with it. Tired of waiting. Next year. Shit. Get with it. [00:09:56] Speaker A: That's what I'm talking about on the hot take hotline. You know, I mean, if nothing else, that was as passionate like that's what everybody's feeling like that he's just very passionate about the fact that he's sick of the Browns. [00:10:08] Speaker B: That was the collective frustration of all of us. [00:10:12] Speaker A: And don't get me wrong, like I know you know that that ended up being a. A fairly long voicemail. But like that's, that's, that's where I go every Time I talk about the Browns and. And kind of how. [00:10:22] Speaker F: Well, yeah. [00:10:22] Speaker B: You just can't. [00:10:22] Speaker A: What situation we're in right now. [00:10:24] Speaker B: Like, we're. [00:10:25] Speaker A: You just. You think about it and you just say it over and over again because you're like, what else can I say? Like, this is terrible. [00:10:31] Speaker B: Shouldn't be that hard. [00:10:32] Speaker A: It is statistically improbable to be as bad as the Cleveland Browns have been since 1999. [00:10:38] Speaker B: Yeah. Like, and I like that he was just for firing everybody. Let's fire Stefans. Fire the owner. [00:10:44] Speaker A: Fire everybody. [00:10:45] Speaker B: Literally, everybody's got a fire sale. I like that. [00:10:47] Speaker A: Yeah, I do like that. And, yeah, the only. The only kind of downside to everything, like, the thing I want to let him know is he said we need a Super bowl winner now. We ain't getting a Super bowl winner now. [00:10:59] Speaker B: Not getting one of those. [00:10:59] Speaker A: Yeah. Not anytime soon, either. So I'm with you, though. Play should wear Sanders. Yeah. Like, yeah. [00:11:06] Speaker B: It's time. We've seen enough Dylan Gabriel to know. [00:11:08] Speaker A: I don't know what. [00:11:08] Speaker B: We're not going to be the guy. I'd like to at least get a peek, you know, under the curtain to see, you know, under the hood of Shador. To see. [00:11:16] Speaker A: You want to see under Shador's head? I do. [00:11:17] Speaker B: I want to see under his hood. I want to see if he's going to be the guy next year. [00:11:21] Speaker A: Something bounced up into his bonnet. [00:11:24] Speaker B: Because this. This draft is going to be on us before we know it. And this quarterback class is, you know, as good a guess as anyone who's going to be the top quarterback coming out. You got to figure out what you have. [00:11:35] Speaker A: Yeah. Bottom line, the takeaway from Al is get with it, Cleveland Browns. And we're right here with you. [00:11:40] Speaker B: Get with it. [00:11:40] Speaker A: Yep. [00:11:41] Speaker B: Thanks for calling, al. [00:11:42] Speaker A: Yep. And so one more time, the hot take hotline, the number to call there is 330-2278-0813-3022-7808, 1330, 2278-0813-3022-7888. One call now. We're not standing by, but we will put you on the air. [00:11:58] Speaker B: Yeah, like Al. [00:11:58] Speaker A: Yeah, like Al. Al. Al was on the air. [00:12:00] Speaker B: Big Al. [00:12:01] Speaker A: Thanks for the call, Al. [00:12:01] Speaker D: Yeah, thanks. [00:12:02] Speaker A: Speaking of hot takes, it's time for dig it with the macho fan. [00:12:12] Speaker F: Oh, yeah. [00:12:14] Speaker A: The BU Week is over. We got a rest now. We take that to New York. The New York Jets. That's right. [00:12:23] Speaker B: You might be flying, but we ain't buying what you're supplying. [00:12:27] Speaker A: So when we go there, we're gonna. [00:12:29] Speaker B: Take a bite of the big Apple. [00:12:31] Speaker A: That's how we do things. Cause we're hungry. We're hungry for the W. So let's go. Brown fit. [00:12:40] Speaker B: Second half. [00:12:41] Speaker A: Let's go. So macho. [00:12:51] Speaker B: The macho dude strikes again. [00:12:53] Speaker A: Macho dude. Yeah, he does. He's. He's. He might be one of the few Browns fans that gets pumped for these games. [00:13:01] Speaker B: The undying optimism of the macho fan. [00:13:03] Speaker A: Love it. Love it. With that. You know, we've called this segment coming up. We haven't had a name for it for a long time. It's just been in other Browns news, and we've made fun of ourselves countless times for not having a name for the segment. So we've officially named this segment, and the new name for this segment is Brown's Brief. [00:13:35] Speaker D: Nice pair of undies there. [00:13:36] Speaker A: Yeah. In case anyone. You know, obviously if you're listening to this on audio, you can't see our graphics that we have up in the studio, but you know, we have a pair of Cleveland Browns underwear with some shit stains on them. And that's the Browns brief. Just because that's. It's just. It's just a sign of the times. [00:13:52] Speaker B: You know, where we cover all the Browns news in the stained Browns underwear. [00:13:57] Speaker A: Yeah. So let's start off the inaugural Browns brief with Jim Lee. [00:14:01] Speaker D: Jim. [00:14:02] Speaker B: Good old Jim Lee. Jim Lee. [00:14:04] Speaker A: Cricket. Jimmy Haslam is officially testing Browns fans loyalty this past week with a 434 ticket price hike for season ticket holders at new. At the new stadium. Guys, thoughts here? [00:14:15] Speaker D: Wow. [00:14:19] Speaker B: Leave it to bone. [00:14:20] Speaker D: That is a large jump. [00:14:22] Speaker B: Yeah. I mean, I think we've like, by and large have been very supportive of the move to the new stadium and with the understanding that a new stadium is going to, you know, inherently come with additional cost. But I think there's a. A level where it has to make sense for Browns fans. You certainly don't want to price out the. The average fan or the average season ticket holder. And it seems like we might be headed down that road, which is really unf. Fortunate. [00:14:49] Speaker A: Yeah. And where, where it gets me is like, I don't mind doing this for things like club level seats, for things like, you know, field level, lower bowl, like where, you know, like, I get it. It's a business. You want the corporations to pay for these big ticket prices, like, okay, put them up there, price them high. But for like the, the, the second level or even the upper deck, like, what are you doing making tickets like $5,000 for two tickets or six? I think it's even more than that. I think it's like $6,000 for two tickets for upper level. [00:15:20] Speaker B: I think. And obviously the MLB is very different, but I think the guardians have done a really good job of providing entry level ticket points for families, especially families with young kids, to be able to go and see a game that is. [00:15:31] Speaker A: And they're adding to it. They're, they're, they're completely renovating the stadium and adding to it. [00:15:35] Speaker B: Yeah, and I, and I don't know that you can replicate that in, in total because there's only 17 NFL games. [00:15:40] Speaker A: So yeah, there's like a million baseball games. [00:15:42] Speaker B: But to me, like, there should be some kind of compromise here. I mean, I would have liked to them to see them at least issue like dog pound tickets as like the everyman's tickets. Like anybody can buy a dog pound ticket for, you know, 100, 150 bucks. [00:15:55] Speaker A: Wasn't that the whole point? Like, and don't get me wrong, like, I'm not trying to say like, we're off of the new state. Well, you were because they got rid of the taco place, but. [00:16:04] Speaker B: Well, yeah, when you close down Captain Taco, that's a tragedy. [00:16:08] Speaker A: But besides that, like, I'm still for the new stadium, but like to your point, with the dog pound, like, it's, that was the point of the dog pound and even the new renovated dog pound, that was a big deal when they, they came out with the renderings of the stadium and how it's built. And it's, it's, it's like basically like seats are almost on top of each other and it's a sound wall for. Well, if nobody can buy the tickets, like, how are you going to create that, that and that whole scenario. [00:16:31] Speaker B: What's really off base here is like part of building the new stadium is I, and I get it. Jimmy Haslam is a billionaire and this is an investment and it's got to have a return. But you're going to be making so much money now because you can use this stadium all year long. So you're going to have concerts come in, trade shows, like anything that you could. This indoor megaplex that's going to be built there along with all the parking and the stadium and land lease for restaurants and things that they're going to have on the property. Like, there's going to be no shortage of money to be made. There Seems like there should be some compromise on ticket prices for fans, but I guess we'll See, I mean, obviously a lot of this is very early as well. [00:17:11] Speaker A: That was the other thing that I kind of fell back on, especially the upper. Like I was saying, the upper deck tickets and things like that. Like, this is the initial release of, like, this is what tickets cost. Well, when nobody buys those tickets, especially the upper deck, because the corpor operations aren't trying to get you up or deck tickets, that doesn't impress anybody. So like, those I think will come back. Like, those will come back down to earth when they don't sell the first round through and they're like, okay, we'll lower prices and then get this off. I mean, you got to remember, this thing doesn't open until 2029. [00:17:38] Speaker B: And that's what I was going to say is I don't want to overreact to a stadium that doesn't even exist yet. [00:17:43] Speaker A: Right. [00:17:43] Speaker B: So as we get closer to opening day of the new stadium and we see really, you know, that kind of a year out, 12 months out to when they're playing in the new dome, we'll have a much better idea of what's, what's fact and what's f fiction. But. But still really unfortunate that, I mean. [00:17:58] Speaker A: You'Ve seen 434 right off the rip is pretty hard. You've seen a number like, I can't. [00:18:03] Speaker B: You know, afford additional 10,000 or $20,000 for my six seats that I have every year that I've had forever. Like, so anyway, hopefully that gets figured out and, and they can come to terms on some better, better pricing. But. [00:18:15] Speaker A: Yep. Next up here, Joe Flacco. The first four games with the Browns this year, 815 yards, two touchdowns, six interceptions. Four games with the Bengals this year, 1254 yards, 11 touchdowns and two interceptions. Like, let's just extrapolate that. [00:18:30] Speaker B: Do you think we could trade for that guy? [00:18:31] Speaker A: Maybe if. Trade deadline is this week. So. [00:18:34] Speaker B: He would be nice to have a quarterback like that here. [00:18:36] Speaker A: Yeah, Joe Burrow's gonna be coming back soon, so he might be available. [00:18:39] Speaker B: Yeah, Yeah, I think it's a good move. Yeah, he should make that call. Andrew Barry. [00:18:42] Speaker A: Yeah, this is, this is like his kind of move. You know, a guy that's a little bit older, you know, might be quote unquote, past his prime. [00:18:50] Speaker B: I heard playing well, I heard he can be bought for like a six rounder. [00:18:53] Speaker A: Yeah, I don't know. Yeah. I mean, does this. Is this the final nail in the coffin for like Kevin Stefanski? Like, this is. It's definitely the offense. Like what are Your guys thoughts here. [00:19:04] Speaker B: I think the next bullet point is. [00:19:09] Speaker A: Which. Which one? Oh, the fact that Kevin has officially turned over play calling to Tommy Reese. [00:19:16] Speaker B: Yeah, I think this is certainly the most interesting story of the week because there's been a lot of speculation that this Browns not made to compete this year. And to be fair. Right. Most analysts had the Browns winning three to five games. [00:19:32] Speaker A: Ish. [00:19:32] Speaker B: Outside of you and bone that thought they were going to be 500 or better. [00:19:35] Speaker A: I said one game under 500, let's be clear. [00:19:37] Speaker B: But most professional prognosticators had them winning between three and five games. And so there was kind of this veiled understanding that maybe Kevin had a pass on this season no matter what they did as a team. The fact that you are in the bye week now and scrambling to come up with another answer in that we all know Kevin wants call place. That's part of the reason he was brought here. Offensive mastermind. All these things for him to give up play calling now and for the second year in a row because we did this whole sham with Ken Dorsey last year just speaks to. There is some panic in the Stefanski Org there because you don't make a move like that unless you're feeling some kind of pressure. You kind of feel the, the grip tightening around you and everything. [00:20:24] Speaker A: Like do you think, do you think a conversation happened where they. It might not be like a threat necessarily, but like a hey, look, I know we said that you get a pass this year, but you got to show us something. [00:20:35] Speaker B: I think at the point where your, your defense has six sacks in a game and you get blown out by 20 points. 20, there's. There's probably a conversation that's like it. [00:20:45] Speaker A: Was way closer to 30 is 29 points. [00:20:47] Speaker B: We're not even asking for linear growth over time. We're asking for any growth. And we've seen complete regression from this team and you are wasting the talented years of the guys that you do have on this roster by your inability to perform on offense. And the, the Joe Flacco thing certainly doesn't help when he goes to Cincinnati and is playing well. [00:21:06] Speaker A: Lights it up. [00:21:07] Speaker B: Why wasn't that guy able to be successful? [00:21:08] Speaker A: Seriously, extrapolate that. Yeah, I know we talked about this off the air, but extrapolate Joe Flacco's numbers in the last four games with the Bengals for an entire season. Like you're talking Joe Burrow numbers at that point. You're talking MVP numbers. [00:21:20] Speaker B: Oh, if you double, if you double the numbers there, that's 2500 yards, 22 touchdowns to four picks. [00:21:25] Speaker A: That's an eight games. You got another eight games. Nine games. On top of that, you're in the MVP conversation. [00:21:30] Speaker B: You're in the player of the, you know, comeback player of the year conversation. Like, that's why. [00:21:35] Speaker A: I mean, obviously, when it. That's a hard pace to keep up for an entire season. But if you go over. Let's just go over 16 games, multiply all that by four, like, you're talking 44 touchdowns to eight interceptions. [00:21:45] Speaker B: That's the kind of pace breakneck. And. And for the Browns to go through multiple quarterbacks in camp and not be able to realize what potential is out there in a guy like Joe Flacco that may be 40 years old, but still obviously can spin it, but couldn't do it here. Now nobody can do it here. The saving grace there is the Bengals have the same record as the Browns. [00:22:05] Speaker A: Over there because they have the worst defense known to man, but they have. [00:22:07] Speaker B: A really poor defense and not a strong running game. But all things equal, like, they're not losing games because the quarterback is playing poorly, which is what was happening here. [00:22:16] Speaker A: Right? Yeah. And so back to this turning things over to Tommy Reese thing. Like. Yeah, I mean, I'm with you. I think this panic move out of Kevin and I think. I think that Jimmy did have a conversation with him and it came back to. Yeah, I mean, we told you that you had a pass this year, but it was within reason. Like, when you. When you talk about, like, we can't even score 13 points most of the time, that's not a guy that you keep around, especially when he's known as. Is an offensive. I don't even call him guru or genius anymore. But an offensive guy in general. Like, I mean, you don't even have to be genius. An offensive guy will score you 20 points a game. [00:22:55] Speaker B: I mean, the NFL basically hands out 20 points at this point. [00:22:57] Speaker A: Right. [00:22:58] Speaker B: The way that it's officiated and the rule changes that have been made, all of those things favor the offense and favor the passing game. And 20 points is almost like. Like, that's the. The bottom bare minimum watermark is. Is 20 points. [00:23:12] Speaker A: We can't do that, though. [00:23:13] Speaker B: We can't sniff that. You have a hard time convincing anyone that you're good at offense when. When you can't. I just. To me, this is a total freakout move by Stefanski and his group because I think. As if you're. If you're asking me, what does Kevin Stefanski do? Well, what should Kevin what should buy Kevin another year here? The guy was brought in to call place, and if he can't do that. And that was the one thing people kind of hung their hats on. Oh, Kevin Stefanski's offense is great. Clearly, it's not to the point where now in consecutive years, he's had to back off of play calling. Now. Now I applaud the move because I don't think Kevin should have been calling plays, especially after he gave it up last year. They should have just went to Tommy Reese at the beginning. [00:23:54] Speaker A: I don't know how he went back to him calling plays this year after he gave it up last year, but, you know, whatever. [00:24:00] Speaker D: Kind of going back to last week on a little theory Kenny put out there about Shador not being Stevens, his guy, and Barry kind of forced it on him. [00:24:09] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:24:09] Speaker D: What if he's distancing himself? [00:24:11] Speaker A: No, but absolutely. [00:24:13] Speaker D: And they're making themselves. They're gonna be playing Shador here soon. He got hurt. Whatever. He's. He was out today with a back inj. [00:24:20] Speaker A: Yeah, we record on Mondays. His. He was out Monday with a back. He still had that lingering back issue and didn't practice much, but it all seems very childish. So. Bone, you actually bring up a good point. And I had this in my notes and just. Just hadn't got to it yet, so you beat me to it. Is the last time last year when he gave up play calling. Last time Kevin gave up play calling was when they were getting ready to start a quarterback that he didn't really want to play, which at the time was Jameis Winston. [00:24:45] Speaker D: Sure. [00:24:47] Speaker A: Jameis Winston comes in, and even though he's throwing for yards and we're scoring points, he's. Turnover machine. [00:24:52] Speaker D: Yeah. [00:24:52] Speaker A: And so Kevin's like, I don't know. I'm not running this offense. I don't know. [00:24:56] Speaker B: Yeah, you kind of wash your hands of it. [00:24:58] Speaker D: Yeah. [00:24:58] Speaker A: And so I'm wondering, to your point is. Is that exactly what's happening? Yeah, he's like, shador is going to be coming in soon. [00:25:04] Speaker D: Part of it. He's got to have a part of. [00:25:05] Speaker A: It, but it's not me. [00:25:06] Speaker B: It's a calculated political move. [00:25:08] Speaker D: Yeah. [00:25:08] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:25:09] Speaker B: Which is something you'd see on Hardball on msnbc, not on NFL Live. So. [00:25:13] Speaker A: Yeah. The crazy thing is too, like, we. We've. We've talked about this, Kenny, and I know it's all over social media. We're not the only ones talking about it now. I mean, we've been the only ones talking about it for, like, four Years, but now everybody's talking about it. You talk about Kevin Stefanski and like the Browns not being able to score 17 points. Like that goes back all the way to like, the Baker years. People want to say the, the. The offense was humming when Baker and, and Chub were here. No, it was not. [00:25:36] Speaker B: It wasn't. They were doing enough to get by. [00:25:38] Speaker A: The defense was very good, was the best, and they were doing enough to win games. But you go scoring averages, we were still like, at the, the, like the bottom five of the league, and it was down around 17, 18 points a game. [00:25:49] Speaker B: That's why so many people were willing to let the desean thing pass, because they were like, well, you know, if you can tell me we're going to improve the offense with a top five or top 10 quarterback, people were like, all right, like, I'll kick the tires on that. I'll give that a shot. You know, even though we're winning, you know, playoff games, it doesn't matter. [00:26:04] Speaker A: You could have the number one quarterback. You put him in the worst offense known to man, he ain't going to do well. [00:26:08] Speaker B: Well, see Joe Flacco, exhibit A. I. [00:26:11] Speaker A: Mean, that's dudes on pace. 6,000 yards, 44 touchdowns and interception. So, I mean, I don't know, but yeah, just, just why? And weird timing coming out of the buy. You won't go to Shore, Sanders, but you're. You're going to kind of like preeminently. I'll give a play calling because I don't want to even be a part of that. [00:26:30] Speaker B: And it's just so odd going back to the press conference at the end of, of last week, which was heading into the buy, which is everything's on the table, everything's being evaluated, except for my 5 foot 9 quarterback. If everything's on the table and everything's being evaluated, that should be everything. [00:26:46] Speaker A: That should be like the first thing. [00:26:47] Speaker B: Everything. And it's. Yeah, you' and starts and ends with your quarterback. So that should be the very first. [00:26:51] Speaker A: Maybe they couldn't find him. They walked in there like, yelling, and he's just like evaluating right over his head. [00:26:55] Speaker B: And to just write that off as we're not even going to think about it. I. I mean, it's just, you know, ego and all these things that we've been talking about for weeks now just showing itself. So, yeah, just a very sad state that the Browns are in right now. [00:27:09] Speaker A: Yeah. A couple, couple more quick things in the Browns. Brief trade deadlines this week. According to, like, everybody, the Browns aren't trading anybody and they're more buyers than sellers, which I don't know how you' buyer when you don't have anything to sell to buy thing. Like this is a, this is a barter system. We're talking trades. Like I guess we have that. But I doubt they're giving up draft capital at this point. So just kind of odd comments coming out of Cleveland. I think that's the whole like we're tight lipped until something happens. They're going to. There's going to be a trade that happens. [00:27:42] Speaker B: Who wasn't tight lipped? [00:27:44] Speaker A: Mike Hall Jr. Michael Jr. Yeah. So before, before the trade deadline, he tweeted out and it just said said traded dot, dot, dot. And then he immediately deleted it. Not before, you know, everybody. The whole Internet screenshot it and let everybody. [00:27:59] Speaker B: The Internet is forever. [00:28:01] Speaker A: And again we're recording before the deadline so we'll see what happens here. But speculation is that this might be the Cowboys. Jerry Jones confirmed that they had a trade in place for a defensive lineman, but wouldn't reveal who it was because Dallas is currently playing on Monday night. They have, you know, there's other details that needed to be finalized or whatever. So trade deadline is Tuesday. Right. So I'm sure we'll find out tomorrow if he actually is traded. But Besides Mike Hall Jr anyways, like, I think there's going to be a couple more. I know they keep saying there's no way David Ajoku gets traded. I would be shocked if David and Joku doesn't get traded like I honestly would because I mean he's like your one piece where you can bring value back and you don't necessarily need. With the, the emergence of Harold Fannin Jr. You don't need a top tier tight end. [00:28:46] Speaker B: I said for weeks, I mean anybody would be on the table. Unlike Kevin Stefanski. I think everything should be on the table. And whether that's in Joku, whether that's. [00:28:55] Speaker A: That's Miles. [00:28:56] Speaker B: I know Miles is a new. [00:28:57] Speaker A: There was, there was. There are rumors out there where like the Eagles are willing to give up two first rounders now second round first rounders for Miles. [00:29:05] Speaker B: Like, you know, let's rebuild this team. [00:29:08] Speaker A: And the Eagles have been active. We'll get into that in a little bit. But the Eagles have been very active so far. Yeah. [00:29:13] Speaker B: So we'll be interesting to see how that trade deadline pans out. Not a ton of moves to this point, but a couple. [00:29:20] Speaker A: Yep. So that's it for the inaugural Browns brief. Let's go ahead and get into division roundup. Okay, so starting off the division roundup this week, Cincinnati lost to the Bears. You bone at 1. Bone. Text says a subtle jab at the very end of that game. Like, man, flacco's pretty good 470 yards. You guys see that? [00:29:50] Speaker D: Came back? Onside kick. [00:29:52] Speaker A: Yeah. And we're like, whatever, Bone. We picked the Bears. And he's. [00:29:57] Speaker D: You guys are both like, we hate King of the North. [00:29:59] Speaker A: I didn't say that. Kenny said that. I'm not in last place. But he did say that. And yeah, the. The Bears ended up coming back and winning. So, yeah, once again, fu. [00:30:09] Speaker D: Bone. I didn't even watch the end of it. Well, I didn't have the channel anyways, but I thought the game was over. [00:30:12] Speaker A: Yeah, it wasn't. [00:30:13] Speaker D: You guys immediately texted me. Talking crap. [00:30:16] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:30:17] Speaker D: Was well. Well deserved. [00:30:19] Speaker A: Yeah. Joe Flacco, in case you were wondering, 31 of 47 for 470 yards, four touchdowns and two interceptions, one interceptions. Was a Hail Mary at the end of the game. So really, one interception. [00:30:28] Speaker B: The most yards by a quarterback over the age of 40. All time. [00:30:31] Speaker A: All time. How does that list go again? Is it Joe Flacco? [00:30:34] Speaker B: Flacco. Tom Brady, Brett Favre. Tom Brady. Tom Brady. [00:30:37] Speaker D: Couple chumps. [00:30:38] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:30:38] Speaker B: Couple jumps. [00:30:39] Speaker A: But anyway, so me, Kenny and John, Big John Hughes were all right in this one. And Bone, you were wrong. Suck it. Next up here. Baltimore beat the Dolphins. We were all right there. I don't. I don't think anybody thought the Dolphins had a chance with Lamar coming back. And then Pittsb. Pittsburgh beat the Colts. I don't even know what to say about this one. [00:31:03] Speaker B: We were all wrong. [00:31:04] Speaker A: Yeah, we all were wrong. I don't know. [00:31:08] Speaker D: Colts did not look good. [00:31:10] Speaker A: Both the Colts and Pittsburgh are just, like, so confusing to me right now. And I don't know if this was like, Pittsburgh's defense been shit all year, and then all of a sudden they forced five turnovers or six turnovers, whatever it was. And I don't know if that was. Their defense was actually good or if Danny Dimes decided he was finally going to be Danny Dimes again and just be. Turnover machine had five turnovers alone. [00:31:31] Speaker F: Yeah. [00:31:32] Speaker B: I mean, the Colts have been riding a pretty good wave of luck here because it's hard to get to 7 and 1 in the NFL anyway, and to do it behind any Dimes, you know, coming into some kind of resurgence here just almost just topically makes you think, like, if it's too good to be true, it probably is. So I. I don't know. I don't know if they're just pretenders there that had a good both teams. [00:31:56] Speaker A: Are pretender streak, but I think both teams are pretenders. [00:31:58] Speaker B: But it was certainly tough to think Pittsburgh was going to win, was going walk in there and win if it's 7 and 1. [00:32:04] Speaker F: So. [00:32:05] Speaker A: And especially like that. But either way, we were all wrong. And so for the AFC north standings so far this season, Pittsburgh still on top of five and three, Baltimore behind him. Now, Baltimore officially overtook Cincinnati. Baltimore's at 3 and 5, Cincinnati's at 3 and 6 and Cleveland bringing up the rear at 2 and 6. [00:32:27] Speaker B: So the craziest part is like I still think Baltimore is going to win this division and you're only one game behind four Baltimore. [00:32:32] Speaker A: That is crazy. And we got him in two weeks or in a week. A week from Jets. Yeah. You know what I'm saying? But anyways, current king of the north standards, which we'll talk more about later. But bone on top at 16 and 13. I am at 15 and 14. Big John Hughes is at 14 and 15 and Kenny still way back there at 11 and 18. So you're. You're a little closer to. 500 this. This week. [00:32:55] Speaker B: Don't call it a comeback. [00:32:57] Speaker A: I won't. And with that, let's take a quick trip around the N. All right, so to start off around the NFL, I mentioned just a minute ago, Danny Dimes came back down to earth against the Steelers this week. The first seven games this year, Daniel Jones had three turnovers against the Steelers alone. Five. [00:33:23] Speaker B: That's a lot. [00:33:25] Speaker D: Yeah. [00:33:25] Speaker A: He had a. Three picks and two. Two fumbles. It was. It was a bad day for. For him, so. Feels bad. I think Danny Dimes is finally going to come back down to earth. I think the Colts. Here's a hot take. I think the Colts finish only a couple of games above.500. Yeah. [00:33:40] Speaker D: Yeah. [00:33:41] Speaker A: How about that? [00:33:42] Speaker B: Foxy owner lady won't be happy with that. [00:33:43] Speaker A: No, she won't. She'll be. Heads will roll. [00:33:45] Speaker F: Heads will roll. [00:33:46] Speaker B: Heads will roll. [00:33:48] Speaker A: Sign of the times. [00:33:50] Speaker B: Is that the only one you got? [00:33:51] Speaker A: Yeah, I'll come up with more next week. Big story out of Washington, Kenny. Your boy Luke McCaffrey done for the season. Broken collarbone. Feels bad. [00:34:01] Speaker B: I see my boy because I wanted them to draft him. [00:34:03] Speaker A: Yeah. I don't know. Also, that quarterback that they have down there in Washington, pretty good. He's done for the year with a gruesome, gruesome elbow injury. [00:34:12] Speaker B: Yeah. Your arm doesn't point that direction. [00:34:14] Speaker A: No, no, no. No, no. And he was playing in the fourth quarter of a blowout too, so I don't really know what that was about, but I guess the good news for. [00:34:20] Speaker B: Him is it's his non throwing arm. So true. You know, it could be several weeks for. [00:34:23] Speaker A: You don't need it. Just cut it off. I'll go play next week, but yeah, it feels bad. Hopefully Ronnie lot cut off a finger. [00:34:33] Speaker B: Once, you know, like the tip. [00:34:35] Speaker A: Yeah. So that's what she said. [00:34:37] Speaker B: I think he just pulled off a scab. I don't think he cut it off. [00:34:39] Speaker A: Yeah. Next up, Minnesota beat the Lions this weekend. And after the game, JJ McCarthy put on Instagram, kneecaps are intact act. That's kind of funny. I still hate JJ McCarthy though. Yeah, he's a clown. [00:34:51] Speaker B: He's a loser. [00:34:53] Speaker A: Did you see, like, they. They made a big deal about espn. Did he got like a game ball and his like, face when he was like getting the game ball, he was like real serious and intense looking. They're like always locked in. I was like, I just think he looks like a douche. Like, like, why are you so intense right now? You guys just. Yeah, you guys just won and like, like, what are you doing? I don't know. Yeah, I don't know. Not a big JJ McCarthy fan. I think he's another guy that. I think the luster on him is going to start to wear off here as we go down the stretch. [00:35:23] Speaker B: Well, yeah, I mean, it seems like that offense is, I don't want to say hamstrung a bit, but like, it's just not as explosive with him as it was with Carson Wentz. [00:35:33] Speaker A: Yeah. Like, they've won some games, but it's kind of in spite of him. [00:35:36] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:35:37] Speaker A: He is to Minnesota what Kevin Stefanski is to the Browns. [00:35:41] Speaker B: And to be fair, Minnesota has a pretty good quarterbuild around. Their defense is pretty solid. They're. [00:35:44] Speaker A: I instantly take back that quote, by the way, because Minnesota wins. So. [00:35:49] Speaker B: Yeah, we don't do that here. [00:35:50] Speaker A: No. And then next up here, Dolphins fired their GM but not Mike McDaniels. [00:35:56] Speaker B: Happy trails, Greer. [00:35:58] Speaker A: So I thought that was kind of weird. I mean, Mike McDaniels just seems like he's. He's either in withdrawal or just, you know, what's going. I don't know what's going on down there, but he's. [00:36:07] Speaker B: Allegedly. [00:36:07] Speaker A: He just is like every news, every press conference he comes to, his hair is like just all over the place. It looks like he was sitting behind the, you know, backstage just like oh God, what am I going to say today? This team is out of control and I, I, I just, I think he's just as much to blame. I don't know why he's still there. [00:36:24] Speaker B: But an interesting cat, but it's good cinema. [00:36:26] Speaker A: Yep. And then I already mentioned it. The trade deadline is this week. Just some quick trade recaps here. Titans sent Draymond Green, Draymond Jones to the Ravens for a 5th round pick. Pick. Miami traded Jalen Phillips to Philly for a third rounder. The Ravens traded J. Alexander to the Eagles. The jets traded cornerback Carter to the Eagles for wide receiver Mechi. And the Steelers traded a seventh rounder to New England for safety Kyle Duggar. Just some of the trades that have happened and then big names on the trade block. We'll see if we have anything to say about this next week when we come back. But Trey Hendrickson, Bradley Chubb, Logan Wilson, Minka Fitzpatrick, Chris Alave and Anthony Jennings all on the trade block right now. So you think any of those names get moved? If you want to add some of the Browns just in rumors at least. David Ajoku and Miles Garrett, Michael Jr. Mike Hall Jr. But I don't know that I would count that as a big name on the trade block. [00:37:21] Speaker B: Rayshawn Jenkins also I've seen in a number of conversations but I mean obviously by the time our show comes out, all this will be, all this will be fixed kind of moot. But, but I think Alave potentially to the Bills is a really interesting one. [00:37:34] Speaker A: He hasn't even been able to play in a few years, has he? [00:37:37] Speaker B: He's been banged up a bit, but still a top tier wide receiver. And obviously the Trey Hendrickson news would be huge because his contract situation in Cincinnati has been a disaster. [00:37:47] Speaker A: Oh, you know, if he, if he gets traded, it's like a, it's like a, he's gonna get trade and sign a extension immediately. [00:37:52] Speaker B: Oh yeah. [00:37:53] Speaker A: So. [00:37:53] Speaker B: Well, I'm sure they vacated a pretty solid cap availability with make a Fitz or makeup. [00:38:00] Speaker A: Yep, exactly. Micah Parson, Michael Parsons. You did the same thing I did before we got on the air. See, you look like an idiot though. [00:38:05] Speaker B: So they probably have room for a guy like that. [00:38:07] Speaker A: Yeah, but yeah, just so just some names to, to keep an eye on. But like you said, as, as this show comes out, unfortunately it's, that's the downside of being a dev. [00:38:16] Speaker B: Trey Hendrickson could be a Brown by Thursday. You don't know. [00:38:18] Speaker A: That'd be dope ass. They're gonna trade Miles Garrett for him straight up? [00:38:21] Speaker B: No, I was thinking pair him with Miles. I don't know what that would do for us. [00:38:27] Speaker A: Yeah, I don't know either. Kenny, it's time for another interview in our Browns backers interview series. Do it. [00:38:36] Speaker B: How much money do you make a year before taxes? I'm actually not comfortable answering that. Come on, we're doing the interview now, not you. [00:38:47] Speaker A: All right, boys, for this brownsbackers interview, please help me. Welcome, hailing from o' Keefe's Bar and Grill in Brooklyn, New York, the president of the Brooklyn Brownsbackers, Justin. Justin, thank you so much for joining us. How are you today? [00:39:04] Speaker E: Doing well, Doing well. What are we, two and six? [00:39:11] Speaker A: Good start. Yeah. I mean, and with that being said, I mean, obviously, you know, we are two and six, but we got the jets this week. But we'll, we'll, we'll get to the game in just a second. Before we get to the Browns and the football side of things, tell us a little bit about your chapter. [00:39:27] Speaker E: So our chapter has been around for, for about 15 years here in Brooklyn and we are currently comfortably seated at O' Keeffe's Bar and Grill, 62 Court street in Brooklyn. And they are a wonderful hospitable bar. Just we have drink specials and it's the greatest thing about it is the visitors, everyone comes to New York for work or business. And if you're looking to watch the game with your local brethren, there we are at o'. Keeffe's. So it's a great backers bar with a lot of hometown people in. [00:40:03] Speaker A: Nice. Nice. And how did you, you know, you're out there in New York. How did you become a Browns fan? [00:40:10] Speaker E: So my father, who is 70, 78 years old, was born in Toledo and when he was a little guy, he was a big, huge Browns fan. All I hear about is Jim Brown and all the years of, you know, Kosar and Sipe and so he raised me a Browns fan and I never, I. It's been like the most painful but yet family oriented thing. [00:40:38] Speaker A: Yeah, you kind of get born into that. No choice. Yep. [00:40:41] Speaker D: Yeah. [00:40:42] Speaker A: Yeah. I've seen a lot of things lately actually where people were like, I'm going to give my kid the choice, like they could root for whoever they want. [00:40:49] Speaker B: It is painful. [00:40:50] Speaker A: Yeah. But no, I mean, with all that being said, we do have the jets this week. Right. So the jets not good. Worse than the Browns actually, Record wise are 1 and 7. The Browns are 2 and 6. What are your thoughts on this week's game? [00:41:07] Speaker E: My thoughts on this game is I'm. I'm extremely curious what Tommy Reese is going to do on Sunday. I, I'm kind of excited about him. I kind of feel like he's potentially the. He's going to be the key chess piece going forward. So I'm pretty positive about what we're going to see on Sunday, if I'm honest. [00:41:28] Speaker A: You think it's going to. That's going to be a big boost for the offense. I mean, under Stefanski. It's pretty well documented that we can't score 17 points under Stefanski. You think that's going to change when we go to Tommy Reese? [00:41:41] Speaker E: Yeah, I, I just think that when you get a new voice in that house helmet talking to Dylan Gabriel, I just think that that fresh voice, there's going to be a little bit of pep to that offense because, I mean, we're already in a corner, there's nowhere else to go, and we'll bark our way through it. I just, I kind of have a lot of faith in Tommy Reese. I don't know why, but do you. [00:42:04] Speaker A: Have as much faith in Dylan Gabriel? [00:42:06] Speaker E: No. [00:42:08] Speaker A: And that's kind of where we're at. Right. Is where I hear you. Like, I want to be optimistic about the Tommy Reese thing, but at the end of the day, I think what I look at is Dylan Gabri still playing quarterback for the Cleveland Browns, and I don't. I don't know that he can get the job done. [00:42:20] Speaker E: Yeah, I mean, the quarterback position is a thing that I've been like banging my head against a wall about for a while now. [00:42:27] Speaker F: I. [00:42:27] Speaker E: There's a lot of things I don't understand. Why Andrew Barry, you know, I just looked up earlier today, Mac Jones, what are the Niners? I mean, I looked up, his contract was like 8 million bucks and we gave what, 4 to Joe, I think. What's his name? Pickett, was it two? That's Mac Jones. [00:42:46] Speaker A: Jones. Yep. Yeah. And then what? Yeah. [00:42:48] Speaker E: And then Daniel Jones is like 11 million. [00:42:50] Speaker A: Yep. [00:42:51] Speaker E: And we went with a third round draft pick and Joe Flacco. [00:42:56] Speaker A: Genius level football right there. [00:42:59] Speaker B: Although Joe Flacco is at least playing well in Cincinnati now. Not winning a lot of games, but. [00:43:03] Speaker A: Well, I, I think Joe, I think Joe's the biggest. Just case study for the fact that it, it is clearly the Browns offense in general, and maybe not totally, but it. That plays a hu role. And how these quarterbacks are playing is just the, the, the offense that they're in because nobody's been able to be good in this offense in Cleveland. And I know there's other factors, weapons outside of that, whatever the case may be, but I mean, bottom line is Joe Flacco threw for 800 yards here, goes down there for throws for 1200 in the same amount of games, and the touchdown to interception is what, 2 to 6 to here and, and 11, 11 to 2 there. So I mean, it's not. Not rocket science. Like something's wrong with the offense. [00:43:48] Speaker E: Yeah. And that offensive line too. I, I don't know. I'm, I'm not against Kevin Stefanski. I don't think. I think that he's got a. He's got a hand. A cards in his hand, and I don't think he's got a good, A good hand. [00:44:02] Speaker A: So you're more of a. It's. It's more on Barry than it is on Stefanski. [00:44:06] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:44:06] Speaker E: And Barry literally saved himself with this last draft, which is, I think the best draft ever since the Brown Browns came back in. Was that 96 or 99? [00:44:16] Speaker A: Yeah, 99. [00:44:17] Speaker E: Yeah. And that's the. He just saved his job with that. But this roster, like I said with the quarterbacks, I don't, I don't see how you can go into a training camp with Flacco, Pickett, Gabriel and Sanders. [00:44:32] Speaker A: No, you actually bring up a good point, Justin. So you said he saved himself with this draft. I would argue that, that it's a wash. He also did as much damage to his reputation by taking Dylan Gabriel and Shador Sanders as he did with picking those, you know, the three rookies that are producing for the Browns right now. I think it's kind of a wash at this point. I would agree with you. Those three rookies so far are phenomenal. The fact that they're at the top of the league in like every stat category is great, but that's, you know, the luster is going to wear off that with Schwinger missing a lot of time now Quinn, Sean's banged up like the. Less luster is going to wear off that I think by the end of the season. You're looking at. And you're like, he did pick these two quarterbacks. [00:45:17] Speaker D: Yeah. [00:45:18] Speaker E: And Jackson Dart's not helping either. [00:45:20] Speaker A: Right. Right. [00:45:21] Speaker E: He's slinging it. [00:45:22] Speaker A: Yep. So, I mean, yeah, I, I don't know. We could argue that all day. We have that conversation. I feel like it's. Let me ask you this three times a show. [00:45:31] Speaker B: Let me ask you this, Justin. Do you think that the quarterback of the Browns future, whether it be Dylan Gabriel or Shador Sanders is. Is on currently or do you have your eye on somebody in the college ranks that you'd like to see them take in the draft next year? [00:45:44] Speaker E: Yeah, I would say it's going to be Ty Simpson from Alabama, even though he's barely played a large quantity of games. Six foot two and he's got a little bit of a rocket of an arm, so. [00:45:57] Speaker A: Yeah, that's a lot different than what we have behind center right now. Yeah. [00:46:01] Speaker E: And does my dark horse, Tommy Reese, is he familiar with Simpson or that. [00:46:05] Speaker F: I don't know. I don't know. [00:46:06] Speaker A: He might be. I. I don't know. [00:46:07] Speaker B: I think the guy still has ties there for sure. [00:46:11] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:46:13] Speaker A: With that being said, I mean, let's get back on track with this week's game because you. You take us down a rabbit hole, Justin. We'll talk all night, but this week's game, the Browns have the Jets. Who wins this game and what's the score? [00:46:26] Speaker E: I think this is going to be. [00:46:31] Speaker A: Wow. [00:46:33] Speaker E: You just said Quinton. John's injured, Gabriel is still not. I don't know. I think I say Brown's 24, Jets 10. [00:46:43] Speaker A: Whoa. [00:46:44] Speaker E: If I'm going to throw something out, see if it sticks, I just feel that Tommy's going to have something lined up to Sunday. I really do. [00:46:53] Speaker A: I kind of hope that they do score 24 points in this one because then instant gratification for Kevin sucks because that we're. I mean, I know you said you're not quite there, Justin, but we're on that bandwagon. We want him fired, so. [00:47:03] Speaker D: Really? [00:47:04] Speaker A: Oh, yeah. I mean, we. Again, we could get into it. We go down this rabbit hole, but I'm sure we've already. [00:47:11] Speaker B: We're. [00:47:11] Speaker A: We're already going to be talking about it a lot in our show, but yeah, instant gratification that it's the offense. If that's the case. [00:47:19] Speaker B: So got two weeks to prepare, so it should be. It's your best shot to get a good offense on the field this week. [00:47:24] Speaker A: Yeah, we didn't talk about it yet, Justin, but you know, the game being there in New York. Do you guys have any events going on this week? Any, any, any. Anything on your end happening with your chapter? [00:47:36] Speaker E: Yeah, so we're, we're carpooling over to the MetLife Stadium and we're teaming up with the Big Apple Browns, going to do a tailgate and we have a nice section together. I know that on Saturday, they're doing a huge pre tailgate party on Saturday that we're combining our clubs With. So they got the Brownie. The elf is coming down. [00:47:59] Speaker F: Down. [00:47:59] Speaker A: Nice. [00:48:00] Speaker E: From, from Cleveland. He's visiting the Big Apple on Saturday, so people will be there for that. And Sunday, I, you're going to see a lot of orange in the sands. I, I will say that. [00:48:10] Speaker A: Yeah. And I know we have, we have friends over at the North Jersey Brownsbackers as well that have a backers bash on Saturday and then a tailgate on Sunday. So I'm sure they're going to be combining with you guys as well with that tailgate. [00:48:21] Speaker E: So another great chapter. [00:48:24] Speaker A: Angry Bobby over there. Yeah, but yeah, and then do you. I mean, I, we didn' mention it, but we want to highlight it because it's one of the main reasons we do our interviews with the Brownsbackers chapters is, you know, you guys are obviously you're having events, you're having watch parties, you're doing raffles, those sorts of things. What kind of charities are you guys working with out there? [00:48:45] Speaker E: So there's a soup kitchen in Brooklyn called Chips C H I P S. Nice. And we're affiliated with them. [00:48:51] Speaker B: We. [00:48:52] Speaker E: We do some donations to them. And there's also one that we're going to get involved with. It's a suicide prevention ascension charity. And this, this charity we're going to be introducing in. Not this week, but the week after. It's something that a lot of. I mean, this is. It's kind of a dark moment here. [00:49:13] Speaker A: But you know, it's okay. It's life. It's. It's happening. So. [00:49:17] Speaker E: Yeah. And it's, you know, suicide and, and mental health is, is a real thing. And we really want, want to jump on that in a couple of weeks as well for a charity. So we're going to be adding to that. [00:49:30] Speaker A: Awesome. Yeah. No, two great causes. And then obviously I know every single Brownsbackers chapter out there gives a little bit back to the Browns Cleveland Browns foundation as well. So. Yeah, I mean, great things that you guys are doing out there and clubs of all sizes, they're just doing everything that they can to just help around their community. So we, we really appreciate all of you for that. [00:49:51] Speaker E: Thank you. [00:49:52] Speaker A: Yeah. Kenny, you got any other game questions? Game related questions? [00:49:58] Speaker F: No. [00:49:58] Speaker A: Oh, you look surprised. I thought you nodded at me. I thought you had something, so. All right, Justin. Well, hey, listen, we, we could talk all night about the Browns, especially this game, because they might have a chance, but unfortunately we have like a two hour show that we gotta, we gotta throw together. So we appreciate you jumping on with us and keep an eye out for. For everything coming out on social media. And obviously, if we're in New York at any time, we want to look you guys up and try and catch a Browns game with you. [00:50:27] Speaker E: Oh, please do. First drink and wings are on me. [00:50:30] Speaker A: Absolutely. I like that. We'll drive to New York for that. Yeah. Appreciate it, Justin. [00:50:35] Speaker E: Appreciate you guys. [00:50:36] Speaker A: Thanks. [00:50:40] Speaker E: This is Justin Carney from Brooklyn, New York, representing the Brooklyn Browns. [00:50:44] Speaker F: Back. [00:50:45] Speaker E: And you are listening to the Burning River Sportscast. Go Browns. [00:50:52] Speaker A: Good time talking to Justin from the Brooklyn Brooklyn Brooklyn Browns. [00:50:55] Speaker B: You really can't talk this year. [00:50:57] Speaker A: I know. I got too much caffeine in me. I'm going a million miles a minute. [00:50:59] Speaker B: Justin was a cool cat. [00:51:01] Speaker A: That was a good interview. He's. He had a lot of nice things to say. And by nice things to say, I mean, like, not so nice things to say about the Browns. But he was. He kept it real, you know? Yeah. [00:51:10] Speaker B: What's that you got to do? [00:51:13] Speaker A: But yeah, I like to see when. [00:51:17] Speaker D: The. [00:51:17] Speaker A: The brownsbackers presidents get a little honest about the team. The only thing he wasn't honest about is the. The score this week, 24 to 10, is as optimistic. [00:51:26] Speaker B: Probably not happening. [00:51:27] Speaker A: Yeah. Yeah. We appreciate it, Justin. It's just not going to happen. [00:51:30] Speaker B: It sounds like there's going to be quite a party down there. I mean, if they're combining forces with all the other Browns backers in the. [00:51:34] Speaker A: Area for Browns backers unite. Brown's backers bash put a cool effect on my voice. Sure. But whoa. But anyways, let's go ahead and get into it. It's time for the Week 10 preview. All right. You know what it is this week we got Kenny. Do you know what it is time for? [00:52:07] Speaker B: Is it time for Kenny's cliff notes? [00:52:08] Speaker A: It is time for Kenny's cliff notes. [00:52:10] Speaker B: Oh, boy. [00:52:14] Speaker A: Were you sad when we didn't have Kenny's cliff notes for a week? [00:52:17] Speaker B: No, because I didn't have to write them. [00:52:19] Speaker A: What do you got for us this week? [00:52:20] Speaker B: Kenny's Cliff's Notes. Buckle up, friends. This is our Super Bowl. There's not many weeks on the schedule that you look at the opposing matchup in the say this is the one Browns should win. Forget our shitty coaching. Diminutive quarterback, struggling O line receiver. Corp receiver core. That looks more like a corpse. [00:52:38] Speaker F: I know. [00:52:38] Speaker B: I said corpse. Ronnie Red. He's got super wet. But. But hey, on paper, bringing it back. [00:52:44] Speaker A: To the top of the show. I like that. [00:52:45] Speaker B: On paper, this is a game the Browns should win or at least have a chance in first year head coach Aaron Glenn is off to a disastrous start in New York. What else is new? They're the jets and they're still trash. One in seven narrowly escaping the ranks of the 04 in a shootout with the Bengals. When Aaron Glenn took over the jets job, he announced to the world in his first press conference, we are the freaking New York Jets. We are built for this shit and shit they are the offenses run by Tanner Ing Strand and veteran Steve Wilkes. Man's the defense. Former players of the bound in this staff, NFL ers all over the place, the likes of Dre Bly, Aaron Curry, Sean Jefferson and former Brown Steve Hyden. [00:53:26] Speaker A: Nice. [00:53:27] Speaker B: Aaron Glenn is yet to name a starting quarterback for this week, but indications are it will likely be Justin Fields, albeit on a short leash to veteran backup to Rod Taylor was a bold strategy, Cotton. [00:53:37] Speaker A: Let's see if it pays off for him. [00:53:38] Speaker B: Keep them guessing I don't know that there's much difference between the two quarterbacks. One's older and one's younger, but they play the same type of game. This offense has firepower and one of the best young wideouts in the league, Garrett Wilson, veteran Josh Reynolds and Alan Zard are also in the mix. Breeze hall is a productive young back who's always threatening to take one to the house. The Jets O line is surprisingly good from a talent perspective. We're ranked nine coming into the league to start the season, however currently sit in the low 20s. This defense certainly has underperformed, ranking 28th in points and 22nd in yards allowed. Quinn and Williams is as good as advertised and Jermaine Johnson is a solid edge and former Cleveland Browns Juwan Cleveland Browns Cleveland Brown Juwan Briggs finds his way into the up front from time to time. Sauce Gardner is a top young corner and has been wearing a cue collar this year to protect that dome piece. But frankly, if the Browns were going to have an offensive explosion at any point this year, this is the week to do it. Unfortunately, our quarterback is 5 foot 7 is afraid to throw the ball. Look for plenty of kicks this week from both sides in a battle of badness. Veteran Nick Folk is the kicker for the jets and Austin McNamara, who is not technically a rookie, but he is in his first year of punting after signing with the jets as an undrafted free agent in 2024. Who knows, maybe it'll tsunami this weekend and the Browns will have a chance. Go Browns just get more and more. [00:54:59] Speaker A: Depressing every time you do them. [00:55:01] Speaker B: We're getting close to Cliff's notes just don't matter because the matchups don't matter. Nothing matters. This team is trash, but we're not there yet. But we're close. [00:55:12] Speaker A: And you kind of stole my thunder a little bit, but you're thunder. [00:55:16] Speaker B: I always deal with thunder with every. [00:55:18] Speaker A: Edition of Kenny's Cliff Notes, new edition of Ronnie Jams. Matchups that matter. All right, so I got two matchups for you. They're the ones that matter. [00:55:39] Speaker B: Nice. [00:55:41] Speaker A: Number one here, Bree hall versus the Browns linebackers. Obviously, Carson Schwezinger is out for a while, and so Diabodi, Bush and Baker are all going to have to pick up the slack. They're going against the number two rushing attack in the NFL breeze. Hall is pretty good, so not bad. They're going to have to stop him if they can't. Browns are going to lose by a lot, so we'll see what happens there. And then the other matchup to matter is Miles Garrett versus Jets quarterback. I just say jets quarterbacks. You already said it. Nobody knows who the jets quarterback is right now. It's either going to be Justin Fields or to Rod Taylor. But Miles Gary had five sacks last time he stepped on the field. I said at the beginning of the year that Miles Garrett was going to get the sack record this year, so I'm going to stick with that. I think Miles Garrett goes off. [00:56:26] Speaker B: He gets five every week. He's going to have like 40. [00:56:29] Speaker A: He'll have a lot, I think. I think it might be more than 40, but he'll have a lot. I mean, the 40 between now and the end of the year, I'll give you. But yeah. So in summary here, the jets coming off their buy right before the buy, they got their first win against Cincinnati. They're 1 and 7. The defense, overall, they're number 18 in the NFL. The passing defense is number 12. The rushing defense is number 25 on offense. Overall, number 24. And this one's wild. They're absolute. They're. They're dead last in passing game, but they're number two in the rushing attack. So that equates to apparently number 24 somehow in the NFL. But nice. Then the Browns coming off their buy as well. Terrible loss to the Patriots. Before the buy, we got a 2 and 6, 6 record. Browns are also a really bad football team. Kevin Stefanik is still the coach. Defensively, the Browns are stout. Number three overall in the NFL, number nine against the run, number five against the pass. Offensively, still not good. Number 31. That's almost dead last. We're almost there, guys. Number 31 overall, that's number 29 in the running game and number 30 in the passing game. And then do the Browns have a chance in this one? You know, I. There's got to be some way you can win this game. Game, right. The jets are 1 and 7, for God's sake. So to tell us what that way or key to victory is, let's bring in the big Bone man because it's time for Bone Man's skeleton key to victory. What do you got for us today, Bone? [00:58:03] Speaker D: All right. None of my keys seem to work. [00:58:06] Speaker A: You know, last time you said we needed four sacks and we got six and we lost. Lost by 30. [00:58:10] Speaker F: That's. [00:58:10] Speaker D: That's my point. Turnover battle. We could win it. We still lose the one week. I actually did. I think I said we need like 100 yard rusher and. And Quinshawn got us 100 yards and we won in the. In the rainbow. [00:58:25] Speaker A: So you're going with that again? [00:58:26] Speaker D: No, no, I'm going somewhere new. I'm going somewhere new. I'm going to our wide receivers. All right. Oh, okay. I just. [00:58:31] Speaker A: It's probably a good place to go because they typically catch for like a total of 47 yards. [00:58:35] Speaker D: Well, I looked back at Jerry Judy last and I remember him being decent. You know, he was pretty good last year. He had like 1200 yards, quite a few reception, but he had Jameis Winston throwing the ball downfield to him, so. Yeah. So last eight games last year, he had 57 receptions for 811 yards and three touchdowns. He had 108 yard game, a 235 yard game, 142 yard game. This year he has 22 receptions, 257 yards, no touchdowns. So I want to see Jerry Judy get involved downfield, which. This is the key to victory. I know it's not going to happen. We need a little coconut to throw. [00:59:11] Speaker A: Him the ball, but little lava lamp out there. [00:59:14] Speaker D: Jerry Judy Over 100, which means Dylan Gabriel's throwing the ball downfield, maybe not just to Judy, but he's getting everybody involved. And we have a passing game and I think that's the only way we win. [00:59:27] Speaker A: I think to receivers in that New England game, he had like a total of legitimately like 67 passing yards or something like that. Like it was. [00:59:34] Speaker B: So you're telling me the skeleton key to victory isn't to throw the ball to Harold Fannin Jr. 14 times behind the line of scrimmage? [00:59:41] Speaker D: No. [00:59:43] Speaker A: Fair. Fair. I like this because if this happens, we should win it's. Not going to happen though. [00:59:51] Speaker B: I would like to win. [00:59:52] Speaker A: Yeah, I would like to win too. Speaking of winning, Kenny, what's the betting info for this week? [00:59:58] Speaker B: Jets minus one and a half even. [01:00:01] Speaker A: Even Vegas likes the jets to win this one over. [01:00:05] Speaker B: Under 36 and a half. [01:00:07] Speaker A: I don't even know that they can get there. But you know, who am I? [01:00:10] Speaker F: Nobody. [01:00:10] Speaker A: When we get there, we need players to watch. Bone, we'll start with you. Who's your player to watch? [01:00:17] Speaker D: Well, shoot, I guess I'm sticking with Jerry Judy. [01:00:20] Speaker A: You kind of have to after you said all that. [01:00:22] Speaker D: Let's get. Don't drop the ball and let's get the ball to him because don't drop the ball. [01:00:27] Speaker A: You know, you, you focused on Jerry Judy for the skeleton key to victory. The one thing that had happened all year long as we haven't thrown the ball downfield and Jerry Judy hasn't caught anything. So if you could do both of those. [01:00:37] Speaker D: Yes. That's why I think that is the key to victory. [01:00:41] Speaker A: I like where you're going here. My player to watch is going to be quin Sean Judkins. He is healthy. He's back at practice, back from that shoulder injury. So hopefully he's able to get 100 yards rushing as you mentioned but wasn't the skeleton key but hopefully he can do it. And I just, you know, he's my player to watch because on the other side of the field you got Breece hall and you got a young guy, a young running back on our side. That's like I was want to keep up with him. I want to show what I can do against one of the league's best. So just interesting matchup for me. Kenny, who's your player to watch? [01:01:10] Speaker B: Well, I'm still on Shador watch but notwithstanding since Kevin refuses to play him algo Miles Garrett, he's about the only thing worth watching at this point on this team and hell, maybe he can rack up another five sacks. He's well rested. Maybe he can do it again. [01:01:25] Speaker A: I hope so. All right guys, for just a little bit more analysis on this week's game and where the Browns go from here coming out of the bye, please help me welcome our defensive correspondent, best friend of the show and resident Kenny thunder ass kicker big John Hughes. [01:01:41] Speaker B: Big John. [01:01:45] Speaker F: Come on guys. How we doing today? Good. [01:01:47] Speaker A: How are you? [01:01:49] Speaker F: Doing all right. Doing all right. Can't complain. [01:01:51] Speaker A: Didn't have to watch the Browns lose on Sunday so you know, yeah, we. [01:01:54] Speaker F: We got, we got to miss a week. This was always the Week that between fans and players, will look forward to break from whatever's going on during the season. [01:02:03] Speaker A: So I'm just glad you guys have the same mentality as us. Like, let's just get away from it. [01:02:07] Speaker B: John, how did you handle your bye weeks as a player? Did you always go home on a bye week or was it just like getting treatment and getting things done? Like, what was a bye week like as a player? [01:02:16] Speaker F: Yeah, it really just depended on how the season was going, I guess, for me at that time. So, like, if I was hurt or had any injuries that were lingering, I'd stay back and get treatment, but if not, I'd probably go home and spend some time with my, my, my grandma, my mom back home. [01:02:31] Speaker A: Nice. Nice. And so coming out of the buy, obviously the Browns, they have the jets this week, another really bad team at nine games left. Where do they go from here? [01:02:43] Speaker F: Well, hopefully we go up from here. Right. It's one of those things where you just gotta focus on getting better. This, with this record, this point in the season, season, it's just all about getting better at this point. Right. You know, developing the, the players, the, the younger players and, and really, just like I said, getting better. We have a lot of different things to look at, you know, between the offense and the defense. So really I feel like, you know, these guys are, are playing for, in a sense, playing for next year. Right. And hate to say that so early, but I just remember as a player when our records were, you know, around this, this point, at this point, a point the of season, you know, we're thinking about job security. Right. You know, coaches and players the same. So it's, you know, everybody just kind of tightening up and trying to control what you can control and making the best of the rest of the season. [01:03:29] Speaker A: Absolutely. And you kind of talk about playing for next year and those types of things. The trade deadline is this week. Do you see any of the Browns being moved? [01:03:40] Speaker F: I would be surprised if we didn't make any moves. I have no idea or no idea, you know, anything of what could happen, but I'd be surprised if we didn't see another trade or two before the deadline. [01:03:52] Speaker A: John knows something. We'll talk off the air, Sean. And then also, you know, Flacco was here to start the season. Right. And, and now he's obviously in Cincinnati. And so just I wanted to touch on this. The first four games of the season when Flacco was playing for the Cleveland Brad Browns, he had 815 yards, two touchdowns and six interceptions. Since then, four games with the Bengals this year, 1254 yards, 11 touchdowns and two interceptions. What's the difference? Like, what is it, Is it specifically the offense he's running? What is the big difference between Flacco here and Flacker Flacco there? [01:04:33] Speaker F: Yeah, I'll say a lot of different things to mix of different things. Probably between play calling and just having more weapons, having more firepower in Cincinnati with Higgins and Chase being able to air the ball out, you know, probably more comfortable in the backfield. [01:04:49] Speaker A: So, yeah, the interesting thing is the exact same record in four games with both teams. So I think to your point, John, that speaks to just different situations and the fact that play calling may have been bad here and so the offense wasn't as good, but down there, the offense is humming. They have the worst defense alive, though. [01:05:08] Speaker B: So their running game's not that great. [01:05:09] Speaker A: Yeah, so. Right. And in that you mentioned play calling. So Kevin Stefanski gave up play calling duties this week. Do you have any thoughts on that? You think that's a panic move? You think he's worried about his job and wants to kind of blame somebody else when he inevitably loses it? What are your thoughts here? [01:05:26] Speaker F: I mean, me personally, I was kind of surprised that he started the year off as the play caller. Seeing his last year he gave up play call calling. So, yeah, just kind of, kind of, kind of wondering what happened with that. But not, not surprised that we're, we're getting to this point after, you know, what we've seen. The beginning of the year. [01:05:46] Speaker A: Yeah, I mean, you kind of hit it right on the head. Is, is. I think everybody was surprised that he took back play calling after he had given it up last year. I mean, I didn't see that one coming. [01:05:56] Speaker B: I was surprised every week that he kept calling plays. [01:05:58] Speaker A: Yeah. So. And then, you know, kind of still staying with the offense here. I know you're our defensive correspondent, but we don't like to ask you any questions about the defense. Our defense is pretty good. Miles Garrett is playing out of his mind, so there's really no questions there. [01:06:13] Speaker B: I have a defensive question. [01:06:14] Speaker A: Go ahead. Well, like, before we get there, you could save that for last. Okay, last offensive question for you. Are you personally ready to see Shador Sanders? [01:06:24] Speaker F: Yeah, I mean, personally, I am. Just, you know, from what we've seen from Gabriel and the season that we're in. In. Right. It's not like we're competing at this point for, for too much. So it's just that, you know, kind of just see what you Have. Right. Like I said in the beginning, you know, seeing what the younger guys have and kind of, you know, looking towards next year in a sense. But, you know, between what we saw in the preseason from Shador and what we've seen from, you know, Gabriel thus far, you know, I. I feel like, you know, it's almost time to, you know, kind of see what Shador's got to offer. Offer. [01:06:56] Speaker A: Yeah, we. I know we've been saying you kind of like, at this point, to us, it makes sense. You go like four games here, wish it, or. And then whoever you like better between the two of them, let them finish out the season to see if they're your quarterback going forward. [01:07:09] Speaker F: Yeah, that's not a bad idea at all. I mean, I've actually kind of had an experience like that in Cincinnati when I was in college. It was between Zach Kaleras and Chaz Anderson. I don't know know if you've heard of those two names before. Zach's actually killing it right now in. In Canada, but they basically kind of did that kind of deal. They. They battled out a game each, and then the winner pretty. Pretty much took. Took the rest of the season. [01:07:34] Speaker A: Yeah. What was your defensive question? [01:07:36] Speaker B: Yeah, I have a defensive question for our defensive correspondent. John. How many games in. In your playing experience, did you have a guy on your team go off for five sacks and you lose? And not just lose, you get one blown out by 30. [01:07:51] Speaker F: Never happened to me and, and never happened to the defense I was on. But I will say there was a game that I'll never forget, and it was against Pittsburgh. [01:08:02] Speaker A: We. [01:08:03] Speaker F: I think we won by three. You can look it up, too. I think we might have won by two or three. Like, we. We barely won the game, and we had about seven turnovers on defense and, And. And a defensive touchdown. So it was just like. It's. It's hard. Hard. It's hard as a defense when you're relying on the. The other side of the ball to get the job done. They're not. But then we lose collectively, you know what I mean? So it's. It's hard to. I mean, I. Kudos to Miles for, you know, being in the media and, And, And. And talking like he does, because it's. It's. It's hard to, you know, between the offense and then watching how good our defense can be at times. Yeah, it's. It's got to be difficult. [01:08:41] Speaker A: Yeah. And, I mean, he's. He's actually caught a lot of flack for speaking his mind. In, in the media these last few days into the bi week and everything. And I'm just like, it's about time. Like, like speak up, like speak it into existence with this front office, with this organization. Like, they've never done anything to help you, like, make it happen. You just signed the contract of a lifetime. Like, now's your chance to say this is. We got to make some moves, right? [01:09:09] Speaker F: Yeah, no, most definitely. I mean, and obviously, you know, it's on every defensive player's mind and it's not every single person on offense. Right. It's. And maybe it's not even the offense itself. Maybe it's the play calling, the scheme. Right. But whatever it is, it's. It, it requires the defense to be up on the field longer and it's, it's, it's harder on the defense in general. [01:09:29] Speaker A: Yeah, one, one last question here. We have some people, we have a specific person. We've, we've got a troll on our Facebook page that likes to talk bad about Miles Garrett and just how terrible he is. 1. An awful take. Yeah, see, I saw your face. It's an awful take in general. But I mean, can you just speak to, you've been at that, you've played at that level. How impressive is Miles Garrett as a player and as a leader? Even though he historically he's not as vocal, but to us he kind of more leads by example. So can you just kind of speak to what level Miles is on compared to everybody everybody else? [01:10:10] Speaker F: Yeah. And honestly, man, like when you said that leads by example, everybody leads in their own way. Right? You have the more vocal players and some people will just show you how it's done. Right. And Miles is that guy. He's a once in a generation talent. And I feel like, you know, I was actually talking to one of my friends the other day about it and I was like, man, I hope we don't waste Miles talent all the way through like we did with Joe Thomas. Right. Because you think about Joe, he spent his entire career in Cleveland and obviously made the hall of Fame. But you know what, what else does he have to show for other than Pro Bowls and Hall of Fames, you know, anything else outside of that as far as, you know, playoffs or, you know, super bowl contention. [01:10:52] Speaker A: Yeah. And we're, we're right there with you. I mean, we, I think we've probably talked about it at least three times in the last few weeks here about the Browns notoriously waiting, wasting good players in hall of Fame players careers. I mean, you talked about Joe Thomas. We'll talk about Joel Batonio. You talk about Miles Garrett, you talk about Denzel Ward. I mean, we keep going, too. And it's just. It's sad that some of these players stay here that long and never have anything to show for it. I mean, it feels bad as a fan, because I want them to experience winning, right? [01:11:29] Speaker F: It's like you want them to experience it in Cleveland, but at the same time, you understand, right? [01:11:34] Speaker A: Yeah. I'd rather they get out of here and get some. Get some playoff wins than stay here and never experience that at all. [01:11:41] Speaker F: You know, it's funny, man. When I, When I left Cleveland and I went to. I was in New Orleans, right? And it was one of the best teams I've played for. You know, Drew Brees, Mark Ingram in the backfield, Alvin Kramer. I mean, we had guys, it was stacked on both sides of the. [01:11:55] Speaker A: The ball. [01:11:56] Speaker F: And I. And I realized, and I wish I could take what I learned from there and bring and come back to Cleveland then, right? Because it was. It was really a different mindset, different mentality, right? We wanted to win so bad in Cleveland, right? Like every year, we just wanted to win. Like, you know, we'd do anything to win, right? But in New Orleans, it was just a different mentality. Like, we did everything we needed to do during the week. Now we expect to win on Sunday. And it was just more of an expectation, right, Instead of a want and a, you really want this, this, right? It was just like, no, we. We did what we need to do during the week. Let's figure it out and get it done now. [01:12:31] Speaker A: Absolutely. Any ideas how to change that in Cleveland? [01:12:34] Speaker F: Man, you're asking a million dollar question. [01:12:36] Speaker D: I. [01:12:37] Speaker F: It's. Honestly, it's really starts up top, but it's just like you don't know exactly what pieces need to be moved to. To. To make the right choices, I guess. And I'm sure, you know, upper management has done, you know, a lot of different things and tried to figure out, you know, uncover a lot of stones to figure out what's going on. But I mean, at the end of the day, man, we just haven't been getting it done for a long time in Cleveland. [01:13:07] Speaker B: Feels like that Thomas Edison quote, like he only, he only had to try a thousand times to create a light bulb, and you only need one time to get it right. But it feels like the Browns have tried all the other thousand variations of how to create a winning football ball team and still haven't figured out how to do it. John, real Quick, just while we're talking about the New Orleans Sean Payton. I read some time ago about Sean Payton, like the, the detail that was given to guys on like day one, just about how to get in and out of the huddle where everybody's standing, quarterback's the only guy talking, like just those small attention to detail items. Like, is that something that feels like didn't carry over or wasn't, you know, another organization like that, that minuscule level of granular, like, hey, everybody's got to be on the same page and it starts with doing everything we do right? Even from the smallest things. [01:13:55] Speaker F: Yeah, yeah. I think attention to detail is always a lot different. When I was in New Orleans with guys like, you know, Coach Payton, man, they expect a certain level of perfection, right? So even on the, you know, the walk through days, you know, we practice pretty much every scenario you can think of. And it helps when you got guys like Drew brewing series that are masterminds in their own right as far as, you know, putting together like different plays that we need to run against different, you know, scenarios that might happen. I mean, I remember like 10 or 12 different scenarios that I never really have been through or heard of that we ran in practice and we actually saw a couple of them during the, during the year, which was even more crazy. Right? But just being prepared for the unexpected, you don't know. I'm not saying we didn't prepare in Cleveland at all, but it was just the level of detail. Like you were saying before. [01:14:47] Speaker A: Not saying you didn't prepare, just saying you didn't prepare. Like New Orleans, like the winners. Yeah, we get it. It's okay. Well, listen, with that, since we have you on on with us already, John, let's go ahead and jump into King of the North. [01:15:01] Speaker F: Let's do it. [01:15:15] Speaker A: All right. So in case anyone doesn't know by now, this is our year long AFC north pick them competition at the end of the season. Whoever comes in last place gets punished. In the preseason two years ago, Kenny had a gross of eggs thrown at him by fans in the muni lot before a game in the preseason last year, Kenny had his hair and beard shaved clean off a few weeks ago for losing. This past season, Kenny donned the pads for the first time in almost 20 years and got hit three times by our. By our guy right here, Big John. [01:15:40] Speaker B: Kenny. [01:15:40] Speaker A: How'd that feel? I see the neck brace is finally off. Are you okay? [01:15:44] Speaker B: I'm mostly healed at this point. [01:15:48] Speaker F: Not gonna lie. Kenny, I was worried about you at dinner, man. [01:15:53] Speaker B: I Was in rough shape. [01:15:54] Speaker A: Yeah. In case any. Yeah, just some inside information. We all went. We all went out to dinner after this took place, and Kenny literally looked like he wasn't gonna make it through dinner. [01:16:04] Speaker B: Yeah, I was. I was afraid I wasn't gonna be able to make it home in the car. Honestly. [01:16:08] Speaker F: No. [01:16:09] Speaker A: We just packed him in and sent him home. We didn't care. [01:16:11] Speaker F: If it means anything that I had a great time back on, get him clapping a little bit. It's been a while. [01:16:18] Speaker B: So, look, this is your. Your annual PSA to do well in school and try real hard, because if you don't, you end up a clown for the enjoyment of others doing this and getting hit by NFL players for fun. [01:16:30] Speaker F: So, yeah, the high school is a good time watching it, too. That's a good point. [01:16:34] Speaker B: Oh, they had a blast. [01:16:35] Speaker A: They were. They were all chirping at you. They thought they could take you. [01:16:38] Speaker F: Oh, man. [01:16:40] Speaker A: And then this year. This year, the loser will be getting a Brazilian wax. Kenny, you excited? [01:16:45] Speaker B: Tush? [01:16:47] Speaker A: So let's go ahead and get into things. First things first, I want to remind everyone that Bone is the reigning defending King of the North. Second and the last time for this reminder, because if you don't know by now, then you're clearly not paying attention anyways. But John Hughes has joined King of the north this year. [01:17:03] Speaker B: John. [01:17:04] Speaker D: Oh, yeah. [01:17:05] Speaker A: How you liking it so far? [01:17:07] Speaker F: I'm loving it, man. I'm. Every week makes it more and more interesting, you know, with these picks, man, so hopefully I can, you know, end it the right way. [01:17:15] Speaker A: I don't. I don't want to jinx you, but you got a little bit of a cushion against Kenny right now, so I was. [01:17:21] Speaker F: I was waiting to hear the stats, man. [01:17:23] Speaker A: Yeah, it's between you and him right now, but he's. He's a few games back. [01:17:27] Speaker B: You know what they say about cushion, John. That's just more cushion for the pushing. [01:17:31] Speaker A: I don't know how that applies here. [01:17:32] Speaker B: And I'm coming. [01:17:37] Speaker A: And then finally, finally, Kenny, as always, is a clown. So let's remind everyone of the current records after week nine. Bone, you're on top at 16 and 13. I am right behind you at 15 and 14. John, you're behind me by one game at 14 and 15 and almost back to 500. Okay. And, Kenny, you're at 11, 8, and 18. How. How does that feel? [01:18:01] Speaker B: Long season. It ain't over. [01:18:04] Speaker A: So with that, let's go ahead and get into this week's games. First game up, the Ravens travel to Minnesota we'll start with Bone. Bone, who you got? [01:18:15] Speaker D: Ah, gosh. All these games are. Are rough and they're all road games. [01:18:18] Speaker A: This. This game is. This week is tough. [01:18:21] Speaker D: Minnesota looked good this week with McCarthy back, but so did Lamar. So I got to go Ravens on the road. I just think they're going to end up making the playoffs and they just need to win all these games. So. [01:18:35] Speaker A: Kenny. [01:18:35] Speaker D: Ravens. [01:18:36] Speaker A: Kenny. [01:18:37] Speaker B: Yeah, the. Lamar looked good coming back from the injury. Four touchdowns. I think this week was very efficient. And just watching a week back, just watching the game, what I was looking for was, was he laboring to move around in the pocket, and I didn't see that. I saw, you know, a fresh, strong, able to kind of break goals and get away from guys. And I think as long as he stays healthy the rest of the way, they're a force. So I'll go Ravens this week. [01:19:03] Speaker A: Yep. And so for me, all this, all the reasons that you guys said, plus the fact that J.J. mcCarthy played at Michigan and we don't give a damn for the whole state of Michigan, and I just think that not just J.J. mcCarthy, but Minnesota in general are pretenders. So I'm going to go Ravens in this. I think they win pretty. Pretty handily, actually. [01:19:23] Speaker F: John, who you got right behind you guys? I got the Ravens. And really, you know, it's. It's obviously with Lamar back, he has that element that's hard to, you know, hard to beat with the pass game. But then you have to worry about him running. But then he also, when you're worried about the. The pass with. With Lamar, you opens up the run game more for Henry, which, you know, we saw that struggled while Lamar was out just because they're able to hone in on him. Restaurants rushing. So I got the Ravens on this one as well. [01:19:52] Speaker A: Nice. So no changes there. Kenny, it's not good for you. Cincinnati's on. By this week, Pittsburgh travels to LA to take on the Chargers. Kenny, who you got? [01:20:03] Speaker B: Man, this is a tough one. The Steelers are like, hot and cold. I can't figure out if they're. [01:20:08] Speaker A: They're like the league between them and the Colts. They're like the league's biggest enigma this year. They're just like, what are they? [01:20:14] Speaker B: But that Chargers offense is pretty good. And they're in la. La. [01:20:18] Speaker A: Right in la. [01:20:19] Speaker B: I'll go west coast, the home team. [01:20:24] Speaker A: Man, I was back and forth on this one, too. Yeah, I can't figure out Pittsburgh because I kind of, like I said with J.J. mcCarthy in Minnesota, I think Pittsburgh are Pretenders. I don't think they're that good of a team at all. Defense is not good. They played well this week against the Colts. But is that Danny Dimes just coming back down to earth and saying I'm not that good of a quarterback? I don't know. It's really tough to pick up for them. I'm going to go LA just because again, they're traveling out west. Not that you know, other teams have the same problems that the Browns have going out west, but they are making a big trip out west. So I'll go Chargers in this one. John, who you got? [01:21:05] Speaker F: So I was going to go charges with this one and for simple fact that I feel like they're not evenly matched but this is a really close one and I like to always go with the. Not always, but I like to go with. With the home. Home team in this aspect. Especially when you're going coast to coast almost. So it's. I got the charge with this one. I think Herbert figures it out, man. And I've been liking watching him swing the ball around the season, so. [01:21:29] Speaker A: Absolutely. [01:21:30] Speaker B: His girl is cute too. [01:21:31] Speaker A: I was gonna. You beat me to it. I was gonna say Kenny probably really enjoys seeing him hang out with his girlfriend everywhere. But you can't. You can't beat Kenny to those types of things. Bone, who you got? [01:21:43] Speaker D: This one I will not be going against. [01:21:45] Speaker A: Speaking of Kenny looking at Justin Herbert's girlfriend. Bone, who you got in this one? [01:21:53] Speaker D: I'm also going Chargers. Yeah, west coast trip Chargers are good and it's home team and Harbaugh is a good coach. I don't like him, but he's a good coach. [01:22:03] Speaker A: Yeah, I agree with that. And then finally, the reason we're all here, the Browns are traveling to New York to take on the jets in the literal toilet bowl is like the battle of the league's worst. I'm going to go first here, guys. Listen, we record on Mondays and as of right now, Shador Sanders didn't practice today and Dylan Gabriel is still starting. He has the most turnover worthy plays of any quarterback in the league, including some backups. He doesn't throw the ball downfield field. Both teams are really bad. But he's five foot nine. He's five foot nine on a good day. You got our list of nicknames. We don't need to go through them. And. And the jets have the number two rushing attack in the entire league. So I'm gonna go with the jets in this one and I'm gonna go jets 20 to 13. John, who you got. [01:23:06] Speaker F: Man? This is, this is a, this is a tough one, man. And I, and I just say that because you just said evenly matched and. [01:23:12] Speaker A: And you always go with the home team. So you're going with the jets, right? [01:23:16] Speaker F: Yeah, that. That's what I was thinking about originally, man. And honestly, you know, feels looked. Looked decent, man. Was it against who was it. Was it Bengals? [01:23:27] Speaker A: Cincinnati? Yeah. [01:23:28] Speaker F: Yeah. [01:23:28] Speaker A: Just to throw a wrench into what you're saying right here, John, they. The coach says he doesn't know who they're going with. Justin Fields or, Or to Rod Taylor. [01:23:37] Speaker F: Okay, let's see. [01:23:42] Speaker A: I'm just confusing John on the fly. [01:23:44] Speaker B: Both of those guys are better than Dylan Gabriel, though. [01:23:46] Speaker A: That's true. Yeah. That's fair. Fair assessment. [01:23:48] Speaker F: It is. [01:23:48] Speaker A: It is. [01:23:50] Speaker F: Yeah. I'm gonna, I'm gonna have to go with jets. And. And I just say it because I, I like Ty Rod anyway. I've been a Tyrod fan for, for a minute, actually. That was my first. First sack was against Tyrod Taylor as a freshman at Cincinnati in college. [01:24:05] Speaker D: That's cool. [01:24:06] Speaker F: So I'll follow Tyrod his whole career, man. Good player. But in general, I feel like the jets are on the high horse now, you know, after getting that, that first one out the way. So I think it'll be a good game, but I feel like the jets will pull it off at home and I'll go with the score. We'll keep it tight. 17, 17, 17, 13 jets. [01:24:28] Speaker A: 1713 jets. Nice. Yeah, the jets got their first win. They're like, let's just roll through the. The AFC north now. Like, we'll just, we'll beat all of them. Bone, who you got in this one? [01:24:43] Speaker D: I also gotta go with the Jets. Sorry. [01:24:48] Speaker F: All the way through, guys. [01:24:51] Speaker A: I don't know. This is a pretty boring segment. Good job, guys. Kenny's going Browns. I see him smiling over be. [01:24:58] Speaker D: They're the home team. I know they're not great, but. [01:25:02] Speaker A: I. [01:25:02] Speaker D: Think our defense is going to play them tough. But as you said, they got the number two rushing. [01:25:05] Speaker A: You're gonna go with something like 14, 13. [01:25:07] Speaker D: I don't. Let's go 15 to 10. [01:25:10] Speaker A: All right. It's not scored, but I like it. Kenny, who you got? [01:25:14] Speaker F: Hey, Kenny, before you go, just know this is how this, this, this could be the game that puts you on top as far as gets gets you another game in, man. Like we all win Jets. You got an opportunity here, Kenny. Get an opportunity, man. [01:25:27] Speaker A: It's true. The, the tiebreaker. If you get back to tying with John is Brown's record. [01:25:36] Speaker B: For the record, I wrote down Jets. [01:25:40] Speaker A: You did. I heard him before the show. We're talking about it. [01:25:43] Speaker B: I, I have zero faith that the Browns win this game. [01:25:45] Speaker A: But it's, it's that time of the. [01:25:48] Speaker B: Season to play a little defense against John on because I need him to get Brazilian waxed. I'll go Browns for no reason whatsoever. They are going to lose on Sunday, but I'll go Browns. [01:26:03] Speaker A: So if the Browns lose, is this like the point of the season where you're like, I'm probably just going to lose this season. [01:26:08] Speaker B: Browns 21 20. [01:26:10] Speaker A: 21 20. [01:26:11] Speaker B: A lot of field goals in this game. [01:26:13] Speaker A: You think the Browns are going to score 20 points? [01:26:16] Speaker B: Got a new offensive coordinator. [01:26:18] Speaker A: That's true, that's true. They still got Dylan Gabriel. [01:26:20] Speaker F: Okay. [01:26:20] Speaker B: Yeah, that's true as well. Maybe. [01:26:27] Speaker D: Who is calling plays for the Browns? Reese. [01:26:29] Speaker B: Okay, maybe Dylan will like roll his ankle. Not something super serious but like maybe Bailey zappy gets in and it's zappy hour. You know. [01:26:37] Speaker A: Do love me a little bit of zappy hour with that. That's king of the north for the week though. John, thank you so much for joining us. We wish we you could stay on all night and talk to us. Is the best part of the show is when you're on that. The Brownsbackers are pretty cool too, I guess. You know, maybe. But John, we appreciate it. Thank you so much. And we'll see you next time. [01:26:57] Speaker F: Oh yeah. Always a pleasure, guys. I appreciate you, man. Thanks. [01:27:06] Speaker B: Powered by Riverside FM. [01:27:14] Speaker A: All right with that, let me remind everybody to call the burger sportscast. We should be on right around 9:30 and next Thursday we'll be back with our week 11 preview episode. Another Browns backers interview. [01:28:00] Speaker A: The Ravens. I didn't write that in there for you, but it'll be against the Ravens. [01:28:03] Speaker B: We'll start still play the Ravens regardless. [01:28:04] Speaker A: Yeah. [01:28:05] Speaker B: Another Brownsbackers interview. North Royalton Brownsbackers will join us next week. [01:28:09] Speaker A: Yep, that's a makeup one. You know what that takes us to, Kenny? [01:28:55] Speaker B: Facts for. [01:29:10] Speaker A: What do you got for facts for days? You bring us whale facts yet? [01:29:13] Speaker B: No. [01:29:14] Speaker A: What the hell would you. [01:29:15] Speaker B: I have facts about jets. [01:29:19] Speaker A: Jets. These actually could be good. Come on, give us some jet facts. [01:29:23] Speaker B: The world's longest non stop flight as of 2024, the longest nonstop commercial flight is operated by Singapore Airlines. From Singapore to New York, covering a distance of 9,500 miles, lasting nearly 19 hours, this ultra long haul flight pushes the limits of both aircraft endurance and passenger comfort. With special cabins designed to help mitigate the effects of such a long journey. [01:29:54] Speaker A: That's it. That's a long. Longest one. [01:29:55] Speaker B: That's the longest. [01:29:56] Speaker D: That's pretty long time. [01:29:57] Speaker B: That's the longest one. [01:29:58] Speaker A: It was pretty long time. Why'd you say it like. I mean, I guess that is pretty long time. Number two. [01:30:14] Speaker B: The oxygen masks. [01:30:15] Speaker A: Yeah, they fall down. [01:30:16] Speaker B: Fall down. The oxygen masks that drop down in case of cabin pressure loss loss only provide 12 to 15 minutes of oxygen. [01:30:25] Speaker A: Dang. [01:30:26] Speaker B: This might seem short, but it's enough time for pilots to descend to a lower breathable altitude where the air pressure is safe for passengers or crash the plane and everyone dies in a fiery ball of death. [01:30:37] Speaker A: Oh, dang. I was going to say it makes sense. I guess that you don't need it for that long. If the plane. If something's wrong with the plane, like, you're. It's not going to stay up there very long. No, I think that they. They probably figured that out somewhere along nine. They're like, if there's a major problem, we ain't going to be in the air long. [01:30:54] Speaker B: No, no, we're going to get out of there. [01:30:57] Speaker A: That's fair. That's fair. I always think. I always, like, when they're like, if it doesn't inflate, that's okay. I'd be like, the mine's not inflating. Like, I'd be pretty scared. [01:31:06] Speaker B: Yeah, me too. [01:31:07] Speaker A: But apparently the oxygen is still flowing. [01:31:09] Speaker B: Yeah. Yeah. And apparently it's not even like an oxygen canister that, like feeds air into it. It's just like a chemical reaction that creates oxygen. [01:31:16] Speaker A: Oh, that's good. Let's suck that ass. [01:31:19] Speaker B: I mean, look, if the cabin basks come down, bad stuff's about to happen. [01:31:23] Speaker A: Put it on your face. Make sure you put yours on first before helping others. [01:31:27] Speaker B: Smart flight attendant Ronnie, for the save. Number three. Have you ever noticed the small hole at the bottom of airplane windows? [01:31:37] Speaker A: Yes. [01:31:38] Speaker B: That is called a breather hole. [01:31:40] Speaker A: Glad we have those. [01:31:41] Speaker B: Very specific. And it's there to regulate air pressure between the inner and outer window panes. This tin tiny hole ensures the cabin pressure is applied to the outer pane, which is stronger and designed to handle the load, helping to prevent the window from shattering. [01:31:57] Speaker A: Well, it's a good thing we have a breather hole. [01:31:59] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah. Before that, plane windows were just cracking. [01:32:02] Speaker A: Under pressure and turns As I was having another window blew out, some engineer. [01:32:07] Speaker B: Somewhere sitting on a pile of cash because he was like, you know, right here. [01:32:11] Speaker A: Engineer is not very creative. It comes to naming things either. Let's put a breather hole in there. [01:32:15] Speaker B: Put a breather hole. And that, my friends, is packs for days. All about jets. [01:32:21] Speaker A: You know, f. Jets. Because the last time I was in an airport, I had a layover that got delayed and I ended up in the airport for like 14 hours. [01:32:29] Speaker B: It was stupid, but. Did your mask come down? [01:32:31] Speaker A: No. [01:32:31] Speaker B: Plus number one, did you have a breather hole? [01:32:33] Speaker A: Yes. [01:32:34] Speaker B: Plus number two, did you board your flight 19 hours? [01:32:36] Speaker A: No. [01:32:37] Speaker B: Plus number three, you win facts for days, you win nothing. [01:32:40] Speaker A: Well, that's good. [01:32:43] Speaker F: That's it. [01:32:44] Speaker B: That's all. That's all I got the whole show. [01:32:47] Speaker A: Do you like planes? [01:32:47] Speaker D: That was interesting. I was just thinking about if I was on a flight for 19 hours, I would definitely Be sleeping as much as I possibly could. [01:32:55] Speaker A: I would sleep a lot. [01:32:56] Speaker D: Yeah. Which reminds me, I'm gonna go to sleep right now. [01:32:59] Speaker A: Okay. [01:33:00] Speaker C: All right. [01:33:00] Speaker D: So, yeah, bon appetit. [01:33:02] Speaker B: I'll just be a part of the problem. Be the whole damn problem. [01:33:06] Speaker A: And only you can prevent river fires. [01:33:10] Speaker B: Burning River Sports K. Burning River. [01:33:13] Speaker A: I know we've already done this one, but it's fitting for today. We're leaving on a jet plane. [01:33:20] Speaker B: Don't know when I'll be back again. Leaving it on a jet plane. Don't. [01:33:32] Speaker A: Good night, Cleveland. [01:33:33] Speaker B: I was gonna go Empire State of Mind, but. Good night, Cleveland. [01:33:37] Speaker D: Good night, Akron. [01:33:38] Speaker A: Quiet on set. [01:33:40] Speaker C: I now have two loves in my life. [01:33:44] Speaker A: Big city living and a voodoo woman named Phyllis. I didn't think we'd be getting into Brad Pitt. I can't even say I didn't think. [01:33:54] Speaker B: We'D be getting into to Brad Pitt's ass. [01:33:56] Speaker A: Yeah, didn't think we'd get in there. [01:33:58] Speaker B: We talk a lot of analingus on this show. [01:34:01] Speaker A: So put your right foot in and take your right foot out. Then put your right foot in and shut the hell up. Because it's not time for the hokey Pokey. It's time for the Burning River Sports Cast Motorboat. You play the motorboat. You motorboat? Son of a. [01:34:17] Speaker B: You old seal. Are you. You know, I was thinking during that interview. [01:34:20] Speaker A: What? What were you thinking? Nothing. Cuz you don't have thoughts, cuz you're a brainless idiot. [01:34:24] Speaker B: Wow. [01:34:25] Speaker E: My name is Utrid, Son of Utrid, by the way. [01:34:28] Speaker A: I want my foreskin back. It doesn't matter what you think. [01:34:48] Speaker B: Ejaculate all over my body and my genitals. [01:34:51] Speaker D: Yes. [01:34:51] Speaker A: Oh, no. [01:34:53] Speaker B: We suck again. [01:34:54] Speaker D: You don't need fundamentals when you got heart. [01:34:57] Speaker B: And Jesus. And Jesus. [01:34:59] Speaker D: That's right. [01:35:00] Speaker A: Touchdown. [01:35:23] Speaker B: That we should send a team of oil core drillers. [01:35:25] Speaker F: Allah. [01:35:25] Speaker B: Armageddon. To Mars to have them access the newly discovered reservoirs of water traps 7 to 12 miles under the surface that when released, will cover the entirety of everything on the planet. Less than a mile high. [01:35:32] Speaker A: All I do is win, win, win, no matter what. [01:35:35] Speaker C: Erroneous. [01:35:35] Speaker A: Erroneous on both counts. Oh, Lord. I'm mean, when I. I drove an $80,000 BMW. That's my name. I think we've officially lost all of our more conservative viewers, so I don't think they want to listen any longer. [01:36:05] Speaker D: It's Mother Nature.
