Show Notes

The Cleveland Browns are 5-2 and leading the AFC North after a 27-24 cardiac win over the Titans. In this episode, Kenny Thunder, Ronnie Jams, and The Bone Man break down Deshaun Watson's first 300-yard passing game in Cleveland, heavily carried by 202 yards after the catch from his explosive playmakers.
The guys also chat with Dave, President of the Charleston, West Virginia Brownsbackers, who calls in to discuss their chapter, share his custom "Rebuilding Since 1964" gear, and banish any talk of Johnny Manziel.
Episode Highlights:
  • ☎️ Hot Take Hotline: The Hotline gets wild with a claim that the offense only scores when Watson’s internal "sphincter tightness meter" reaches maximum compression.
  •  Dawg of the Week: Rookie KC Concepcion wins the fan vote after racking up 8 catches and 129 yards straight off a concussion scare.
  • Roster Moves: Maliek Collins locks down a two-year extension, while Dillon Gabriel is activated off IR, sparking a debate over project QB Taylen Green.
  • King of the North Panic: Ronnie Jams is suffocating in last place at 10-13. Desperate to escape whatever the punishment will be, will he start panic picking against the other guys?
  • ⚔️ Week 8 Steelers Preview: A massive Part 2 battle in Pittsburgh for the division lead. Bone demands under 5 penalties while Ronnie banks on an angry Jared Verse breakout.

All this and so much more and we break it all down for you right here on the Burning River Sportscast!

[00:00:00] Speaker A: Tapping media. [00:00:22] Kenny Thunder: It's time. Time for the Burning River Sportscast. I don't know what planet we woke up on. Somebody check Earth's gravity. Recalculate our orbit. [00:00:31] Speaker C: Do it a. [00:00:32] Kenny Thunder: Do something. Because your Cleveland Browns are 52 and in first place in the AFC North. Is it sustainable? Who cares? They keep winning. So to hell with the analysis. To hell with the prognostication. We've got coach of the year talk. We've got comeback player of the year talk. And yes, as we approach the midpoint of the season, we've got legitimate playoff talk. It's unexplainable, it's inexplicable, it's incomprehensible, but it is our current reality. We might as well enjoy it, because Lord knows we've caught every bad break and lost in so many, many unimaginable ways so many times for so many years. For once, we're not talking about how many things can go wrong. We're talking about how we can keep making them go right. Welcome to a new conversation, and we'll break it all down for you next on the Burning River Sportscast. [00:01:29] Speaker A: Well, you know what? I remember it, and Petridge Farm remembers it. [00:01:33] Kenny Thunder: It's a real Sophie's ch. [00:01:35] Speaker A: Yeah. Sphincter tightness meter. That. That. That Deshawn Watson has inside. And. And only. Only. Only when. When sphincters reach maximum tightness. [00:01:52] Ronnie Jams: As much as we're five and two right now atop the division, like, everybody pumped the brakes. [00:01:56] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:01:56] Ronnie Jams: We are still the Cleveland Browns. We still have to earn it. [00:02:00] Kenny Thunder: This team has to win a Super bowl now, though, right? Because we're winning. [00:02:02] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:02:03] Kenny Thunder: And we got to go get a better quarterback. We got to go get the sound wa win right now. [00:02:08] Speaker A: 52 Browns against the 52 Steelers. Let's go. [00:02:12] Kenny Thunder: Apparently, this is a thing like. [00:02:14] Speaker A: Woo. [00:02:15] Kenny Thunder: Give me a ring. Player on 1, 2. [00:02:17] Speaker E: Woo. [00:02:18] Speaker A: Woo. Let's go. Let's beat Pittsburgh this week. Let's go. [00:02:28] Ronnie Jams: Browns have officially activated QB Dillon Gabriel. Thoughts here? [00:02:34] Speaker E: He's actually the secret weapon. He's gonna be the one to succeed Deshawn. [00:02:39] Speaker A: Thank you. [00:02:40] Kenny Thunder: Vaughn, you're off the show. [00:02:43] Ronnie Jams: I want to take my shirt off, too. [00:02:46] Speaker C: You guys have more life to live. I mean, we need to win now for me. [00:02:51] Ronnie Jams: Okay, if anybody wants just a peek behind the curtain at just how much of a degenerate Kenny is, just use that. His role model in life is Johnny Manziel. Mason Jar Graham. Best nickname in the game. [00:03:08] Kenny Thunder: One man, one jar. [00:03:11] Ronnie Jams: No, nobody Google that. [00:03:13] Speaker A: One grand. [00:03:13] Ronnie Jams: Nobody google that. [00:03:16] Kenny Thunder: Take me home to the place I belong West Virginia Mountain My my Take me home country road. Welcome in to the Burning River Sportscast, presented by the Fine Fol. So just like on Sundays this season, get ready to get your heart rate up, hoping that we are going to come through again, but secretly knowing there's a pretty good chance that we will completely crush your spirit for an entire week. Don't worry, we'll deliver. Now let's get things started with the Burning River News story of the week. All right guys, new story of the week out of Florida this week. Did you guys see little little kid got the cops caught on him for being too good at soccer. [00:05:47] Kenny Thunder: Florida is a weird place. [00:05:49] Ronnie Jams: We lived there for a while. [00:05:50] Kenny Thunder: It was strange swamps and alligators. [00:05:53] Ronnie Jams: What was the saying? Is everybody would. They would ask or is there alligators in there? Is the water wet? [00:05:59] Kenny Thunder: Is the water wet? [00:06:00] Ronnie Jams: Yeah, there's alligators. [00:06:01] Kenny Thunder: Alligators. [00:06:02] Ronnie Jams: No, but a little kid playing i9 sports down there, which i9 sports is all over the country. We have it here in Ohio. [00:06:09] Kenny Thunder: I thought iodine was one of those elements. [00:06:11] Ronnie Jams: Not iodine. Not iodine. I9 the letter I. The number nine. [00:06:16] Kenny Thunder: I9. [00:06:17] Ronnie Jams: Yeah, I9 sports. But anyways, he was playing soccer. Long story short, he's really good. The kid is three years old, playing in a league that is a range of three to five year olds. And he's really good. He's literally running circles around the rest of the kids, just dribbling around them and then scoring. And, and some of the parents or some of the organizers of the the league were upset about this claim that they told the family basically not to come back because he was being the, the excuse that they use. They said he was being physical with the kids. Although there's tons of videos of him playing against other kids the entire season, never touching any of them because they couldn't touch him. And yeah, so they, they said that they had kicked them out of the league, asked them not to come back. And so when he showed up to play, the organizers of the league called the cops on them. The cops showed up, had to talk to the family and basically say, you're not in this league, you're not allowed to play. Meanwhile, this three year old, again he's three, is sitting there just looking kind of dumbfounded at the camera, a little scared, kind of like I just, I just want to play soccer. [00:07:28] Speaker E: He's like, am I getting in trouble? Like what's going on here? [00:07:30] Ronnie Jams: Yeah. And his, his family had to explain to him that people are upset that you are too good at soccer, so they called the cops on you. [00:07:39] Speaker E: That's terrible. [00:07:41] Ronnie Jams: And I just wanted to throw this one out here because this is kind of one of those stories that comes out more and more frequently. It seems like where I'm like, what are we doing here as a society? [00:07:52] Kenny Thunder: I have a question. [00:07:53] Ronnie Jams: Sure. [00:07:54] Kenny Thunder: How good can you be at anything at 3 years old? My son tripped earlier, got up and said, did you see that move? [00:08:01] Ronnie Jams: I was here for that. It was brilliant. Just as far as the witness to play that off immediately, but like how [00:08:09] Kenny Thunder: much more physically and I mean just coordinated. [00:08:14] Ronnie Jams: The videos are impressive. He literally runs circles around them and just like dribbles between the other kids legs and like just. [00:08:20] Kenny Thunder: How does that even happen at 3 years old? [00:08:22] Ronnie Jams: I don't know, but it did. [00:08:23] Speaker E: The coordination of these other kids is, is not great. So this kid's running around them and they still haven't even turned yet. And they're like, he's already changing direction. [00:08:31] Ronnie Jams: Yeah, like it's, it's impressive. It's pretty impressive. And so, but there's, there's this whole big thing because everybody's bas basically on i9, which rightfully so, like, why would you. One, if parents are complaining to you that a kid's too good, there's two things there. Why do you even put up with it in the first place? Like parents, why do you let them complain about a kid being too good? Like your kid should get better then. And two, then to go and say, yeah, we agree with you, we're gonna kick him out of the league. [00:08:58] Kenny Thunder: Are you supposed to find a league full of gifted 3 year olds? [00:09:01] Ronnie Jams: Apparently. Apparently. [00:09:03] Speaker E: I feel like you could have just handled this. Like, because of course these kids are 3 to 5 years old. So you want your kid to play and be able to compete a little bit at this age. Maybe not let the kid play the entire game. Maybe put them in for five minutes and then take him out for two. [00:09:18] Ronnie Jams: There's, there's a lot of solutions here. [00:09:20] Kenny Thunder: Well, I feel like if he's already playing with five year olds, like they should be able to hold their own. Like, like my son's three and tripped and fell down because that's what he does. But I feel like a five. Hopefully he's not tripping as frequently. [00:09:32] Ronnie Jams: To your point, like, what are you supposed to do? Find like he literally is in a league where half of the league is almost double his age. [00:09:39] Speaker E: Yeah. [00:09:40] Kenny Thunder: And there's a lot of growing on growing up that goes on between three and five. Like, like physically there's a lot of growing that. [00:09:46] Ronnie Jams: Well, you could tell in this video. And I know Bone Bone had him pulled up and he was watching them. The kid is small. Like he's. Compared to a lot of the kids that are on the field. He's just a lot faster, a lot more coordinated than they are with the soccer ball. [00:09:59] Kenny Thunder: Also, it's soccer. Same in a real sport. [00:10:03] Ronnie Jams: Okay, that's, that's not even a part of the focus here. I don't know what we're doing. The point is, what are we doing as a society where we're calling the cops on a three year old kid because all these other parents are pissy that their kids are getting embarrassed by a three year old? [00:10:20] Speaker E: Yeah, it's a little pathetic. [00:10:22] Ronnie Jams: Like it's, it's one of those things where we're like just to an extreme. It's like we we want to punish him for being good at anything. [00:10:33] Kenny Thunder: I think we're just doomed as a society. [00:10:36] Ronnie Jams: Like 1. The 3 year old scarred for life because he's like, I got the cops called on me when I was three because I was really good at soccer. [00:10:42] Kenny Thunder: Bad story to tell you, like when you're an adult. [00:10:44] Ronnie Jams: Well, not now. My wife actually commented on the story because Ms. It got picked up by a lot of people. ESPN picked it up today. Ms. Rachel picked it up and like shared it was like, what are we doing here? And my, my wife commented on Ms. Rachel's Instagram and was like, well, in, in 12 years when he's 15 and qualifies for the men's national team and all these people want to tell the story about, oh, we played with him, we love him. [00:11:08] Speaker E: Yeah. [00:11:08] Ronnie Jams: Like, you know, just remember this, that you guys called the cops on him because he was too good at something. [00:11:13] Kenny Thunder: I feel like when you're three years old, if you're that better than everyone else, like he's probably going to have scouts calling in with contract offers soon sign into a futures deal. [00:11:20] Ronnie Jams: It actually has worked out real well for them because since then, you know, as things do, his social media has. [00:11:27] Speaker E: How young, how young can nil deals [00:11:30] Ronnie Jams: go is there's basically unlimited now. High school basically passed all that to where. So once high school passes it and makes it so you can do nil, it's pretty much. [00:11:38] Kenny Thunder: I would have made at least $16 in high school. [00:11:42] Ronnie Jams: Yeah. [00:11:42] Kenny Thunder: At least. [00:11:43] Ronnie Jams: Yeah. You would have got like one commercial for. [00:11:46] Speaker E: Maybe they like the local ice cream stand. [00:11:50] Speaker A: Frank's. [00:11:52] Ronnie Jams: Come eat Frank's ice cream. It's delicious. [00:11:55] Kenny Thunder: I do it for 16. [00:11:56] Ronnie Jams: Yeah. But yeah, I just. [00:11:58] Speaker E: Free monster shake. [00:11:59] Ronnie Jams: I just wanted to bring this up because I was like, this is asinine. Like, why are we calling the cops on a kid for being a three year old at that? For being good at soccer. Do better parents, do better down there in Florida. You guys got your priorities mixed up apparently just with calling. [00:12:14] Kenny Thunder: I don't think they got real problems down there. [00:12:17] Ronnie Jams: Maybe that's why we move. [00:12:19] Kenny Thunder: But I think they revealed there though. But I think they revealed property tax. That's where they're in the process. [00:12:24] Ronnie Jams: They don't have income tax either. That's always good. [00:12:26] Kenny Thunder: Yeah. So no taxes, lots of gators and mean parents. [00:12:30] Ronnie Jams: It's a real weird place to live. [00:12:32] Kenny Thunder: It's a real Sophie's Choice. Should we keep our money but let our kids be bullied by adults? [00:12:39] Ronnie Jams: I don't know, maybe get eaten by Alligators, who knows? But yeah, with that, let me remind everybody to call the burning respons. Leave your hot takes at a hot take hotline. I don't even know what I'm saying right now. Leave your hot takes on the hot take hotline. Kenny, do we get any hot takes? [00:12:52] Kenny Thunder: We want all the hot takes. [00:12:54] Ronnie Jams: Do we get any? [00:12:55] Kenny Thunder: We got some hot takes. [00:12:57] Ronnie Jams: Let's hear the hot takes. [00:12:58] Kenny Thunder: You want to hear the hot takes? [00:12:59] Ronnie Jams: Oh, you want to know? [00:13:00] Kenny Thunder: You want to know? [00:13:02] Speaker E: Better go. Somebody [00:13:06] Ronnie Jams: bone knows. That should be the lead into our hot take hotline. [00:13:10] Speaker A: Hey, guys, it's Monoco from the Browns backers, North Jersey. It is right now in the middle of first quarter. Quintean Judson just scored a touch. I vaguely remember a certain Happy Bob saying, oh, Jaleel McLaughlin should be the starting Colt running back and Queenside Jenkins is a bum. He should stay on the sideline. Well, you know what? I remember it and Petridge Farm remembers it. Bobby, bad take, buddy. [00:13:36] Ronnie Jams: He's menocking with the stinger. Just calls in and just shits all over Happy Bob. [00:13:41] Kenny Thunder: He literally just called to call Bobby out. [00:13:45] Ronnie Jams: You know, we get a lot of flack for like just making fun of the takes, but that was he. That was targeted attack right there. [00:13:52] Speaker E: Short and sweet to the point, he said. [00:13:54] Ronnie Jams: We're in the middle of the first quarter and Quinshot Judkins is playing well, so. Bobby, you suck. [00:13:57] Kenny Thunder: That was a drone strike. [00:13:59] Ronnie Jams: Yeah, thanks. [00:14:03] Speaker A: What the heck was that? That was the ugliest win we've had so far. This is Matt from Nashville. I'm super happy. We're all super happy. This place is just watching everybody file out. It's insane. I'm so angry and happy at the same time that just like an overthrow, there was an overload. Every single ball that went along. There's so many beautiful plays set up and they were just like three yards over the head of the receivers. It was not happening. So I think that. Think that there must be a sphincter tightness meter that, that. That Deshaun Watson has inside and, and only, only, only when. When sphincters reach maximum tightness. I don't know. I don't know. I'm. I'm. I'm happy and I'm angry. I'm trying to figure out which one I have. By the way, speaking of angry, I met up with Bobby. We're gonna do a call in from the Brownsbacher's place, the green light, and it was so loud. What was I thinking? So, but we met it was great. It was like a union of Brownsbackers places, and it was awesome. Menachem. Wish you could have been here. It was awesome. What else is there to say? I'm gonna go loosen my sphincter and enjoy the afternoon. [00:15:29] Ronnie Jams: What is happening right now? [00:15:31] Kenny Thunder: The optic hotline is lit. [00:15:33] Ronnie Jams: I like that. There's a sphincter tightness meter inside of Deshaun Watson. It's actively measuring at all times. Oh, my goodness. [00:15:43] Kenny Thunder: The sphincter tightening. Yeah, that was a new one. [00:15:47] Speaker E: I think Matt from Nashville was a little loose on that call. [00:15:49] Kenny Thunder: The sphincter was getting loose. [00:15:51] Ronnie Jams: He said he had to loosen it. Loosen it up. Yeah, I would say. You know what's funny is this is the first time we've heard Matt from Nashville call in and kind of have. There was. Negativity is strong, but he was like, I was mad. And all at the same time. Like, me and you talked about this Sunday night. We're like, at no point did I ever feel like we were gonna lose the game. [00:16:12] Speaker E: Yeah. [00:16:13] Kenny Thunder: Yeah, Matt, what happened to embrace the shake and embrace the imperfections with. With this team? You know, he's just angry all of a sudden. You've got expectations that are far too high for this group. [00:16:23] Ronnie Jams: You know what changed? He met angry Bobby. [00:16:25] Kenny Thunder: Met angry Bobby. [00:16:26] Ronnie Jams: That does changes, man. [00:16:29] Speaker E: Matt was at the game, right? [00:16:30] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:16:31] Speaker E: Okay. [00:16:31] Kenny Thunder: But Menachem wasn't. He called out. Menachem. [00:16:33] Ronnie Jams: Menachem wishes he was here. [00:16:37] Speaker E: Yeah. [00:16:37] Ronnie Jams: And what can I say, you know, Burning river sportscasters bringing Browns backers to get together. [00:16:42] Kenny Thunder: That's what we do. Yeah, I love that. Look, I think there, that is a fair point, right? I think just about Deshaun Watson overthrowing anything that was intermediate to deep route. You know, in our recap show, I tried not to get too. To like, to beat the guy up too much because they want again, right? [00:17:04] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:17:04] Kenny Thunder: Like, five wins, especially, you know, the last second wins. The nature of the way that they're winning, it's impressive to an extent. As much as I don't like desean Watson and really don't care for him, the body of work that he's putting together thus far is impressive. But. But I think that's a fair criticism that, like, even though they're winning games, DeSean Watson still isn't very good. And I know that he's got a lot of credit. This last. Over the last 24 hours or so about this being his best game. Guys, this was. This team had 202 total yak yards. It's the fourth highest total across the league for the entire year. So out of those 300 yards that Deshaun Watson threw for. He threw for 100 of them. Yeah, he got a lot of help. [00:17:52] Ronnie Jams: We were going to get to this later. It's. It's part of the, the Browns brief, but I'll just throw it in here now. That was his very first 300 yard game with the Cleveland Browns. [00:18:01] Kenny Thunder: Well, yeah, and it just speaks again to the fact that he's paid. He's not paid like a quarterback that threw for 300 yards once. [00:18:07] Speaker C: Right. [00:18:07] Kenny Thunder: He's. [00:18:07] Ronnie Jams: He's paid like a quarterback that throws [00:18:09] Kenny Thunder: there that does that every week. [00:18:10] Ronnie Jams: Yeah. [00:18:12] Kenny Thunder: So I just. As much as it feels good to win. It does. And, and the five wins and the bodywork right now is impressive, but I still don't. I'm still not convinced that Deshaun Watson is good. Everybody's like, like, this is his renaissance. [00:18:23] Ronnie Jams: He's. [00:18:23] Kenny Thunder: He's great. Again, like, I'm not there. I'm not there to. To say like he's any good at all. He got a lot of help on Sunday against a very bad football team. [00:18:34] Ronnie Jams: We got another hot take. [00:18:35] Kenny Thunder: Oh, we got more takes. [00:18:36] Ronnie Jams: Okay. Yeah. I just. You abruptly cut us off there. I was done with that take. [00:18:42] Speaker A: Hey. All right, Matt from Nashville calling back, say to walk back, my last topic, I went against my own advice, which was settle in. What if this is as good as it gets? And actually today, statistically was great. I think all of us probably watch on tv, certainly in the stadium, watching those two touchdowns right at the beginning, watching an interception, and you're just thinking, this is not happening again. And that was like, that was like, no matter what happened after that, that. That was the energy of like the bottom's going to fall at any second. And that clouded this remarkable Prince performance by Casey Kunsevcion. Quinton Justin said great. Dylan Sampson was great. Everybody out there doing their part. Not pretty. Certainly overthrows were there, but I think it's easy to miss that. The thing didn't get derailed. It got set right before the half. It wasn't like. And so those, those three good quarters that were talking about good. I don't know. There was another commentator over the past week or a podcast. The guy threw up the word handily. And he said unless Browns beat the Titans handily, a lot of people won't count it as. As a good, serious win. It won't set things up. So maybe the Titans have unlocked some. Something after the cults. Maybe they figured out something Maybe it was just two mediocre offenses batting against each other. They pulled it out. They did another one. And if I'm sitting here thinking that the wind's not good enough because it wasn't handily one, I'm not taking my own medicine. It was great. What a cool thing. Did any of us live in a place where we can go see a football game, let alone go see the Browns? Go Browns. Great game. Have a great night. [00:20:36] Ronnie Jams: So, yeah, I mean, he gives a hot take, and instantly. I guess not instantly. It was the next day, I believe. But calls back in. I like that when he calls in, it's like a whole new Persona. He's just silky smooth voice. He's like, guys, Matt from Nashville. I just wanted to let you know that I thought about it a little [00:20:54] Kenny Thunder: bit, and I did some self reflection. [00:20:57] Ronnie Jams: Yeah. Yeah. A little more subdued, but, yeah, you did go back to Kenny. Literally just said it. He said, what happened to embrace the shake? And you said, what happened to embrace the shake? [00:21:07] Kenny Thunder: Maybe this is as good as it gets. [00:21:09] Ronnie Jams: Yeah. [00:21:10] Speaker C: Yeah. And I don't. [00:21:12] Ronnie Jams: I don't like anybody when referring to the Cleveland Browns throwing out the words winning hand. Like, we don't win handily. We're the Cleveland Browns. Like, as much as we're five and two right now at top the division. Like, everybody already pumped the brakes. [00:21:25] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:21:25] Ronnie Jams: We are still the Cleveland Browns. We still have to earn it. We're not. It's not like we've been good for six years straight. [00:21:31] Speaker C: It's. [00:21:32] Ronnie Jams: We are still in the process of becoming a good team. [00:21:35] Kenny Thunder: Well, I think the danger that we run ourselves into in. In just accelerating those expectations is exactly what happened at the end of the Baker Mayfield era. Right. We start winning some games. We make the playoffs. We feel like this team has to win a Super bowl now, though. [00:21:51] Speaker C: Right. [00:21:51] Kenny Thunder: Because we're winning. Yeah. And we got to go get a better quarterback. We got to go get the Sean Watson. This is the exact reason why we're in the situation we're in right now. [00:21:59] Speaker E: Yeah. [00:21:59] Ronnie Jams: Because pretty much this is it. [00:22:00] Kenny Thunder: Because we got ahead of ourselves. Our expectations got too high for what this team was capable of. And. But you're right. [00:22:07] Ronnie Jams: And then people like Bone, they were like, we need to go get desean Watson. [00:22:11] Speaker E: I was preaching it. Yep. From the top of the mountain. [00:22:20] Kenny Thunder: I just think, like, we talked about it on the recap show Sunday night, which is, you know, as much as the reality is this Tennessee team wasn't good. The Browns are not in a position to have. There's no such thing as a trap game or a game that they should win. Yes, on paper they're the more they were the more talented roster. But that doesn't mean a whole lot because at the end of the day all these guys are professionals. They all get paid to play play [00:22:43] Ronnie Jams: the game in general, it doesn't mean anything in the NFL. The Atlanta Falcons, which we'll talk about later. The Atlanta Falcons beat the 49ers this week. [00:22:51] Kenny Thunder: Miami Dolphins won a game. [00:22:53] Ronnie Jams: The Miami Dolphins beat the Jets. Like it anything could happen the NFL [00:22:56] Kenny Thunder: every week so but I but I do like that was fun that Matt instantly retracted. [00:23:02] Ronnie Jams: I like that he said it guys. [00:23:03] Kenny Thunder: I thought about it. [00:23:04] Ronnie Jams: I made a mistake. Keep calling Matt. [00:23:09] Speaker A: Good afternoon boys. This is Happy Bob once again from the Browns backers of North Jersey where I just got back from Nashville. We got to meet Matt from Nashville on Saturday night at the Mid Tennessee Browns Backers backers bash. Met him and his family quick hello. But unfortunately we didn't see each other after that. But all good. [00:23:34] Kenny Thunder: We got each other's numbers now. [00:23:35] Ronnie Jams: So will be the will be the callers. [00:23:37] Speaker A: I'm going to call in as much much as I can. Now my hot take. I was way off. I said keep Quinn Shawn on the sideline. You look good, really good as well as the whole offense look good line looks like it's starting to block a little better now because I think the Titans really actually have a decent run game defense but the past defense wasn't good and Casey Concepcion showed that he looks like a dog. All right, that's it my friends. Got a big game coming up this week and Steelers five and two Browns against the five and two Steelers. Let's go. [00:24:18] Kenny Thunder: Our good friend Angry Robert. [00:24:20] Ronnie Jams: Happy Robert, Happy Bob. A lot of self reflection this week. I was wrong. [00:24:26] Kenny Thunder: Everybody's walking in. [00:24:28] Ronnie Jams: Of course a couple things. First of all, I like that not just Matt from Nashville, but Happy Bob. Call in to the hot take hotline to let us know. Hey, we met each other. It was great. We love each other. We hung out. Menachem's not there. Meanwhile Menachem calls in and says Happy Bob's an idiot. [00:24:47] Kenny Thunder: Just drone strike after drone strike on each other. [00:24:51] Ronnie Jams: Also Happy Bob. The Tennessee Titans coming into that 1 ranked number 21 in the NFL against the run. So not not very good. [00:25:00] Kenny Thunder: Well, Jeffrey Simmons is a good player on that defensive front. [00:25:04] Ronnie Jams: Look this we said some interesting things about DeSean Watson after the game about getting the ball out quick. [00:25:09] Kenny Thunder: So this game though was just night and day from A running game perspective. Right. Like, we haven't seen that at all at any point this year to where not only were your playmakers getting the ball and able to do something with it, but there was actually holes to run through. So I don't know if something. I don't know if it's a. Maybe it's a combination of the two. I don't know if it's. The Tennessee is really bad or if the Browns changed something substantial, if they are. Are thinking about, you know, run blocking concepts differently. [00:25:40] Ronnie Jams: But it was. [00:25:41] Kenny Thunder: But it was clear in the production. [00:25:42] Ronnie Jams: I mean, like, it could be that they've gotten to a point now where the, you know, our young line has kind of gotten to know each other a little bit. They're starting to work better together. And the. Now the offensive line coach is like, okay, let's progress a little bit. We got to add some new things, add some wrinkles and give these guys some lanes to run in. [00:25:59] Kenny Thunder: Yeah. And I would add to that, too. Maybe Quinton is feeling better, healthy. I mean, obviously he had the injury last year, was banged up a little bit this year was this the first [00:26:08] Speaker E: game with Sampson and Samson was back [00:26:10] Kenny Thunder: for the first time. [00:26:11] Ronnie Jams: And we talked about that a lot on Sunday is just that bringing. Regardless of the offensive line, Quin Sean Judkins lack of production this year, bringing Dylan Sampson back, and we haven't seen it at all, really, this year is a huge thing for the Browns offense because it creates a whole different dynamic as far as his playmaking, playmaking abilities out of the backfield. [00:26:34] Kenny Thunder: Well, when you sign guys like Audric estimate, it's nothing against Adric Estimate. It's. It's just that those guys are there because somebody has to fill the role. Right. Like they needed a running back. [00:26:43] Ronnie Jams: It sounds like he's related to Charlie Sheen and Emilio Estevez. [00:26:48] Kenny Thunder: Emilio Estevez, the Mighty Ducks guys. Where to God. But Dylan Sampson's a real player. Like, he's. He's a real difference maker and a playmaker. And, you know, I especially love him out of the backfield catching passes. He's just. [00:27:01] Ronnie Jams: Is. [00:27:02] Kenny Thunder: Is dynamic and has speed in a different gear. So, you know. Yeah. Again, a combination probably of all those things. Tennessee being maybe not. Not very good. Maybe changes that the Browns made internally during this week of. Of preparation and getting guys healthy and getting guys back. So I just hope it continues. [00:27:21] Ronnie Jams: Yeah. And I. I'll tell. I'll tell you this happy Bob. I too was a Quinchon doubter. I'm still not 100% sold. I don't know what to think yet. [00:27:30] Kenny Thunder: Ronnie was calling him a bus before you did, so I didn't. [00:27:33] Ronnie Jams: I said, should we say that? I didn't say he is a bus. [00:27:36] Kenny Thunder: You brought up the B1 word. [00:27:37] Ronnie Jams: I did. [00:27:38] Speaker E: I did. [00:27:39] Speaker A: Hey, guys. Monocum from the Browns backers of North Jersey. I know it called during the game. Hopefully. Hopefully. Some people call between when I called that time. I'm calling again. Wow. This is just. This is just wonderful. This is amazing. Browns 5 and 2. My. I have a hot take, though. I do have a hot take. I don't know how hot it is, but it's. It's a take. [00:28:02] Speaker C: At least [00:28:04] Speaker A: A lot of people are complaining about the quote unquote blatant false start on the play to Harold Fannin. Listen, Florio can take a hike. The Titans beat writers who are complaining about it can go crying a river, all right? There are plenty of plays in every game that gets missed. There's funny calls that get missed. And finally one came the Browns way, and we capitalized. And a big play to Fannin. I'm. I'm ecstatic. I'm so, so thrilled. The only downside of the game for. For me personally, was that didn't get to hang out with my. With my good buddy Happy Bob and Hope. I. I know he had a great time at the game. I know we got to meet Matt from Nashville. Matt from Nashville. You're awesome, dude. Keep up. Keep up. Keeping up. You know what I'm saying? And you guys from the Beauty for the Burning River Sportscast, thank you for. For everything. And let's go. Let's beat Pittsburgh this week. Let's go. [00:29:17] Ronnie Jams: Hell, yeah. Manakum. I don't know if you heard the same cause as we did, but, I mean, basically, they said they're best friends now, and you're the odd man out, so you talked real nice about it. [00:29:27] Kenny Thunder: But when Matt started calling him and knocking was like, be careful. Angry Bobby's been swayed. Angry Bobby's new best friend is. [00:29:35] Ronnie Jams: You thought it was us. You said, oh, they'll throw you to the side. [00:29:38] Kenny Thunder: It's not our fault. [00:29:39] Ronnie Jams: It's Happy Bob that's doing this, not us. [00:29:42] Kenny Thunder: Matt's just such a charismatic guy. You can't help but love him. [00:29:46] Ronnie Jams: Yeah, no, I love that. [00:29:48] Kenny Thunder: We started with Menaka on the hot take hotline. [00:29:51] Ronnie Jams: A lot of self reflection. He walked it back, and he was like, I'm sorry, Angry Bobby. You guys are my good friends. [00:29:56] Kenny Thunder: Then we ended with Menakum on the hot take hotline this week. But, yeah, I mean, just, you know, tremendous showing, I think, by Browns fans in Nashville this week. So it is awesome that we had so many, you know, backers and just fans down there filling the stadium. I think Todd Monkin talked about it after the game that it felt like half the stadium was Browns fans. It was almost like this was the one we were hoping to go to, but we. [00:30:19] Ronnie Jams: It just didn't come to fruition, so. [00:30:21] Kenny Thunder: Yeah, but. But, yeah, just a, you know, good weekend and. And the Browns win, so. [00:30:27] Ronnie Jams: Hell, yeah. [00:30:28] Kenny Thunder: You got Pittsburgh coming up here. [00:30:30] Ronnie Jams: It's like I said, this is what we want. We were talking about all we've been asking what we want. [00:30:35] Kenny Thunder: Just want a competitive football team that we can. We can watch and. And be proud of to an extent, [00:30:40] Ronnie Jams: when you want to be in these big moments. We got Pittsburgh coming up for the division lead, so. [00:30:44] Kenny Thunder: Oh, and I do want to talk about the penalties thing for a second, though, because, again, I agree with men 100%. Right. Like, there's a million missed calls in every game, and you could go, well, that would have changed the outcome of the game. [00:30:55] Ronnie Jams: Well, who's to say that very same play wouldn't happen the next play? Like. [00:30:58] Kenny Thunder: And. And I think as far as missed calls go, that was one that was like, it didn't impact. Impact the play, right. In any way. Like, you see pass interference, sometimes it gets called or doesn't get called, and it's like, wow, that really changed because that would have been a touchdown or whatever. Like, the fact that he took a half a step backward, really, before the play. Like, it wasn't like they. It wasn't like, Deshaun held onto the ball for a really long time. [00:31:22] Ronnie Jams: It's that fine moment, too. There's so many times throughout any given week in the NFL where you just watch the tackle do that first kick, step back, and it's like, it happens way back. [00:31:32] Kenny Thunder: I feel like they're offside every time. [00:31:34] Ronnie Jams: So, like, yeah, whatever. [00:31:37] Kenny Thunder: And I think there was. If you go back to the last Tennessee series, there was some, you know, who's really. That didn't get called on their end on their touchdown drive. So, like, it goes both ways. And that's why, like, I don't ever spend a lot of time. [00:31:48] Ronnie Jams: Not that this will surprise anybody, but you know, who gets away with it all the time? The Chiefs. [00:31:52] Kenny Thunder: The Chiefs. [00:31:53] Ronnie Jams: The Chiefs do it on almost every play. So, like, I do think there is [00:31:57] Kenny Thunder: something to the officiating degradation of the officiating this year. And I Don't know exactly what the. [00:32:04] Ronnie Jams: I feel like we say this every year. [00:32:05] Kenny Thunder: The causes. No, but I was. I was listening to. They were talking about it somewhere about the average penalties per game. Last year just called in a game across the NFL was something like 12, 12 and a half. It's up to almost 15 or 15 and a half this year. Two to three more penalties in a game, that's significant, right? Like averages. Averages don't move like that. They move by a half of a point or maybe one, but one would be a significant. A significant movement. So when you're talking about two or three more penalties called in every game, like there is some kind of. Either just a heightened awareness around enforcement of these, or they are making potentially just bad calls or over. Over. Over litigating the game. [00:32:50] Ronnie Jams: I don't know. That argument makes no sense to me because they missed this one. So you would think that there would be more. More calls. [00:32:55] Kenny Thunder: Well, I just think maybe it's. It's a. [00:32:57] Ronnie Jams: A possibility that wasn't a. Against you. I know most of the things I say are digs against you. [00:33:02] Kenny Thunder: That way it's relevant is I think maybe the officiating is getting worse. I think. I think that maybe is the. The problem is that the officials aren't [00:33:09] Ronnie Jams: as, you know, they should be. Listen, if you're honestly sitting here wanting the officiating to get better, just. You're gonna be waiting like it's not gonna happen. [00:33:17] Kenny Thunder: I don't understand why they have such a hard time finding officials for this. Like, you know, I. [00:33:22] Ronnie Jams: You want to get screamed at for an entire game by NFL dudes for [00:33:25] Kenny Thunder: what those guys make to work half the year? Hell yes. [00:33:28] Ronnie Jams: I mean, you do, but, like, they don't. [00:33:31] Kenny Thunder: I think. I think Manokam would do it. I think Manokam would be a fair officiator. [00:33:35] Ronnie Jams: Yeah, yeah. [00:33:36] Kenny Thunder: Angry Bobby, not so much. [00:33:38] Ronnie Jams: All right, do we have any more hot takes? [00:33:39] Kenny Thunder: That's all the hot takes this time week. [00:33:40] Ronnie Jams: All right, so remember, these are hot takes. We want your hot takes. Call 3302-2780-8133-0227-8081-3302-2278-0810, 813-302, 27881. Call now. [00:33:54] Kenny Thunder: Call us. [00:33:55] Ronnie Jams: Operators are not standing by, but we'll put you on the air and we'll talk about your hot takes. [00:33:58] Kenny Thunder: We'll do all those things. [00:34:00] Ronnie Jams: Speaking of hot takes, it's time for dig it with the ma. Oh, yeah. [00:34:13] Speaker A: Huge week. [00:34:15] Kenny Thunder: Big week. [00:34:17] Speaker A: There's no pukesters to My left, there's no pukesters. [00:34:20] Ronnie Jams: To my right, there's only you yinzers in front of us, and we're gonna go through you to be on top, [00:34:27] Speaker A: top of the North. [00:34:29] Ronnie Jams: So, Steel City, get ready to crumble [00:34:32] Kenny Thunder: down to the bottom of the AFC North. [00:34:37] Speaker A: Oh, yeah. [00:34:38] Ronnie Jams: Let's Gold Browns fit. [00:34:42] Speaker A: Let's go. [00:34:53] Ronnie Jams: Macho, Macho fan. [00:34:56] Kenny Thunder: I want to be a macho fan. Speaking of macho fan, did you guys see Ric Flair this week? [00:35:03] Ronnie Jams: No. [00:35:05] Kenny Thunder: Apparently this is a thing. Like, give me a r flare on 1, 2. I don't know why I talk, but apparently there's a thing. There's, like, Reddit boards dedicated to, like, people that have spotted Ric Flair in public. He just goes out in bars in Tampa and gets drunk and, like, starts fights. Apparently took a tumble this weekend and posted a picture looking rough as hell. Yeah, we can find it. Yeah, we can find it. I mean, I don't know. Like, the guy's got to be close to 80 or over 80 at this point. [00:35:40] Ronnie Jams: Like, he's. [00:35:41] Kenny Thunder: He's old to be starting bar fights. And, like, he was toe up big time. [00:35:48] Ronnie Jams: Ric Flair is 77 years. [00:35:50] Kenny Thunder: 77 years young. The Rolex wearing, airplane flying, limo riding. You're never gonna keep these gators down. [00:36:02] Ronnie Jams: Nope. He had, like, an eye patch. [00:36:04] Kenny Thunder: Yeah, like, he was up. [00:36:06] Ronnie Jams: So he was. [00:36:07] Speaker E: This is from a fight. He. [00:36:08] Kenny Thunder: I don't know. I think he might have said that he fell. Like, I saw that he fell, but I don't know if it's because someone pushed him or if he, like, actually just fell because he's old, and that happens when you get old, like you just lost a career. [00:36:20] Ronnie Jams: He posted. He posted a picture at his house. He's just in the blanket just like, looking like. [00:36:25] Kenny Thunder: Just looking like a grandpa. [00:36:27] Ronnie Jams: Wild, man. Wild. [00:36:29] Kenny Thunder: But. But, yeah, he was roughed up. [00:36:33] Speaker E: Yeah, good for him. [00:36:35] Ronnie Jams: Good for. [00:36:36] Kenny Thunder: Good for him. [00:36:36] Ronnie Jams: Just living his life, man. One more thing. Before the Browns brief, it's time for River Sportscast Dog of the Week, baby. [00:36:47] Speaker A: Doesn't matter, man. [00:36:48] Kenny Thunder: You gotta play tough people in the National Football League. You gotta be ready. And we gotta be the dogs that we are every time we step on [00:36:55] Speaker A: there on Sunday and be ready to attack. [00:36:57] Kenny Thunder: And don't stop until we're in that locker room. [00:37:03] Speaker C: All right. [00:37:03] Ronnie Jams: We leave it up to our listeners to determine the Burning River Sportscast Dog of the Week. Each week on our live shows, on Sunday night, we each nominate a Dog of the Week candidate. From there, we turn it over to all of you on our socials to Vote and make the final decision. This week's nominees. [00:37:15] Kenny Thunder: Kenny K.C. [00:37:18] Speaker E: concepcion, Bone Harold Fannin Jr. [00:37:22] Ronnie Jams: I called him Fanning for you on the live show. [00:37:24] Speaker E: Ah, well done. [00:37:25] Ronnie Jams: Yeah. And I nominated Quinshon Judkins. And after the fan vote that was conducted on our socials, this week's Burning vs. Sportscast. Dog of the week is Casey Concepcion. [00:37:38] Kenny Thunder: My dude. [00:37:39] Ronnie Jams: Oh, he did it. [00:37:40] Kenny Thunder: I did it. [00:37:40] Ronnie Jams: I thought Quinchon was going to get it with his two touchdowns. Concepcion, eight receptions for 129 yards. [00:37:46] Kenny Thunder: I think those were all in the first half. [00:37:48] Ronnie Jams: Three rushes, 23 yards. I mean, it was definitely, like, his breakout game this season. So I. I understand why all the fans wanted to go with him. We were. I think everybody's excited to see this young receiving cord do things like this so well. [00:38:02] Kenny Thunder: When's the last time we had, like, legitimate playmakers on this offense? [00:38:06] Ronnie Jams: We ain't got them. [00:38:06] Kenny Thunder: I mean, you can go back to, like, the Baker days where with Jarvis and Odell and, like, those guys were pretty good, but Jarvis was pushing the end of his career, and Jarvis was never. [00:38:15] Ronnie Jams: Odell was never really that good, and [00:38:17] Kenny Thunder: Odell was never great here. [00:38:18] Speaker E: No. [00:38:19] Kenny Thunder: And. [00:38:19] Ronnie Jams: And Jarvis, to be fair, Odell was never really good anywhere except for with the Giants. [00:38:23] Kenny Thunder: And. And while I liked Jarvis Landry a lot, Jarvis was more of like that. That players guy. Like, he was a gamer. Jarvis wasn't particularly fast or strong. [00:38:33] Ronnie Jams: He was like that his whole career. [00:38:34] Kenny Thunder: I think he had great field vision and was able to. Was shifty enough to, like, make plays. But. But. But he wasn't a burner. Like, Casey is like this. This is a guy that every time he touches the ball is a threat to score. [00:38:44] Ronnie Jams: Yeah. And I think the other thing was, this was coming off of the. The concussion last week. So the fact that he was able to get back on the field and play as well as he did was just awesome. So, yeah, the Burning River Sportscast dog of the week this week, Casey Concepcion. Well done with that. Let's go ahead and get into the bone zone. All right, So y' all heard from me and Kenny on Sunday night after the game. This is the time. [00:39:17] Kenny Thunder: I. [00:39:20] Ronnie Jams: Do you want me to kill you? This is the time for Bone to give his thoughts and talk about what he saw in the game. [00:39:27] Speaker C: Bone. [00:39:27] Kenny Thunder: Bone zone. [00:39:28] Ronnie Jams: Take it away. [00:39:30] Speaker E: Well, let me say this. I. I felt the same way as you guys. We were down 14 to zero, but I was, like, not really that worried. I think it's just unbiased because you heard how bad the Tennessee Titans Were the whole year, but it's still at the same point. They're an NFL franchise, so whatever. Take that as it is. But I don't know. Our defense settled in eventually. I don't think it was their best game of the season, which I feel like every other game we won was because of them. Offense was fun to watch, which was exciting. Yeah, we got to see a lot of big plays from our skull guys. I don't know. Yeah, Casey is a stud. Concepcion. Sorry. Concepcion is a stud. Casey Concepcion is a stud. Fanon is a stud. I actually wrote fanning on here. I think it autocorrected. I think it autocorrected. [00:40:26] Kenny Thunder: Sure did. [00:40:26] Speaker E: I don't know. Like, seeing those guys in space was just sweet, you know? And you already talked about the yards after the catch. There's over 200 of them. So it was just. And I don't know if that's. You know, I don't think that was from desean throwing them open. I don't believe that's what I saw. But they made plays after they got the ball. [00:40:43] Ronnie Jams: But you did text us after the game and you said, desean Watson's pretty good. [00:40:47] Speaker E: Here's what I. Here's what I wrote. No, he's. I said he played good, which he did. That was probably his best game that I remember. [00:40:54] Ronnie Jams: Statistically, it's the only game he's thrown for 300 yards. [00:40:57] Speaker E: 300 yards. It was thanks to his playmakers. But that's. That's football. That's how it works, you know, team [00:41:04] Kenny Thunder: game 11 on one. [00:41:06] Speaker E: He took care of the ball. Aside from that one pick. [00:41:10] Ronnie Jams: That was a bad pick. [00:41:12] Speaker E: Commentator immediately defended him and said it was the receiver fault. But I would have had to go back and watch that. [00:41:16] Ronnie Jams: I don't know. I watched it, like, 10 times, and I was like, I don't really understand how this could be the receiver's fault, [00:41:21] Kenny Thunder: because I think it was the receiver's fault. I think DeSean talked about that after the game. [00:41:28] Ronnie Jams: Was he supposed to run a spot? [00:41:29] Kenny Thunder: Todd Monken talked about it after the game. He's not supposed to undercut the defender on that route, which is like. Which basically what Deshaun says. Like, you might be able to get away with that in college, but the guys in the NFL are just too big, too fast, too strong. [00:41:40] Ronnie Jams: He's going to jump it. [00:41:41] Kenny Thunder: He's like, you basically just have to flatten it out. And you almost have to play defense on that play. Like, if the ball comes to you to make sure it doesn't end up in their hands. [00:41:48] Speaker E: If you don't catch it, he doesn't catch it. [00:41:50] Kenny Thunder: And they talked to. [00:41:51] Ronnie Jams: That's fair. [00:41:52] Kenny Thunder: They talked to the receiver afterward, after the game as well, who also said, you know, it was a learning moment for him. Todd Monken said it was the. [00:42:00] Speaker E: Who was that too? Is that to Boston? [00:42:01] Kenny Thunder: I think it was to Boston. [00:42:02] Speaker E: Yeah. [00:42:04] Kenny Thunder: So I, you know, when it first happened, I mean, that was my, like, immediate thought was like, lo. [00:42:08] Ronnie Jams: Because it was just like straight to him. Like, is it how it looked on the field? [00:42:12] Kenny Thunder: How do you not see that guy? [00:42:13] Speaker E: Right. [00:42:14] Speaker A: But. [00:42:14] Kenny Thunder: But based on the reaction from everybody, including the coaching staff, like, it seems like that probably this is a really [00:42:22] Ronnie Jams: weird feeling that we're trusting what the coaching staff is saying. [00:42:26] Speaker C: I'm not, I'm not. [00:42:27] Ronnie Jams: I'm not undermining what you're saying at all. I actually agree with you. Like, if Todd Monkin saying it at this point, I'm like, yeah, that's probably what happened. [00:42:34] Speaker E: I think the. Was the commentator a former quarterback or DB or something. I don't know what. He immediately called it out and was like, that receiver didn't do his job. [00:42:41] Kenny Thunder: Yeah, he. [00:42:42] Speaker E: He was wrong. Which I thought was interesting. But aside from that, like I was [00:42:47] Ronnie Jams: gonna say, I guess this is a bone zone. [00:42:49] Kenny Thunder: Desean wasn't of his segment. [00:42:51] Speaker E: Desean was in control the entire game, I thought. And I haven't seen that since you've been here, so I thought that was promising. I don't know if that's just from a bad Tennessee Titans defense or he's getting better under Todd Monkin. [00:43:06] Ronnie Jams: Like I said, he texted us immediately after the game, and you're like, he's the guy now. [00:43:09] Speaker E: Well, and here's. Here's my favorite. I would do want to say Todd Monkin, I thought was impressive, just sticking to the game plan, keeping the run game going, being down 14 0. I think he's a good coach. I think. I think he's kind of showing us that, especially after that first game nightmare that, you know, the Browns went through keeping the team together, and now we got five wins. So I do. I like Todd Monken. I want to go back to desean post game interview. This is the first post game interview or just interview I've seen desean have. That wasn't cringy and he never said the word I. He gave all the credit to his teammates and he just said we a lot in the post game interview, which was right afterwards on the field, you know, so it wasn't like he had time to think about it. I don't know if he had some training or whatever it was, but it sounded so much better than all his other ones so far that were just cringy and just like, dude, why are you saying that? [00:44:03] Ronnie Jams: Like, all the ones so far this season where he's like, I just wanted to put the team on my back and show them that I could do this for him and everything. Yeah. [00:44:10] Speaker E: So I. I'm hoping he's waking up. Up maybe. I'm hoping it's not just PR training. I'm hoping he's truly waking up a little bit. [00:44:17] Ronnie Jams: Maybe he's tasting a little bit of success and he's like, I. I really gotta clean this up so that I can maybe parlay this into another. Another deal with the Browns. [00:44:25] Kenny Thunder: Is it possible that you can grow up at 31 years old? [00:44:28] Speaker E: Maybe. [00:44:28] Ronnie Jams: I don't know. Was it. Wasn't it Todd Monkin at the beginning of the season, he still looks at him as a young player. So, you know, I mean, to be fair, in the NFL these days, quarterbacks play till they're like, 45. So. [00:44:39] Kenny Thunder: Yeah, true. [00:44:40] Ronnie Jams: We're gonna play one of them this week. [00:44:43] Kenny Thunder: That's true. Yeah. [00:44:44] Ronnie Jams: Yeah. [00:44:45] Speaker E: But it was a fun game to watch overall and, yeah. Browns fan, so. I'm excited, Bones. [00:44:50] Ronnie Jams: Excited. [00:44:51] Speaker E: Yeah. I'm still not all in on. Desean's been swayed, Bones. [00:44:54] Kenny Thunder: Been swayed by Deshaun. [00:44:56] Speaker E: He's still in the bottom half of the quarterbacks in the league. [00:44:59] Ronnie Jams: So I will say this. I didn't talk about it yet, but Matt from Nashville actually had kind of like a third hot take that he left on our live. Live after we were done going live on Sunday. And he kind of referred to the hero's journey with Todd Monken being Obi Wan Kenobi, all this other stuff. And then he also said he looked at it as, like, a game that he thinks the coaching staff could say. We're gonna. We're gonna work on some things because we know that we can get away with certain things against the Titans and still be okay potentially. So he said we could have played our normal game and had a. You know, our defense plays great, our offense doesn't play so well, we don't open it up that much, and we win soundly, 24 to 10. But in the long run, is that really going to help us? So he thinks his argument was maybe. Todd Monkin said, we're going to use this game to work on some of our offensive schemes, open the playbook up a Little bit. And it might, you know, because of that, like, I don't really know how that affects the defense. That's still what I'm trying to crunch in my head. But maybe we're not as focused throughout the week on our defensive preparation. We're more focused on the offensive prep. Well, and I think I'm probably butchering that. Sorry, Matt from Nashville. [00:46:09] Kenny Thunder: Matt, call in again. Well, I think also we might be being overly critical of the defense because they've been so good this year because you astutely pointed out after the game that numbers wise, this didn't look that far off from like their season average. [00:46:25] Ronnie Jams: They were almost exactly in terms of [00:46:27] Kenny Thunder: yards given up and stuff. So I think, you know, we've become accustomed to the defense carrying this team and keeping them in games. And so we're always waiting the big. The big play or the big turnover to come from them. [00:46:39] Speaker E: And Denzel still had the big turnover. You know what I mean? [00:46:42] Kenny Thunder: Right, right. So I think maybe because. Because. But then you're not alone like that. You pointed out like that it wasn't the defense's best game. Like, I heard that a lot over the last. [00:46:50] Ronnie Jams: The defense gave up 322 yards in this one. They average giving up 318.1 on the season. [00:46:56] Speaker E: I think it's because we didn't really have a lot of pressure on the quarterback or there wasn't like a big sack or it didn't seem like there [00:47:02] Ronnie Jams: was like the other big difference in this game team was the points total. We've kept most teams right around 20 or below. I think the Steelers scored 24 on us earlier in the season, but it's been right around 20 or below. And so just like the fact that [00:47:14] Kenny Thunder: Tennessee's not very good, I think that's the biggest thing. Right. [00:47:17] Ronnie Jams: But people forget, like we've been saying this whole time, it's an NFL team. Like, it's still full of NFL players. [00:47:23] Kenny Thunder: So they want to give the week before. [00:47:24] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:47:25] Kenny Thunder: Any given week. [00:47:26] Speaker E: Carnell Tate looks pretty. [00:47:27] Kenny Thunder: Carnell Tate does look good. [00:47:29] Speaker A: That was. [00:47:29] Kenny Thunder: That was the one thing I kind of took away from this was like, if they could get the quarterback position figured out in Tennessee, have a real star in the making it on there. I mean, we know he's good coming from Ohio State, but. But he looked really smooth. [00:47:42] Ronnie Jams: Yeah, we came up. So the. The two weeks before this game, we gave up 17 points and. And 10 points. So, like, that's where it's looking different. [00:47:51] Kenny Thunder: So I get it. But every game is different. Right. Like, you can't. There's no template. [00:47:56] Ronnie Jams: I'm agreeing with you guys. Yeah. I'm just. [00:47:58] Kenny Thunder: I just, I think just as a whole, like, Browns fans have been maybe overly critical, and I don't know that it's necessary. Like, it was, one, they won and two, it didn't look a whole lot different. You know, it's happening from what else we've seen this year. [00:48:11] Ronnie Jams: We're starting to turn that corner where Browns fans are starting to get a little confidence and they're like, we need to start winning games handily. We think we're the 85 Bears all of a sudden. It's like, we don't. I don't care if we win games. Hand. I would love to, don't get me wrong. But I don't care if we do. If we win every game on a last second field goal, guess what? We still won every game. [00:48:29] Speaker C: Game. [00:48:30] Kenny Thunder: Yeah. [00:48:30] Ronnie Jams: So I don't give a. [00:48:31] Kenny Thunder: The last thing I would say, just about just on Bone's comments was, sounds like Bone has been swayed by Todd Monkin. [00:48:40] Speaker E: I like Todd. [00:48:41] Kenny Thunder: The Todd father. [00:48:41] Speaker E: I do like him. [00:48:42] Ronnie Jams: Todd father. I like that. [00:48:44] Kenny Thunder: I didn't make that up. I heard that on the radio. [00:48:45] Ronnie Jams: That's fine. [00:48:46] Kenny Thunder: We're going to use it. [00:48:46] Ronnie Jams: Todd father. He went from after game one, I was calling him Sleepy Todd and now he's the Todd father. [00:48:53] Kenny Thunder: So I would say, me personally, I am reserving judgment on Todd Monken because if at some point Shador Sanders plays football for the Cleveland Browns this year and he looks like an NFL quarterback, my I have to still question then the judgment of the guy that despite the fact that they're winning, still picked an inferior player to be in charge of this football team. My question is, what if maybe Shador is not good? And that's fine. And at that point, I would go, you know, happily, yes, the Todd father is here and he should stay. But if he comes in, if, heaven forbid, something happens to desean and Shador Sanders walks in and lights this league on fire offensively and not even like, lights it on fire, but is overly competent and is good in his throw and this offense, like, looks like it comes to life, then I start to go, all right, I'm questioning your judgment here. [00:49:49] Ronnie Jams: We've talked about this before, though. What. What if it's part of the plan? And as far as. And what I mean by that is, what if he really does see something in Shador Sanders and he's saying, but you need time and he's developing. I mean, all that's all. All we keep hearing is that he's developing really well behind the scenes. [00:50:06] Speaker E: Hold the clipboard. We got a team built here ready for success, and you may be stepping in here soon enough. [00:50:12] Ronnie Jams: Yeah, I don't know. I mean, the writing on the wall is regardless of like, barring. We've talked about this, barring a Super bowl run, like, DeSean Watson is most likely not going to be on this team next year. [00:50:23] Kenny Thunder: Look, I'm not even a Shador, like big Shador fan. I just have a hard time believing that Shador could have played any worse over the last seven weeks than DeSean did in some of those games. [00:50:33] Ronnie Jams: But long term, if this is better for his career, like if he's more prepared and, and he's better equipped to come in and win games, I, I [00:50:43] Kenny Thunder: just think like we're handling Shador with kid gloves at that point, right? He's not a rookie this year. He's got seven or eight starts under his belt. He's played in like 10 games. Like, he, he doesn't, he doesn't need to sit and watch desean sometimes. [00:50:54] Ronnie Jams: You gotta handle him with kid gloves. I mean, we should probably do that more with you, but we don't. [00:50:58] Speaker E: I wanna, I wanna see him too, because it's like you asked that question, like, would we have needed five game winning drives at the end of the game to win these games? Exactly. [00:51:09] Ronnie Jams: We don't know. [00:51:09] Speaker E: It's all. But questions come up. [00:51:11] Ronnie Jams: We'll never know. [00:51:12] Kenny Thunder: And we'll never know. But we'll have a pretty good idea if this, If Shidor does come in and plays really well. [00:51:17] Ronnie Jams: But who's to say he would have played that well earlier in the season. Season. [00:51:21] Kenny Thunder: I think we all will know. [00:51:22] Speaker C: I don't know. [00:51:22] Ronnie Jams: I just. [00:51:23] Kenny Thunder: I don't know. [00:51:24] Speaker C: I don't know. [00:51:24] Ronnie Jams: I don't know. I don't know. We're believers in Todd Monkin. You're holding, you're. Yeah, I'm not saying. [00:51:31] Kenny Thunder: I'm not saying. I'm not a believer in Todd Monkin. I'm just saying all. I'm not ready. [00:51:35] Ronnie Jams: It's the. To Double D. I'm not, I'm not [00:51:37] Kenny Thunder: ready yet to, to. To jump in with both feet. [00:51:41] Speaker E: I love it. [00:51:41] Kenny Thunder: And to. [00:51:41] Ronnie Jams: And he's the Todd father. [00:51:43] Kenny Thunder: To anoint this guy. [00:51:44] Ronnie Jams: He's the Todd father. [00:51:45] Kenny Thunder: Not there yet. T O, Double D. I'm impressed. I'm impressed, buddy. Again, look, here's my final word on Todd Monken right now. Kevin Stefanski came in, led this team to the playoffs, won coach of the year. Everybody thought Kevin Stefanski was great. Time changed everyone's mind. [00:52:01] Ronnie Jams: That's fair. [00:52:01] Kenny Thunder: For the. [00:52:02] Ronnie Jams: For to. To what was. I'll give you that. I'll give you that. That's. That's good counterargument. [00:52:06] Kenny Thunder: You know, we can all be prisoner of the moment. It feels good right now. The Browns are winning. Vibes are good, guys. [00:52:12] Ronnie Jams: All this being said, this was the bone zone, so I'm going to go ahead and move us over to the Browns brief. [00:52:29] Speaker A: All right. [00:52:29] Ronnie Jams: I think we did a lot of our Browns brief during the bone zone, so it's kind of the same segment. [00:52:34] Kenny Thunder: The bone zone was a subsegment. [00:52:36] Ronnie Jams: Bone zone bleeds into the Browns brief. It used to be part of the Browns brief. Now it's the bone zone. The bone zone, Browns brief, it doesn't matter. [00:52:41] Kenny Thunder: Yeah, sometimes you just can't help but conversate. [00:52:43] Ronnie Jams: Yeah, we'll go through the Browns brief real briefly. First of all, Malik Collins signs a two year extension with the Browns. So he's been playing well so far this season and he got rewarded for it. [00:52:55] Kenny Thunder: So there has been a lot of pleasant surprises this year for this team. There's a lot of young talent developing, obviously the least of which is you. There's a lot of winning games. All of these things are good. The one person I've been impressed with more than anyone is Malik Collins. Just an older guy, veteran guy, but he. He looks like a guy that's playing 10 years younger than he is. [00:53:18] Speaker C: Is. [00:53:19] Kenny Thunder: Has been. Absolutely. [00:53:20] Ronnie Jams: I still look at him as a young player, so, I mean, he's got a lot of room to grow. [00:53:26] Kenny Thunder: I don't know how much room he has to grow, but he has been lights out this year. He's a really big guy. If he gets any bigger, dude, he might not be able to play. [00:53:35] Ronnie Jams: Next up here, the Browns have officially activated QB Dylan Gabriel. Thoughts here? [00:53:41] Speaker E: He's actually the secret weapon. He's going to be the one to succeed. Desean. [00:53:45] Kenny Thunder: See Bone, you're off the show. [00:53:50] Ronnie Jams: Bone knows I don't believe that. [00:53:52] Speaker E: Don't just clip that clip. [00:53:54] Ronnie Jams: That's that going to the beginning. [00:53:56] Kenny Thunder: That's the real. [00:53:56] Ronnie Jams: Yeah, [00:53:59] Kenny Thunder: look, I. We all knew that this was kind of coming and that the Dylan Gabriel ending up on IR was very convenient for the Browns if nothing else. Yeah, I think one of the few [00:54:09] Ronnie Jams: places where we could be sellers at the. At the trade deadline. [00:54:12] Kenny Thunder: Are you selling Dylan Gabriel? [00:54:14] Ronnie Jams: No, but there's desperate teams. I mean, think about all that. You just Talked about off air. We were talking about how Jalen hurts, might never play football again. Again, like fair. [00:54:23] Kenny Thunder: Yeah. [00:54:23] Ronnie Jams: There's some desperate teams out there. [00:54:26] Kenny Thunder: I don't know what are the. The Eagles are probably done for the year. Saquon's banged up. [00:54:33] Ronnie Jams: Are they going to draft one of these trash college quarterbacks? Are they going to go with Dylan Gabriel, who's I think NFL quarterback? [00:54:38] Kenny Thunder: I think at this point, I think the, the dynamics have changed for this team and I think going forward it makes more sense to think about conservative management of this team doing what's best to actually win games because they are winning games. If this team were two right now, I think you might have a different conversation about Dylan Gabriel. I think right now it makes sense to say Dylan Gabriel's probably your number three. If she do is your number two and desean is your starter. It doesn't make any sense to me to keep Taylor Green in the rotation. If you're trying to. We continue to win games right now. [00:55:11] Ronnie Jams: If they try moving to the practice squad, is someone else going to scoop them up? [00:55:15] Kenny Thunder: Is there really risk of that happening? Because teams passed on this guy for six rounds in the draft and we don't have any legit legitimate. Like he hasn't played. He hasn't even came in and played in. [00:55:27] Ronnie Jams: Ask this question. I could. This isn't a. This isn't something mean against Taylor Green. Like I could care less. I literally could care less because he's [00:55:36] Kenny Thunder: a really interesting part of the matter [00:55:38] Ronnie Jams: is like he is an interest interesting prospect and I think there's a lot of good things that we could get out of him as a quarterback. However, in order to develop that, we've got to be really bad. [00:55:49] Kenny Thunder: Yeah. [00:55:50] Ronnie Jams: Because he's just not there yet. If he's going to develop behind the scenes and event. But at that point you're also taking up a roster spot for somebody else that could be making the team. That could be helping. [00:55:59] Kenny Thunder: Well and I think like is someone going to sign him to their active roster? Right. Like, they might want him. They might be intrigued enough to say like we'd like him on our practice squad but like is that the move that like they're going to have to bring him in? So I don't know. There's a lot of risk to putting him on the practice squad. I think it makes sense to move Dylan Gabriel into the 53 man or 52 man or whatever they're however or we're calling these now with the emergency designated third quarterback. Like, however he's designated but, but I think it makes sense to activate him. [00:56:28] Ronnie Jams: I'm activated and I'm ready to go. [00:56:30] Kenny Thunder: I, I, I wish to some extent that the Browns had utilized Taylor Green in some kind of specialty package at some point this year on a two point conversion or short yardage situation. Something so we could kind of see if there was some, some use for him outside of being the fourth quarterback on this team. But they haven't. So to me that tells me me like there's no danger of him playing anytime soon. So I think it makes sense to move Dylan. [00:56:54] Ronnie Jams: How far we've come from, you know, week one. Going into week one, people were talking about Taylor Green is going to be the number two quarterback and Store Sanders is going to be the back, the emergency backup number three. And all this, I mean, I don't [00:57:07] Kenny Thunder: know, just, just winning changes a lot. [00:57:11] Ronnie Jams: Yeah, we already mentioned a couple times that was DeSean Watson's first 300 yard passing game for the Browns. Kind of embarrassing, but neither here nor there at this moment. [00:57:22] Kenny Thunder: The most embarrassing 300 yards anyone's ever thrown. [00:57:25] Ronnie Jams: I know it's embarrassing that it took this long is where I was going with that. [00:57:29] Kenny Thunder: It took until the end of his contract. [00:57:31] Ronnie Jams: Yeah. Next up, Andre Schmidt has three game winning field goals this season of 56, 37 and 32 yards respectively. He had one last year against the Green Bay packers from 55. So I say all this to say couple that with the fact that desean Watson has like four or five game winning drives in regulation or over in the last two minutes of regulation or overtime this season. And apparently the Browns are the most clutch team in the NFL. They have the most clutch kicker and the most clutch quarterback in the NFL. [00:58:05] Speaker E: Hell yes. [00:58:06] Kenny Thunder: Is there, is there a possibility that this is by design? That, that, that who would design this? No. The idea that like we just need to hang around long enough to, to have the ball last. Like is there a possibility that that is maybe Todd Monkins? [00:58:20] Ronnie Jams: I really do think that's part of, and we, we talked about this on Sunday. [00:58:23] Kenny Thunder: Just thinking about this team and where they're at right now. He knows that he can't really control a whole game. He knows he's not going to get four good quarters. If the message is guys, we got to be scrappy and we got to hang around and we need to, we need to be smart about clock management and we're going to put ourselves in a position to win games. We just have to make the plays that matter. [00:58:40] Ronnie Jams: I think there's something to that because especially when you're a young team, I mean the message like, look, you're not going to be perfect the entire game. You just can't let the game get away. [00:58:49] Kenny Thunder: Yeah. [00:58:50] Ronnie Jams: If you hang around, all it takes is a good, a solid like seven and a half minutes to win the game. Like that's basically what it takes, sometimes even less than that. [00:59:00] Kenny Thunder: So I mean, I think there's also considerable danger to that. [00:59:04] Ronnie Jams: Agreed. But I think that he's riding that wave of coaching right now. [00:59:09] Kenny Thunder: They could just as easily be 2 and 5 if they don't make the plays at the end of the game. [00:59:12] Ronnie Jams: Yeah, absolutely. But I, I think there is something to that of, of letting his team know, like, hey, I believe in you guys and as long as we're here at the end of the game, I think you guys will get it done. And I think that he coaches to that. Like he coaches when it counts, when it matters most. We're going to tighten up and we are going to get it done. [00:59:30] Kenny Thunder: Tighten those spinkers. I also want to say boo to the Tennessee Titans for robbing Andre Schmidt of five years yards for those field goals because 32 looks less impressive than 37 and we didn't need it. We didn't need it and he would [00:59:45] Speaker E: have made it anyway. [00:59:46] Kenny Thunder: They gave him that five yards and I don't like it. [00:59:49] Ronnie Jams: That was one of the few times where you see all these conspiracies about like betting and everything. And I was like, I do literally just ran off. Like he didn't even stop. He was just like, yeah, I'm off sides. Go ahead and throw the flag, go [00:59:59] Kenny Thunder: ahead and give it to him. [01:00:00] Ronnie Jams: And like it just makes you wonder with. I don't know, I don't know. Some of these side bets are wild. And then did you see the one earlier this in, in the day or it might have been about the same time. The one defender literally just like turned around and he anticipated the running back was going to cut across the field in the opposite direction and gave up like 30 more yards. Everybody's like, if this isn't a blatant missed tackle just for betting reasons, then I don't know what is. [01:00:25] Kenny Thunder: It's, it's, it's a real interesting thing we've done to the NFL with the gambling when and the NFL major sports [01:00:32] Ronnie Jams: leagues are in bed with the, all the betting organizations. Bad, bad conspiracies. [01:00:39] Kenny Thunder: The NFL has embraced it because every other commercial on TV is for. [01:00:44] Ronnie Jams: As you were saying, that fan was [01:00:46] Kenny Thunder: up kings cow like all of the Names and every year there's a new one. It's pretty wild and it's only so hot right now. It's only a matter of time before a player gets caught up in this. Right? And. And it's a bad look for the NFL when it happens. [01:01:00] Speaker E: The. The cow, she threw me off at first because the cereal is like Kashi. Right. [01:01:04] Kenny Thunder: I always think that, like, I'm like, [01:01:05] Speaker E: why is always breakfast cereal? [01:01:07] Kenny Thunder: Want me to bet on sports during. [01:01:10] Ronnie Jams: Guys, we're talking about cow way too much. Let's move on from C. They don't. [01:01:13] Kenny Thunder: They don't paying us. [01:01:14] Ronnie Jams: Yeah. With that, let's get into the division roundup. All right, so first up here, Cincinnati went to Baltimore and humped the Ravens. Who picked Baltimore 35 to 13? [01:01:34] Kenny Thunder: I did. [01:01:35] Speaker E: You. [01:01:37] Ronnie Jams: You. Your couch man shouldn't have done that. To be fair, I thought Lamar Jackson going to play and he did not. So risk we were willing to take. Yeah. And. And he didn't play and they got destroyed. I was wrong. You guys are right. Shut up. [01:01:52] Kenny Thunder: What if he would have shot you in the face? [01:01:55] Ronnie Jams: Harry, you're alive. Next up, Pittsburgh beat the Saints 16 to 10. Look, Pittsburgh keeps winning. I think I. I'm still pretty sure they're fraudulent. I mean, we keep winning too, like this. So I, you know, that should speak to how I feel about the Brown secretly. But yeah, I don't know if Pittsburgh is actually as. As everyone says there. But anyways, we were all right. We all picked them to beat the [01:02:18] Kenny Thunder: Saints, so they might be good. I'm a little worried that they're starting to get good. [01:02:22] Ronnie Jams: There is something to say about like, confidence, like getting these wins. And. [01:02:26] Kenny Thunder: And there's something that's to be said about culture. I know Mike Tomlin's gone, but that's a. It's a team that's used to winning. [01:02:32] Ronnie Jams: They're knocking on the door of not being under.500 again. [01:02:34] Kenny Thunder: Yeah. [01:02:34] Ronnie Jams: So. [01:02:35] Speaker C: Right. [01:02:36] Ronnie Jams: And then finally, Cleveland beat the Titans 27, 24. We were all right there. Nobody picked the correct score, though. And so the AFC north is. The standings are as follows. Cleveland still on top at 5 and 2. 2. Pittsburgh also at 5 and 2. But we hold the tiebreaker. So all you idiot Pittsburgh fans that just don't know anything about anything, which is all of you. Yeah. The Browns hold the tiebreaker, so they are in first place in the division, so suck it. [01:03:04] Kenny Thunder: The best team in the NFC south is Carolina right now is three and three. [01:03:10] Speaker A: Wow. [01:03:11] Kenny Thunder: Every team in the AFC north would be in first place. In the NFC South. [01:03:15] Ronnie Jams: Oh, yes. The Kentucky Bengals are four and two in third place. And then the Baltimore Ravens are at four and three and in last place. Feels bad. And they're. They're in trouble. Their defense, real bad, not good. And so current King of the north standings, Bone and Kenny are tied at 13 and 10, and I am behind them at 10 and 13. [01:03:35] Kenny Thunder: I feel like we were ahead of you by three games last week. [01:03:38] Ronnie Jams: Yeah, we all went 2 and 1. Oh, wait, no, we didn't. [01:03:44] Kenny Thunder: He's trying to pad the stats, trying to juke the numbers to get out of the King of the north punishment. [01:03:48] Ronnie Jams: I'll amend it right now. I think you guys are 14 and 9, and I am 10 and 13. [01:03:53] Kenny Thunder: Yeah. Yeah, we are. [01:03:54] Ronnie Jams: So don't worry. [01:03:56] Kenny Thunder: I'm a Hawk. I'll watch. [01:03:57] Ronnie Jams: Thank you. [01:03:58] Kenny Thunder: I'll police. I'll police the show. [01:04:00] Ronnie Jams: I'll fix it right now. Talk about something else while I fix the note. [01:04:04] Kenny Thunder: The good news is Ronnie Jams is in last place in case. In the North. [01:04:07] Ronnie Jams: No, shut up. I'm done. [01:04:09] Speaker C: I'm. [01:04:09] Ronnie Jams: I fixed it up. Let's take a quick trip around the NFL. All right, so Aaron Rodgers all over the NFL and owners this week while discussing international games. And I apologize ahead of time. There's gonna be. I have some long quotes here that I. I'm gonna throw out there. But he said in a quote, there was talk about doing a week, an international week, where he had. You had games in 16 different places, and you just added an extra by week. He went on to say, I think it would have been phenomenal for the game. Now, the owners wanted to push for 17 games for the extra. Extra revenue and because they care so much about player safety, but it would have been nice. And then he said, I wish there was a mandate, though, from the league. They would have had to open up their pocketbooks, too, which, you know, maybe they're a little tight on money and stuff. I think they should mandate every team coming over Sunday or Monday or really enjoy the culture of the place you're going. You can do events in those cities and outreach stuff and community work, but they won't because they're a little tight. So literally just all over them and said they. [01:05:21] Speaker A: They're. [01:05:21] Ronnie Jams: They're cheap and they don't want to do. And I think the. The most poignant point in this whole thing was when he said the player safety things we've talked about that a lot is like, it's. It's a farce. [01:05:33] Speaker A: Yeah. [01:05:34] Ronnie Jams: This whole. We care about players. You don't care about player. You only care about player safety until it affects the bottom line, and then you don't care about it. [01:05:40] Kenny Thunder: We just got into it about Jalen hurts in the blood clot scenario, so. Yeah, well. And I love anytime a player is taking shots at the league, especially around their finances, because we all know this league prince money. They, they, they are maybe the salary [01:05:55] Ronnie Jams: cap goes up like 30% every year. [01:05:56] Kenny Thunder: They're maybe the only organization on planet earth that prints more money than the federal government. Like, they literally. [01:06:04] Ronnie Jams: The World Series is going on right now. Nobody cares. [01:06:06] Kenny Thunder: It's Monday Night Football. [01:06:07] Ronnie Jams: Yeah, nobody cares. [01:06:10] Kenny Thunder: There's probably twice as many people watching Monday Night Football right now than they are watching the World Series. [01:06:13] Ronnie Jams: Stupid. It's stupid. Well, I mean, you know, Tampa Bay, they suck. [01:06:18] Kenny Thunder: I mean, I guess to be fair, it's the only reason we have a show. [01:06:21] Ronnie Jams: Yeah, yeah. I mean, I still want them to be around, but it's. It's fair to say that they are cheap as far as when it comes to anything that affects the bottom line and takes a little bit of money out of their pocket or makes it a little bit more difficult for the owners in the NFL as an organization, it's not gonna happen. [01:06:39] Kenny Thunder: And, and I don't know, like, the international games and I, I get it right. Again, it's all about the money. But to me, the international. Me, the money, the international games have kind of run their course. Like, I, I don't like they talk about a game in Tokyo now, next year, soon. [01:06:55] Ronnie Jams: They're going anywhere soon, any place, anywhere soon because they want to make this game global. [01:07:02] Kenny Thunder: And I don't have a problem so much with like once a year, a team traveling over there. What I have a problem with long term is the prospect of a real NFL franchise being across the pond or in South America. Like, I think, you know, Mexico City [01:07:17] Ronnie Jams: want them to have their own team, their own football team. It's the logistics behind the whole thing. [01:07:22] Speaker A: Right? [01:07:22] Kenny Thunder: Like, it's not about the fans or the money or any of that. It's about, like, I can't see how you can put players through traveling 16 hours or 20 hours to Australia or to England or to Tokyo or wherever. You know, places like Mexico City maybe make sense. Places like Toronto that are in the [01:07:40] Ronnie Jams: same time zones as NFL. [01:07:42] Speaker A: Right. [01:07:42] Kenny Thunder: Like, to where you can realistically travel to. I mean, we don't play games in Hawaii and that's in our own country because it's really far away. The fact that, like, I can't imagine a scenario in which you have a full time team over in one of those places and it seems like the probable destination is probably somewhere in Europe, in, in England, in Spain, in France. And I think it, you're going to have a really interesting time getting players to live there half the year to have their paychecks taken by some of their taxation policies. Like you have players here that make decisions on where to play based on wanting to live in tax Texas or in Florida because of the income tax rules there. Players that are in California, like we, we saw about the super bowl, like the, the money that they didn't make because the game was in California. So to, to have an, the idea that you're going to pay some of these guys and have. [01:08:32] Ronnie Jams: Maybe it's naive to think that salaries don't think about that stuff anymore. [01:08:35] Kenny Thunder: Yeah. So logistics and the money for the players, like, I think it's just all such a difficult conversation, but we just keep pushing the accelerator down to, to where we want to do this. [01:08:45] Ronnie Jams: Well and I think comments like this from players, like if you read between the lines, you know, they're not allowed to talk about it. But you, it's pretty clear how most of the players feel about it. [01:08:55] Kenny Thunder: And only a guy like Aaron Rodgers can. [01:08:57] Ronnie Jams: He's like, because he's like 45 years old, I can say what I want. [01:09:00] Kenny Thunder: Well, and he has enough money. Right. Like some of these younger players that maybe this stuff is on their mind, can't voice their concerns. They have to do it through the NFLPA and have somebody else do it for them. Aaron Rodgers is one of the only guys that has the ability, the clout in, in influence and the money to go ahead and take a, a fine from the league of, you know, something significant, 100,200, whatever they want to charge him. Like it's, it really doesn't matter to him. [01:09:24] Ronnie Jams: Yeah. Yeah. And I, to me, the, what you almost have to do is you have to make a whole separate international league and at that point you have to ramp that up too. It's almost got to be like a minor league until it's ready to go [01:09:39] Kenny Thunder: and then eventually failed. [01:09:41] Ronnie Jams: Right. Like, so I don't really know what the solution but like that's the only way is if you can somehow eventually bring it up to the level of the NFL and then you have like an international champion and an NFL champion and they play each other for the championship every year. [01:09:54] Kenny Thunder: I mean, think about the preseason football for a second. Like does anyone enjoy watching preseason football? [01:09:59] Ronnie Jams: No. [01:10:00] Kenny Thunder: No, and the reason why is because we're all watching the guys that are third, fourth and fifth string in the [01:10:04] Ronnie Jams: guys that would be starting this league. [01:10:06] Kenny Thunder: The guys that would be. Yeah. Like, there's not enough talent to play at the level of the original 36. [01:10:11] Ronnie Jams: Same reason why, as much as they try and push it, nobody cares about the ufl. [01:10:15] Kenny Thunder: Right. Right. I mean, I, like, I was excited about the prospects of having another league, especially a spring league, when I could watch football all year long. But, like, I think I've watched five USFL games. [01:10:24] Ronnie Jams: You know how many I've watched? None. [01:10:26] Speaker E: None. Just not the same. [01:10:27] Kenny Thunder: It's not the same because. [01:10:28] Ronnie Jams: Yeah. The level of play is not there. [01:10:30] Kenny Thunder: Yeah. [01:10:30] Ronnie Jams: So. [01:10:31] Kenny Thunder: And especially in those other countries where football isn't as big of a. A game as every other. [01:10:37] Ronnie Jams: And it's the whole fan part of it too. Like, you watch those games, stadiums are empty. Like, I don't want to watch a game where the stadium's empty. I want to hear the fans and hear all that coming through. And like, that's why college football is still great, is because the, the fans can legitimately change a game. You ain't getting that in the, the ufl. [01:10:53] Kenny Thunder: And. And look how much college football has. [01:10:55] Ronnie Jams: You could get that overseas, though. [01:10:56] Kenny Thunder: Look how much college football has had to change the, the makeup just to have competitive teams playing. Because, you know, we. We had for so many years, like the Ohio State's just running over the entire big tent. Like, you had to start bringing in your organs and your USCs to try and make these leagues competitive. And then you have, you know, the smaller teams like your Akrons and Kent's play each other for a reason because they get demolished every time they play a real program. Right. So I just think it's. It would be really, really hard to execute a. Any kind of international league. [01:11:26] Speaker A: Yeah. [01:11:26] Ronnie Jams: Sorry. Rabbit hole there, guys. The Rams, after a rough start to the season and some missed field goals, cut thicker kicker. Last week, the guy they. The guy. Yeah, the guy they signed to replace him, Blake Groupie, is all of about, I don't know, 156 pounds. [01:11:41] Speaker C: Yeah. [01:11:43] Ronnie Jams: In his first game with the team, he tried to make a special teams tackle and got absolutely obliterated. Torn ACL done for the season. [01:11:50] Kenny Thunder: They signed. They had the biggest kicker in the league, a guy that could make a tackle. Cut him. Signed a tiny guy. Signed the Dylan Gabriel of kickers who got obliterated trying to make a tackle. Injured immediately. [01:12:03] Ronnie Jams: Brandon McManus is now the kicker for. Yeah. [01:12:06] Kenny Thunder: So when it rains, it pours in la. [01:12:08] Ronnie Jams: Yeah. Next up here, some people are calling for Fernando Mendoza to start after the Raiders lost another one this past week. Clint Kubak, though, says there's no chance Kirk Cousins is their guy. [01:12:21] Kenny Thunder: I think there's three and three or three and four at this point. I don't know what you're playing for [01:12:24] Ronnie Jams: at this point, and I think they went three and. Oh, now I've lost every game since. [01:12:29] Kenny Thunder: Yeah, you get. You had to see Fernando Mendoz before the end of the year. Like, I don't. I don't know what sense it made makes to keep playing Kirk Cousins. [01:12:37] Ronnie Jams: Do you only turn it over when they're completely out of the playoff hunt? [01:12:40] Kenny Thunder: Other than the fact that they are paying Kirk Cousins a lot of money because he has the best agent in the game and gets the best chains, Baby. But. But I would think that they would want to start seeing the future sooner rather than later. [01:12:52] Speaker C: That's. [01:12:52] Ronnie Jams: Whatever comes out about that story when he was on the plane is everybody's like, oh, everybody gave him their chains to wear. No, those are just Kirk's chains because he makes that much money off of every contract anyways. Next up here, Baker Mayfield returned from injury in the Tampa Bay bunk. Buccaneers. Buccaneers humped the Carolina Panthers 43 to 13. Baker went 7 of 11 for 64 yards and a touchdown. Try and wrap your head around A team winning 43 to 13 with that stat line. [01:13:21] Kenny Thunder: I couldn't. I. I was shocked to see it, frankly. Like, I saw the. The box score and I was like, like, wow. Baker must have came back and had a huge day, and I was like, what happened? And it wasn't like I thought maybe he got hurt and somebody else played. Nope. He took every snap. [01:13:37] Ronnie Jams: That's crazy wild. I just had to put that. That's not even to. To like, throw Baker under the bus and say he was. It was just like, what. How does that happen? [01:13:45] Kenny Thunder: Yeah, it wasn't even like he had a bad game. He was. [01:13:47] Ronnie Jams: How does your team score 43 points and you only throw for 64 yards? [01:13:50] Kenny Thunder: He only threw the ball 11 times and he completed seven of them. So it wasn't like he played. Played bad from a passing standpoint, but it was just a very odd stat line. [01:13:58] Ronnie Jams: Bucky Irving, I think, had, what, two touchdowns, a bunch downs, a defensive touchdown. Yeah, yeah. Cam Scatter Boo got a personal foul in a fine from the NFL for lowering his head and essentially running too [01:14:12] Kenny Thunder: hard, too violent of a runner. [01:14:14] Ronnie Jams: He runs with too much reckless abandon when Asked how they feel about it, Harbaugh and Scatter Boo said they didn't know how to a feel, and maybe the league could enlighten them. [01:14:26] Speaker E: It's a great answer. [01:14:27] Kenny Thunder: I mean, it's. It's football. What are we doing here? [01:14:31] Ronnie Jams: This is the old Trent Richardson rule. They made this rule because of Trent Richardson, because he loved just lowering his head and spearing people as a running back. [01:14:38] Kenny Thunder: But it wasn't like he just put his head down and. And spear. Like, his head just happens to be attached to his torso. I mean, he lowered his whole body to try and I understand, but Trent [01:14:48] Ronnie Jams: Richardson, it was like. It was like, blatant, man. Like, it was the wildest thing I ever saw. He would literally run straight at you, and instead of, like, turning and putting his shoulder into you, it would just be crown of the helmet straight to your face. [01:14:58] Kenny Thunder: I still don't know how you can flag an offensive player for that, though. [01:15:02] Speaker E: There's also a really tight, I don't know, just, like, window of where he was. It was, like, right up the middle. It wasn't like, out in the open field where it was, like, blatantly obvious. He just trucked it. [01:15:11] Ronnie Jams: And that's a good point. Trent Richardson, his rookie year, he had, like, four of them that were just out in the open field. And instead of trying to, like, run a guy over, do something like, with his shoulder, it was literally like he lined him up. Helmet straight to the face. [01:15:25] Speaker E: Coleman, the strong safety, the High State who played for the Eagles, I just remember him popping his helmet off, just blowing him up. [01:15:32] Ronnie Jams: Yep. So. But yeah, I don't know. Apparently you're not. Running backs aren't allowed to running back anymore. [01:15:38] Kenny Thunder: I don't know how else you get CTE if you don't push. [01:15:41] Speaker E: You got to put your head. [01:15:42] Ronnie Jams: You got to get it somehow. [01:15:44] Speaker C: Cam. [01:15:45] Ronnie Jams: Scatter Boo is just putting his head through walls, so, you know, it doesn't. Whatever. [01:15:48] Kenny Thunder: He did do a cool backflip, though. [01:15:49] Ronnie Jams: Yeah, see, he's got that. [01:15:51] Kenny Thunder: Yeah, see? [01:15:53] Ronnie Jams: Next up, Garrett Wilson was seen yelling at someone on the bench this past week as the jets dropped another one, this time to Miami. That's pretty embarrassing. Aaron Glenn says things will get noisy if they continue to lose. Not sure what that means, but apparently the whole team's gonna be yelling at each other. [01:16:12] Kenny Thunder: The Browns lost to the Jets. [01:16:14] Ronnie Jams: That's true. [01:16:14] Kenny Thunder: That's embarrassing. Yeah. [01:16:16] Ronnie Jams: Well, we're five and two, first place in the division. [01:16:18] Kenny Thunder: That's true. Got that going for us, which is nice. [01:16:20] Ronnie Jams: You got to lose Some, you know, [01:16:21] Kenny Thunder: can't make them all. [01:16:22] Ronnie Jams: Yeah. Next up here, Miles Garrett, tracker still hurt. [01:16:27] Speaker E: Still hurt. [01:16:27] Ronnie Jams: Rams won this week, though, so they did that. It was against the Raiders. We just talked about this. The Raiders realized they suck. So easy win, I guess. [01:16:35] Kenny Thunder: Can I make a bold prediction? [01:16:36] Ronnie Jams: Rams still suck. What's up? [01:16:38] Kenny Thunder: I think the Rams pick and the Browns pick are going to end up back to back, back to back in the draft. [01:16:45] Ronnie Jams: I think it's true. [01:16:46] Kenny Thunder: I don't know what it'll be exactly. It might be like 18 and 19, but I think it's going to be a real cool draft night because I think we're going to literally have like back to back. It might be separated by like one pick, but it'll just be the Browns on the clock. Browns. [01:16:56] Ronnie Jams: We're going to have a nice live draft special. We'll bring our lights this year. But anyways, next up, Kevin Stefanski, tracker. Atlanta handed The San Francisco 49ers their first loss this week and Atlanta now sits at 3 and 4. And apparently Kevin is a good coach again. That's what everybody's talking about. He's just, he's just really, really good. So Substation. So, yeah, got them a lot of injuries over there in San Francisco. Yeah, they seem to have injuries every year. The only, the only team who has a worse strength and conditioning room group of coaches than the Browns is the San Francisco 49ers. That they practice next to a substation. [01:17:35] Kenny Thunder: Substation. [01:17:35] Ronnie Jams: Yeah, sure. And then finally, in our trip around the NFL, Akeb Talib called out Ryan Fitzpatrick for sucking in criticizing QBs this week. [01:17:49] Kenny Thunder: Fitzpatrick was talking about Bo Nicks basically playing uninspired football and said he was disrespecting the position. And the keep to leave basically said, you threw 170 career interceptions. Who are you to tell anyone what a good quarterback is? Which, look, I mean, none of us played the game and you know, we prognosticate on the game all day long. So that's what I kind of first thought. [01:18:11] Speaker E: I was like, it's kind of his job. [01:18:12] Kenny Thunder: I mean most of the guys that, that talk about football on the four Letter network and everywhere else really didn't play. I mean there's a lot of color guys that just say that. Color commentators, I'm sorry, I'm leaving out. I guess there's a lot of color commentators that, that did play like those. That's their role in the broadcast. But most of the guys that are talking about the game are just like journalists or whatever or radio guys. [01:18:42] Speaker E: I Mean, if that's your comeback, it. It's just kind of like low hanging fruit. [01:18:47] Kenny Thunder: Just kind of low hanging fruit. [01:18:48] Ronnie Jams: It's kind of like my comeback just now. Like that. Like my joke just now. [01:18:51] Kenny Thunder: It was just funny because it is kind of true. Like that. Ryan Fitzpatrick's Persona is blown up. [01:18:57] Speaker E: Sure. [01:18:58] Kenny Thunder: With being on the primetime broadcast, and people seem to just love everything. [01:19:02] Ronnie Jams: He's just a charisma, charismatic guy. Like, he just. [01:19:04] Kenny Thunder: But like, is he though, or was he just like, did he just become like the goofy, like, hey, I'm going to have fun on the broadcast guy? [01:19:12] Ronnie Jams: You know what? [01:19:12] Speaker C: Probably. [01:19:12] Kenny Thunder: Did he become a shtick of himself, [01:19:14] Speaker E: guy with a beard? And then people listen. [01:19:16] Kenny Thunder: Yeah. Like, start taking a shirt off on TV and they're like, oh, we love Ryan Fitzpatrick now. [01:19:20] Ronnie Jams: Between him and Jason Kelce, we have too many of these guys. [01:19:23] Speaker E: Yeah. [01:19:24] Kenny Thunder: Is that the verb for us? [01:19:26] Speaker A: Yeah. [01:19:27] Ronnie Jams: I want to take my shirt off too, Kenny. Speaking of fat guys taking their shirts off. [01:19:33] Kenny Thunder: Thank you. [01:19:34] Ronnie Jams: You're down to what, 100? What's the number now? [01:19:36] Kenny Thunder: I'm down £159 and almost not fast. [01:19:40] Ronnie Jams: Yeah, Mr. Thunder, you're getting close. You're almost not fat, guy. [01:19:43] Kenny Thunder: Now we're getting there. [01:19:44] Speaker E: Look at that shirt they just put on tv. [01:19:45] Ronnie Jams: Yeah. What? [01:19:47] Speaker E: The shirt, they went right up onto it. It said F Dallas, but actually the words, they didn't blur it out and they kept the camera right on it. [01:19:55] Kenny Thunder: Cameramen are getting wild. [01:19:56] Ronnie Jams: Anyways, Kenny, you know what it's time for? [01:19:59] Kenny Thunder: My guess is just based on the time of night and the point of the show that we're at is that it's time for a Brownsback or interview. [01:20:08] Ronnie Jams: That's correct. [01:20:14] Kenny Thunder: What do you say when we interview you? [01:20:17] Speaker A: All right. [01:20:17] Speaker C: Yes. [01:20:17] Ronnie Jams: That's a sometimes useful exercise. Please put your hand down. [01:20:21] Speaker E: Go ahead. [01:20:22] Kenny Thunder: How much money do you make a year before taxes? [01:20:26] Ronnie Jams: Okay, I'm actually not comfortable answering that. [01:20:29] Kenny Thunder: Come on, we're doing the interview now, not you. [01:20:36] Ronnie Jams: All right, guys, for this brownsbaggers interview, please help me welcome, hailing from Buffalo Wild Wings and Cross Lanes, West Virginia, president of the Charleston, West Virginia Brownsbaggers Day. Thank you so much for joining us. How are you today? [01:20:54] Speaker C: Going well, thank you. Thanks for asking me. [01:20:57] Ronnie Jams: Yeah, absolutely. You know, it's a big thing on our show is to have the brownsbackers on every week a different chapter, to kind of spotlight what they're doing, all the work they're doing with their communities and everything else. So. So with that, I mean, let's go ahead and tell us about your chapter, Dave. [01:21:13] Speaker C: Okay. We are called the Charleston, West Virginia Brownsbackers. We our watch site is in Cross Lanes, West Virginia. We started around 2019 and I've been president for these last two years, so I've just kind of taken over and got my feet wet a little bit. What we usually do is we have a raffle here and there. Not every week, but certainly week one, big week, Steeler week. We do 50 50. I go to Cleveland a couple times a year and try to buy as much swag and signed helmets and all that. And we take it back and raffle it off and we take a a I sent you guys a picture. We take a halftime picture every week. I upload it to the Browns forum site. Maybe you're familiar with that, I don't know. But that's something that we do and they like to have a head count of how many people we have signed up on the website. I'd say around 89 or so. But some of that's people that just have signed up that never have really showed up. And as you probably know, with the Browns poor record these last few years, it's tough, especially being here in West Virginia, to try to get fans because when I grew up, I'm 62, Browns were the team. But subsequently, as the years went by, Pittsburgh took over and there's so many Steeler fans around here. So it's really hard to get a big even though they don't have a Club. You know, Brownsbackers are there's 300 plus presidents. They're all over the world. And we're pretty passionate and we cheer. We have a whole group and say that's another Cleveland Browns first down. I mean, we got some pretty big fans. And so then we do a little get together in a parking lot. We fellowship real well. Some of us go to games together. And as I this is my second year into it, I'm trying to get a bigger following following. I've got a text train where all of us got on there. So we're building up and we that picture that I sent you guys had about 25 to 27 people in it. And the Browns have to do their part. I've always said that they have to win games so we can get all fired up. And this coming Sunday, as you guys are well aware, is the Pittsburgh Steelers in Pittsburgh for first place and we haven't won there in 23 years. [01:23:55] Ronnie Jams: It's all about to change, baby. [01:23:59] Speaker C: We need to show up and show out. [01:24:02] Ronnie Jams: Hell yeah. Well, listen, you kind of nailed it right there. Right. So that's part of the reason why, you know, I reached out to you and we wanted to have you guys on is because we. [01:24:10] Kenny Thunder: We. [01:24:10] Ronnie Jams: We kind of follow the team around as they go everywhere and feed feature clubs that are, you know, in that area, in enemy territory. Yeah. And while. While I understand you guys are not in Pennsylvania, I just. Looking at the map, I had a feeling that that whole territory around you was. Was Steelers nation. [01:24:29] Speaker C: And. Well, if you go north, you know where Wheeling is, if you're familiar with the Wheeling area and Fairmont and Morgantown, where the. Our Mountaineers are. If you can see my shirt, we have an outlier line of West Virginia with the Brownie holding a musket and some coal picks because obviously we're known for coal. But you go northern West Virginia, they're Steeler fans, and they, you know, they don't like us. We don't like them. But you go a little further south, there's more Browns fans and we're, you know, where. I'm kind of centrally located, I live in St. Albans, West Virginia, but I work in Charleston, West Virginia. So it's kind of right in the heart. But there's. If we would win, we'd get more fans. They're real simple. [01:25:18] Ronnie Jams: Yeah. Well, I, you know, hopefully things are changing a little bit. I don't know if it's just something in the air this. This year. Todd Monkins got him heading in the right direction, but we've enjoyed some winning early on in the season, and we [01:25:28] Speaker C: hope to keep it up. [01:25:28] Ronnie Jams: But you mentioned some of the raffles and things you're doing. Are you guys working with any charities or doing any community service there locally? [01:25:37] Speaker C: The thing we have going on or starting to come up. I've had the animal shelter hit me up and want to do some work since we're the dog pound. And I think one of the animal shelter people came to Buffalo just to watch Buffalo Wild Wings, to watch the game. They said, hey, you know, I'd like to do something with you. And I said, well, you know, we're all about trying to promote our thing, so maybe we can do something with you there. So if we can help out the local animal shelter, you know, we'll do that. That's under construction right now, so to speak. So we do that. We're very small. When I took it over, I mean, we had zero money. I mean, and we. And we had a smaller group of people that showed up because, you know, well, what. We went five games last Year and three the year before. So I'm trying to figure all of that out, but when I go to that, you know, I'm know you guys have heard about the summit, the President summit. You know, I talked to a lot of presidents. What do you guys do, you know, and all that, just to try to get a little more organized. So from that standpoint, we're still figuring it out, but I think we're in a pretty good direction because as long as they're winning and, you know, I design these shirts and I sell these shirts just to try to get some. Some money, you know, I put in. I know they told me not to put in your own money, but you got to do that to start it up and just to try to get this ball rolling and the people like it and it's festive. And when we win and fellowship, then, you know, then the money starts coming in and then we can obviously give more away. [01:27:16] Ronnie Jams: Yeah. And definitely just, you know, keep on keeping on because it does take a little bit of time to get these things going. Talking to all these different presidents and what they've gone through, the trials and tribulations to get. Get their chapters off the ground. I mean, it is. It's hard work, and we appreciate everything that you guys are all doing. [01:27:33] Kenny Thunder: It definitely helps when they win. [01:27:36] Ronnie Jams: It does, it does. [01:27:39] Speaker C: This is the first time since I've been president that they want. [01:27:43] Kenny Thunder: Absolutely. [01:27:44] Speaker C: So I'm seeing the fruits of that. And if we can get the kids involved, you know, they give us a packet, you know, US Presidents a pocket when we go there for the summit, and it's got a few goodies in it, and it's really according to how much members you have, is how big a packet they give you. But I like to give the kids some of that stuff when they come in or give it away as a. Either raffle gift or whatever we do just to try to make the, you know, the people happy. I mean, they're not going to come back if they feel like you're just ignore them or you're not. They want some benefit of being a man. And if they're not getting the victory out of it, then they're going to get some fellowship. Maybe I'll buy you beer. Maybe, you know, I'll buy somebody a dinner or just to create a good atmosphere. Really? [01:28:35] Ronnie Jams: Yeah, absolutely. [01:28:37] Kenny Thunder: Now, Dave, are you from the Northeast Ohio area, or how did you become a Browns fan? [01:28:42] Speaker C: I was born in South Charleston, West Virginia, and my father, he was an athlete. He played college basketball at the Time it was called Morse Harvey. Currently it's the University of Charleston. So he was a big sports fan. My grandfather was an athlete, so I was put in front of a TV and basically told to watch sports. So we grew up around here in South Charleston, or Charleston. I mean, they're right beside each other. And we were Jerry west fans, so we became Laker fans in basketball. And so in baseball, it was the Cincinnati Reds. I was a Pete Rose. I idolized Pete Rose. I got scars on my forearm from head sliding, you know, like he did. But in football, my dad would set me in front of the tv. And the Browns were always on because they were good. I was born in 64, and they won their championship. Last championship in 64. So I'll just make you the good [01:29:47] Ronnie Jams: luck charm or the bad luck charm. [01:29:51] Speaker C: Well, I have a. I have a T shirt that says, rebuilding since 1964, so take that for what you will. So anyway, he looked at me and I was just loving what the Browns were doing. And it was in the mud, and Leroy Kelly was running around, around and sliding around, and I thought, man, that's cool. And he saw I was excited and said, is that your. Is that your team? And I went, yeah. And he said, okay. And he started to write letters to the Cleveland Browns, and, you know, they would send me their roster, team picture, and, you know, so my father really was good at perpetuating what I was getting into. He was really good that way, and that's awesome. [01:30:37] Ronnie Jams: Doomed you to a life of misery. [01:30:40] Speaker C: Yeah, well, you know, I have a son. And I told him, okay, listen, you're going to be a Browns fan, but it's going to be tough, buddy. And some people might make fun of you, but you. You just gotta. You gotta fight back. And he is. And he was with me in that picture I sent you guys. He was right there with his arm over my. So he. You know. But that's rare that you get a kid that's 36, you're all's age, roughly, who's a Browns fan from West Virginia. But I made sure he was. [01:31:12] Ronnie Jams: It definitely builds character, that's for sure. In Ohio nowadays, there's so many, you know, because there was the off years where the Brown. You know, there was no team here. There's so many Steelers fans. [01:31:24] Kenny Thunder: And they've been bad for 25. [01:31:26] Ronnie Jams: They've been bad for 25 years. You got the Bengals fans that are kind of infiltrating from the south, like, it's hard to be a Browns fan, man. [01:31:32] Kenny Thunder: That's built character. [01:31:33] Speaker C: Well, I mean, when's the last time we won the the division forever. [01:31:37] Ronnie Jams: The Wheelers have won it more recently than the Browns have. [01:31:43] Kenny Thunder: That's a great segue, Dave. When's the last time the Browns were in first place? [01:31:48] Speaker C: I think somebody said solely was like [01:31:51] Ronnie Jams: 2014 for Brian Hoyer year right before they turned it over to Johnny Manziel, who promptly took the team in the promised land. [01:31:59] Speaker C: I mean, unless you guys accept cut cuss words don't bring up Johnny Manziel. [01:32:04] Ronnie Jams: We do, but you know, we don't have to get too deep into the. The Johnny Manziel era. But no, you know, let me ask [01:32:13] Speaker C: you this about Johnny Manziel, if I can. [01:32:15] Ronnie Jams: Yeah, go ahead. [01:32:16] Speaker C: I mean I knew as a fan, I watch a lot of college football and I knew Johnny Manziel was a drunk. I. I read where his father was worried about. About him. So what are we Drafting with a first round draft pick? A less than 6 foot tall drunk, [01:32:39] Ronnie Jams: a guy on the side. [01:32:40] Speaker C: What happened? [01:32:40] Ronnie Jams: Jimmy Haslam. That he should do it. [01:32:42] Kenny Thunder: Why wouldn't you draft him? [01:32:43] Speaker C: Is that true though? I mean, did that. [01:32:46] Ronnie Jams: That's a verified story. That's a. That's a verified story. [01:32:51] Speaker C: And you know, if you're whoever the GM was at that point and somebody texts you like Johnny Manziel and says come get me, that's the last thing I'm doing is coming get. I mean that's not. That's not a leader of men. I mean he wasn't a leader of men. [01:33:10] Kenny Thunder: Lessons, Lessons learned. [01:33:11] Ronnie Jams: I mean, hindsight 20 20, they could have literally picked anybody else and it [01:33:15] Kenny Thunder: would have been better. [01:33:15] Ronnie Jams: But you know, it wasn't all him. It wasn't at the same year as Justin Gilbert. So like it was just a really bad draft. [01:33:22] Speaker C: Yeah. Yeah. I was at Johnny Manziel's first game against Cincinnati. I don't know if you remember that. The first game that he started and we lost 30 to nothing. So I was already pissed off that we drafted and then we lose 30 to nothing. Yeah. I mean it just one game. [01:33:41] Ronnie Jams: That's all day. [01:33:44] Speaker C: Remember he went to Vegas. Yeah. [01:33:46] Ronnie Jams: Billy, man. [01:33:47] Kenny Thunder: Billy Manziel. [01:33:49] Speaker A: Yeah. [01:33:50] Speaker C: Yeah. [01:33:51] Kenny Thunder: Dave, Dave, look, all that is is in the past, right? The Browns are in first place. We're five and you brought him up. It's new virgin lives, man. [01:33:58] Speaker A: You're. You're. [01:33:59] Ronnie Jams: The reason Kenny's changing subjects so fast is because Johnny Manziel is just like his spirit animal. He just wishes he could live like Johnny Manziel. [01:34:09] Kenny Thunder: Reckless Abandon. [01:34:10] Speaker C: Pick somebody else. [01:34:12] Ronnie Jams: Pick somebody else. That's the best advice you ever got, Kenny. No, but let's switch gears. Talk about the actual football team right now. You mentioned it, Kenny. First place, Dave. I think you mentioned that as well. First place going into Pittsburgh. And it's, it's again, for, you know, these are the games that pressure's on. It's for the outright lead in the division. And I mean, what more can you ask for? These are the things that Cleveland Browns fans have been begging for for years. So with all that being said, Dave, what's going to happen in this one and what, what's the score that you have this thing at at the end of the. [01:34:46] Speaker C: I guess you want real truth here, right? [01:34:50] Ronnie Jams: Yeah, absolutely. We don't want you to sugarcoat it. [01:34:55] Speaker C: All right, well, here, here's, here's the deal. We've lost 23 straight in Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh has a better offensive rank than us, roughly speaking, coming from ESPN or they're about, you know, they're 20th, we're 26th. Defense, I think they're sixth and we're 14th. Their quarterback is better than our quarterback. Warren's a better running back than Quin. Sean Judkins, our offensive line, line, I mean, I don't know. I don't, I don't know what I'm looking at half the time there. So. And their defensive front is better than our defensive front. I think we got them on linebackers, but when you, when you mix that in there, it's going to be tough. It does not look like, I mean, I'm sure. What's the spread on this game? Four, five, six? [01:35:51] Kenny Thunder: Three and a half four. [01:35:53] Speaker C: Okay, three and a half four. We're going to have to. And, and they lead, by the way. They lead in the turnovers. I think we're zero differential. Like we're nine and nine and they're plus four. I mean, it's, it's going to be a nice day. So if I was a homer, I'd say, yeah. Of the Browns, 23:17. But you guys, you [01:36:24] Ronnie Jams: want, we want the truth, Dave. [01:36:25] Speaker C: So if you can handle the truth. You know, I think the Steelers, if I was Betty, man, and I am not that. I'm betting this game. I'm not betting this game. [01:36:36] Ronnie Jams: But this isn't betting advice for anybody that's listening. [01:36:40] Kenny Thunder: Yeah, we don't. [01:36:41] Ronnie Jams: Just Dave's a betting man. Just Dave. [01:36:44] Speaker C: Yeah. Dave Hoffman's betting advice was take the Browns last week, which I did against Tennessee, which was the bottom ranked team and we had to wait till the last three seconds to win. But I imagine the odds and the sense would go with Pittsburgh winning this game and the, you know, Pollard ran for 120 some yard. What do you think Warren's going to do if we don't tighten it up? So that's fair. Pittsburgh 23, Cleveland 13. [01:37:21] Kenny Thunder: There it is. [01:37:21] Speaker C: That's the truth boys. [01:37:23] Kenny Thunder: First, first place was short lived. [01:37:25] Ronnie Jams: We can, we can handle the truth. It doesn't make it any less sad. [01:37:31] Kenny Thunder: Weird year. [01:37:33] Speaker C: You guys have more life to live. I mean we need to win now for me, okay. I don't have as many years as you guys got. [01:37:42] Kenny Thunder: Tomorrow is guaranteed to no man. You may have me by a good 20 years, my friend. [01:37:48] Speaker C: Now the caveat to the whole thing is if we knock Rodgers out fair and square, how about this? How about Jared Verse get off his ass and hit somebody and sack the quarterback back. [01:38:05] Ronnie Jams: I actually we, we'll get into this later in our episode but I'm actually predict predicting a big game from Jared Verse because he's going to do something. He was fired up at the end of the Steelers game last time because of all the, the chirping that they were doing towards the end of the game and they were getting kind of chippy with him. So I, I have some big things from Jared versus this one. [01:38:24] Speaker C: Just because you chirp. I play, you know, sports, I play different sports. You know if you're chirping at me that, that's not going to influence me. That's just going to make me play harder. So you know, you don't just play good because. Yeah, I want to play hard. You know, you got to execute well. I mean he's had seven games to execute and all of a sudden he's not feeling because he's pissed off. He's going to have a great game. I mean I just, that's what we're banking on, Dave. [01:38:53] Ronnie Jams: That's what I'm going with. [01:38:55] Speaker C: I don't think it works like that. I mean I get pissed off quite a bit but doesn't mean I perform well. [01:39:02] Ronnie Jams: You know, if I'm playing actually perform worse from experience. [01:39:05] Speaker C: There you go. [01:39:06] Ronnie Jams: Like I get angry and then bad things happen. [01:39:08] Speaker C: But that's right, that's right. That's why you need to be composed. Yeah. [01:39:13] Ronnie Jams: Composure is not really in my vocabulary. [01:39:15] Kenny Thunder: Composure is a virtue. [01:39:17] Speaker C: But as a radio host you really, you can, you know, not be so composed. And I mean I listen to a lot of the ESPN Cleveland. I listened to 92.3 and you know I mean, they're just. I know that it's a personality driven and performance sometimes because you want to entertain, but players need to, they need to tighten it up in a play like Carson Schlesinger. Have your head on your shoulder, be tough, but you don't have to be crazy and you know, be excited when you do something good. But, you know, that's why I like him. He's just a level head, straightforward, tough guy. [01:39:56] Kenny Thunder: Dave is doling out all the life advice tonight. [01:39:58] Ronnie Jams: Well, and with that advice, Dave, you know, I, we, we want to stay on and talk to you all night. Unfortunately, we have a long show that we have to record. But I, I just think that's a good piece of advice to, to end this thing. [01:40:09] Kenny Thunder: Yeah, perfect. [01:40:10] Ronnie Jams: You know, message to the players, guys, get it together, get it in the game. But Dave, I just want to tell you, thank you so much for joining us. Thank you for the commentary I, on the game and you heard it here first. Dave Hoffman's letting everybody know we aren't staying in first place. It's going to be 23 to 13 Steelers. [01:40:27] Kenny Thunder: It's not betting info. [01:40:28] Ronnie Jams: It's not betting info, but no guidance. But that's. If Dave were a betting man, and he is, that's what he would do. [01:40:34] Speaker C: Well, just, just remember that, you know, when, when our kicker Schmidt missed a kick and the coach said, what do you think he was going to do? Not miss kick the rest of his career. Just because if, if we lose this game doesn't mean we're not going to win the division. It doesn't mean we're not going to make the playoffs. It's this game at this time now, the big benchmark. I guess you guys know this or have talked about it. Most people are, this is the game you want. Are you good? Then beat Pittsburgh and Pittsburgh and step it up. [01:41:05] Kenny Thunder: So Dave took us down just to build us back up again. He's back because we're still going to win the division. [01:41:10] Ronnie Jams: We're going to win the division. [01:41:11] Kenny Thunder: I love it. [01:41:13] Ronnie Jams: We got, we got a double dose of predictions from Dave today and great life advice. Yeah. Hell yeah. Dave. [01:41:19] Speaker C: This old. You got a lot, a lot to give back to the young kids. [01:41:23] Ronnie Jams: Oh, we appreciate it. [01:41:25] Kenny Thunder: We're idiots. [01:41:25] Ronnie Jams: We need all the advice we can [01:41:26] Kenny Thunder: get and keep sharing that advice with your team, with your, with your chapter and keep growing that chapter. We appreciate all the good work you guys are doing down there. [01:41:34] Speaker C: Well, thank you very much for asking me. It was out of the blue. I don't even Know how you got a hold of me, But I do appreciate it. [01:41:40] Ronnie Jams: I got connections, man. I know all the Browns backers. Dave, again, thank you so much. We appreciate it. [01:41:46] Kenny Thunder: Thanks, Dave. [01:41:47] Speaker C: You're welcome. Thank you. We are the Charleston, West Virginia Browns backers. And you are listening to Burning River Sportscast. Go Brown, [01:42:08] Kenny Thunder: West Virginia Mountain mama, take me home country Road. [01:42:17] Ronnie Jams: Good time talking to Dave with the Charleston, West Virginia brownsbaggers, huh? [01:42:21] Kenny Thunder: Dave was a super nice fella. I didn't have the heart to tell Dave about my love for Johnny Manziel in the truest fashion. [01:42:30] Ronnie Jams: He doesn't like him. [01:42:31] Kenny Thunder: He don't like, like him. But we were having such a pleasant conversation, so I didn't want to blow it up. [01:42:37] Ronnie Jams: Yeah, yeah. That could have taken a turn. I mentioned it a little bit, but I didn't get too deep into that. Because you like Johnny a lot. He's your spirit animal. [01:42:48] Kenny Thunder: I just love his. I love the. The reckless abandon that he has with life. [01:42:53] Ronnie Jams: Yeah. [01:42:54] Kenny Thunder: I just wish I could care so little about anything. [01:42:57] Ronnie Jams: If anybody wants just a. Just a peek behind the curtain at just how much of a degenerate Kenny is, just use that. His. His role model in life is Johnny Manziel. [01:43:10] Kenny Thunder: I just don't know how you roll out of bed every day and you just go, you know what? I'm just gonna F up everyone's day. [01:43:15] Ronnie Jams: Just gonna set the world on fire, [01:43:17] Kenny Thunder: let it all burn. [01:43:18] Speaker E: An entire NFL franchise. [01:43:20] Kenny Thunder: He does it every day. [01:43:22] Ronnie Jams: He still does it. [01:43:23] Speaker A: And he's. [01:43:23] Ronnie Jams: He, like, trolls Cleveland every chance. [01:43:24] Kenny Thunder: He's still blaming everyone else for all his problems. [01:43:27] Ronnie Jams: Hey, Dave would be upset that we're talking about Johnny Manziel and not. Not reminiscing about how great that conversation was with him. [01:43:33] Kenny Thunder: That was a. Dave's a nice guy. [01:43:35] Speaker E: Dave was thoughtful, and he told her how it was. [01:43:38] Ronnie Jams: Yeah. [01:43:38] Speaker E: He didn't hold back on the production [01:43:40] Kenny Thunder: for the great life advice. [01:43:41] Ronnie Jams: Yeah. I was gonna say I like how he gave life advice to all of us youngsters. [01:43:44] Kenny Thunder: Yeah. [01:43:44] Ronnie Jams: And it makes. Makes me feel young again when he's calling me a youngster. I like how he subtly dropped in the middle of that. My son is your age. [01:43:52] Kenny Thunder: I was like, my hair went from gray back to brown. [01:43:55] Ronnie Jams: It didn't. [01:43:56] Kenny Thunder: While he was still. [01:43:57] Ronnie Jams: You're still silver. I've never met somebody. You've had silver hair since you were, like, 24 years old. [01:44:02] Kenny Thunder: That's true. [01:44:03] Ronnie Jams: It's wild. Anyways, we talked a little bit about it with Dave, but I think it's time to dive into this Week's game with the Week 8 preview. Guys, I'm pumped for this one. [01:44:22] Kenny Thunder: You are? [01:44:23] Ronnie Jams: Yeah, I'm ready. Round two with the Steelers this time in Pittsburgh with the division lead on the line. This is why we play the game. [01:44:30] Kenny Thunder: You play to win the game. [01:44:32] Ronnie Jams: You play to win the game. [01:44:35] Kenny Thunder: All the games. [01:44:36] Ronnie Jams: Yeah. You can't win them all. [01:44:37] Kenny Thunder: You can't? No. But you can't just play one either. True. [01:44:40] Ronnie Jams: I don't really know where this advice is going. We're not as good as Dave at giving advice. But anyways, with every preview comes another edition of Kenny's Cliff Notes. And today you have your notes. [01:44:51] Kenny Thunder: I do have my notes. Cliffs Notes or Cliff Notes? [01:44:57] Ronnie Jams: I will never answer this question again. [01:45:00] Kenny Thunder: Kenny's Cliffs Notes. [01:45:03] Ronnie Jams: What do you got? [01:45:04] Kenny Thunder: We'll keep this short since we just previewed the Steelers about. [01:45:08] Ronnie Jams: I don't know if you noticed four weeks ago, before you get started, Dave basically gave all the numbers. [01:45:12] Kenny Thunder: Yeah, I don't even know that we [01:45:13] Ronnie Jams: need to do a preview. [01:45:14] Kenny Thunder: Dave. Dave pretty much said Browns are going to lose and here's all the numbers. [01:45:17] Speaker C: Yeah, so. [01:45:17] Kenny Thunder: So we're good, I think. [01:45:19] Speaker E: But Cleveland, good night. [01:45:22] Kenny Thunder: We'll keep this short since we already previewed the Steelers once this year, so. Brow Steelers Part 2. The battle for first place starts with head coach Mike McCarthy. Mike McCarthy. I can't talk. Sorry. Boasting a 5 and 2 record since the end of the Mike Tomlin era, McCarthy brings extensive NFL experience and an even bigger appetite. Word is he's already been banned by the. [01:45:49] Speaker A: Word. [01:45:51] Kenny Thunder: Word is he's already been banned by Primanti Brothers, Brian Angelicio. Angelo Angela Angelicio. [01:46:02] Ronnie Jams: It's the Steelers. Anything else continues is the OC after [01:46:06] Kenny Thunder: spending last season in Minnesota where he worked as a tight ends coach and passing game coordinator. And Patrick Graham is the defensive coordinator. Aaron Rodgers has had a fast start to 2026, throwing for nearly 1700 yards, 13 touchdowns and just five interceptions on the season. He's also been taking no prisoners every time he gets in front of a microphone, blasting the NFL, playing politic and reminding us of his torrid affairs. Say what you want about him as a player, but he has at least been entertaining off the field. Jalen Warren brings burst receiving ability and the potential to create yards after contact and is making a name for himself now that he's out of the shadow of Najee Harris, currently seventh in the league in rush yards. And he's complimented by Dallas Hill runner Rico Dowdle. [01:46:48] Ronnie Jams: Why you doing this? [01:46:51] Kenny Thunder: My. My. My chesticles were in the way of my computer. I couldn't see I was holding them back. DK Metcalf, Michael Pittman. I'm going to change it to bone. Michael Pittman Jr. And Pat Friermuth are Rogers top targets with a useful mix of size, physicality and route running ability. DK seems to finally be using his muscles to catch the ball, which is good for him, bad for opposing defenses. Darnell Washington continues to play keep away from short dbs and is a weapon in short yardage and in the middle of the field. Pittsburgh's offensive line is ranked seventh currently, but that didn't stop the Browns from bringing down Aaron Rodgers five times in part one. [01:47:31] Ronnie Jams: Five times. [01:47:32] Speaker C: Five. [01:47:32] Kenny Thunder: Five time. Cam Hayward is the veteran anchor up front. T.J. watt, Alex Highsmith, Peyton Wilson and Patrick Queen are disrupted. And top of the line Jalen Ramsey and Jaquan Brisker bring experience and physicality in the back end. Back end Chris Boswell and Cam Johnson brought Johnston round out the specialists. Bottom line, the Steelers are a difficult matchup because they have legitimate threats on both sides of the ball. Can the Browns protect the Sean and keep TJ Watt and company in check by controlling the line of scrimmage? And can they contain an offense that seems to be gaining momentum under the veteran tutelage of Aaron Rodgers? That's all I got. Go Browns. [01:48:11] Ronnie Jams: To answer your question, go Browns. I don't know. [01:48:13] Kenny Thunder: I don't know. [01:48:15] Ronnie Jams: But I'm. I'm going to help break this down a little bit further because with every edition of Kenny's Cliff Notes becomes another comes another edition of Ronnie Jam matchups. [01:48:34] Speaker E: Still don't know. [01:48:36] Ronnie Jams: All right, I got a couple matchups for you here. [01:48:38] Kenny Thunder: How many? [01:48:39] Ronnie Jams: Two. Nice and full disclosure, these are the same matchups from the first round with the Steelers because they actually do matter. They did matter the first time around. So Mason Graham versus the interior offensive line. The first time around, he was having just a torrid start to the season. Sacks left and right. So many sacks. But then he got hurt. So, you know, we. We got him back this last game, [01:49:03] Kenny Thunder: and then he got hurt again. [01:49:04] Ronnie Jams: And then he got hurt again. But he's supposed to play this week, [01:49:06] Kenny Thunder: so he came back. [01:49:08] Ronnie Jams: He's back on the field. Full week of practice, hopefully. Just want to see if he can get back to his disruptive ways. Put another sack up there on the board. Mentioned we had five sacks last time, so a lot more. [01:49:20] Kenny Thunder: Jar Graham. [01:49:21] Ronnie Jams: Mason Jar Graham. Best nickname in the game. [01:49:23] Kenny Thunder: One man, one jar. [01:49:25] Ronnie Jams: No, no. Nobody Google that. Nobody google that. Next up here TJ Watt and Cam Hayward vs Spencer Fano and Titus Howard. Last time they played, these guys were in the backfield a lot. They didn't get a lot of sacks, but they were just disruptive. As you mentioned in in your cliff notes, there so many sacks. TJ Watt did get a sack in the last one. Cam Hayward did not. But it's been a few weeks. The offensive line has continued to get, get better. We'll see how they stack up. Now, another big test this week because that front seven, especially these two guys for Pittsburgh, is pretty darn good. So in summary, the Steelers current record is 5 and 2 coming off a win against the Saints. So far this season they are number six overall on defense with 303.7 yards per game given up. Their past defense ranks number 11 at 212.7 yards. The run defense ranks number 7 at 91 yards per game. On offense they are number 20 in the NFL, 323.7 yards per game. Their running game ranks 20 at 106.1 yards per game and their passing game also ranks 20 at 217.6 yards per game. Balanced offense, not a very good one. So balanced. The Browns on the other hand, current record 5 and 2 coming off another last second win, this time against the Titans. So far this season, defensively this number's starting to come down here. You guys will notice that they're at number 12 now overall in the NFL at 318.1 yards per game. Their past defense is number 7 at 201.7 yards per game. The run defense is number 20 at 116.4 yards per game. On offense they ranked number 24 at 299.4 yards per game. We're almost at 300 yards per game. Almost there. [01:51:10] Speaker E: Almost. [01:51:11] Ronnie Jams: The running game is number 19 at 106.7. So we've improved there from the last game. In the passing game, they're number 24 in the NFL at 192.7 yards per game. But in every game there's that one thing that if executed properly, unlocks the path to victory. So let's bring in the big bone man, because we like to call that thing bone man, skeleton key to victory. [01:51:40] Speaker E: So last game we had 14 penalties for 88 yards. Earlier in the show I heard Mr. Thunder say that teams together combined are averaging 15 a game. So we single handedly covered that at the last game in penalties. So I guess my key to victory is just, yeah, play a clean game. [01:52:02] Ronnie Jams: How clean? [01:52:03] Speaker E: 5 or under I don't know if you want to beat the Pittsburgh Steelers, maybe throw a couple turnovers in there, but I don't know. I was just going to talk about the penalties and how terrible it was the last game we still managed to win. But I mean, what. What we haven't won in Pittsburgh in a very long time, and they were oh and 10 on Thursday night Football, and we hadn't lost on Thursday Night Football, so just all the. All the cards are in our favor for history, but yeah, it's. [01:52:28] Ronnie Jams: It's flipped this time with 23 in a row lost in Pittsburgh. So hopefully we break that, though. [01:52:34] Speaker C: But. [01:52:34] Speaker E: Yeah. [01:52:34] Ronnie Jams: So penalties. Yeah. [01:52:36] Speaker E: Play clean game. [01:52:37] Ronnie Jams: How clean? [01:52:38] Kenny Thunder: Clean it up. [01:52:39] Speaker A: I don't know. [01:52:39] Speaker C: Five. [01:52:39] Speaker E: Five or under. Penalties here. [01:52:41] Kenny Thunder: He said five or under. Why you keep asking? [01:52:42] Speaker E: Yeah, I don't know how else to say it. [01:52:43] Ronnie Jams: I was distracted by a commercial. [01:52:45] Kenny Thunder: Keep asking the same question over and over and over again. [01:52:47] Ronnie Jams: That's what we. [01:52:48] Kenny Thunder: What is this? The Bernie river sportscast? [01:52:49] Ronnie Jams: That's what we do. Kenny, what's the betting info? [01:52:53] Kenny Thunder: We covered the betting info with Dave. [01:52:55] Speaker E: So [01:52:57] Ronnie Jams: three and a half, Steelers minus [01:52:59] Speaker C: three and a half. [01:53:00] Ronnie Jams: What's the over, Under? [01:53:00] Kenny Thunder: You didn't give us that over. Under is 38 and a half. [01:53:03] Ronnie Jams: Okay. My player to watch this week is Jared Verse. Jared Verse, something in the last game got under his skin. I don't know if there was. I don't know if it was chippiness or somebody saying something during the game or whatever the case was, but after the game, he made it known that he thought the Steelers were classless and he can't wait to play him again. [01:53:24] Kenny Thunder: Steelers are classless, so I'm hoping that [01:53:26] Ronnie Jams: he backs that up. We haven't seen a lot out of Jared Verse yet, so this season, which is pretty disheartening, but I hope this is the game. This is the breakout game that we've been waiting for, and Jared Verse shows up in a big way. So, Kenny, who's your player to watch? [01:53:39] Kenny Thunder: My player to watch is. I'll tell you. It's Dylan Sampson. Good to finally see him involved this week. Want to see more of him, especially catching passes out of the backfield. Can really be a dynamic weapon. Probably saw limited snaps last week just due to the injury. Coming back. Back from injury, so hopefully they'll continue [01:53:59] Ronnie Jams: to work him in more and more bone. [01:54:02] Speaker E: I'm gonna go Mason. Graham, you touched on Mason Jar. You touched on him earlier. Yeah. Just getting back to getting sacks from the nose tackle position. I'm just hoping that D line is dominant this game and just harasses old Aaron Rodgers there. We had five sacks the first game. I think they're going to have to do something similar to have a chance to win. [01:54:22] Speaker A: He's old. [01:54:24] Ronnie Jams: He's just too old. [01:54:26] Kenny Thunder: Old. [01:54:29] Ronnie Jams: All right, so there you have it. That's the preview. Let's go ahead and get into King of the North. [01:54:40] Speaker A: All right. [01:54:40] Ronnie Jams: In case anyone doesn't know by now, this is our year long AFC north pickup competition. At the end of the season, whoever comes in last place gets punished. In the preseason three years ago, Kenny had a gross of eggs thrown at him by fans in the meeting lot before a game in the preseason two years ago, Kenny had his hair and beard shaved clean off. Last season, Kenny donned the pads for the first time in almost 20 years and got hit three times by our guy, Big John Hughes. [01:54:58] Kenny Thunder: Thank you. [01:54:59] Ronnie Jams: Still to come this season for losing last year, Kenny will be getting a Brazilian wax. And the loser of this season's punishment is still to be decided. We gave ourselves a deadline. We are way past that deadline. We will figure this out. We promise. We are failing you. We will do better. [01:55:15] Kenny Thunder: Somebody should call in the hot take hotline and tell us we failed. [01:55:17] Ronnie Jams: Yeah, but we'll. We'll pick a punishment. It's not looking good for me right now, but let's need here nor there. Now let's get into things. First things first. I want to remind everybody that I am the reigning defending King of the North. That's right, Kenny. You're a clown. Records through week seven, Bone and Kenny are at 14 and nine and I'm at 10 and 13. Got some making up to do. [01:55:40] Kenny Thunder: Is your record accurate? [01:55:42] Ronnie Jams: Yeah. All right, you shut your mouth. Now let's get into this week's games. First up, the Ravens travel to Buffalo to take on the Bill. [01:55:52] Speaker A: Bone. [01:55:53] Ronnie Jams: Who you got? [01:55:55] Speaker E: I got Buffalo. Home game for them. And the Ravens have been on a [01:55:59] Ronnie Jams: losing streak here and their defense isn't very good. Kenny. [01:56:04] Kenny Thunder: Sorry. Which game? [01:56:06] Ronnie Jams: Ravens. Going to Buffalo. [01:56:08] Kenny Thunder: Ravens. Buffalo. Baltimore desperately needs a response or their season may be over. But Buffalo's at home. [01:56:17] Ronnie Jams: Lamar Jackson plays this week too. I already said it. [01:56:19] Kenny Thunder: I think the Ravens make it competitive, but Bill's probably pulled out late. [01:56:24] Ronnie Jams: Pull out too late. I'm gonna go Buffalo as well. I know it doesn't do anything for me in the standings, but the Ravens defense is really bad. It's gonna get worse. And I know they say Lamar Jackson should be back this week, but who knows if he's gonna be at 100%. So I'm going Buffalo on this one. Next up, we got Cincinnati hosting the Titans. I'll go first here. Now, Kenny, you can go first. First, go ahead. [01:56:52] Kenny Thunder: Sorry. You tricked me. Titans at Bengals. Bengals just beat up on Baltimore real bad. 3513. Yeah, they definitely got momentum. Titans gave us everything we could handle this week, so I don't think it'll be a pushover, but Cincinnati wins this one. [01:57:12] Ronnie Jams: Yeah, I think we're all going to be in agreement here. I've got the Bengals as well. You know, it was a close game against us. Cincinnati seems to be playing pretty well this season, and their offense is a lot better than ours, so I think they put up a lot of points in this one. I got the Bengals bone. [01:57:30] Speaker E: Yep. Going bangles. [01:57:32] Ronnie Jams: I really wish I had some games to pick differently than you guys. That'd be nice. And then finally, the Browns head to Pittsburgh for another battle with the Steelers that will terminate. Determine who loses, leads the division. I'll go first in this. I think it's been said multiple times we've lost 23 in a row in Pittsburgh. As much as I would love to pick the Browns and say that we snap that streak, we keep winning games, I just think at some point, we've said it. Said this a number of times in this episode, too. You can't win them all. And we've been winning a lot of close games. I think this is going to be another close game, but I think that we lose this one. I'm gonna go. Browns lose to the Steelers with a score of 27 to 24. Steelers. [01:58:23] Kenny Thunder: The Browns have won them all. [01:58:26] Ronnie Jams: What? [01:58:27] Kenny Thunder: The Browns have won them all. You said you can't win them all. They won them all. [01:58:31] Ronnie Jams: They've lost two. Bone, who you got? [01:58:35] Speaker E: I am also picking the Spirit Steelers, unfortunately. I really want to pick the Browns, but. [01:58:43] Ronnie Jams: What's your score? [01:58:45] Speaker E: Yeah, there. It's a home game for the Steelers and they're. They're. They're still pretty good. I will go. Your score, you said, was literally what I thought in my head. [01:58:53] Speaker C: Too late. [01:58:53] Speaker E: But, yeah, I'll do. I'll do. Sorry, his bad bad podcast there. [01:59:02] Ronnie Jams: You do that. [01:59:02] Speaker E: I'll do 8, 18, 17. [01:59:07] Ronnie Jams: 18, 17. What a score. Kenny, who you got? [01:59:15] Kenny Thunder: Oh, this is a tough one. Browns already beat Pittsburgh earlier in the season. [01:59:19] Speaker A: Do it. [01:59:20] Ronnie Jams: We're going for the sweep. [01:59:21] Speaker C: Browns. [01:59:21] Ronnie Jams: Browns. Browns. Browns. Browns. Browns. [01:59:25] Speaker C: Browns. [01:59:26] Ronnie Jams: You're up like five games on me. You can afford to lose one. [01:59:29] Kenny Thunder: The Steelers are getting back from an international. [01:59:33] Speaker E: That's a good point. That is a good point. [01:59:34] Speaker A: Yeah. [01:59:34] Ronnie Jams: It's long travel. [01:59:35] Kenny Thunder: I think this is a physical game. I think it's a low scoring game. But the Browns have made every play at the end of the game when it matters. Let's go Cleveland. 2320. [01:59:50] Speaker E: Yes. [01:59:51] Ronnie Jams: Nice. That could be really bad for me. But you know, hey, fuck it. I like it. I like you picking the Browns. Um, I hope they win. I mean, this is like the first. This is probably one of the only times that I say that I, I hope I'm wrong and that the Browns win because it'd be awesome to just. I'll use the word that, that some other programs have used this week and say that we will handily be atop the division. [02:00:17] Kenny Thunder: Handy. [02:00:18] Ronnie Jams: Yeah. [02:00:18] Kenny Thunder: So the old fashioned. [02:00:20] Ronnie Jams: But that'll do it for us. Let me remind you to call the Burning Sportscast. Hot take, hot nowhere to call. Leave your hotel takes on the hot take, Hot letter. Remember, these are hot takes. We want hot takes. [02:00:28] Speaker C: We want hot takes. [02:01:04] Ronnie Jams: The Saints programming note. Next week's episode, Happy Bob will be on a Friday. I know you hate the Friday shows, but it'll be on a Friday, so [02:01:12] Kenny Thunder: I guess next week will be on a Friday. So not Thursday. [02:01:14] Ronnie Jams: We talked about this. [02:01:15] Kenny Thunder: Apparently we talked about this. [02:01:17] Ronnie Jams: Yeah. And then we'll do another brownsbackers interview. [02:01:20] Kenny Thunder: Of course. [02:02:12] Ronnie Jams: Kenny, what do you got? [02:02:13] Speaker A: Facts. [02:02:13] Kenny Thunder: I got facts. Facts for days. Last week the Pittsburgh Steelers were in France francais and I lost all my notes, so I didn't have any facts about. [02:02:24] Ronnie Jams: Oh, we got France. France facts. [02:02:26] Kenny Thunder: I've got France facts. Number one. [02:02:28] Ronnie Jams: I see London. I see France. [02:02:31] Kenny Thunder: The guillotine, or the guillotine, depending on whether you pronounce it, was used all [02:02:37] Ronnie Jams: the way up until recently in France. [02:02:38] Kenny Thunder: The French pronunciation or the Americanized one was used for executions up until 1962. 1977. [02:02:47] Ronnie Jams: Damn it, that's close. [02:02:48] Kenny Thunder: France's last execution by guillotine. Guillotine took place on 9-10-19. [02:02:52] Ronnie Jams: That's my birthday. [02:02:54] Kenny Thunder: 77. The same year that the first Star wars movie hit theaters. Hell yeah. The guillotine remained a legal method of execution in France until October 9, 1981, when capital punishment was officially abolished under President Francois Mitterand. [02:03:11] Ronnie Jams: See, I told you. [02:03:12] Kenny Thunder: Francois, I think we should maybe bring the guillotine back. Tennessee has had two botched executions this year. Guillotine. There's no way to botch that. [02:03:21] Ronnie Jams: If your head comes over, you won't live anymore. [02:03:24] Kenny Thunder: It'll be over for you. [02:03:26] Ronnie Jams: Do humans do like the chicken thing where they are alive for a few seconds? [02:03:29] Kenny Thunder: Oh, it's gruesome. That's why it was completely inhumane. [02:03:34] Ronnie Jams: Absolutely. [02:03:34] Kenny Thunder: But there's no doubt the job will be done. [02:03:37] Speaker E: Do you think Taquio Spikes could survive a guillotine? What's his first name? I think it's. [02:03:44] Kenny Thunder: It's Takeo. [02:03:45] Speaker E: Yeah. [02:03:45] Speaker A: Yeah. [02:03:46] Speaker E: His neck's huge. [02:03:49] Kenny Thunder: Wondering where you were going with that bone. [02:03:51] Speaker E: Have you seen. [02:03:52] Ronnie Jams: Seen his neck? [02:03:53] Kenny Thunder: It's big. Yeah, he's a big guy. Big, big neck. Get the biggest neck around saying, there's [02:03:59] Speaker E: no guarantee with that guy. [02:04:00] Kenny Thunder: He's got a crook in it. [02:04:02] Ronnie Jams: There's always a guarantee. [02:04:03] Kenny Thunder: So big he's got a bend. [02:04:06] Ronnie Jams: No, that's just bone number two. [02:04:09] Kenny Thunder: The French. The French are weird. France, that's true. Regulates what legally can be called a traditional baguette. [02:04:17] Ronnie Jams: A baguette? [02:04:19] Kenny Thunder: The traditional baguette, or baguette de tradition francai, is subject to rules about ingredients and production. Under the 1993 bread decree, it cannot contain additives or freezing agents and must be made out of only four components. Wheat flour, wheat, well, wheaton water, salt and yeast. Or a natural sourdough starter. It must be baked on site at the place of sale. Even bread has paperwork in France. Show me your papers. Baguette. [02:04:56] Ronnie Jams: Oh, baguette. It's actually one of my favorite reels. It's up there like all time. Is the one where they say, you know, when you've been to France, by the way, you say Wisconsin. [02:05:12] Kenny Thunder: Number three. Paris. [02:05:15] Ronnie Jams: Paris, yeah. [02:05:16] Kenny Thunder: Has an underground ostrom sanctuary containing the remains of millions, the catacombs of people. The catacombs of Paris were created in former limestone quarries with human remains transferred there beginning late 18th century as cemeteries became overcrowded. The bones of several million city of the regions lie beneath the city, arranged into walls and patterns. And that's really only a small portion of a vast underground network. So a lot of people are familiar with the catacombs. But the bonus fact, or the real fact of the day, is that in the catacombs, in the year 2004, French police discovered a fully equipped. [02:06:00] Ronnie Jams: 2004? [02:06:01] Kenny Thunder: Yes. [02:06:03] Ronnie Jams: Why'd you say it like that? What an idiot. [02:06:04] Kenny Thunder: French police discovered a fully equipped secret cinema hidden beneath the city of Paris in an underground cory network. It reportedly had a projection system, a screen seating, electricity, telephone lines, and even a bar and. And restaurant. A barking dog alarm was set up to warn the occupants if someone approached. When police returned days later with additional equipment after discovering the installation, the people responsible had vanished, leaving behind only a mysterious note that read, don't try to find us. [02:06:40] Speaker A: No. [02:06:41] Ronnie Jams: That's ominous. [02:06:42] Kenny Thunder: Years later, the group associated with the site, known as Le Mexican de la Perfor Racion, was made up of ordinary people with varied jobs, reportedly including nurses, builders, artists and filmmakers. Roughly translates to the Mexican Drilling Company or the Perforating Mexicans, whatever that means. Their philosophy, things. Their philosophy was to reclaim neglected urban spaces and turn them into places for independent art. So dozens of feet beneath one of the world's most heavily visited cities, a secret social space was thriving without authorities having a clue. [02:07:20] Ronnie Jams: Cops ruin everything, you know, just came down there, just ruin it all. Coming in gangbusters, literally. [02:07:27] Kenny Thunder: And then they just disappeared. They just packed it all up once they discovered that they were discovered. [02:07:30] Speaker C: Dang. [02:07:31] Ronnie Jams: Dang. [02:07:31] Kenny Thunder: Pretty wild. [02:07:32] Ronnie Jams: That is wild. Catacombs are wild. There's actually a lot of really cool facts if you just look up facts about catacombs. [02:07:37] Kenny Thunder: Oh yeah, there's a whole population of cataphiles that just go down and explore [02:07:41] Ronnie Jams: the catacombs because there's like the. The surface facts of like, just like the amount of bodies down there. Like all that stuff. But then like during, like the French Revolution, everything else, there's all these stories about how they used them to get all over the city and everything. [02:07:55] Kenny Thunder: Well, because it was a limestone quarry, so the. The network of tunnels is basically endless. [02:08:01] Ronnie Jams: Well, it's like they can't even draw a map anymore of like, like, because [02:08:04] Kenny Thunder: it's so vast expanse and it's very dangerous. Actually. A lot of people have disappeared down there, have died down there because, like, just like exploring mines here, like there's potential for collapse. There's no oxygen. [02:08:19] Ronnie Jams: A lot of risk. [02:08:19] Kenny Thunder: A lot of bones. Yeah, Bone. [02:08:23] Speaker E: Ah, catacombs. [02:08:25] Kenny Thunder: That's his home. That's where the bone lives. Lives in the catacombs. [02:08:30] Ronnie Jams: That's going to be the new name of your area over there. [02:08:32] Kenny Thunder: The Bone Home. [02:08:33] Speaker C: The bud. [02:08:33] Ronnie Jams: The catacombs. [02:08:34] Kenny Thunder: The Bone zone is the bone home. [02:08:36] Speaker E: Feel like home. [02:09:00] Kenny Thunder: I don't know why they thought that was a good idea. Let's just build walls out of bones. [02:09:03] Ronnie Jams: Why is that not a good idea? [02:09:05] Kenny Thunder: It's weird. That's real weird. [02:09:07] Ronnie Jams: That's fair. But I guess if it was weird, they said, is it a good idea? [02:09:09] Kenny Thunder: But I guess it's comes from. To us from a population of people that were cutting people's heads off all [02:09:14] Ronnie Jams: the way till 1977. Up until modern era, they needed somewhere to put all the heads. [02:09:19] Kenny Thunder: That's true. [02:09:20] Ronnie Jams: Yeah. [02:09:20] Kenny Thunder: Lots of skulls.
