[00:00:28] Speaker A: Browns players during a private meet and.
[00:00:30] Speaker B: Greet and Q and A. Go Browns.
[00:00:33] Speaker A: Visit TrueFanTravel.com today and reserve your ultimate Browns travel package.
[00:01:11] Speaker B: It's time.
[00:01:12] Speaker A: Time for the Burning River Sportscast. Imagine your car is making an odd noise. It runs just fine. You're not in danger. But it definitely isn't supposed to make that noise. So you take it into the shop. Meet your mechanics. Kev. Super handsome, like the star of a car repair sitcom. You trust him to change an air filter, but you know he's really only in it for the chicks because his fingernails are just way too cle. Andy seems like a straight shooter, has all the necessary Valvoline certifications hanging on his wall, along with a portrait of himself with the local auto union president. No reason to think he doesn't know what he's doing. And then, back in the corner, smoking the newly legalized recreational Ganj is Mr. Jim. He owns the place. You look around. It's a nice shop, plenty of resources, so clean inside you can eat off the floor. A place like this must service cars for celebrities or pro athletes. You breathe a sigh of relief and think, I'm in the right place. You don't get to the pinnacle of the auto repair world unless you're doing something right. I mean, unless you were like illegally stealing customer rebate money in droves or something. But. But this guy has a very trustworthy face under a perfectly manicured snow white haircut.
They return your keys to you, and you're psyched because it's no longer making that noise. Except now it makes no noise. In fact, it doesn't turn on at all. Hurriedly, you escape the vehicle, pop open the hood, and realize they've removed all the working parts of the car, everything it needs to run, and replaced all of it with a big old ste pile of shit.
The NFL is supposed to bring joy, happiness and fun. Not if you're a Browns fan. Each time we have even the smallest bit of fun or success, this front office reaches in with both hands like a bovine enema, digs deep down and grabs that fun and success, however little bit there may be, and they intentionally remove it and put in its place a big old steaming pile of shit.
And slowly we Die.
We'll break it all down for you next on the Burning River Sportscast.
[00:03:07] Speaker C: Was that a metaphor?
[00:03:11] Speaker B: I'll be honest with you, I don't even know what that means.
[00:03:14] Speaker A: Tyreek Hill has more babies this year than touchdowns.
Polar Express puts children in unnecessary peril.
[00:03:23] Speaker B: It does do that.
[00:03:24] Speaker A: Like hardcore. Like there's kids hanging off of trains or like falling on ice. Like what is even happening in that movie? The whole thing was like a death trap.
[00:03:34] Speaker B: I'm drawing a lot of blanks because I'll be honest with you, I'm still real shook with behind enemy lines but.
[00:03:42] Speaker A: And they are now the only team or the first team in NFL history to have three kickers make game winning kicks in one season.
And we have one kicker who can't make any field goals.
[00:03:54] Speaker B: The only thing they do consistently is give up big plays.
[00:03:58] Speaker D: I love the competitiveness, especially you know, having two of the best ends in the league in the season, same division. I mean it's, it's, it's a, it's a beautiful thing. But you know, obviously I, I'll go with Miles every day.
[00:04:13] Speaker C: Chub versus Hunt.
[00:04:14] Speaker B: Oh yeah. Got the chunk on the field again back together.
[00:04:18] Speaker A: We love chunt.
[00:04:19] Speaker B: We love ch.
It sounds so dirty every time I say it.
Do you want punched in the throat?
Is heads in a boy or a girl?
[00:04:30] Speaker A: Let's not go there.
[00:04:34] Speaker B: How does that make you feel? It makes me feel gassed up and.
[00:04:38] Speaker A: I don't like it.
[00:04:45] Speaker B: That's a nice mouth trumpet.
[00:04:46] Speaker C: You get wiener, wiener, wiener, wiener.
[00:04:50] Speaker B: That's making it into the show opening.
[00:04:53] Speaker A: Wiener, wiener.
[00:04:54] Speaker C: You never heard anybody say that?
[00:04:56] Speaker B: Nope.
[00:04:56] Speaker A: No, no.
[00:04:57] Speaker C: It might be a South park reference. Wiener, wiener, wiener, wiener, wiener, wiener.
[00:05:04] Speaker B: Let me remind everybody to call the burger Sports tax.
[00:05:09] Speaker A: Anyway, this is a big deal for us. 100th episode, big milestone. Took us a while to get here, but we're here now. We're here. We have staying power. Yeah, you're stuck listening to us.
[00:05:19] Speaker B: Yeah, we're not going anywhere unless you.
[00:05:20] Speaker A: Just turn us off.
[00:05:23] Speaker B: You hear that, Bears?
[00:05:24] Speaker A: Bears.
[00:05:25] Speaker B: Now you're putting the whole station in jeopardy.
[00:05:32] Speaker A: Welcome into the Burning Rivers for presented by the fine folks at Tappan Media. I'm Kenny Thunder, joined today by my dear friend, the ugly American version of Prince Harry. Red Hot Ronnie jams on the board today. Tickle him all over. It's funny because he's the big bone Man Bone. True or false. The US successfully landed man crews on the moon 50 years ago. And for no reason at all, we just stopped going and studying lunar science. Altogether.
[00:05:55] Speaker C: It's true.
[00:05:56] Speaker A: It's true.
[00:05:56] Speaker C: Yeah. I'm a firm believer.
[00:05:58] Speaker A: Firm believer. All right, back to red Eye.
[00:06:00] Speaker C: I just don't think anybody could keep that secret.
[00:06:03] Speaker A: Fair enough.
[00:06:03] Speaker B: You don't want to piece of all the action.
[00:06:05] Speaker A: Where can our listeners find the dopest dope they ever heard on a podcast? The number one ranked football podcast. Not a good pods. As well as the unofficial podcast of Cleveland Brownsbackers everywhere.
[00:06:13] Speaker B: The official podcast of some Cleveland Browns backers somewhere. First of all, moon landing.
I'm not as resolute as our boy over here on the board.
[00:06:25] Speaker A: Is it weird that we just stopped going?
[00:06:26] Speaker B: Yeah, that's what gets me. It's like, I'm not saying it didn't happen. I'm just saying we were like, we.
[00:06:31] Speaker A: Learned all about the moon and we needed.
[00:06:33] Speaker B: Yeah, it looks pretty fishy.
[00:06:34] Speaker A: Like, seven trips. We sent a few people there and we're good. We don't gotta go back.
[00:06:37] Speaker B: That was it. Especially when you start seeing, like, how the entertainment industry as far as, like, like, movies and stuff is cut, like, sets have come along and, I mean.
[00:06:45] Speaker A: There'S car commercials now that have more, like, accurate displays of the moon than, like, what we saw.
[00:06:50] Speaker B: Yeah. So I don't know. I'm not saying it's fake. I'm just saying I'm not. I'm not sure it's real.
But you can find our podcast wherever. Get your podcast. I'm talking Apple podcast, Spotify, Stitch, Amazon Music, Pandora, YouTube Music, iHeartRadio, Pocket, Cast Castro, good pods where we are number one ranked podcast and so many more. And don't forget to subscribe on YouTube. The only place that you can find our video podcast to check us out on Facebook, Instagram and TikTok. Our handles for all those socials at Burning Over Sportscast. And we are on X with a handle at Burning Over Pod. While you're at it, check out our merch www.thetapmedia.com backslash shop. All kinds of stuff in there. I won't go through it all again. This week. Today on the show, this is what you can look forward to. We got dog of the week division roundup around the NFL. Our hot three this week Christmas mov interview at the Brownsbackers group, the Brownsbackers of Kansas City. Kansas City, King of the North. Gassed up the Week 15 preview for the game against Chiefs. The return of our defensive correspondent John Hughes. Looking forward to that.
[00:07:47] Speaker A: Love, John.
[00:07:48] Speaker B: And oh, so much more. And guys, Christmas is coming. The goose is getting fat. Please put A penny in our own damn cap. Because after watching this team all season, we're going to need so much damn therapy that we could all use all the money we could get. So with that, let's just go ahead and get things started with the Burning river news story of the week.
[00:08:10] Speaker A: Never even heard that one before.
[00:08:12] Speaker C: You know who else walked away when they're on top? Barry Sanders.
[00:08:19] Speaker B: There you go.
[00:08:20] Speaker A: Is that your justification for the moon landing?
[00:08:22] Speaker C: Yeah, I just.
[00:08:41] Speaker B: All right.
I don't even know how I follow that up.
The new story of the week, Bone, is.
[00:08:50] Speaker C: Oh, really?
[00:08:51] Speaker A: Yeah, we landed on the moon.
[00:08:54] Speaker B: The news story of the week. This week, the New York Mets came, came in and stole Juan Soto away from the New York Yankees, signing the superstar player to a 15 year, $725 million deal. What?
[00:09:09] Speaker C: That's wild.
[00:09:11] Speaker B: What?
[00:09:11] Speaker A: Feels good to be an above average baseball player.
[00:09:14] Speaker B: Yeah.
So just to put that into perspective, guys, that number of $725 million is more than LeBron James and Tom Brady's career salary earnings combined.
Wow.
[00:09:31] Speaker A: It's pretty good.
[00:09:34] Speaker C: When did Juan Soto become like this.
[00:09:36] Speaker B: Guy when he hit like four home runs against the Guardians, just all over him in the playoffs and said, you need a home. You need a home run right now. I got you.
[00:09:42] Speaker C: Yeah, he did.
[00:09:43] Speaker B: I got you.
[00:09:44] Speaker C: He's a large feller, too.
[00:09:45] Speaker B: He's a big guy.
[00:09:47] Speaker A: He batted.288 on the season.
[00:09:50] Speaker B: That's really good in today's MLB.
[00:09:52] Speaker A: I mean, I'm still. Still, though, like 288 gets you $725 million.
[00:09:57] Speaker B: Yeah, lots of home runs in key moments.
[00:10:00] Speaker A: That's not even his highest for his career.
[00:10:03] Speaker B: Yeah, but batting average doesn't mean anything in today's mlb.
[00:10:07] Speaker A: All right, what means something?
[00:10:08] Speaker B: Slugging percentage and home runs. And they use analytics just like the NFL and every other sport does. And they say we can sacrifice batting average points if you're hitting home runs at this clip and you're slugging at this clip to drive runs in.
[00:10:22] Speaker A: So I get 41 home runs.
[00:10:24] Speaker B: Yeah, it doesn't. It doesn't. It just doesn't mean what it used to. Batting average doesn't.
[00:10:28] Speaker A: Like, I mean, but like, what's Aaron Judge's contract?
[00:10:33] Speaker B: It's pretty large. I don't know.
[00:10:35] Speaker A: Is it 750 million? No, he had 58 home runs this year.
[00:10:40] Speaker B: Yeah, but Aaron Judge was also ass in key moments. If he. If he didn't. If you don't remember that from the.
[00:10:45] Speaker C: Playoffs, Is he a few years older than one Soda?
[00:10:48] Speaker B: Juan Soto. By the end of this contract, Juan Soto will be 41 years old.
[00:10:52] Speaker C: Okay.
[00:10:53] Speaker B: So he's 26 right now.
And I. I'm willing to bet Aaron Judge is probably right around there. Maybe a little bit younger.
[00:11:00] Speaker A: Yeah, he's 26, but he's already played eight years in the majors, which is pretty incredible.
[00:11:04] Speaker B: Yeah. So.
But really, I mean, what. What is money in the. In the MLB anymore, anyways? Like, Aaron Judge.
[00:11:10] Speaker A: They just printed Aaron judges, 32.
[00:11:12] Speaker B: Like. Like, what is money in the MLB?
[00:11:15] Speaker A: Well, apparently, they just defer all these contracts.
[00:11:17] Speaker B: A lot older than I thought he was.
[00:11:19] Speaker A: Yeah, he's a lot of home runs.
[00:11:21] Speaker B: That's. That shows you how much I watch baseball and how much I like the Yankees.
[00:11:25] Speaker A: Look, these contracts are ruining baseball because, I mean, we are so fortunate to be in town where a guy like Jose was like, screw the money. Like, I have generational wealth. Like, I'm going to play where I want to play. That just doesn't happen. No. And these contracts are just ridiculous.
[00:11:42] Speaker C: I feel like Mike Trout got one of these contracts, like, probably 10 years ago. I feel like, when's the last time that dude's been relevant? I feel like I don't know it.
[00:11:50] Speaker B: He's. Well, to be fair, Mike Trout is, in my opinion, not the best example. Cause he's still looked at as one of the best players in baseball. He's just hurt a lot. He's hurt all the time. He's hurt almost every season he has. He's out for a big stretch of games, but he is still looked at as one of the best players in baseball right now.
[00:12:08] Speaker C: So it's just baseball. So weird like that.
[00:12:11] Speaker B: It is.
[00:12:11] Speaker C: One guy gets that much money.
[00:12:13] Speaker B: It is weird. It is weird.
[00:12:14] Speaker A: I mean, geez, you look at Mike. Mike Trout played 29 games this year.
[00:12:19] Speaker B: Well, that's. He's always 82.
[00:12:21] Speaker A: The year before that, 119, 36, 53. I mean, Jesus, in the last five years. But he's basically played a full season of baseball.
[00:12:30] Speaker B: Yeah. And I agree, like, is it worth it? Is it. Was the contract worth it? Probably not. But when he is on the field, he's still considered, like, top three players in baseball. Probably top five.
[00:12:40] Speaker A: I've never seen one of these contracts.
[00:12:42] Speaker B: Like, really work out, like, where you're like, that was money well spent.
[00:12:46] Speaker A: Yeah. I mean, every time I see. It's like, they end up paying these guys.
[00:12:49] Speaker B: The only one that might work out in the long run is Sohei Otani, because he continues to dominate. But even him, like, now he can't pitch. Really.
[00:12:56] Speaker C: So he's international superstar, too, I feel like.
[00:12:59] Speaker B: But the MLB does a shit job of marketing their players, so what does that really get you? Nothing.
[00:13:03] Speaker A: Oh, he needs some money. He does a lot of gambling.
[00:13:06] Speaker B: It was his interpreter.
[00:13:09] Speaker A: It's always the interpreter. Always the interpreter.
[00:13:11] Speaker B: I just love.
[00:13:11] Speaker A: That's what Jimmy Haslam said. It wasn't me, it was my interpreter.
[00:13:14] Speaker B: Every time this story comes up, I just love that the only times he's had an interpreter is when he had a gambling problem.
[00:13:20] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:13:20] Speaker B: Before and after he was. He talks perfect English, so whatever. But. But, yeah. So Juan Soto. 725 million. That's more than the Guardians will pay all of their players for the next 14 years.
[00:13:32] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:13:32] Speaker C: Wow.
[00:13:33] Speaker A: I mean, baseball has to get us out, and this is just ridiculous.
Look, I mean, here's the thing. Is Juan Soto going to be the, like, irredeemable difference for the Mets next year? Like, are they going to win the World Series because of Juan Soto?
[00:13:48] Speaker C: Probably not.
[00:13:49] Speaker A: Probably not. Like, the odds probably are against that.
[00:13:51] Speaker B: They made it. What were they. They made it to the championship, the National League Championship this year, didn't they?
[00:13:59] Speaker A: Did they make the World Series?
[00:14:00] Speaker B: Yeah. Well, they lost to the World Series. They lost to la, actually.
[00:14:04] Speaker A: I mean, they got Francisco Lindor on that roster already. Who's got a ridiculous contract like that? I mean, that team.
[00:14:08] Speaker B: But it doesn't matter. They just deferred all. Whatever that means. I don't know.
[00:14:13] Speaker A: I don't know. They gotta. They gotta fix baseball.
[00:14:15] Speaker B: Yeah. One more thing. Before we get to the Browns, let me remind everybody to call the Burger Sportscast. I take outline.
Leave your hot takes on the hot take. Outline. Remember, these are hot takes. We got a hot take today, we want to listen to an hour later. We.
[00:14:25] Speaker A: Let's do. Now.
[00:14:26] Speaker B: All right, let's do it. We've got a hot take.
[00:14:29] Speaker C: I want to listen to a hot take.
[00:14:30] Speaker B: Hot take. Hot take. Let's listen to the hot take. We're just stalling here, waiting for you to.
[00:14:35] Speaker A: Here it goes.
[00:14:38] Speaker E: All right.
[00:14:39] Speaker B: You know who this is?
[00:14:41] Speaker A: This is Angry Bobby from the Browns Backers of North Jersey.
[00:14:47] Speaker E: I'm driving home right now after that unbelievably bad loss because we do not.
[00:14:57] Speaker A: Have a fucking kicker who can kick a field goal.
[00:15:01] Speaker E: He screwed up the entire game for us.
[00:15:05] Speaker A: The entire game.
[00:15:07] Speaker E: It would have been a totally different game if he would hit those freaking field goals. Pivot field goals.
That's all I got for right now.
[00:15:18] Speaker B: My other complaint to you is every.
[00:15:22] Speaker E: Time I watch And I watch every single brownsbackers interview.
You guys all clap.
[00:15:30] Speaker A: We never got that. We never got that.
[00:15:33] Speaker E: Last year we didn't get that.
So next year I want another interview.
[00:15:41] Speaker A: When the Browns play at the Jets.
But I'm hoping that you will come to the Angry Bobby open next year. I'm hoping so.
[00:15:54] Speaker E: I hope we get a good draft pick now.
[00:15:56] Speaker B: That's it.
[00:15:57] Speaker A: I'm done. Good night.
[00:16:03] Speaker B: Was that it?
[00:16:04] Speaker A: That was it.
[00:16:05] Speaker B: You gotta love Angry Bobby.
[00:16:06] Speaker A: Angry Bobby.
[00:16:07] Speaker B: Angry Bobby was.
[00:16:08] Speaker A: Let's give Angry Bobby a round.
[00:16:09] Speaker B: Yeah. Angry Bobby. Angry Bobby.
[00:16:13] Speaker C: Much deserved. Much deserved.
[00:16:14] Speaker B: Yeah. Well, listen, we apologize that you never got your round of applause. That kind of came about after we had toyed with how we wanted to open these things a little bit. And we went back and forth. When we did it, we didn't do it.
[00:16:26] Speaker A: And we also pull a robbers or Jim Irsay now when we pump crowd noise in.
[00:16:31] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah.
[00:16:31] Speaker A: True, true.
[00:16:33] Speaker B: Yeah. We got caught out once and somebody was like, I didn't know it was just going to be you cheering for me.
[00:16:37] Speaker A: We're like, well, it was Metcalf.
[00:16:39] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:16:40] Speaker A: It was like, great. You guys are cheerful.
[00:16:42] Speaker B: Yeah. Yeah. He didn't understand the post production part of this where we were going to pump the crowd noise.
No, listen, Angry Bobby, we appreciate the call. Yeah. Our kicker sucks ass. He's terrible. He's the worst kicker that ever lived.
[00:16:53] Speaker A: I don't know what happened.
[00:16:54] Speaker B: Maybe him and Kate York should battle worst kicker ever.
[00:16:57] Speaker A: He went from best to worst.
[00:16:59] Speaker B: Yeah. Nobody embodies The Browns of 2024 more than Dustin Hopkins. He literally went from just hitting on everything to hitting on nothing.
[00:17:09] Speaker A: I mean, it was to the point where we were like, yeah, fuck it. Kick the 65 yarder. Just go for it.
[00:17:13] Speaker B: Yeah. I had literally every time he came out on the field last year. And to your point, I don't care if it was from 65, 67, 72, I'd be like, yeah, we're hitting this fucking field goal. Three points. Chalk it up. Not anymore. Now I'm like, we're probably going to miss the kick and they'll return it for a touchdown. Like, that's how I feel. Like they're going to find a way to get points out of this because he's that bad.
[00:17:33] Speaker A: That was really bad. And it was the. It was the difference in the game. I mean, I truly believe that if he'd made those two kicks.
[00:17:39] Speaker B: It's completely different at 13:13 than it is.
[00:17:42] Speaker A: Well, even at 27, 20. Right. I mean, the last 10 minutes of the game, you're trying to one possession to just tie the game back up. Instead, you're down two scores. Impossible.
[00:17:51] Speaker B: Yeah. Dustin Hopkins, I've never been more disappointed in a player than I am in you. So I hope you take that to heart.
[00:17:58] Speaker A: And I agree, Bobby. I hope I get a good draft pick.
[00:18:01] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. And we will. We will try to make it out to the Angry Bobby Open.
[00:18:07] Speaker A: So I'm going to go out on a limit and say we are making it this year. All right, we are making it.
[00:18:11] Speaker B: That's fair.
[00:18:11] Speaker A: It's not that far. We tried to go this year. We just had back to back events and Red Hot Ronnie wussed out on me.
[00:18:17] Speaker B: I think we'll be deep enough into having the second child that I think I can get away for that.
[00:18:22] Speaker A: You know, you better start prepping the wife now.
[00:18:25] Speaker B: Sorry, I got.
[00:18:25] Speaker A: Because that dates out there. I think it's like the first week of June or whatever.
[00:18:28] Speaker B: Sorry, I gotta go to New Jersey.
[00:18:30] Speaker A: Going with Angry Bobby.
[00:18:31] Speaker B: Yeah. Yeah.
[00:18:32] Speaker A: Screw your new kid.
[00:18:35] Speaker B: I didn't say that. I didn't say that. That wasn't. That didn't come out of my mouth.
[00:18:39] Speaker A: 18 years from now, they're gonna be like, who is that guy?
[00:18:42] Speaker B: Yeah. But again, Angry Bobby, we do appreciate it. We'll give you. We'll give you another shot at an interview.
[00:18:47] Speaker A: And that was a good hot take hotline. Yeah, that was a real good one.
[00:18:50] Speaker B: Yeah. And in case you want to leave a hot take on the hot take hotline, the number for that is 330-2278-033022-78080 3302278, 080-330-2278, 080. Call now. We're not standing by, but we will put you on the air like we did with Bobby. Yeah. Hell, yeah.
[00:19:08] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:19:09] Speaker B: And if you're looking for the weekly recap, you've come to the wrong place. Go back into whichever podcast platform you're watching or listening on and look for our live episode from Sunday night after the game.
But with that, let's go ahead and get into the Burning river sports cast Dog of the Week.
[00:19:27] Speaker D: Doesn't matter, man. You gotta play tough people in the National Football League.
[00:19:31] Speaker A: You gotta be ready.
[00:19:32] Speaker D: And we gotta be the dogs that we are every time we step on there on Sunday. And be ready to attack. And don't stop until we're in that locker room.
[00:19:44] Speaker B: All right? So this week on our live show, we nominated the following Browns players For Dog of the Week. These ones were a little weird, but I liked it Anyways.
Kenny, you nominated Jerome Ford. Wasn't there a specific reason for this?
[00:19:57] Speaker A: It was a little tongue in cheek. He had one guy kickoff return. Yes.
[00:20:00] Speaker C: It was a good kickoff return.
[00:20:01] Speaker A: It was good kickoff return.
[00:20:03] Speaker B: Here's the kicker. He got a vote.
[00:20:06] Speaker A: Nice. He had a good kickoff return.
[00:20:08] Speaker B: I nominated Jerry Judy, and Bone nominated Jordan Hicks for again, one.
[00:20:14] Speaker C: One big hit where he came up. He was man to man on the running back, and they a little swinger out. And he came up and hit the back pretty hard.
[00:20:20] Speaker B: And I believe the quote from Bone from Sunday's live episode was. Is the only time during the game I was excited.
[00:20:27] Speaker C: Literally.
[00:20:27] Speaker B: Yeah.
So, yeah, Jerome Ford, Jerry Judy and Jordan Hicks. And after the fan vote that was conducted on our socials, this week's Burning River Sportscast. Dog of the week is Jerry Judy.
[00:20:44] Speaker A: If you want to win. But Judy.
[00:20:46] Speaker B: Judy. Judy.
[00:20:48] Speaker A: Judy. Judy.
[00:20:50] Speaker B: Judy.
[00:20:51] Speaker A: Judy. Judy.
[00:20:52] Speaker B: So Jerry Judy wins Dog of the week for the second week in a row. In this one, he had six targets, five receptions, 64 yards along of 35, and one touchdown.
Listen, the best part about this season, and there's not very many good things that you can pick out, but I think the single best thing that's come out of this season is Jerry Judy. The fact that we were able to get him in the trade and we extended him for not that much money, to be honest with you. And right now he is putting. He has almost identical numbers to CD Lamb. And I know that CD Lamb is playing with Cooper Rush right now, but Jerry Judy played with DeSean Watson the first half of the season.
[00:21:31] Speaker A: So Judy playing with. With Jameis Winston has made a huge difference.
He's one of the top receivers over the last one eight weeks or whatever. So.
Yeah, I agree. Look, I think like this team, we thought Amari Cooper was the number one, and obviously, you know, that came and went, but Jerry Judy looks like a legitimate number one target for this team going forward. I still would love to see them add another. So you have like the Bengals have Higgins and Chase, but I think that you at least have that as a foundational building block going into next season is you have what should be a true number one receiver. Now, that being said, without this team was a playoff team this year, and they shit the bed. So I guess it's not beyond the real possibility that Jerry Judy might be lightning in a bottle right now. But. But by the eye test, I mean, hopefully next year he'll be just as Good.
[00:22:25] Speaker B: Well. And yeah, I mean you kind of. I think it's important to point out by the eye test, because by the eye test, like he's, he's not just open, he's wide open all the time.
[00:22:34] Speaker A: And he's making catches. It's not like he's dropping. I mean we've seen, we've had a lot of guys on this team that were great athletes that could get open but they couldn't catch the football. Judy has been reliable pretty much all year long in crunch time and anytime. So I mean we still have even issues with like guys like Njoku at time that are dropping, you know, questionable balls. So Jerry Judy has been, you know, a godsend for this team.
[00:22:59] Speaker B: Absolutely.
So one more time, give it up for Jerry Judy. The burning of a sportscast. Dog of the week.
I guess we won't.
There you go. In other Browns news here, the Browns have officially been put out of their misery and eliminated from playoff contention. Obviously we knew this. You know, they weren't making a playoffs even before this week, but mathematically it has finally happened. They, there's no possible way for them to make the playoffs.
[00:23:27] Speaker A: You get in double digit losses. Cause it's not good losing.
[00:23:31] Speaker B: And then the only other note I have here, Dustin Hopkins is somehow still on the team. So I think that's big news seeing as he's like the assiest kicker of all time. He's just so bad. He's so ass.
[00:23:45] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah. Look, we've been back and forth on this because we had said initially like you don't cut him this late in the season. This seems not going anywhere. But like now you're actively losing games just because of him.
You should at least try something else. I know there's some cap considerations and things, but look, there's somebody out there that will kick a ball for next to nothing. I know there is.
[00:24:03] Speaker B: Well, we know you're not going to make an example out of desean Watson. So make an example out of Dustin Hopkins. Say you play like shit, we cut you.
[00:24:10] Speaker A: Period.
[00:24:11] Speaker B: Like that's what happens. It is what it is. So. I mean, it's hard to stand on that leg when you got desean Watson on the roster over there. Yep, I get it. I get it. We don't have to talk about it again.
[00:24:22] Speaker A: It's just, it's just hard to imagine how he went from being so good last year to so bad this year. It's just, it's totally mental.
[00:24:28] Speaker B: Like don't forget, like we were, we were counting down until he Broke the bracket. Brown's all time scoring record. And he. He came up just short of Jim Brown's record because he got injured.
[00:24:37] Speaker A: Right.
[00:24:38] Speaker B: But he was. He had it. He didn't just have a good year last year. He had a historical year. It was the best year by a kicker ever in Cleveland history.
[00:24:45] Speaker C: He won us quite a few games last year.
[00:24:46] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:24:47] Speaker C: With our defense.
[00:24:47] Speaker B: Yes.
[00:24:48] Speaker C: Like D hop turned our season around.
[00:24:50] Speaker B: Yeah. So, I mean, it was not this year.
[00:24:52] Speaker C: Not this year.
[00:24:53] Speaker B: No. This year he's doing the opposite. He's literally losing us.
[00:24:55] Speaker A: Assiest of asses.
[00:24:57] Speaker B: Whoa. What's that? Time for the Burning river throwdown.
The hoedown throw. I don't know what this thing's talking at home. Feel free to dance with us. When that music comes down, that. That means it's time for the. We just like to. We like to break things up. We need some movement.
[00:25:24] Speaker A: We need some good vibes right now. The season is dragged on. It's hard to listen to talk about the Browns. It's hard to talk about the Browns for two hours. And so we break it up. We have a dance party.
[00:25:33] Speaker C: I just think this segment would be way better if any of us could dance.
[00:25:37] Speaker A: I'm gonna twerk next time. You're gonna see.
[00:25:40] Speaker B: You know what I think we should start doing? We should do like the fan cams and like, we should all bring props and like, just throw them on real quick and like, put the helmet on.
[00:25:48] Speaker A: You're breaking the fourth wall.
[00:25:49] Speaker B: Yeah, I don't know.
[00:25:50] Speaker A: Come on, give that shit to yourself.
[00:25:55] Speaker B: Show notes, show notes. Cut it.
Next up here, we got the division roundup.
All right, we're going to run through this quick because there's not a lot going on yet in the division.
The Baltimore Ravens were on by.
[00:26:18] Speaker A: Bye.
[00:26:19] Speaker B: Just a no, no game to pick there.
The Bengals are currently playing on Monday Night Football at Dallas, so we'll add that game to the standings next week. Just as a reminder, all of us picked. The Beng is currently tied and obviously the Browns lost to the Steelers. So, Kenny, we were right.
[00:26:35] Speaker A: Nice bone.
[00:26:36] Speaker B: You just leave me hanging here. Thank you. That was a bad friend. Sorry, Bone.
[00:26:39] Speaker A: You were wrong. My arms are short.
[00:26:41] Speaker B: What an idiot. He picked the Browns.
[00:26:43] Speaker C: You talked me into it.
[00:26:44] Speaker B: What an idiot.
[00:26:46] Speaker A: Good.
[00:26:47] Speaker B: More for you and me.
[00:26:48] Speaker A: Hey, the Browns look really good against the Chiefs this week.
[00:26:50] Speaker B: Yeah. Yeah. So they. I think they might win by 30.
So for. For the AFC north, though, the standings are as follows. Pittsburgh on top at 10 and three. Baltimore at eight and five. Cincinnati at four. And eight. We'll see what happens with this game. And Cleveland three and 10 first, one to 10 losses.
And so the current king of the north standings are. Bone is on top at 24 and 19.
I finally got 20 wins. I'm at 20 and 23 in second place. And Kenny, you're at the bottom at 18 and 25.
[00:27:24] Speaker A: Still a lot of games up to pick, boys.
[00:27:25] Speaker B: There are still a lot of games, but with that, let's go ahead and take a quick trip around the NFL.
All right, so a couple quick notes from around the NFL today. Tickets for Giants vs vs Saints at MetLife are going for as low as $2 right now, so that's cheap. If you want to see a football game for $2, go see angry Bobby. Yeah.
[00:28:01] Speaker A: In New Jersey. Should we make a trip for two bucks? It's not a bad deal. I'd pay two bucks to see Angry Bobby.
[00:28:07] Speaker B: This is. This is like, you remember when we had a season tickets, like, and it was really cold at that. That year.
[00:28:13] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:28:13] Speaker B: And at the end of the season, like, that's what the. I remember the Browns had games as low as a dollar at the end of the season. Like, people just wanted to give their tickets away.
[00:28:21] Speaker A: The best part about that season ticket package was they gave us a blanket that year.
[00:28:26] Speaker B: It was about as big as my left nut.
[00:28:31] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:28:31] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:28:31] Speaker A: The size of your left nut for sure.
[00:28:33] Speaker B: That was ridiculous. Like, it literally looked like it was just a handkerchief.
[00:28:37] Speaker A: You blow your nose in it. Yeah. You couldn't take it to a cold weather game, that's for sure.
[00:28:42] Speaker B: You know, it was very generous of them. They gave that out to however many season ticket holders.
[00:28:46] Speaker A: Just enough to, like, put on your seat to, like, keep your butt from touching this, the snow and the plastic.
[00:28:50] Speaker B: Yeah. You'd have been better off giving us a towel to wipe our seats off from all the snow.
[00:28:55] Speaker A: Right.
[00:28:57] Speaker B: But yeah, $2. So if you want to see a game, you're in the area.
I can't promise it's going to be a good one, but you can go see it.
[00:29:04] Speaker A: Won't be a good one.
[00:29:05] Speaker B: And then next up here, DJ Academics. Am I saying that right?
[00:29:09] Speaker A: He's a DJ and his name is Academics. Yes.
[00:29:12] Speaker B: DJ Academics has come out and claimed that Houston Texans wide receiver Stefan Diggs is in a relationship with multiple women in the entertainment industry and they are all paying him for his company.
I'll be honest with you, I don't even know what that means, but I mean, I do, but I don't.
Give us some insight here.
[00:29:34] Speaker A: Yeah, look, I don't know what this means either. I just thought it was a funny story that apparently there are girlfriends of rappers and other celebrities that are paying Stefan Diggs for his company. According again, to DJ academic sources.
[00:29:49] Speaker B: Is that for his company in quotations like, we think it's for his company or.
Well, is that just to hang out?
[00:29:56] Speaker A: Let me quote the late, great DJ academics.
[00:30:00] Speaker B: Is he late? He died.
[00:30:01] Speaker A: No, he's not late. He's still here.
[00:30:03] Speaker B: Just in the time that I did this story. He died.
[00:30:06] Speaker A: He's early. Let me quote the great DJ academics who was again, making unconfirmed claims at this point, but he's.
[00:30:15] Speaker B: I can't confirm or deny them, that's for sure.
[00:30:18] Speaker A: I'm going to say this now, I might be corrected later, but I'm hearing all about him. I told you, he's effing like, five other dudes, girls. He's said some other colorful language here, but I'm going to say dudes, girls. In the music industry, this dude, he's the definition of a community dick.
Allegedly.
[00:30:37] Speaker B: Allegedly.
[00:30:38] Speaker A: And he wasn't finished. As he went on to praise Stefan Diggs for not spending cash on these women, he says instead, I hear some of them are actually spending money to be with him. Again, all legend, this came out. I guess there were some pictures of him with young Miami, who was like Diddy's girlfriend for a minute.
[00:30:57] Speaker B: That's not a name you want to be tied to.
[00:30:59] Speaker A: Was also, yeah, apparently hanging out with Cardi B at one point. So apparently we're expecting some more big names to fall out of this whole situation. But, yeah, it's just apparently Stefan Diggs is. He's that dumb dog.
Whatever that means.
[00:31:20] Speaker B: I'm be honest with you. I don't even know what to do with this story.
I do. I do know, Bone. I think you had mentioned it before. There was a story of Stefan Diggs and, like, what other players said about him, right?
[00:31:34] Speaker C: Oh, I think it was on Hard Knocks. And the question was, what player on your team would you not want to date yourself? And everybody who was asked this interview question was like, Stefan Diggs. Like, immediately, without hesitation. Without hesitation. Every person that was asked, it was.
[00:31:48] Speaker A: You know, it was unanimous.
[00:31:49] Speaker C: It was unanimous.
[00:31:50] Speaker B: So it seems like there might be something to this, like, around the NFL. He's. Is. Is he like.
Who's the one that has, like a. Is he like Nick Cannon of.
[00:32:00] Speaker A: Or like, there's a couple of them. Tyree kill.
[00:32:03] Speaker B: Tyree Kill. That's. I couldn't remember if it was Tyree Kill or not, but it just has so many babies out there.
[00:32:08] Speaker A: Tyree Kill has more babies this year than touch downs.
And yeah, apparently again, Diggs is just that dog. So don't limit your sister.
[00:32:21] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah, yeah, that's.
I don't know.
And then finally here, Bill Belichick currently. And not, not NFL, but, but college. But I wanted to throw it in here because Bill Belichick currently in talks with UNC to become their next football coach. So on the surface, I look at this and I'm like, unc, like University of North Carolina, like the Tar Heels, that football program Blue.
[00:32:46] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:32:47] Speaker B: But then, you know, I get to thinking about a little bit more and I'm like, with the way nil is, with the way the transfer portal is, you bring Bill Belichick to the Tar Heels, they're going to be competing for like maybe not national championship next year, but they're going to, they're going to make some noise next year.
[00:33:02] Speaker A: Oh, I believe they would absolutely be in the national championship picture. I think the.
[00:33:06] Speaker B: Definitely making that 12 team playoff.
[00:33:07] Speaker A: I think the harder thing to fathom is like, like, is with, is that going to be Bill Belichick's only opportunity next year? Like there's got to be an NFL job in Dallas and in Las Vegas, in New York somewhere that Bill Belichick could be a fit for.
[00:33:23] Speaker B: Yeah, but I mean college pays a lot of money to coaches now.
[00:33:27] Speaker A: They do pay a lot. And to your point, they could build a team in one off season pretty easily.
[00:33:31] Speaker B: Yeah, we just talked, I just talked about this with my wife over the weekend because she was asking how much Ryan Day makes because he needs fired.
And Ryan Day, I believe his is like in the seven and a half million dollar range a year or something like that.
[00:33:44] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:33:44] Speaker B: And she was instantly, she's like, oh well, Kevin Stefanski is making more than that. Right. In two time coach of the year in the NFL, whatever. And I was like, nah, he's making like just over three.
[00:33:54] Speaker A: So yeah, yeah, yeah, I think they would pay handsomely for Bill Belichick. I mean, look, if he does go to unc, like what a tremendous asset for those kids in that program, whether they are there now or were they transferred into the portal. I mean, to have arguably the greatest football coach of all time get to you in your, you know, learning stages of football and, and probably send you on your way to the NFL.
[00:34:20] Speaker B: I'll tell you which school is going to have their draft stock rise and have a bunch of kids get drafted is going to be unc because he's going to instill in them like how you be a professional.
[00:34:30] Speaker A: Well, yeah.
[00:34:31] Speaker B: Going into the NFL 100.
[00:34:33] Speaker A: And look, I like he's, he's. I think, I think there were, there were accusations around how he said he was the GM and the head coach in New England. And there were. Was a thought at the time when New England started being bad as Tom Brady left that maybe the game had kind of passed Bill by. Bill has been doing tons of media rounds all this year and I think he, I think it's been good for him to have that time off because he's kind of taking a step back and. But like you listen to him, we analyze players like especially like during the draft. Like he is still very sharp. Sharp and all about football. So I know he's an older guy, but like that dude just lives. Eats breeze football.
[00:35:17] Speaker B: Yeah, I agree. And yeah, I mean if this is true, if this does come to fruition, I mean what, what a, what a time to be alive. You just got Bill Belichick coaching in the ncaa.
[00:35:27] Speaker A: Pretty wild. So pretty wild. It would be a hell of a story, that's for sure.
[00:35:31] Speaker B: But that's it for around the NFL. Let's go ahead and get into our.
I'm the smoke in the sky I'm the gas in the tank Going to.
[00:35:40] Speaker C: Turn it up, turn it down I'm.
[00:35:42] Speaker E: Hot to the touch, burning up I'm.
[00:35:44] Speaker B: Hot hot to the touch I'm hot to the touch burning up I'm hot, I'm hot like fire, fire all right, guys, it's getting to be Christmas season, so you know what we're doing for Hot3 this week?
[00:35:56] Speaker C: What is it?
[00:35:57] Speaker A: Favorite Christmas gifts.
[00:35:58] Speaker B: We did. No. Oh, we did Christmas. Christmas cookies last week. This week we're going do Christmas movies.
[00:36:04] Speaker C: Oh yeah?
[00:36:05] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:36:06] Speaker A: All right.
[00:36:06] Speaker B: Yeah, some. Some of mine are going to be popular. I'll start number three, Daddy's Home 2 and sequel. Yeah, well, cuz Daddy's Home 1 is not a Christmas movie fair. But Daddy's Home 2 is a Christmas movie and it is, it is one of the most underrated comedies in the last probably like 10 years.
[00:36:29] Speaker A: Tremendous cast.
[00:36:30] Speaker B: Yeah, it's so good. You got John Lithgow, Mel Gibson. Yeah, you got.
[00:36:34] Speaker A: Already had Will Ferrell and Marky Mark.
[00:36:36] Speaker B: And Marky Mark. You got John Cena in there. John Cena, he just like, like, I honestly think that. Not that he's a good actor, but John Cena is very underrated in Hollywood. Like he is very funny.
[00:36:47] Speaker A: Yeah. Look, I mean, it's always interesting to see these guys that are like, ex wrestlers show up in major motion pictures. Like, they're obviously the Rocket at first and has made a tremendous career out of it. Batista has been. Is. I mean, have you seen him lately? I mean, yeah, he looks wild. He's down to, like £225.
[00:37:04] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:37:05] Speaker A: And looking for more serious role. He's tired of playing, like, the big super villain guy, but, yeah, John Cena is another one of them. It's just like, he's low key, funny.
[00:37:14] Speaker B: Peacemaker, his show on hbo, if nobody's watched that, we're not sponsored by them. But if nobody's watched Peacemaker, you need to watch Peacemaker. It's one of the funniest shows on tv. It's so good.
[00:37:23] Speaker A: I've heard it's good. It's on my list of things to watch. But even in Trainwreck, it was funny.
Cena's got a little bit of that in him, and I think you're gonna see a lot more John Cena over the course of the next few years.
[00:37:37] Speaker B: John Cena pretty much done at this point. I like him. We're getting to a wrestling segment here, I guess, but I like him walking back the comments of everything he said about Dwayne Johnson back in the day, about how, you know, you don't give a shit about the wrestling industry. You're just an actor.
[00:37:52] Speaker A: One of the greatest rivalries in modern wrestling. When he was making those promos about Dwayne Johnson and they had the WrestleMania buildup, and he was just all about him being a Hollywood elite and how John Cena was there every night.
[00:38:05] Speaker B: Oh, how the turntables have turned, working.
[00:38:08] Speaker A: 300 nights a year on the road, all that. Just doing it for the fans and the love of the sport. And. Yeah, here's. Here's Hollywood John Cena.
[00:38:17] Speaker B: Here we are. It's a lot easier to make those millions when you're just in Hollywood.
[00:38:20] Speaker A: I'm John Cena.
[00:38:22] Speaker B: Yeah, but no, Daddy's Home, too. Really the main reason for this, though, other than it being just a really funny movie in general, is the final scene when they're all singing in the mall is just one of the best scenes in all of Christmas movie history.
[00:38:35] Speaker A: Well, you said the final scene. I thought you were talking about silly.
What the final scene was with Charles Sullenberger, who landed the airplane.
[00:38:45] Speaker B: No, that. Yeah, that. That was funny, too. No, I'm talking about like. Like the cl. The.
[00:38:50] Speaker A: The final ensemble.
[00:38:51] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. It was just phenomenal.
All the way down to the kid kissing his sister.
[00:38:57] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:38:58] Speaker B: Instead of the girl that everybody thought he had a crush on. That was hilarious.
[00:39:01] Speaker A: Get weird.
[00:39:03] Speaker B: But, yeah, Daddy's home, too. That's number three. Number two, Polar Express.
Yeah, I know, I know. It's weird because they all got dead eyes and it's terrible animation. But this was before animation got good. But it's mostly because Polar Express was my favorite book when I was like a kid. Like, it, like, just like, I'm talking, like, early on, like, just learning to read and stuff. Like, I would bring home Polar Express from the library like, every day and have it, like, basically year round. It wasn't just a Christmas book for me. And so when the movie came out, I was real excited.
Other than the dead eyes, they actually did a pretty good job of, like, the animation looking like the book, like the pictures in the book.
[00:39:38] Speaker A: So the problem with Polar Express is the Uncanny Valley is it's that they look too much like humans.
[00:39:43] Speaker B: They do. And then I think that it's a combination. It's the uncanny Valley and the dead eyes. Because their eyes, like, that was before animation had, like, come a long way to where you could actually make their eyes expressive. And so they looked very real, but they just kind of.
[00:39:57] Speaker A: I mean, that's the Uncanny Valley effect in general. I mean, they just. It's. They look too much like humans.
Your mind, I can't accept it. Yeah. And it's ugly. So, yeah. I hate Polar Express. I also feel like Polar Express.
[00:40:12] Speaker B: I told you this is going to be unpopular.
[00:40:13] Speaker A: I feel like Polar Express puts children in unnecessary peril. It does do that, like, hardcore throughout. Like, there's kids hanging off of trains or, like, falling on ice. Like, what is even happening in that movie? The whole thing was like a death trap. All to see Santa Claus, all to prove a point.
[00:40:32] Speaker B: Well, arguably it was a dream, depending on who you talked to.
[00:40:35] Speaker A: Well, in my dream, I don't fly outside of the train. I ride inside the train. Everything's fine. You could have had the show just in the train.
[00:40:41] Speaker B: In your dream, you're having conference calls, so.
[00:40:44] Speaker A: That's true.
[00:40:44] Speaker B: Yeah. And Zach's climbing. And Bones climbing through holes in the wall.
[00:40:47] Speaker A: You know what's safe? Conference calls. It's not safe to Polar Express.
[00:40:51] Speaker B: That's fair. But Polar Express number two, I would.
[00:40:53] Speaker A: Freak out if my kid was on the Polar Express.
[00:40:56] Speaker B: Number one for me is the Santa Claus.
Yeah. With Tim Allen. It's just my. My favorite Christmas movie of all time because I'VE said this when people ask me, like, how do you know it's Christmas? Like, what indicates to you, like, it's for sure Christmas time now and getting fat? No, for me, it is the scene in the Santa Claus when he finally gets through the first night being Santa Claus. Well, no, not that.
When he finally gets through the first night of being Santa Claus, they get back to the North Pole, right? And the little elf comes out and starts pushing the numbers in for them to, like, go down into the North Pole. And all of a sudden that Christmas song plays. I don't even know what the name of the Christmas song is or how I can't sing it to you or anything. But, like, that Christmas song is just like a very. That's what tells me it's. It's. It's time for Christmas is I'm like, oh, it's here. It's here because it's like, it's just so joyful.
So joyful and triumphant, if you will.
[00:41:57] Speaker A: Those are the keys to Christmas.
[00:41:59] Speaker B: Yeah. So Santa Claus number one for me. Plus, it's just funny as hell. Tim Allen, I don't think has ever been better than he was in the same Santa Claus.
[00:42:07] Speaker A: He was a good Santa Claus.
[00:42:08] Speaker B: So those are my hot three.
I have a lot of honorable mentions, but we'll get to those later. Bone. Oh, hot three Christmas movies.
[00:42:18] Speaker C: Oh, man. On the second, number three. The Grinch with Jim Carrey. The live action one.
[00:42:23] Speaker A: Classic.
[00:42:23] Speaker C: I love that movie. It was when I was younger and it was just. It was just really good. I thought it was well done.
[00:42:28] Speaker B: That's it. I'm not going holiday.
[00:42:29] Speaker A: Hoo. Woody.
[00:42:30] Speaker C: Yeah, Like Max the dog and it's just. Yeah, it's fantastic.
[00:42:34] Speaker B: Max the dog looks exactly like the cartoon too.
[00:42:36] Speaker A: So that's another one too. That's as Ronnie was talking about, like, effects. Like, that movie was kind of old and like everything they did, whether they were like live action effects or stuff with cgi, like, it holds up to today, I think.
[00:42:47] Speaker C: Well, it's the makeup and stuff they did on Jim Carrey is like, just incredible. Yeah, exactly.
2. This is a Netflix movie that came out a little while ago called Klaus.
[00:42:59] Speaker B: Oh, I love cartoon.
[00:43:01] Speaker C: Cartoon kind of origin story of Santa Claus Claus. And it is really good.
[00:43:05] Speaker B: The one where the. The mailman one. Yeah, the one you're talking about.
[00:43:08] Speaker C: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. It like, blew my mind when I watched. I was like, whoa. I did not expect this movie to be this good.
[00:43:12] Speaker B: That one's phenomenal. That's. That's on our list every year now. That's, like, one of the ones we watch.
[00:43:16] Speaker C: It's when I watch with my girls, like, probably three years ago, and I. I bet you they forget it. So I'm gonna watch it again here soon with them.
[00:43:22] Speaker B: Yeah, you've seen that one.
[00:43:23] Speaker C: It's so good.
[00:43:24] Speaker A: I have not seen that.
[00:43:25] Speaker B: Watch that this year.
[00:43:25] Speaker C: It's J.K. simmons in it, I think. Rashida Jones.
[00:43:28] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:43:29] Speaker C: Norm MacDonald, you know Rip.
[00:43:31] Speaker A: Love Norm. Rip. Yeah.
[00:43:34] Speaker B: Great cast.
[00:43:35] Speaker C: And then number one is Elf. I love Elf. It's just hilarious. There's so many good lines in that movie.
[00:43:40] Speaker A: This Will Ferrell can't go wrong with.
[00:43:42] Speaker C: One of his finest. His finest.
[00:43:44] Speaker B: Yeah. Fair. I like it. I like it. Elf. I forgot about Klaus. That probably would have made one of my honorable mentions, but Elf was definitely in there. And Grinch is one of those ones that sneaks. It sneaks under the radar. Like, I really, really like the Grinch, so I wouldn't have ever thought of it. But that's. That's a good one, too. Kenny.
[00:44:01] Speaker A: Oh, it's my hot three.
[00:44:02] Speaker B: Hot three movies. Christmas movies.
[00:44:05] Speaker A: My hot three Christmas movies are as follows.
Number three, Behind Enemy Lines.
[00:44:14] Speaker C: Oh, nice.
Sniper movie.
[00:44:18] Speaker A: A lot of people maybe won't. Don't consider a Christmas movie, but.
But it was Christmas in the movie.
[00:44:27] Speaker C: That's the one with Owen Wilson, right?
[00:44:28] Speaker A: Owen Wilson. Gene Hackman. And Owen Wilson gets stranded in, like.
[00:44:33] Speaker B: I have a feeling we have a theme coming here, but go on Soviet Russia or somewhere. Like, you're definitely gonna have Die Hard in here.
[00:44:40] Speaker A: I'm not a big Die Hard as a Christmas movie guy, but this is, I guess, is along the same lines Behind Enemy Lines.
[00:44:45] Speaker C: Actually, my favorite part is when he's riding in the back of the pickup and he looks at that dude's shirt, and he's like, ice Cube.
[00:44:50] Speaker A: Yep.
[00:44:51] Speaker C: And then the dude's like, yeah, Ice Cube.
[00:44:52] Speaker A: They bonded with a Coke.
This is just a great movie. And just for me, like, it was, like, young Owen Wilson, too. Like, before he was, like, the mega star that he is now. He was a big star before he was. Yeah, before he was, like, the megastar. And he was just so. He was so good in it. Just like, there's just so many memorable scenes in that movie of them, you know, the gunfight at the. At the pond and trying to turn the beacon on and then running through the minefield after watching the kids, like, figure out. So he knew where not to step. Just great movie.
But I do find that it's always on At Christmas time. Because it was Christmas when he went behind enemy lines.
[00:45:27] Speaker B: See, tried to tell you.
[00:45:29] Speaker A: Number two, just Friends.
It's another one. Maybe not a traditional Christmas movie, but it was Christmas in the movie when Ryan Reynolds went home with Anna Faris. Amy Smart, beautiful in that movie. Just a hilarious holiday feel good comedy rom com, big rom com guy.
[00:45:51] Speaker B: Is Ryan Reynolds your favorite? Ryan?
[00:45:53] Speaker A: Yeah, Top three Ryan's.
[00:45:55] Speaker B: Yeah, we'll get there one day.
[00:45:56] Speaker A: The Ryan Reynolds is definitely up there.
But yeah, he goes from just being the overweight high school kid that has like been stuck in the friend zone with Amy Smart, I would consider that a Christmas movie.
[00:46:06] Speaker C: Oh, that is a good movie.
[00:46:07] Speaker A: And then they kind of like rekindle when he goes back to his.
[00:46:09] Speaker B: Yeah, because it really is like a lot of it is focused around like the Christmas stuff going on too, so.
[00:46:14] Speaker A: Oh yeah. I mean the decorations being pulled down by the car, the ice skating at the.
[00:46:20] Speaker B: I'm not even saying that's probably. That's definite.
[00:46:22] Speaker A: A Christmas movie. And Dusty Dinkleman, Just a lot of good, just funny characters in that movie. And then number one for me, I go straight classic here. It's a Christmas Story.
Peter Billingsley, Darren McGavin.
I mean, just great Christmas fair. It's just kind of like.
[00:46:46] Speaker B: And what do you do on Christmas Day?
[00:46:49] Speaker A: Well, that's the thing. So basically, since I was, I don't know, eight years old, like I remember being like put to bed by my dad. Like we would go in my room and like turn Christmas Story on. And it was on TBS and USA on like every network now on Christmas.
[00:47:02] Speaker B: Time, 8:00pm to 8:00pm, Christmas Eve, Christmas Eve to Christmas Day, 8:00pm to 8:00pm.
[00:47:07] Speaker A: And we would watch it literally like all night long. And then it would be on TV all day long during Christmas. Now we've got like football and basketball and things to like watch too. But like when I was little, Christmas Story ran nonstop in the house from the time I went to bed on Christmas Eve until the end of Christmas.
And then I have a cat also that has yellow eyes. Like Scott Farkas. That's name is Farkas. Yeah, named after the namesake.
[00:47:33] Speaker B: That's true. You do have that.
[00:47:35] Speaker A: Yeah, just.
[00:47:35] Speaker B: I mean, did you see the sequel that came out? Like, just.
[00:47:38] Speaker A: I didn't see the sequel yet.
[00:47:40] Speaker B: I would recommend watching it. I think they actually did a really good job paying homage to the original.
[00:47:44] Speaker A: I've heard it's good. What I love about the Christmas Story though is just like it hits on all of the very like most used holiday Traditions like just like the decorating of the tree and just kind of like the way things were back then. And also cool because of the connection to Cleveland, obviously. We have the Christmas Story house here. A lot of it was shot there and you know, department stores and stuff with Santa Claus and just the whole thing. Great, great movie. One of my favorites of all time.
[00:48:10] Speaker B: Yeah, Christmas Story was definitely on my honorable mention. Some. Something that I've. I just noticed that I'm sure on social media they'll kill us on. Is. Is nobody put a Christmas vacation in here, which is one of my honorable mentions. But it didn't make.
[00:48:22] Speaker C: Or Home Alone.
[00:48:22] Speaker B: Or Home Alone.
[00:48:23] Speaker A: So Christine Sayor to some Alone.
[00:48:25] Speaker B: Yeah, we'll probably get killed on that. But Christmas vacation I've seen so many times at this point that I'm just like. I like. I still really like it, but I. It lost a little bit of its luster for me.
[00:48:37] Speaker A: I just.
I mean, I'll just say it like, I don't really care for it. I don't know. It just wasn't.
[00:48:43] Speaker C: I'm kind of with you there.
[00:48:44] Speaker A: It's not my. Not in my top Christmas movies of all time, like at all, I guess either.
[00:48:49] Speaker B: You guys. Chevy Chase. Guys. Chevy Chase.
[00:48:50] Speaker A: Chevy Chase. And like, Chevy Chase was great in fucking. The golf movie.
[00:48:55] Speaker B: Caddyshack.
[00:48:56] Speaker A: Caddyshack. Like, I love an old school Saturday Night Live and stuff. Like, love Chevy Chase. I just never got into the whole national Lampoons. I mean, there's like a million stories they've told, but I just was never a huge fan. And then just kind of like I saw it recently again just as an adult, and I was just kind of like. I don't know why people love this movie so much. Maybe just because it's Christmas tradition.
[00:49:17] Speaker B: But yeah.
[00:49:18] Speaker A: Yeah, I didn't think it was like that good.
[00:49:20] Speaker B: It's always one that I have to watch. My wife's favorite scene in that I'll do a shout out for her right now is when he's in the attic and he gets stuck in the attic and they all leave and when they get back, he's got like the hot pack on his head and he's like trying to stay warm up there with all the women's clothing on and he's watching all the videos, the home videos on the old school projector reel and just crying. And my wife loses it every single time that comes on. She thinks it's so funny.
But yeah, I mean, I like watching it least once a year, but I think we'll get killed on that.
[00:49:56] Speaker A: Kill me.
[00:49:58] Speaker C: I can take it.
[00:49:59] Speaker B: Yeah. Yeah. So that'll do it for Hot3, though.
[00:50:02] Speaker A: Kenny, any other honorable mentions you want to throw out there or.
[00:50:05] Speaker C: Bad Santa.
[00:50:05] Speaker B: Bad Santa.
[00:50:06] Speaker A: Bad Santa.
[00:50:08] Speaker C: The classic Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, like the.
[00:50:11] Speaker B: All the classic Santa Claus is Coming to Town is a good one with Arnold Schwarzenegger. Peanuts Christmas movie with the toy where.
[00:50:20] Speaker C: They'Re trying to get the.
[00:50:22] Speaker B: Oh, Jingle all the Way. Yeah, that's a good one. Simbad in that one.
[00:50:26] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:50:26] Speaker B: Yeah, that's another one. That's. That. That movie was so, like, realistic to me until he started flying at the end and I was like, what the just happened? Like, how did it go from this to this? Like, yeah, I mean, Earnest.
[00:50:40] Speaker C: Earnest Saves Christmas.
[00:50:42] Speaker A: Ernest was good.
I'll put everything over National Ant.
[00:50:46] Speaker C: Yeah, that movie is great.
[00:50:48] Speaker B: Yeah, there's. There's quite a few out there. I mean, there's a lot of good ones.
[00:50:51] Speaker A: A lot of classics. We didn't.
[00:50:52] Speaker C: The cartoon Grinch that came out a couple years ago, I think is pretty, pretty, pretty good.
[00:50:56] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:50:57] Speaker C: The newest one with Keenan's in it.
[00:50:59] Speaker B: I'm drawing a lot of blanks because I'm. I'll be honest with you, I'm still real shook with Behind Enemy Lines. But.
[00:51:06] Speaker A: I'll say this, too. I enjoyed just like all the Hallmark movies all around Christmas time. I mean, I don't know any of the names of them or who the actors were, but it's just like, easy watching, like, while you're wrapping presents or cooking or doing whatever else, like. So it's enjoyable enough to have on in the background.
[00:51:22] Speaker B: Yeah, that's fair. Christmas time. Yay.
[00:51:25] Speaker A: Yay, Christmas time.
[00:51:27] Speaker B: But that'll do it for our hot three. Kenny, you know what?
[00:51:30] Speaker A: It's time for probably a Brownsbackers interview.
[00:51:32] Speaker B: It is definitely time for a Brownsbackers interview. It's something we started doing last year. We're going to continue it this year. We'll probably continue it next year. Not probably. We will continue it next year. We have a lot of fun doing it. Highlight all these Browns backers groups because they're huge fans and they do a lot for their community. So with that, let's go ahead and get into the next interview in this.
[00:51:48] Speaker A: Series, powered by Riverside fm.
[00:51:59] Speaker B: All right, so for this Brownsbackers interview, please help me welcome from one of the lands of great barbecue, the president of the Brownsbackers of Kansas City, Fred.
Thanks so much for joining us, Fred. How are you today?
[00:52:14] Speaker E: I'm well, thank you. And thanks for having Me, I appreciate you exposure.
[00:52:18] Speaker B: Yeah, absolutely. Absolutely. We love our fellow Brownsbackers, so it's always good to have a new one on here.
So just. Yeah. Let's start out with your chapter. Tell us a little bit about your chapter. Tell us the history, you know, where you guys watch games, all those types of things.
[00:52:33] Speaker E: Yeah, we, we started. I moved here in 1995 and for work and there was no Browns. There was no Browns at that time. And pretty frustrated as everybody else was at that time. But then when they announced, I went out to see an Indians and Royals game and stood on the corner with a sign about the Brownsbackers, and that was the beginning of our chapter as in 1999. So we've been active for 25 years and we've got a pretty passionate group, small group that shows up every week. But this year it's been a little bit like we've got on paper 160 members. And last week I think we had 13.
Typically, we'll have 35 or 45 people.
We meet at a bar, old tavern downtown called the Qaf. And they're really good to us. You know, again, we're in Kansas City, so, you know, we get a little bantering, but I'm sure every club does. This week, especially with the Chiefs in Cleveland, should be quite interesting.
We were interested and pretty dedicated to supporting our local community.
We've actually donated every year to the Cleveland Browns Foundation.
We have two more weeks of, of Toys for Tots for the Marines. And our big charity is the Harvesters, which is a local food bank for Kansas City. And just right before, I guess, on the Giving Tuesday, we donated enough for 12,000 meals for the native of Kansas City. So we're pretty pleased about that. We probably donated over the years. Years, well over a hundred thousand meals. So it's a wow, it's nice to be able to do that.
That's what we do. And I'll tell you a little story. Back in 2017, when we had that year of no wins, we still had a small group of us hanging around. And I was on my way out of the door and I think the Chiefs were playing another late game, and this guy called me over to the table. I thought, oh, man, here we go.
I don't need this.
And he calls me over and he says, he says, I got to tell you, he says, you guys are about the most loyal fans I've ever met in my life. And he congratulated us. And, you know, that that kind of made the year. You know, it's at least they, they recognize it. And I do believe that with the Browns backers groups is that, you know, we're, we certainly stick to it. So yeah, it's, it's a great time and we're, I'm happy to say we're family friendly friendly. So, you know, love to have the kids there and we just have a good old time. Whether we're, you know, it's a lot easier to win than it is to lose, but we'll see what happens.
[00:55:41] Speaker B: Absolutely.
No, and you make a good point there. I mean, Browns fans really are just, just second to none. And honestly, honestly, like the Browns backers take it to a whole other level besides the typical Browns fan. And yeah, I mean, we've been through it all at this point. It's, it's been tough sledding most years.
Luckily in the last few, we've at least had a couple high moments. But we're right back. We're right back to kind of feeling the same way we did the same old Browns. Yeah.
[00:56:10] Speaker A: Unfortunately, we're a different breed for sure.
Fred, I want to ask just because you're in a unique spot there in Kansas City. You have obviously the lows of the Browns, but you're also in like title town usa. So, like, how has that been to try and like, personally reconcile with them winning super bowl every year?
[00:56:28] Speaker E: Well, probably. It's probably a little bit easier because, you know, we're not, we're not a big threat to them. You know, they give us a hard time. Bob knew it was not playing well, but they recognize our loyalty, as I mentioned.
Yeah. I mean, it doesn't bother me when they give us a heart time. And the bar is a. It's three big rooms and we, they give us one room and then they reserve it for us.
So it's good and we welcome everybody there.
You know, it's. We don't get too carried away about it. And if they do, you know, we ask them to leave and the bar participates in that. So, yeah, we're good with that. It's, you know, it's when you're living here and then it's like you said, title time. No, it's.
[00:57:13] Speaker A: It's.
[00:57:14] Speaker E: You notice the difference when they win and lose and they've had some, they've had some interesting wins this year. Last night, not being an exception, I thought that was. Which makes things interesting for, for this coming Sunday.
[00:57:28] Speaker A: Yeah. The doing for the division last night.
[00:57:30] Speaker E: Yeah.
[00:57:31] Speaker B: It just, it seems like just while we're on the subject of Them, you know, it being title town over there. It seems like the really good teams, and especially, I mean, I know they're, they're kind of an exception even to the good team because they're a dynasty at this point. But the really good teams find ways to win and it seems like the ball bounces their way and a lot of people call it luck, but I think it's more so a product of the fact that there's a belief there and there's an assumption like this is what we do, we win games. And I think that goes a long way to like you said, the doing for the division. Like, yeah, it was as close but like everybody in Kansas City knew it was going in off top. Right. Because that's what happens. It's.
[00:58:13] Speaker A: It's Murphy's Law in reverse. Right. It's everything that can go. Right.
[00:58:16] Speaker E: Yeah, they find it. They find a way to win and we don't. You know, I think it's just amazing to me too, and I don't want to tempt fate, but you know, the Guardians and the Browns have been hit by injuries the last last few years. It's just incredible. And I, you know, I think that's a lot to blame.
Our quarterback selections have been less than ideal, obviously, but you know, we're. We're still there. And I just, you know, I'm waiting for that day. Last year was. Was pretty cool. But you know, I don't know if that's a fluke. I mean, we got the talent. It's just that we just can't put it all together. And you're right, cold culture is everything. And you get. But when you get somebody like Myles Garrett and Nick Chubb, which. You see the jersey back there. Nick Chubb is everything that Cleveland stands for. In my mind, he and Ramirez, they keep their mouth shut, they work like hell and they're great people.
[00:59:18] Speaker B: Yeah. And I think that's the biggest travesty of just like this season especially is obviously he wasn't here for the first part of the season, but you're just wasting another year of Nick Chubbs career playing the games that we played the beginning of the season with, with the guy that supposedly gave us the best chance to win and those types of things which.
[00:59:35] Speaker A: Well, and Miles and Denzel. I mean, there's a number of all these guys on the team that you feel bad for all these guys.
[00:59:42] Speaker E: And you're bringing him back after a devastating injury to an offensive line that is lost. Hell, I don't know, what do we have do we have one starter left over? It's the ones that we do have plan are hurt. So it's. Yeah, it's been, it's been very frustrating.
[00:59:59] Speaker B: Absolutely. And we'll get deeper into football here in just one second. I had one more question before we get there, though.
You are out there in Kansas City and I know that you said you, you, you moved out there, but were you, were you born in Cleveland? Was it, Were you born and raised a Cleveland Browns fan here and then made your, your trek out there to start the Brownsbackers organization in 1999 or how did that come about?
[01:00:25] Speaker E: Yeah, I grew up in Kent and you can't help not to be a Browns fan in northeastern Ohio.
So I watched them all my life and when I got out here, I did a lot of traveling for work and so I was aware, as a matter of fact, the Bay Area brownsbackers was the first group I ever went to and it was great. You know, you feel like you're in a Cleveland bar when you go out and get together with these folks and they're very.
Being downtown, we used to be out in the suburbs down here in Kansas City, and I purposely moved it downtown to be one, centrally located and two. You know, it brings people that are from out of town, they come by. We, I think half of our group last week was from out of town, so that was pretty cool.
[01:01:15] Speaker A: So were you a Kent Rough Rider?
[01:01:17] Speaker E: Yes, I was.
[01:01:19] Speaker B: Nice, nice. We. So you know, the little known fact, all three of us here are field high school graduates, so right down the street. Yep.
And Kenny's actually wearing a Camp Brownsbacker's hat right now, so I'll be down. Okay, good. Yep. So we know exactly where you're talking about. It's right down the road.
But yeah, let's, let's get into to the football side of things here. So first of all, just what are, what are your feelings on the Browns in general this year? I mean, you know, we talked a little. We've already kind of hinted at it a little bit and talked about a little bit is the fact that it's, it's obviously a letdown this year. But, you know, what do you think that stems from? Is it coaching? Is it more players or where do you think all that, you know, kind of started this year?
[01:02:05] Speaker E: Well, I think it's, I think it's a little bit of everything.
I was glad to see Stefanski let go of the play calling and I think Dorsey's doing a good job. Although, you know, we see A little pass heavy, but I don't want to load up Chubb with, with an injured offensive line anymore. But you know, I think he needs to run the ball more. But that's. What the hell do I know?
So, I mean, you know, it's, it's. It just.
One thing I don't understand is the defense, the backfield or the. Yeah, the defense backs seems to have been playing awful soft and I don't know, it just, you know, it's injuries, coaching. I mentioned the quarterback situation and you know, it's a quarterback's league. There's no question about it. And you know, I think you, Detroit and Buffalo and Kansas City and you know, those are the teams that are showing us just that Miami and we, you know, what's frustrating is that we had a shot at every one of those guys. But you know, we made brilliant decisions with Johnny Manziel and desean Watson and you know, but I don't know. That's, that's hindsight and I don't want to be negative, but it's just we, I actually kind of like to see DTR get some, some starts since we're out of it because I think they need to make a decision what we're going to do. We're lumbered, I think with. I guess that's a negative term, but we've got desean for a couple more years. But you know, he's already shown us that he really doesn't have it. I mean, I went down to the Houston game and when we played him and they. I mean, he looked all world but he hasn't been that guy.
[01:03:49] Speaker B: Yeah, he doesn't, he doesn't look good, that's for sure. And here's the deal, Fred. You know, you should be, you shouldn't be as hard on yourself because be. Just because you're stating facts doesn't necessarily mean you're being negative. I mean that's just, that's just the state of the team right now. And we have that battle with our show all the time as far as, you know, every once in a while we'll get people talking about, well, you know, why are you so negative on the Browns right now? And it's like, because the truth hurts.
[01:04:18] Speaker A: Three and ten.
[01:04:19] Speaker B: Yeah. So it's. Yeah. I mean, just because you could call a spade a spade and if it, if it is, then you should.
[01:04:26] Speaker A: And I was going to say don't, don't. You don't give yourself enough credit. You said, what do I know? I mean, I think that's the Browns fans fall into that trap a lot where it's like you can trust what you're seeing with your own eyes. I mean, you know, the product on the field isn't good. You know, I think sometimes we fall into this loop of thinking that this is some sort of rocket science to figure this out. I mean, play good defense, move the ball on offense, protect the ball.
It's not over that overly complicated, but yeah, just trust your own eyes.
So you bring up a good point though. Obviously this is a quarterback driven league.
Given this front Office's zeal for DeSean Watson refusal to even consider pulling him into this year, it looks like quarterback is probably, you know, on the radar for the NFL draft either this year or next. And you know, one of those two drafts. Do you still have confidence in this front office to make that quarterback pick?
[01:05:22] Speaker E: That's a good question. I don't know. I'm not real big on the analytics part. You don't hear much from De Podesta anymore, which I guess is good.
[01:05:34] Speaker B: Well, it's because he's out there in California. He never comes to Cleveland, so.
[01:05:37] Speaker E: Yeah, well, that's crazy.
You look at somebody like Purdy and I was San Francisco and Mr. Irrelevant, I don't think he's a great quarterback, but he's a very good quarterback. And we haven't had a. I don't know when the last time we had a very good quarterback.
And again, the injuries are killing us, so I hope they can.
It's just, it's difficult to have a whole lot of confidence after I'm 70 years old, which puts me at 1954 and when I was born. And I think that was the last time we won a champion championship, wasn't it?
[01:06:17] Speaker A: 64. I don't remember that, but 64.
[01:06:20] Speaker E: 64, yeah, 64, yeah, 64.
So, yeah, I mean, it's been a long time.
[01:06:26] Speaker B: Yeah.
And I mean it is. It's just tough. I mean, we kind of beat this thing to death this year. It's just this year more than any year has been particularly difficult to watch just because of all the expectations coming into it and everything like that and the talent.
[01:06:43] Speaker E: The highlights have been obviously the Pittsburgh game and the Baltimore game and you know, those two. Those two teams beating them or, you know, can make your season. You know, we're.
[01:06:52] Speaker B: Yeah, we still have a chance to sweep the Ravens, so, you know, that's. That, that would be a good thing.
[01:06:57] Speaker A: Yeah, well, I think it's. What's so frustrating is those are both good Football teams and you beat them, it's like you're capable of competing at any level. It's just for whatever reason, they have not been able to put it together, you know, consistently this season.
[01:07:10] Speaker E: Well, that's what I'm hoping for this week. I think, you know, a lot of people come in and mind you, that the Chiefs have already clinched. So, you know, I don't know if they're. If they're going to be reading a whole lot of their own press, which I think can be damaging to some teams. That is Buffalo yesterday.
But I think, you know, who knows?
[01:07:29] Speaker A: Who knows.
[01:07:29] Speaker E: We can. We can play up to. And we can certainly play down to the competitions.
[01:07:35] Speaker B: Yeah.
[01:07:36] Speaker A: Are you thinking potential trap game then this week?
[01:07:38] Speaker E: Well, this would be interesting, but, I.
[01:07:42] Speaker B: Mean, it is a good segue. So what. What are your thoughts on this week's game? What do the Browns have to do to win? And then, you know, what. What do you think is actually going to happen?
[01:07:52] Speaker E: Well, we could. I mean, we got to play all three phases of the game. There's no question about that. And you know, we've really struggled on special teams, which is just amazing to me. And you know, Baltimore's got that same issue with Justin Tucker. That blows my mind.
Defense, like I mentioned, the secondary has got to. Got to play up. Miles has been fantastic and, you know, I guess we need to throw the ball to the right colored jerseys.
[01:08:25] Speaker B: That'll help when he delivered from pick sixes. Yeah, Yeah, I think.
[01:08:28] Speaker E: I mean, I think we got a shot at where. I think last I saw were six point spread, which is. Which is pretty amazing.
[01:08:36] Speaker A: Yeah, fair enough.
[01:08:38] Speaker B: Given that they're 12 and 1 and the Browns are 3 and 10, so. Yeah.
And so with that, Fred, I mean, what is. What's your score prediction this week? We get score predictions from everybody, so. So you got to give us one, too.
[01:08:49] Speaker E: I saw that you might answer that or Matt might ask that. I'm going to say the Browns 28, 20, 27. I don't know if we'll blink it in, but I think we could take it down to the end and. And get them.
[01:09:03] Speaker B: Listen, Fred, you are much more optimistic than we are on the show, but I appreciate it.
[01:09:08] Speaker A: I would take a win against the Chiefs for the Ravens and the Steelers this year.
[01:09:11] Speaker B: Yeah, it's one.
[01:09:13] Speaker E: We're going to get. We're going to get terribly.
[01:09:17] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah.
[01:09:18] Speaker E: We have our.
We. We got to play all four quarters.
[01:09:23] Speaker B: Yeah. And any. Anytime I pick, which I'm. Spoiler alert, I'm picking against The Browns this week, but anytime I pick against the Browns, it's like the only time, like, I hope I'm wrong. I hope I'm wrong, but we'll see. We'll see. I appreciate your optimism, though. 28. 27 is good, especially given we scored 14 last week.
[01:09:42] Speaker A: So we're holding Fred to. At 20. 27.
[01:09:45] Speaker B: Yeah.
[01:09:46] Speaker A: Hey, Fred, real quick, yours here.
[01:09:49] Speaker E: And I. I have decided that I will never bet for or against the Browns. And the same thing with the Buckeyes.
[01:09:57] Speaker B: So.
[01:09:57] Speaker E: So it's.
It just whatever. I mean, it's. I'd love to see him get it.
What are you thinking?
[01:10:13] Speaker B: I mean, I think it's safe to say we're all picking against the Browns, but we. We actually do a segment later in the show, so you'll. You'll listen. Listen to our show and tune in and you'll. You'll hear our breakdown of the game and how we're feeling about this week against Kansas City.
[01:10:29] Speaker E: So I'll definitely do that.
[01:10:31] Speaker A: Fred, I know we're working up against time here, but I just wanted to get the given. You are, as Ronnie mentioned at the top of this interview, in one of the barbecue capitals of the world. Do you have a favorite smoked meat joint in the area?
[01:10:46] Speaker E: Yeah, I like the Jack Stack barbecue. That's my favorite, but I get a little picky, too. I. I actually grilled a lot when I was back in Cleveland, and I joined a barbecue team out here, and we competed at the American Royal.
And I'm also a barbecue judge, so I've got my little area out in the backyard with the Weber and the smoker and the gas grill, and it keeps me off the streets, but I love my barbershop.
[01:11:22] Speaker A: You're still getting after it, then.
[01:11:23] Speaker E: Yeah, do what?
[01:11:26] Speaker A: You're still getting after it, then. You're not. You're.
[01:11:29] Speaker E: You're.
[01:11:29] Speaker A: You're. You're in the barbecue game.
[01:11:31] Speaker E: Yeah, I love it.
[01:11:33] Speaker B: Yeah. Like. Like. Like our board man, Bone man's a top 10 crossfitter in the world. You're like a top 10 barbecuer in the world, it sounds like.
[01:11:40] Speaker E: So, yeah, my wife keeps coming out and, you know, asking me, what are you doing? And I said, I'm cooking, of course.
[01:11:49] Speaker B: What else would I do?
Yeah.
[01:11:52] Speaker A: Well, if we find our way to Kansas City, we'll have to stop by your house the night before your watch party.
[01:11:56] Speaker E: Yeah. There you go.
[01:11:58] Speaker B: Absolutely. Well, hey, Fred, it's been great having you on. We really appreciate it. We appreciate you telling us about your. Your chapter out there and hopefully, as Kenny said, we can make our way out to Kansas City and meet you in person sometime soon.
[01:12:12] Speaker E: That would be great. The last time that Kansas City played out here, we had. We had a tailgate and we had over 500 people and we had it catered with some really good barbecue and we had this. They've got a company called Trailergate where they have this huge trailer that they bring in and we had with three 65 inch TVs and air conditioned bathrooms and we had a blast. A good crowd again everywhere. They're good fans and we love to have them visitors. So look forward to seeing you guys.
[01:12:46] Speaker B: Absolutely.
[01:12:47] Speaker A: For sure.
[01:12:48] Speaker B: Thanks Fred. We appreciate it.
[01:12:49] Speaker E: Thank you guys again. I appreciate the time and the exposure for our chapter.
[01:12:55] Speaker A: Absolutely. Thanks so much.
[01:13:02] Speaker E: We're the Browns backers of Kansas City. You're listening, Burning River Sportscast. Go Browns.
[01:13:16] Speaker B: Good time talking to Fred from the Brownsbackers. Kansas City, huh?
[01:13:20] Speaker A: I love that. Fred is a barbecue guy.
[01:13:22] Speaker B: He's the barbecue guy.
[01:13:23] Speaker A: He's the barbecue guy.
[01:13:24] Speaker B: He's like, yeah, no big deal. I'm a judge.
[01:13:26] Speaker A: I'm a judge. I'm in competitions. Barbecue all the time.
[01:13:29] Speaker B: I'm in competitions.
[01:13:30] Speaker A: I'm in Kansas City. What do you think?
[01:13:31] Speaker B: I'm in competitions. I won so many of them. I judge competitions.
[01:13:34] Speaker A: I judge them. I'm the judge.
[01:13:35] Speaker B: I'm the guy.
[01:13:36] Speaker A: Thank you, your honor.
[01:13:37] Speaker B: Yeah, Fred's just a real dude, you know.
[01:13:40] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah, it looks. It sounds like they've got a lot of really die hard fans in that chapter. So hopefully they continue to.
[01:13:49] Speaker B: You got to be strong in a place like that too. You know, you talked about it being title town and yeah, it's probably not.
[01:13:55] Speaker A: The most popular thing to be a Browns fan there.
[01:13:57] Speaker B: You gotta, you gotta be strong. You gotta be strong. But we really appreciate him, another Browns backers group holding it down.
[01:14:03] Speaker A: Yeah, I mean, I mean some of the numbers starting out charities, really impressive for the meals and stuff provided. Awesome.
[01:14:11] Speaker B: Absolutely. And so with that though, let's take a quick revenue break and then come back here. And let's talk about this Week 15 matchup with the Chiefs.
[01:14:19] Speaker A: Great.

All right guys, it's time to get in the Week 14 preview brought to you by True Fan Travel.
All right guys, we got the Kansas City Chiefs this week.
[01:15:31] Speaker A: Oh boy. Oh yeah.
[01:15:32] Speaker B: Yeah. Kenny, do your thing. It's time. It's time for Kenny's Cliff Notes.
[01:15:36] Speaker A: Burning River Sportscast.
[01:15:38] Speaker B: No, it's time for Kenny's Cliff Notes.
[01:15:39] Speaker A: Oh, it's time for Kenny's Cliff Notes.
[01:15:46] Speaker B: I like how you gave yourself the fastest sounder of all time for this one. It's like that's what.
Yeah, you are that quick in real life too.
[01:15:55] Speaker A: Look guys, we're going to say it's the Chiefs.
[01:15:58] Speaker B: It's the Chiefs.
[01:15:59] Speaker A: Head coach Andy Reed and DC Steve Spagnulu have created a monster in Kansas City and they win the super bowl every year. Now accept it.
They have the best quarterback in the game and the best tight end in probably NFL history. They're 12 and 1.
Statistically, honestly, this hasn't been their best year. But this team is battle tested in every facet and just finds ways to win games.
I mean look, we can run through the list. Isaiah Pacheco, Kareem Hunt, that dude that keeps the pet alligator. DeAndre Hopkins, Xavier Worthy, JuJu Smith Schuster, even backup titan Noah Gray is better than most. I think he's their third leading receiver.
This defense ranks like 8 to 12 in most categories but plays like a number one in crunch time. Carloftis, Chris Jones, Drew Tranquil, Nick Bolton, Justin Reed tomorrow Connor. It's an embarrassment of riches and even when they're all pro kicker went down. They just signed a rando off the street who's of course eight for nine with two game winners already. In fact, little known fact, they've had three kickers this year when Harrison Bucker first went down and they are now the only team or the first team in history to have three kickers make game winning kicks in one season.
And we have one kicker who can't make any field goals.
Basically everything goes right for Kansas City and nothing goes right for the Browns.
[01:17:23] Speaker B: He's our kicker. We expect him to work through it.
[01:17:26] Speaker A: Obi Wan, you're our only hope. That or a snowstorm of epic proportions or just the absolute complacency of a division winner in a trap game. Go Browns.
[01:17:36] Speaker B: I like the Star wars reference. Help us Obi Wan Kenobi.
[01:17:40] Speaker A: These teams just better than Us, Period.
[01:17:41] Speaker B: That was nice. You know, it's time for now.
[01:17:45] Speaker A: That doesn't matter.
[01:17:54] Speaker B: I got two of them.
[01:17:55] Speaker A: Of course you do.
[01:17:56] Speaker B: Yeah.
Number one, obviously, Patrick Mahomes versus the Brown secondary. Here's the deal. The Brown secondary sucks this year.
[01:18:05] Speaker A: They're really bad.
[01:18:06] Speaker B: They consistent. The only thing they do consistently is give up. Big place. That's it.
[01:18:12] Speaker A: We don't like to be deep as the best.
[01:18:14] Speaker B: No, it's literally the, like, the cardinal rule as a DB in football is you are always deep as the deepest. Like, if you at least keep somebody in front of you at all times. Times, you probably won't get fired.
[01:18:26] Speaker A: If you keep them in front of you, they can't get behind you.
[01:18:28] Speaker B: Right? Yeah. So we don't do that, though. We keep them behind us so they can't get in front of us.
[01:18:32] Speaker A: That's right.
[01:18:33] Speaker B: Always in front of us. Yeah. So can they even attempt to contain Patrick Mahomes? Probably not, but we'll see.
Next up on the matchups that matter, the Browns offensive line versus the Chiefs front seven.
Once again, the Browns really bad in this facet of the game. They. They don't block well. They're. They're not particularly. They're really bad at blocking for the run.
Here's. Here's something that they don't have going for him this week is the Chiefs are really good at stopping the run. So this is just another matchup that spells disaster for the Browns.
And I'll tell you this. It's not the. It's not Nick Chubb. It's not Jerome Ford. As much as I'm not real high on Jerome Ford. It's not the running backs for the Browns. It's the offensive line not blocking and creating run lanes. So will they be able to open up one, maybe two, three running lanes?
[01:19:25] Speaker A: One would be good.
[01:19:26] Speaker B: We'll see. They won't.
So, yeah, those. Those are the two things.
[01:19:31] Speaker A: Like, when's the last time we had a running back break free for like 42 yards?
[01:19:34] Speaker B: We don't happen.
[01:19:35] Speaker A: Yeah.
[01:19:36] Speaker B: So those are the matchups that you'll have to watch because here's the deal. If we're sitting at this thing at the end of the game and Patrick Mahomes has 300 and some yards and we've only rushed for 47. We definitely lost by a lot. So in summary here, the Chiefs have a 12 and 1 record. They're coming off a close victory over the Chargers. They doinked it for the division.
[01:19:58] Speaker A: Sure did.
[01:19:59] Speaker B: Their defensive ranks are as follows. Their 8th overall 3rd against the rush, 8th best scoring defense, 10th in the red, 10th in the red zone, 18th on 3rd down and 23rd against the pass. So that's. It'll probably hold true in this game that they'll still be 23rd against a pass because we'll be passing all night long. I expect James Winston to have another 55 at attempts in this one.
[01:20:22] Speaker A: That's what we do now. That's our offense and we won't be.
[01:20:25] Speaker B: Able to run the ball. So we'll lose. Like that's what's going to happen is we're going to lose. On offense. They rank between 10 and 20 and just about every stat category, but they are not good in the red, red zone. Coming in at 20 at the 24 spot for Red zone offensive rankings. And but on the flip side of that, they are the best team in the NFL on third down conversions. So the ability to extend drives is why they are so good this year.
And then the Browns, obviously a 3 and 10 record coming off another loss, this time to the Steelers. This is one of the worst feeling losses I can remember. And the Cowboys game was only 14 weeks ago. The Giants game was 12 weeks ago. The Raiders game was 11 weeks ago. The Commanders game was 10 weeks ago. The Eagles game was nine weeks ago. The Bengals game was eight weeks ago. The Chargers game was six weeks ago. The Saints game was four weeks ago. The Broncos game was a week ago.
[01:21:12] Speaker A: That list is getting long.
[01:21:14] Speaker B: It's getting real long. It was. It feels bad. Feels real bad. Browns aren't good. Every week I try to come up with an area where I think they might be able to play well. Every week I'm disappointed because they don't do anything well consistently. They're a really bad football team. I know they're. The thing is like, let's play spoiler the rest of the year. Whatever we're going to, we're going to ruin, let's be honest. We need a miracle to win.
Like that's what we need. They could try and play spoiler all they want, but the Browns are a really bad football team. So they can't just flip a switch and play good football. You know who can? The Chiefs. The Chiefs because they're a very good football team. And so I guess with that being said, it's time for Bone Man's skeleton key. To victory.
[01:21:51] Speaker A: To victory.
[01:21:57] Speaker C: Oh, nice. I'm going to keep it simple, guys. We, we do need a miracle. And the only way we're going to get that miracle is with, with prayer. Lots of Prayer, you know, I'm, I'm centering in on what Jamis wins, had to say. Let's pray for, for him that he would be delivered from this pick sixes. Let's pray that the Browns defense gets some pick sixes, maybe get some turnovers and maybe a massive play on special teams, like a run back or something insane. And maybe, just maybe, we can win the game.
[01:22:26] Speaker A: That's our only hope.
[01:22:27] Speaker B: That's our only hope. Help us. Obi Wan Kenobi.
Kenny, what's the betting info?
[01:22:33] Speaker A: Betty? Line Chiefs minus five and a half. So that makes the Browns a home dog over under at 45 and a half.
[01:22:44] Speaker B: We get.
Yeah, I thought it was a way game, but it's a home game.
[01:22:49] Speaker A: It's a home game. We're home dog, big home dog. I'm just thinking, like, analytically, like, we got analytics guys in this front office, like, looking at Jameis as your quarterback.
[01:23:00] Speaker B: Yeah.
[01:23:00] Speaker A: Like, shouldn't there be some sense some, some semblance paid to, like, he's good for a while, but if he throws more than 50 times, like, you risk the pick sixes.
[01:23:11] Speaker B: Yeah.
[01:23:11] Speaker A: Like, maybe a part of the gameplay.
[01:23:12] Speaker B: Statistics will tell you, like, he's, he's.
[01:23:15] Speaker A: Good for like 90% of the game. So, like, if you could limit his past attempts to like 30, there's less opportunity for him. And run.
[01:23:22] Speaker B: Run the ball more.
[01:23:23] Speaker A: Run the ball more. There's less opportunity for the throw pick sixes.
[01:23:25] Speaker B: Run the ball more.
[01:23:26] Speaker C: No way.
[01:23:27] Speaker B: No way.
Yeah, so before we get, before we round out the Week 15 preview, I want to. I want to bring somebody back, guys.
[01:23:37] Speaker A: Is it a friend of the show?
[01:23:38] Speaker B: Yeah, it's a friend of the show.
[01:23:39] Speaker C: Nice.
[01:23:40] Speaker B: Defensive correspondent John Hughes. We're going to bring him in right now for some more insight.
[01:23:44] Speaker A: All right.
Powered by Riverside fm.
[01:23:57] Speaker B: All right, guys, please help me welcome former Browns dt, our official defensive correspondent and dear friend of the show, John Hughes.
[01:24:10] Speaker D: Doing pretty good, man. Can't complain. Getting ready for the holidays with the kids and still got the barbershop going on a lot of stuff. So.
[01:24:19] Speaker B: Absolutely. Any anything, any. Any big plans for the holiday coming up.
[01:24:24] Speaker D: Building traditions, man, as the kids are, you know, younger, we're trying to, you know, incorporate things that we did, you know, as kids growing up between me and my wife and then adding new kind of traditions to build with them over the years. So we always real light shows and different things like that. So we'll. We'll go driving around doing, like, different light shows and things like that.
[01:24:44] Speaker A: So are you a live Tree guy or a fake tree guy?
[01:24:48] Speaker D: Man, I am actually a fake tree guy. And that's.
And that's from my mom, man. I grew up with a fig tree, but it was our tradition to build the fig tree from, you know, branch by branch and then put the decorations on.
[01:25:01] Speaker E: So it.
[01:25:01] Speaker D: It was his own tradition by itself.
[01:25:04] Speaker A: Nice.
[01:25:04] Speaker B: Yeah. I'll be honest. I'm fig tree, too. We. We grew up real tree. And I just. The. The maintenance that went into it is making sure it's watered, and, like, it's. It was like, a job for, like, you know, the kids, and we all hated it. Cause we're like, it's just another chore, and it never got done. And then by the end of the thing, there's pine needles every. Everywhere, and it was a whole mess.
[01:25:22] Speaker A: But it smells like Christmas.
[01:25:24] Speaker B: It does smell like Christmas. But there's candles for that.
[01:25:27] Speaker D: Yeah, I've heard. I heard those horror stories from a lot of people with real trees. I feel like I'm good with my fake one.
[01:25:34] Speaker B: Yeah. Yeah, me too. Like I said, there's. There's candles for that. There's different Christmas sense you can get. So. Right. But let's just go ahead and get right into it. John. Let's talk about the Browns. Since Jameis has taken over, it feels like the offensive offenses has finally been, you know, putting up some numbers, moving the ball a little bit. However, the. On the defensive side, the struggles seem to be back with a vengeance. Can you kind of tell us what you're seeing with the defense these last few weeks?
[01:25:59] Speaker D: Yeah, just overall, man. And I think Jamis had said it in a quote after the game, but, you know, it wasn't the Steelers that beat the Browns. It was the Browns that beat the Browns. So it's literally executing on all three levels. Right. You know, offense, defense, special teams. And I know it sounds so redundant, but, you know, it takes more than just the offense to be, you know, doing their thing and then, you know, defense falling off or vice versa. Right. It has to be all three on the same page. And. And unfortunately, that's, you know, kind of been the story over the. Over the few games.
[01:26:31] Speaker A: How big a loss is. Just not having GOK around. Do you think contributed to that?
[01:26:36] Speaker D: Oh, I bet. I mean, I know it's huge, man. Especially, you know, you think about these guys in locker room, can only imagine what type of leader he was, you know, so I'm sure he's in the locker room still. But just to have him on that field as, you know, the field Presence, you know, in that leader, captain type of guy. So it's. Yeah, I'm sure it was a huge blow for the defense.
[01:26:54] Speaker B: Yeah, I can only imagine a guy like that is never easy to replace. So with. With the season basically being over at this point, they were unfortunately eliminated from playoff contention officially this week.
So what changes do you foresee on the defense kind of coming up in the off season?
[01:27:19] Speaker D: So, I mean, kind of taking a step back and just thinking about the rest of this year. You know, I've unfortunately been in this situation in Cleveland a few times, you know, being out of the playoffs with, you know, still a month to go and really, you know, hoping guys still playing their best ball.
[01:27:35] Speaker E: Right.
[01:27:35] Speaker D: Because at this point, you know, it's, you know, guys have different kind of mindsets. You know, they think about more job security. Right. You know, coaches and players the same. So, you know, guys are still trying to get better and still put out their best. Their best tape at this point. But as far as defense going into next year, I mean, I feel like there's a couple different pieces, but I feel like there's a lot to build on and I think we have to be able to appreciate that we have a defense that we can build on. A lot of guys have, you know, a lot of teams start from scratch or, you know, what not. But for us, I think we just have to find a couple more pieces and just. And figure things out.
[01:28:14] Speaker B: Yeah, for sure. And I mean, you mentioned a big one. Like it's up in the air whether or not J. Okay. Is even going to be able to play again. So we may. May very well have a huge hole at lineback. I mean, we already were kind of thin at linebacker, but we. It may be even bigger after that. Yeah, but, yeah, you know, kind of in that same vein with off season moves, those types of things.
A big name that has started coming up recently is Miles Garrett. Do you think there's any chance they shop him for draft capital?
[01:28:47] Speaker D: Man, I hope not. But it just depends on where the GM and everyone's at as far as what they're thinking.
I think that would be a huge blow, not only to the team, but more so, you know, just the city of Cleveland. Right. You think about, you know, Miles, you think about Nick Chubby, you think about these staples on the team and to. To lose a piece like that, you know, could, you know, shake up a lot of different things.
[01:29:13] Speaker B: What if they. If they were to entertain it? Do you know, in. In your opinion, what would it take? What's he worth to, to actually trade him away as far as picks?
[01:29:24] Speaker E: Yeah.
[01:29:24] Speaker D: I mean, we're talking about a once in a generation talent. You know what I mean? I think he's, you know, got that skill set. It's kind of hard to put a price on that.
But I would say it's got to be a few first rounders at least. First two rounds, first couple rounds. So maybe one and two. Two ones and a two.
But it's got to be worth it if, if they do it.
[01:29:49] Speaker B: Yeah, absolutely. And we, we totally agree with you. We, we've said kind of all season long we don't.
Especially as the, the season has taken a turn and kind of gone in a tailspin. We've said we, we don't want Miles to be traded. But at the same time. Well, if you're trying to rebuild a team and from a place where we're at right now, I mean, draft capital is, is worth a lot.
[01:30:10] Speaker A: Well, it's one of those things where as fans we get, you get endeared to kind of all these players and you want everybody to stay, but the reality is you're three and ten. So where do we go from here? But yeah, I mean, certainly we don't want to see Miles moved, but certainly in the rumor mill.
[01:30:25] Speaker D: Yeah, you think about, you think about guys, you know, like Miles in, you know, he's in. I'm not even sure what year he's in. I know he's getting up there now, but for a guy that's been so committed to Cleveland, you know, you, and a part of you still wants that for him too. You know what I mean? Like, he still want him to have that, that you know, part of his career where he, you know, gets to the super bowl, does those things and you know, as we rebuild, you know, we, you know, hopefully we get there. But you want him to have a, you know, end of his career kind of a bang too.
[01:30:54] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah.
[01:30:55] Speaker A: Obviously we had the Steelers almost back to back there, so we had some, some little bit of foaming at the mouth between T.J. watt and, and Miles. Did you have any thoughts just on just the conversation that was going on there, you know, who's better, Defensive player of the year, the whole thing.
[01:31:09] Speaker D: Yeah.
[01:31:11] Speaker B: Oh yeah.
[01:31:11] Speaker D: I mean, I, honestly, it's, I, I love the competitiveness, especially, you know, having, you know, two of the best ends in the league in, in the same division. I mean, it's, it's, it's a, it's a beautiful thing. But you know, obviously I'll go with Miles every day.
[01:31:26] Speaker B: So I liked that after that first game, his post, you know, he didn't show up as much the second game, but I like the post game press conference from Miles after the first game against the Steelers when he was kind of like, they could talk all they want, but I'm the people guard me different. And I'm the best player on defense in this league, the best pass rusher there is. And everything runs through me because I like that so much. Because you don't get that out of Miles Garrett very often. He's very. I put my head down, I go to work, I do my thing, and, you know, my play will speak for itself. But it felt good just seeing a moment where Miles accepted it and he said, look, I know how good I am.
[01:32:11] Speaker A: Yeah.
[01:32:12] Speaker B: So it kind of. It was awesome to see.
[01:32:16] Speaker D: It kind of reminds you of, I think you remember when LeBron was in this press conference, like, I'm the best player in the world. You know what I mean? It's just like you love to see the player that, you know, is it. To accept it. You know what I mean? And obviously there's a difference between cocky and confident.
[01:32:30] Speaker E: So.
[01:32:31] Speaker B: Yeah. And since then, he hasn't, you know, he's gone back to normal. Normal. Miles Garrett, he just puts his head down and he works and you don't hear it again. And it is what it is. So, yeah, again, don't want him to go. But, you know, like you said, I'm thinking if somebody's offering two first rounders, it's going to be really hard to turn down. So.
[01:32:51] Speaker A: Yeah, John, I know, you know, you. You read up Nick Chubb as well. I think he's on an expiring contract this year. Do you think there's enough goodwill just with the fan base and just the fact that fans would want him back, that this front office is going to do something to. To retain him in the off season?
[01:33:09] Speaker D: Yeah. I mean, I feel like, like you said, the fans and the organization as well love Nick Chubb. And it's. It's one of these things like we. We kind of knew going into this year we wanted to see him play, period, this year. Right.
And obviously he's not putting up the numbers that he's put in past years. So it's really what the upper management thinks, you know, moving into next year with what they. What they want to do and if they have the confidence that he's going to get back to that, that prime. Nick Chubb.
[01:33:40] Speaker B: Yeah, for sure. And we all want him to so bad because is, there's, there's in my opinion as a Browns fan and sorry, John, but Nick Chubb is my favorite Cleveland Brown of all time.
He's just, he just embodies the city so well. Second, of course is John Hughes. Yeah, but yeah, so he just, just everything about him is exactly. It's just the Cleveland Browns. He is the Cleveland Browns, hardworking, blue.
[01:34:11] Speaker A: Collar, just tough it out.
[01:34:13] Speaker B: And so I would love to see them at least try and do right by him. And you know, obviously it's a, we all know it's a business. You can't go out there and vastly overpay for him, but at least give him enough to where it makes him think like, okay, maybe I should finish my career here. You guys took care of me well enough that maybe that's what I do.
So we'll see. But let's get into this week's game. This week, the Browns, obviously they've got Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs. It's a tall, tall task for the defense and the offense for that because now they have a top 10 defense which they haven't always had. So what's the, what are kind of the keys to success this week, especially on defense that you see for the Browns?
[01:34:55] Speaker D: On defense, I think, you know, we've said it before and it's always kind of my staple being the run stopping type of defensive lineman. But you know, you have to control the run first, right. You have to have them earn the right to pass. But with Patrick Mahomes, you know, just being able to contain him, right, you know, he gets out of the pocket and he makes plays and he, you know, does what he does. So just I contain him, Mahomes and just getting off the field, and I've said it before, but getting off the field on third down is crucial. Extending drives just takes time away from your offense to be able to get out on the field. And where's your defense out? You know what I mean? You got to play complimentary ball. So.
[01:35:35] Speaker A: Obviously there's a familiar face in that Kansas City back backfield with Kareem Hunt.
Do you put any stock in that just as a former player, just that there's any kind of advantage there. Just kind of knowing, you know, Kareem, his running style more personally just because he played here for a number of years or is it just really doesn't matter because it's a whole new offense and a new system and you're just prepping for the week as a goes by?
[01:35:59] Speaker D: Yeah, I feel like it's the same prep. You know, I've played backs that I've played with during the year, but, you know, obviously you have to go against a different O line, but you know what I mean? So it's. It's all. It's all about prepping, really, for the. For the offensive line and understanding formations. But, yeah, I mean, on, you know, looking at it from, you know, Kareem side, it's. It's always fun playing your old team. You know what I mean? You have a little bit extra pep in your step throughout that week, and so.
[01:36:28] Speaker B: Yeah, for sure.
So do you. Do you have a score prediction this week?
Are the Browns going to be able to do it? Are they going to pull the upset? What do you think?
[01:36:40] Speaker D: So, for me, I feel like it's going to be a close one. And I say that just because you feel like Casey is going to come into Cleveland, obviously seeing our record. Record and before they step on the field and. And feeling like, you know, like we've already talked about, they've clinched the playoffs. So for them, you know, they're kind of in maintenance mode, almost not, you know what I mean, trying to get to the end of the year, you know, healthy and strong, but for us, we got to be, you know, in a sense, party crashers.
[01:37:08] Speaker B: Right.
[01:37:08] Speaker D: They're already making the playoffs, but, you know, trying to get that. Get that extra win at the end of the season to, you know, cap off, you know, what has been an unfortunate year. So.
[01:37:20] Speaker B: Yeah, I mean, if nothing else, maybe we affect the seating, Right?
[01:37:23] Speaker D: Yeah. Yeah. I mean, whatever it is. Right. But, you know, I. I just think about being, you know, like being the guy in the locker room.
[01:37:29] Speaker A: Right?
[01:37:29] Speaker E: It's.
[01:37:30] Speaker D: You're really trying to put your best tape out there right now because unfortunately, being on a team like this this year, you're. You're playing for next year pretty much already this year, so being able to play your best ball and. Yeah. Get it done for sure. So we're talking about predictions, right?
[01:37:52] Speaker A: Yeah. Do you have a score prediction?
[01:37:54] Speaker D: Yeah, let me. Let me. Let me think of the score.
[01:37:59] Speaker B: It just now hit me like he tried to. He tried to dodge the whole score thing.
We never let you slide.
[01:38:11] Speaker D: Let's go.
24, 21, Browns.
[01:38:19] Speaker B: Wow.
[01:38:20] Speaker A: He's got faith in Dustin Hopkins.
[01:38:21] Speaker B: We got two guests this week. Yeah, you do have faith in Dustin Hopkins. That's impressive.
We've got two guests this week that have the Browns and a close one. This is.
[01:38:30] Speaker A: I like it.
[01:38:31] Speaker B: Yeah. I mean, I love the optimism. I really? Do I wish that at this point in the season I had more of your optimism?
I honestly wish that I had it. I don't. It's been really hard this year, especially because of the expectations coming in, so.
[01:38:48] Speaker D: Yeah, well, I mean, honestly, you know, playing, like I said, playing in Cleveland for the five years that I did, and unfortunately, being in this situation, like this was my mentality. Right. You know, you go into every game thinking, you know, you're trying to put your best film out there, you're trying to play your best ball. I mean, I remember when I. I had. Was up for my second contract and I was out for, like, the last eight games almost of the year, and I got to play in the very last game against the Ravens, and I was just playing lights out just because I knew that was, like, my shot for my next contract. And guys almost, you know, treating this like, even if they're not on contract, right? Treating it like their job is at stake just because, you know, you never know if it is or not.
[01:39:31] Speaker B: Yeah, for sure. And that's something I think that gets overlooked by fans is the fact that they just look at it and, you know, we all say, well, the Browns are having a disappointing year. They're 3 and 10. They're eliminated from the playoffs. They're just going to roll over and quit. But it's their job. To your point, this is their livelihood. This is what they do. And not everybody out there is a Miles Garrett, so not everybody out there has that kind of contract where they're not playing for their. For a job because Miles Garrett, let's be honest, like, even if they did trade, like, he's going to get another big extension from somebody, he's going to be just fine. But there's plenty of guys out there that are playing for a lot more than that. So, yeah, most definitely got to dig.
[01:40:11] Speaker A: Deep and find that. Why?
[01:40:12] Speaker B: Yep, yep, yep.
[01:40:14] Speaker A: So I got. I think we're wrapping up here, but I got one just random question, John. Just something that I've always kind of thought in my mind that I was curious about.
It's not bad. Starts with I, you know, I hear all that you're watching like, Hard Knocks or some of these documentaries at the quarterbacks and stuff, and you hear the cadence of plays being called in an offensive huddle a lot, and it's these kind of like, mouthfuls of word vomit that go out. And I know that you got to tell. You got to call out your protection, you're calling out your routes and your backs and everything. Else. So in a defensive huddle, is.
[01:40:50] Speaker B: Is.
[01:40:50] Speaker A: Is the. The vernacular is verbose in a defensive file for, like, a play call? Do you have an example of just a play call that you guys ran when you were with the Browns or with any team? Just like, what. What does a defensive play call sound like in a huddle?
[01:41:07] Speaker D: Let's see.
It really depends on the team, but usually, you know, you have your. Your.
Your front, your coverage and a blitz attached to it. So you're looking at. I mean, let's see.
I mean, that's funny. I can't think of one off the top of my head. If you gave me a second, I probably would, but it's. It's.
[01:41:33] Speaker E: It's.
[01:41:34] Speaker D: It's always.
[01:41:34] Speaker A: I just was curious.
[01:41:36] Speaker B: You're always doing this.
[01:41:37] Speaker D: It's. It's at least, like, at least four to five words with it, with the coverage behind it. You know what I mean?
But like I said, it's, you know, if. And that's the thing, too. If you have defensive stunts inside of it. So, like, they'll add like a. An X or a text or, you know, whatever it is, whatever the defensive line calls are. But yeah, you'll have about four or five different words. But honestly, it's. It's funny because, like, when you hear all these.
Them saying all these different things, there's like, so say the offensive lines listening, right? They're only. They're only listening for, like, maybe the first two things, and then everything else doesn't matter. That them. Right. Or if they're the receiver, they're listening. They don't care about the front, right. They're. They're thinking about, like, the last maybe four or five or last two or three parts of the. Of the cadence. So the quarterback's really the one that has a hard job that has to, you know, or the linebacker that has to say the call. But everybody's, like, trying to key into that one specific part they need.
[01:42:34] Speaker B: Yeah. To that. To that point. I mean, I just remember back to. Not. Yeah. Not that I was anywhere near your level, John, but I just remember back to college and, like, when, you know, they'd make the play, call on defense, and when they said Robert, I was like, okay, I know exactly what we're doing now.
[01:42:47] Speaker D: So, like, you can walk away at that point and still run the play.
[01:42:49] Speaker B: Yeah.
It doesn't matter after that. So I was just curious.
[01:42:53] Speaker A: I appreciate you taking us behind the curtain.
[01:42:55] Speaker B: Yeah.
[01:42:55] Speaker D: Oh, yeah.
[01:42:56] Speaker A: Yeah.
[01:42:57] Speaker D: Most definitely.
[01:42:59] Speaker B: Well, well. Hey, John. Here's to. Here's to some of your optimism bleeding over onto us and onto the Browns themselves.
[01:43:06] Speaker A: Christmas time.
[01:43:07] Speaker B: Yeah, let's let Christmas come early. We want to win against the chief Chiefs. Nobody likes the Chiefs. Let's be honest. Like, unless you're in Kansas City, nobody likes the Chiefs anymore. So. Although I do know you have a tie to.
Yeah, you have a tie to a friend over there. But that's. That's a whole other. Whole other subject.
[01:43:24] Speaker D: But I was going to say they. They look at the Kansas City like they did in New England when I was, like, growing up and through my time in the league.
[01:43:36] Speaker B: Yeah, we all hate them. Yeah, they hate us because they ain't us. That's what they say. But no. Hey, John, thanks so much for joining us. We really appreciate it. I hope to have you on again soon. Maybe next week. Did you know. Did you know that next week is our hundredth episode, John?
[01:43:56] Speaker D: The big hundred.
Awesome.
[01:44:00] Speaker B: Yes.
I may be in touch this week. We may be in search of some guests.
[01:44:06] Speaker A: Okay.
[01:44:07] Speaker B: Might have it back.
All right. Again, John, thanks so much. We really appreciate it.
[01:44:12] Speaker A: Thanks, John.
[01:44:13] Speaker D: I appreciate you guys, man. Thanks.
[01:44:29] Speaker B: Always good having John on.
[01:44:32] Speaker A: I love John. He's.
[01:44:34] Speaker B: He's my second favorite Brown of all time.
[01:44:36] Speaker A: Second favorite Brown of all time. I think John. Sometimes John's like a little bit guarded during his interviews, but John really has one of the best personalities, especially any of the, like, let's just look at alumni guys we've had a chance to interact with. Like, he's just a super, just like easy going guy.
But look, I, you know, John said like, he's been on teams like this. The reality is just kind of sucks. I mean, it's true, gal. Like, each one of these guys has to find their why. And whether that's playing for a contract next year, trying to be a Cleveland Brown next year, or putting good tape together, like, that's the only thing that kind of keeps this thing together right now.
[01:45:10] Speaker B: It makes me think that, like, those. Those players that are not necessarily like the top guys on the Browns roster right now, but like, like the Diabodies. Like, does diabody have a massive game? Force a couple fumbles, like, do something big. And he's like, yeah, see, that's why somebody should pay me somewhere.
[01:45:24] Speaker A: Well, yeah, like who? Who. Who force the fumble? Gosh, I can't remember now that Miles recovered. It was.
Was it Winston Reed, Little punch out, right? Yeah, but it was somebody that wasn't.
[01:45:38] Speaker B: Like, that's what I'm saying. Like, you need guys like that step.
[01:45:41] Speaker A: Up and yeah, it's time.
[01:45:42] Speaker B: So.
[01:45:44] Speaker C: Yeah, that was fascinating inside. Just like the. The kind of the behind the scenes, like, yeah, what are guys kind of thinking right now? And, you know, you're out of it, but people are playing because you're putting film out there. You want to get another contract or picked up by another team and still get another shot.
[01:46:00] Speaker B: There's really no such thing as just, like, rolling over on the season because there's always something to play for.
[01:46:05] Speaker A: Yeah, I mean, to your point, like, a guy like Miles. Like, a guy like Miles can roll over because, like, he's got $100 million contract guarantee coming his way, like, no big deal. But if you're one of those fringe guys or even just a. Just a role player on the team, right? Like, you're there to fill a gap that, like, isn't filled by a super star right now. You're playing to either be on this team next year or to be on someone else's. So, you know, we. We tend to forget that as fans. That, like, this is just. It's a job. I mean, it's the whole business aspect of it. And they got to dig down deep and figure out how to play with some pride because things aren't going well and this team's just not good. So fair. You try not to get embarrassed on TV.
[01:46:42] Speaker B: And with that, let's. Let's round out our week 15 preview with our players to watch. Bone, who's your player to watch this week?
[01:46:49] Speaker C: Player to watch. I'll go Njoku.
Hoping he gets back into the end zone.
Yeah, just give him seven, eight, nine catches this week.
[01:46:59] Speaker B: Fair. I think he had seven last week, so that's a good one. Kenny, who's your player to watch?
[01:47:05] Speaker A: No one. This team isn't worth spending four hours on a Sunday watching. Stick with us for two hours each Thursday, we'll break everything you need to know all of these you can use to keep up with this miserable lot.
[01:47:16] Speaker B: My player to watch is Jerry Judy.
He's been the dog of the week two weeks in a row.
He's the only consistent player for the last, I don't know, six games or so. So if he has a down game, we're going to lose by 30.
So that's why he's my player to watch. It's time to get gassed up.
[01:47:35] Speaker A: I'll go. I'll go.
[01:47:36] Speaker B: Oh, you got one now.
[01:47:37] Speaker A: I'll go. Just because nobody said I'll go. Nick Chubb.
[01:47:40] Speaker B: Nick Chubb.
[01:47:41] Speaker A: I think. I think he's ran harder like last week. I Think he ran harder. The hardest that I've seen him run has been. So hopefully we continue to see upward progression from him.
[01:47:50] Speaker C: Chubb versus Hunt.
[01:47:51] Speaker B: Oh, yeah. We got the chunk on the field again back together. Kind of.
[01:47:55] Speaker A: We love chunt.
[01:47:56] Speaker B: We love chunt. It sounds so dirty every time I say it.
Let's get gassed up, guys.
All right, guys, it's that time again.
[01:48:25] Speaker A: What time is it?
[01:48:26] Speaker B: Anything. Getting. Getting us gassed up. I'm gonna go first.
[01:48:29] Speaker A: All right, we'll let you go first.
[01:48:30] Speaker B: Let's get me gassed up. Folding laundry. Folding laundry's the worst. York. He's sorry.
[01:48:37] Speaker A: We're gonna k. York sighting on Monday football.
[01:48:39] Speaker B: There he is.
[01:48:39] Speaker C: Wow. He's Cincinnati's kicker, Chase McLaughlin.
[01:48:42] Speaker A: He's at least their kickoff specialist.
[01:48:44] Speaker C: Okay.
[01:48:45] Speaker B: I wonder if. I wonder if McLaughlin got hurt.
[01:48:47] Speaker A: Might be. Might be why you almost was an extra point earlier.
[01:48:49] Speaker B: Yeah.
But, yeah, folding laundry for me is the big one. You know, you're doing chores around the house. It's literally my least favorite chore. Like, I would rather clean toilets than fold laundry. Like, putting the laundry in. No problem. Switching the laundry from the washer to the dryer, no problem. But then that's where it ends. As things dry, they just become a giant pile in our house. And as we do more and more laundry, it's like a. Like a constant battle of will with my wife. Like, and not. Not even really that we're battling. It's more so that we're both just in agreement. We don't want to fold laundry. And so the pile gets bigger and bigger, and then you just find clean clothes out of the big pile of clean clothes.
[01:49:29] Speaker C: Unfolding kids clothes is the worst.
[01:49:31] Speaker B: Yeah. They're so small, and it's like, I folded so many kids clothes, I didn't put a dent in this thing. What's the point?
Why has something not been invented that you just throw all your laundry in and it comes out folded?
[01:49:42] Speaker A: That's a good point.
[01:49:43] Speaker B: Like, that would be. That would be the invention of a lifetime. Like, you would be so rich.
[01:49:48] Speaker A: You should invent that.
[01:49:49] Speaker B: I can't. I'm not smart enough. I'm not an engineer. I'm an idiot.
[01:49:52] Speaker A: Put some thoughts on paper.
[01:49:56] Speaker B: Make a machine that folds laundry.
[01:49:58] Speaker A: You don't need a machine. You need, like, a gadget. Like a. Like, two sticks.
[01:50:01] Speaker C: There are those, like, cardboard things, but I think they make them out of plastic. At, like, the. You know, the stores, like, J.C. penney's has them, and their associates use them to fold clothes. But it's like a big like almost like folder looking thing.
[01:50:14] Speaker B: Yeah.
[01:50:14] Speaker C: But I mean, shaped like a rectangle.
[01:50:16] Speaker B: Even that it doesn't make it that much. And there's still a lot of manual effort into this. I'm talking about something you just throw all your clothes in and they pop out the other end folder.
[01:50:24] Speaker A: Maybe you just need a lesson from like an Abercrombie folder.
[01:50:27] Speaker B: Do you want punched in the throat?
[01:50:29] Speaker A: No. I don't disagree with you. I hate folding laundry too.
[01:50:31] Speaker B: It's the worst.
[01:50:32] Speaker A: We, we've definitely lived the laundry basket life where you're just like, ah, we didn't fold anything, but they're in there.
[01:50:39] Speaker B: Live it like it's literally my life every day. Like, that's what we do.
[01:50:43] Speaker A: I hang a lot of my shirts, so I dread when like, Christine does a lot of just like division of labor in the house. Like she does the most laundry, but I dread when she's like, hey, can you hang your shirts up? And I'm like, God damn, there's 30 shirts to hang up and I gotta hang them all up.
[01:50:58] Speaker B: That's the easy one. I love shirts that get hung up because I'm like, oh, look, I don't have to fold it.
[01:51:02] Speaker A: I hate it. It's the worst. Just, I just hate touching a wet cotton and stuff. Oh. Just gives me these creeps.
[01:51:08] Speaker C: Weird.
[01:51:09] Speaker B: That's a new one.
[01:51:10] Speaker C: That is new.
[01:51:11] Speaker B: Weird, man.
[01:51:12] Speaker A: You don't like wet cotton. You like touching clothes. Yeah. Just like the texture of it, like, gives me goosebumps.
[01:51:18] Speaker B: Doesn't do anything to me at all.
[01:51:20] Speaker A: Like nails on a chalkboard.
[01:51:21] Speaker B: That's weird.
[01:51:22] Speaker A: Yeah.
[01:51:23] Speaker B: I learned something new about you every so often.
[01:51:26] Speaker A: I don't like, I can just like, I can smell water. Like, I hate doing, like, doing dishes by hand because, like, I could just the water smell like, just the water smell of like. And now that our water smells like anything, it's just. It's just wet. The smell of wet. I hate the smell of wet.
[01:51:40] Speaker C: Yeah.
[01:51:41] Speaker B: Is that what you're gassed up about now? Yeah.
[01:51:43] Speaker A: I hate the smell of wet. I'm gassed up on your gassed up.
[01:51:46] Speaker B: Oh, man. Yeah. Folding laundry. I don't want to do it. Fuck laundry.
Bone, what do you got stuff on?
[01:51:53] Speaker C: Well, I got it.
[01:51:53] Speaker B: I got extra.
[01:51:53] Speaker C: Actually got a good one. I'm happy about it.
[01:51:57] Speaker B: Oh, like, you're like, this is always exciting.
[01:51:59] Speaker C: Yeah, it's exciting. It's kind of a shout out. So this weekend we went around the Hudson area and looked at lights. Okay. And there's Some cool areas to go. Just look at some cool lights. Western Reserve Academy has this tree that literally has 75,000, like incandescent white lights on it.
[01:52:18] Speaker A: Wow.
[01:52:18] Speaker C: And it's like for the 200th anniversary of it being a school or something. And it's like this is like a deciduous tree that's wrapped. And this tree is probably 50ft tall. And it is. Every branch is wrapped and it is just like one of the coolest looking things I've ever seen.
[01:52:31] Speaker B: Incandescent, too.
[01:52:32] Speaker C: That wasn't even the first thing about the night, but the night went well. And they had winter fireworks in the city this weekend.
[01:52:40] Speaker B: I like that.
[01:52:41] Speaker C: And I had never seen fireworks in the wintertime and there was snow on the ground and we had like the whole family and a bunch of kids kind of out there just watching winter fireworks. And it was a really cool night. So I was just pumped up. Give City Hudson a shout out because it was a cool. It was a cool production.
[01:52:55] Speaker B: Hell yes.
[01:52:56] Speaker A: Nice work, Hudson.
[01:52:57] Speaker B: Good job, buddy.
[01:52:58] Speaker A: Yeah, that's Hudson.
[01:53:00] Speaker B: A boy or a girl?
[01:53:01] Speaker A: Let's not go there.
You know, that's a bomb of a question these days.
[01:53:06] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Kenny, what's getting you guys?
[01:53:09] Speaker A: I feel like that's what Christmas, like Christmas season is all about though, right? Like just that time he's spend with family and friends, like doing cool, like, weird. Just things like that.
[01:53:18] Speaker B: You said incandescence, too. That I caught on to that.
[01:53:21] Speaker C: Well, maybe I'm just talking about like the color of the light. They're probably all LEDs, but I just, you know, like that old school color of light.
[01:53:26] Speaker B: Yeah.
[01:53:27] Speaker C: That we all used to have in our homes.
[01:53:28] Speaker B: Yeah.
[01:53:28] Speaker C: That's what the color of the tree was.
[01:53:30] Speaker B: Yeah, I just. I was just gonna say that. I mean, if they are indeed all incandescent, they're probably using more power on that tree.
[01:53:36] Speaker C: They're definitely. They're definitely LEDs. But that it was the, like, the color.
[01:53:40] Speaker B: The warmth of the light. I get it. Warm, white. Warm white. Warm white.
[01:53:43] Speaker A: It was iridescent.
[01:53:44] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah. Something.
What are you gassed up about?
[01:53:48] Speaker A: Oh, what am I gassed up about?
[01:53:49] Speaker B: This hole.
[01:53:50] Speaker A: I'm so gassed up.
I'll tell you what I'm gassed about.
A scourge, a plague that's ruining the world. What is it in the world that we live in where everything's on demand and everything is such fingertips, and we live in this instant gratification world.
We all have high speed Internet, except you, whether you're on The Internet or on a network. We have a high speed, you know, access to high speed Internet.
[01:54:22] Speaker B: I just love Bones comment. Except you.
[01:54:26] Speaker A: Whether you're on network or you're on your own WI Fi, you're on.
You've actually Internet.
[01:54:32] Speaker B: Okay.
[01:54:34] Speaker A: I hate buffering.
I hate when it doesn't work. Right. And here's what I mean specifically about. Buffering is not the issues we run into in the studio. It's more or less like I'll be watching a video, like on Facebook, like a reel, right? And it'll be right at the climax of the video. It's almost like there's somebody at Facebook fucking with me. They're like, oh, you're in the middle of watching this video. I'm gonna stop at, right, the part you wanna see. And now your Internet goes out and you can replay the video as many times you want. You can rewind it. It's gonna stop at that exact same spot every time.
[01:55:09] Speaker B: Of course.
[01:55:10] Speaker A: It's like the moment that, like, the guy is gonna fly off the slide. It's like as soon as he hits the air, it's like, oh, buffering. Can't watch him do flips. Can't watch it. Like, you know, a pretty girl's gonna, like, bend over. As soon as she bends. Is buffering just done the end of the video? Like, they're about to cut the steak. Like, as soon as they put the knife and buffering.
[01:55:29] Speaker B: This brings up a whole new class of videos that we should start doing.
[01:55:33] Speaker A: Girls bending over and cutting steak.
[01:55:35] Speaker B: Nope, nope, nope, nope. We'll talk about it off air.
[01:55:39] Speaker A: You broke the fourth wall again.
[01:55:40] Speaker B: Yeah, I caught myself. I can't let you guys have my ideas.
[01:55:44] Speaker C: I still want to do the splashes video.
[01:55:46] Speaker B: We'll talk about that later.
[01:55:47] Speaker A: Yeah, I can't do that. No. But it just pisses me off because I swear there's somebody, like, behind in my phone that is literally stopping the mood. Like, the video at the most inopportune time.
[01:55:58] Speaker B: It's me.
[01:55:59] Speaker A: Like, the moment that, like, there's something. Something profound is finally said or something actually happens is when the buffering starts. Why would the Internet only be bad right at that moment that something's happening? Why isn't it bad for the first 12 seconds of the video when nothing's happening? It only happens at the climax of the video.
And it pisses me off.
[01:56:21] Speaker C: It's part of your simulation.
[01:56:24] Speaker B: How does that make you feel? It makes me feel gassed up and.
[01:56:28] Speaker A: I don't like it.
[01:56:29] Speaker B: Yeah, I mean, I've had that happen to me before, too. And it's very unfortunate. And it makes me angry.
[01:56:34] Speaker A: Yeah, it's real shitty.
[01:56:36] Speaker B: It makes me gassed up. I'm pissed. Yes, I'm pissed for you. I'm just making fun of you right now. That's why I'm not getting more gassed up. But that really is annoying.
[01:56:43] Speaker A: Well, F you then.
[01:56:44] Speaker B: Yeah. Yeah.
[01:56:45] Speaker A: F them all.
[01:56:46] Speaker B: F them. F them all. Whoa, what's that? Time for the Burning River Throwdown. That ho down.
Did you guys dance with us that time? I hope you did. I hope you did. I hope you did. We're gonna keep doing it.
[01:57:15] Speaker A: And if you didn't, you're wrong.
[01:57:17] Speaker B: That was the last one for this show, but we'll do it next time.
Guys, let's get into the King of the North.
[01:57:23] Speaker A: North.
I've been trying to catch more South Park. It's funny. Yeah.
[01:57:46] Speaker B: Kenny, you ready?
[01:57:47] Speaker A: No.
[01:57:48] Speaker B: All right. In case anyone doesn't know by now, this is our year long AFC north pickup competition at the end of the season. Whoever comes in last place in the preseason. Last year, Kenny had a gross effect thrown at him by fans in the media lot before a game in the preseason this year, Kenny had his entire head of hair and beard shaved clean off. He donated all. Good job.
[01:58:04] Speaker A: Yeah, thanks.
[01:58:06] Speaker B: Punishment this season will be you have to go to a public pool, get in, and then publicly announce that you have peed in said pool. And in case that is illegal, you will have to eat as many hot dogs as you can until you vomit.
And so, Kenny, are you excited to do this?
[01:58:24] Speaker A: Yeah. Let's do it.
[01:58:25] Speaker B: You're just going to gag yourself with the first hot dog.
[01:58:27] Speaker C: You should do it at, like, Brown's tailgate, but then have, like, a fan come up and eat one with you. Like, multiple people.
[01:58:32] Speaker B: Like, you have to eat one for one.
[01:58:35] Speaker C: Like every fan that comes up and eats a hot dog with you.
[01:58:37] Speaker B: Everybody get in line. You want a hot dog? We'll give them out for free. Yeah. Hell yes. But let's get into this thing.
First things first. I want to remind everyone that Bone is the reigning defender and king of the North. Kenny, you're a clown. Let's remind everyone of what the current records are after week 14.
Bone, 24, 19. You're in first place. Me, 20, 23. I'm in second. Kenny, you're in last place at 18, 25. You suck. All right, let's get into this week's games. The Ravens head to New York to take on the Giants. Kenny, who you got.
[01:59:08] Speaker A: Let'S go Giants. No, Ravens. The Giants are ass. Ravens are coming off a buy. Should be quick work for this Baltimore team.
[01:59:16] Speaker B: Yep, I got the Ravens too. All the same reasons, Bone.
[01:59:19] Speaker C: Yeah, Ravens must, must win for them. I mean they got to win it.
[01:59:22] Speaker B: Yeah, easy one there. Next up, Cincinnati will be in Tennessee taking on the Titans. Bone, who you got?
[01:59:28] Speaker C: Cincinnati.
[01:59:30] Speaker B: Nice.
[01:59:30] Speaker C: We'll defeat the Tennessee Titans.
[01:59:33] Speaker B: The Tennessee Titans are ass. I got Cincinnati as well. Kenny going mark.
[01:59:37] Speaker A: We're down for Cincy as well. Tennessee is, Tennessee is quietly, I think the worst, worst team in the league. They're really, really, really bad.
[01:59:43] Speaker B: Yeah, especially since they didn't they trade away a bunch of people at the trade deadline and like outside of Tony.
[01:59:47] Speaker A: Pollard, there is not a single good player on that football team.
[01:59:50] Speaker B: Yeah, they're bad.
Next up, Steelers going across Pennsylvania to Philly to take on the Eagles. This is probably the toughest pick of the night. Yeah, I'm going to take Philly in this one. I think they do it at home.
Two good football teams here, but I'm going to take Philly on this one. Kenny, who you got?
[02:00:15] Speaker A: I got Philly as well. Saquon Barkley is really, really good. He just set the Eagles all time franchise rushing record.
I know they've got a little bit of heartburn there over what's going on in the past game. I. AJ Brown was bitching about things so we'll see. I saw a weird stat that like when Jalen hurts the games, the Jalen hurts rushes more in or they're they're like 50 and two and in games where like he doesn't have any carries, they're like 16 and like 30. So probably not like the best sign for an offense that like you can only win if your quarterback is super mobile.
But they're just been on a tear, so I'll go Philly.
[02:00:56] Speaker B: Bone.
[02:00:57] Speaker C: Yeah, Philly beat. Beat up on Baltimore a couple weeks ago. I think they're pretty good. I'm going to go Philly as well.
[02:01:05] Speaker B: All right, Philly across the board. This is really boring this week, guys. And then finally the Browns will be in Kansas City. So barring something crazy, we all picked all the same team. So I'm going to go first. The Chiefs. I got them in this one. 26 to 16 and that's being generous.
Bone, who you got?
[02:01:22] Speaker C: I also will go Chiefs.
Let's do 27 to 24.
[02:01:28] Speaker B: Okay. And Kenny, who you got?
[02:01:31] Speaker A: Chiefs 31 10.
[02:01:32] Speaker B: Whoa. Yeah, that's bad.
So yeah, it's. We all have the Chiefs, we all having a blowout, so nothing's going to change this week. We also all have Cincinnati on Monday night, so.
[02:01:46] Speaker A: Well, look, I'm 18 to 25, so I just need four wins here to, like, bring me back to above water. Like, I'll pick against you guys when the time is right, but I can't afford to be losing games. I like that on a whim right now.
[02:01:56] Speaker B: You're like a. You're like a mongoose laying in waves.
[02:01:59] Speaker A: I actually think the only one you.
[02:02:01] Speaker C: Could take a chance on this week is picking the Steelers. But it's like I was going to say.
[02:02:03] Speaker A: I think. I actually disagree. I think the game to pick would have been Browns kc.
[02:02:08] Speaker C: Okay.
[02:02:08] Speaker A: I just think that it's a trap game for Kansas City, so. And the Browns are at home. Jameis could light it up. I mean, if Jamis in the offense gets hot, it's a shootout. There's absolutely a chance the Browns could win this game. But on paper, I mean, the Chiefs should win this game handily.
[02:02:23] Speaker C: So I know in my lifetime, Browns have beaten New England after they won the super bowl next year. And I believe New Orleans.
[02:02:28] Speaker A: It's just sometimes good teams get complacent. They just had the division winner. Like, they may be just looking past the Browns at this point, but. But on paper, they should on us. So I can't pick the Browns. I'm sorry.
[02:02:39] Speaker B: Fair.
[02:02:39] Speaker A: Fair.
[02:02:41] Speaker B: All right. And that'll do it for King of the North. Let me remind everybody to call the Burger Sports Tax.
Burning River Sports guest on a hot take outline. Be like everybody.
Be like angry Bobby.
[02:02:57] Speaker A: Be angry Bobby. Don't be angry. Just be like Bobby.
[02:02:59] Speaker B: You know what the key is to not being angry is you're always angry. It's like.
[02:03:06] Speaker A: I'm Thor.
[02:03:07] Speaker B: Yeah.
Remember, these are hot takes too. We don't want none of that pussy skull.
[02:03:13] Speaker A: Wow. He dropped a B bomb.
Wow. He went there. Yeah, I ain't believing that out either. I'm leaving.
[02:03:19] Speaker B: Yeah, we want some hot take. 3302-2780-8033-0278 080330, 227-808-03-202278 call now. Operators are not standing by, but we'll put you on the air. And be sure to check out our gear. Wwedia.com access shop Kenny, that'll do it for us. What can we expect next week?

Recapping the Browns probable loss in Week 15 against the Chiefs should be on right around 8pm Bringing you some good.
[02:03:52] Speaker B: Old fashioned shitting on the Browns.
[02:03:54] Speaker A: Yeah, I mean, look, we're going to cross our fingers in our nuts and everything else and hope they do something good.
Next Thursday we'll be back with our Week 16 preview for the game against the Cincinnati Bengals. In fact, that show will be our 100th episode. So we'll play them some festivities, but at the very least we'll have a Brown Specters interview out of Cincinnati.
[02:04:17] Speaker B: This I want to get the glasses that we could wear all during the show that like the 100 glasses.
[02:04:21] Speaker A: Yeah, we should get some of those. The sin day lucky dogs out of sins. Probably Kentucky. I don't know.
[02:04:27] Speaker B: Get it Sunday, Sunday, Sunday.
[02:04:31] Speaker A: But anyway, this is a big deal for us. 100th episode, big milestone. Took us a while to get here, but we're here now. We're here. We have staying power. Yeah, you're stuck listening to us.

[02:05:06] Speaker B: Football podcast and so many more. And you know what that takes us to? Cadets.
[02:05:22] Speaker A: It's West Arm again.
[02:05:23] Speaker C: You remind me of Steven Tyler.
[02:05:25] Speaker B: Yeah, the build.
[02:05:30] Speaker A: Now you guys are just with me.
[02:05:33] Speaker B: Kenny, what do you got? You got some whale facts for us yet?
[02:05:36] Speaker A: No.
[02:05:37] Speaker B: Every time you say no, I'm just disappointed.
[02:05:39] Speaker A: There's only so many facts about whales.
[02:05:41] Speaker B: I don't know. They're pretty big.
[02:05:43] Speaker C: Endless.
[02:05:44] Speaker B: They're pretty big. I bet you can find more.
[02:05:46] Speaker A: You know, I do have for you though.
[02:05:47] Speaker B: What?
[02:05:48] Speaker A: Facts about polar bears.
[02:05:49] Speaker B: Polar bear facts? Hell yes. I mean, this is. This might be a close second.
[02:05:53] Speaker A: Number one. Number one. In a full, full sprint, a 900 pound male polar bear can reach speeds of 25 miles per hour.
[02:06:01] Speaker C: That's terrifying.
[02:06:02] Speaker B: Whoa.
[02:06:02] Speaker A: They will eat your ass.
What does not like your ass? But they will catch your ass.
[02:06:08] Speaker C: Oh yeah.
[02:06:09] Speaker B: What's Tyree Kill's top speed?
[02:06:12] Speaker A: Yeah, at 24 miles an hour.
[02:06:13] Speaker B: So yeah, that's his top speed.
[02:06:15] Speaker A: Dang. He would outrun Tyreek Hill. In fact, that's just like an average sized adult male polar bear.
[02:06:21] Speaker B: That's not even the fastest they can.
[02:06:22] Speaker A: Well, they can grow. I was gonna say they can grow, be bigger. They can grow to be about 1200 pounds. Male polar bears.
[02:06:26] Speaker B: What?
[02:06:27] Speaker A: Just imagine a 1200 pound animal running 30 miles an hour.
It's insane.
[02:06:33] Speaker B: Number two, I don't want to imagine it. I'm scared.
[02:06:36] Speaker A: Polar bears have a keen sense of smell and are always smelling for sources of food. Their main source of food. Seals.
[02:06:44] Speaker B: Of course. Yeah.
[02:06:45] Speaker A: They can smell a seal from a full mile away and as deep as 3ft below compacted snow.
[02:06:56] Speaker C: Well, that's wild.
[02:06:58] Speaker A: They smell through the ground.
[02:06:59] Speaker B: You hear that? Bears.
[02:07:01] Speaker A: Bears.
[02:07:01] Speaker B: Now you're putting the whole station in jeopardy.
[02:07:04] Speaker A: Number three, polar bears, also very intelligent mammals.
One thing that they do is touch noses to communicate in order to share food. If a passing bear spots a kill already being feasted on, it will approach the dominant bear and carefully touch noses asking for permission to share.
Just like red hot running jams right now. Banging his nose on his microphone.
[02:07:29] Speaker B: Banging on a trash can.
[02:07:31] Speaker A: And then my friends, is polar bear facts for the day. Polar bear facts for days.
[02:07:34] Speaker B: I thought those would be better.
[02:07:36] Speaker A: Sorry.
[02:07:37] Speaker B: I mean they're pretty cool.
It's always good to learn about animals.
[02:07:41] Speaker A: I mean, did you know those things about the polar bears?
[02:07:42] Speaker C: No.
[02:07:43] Speaker B: No, I didn't.
[02:07:43] Speaker A: Now you do.
[02:07:44] Speaker B: I didn't. I knew that they were pretty fast. I didn't know that they were 20, 25 mile an hour fast.
[02:07:48] Speaker A: Yeah, really fast.
[02:07:49] Speaker B: That's a lot. That's fast.
[02:07:49] Speaker A: That's a big animal running.
[02:07:51] Speaker B: Yeah.
[02:07:51] Speaker A: And they will your up.
[02:07:53] Speaker B: I learned that anchorman was accurate.
[02:07:55] Speaker A: Yeah. There's patrol station in jeopardy.
[02:07:58] Speaker B: Yeah. And what was the last time? I didn't even listen to it.
[02:08:01] Speaker A: They touched notes to communicate.
[02:08:03] Speaker B: I was doing it. I did listen to it.
[02:08:04] Speaker A: That's how they. That's how they communicate.
[02:08:05] Speaker B: It's cool. It was like butterfly kisses or something. Bone talked to about those last kisses. Eskimo kisses.
I don't know.
[02:08:16] Speaker A: Yeah.
That my friends is back for days.
