Show Notes

The Cleveland Browns are 3-1 after a thrilling Thursday Night Football win over Pittsburgh, and a mildly competent Deshaun Watson has the city riding an absolute high. In this episode, Kenny Thunder, Ronnie Jams, and The Bone Man break down the win, praise Andre Szmyt's clutch 56-yard game-winning field goal, and investigate the mysterious disappearance of rookie Joe Royer.

The guys also chat with Saratoga Mike from the Saratoga Brownsbackers, who shares a legendary core memory of being left completely alone in the stadium nosebleeds at eight years old during a 1985 double-overtime playoff game.

Episode Highlights:

  • Browns Brief: Riffing on Mina Kimes' praise of the Browns' future foundation, reading between the lines of Mary Kay Cabot's press conference questions, and debating if Shedeur Sanders has sideline attitude problems.
  • ️Around the NFL & AB: Antonio Brown's unhinged social media "victory fits" (complete with a Robert Kraft bobblehead and CeraVe lotion) and a massive reality-check rant about Kevin Stefanski's success in Atlanta.
  • Gassed Up: Kenny fractures his own brain wondering why we cook at home to achieve "restaurant quality" food, while restaurants constantly advertise "home cooking."
  • Fired on Day One: A look at the Trailblazers firing an announcer for tweets he sent at 15 years old, contrasted against the massive second chances given to millionaires like Watson and Jed York.

All this and so much more and we break it all down for you right here on the Burning River Sportscast!

[00:00:00] Kenny Thunder: Tapping media. It's time time for the Burning River Sportscast. Your Cleveland Browns. Our prime time. After a thrilling victory on Thursday Night Football, Cleveland extended its win streak to three in a twist no one saw coming. DeSean Watson has been mildly competent. The entire team seems to be bought in. And most importantly, they are winning games. And not only are they winning games, they're getting quality wins. First, they stifled the Baker revenge tour. In three out of four games this year, the Panthers have scored more than 30 points. The Browns held them to 18. And finally, they beat a division rival a on national TV against a head coach and a quarterback with super bowl rings, with the jets on deck, 4 and 1 is a real possibility. Have the Browns finally done it? Is this the corner they've been waiting to turn? It does seem like we've been here before and watched it all fall apart. Can Todd Monkin and this group keep it together? We'll break it all down for you. Next on the Burning River Sportscast. [00:01:30] The Bone Man: Their brains haven't develop yet. It's like everybody knows that. [00:01:33] Speaker C: Yeah, I mumble. Deal with it. Don't you guys believe in karma? [00:01:37] Kenny Thunder: Holy Schmidt. [00:01:38] Ronnie Jams: You got to be Schmidt. [00:01:40] Kenny Thunder: You got to be Schmidt. [00:01:41] The Bone Man: What the Schmidt? [00:01:41] Kenny Thunder: What the Schmid Schmidt? [00:01:43] Ronnie Jams: Storm. [00:01:44] Kenny Thunder: Schmidt Storm. [00:01:45] The Bone Man: I'm going to Schmidt all over you. [00:01:47] Ronnie Jams: There's Schmidt everywhere. He's Schmidt in the car. I got a Schmidt on the wall. [00:01:53] Kenny Thunder: Bottle of Cerave lotion. [00:01:55] Ronnie Jams: Wait. [00:01:57] Kenny Thunder: An Advertisement For a $69 60 minute mass Robert Kraft bobblehead. [00:02:05] Speaker E: We've transcended winning and losing. It doesn't matter. It's almost like when we're really good, it's kind of not as fun, believe me. [00:02:14] Kenny Thunder: The taxman cometh. The rent will be due. [00:02:16] Ronnie Jams: Bones a top 10 crossfitter. [00:02:19] Kenny Thunder: Austin McNamara is in his second season as the jets punter. Cool name, lame job. [00:02:23] The Bone Man: I've read one book on Japanese running culture and that's about it. [00:02:26] Kenny Thunder: Parental advisory warning for those listening at home. [00:02:28] Ronnie Jams: Good lord. [00:02:29] Kenny Thunder: If you're easily offended, grossed out, or weirded out by obscene things, now's the time to turn it off. I was married to the widow next door. She's been married seven times before. Second verse, same as the first Bestiality. [00:02:46] Ronnie Jams: Oh, boy. I know you like that. [00:02:54] Kenny Thunder: Welcome in to the Burning River Sportscast, presented by the fine folks at Tappin Media. I'm Kenny Thunder. Across from me today. [00:03:14] The Bone Man: Bone yes. [00:03:16] Kenny Thunder: What's orange and sounds like a parrot [00:03:20] The Bone Man: Browns fan A carrot [00:03:24] Ronnie Jams: got him again. [00:03:25] Kenny Thunder: Back to red Hot. Often replicated, never duplicated. So let's go ahead and get started with the burger for News Story of the week. All right, tonight for the Burning River News story of the week. Today, tonight, whatever day you're listening is whenever you're listening to this. Kenny, what's the new story this week? [00:05:01] Kenny Thunder: So, yeah, just I guess Culture wars segment. So the Portland Trailblazers h and then on the same day fired Braden Bell as their play by play announcer after a series of inappropriate social media posts from when he was a teenager came to light. [00:05:22] Ronnie Jams: How old is he now? [00:05:23] The Bone Man: So [00:05:25] Kenny Thunder: the Trailblazers released a statement that basically said we have zero tolerance for racist, sexist or harmful comments. Social media posts made by our recently announced play by play broadcaster are in clear violation of team and league policies as well as our values and expectations. These posts were reportedly made in 2012 and 2013, around the time Bell was 15 years old. In a couple of these tweets, he said things like he wasn't racist, but Asian people piss him off. He also included shout outs to big girls and closet horse. Um, and then issued an apology on X after the fact, saying he's deeply sorry for the language he used on Twitter. They were written when I was, you know, 14 years ago, when I was 15. Have no reflection of who I am today. He does not take lightly any harm that it causes now. And he regrets that this is his first impression that he was making on certain people. So. But I guess the reason I thought this was newsworthy was one, it was news he was fired the same day he was hired. How do you get fired on your day off? Type of deal. But also, like, does this just feel like overreaction? Like, we. We keep running into this where people are getting in trouble or canceled because of something that they said when they were an adolescent. Something they said that was dumb, literally a decade and a half ago when they were a child. [00:06:51] Ronnie Jams: Yeah. I mean, this is honestly just ridiculous in my opinion. Don't get me wrong. [00:06:58] Speaker E: I'm not. [00:06:58] Ronnie Jams: I'm not condoning what he actually said. That's not the point here. The point is he was 15 when he said it. I think I can speak for most teenage boys. If you heard the things that all of us said when we were 15 years old, we'd probably be fired from our current jobs. It's just crazy, too, because he said it's 14 years ago when he was 15. So he's literally lived that whole life over again. [00:07:22] Kenny Thunder: Yeah. [00:07:22] Ronnie Jams: And he's almost 30 now. And this gets brought up, one, he was a child. Two, a lot more experience now. Probably a completely different human. I know. I mean, you guys can attest to this. I was a dick in high school. [00:07:36] Kenny Thunder: I think when you're 15, you're just immature. [00:07:38] Ronnie Jams: Yeah, I was a jerk, but I'm a pretty normal human now. [00:07:41] Kenny Thunder: You're doing dumb shit. [00:07:43] The Bone Man: You are. [00:07:43] Kenny Thunder: Impress your friends. And just to be silly and you're not thinking about, is this gonna follow me the rest of my life? Which I guess one is a cautionary tale for us, like raising kids, to make sure you are having that conversation. But I just don't think we should be penalizing for the rest of their life for something dumb that they said or did when they were a child. [00:08:03] Ronnie Jams: Right. [00:08:03] The Bone Man: I. I almost feel like there needs to be a law that. That can't be used against you to a certain extent. Like, I don't know how you. [00:08:10] Ronnie Jams: Especially because the way that social media is nowadays, like, that stuff doesn't go away even if you delete It. But somebody has saved it still lives [00:08:16] Kenny Thunder: in regions of the Internet somewhere. [00:08:18] Ronnie Jams: So. Yeah, I mean, I'm. I'm almost with you, Bone. Like, I'm, you know, that's not an excuse to just let everybody do whatever they want to do. [00:08:25] The Bone Man: But he was a child. [00:08:26] Ronnie Jams: He's a child, right. [00:08:28] Kenny Thunder: Well, it's like you would think for most 14 and 15 year olds, like, even if you commit a serious crime, in most cases they aren't trying you as an adult. You aren't held to the same legal standard at that age. In. In most cases, I mean, there's exceptions [00:08:41] The Bone Man: to every rule, but there's exceptions to 14 and 15 year olds. But overall, you go talk to one these days and you're just like, you are an idiot. You know, but they just don't. Their brains haven't developed yet. It's like, everybody knows that. Yeah. [00:08:56] Speaker C: Right. [00:08:56] The Bone Man: This whole conversation is so silly, but it's real. And it happened to this guy. [00:09:00] Kenny Thunder: Well, and the fact that, like, he had to issue an apology afterward, like, was, I guess. Was anybody that was impacted by, like, in one of the marginalized populations that he shouted out in a tweet, did they feel better afterward? Were they like, right, like, who wins? I accept the apology. I was offended because I'm Asian or whatever the case is. Like, I took offense to that. Like, I don't know. It's just a matter of like, do. Does anybody really care? [00:09:27] Ronnie Jams: It's just like social justice for nobody's sake. It's for nobody's. Like, like, nobody probably even cared, but somebody brought it to light. [00:09:35] Kenny Thunder: Even if you were offended, did the apology, like, mean anything to you? Does that make it better? Are you a Braden Bell fan now? Because he did apologize. Like, the same thing happened with Arch Manning recently. Right. Because of the. The afterward. The aftermath of the. Steve Sarkeesian after Texas beat ohi when Holly Rode tried to interview Sarkeesian and he just kind of walked away from her. And then you had the. An outlet of a bunch of AI related content that was silly. Videos that people made in their basements and posted to the Internet and got millions of views. And. And he was literally asked about those videos and he kind of mentioned laughingly that he had saw one, but then had to issue a formal apology to Holly Rowe for commenting on. [00:10:19] The Bone Man: Because he thought it was funny. Yeah. [00:10:21] Kenny Thunder: Which was. [00:10:22] Ronnie Jams: Which is. [00:10:22] Kenny Thunder: Which is what it was intended to be. Right? It was so. But it. No one's saying people like Holly Rose should be punched in the face, but, like, it was an AI generated Video I saw a bunch of those after desean beat the Steelers this week of him kicking Aaron Rodgers in the nuts and stuff. Like it's clearly computer generated content and it's made just to be mildly entertaining if not offensive in some cases. [00:10:44] Ronnie Jams: Yeah, well, and that's the point is like to me, he's probably not even laughing at the content itself. He's probably laughing like, I can't believe you guys are asking me a question about this AI video right now. [00:10:53] The Bone Man: Right? [00:10:54] Ronnie Jams: Like, that's the, that's the questions you guys have. [00:10:56] Kenny Thunder: For me, it's just funny too, in a world where like we have, we have popularized comedians whose whole shtick is like shock comedy. Like you're Anthony Jesel Nicks of the world to talk about like killing babies or like, you know, I don't know, just murdering people. And it's like it becomes a joke because it's so offensive and out there. And that's really what the Internet is kind of full of, right? Like that's the, the memes that get posted and the videos that get posted. It's all shock comedy. It's like, how in the world did somebody even create this? But inside there is some sentiment that's like, it's mildly funny, right? Like you get an internal chuckle when you see something like that because it's like it's so obscene. [00:11:43] Ronnie Jams: That's the point. [00:11:44] Kenny Thunder: Like, that's the point. Make it the whole reason it's made. And we live in a world now where you have to apologize for having [00:11:50] Ronnie Jams: in a normal reaction that's expected to something that's made. [00:11:55] Kenny Thunder: Right? And to the point now where, you know, it's costing people careers because of some of these dumb things too, which I just, it just, it just looked like a huge overreaction to me. I think you can address it as a team and go, you know, we don't support this. But we also acknowledge, I think the [00:12:12] Ronnie Jams: bigger thing would have been for the trailblazers to come out and be like, look, he was a kid when he made these comments. We know him, we interviewed him, we, we personally, you know, background checked everything about him and we think he's a great person now and he's grown from this like that. To me, that's a bigger statement than just saying, ah, this guy's fired. [00:12:29] Kenny Thunder: Especially in the world that we in. That is second chances for everyone. DeSean Watson has got a free pass because he can throw a football, but this is a poor 29 year old kid that did something dumb when he was 14 years old has to pay for it for the rest of his life. [00:12:46] Ronnie Jams: I didn't realize how relevant it was to the Cleveland Browns until you just threw that out. [00:12:50] Kenny Thunder: I mean, seriously. [00:12:52] Ronnie Jams: I mean, it's not just him. There's other players on the Browns that have had issues and they get second [00:12:58] Kenny Thunder: chances, and it just. It's almost like the index is how much of a celebrity are you? Right? Like, what is your. What is your contribution to entertainment or sports? And if it's high enough, you can do pretty much whatever you want. And we'll forgive you. But heaven forbid this kid makes a dumb Tweet when he's 15 years old. [00:13:15] Ronnie Jams: I'm going to dig up something you said on Facebook when you were 15, and then we're going to fire you from the Burning River Sportscast. [00:13:21] Kenny Thunder: There's probably dumb things out there. [00:13:22] Ronnie Jams: I'm excited about it. I'll probably get you fired from your real job, too. [00:13:25] Kenny Thunder: Thank you. Appreciate that. [00:13:26] Ronnie Jams: Yeah, you know, good friend. I heard it's a thing now. So. [00:13:29] Kenny Thunder: Yeah, this is what we do. [00:13:31] Speaker C: But, yeah. [00:13:31] Ronnie Jams: So I think we're all in agreement. It's pretty ridiculous, but it is what it is. Dude's fired. So with that. [00:13:38] Kenny Thunder: Trails. [00:13:39] The Bone Man: Yeah. [00:13:40] Ronnie Jams: What's his name? Happy trails. [00:13:42] The Bone Man: Wants to come work for you. [00:13:44] Ronnie Jams: Yeah, yeah. [00:13:45] Kenny Thunder: The Vernier sports guest could hire him. We can't pay him anything, but we can hire him. [00:13:48] Ronnie Jams: Yeah, you could be a volunteer. Next up here. Bernie Kozar autograph jersey giveaway. Yes, for the fourth year in a row, we are giving away some autograph Browns memorabilia. This one's a big one. Bernie Kozar autographed jersey. There are plenty of ways to enter. Head over to our social media, get signed up, get yourself some bonus entries. Sign up now. [00:14:08] Kenny Thunder: It's not Bernie Kozar's jersey. A Bernie Kozar jersey that Bernie Kozar did sign. [00:14:14] Ronnie Jams: Yeah, but not one he wore. [00:14:15] Kenny Thunder: But not one he wore. I mean, we. I guess we don't know that for certain. [00:14:19] Ronnie Jams: He could have worn it. Possibly could have worn it. [00:14:22] Kenny Thunder: We should market that as a possibly Warren Bernie Kozar jersey. [00:14:25] Ronnie Jams: We can't verify or just. Yeah, we can't. [00:14:28] Kenny Thunder: It's not been authenticated in any way, but it is possible he could have [00:14:32] Ronnie Jams: put it on once. Another thing, before we get to the Browns, let me remind everybody to call the Burger Sportscast. Leave your hot takes on the hot take hotline. Kenny, do we have any hot takes? [00:14:43] Kenny Thunder: It's kind of a wild week on the hot take hotline, but we do have a couple. Let's see what we got. [00:14:48] Ronnie Jams: I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing. [00:14:50] Speaker C: We'll see. Hey, guys, it's Menachem from the Browns backers of North Jersey. I know. Last week I got roasted because when I talked to AI, whatever, like, didn't understand what I'm saying. Yeah, I mumble. Deal with it. [00:15:06] The Bone Man: What? [00:15:07] Speaker C: All right. The game last night. I'm calling Friday, by the way. The game last night. Amazing, Crazy, wonderful. We packed the bar where we watched the game. It was wonderful. Bobby was happy Bob for part of the time, angry Bobby for part of the time, nervous Bobby for part of the time, anxious Bobby, maybe drunk Bobby. There's. It's. He's like. It's almost like. Like the Barbies. Like, instead of the Barbies, it's the Bobbies. Right? So, like, there's like Malibu Bobby and, And, you know, he has the. The Bobby Dream House and all that stuff. The Bobby Dreamhouse has a Browns W in it all the time. We beat Pittsburgh. Wonderful. Victory weekend is upon us. And next Sunday, October 11, we are going to the jets game. The Browns backers of North Jersey will be right, representing amongst many, many other Browns fans. If you're there, we're going to be tailgating. Come see us, come hang out with us, say hi, let's get a cheer, let's have a beer, let's do something else that rhymes with that. And. And let's go. Here we go, Brownies. Here we go. [00:16:35] Kenny Thunder: All right. That, of course, was our friend Menachem. [00:16:38] Ronnie Jams: I love when manakum calls. There's never any hot takes. There's just. There's just talking. He's. It's cathartic. [00:16:42] Kenny Thunder: That's what, that's what the hot take hotline exists for. [00:16:45] Ronnie Jams: Yeah. Give us rants, you give us raves, you give us hot takes. Doesn't matter. [00:16:48] Kenny Thunder: Couple call outs in that hot take one. It was a good weekend. [00:16:52] Ronnie Jams: Yeah. [00:16:53] Kenny Thunder: Having the Thursday night. Having a Thursday night win. [00:16:55] Ronnie Jams: Yeah. [00:16:56] Kenny Thunder: Did make my entire weekend. Like, even Friday felt like a day off. Like, I was just in a better mood. Just jovial in nature. Jovial like cherub, you know, Just very happy. Not having to have the anxiety on. Like you get the Sunday scaries, like before you go to work again on Monday. To not have to have the anxiety of a Browns game also going on on Sunday just like improved my mental health to an extent that I can't even describe. [00:17:29] Ronnie Jams: Everything was. I mean, that's. That's one thing that I think is you can't sell short is how Much the Browns affect all of Cleveland's mental health. Mental health. [00:17:40] The Bone Man: Yeah. [00:17:41] Ronnie Jams: Anybody who. Who roots for the Cleveland Browns is just typically miserable from the time football season starts until the time it ends. But when they're winning like this, like, I. I'm just like, carefree. I'm like, this is great. [00:17:53] Kenny Thunder: We kind of just match the weather. Just like gray and just not that nice most of the time. [00:17:58] Ronnie Jams: People don't realize that how cloudy. Northeast Ohio is overcast always. It actually has more cloudy days than, like, Seattle, so just keep that in mind. [00:18:07] Kenny Thunder: Also love the Malibu Bobby call out. [00:18:10] Ronnie Jams: Oh, yeah. It gives me ideas for merchandise we ever had. [00:18:14] Kenny Thunder: Yeah, Action figures. We should have a Malibu Bobby or an anxious Bobby. [00:18:19] Ronnie Jams: We'll just have a whole line of bobbies. [00:18:20] Kenny Thunder: I was actually a pretty big fan of Barbies when I was little. One year for Christmas, my big gift that I really wanted was a Barbie Dream motorhome. [00:18:31] Ronnie Jams: Did you get it? [00:18:31] Kenny Thunder: The Barbie dream rv? And I did. And I'm pretty sure mother still has it somewhere in the attic. It was, you know, big white motorhome with like a pink bottom. [00:18:41] Ronnie Jams: Break that some bitch out so we could play with it. [00:18:43] Kenny Thunder: And I do. I would like to see it again. I need to go find it. [00:18:46] The Bone Man: We used to play with those houses with, like, wrestlers. We did have a lot of the wrestler action figures. [00:18:51] Kenny Thunder: Yeah, we would just have wrestling matches. [00:18:53] The Bone Man: So it was like Triple H and Barbie J hanging out. [00:18:57] Kenny Thunder: Yeah, it was. Those are good times. I had a lot of Barbies growing up. Used to take all their clothes off. [00:19:02] Ronnie Jams: That sounds. This is sounding more like what I expected with Barbies, so. All right. We got any other calls? Thank you. [00:19:13] Speaker C: All right. Good morning, guys. This is Matt from Nashville on Monday morning, leaving the Clee and driving back to Nashville. So I took a few extra days to ride some greenway trails and see some old friends and absolutely enjoy a place I've not been climbing since I was 12 years old. And it's great to be back. And I have never gone to a Browns game. I have never gone to the munilod and holy lot of words I shouldn't say on the radio. And what a game. I had such a great. Such a great time. And, you know, it started off with a penalty right at the beginning, and then there were more, and then there were more. And I was like, oh, this is not. The Browns are kind of brown. But the vibe was right from the very beginning. And I love the mu lock. Love to see the good natured ribbing. I couldn't believe any Steelers fans were walking around there like, gosh, you got a house from Coone to do that. So great experience. What else can I say? It was a nail biter. At one point I thought, you know, I, I, I don't think I can handle this. And then everybody's screaming, nephew Steelers. And I'm thinking, you know, I want to say everybody, don't you guys believe in karma? Like, like helping me. The Bible says that do not rejoice when your enemy stumbles. And, and that if you, if you love them, it will be like keeping hot coals on their heads. So I just, I wanted, I want to be like Josh. So it was, it was super fantastic. There was this moment when I, I walked in and you know, it's getting a little dark outside. Well, it was dark outside and just kind of walking in the stadium and getting that one little peak of like, like all the lights and all the red seats or orange seats. [00:21:36] Ronnie Jams: I'm familiar. [00:21:37] Speaker C: I was like, oh my gosh, I'll post a picture. It was like, it was like a little 12 year old kid inside. It was like, this is the most amazing thing I've ever seen. It reminded me of that old testy commercial with me and Joe Green or whoever, you know, the kid like walking up and getting a Pepsi or guy. But anyway, go Browns. It was awesome. Keep doing what you guys do and you know, maybe we'd win a couple more. So back to work, back to Nashville, back to. [00:22:13] Ronnie Jams: I cut him off, cut him off, cut him off. [00:22:15] Kenny Thunder: Hit the time on it. [00:22:16] Ronnie Jams: Matt was just vibing, bro. He's just like, we won. This is great. [00:22:21] Kenny Thunder: I love his just genuine, just approach to life like the, like the, he just seems like the happiest dude. And I'm. After the, the Browns weekend that we had, it was easy to be happy. But just the genuine like laughter coming out all of his calls, it just makes me so happy. [00:22:39] Ronnie Jams: Yeah. [00:22:40] Kenny Thunder: But glad that he had a chance to come up and, and take in the game. [00:22:43] Ronnie Jams: The muni lot is wild. [00:22:45] Kenny Thunder: It is wild. [00:22:46] Ronnie Jams: We actually, so I, I, so you know, I went the week before. [00:22:49] The Bone Man: Right. [00:22:50] Ronnie Jams: We went and the muni lot was packed to, we decided to go across the highway to like the airport. Yeah. For our, for our tailgating. And I, I told everybody there I was like, it's happening and it, we're, we're too old now. Like, we all just want to be low key in the, in the bur front parking lot for the, for tailgating because there's too much going on over there. I will Say this. Much more family friendly. [00:23:16] Speaker E: Yeah. [00:23:16] Kenny Thunder: The muni lot's not. [00:23:17] Ronnie Jams: Muni lot's awesome. [00:23:18] Kenny Thunder: I mean, and it's. It's important to take, like, your young kids there at least once. [00:23:23] Ronnie Jams: Yeah. [00:23:24] Kenny Thunder: To just see the debauchery, but it's not really a place. You should take kids all the time. [00:23:29] Ronnie Jams: Yeah. [00:23:30] Kenny Thunder: There's a lot of weird stuff that happens. [00:23:31] Ronnie Jams: My family didn't go regardless, but that was my takeaway. Just sitting there, I was like, oh, [00:23:36] Kenny Thunder: I mean, we did some pretty raw in the muni lot. [00:23:39] Ronnie Jams: Yeah, there was some. We've had some times. [00:23:42] Speaker E: Yeah. [00:23:43] Speaker C: So. [00:23:43] Kenny Thunder: But yeah, great. Great call again. I'd like to. I need to have a beer with this mat because I feel like. [00:23:48] Speaker C: Like he. [00:23:49] Kenny Thunder: I feel like he would be good for my mental health. [00:23:51] Ronnie Jams: Yeah. Monuments be like, what the man? This guy calls in, they love him. I call in, they just all over me every week. [00:23:59] Kenny Thunder: We love Monum. [00:24:00] Ronnie Jams: All right, you got any other. Any other hot takes here? [00:24:03] Kenny Thunder: I do see what we got. [00:24:05] Speaker C: All right. This isn't my hot take. I mean, it is, but I'd rather hear your guys hot take on this spot. Think about the Sean Watson in year number four look a lot like Deshaun Watson in quarter number four. So that's pretty meta, but love to hear you guys riff on that for a second. All right, y' all have a good day. See ya. Bye. [00:24:25] The Bone Man: Bye. [00:24:26] Ronnie Jams: So if I'm. If I'm catching this right, he's saying DeSean Watson in year four looks like DeSean Watson in quarter four. And I'm. I'm guessing he's just referring to the three. The three in a row comebacks in the fourth quarter for all three of these wins. [00:24:41] Kenny Thunder: It's very meta. It hurts my brain. [00:24:48] Ronnie Jams: Yeah, I mean, I. He's definitely. I guess I'll just say I agree he's playing well in the fourth quarter this year. He's playing better in year four. But I don't know necessarily that they mirror each other because he's playing pretty darn well in the fourth quarter, and he's just playing at average. I mean, it overall. [00:25:07] Speaker C: And. [00:25:07] Ronnie Jams: And don't get me wrong, this is the best football desean's played for the Cleveland rounds, we've been over this a number of times. This last game was his by far, his best game yet. But overall, you look at his numbers this season, and, yeah, you extrapolate him long term over the course of the entire season, and his numbers look. Look really good. But, I mean, we're paying the dude $230 million guaranteed. He's not putting up Josh Allen numbers. He's putting up, like, decent, decent quarterback numbers. [00:25:32] Kenny Thunder: How many teams would DeSean Watson start for in the NFL today besides the Browns? [00:25:38] Ronnie Jams: I don't know that there's any. I mean, there might be one or two more. [00:25:42] Kenny Thunder: I mean, I, I think he's definitely played better than we anticipated. Like, that's clear. But I don't know that, that he's hit any sort of, like, super high bar. [00:25:57] Speaker C: Right. [00:25:57] Kenny Thunder: I think, think to me, he's played like a guy who's been in the NFL for a while and has played a lot of football. And to me, he almost looks like a backup quarterback in the preseason when they come in and they can run the offense, right. It's not anything spectacular, but it's not. It's not anything that's unwatchable. So I don't know. Like, I think right now he's doing enough to win games. I don't know how he's going to do when they really start playing good teams, like, if they were in a actual competitive match with, like, a good football team. [00:26:31] Speaker E: Right. [00:26:31] Ronnie Jams: And we'll, I mean, we'll get a glimpse of that next week when they play the Ravens. Right. So. But like, even this week, we got another, another cream puff coming up with the Jets. Like, they're not good, and I just think they're pretty bad. [00:26:43] Kenny Thunder: And I just don't know how much of it is, like, the supporting cast is that much better, you know, and so look again, like, they're winning games right now. So I don't have a lot of complaints. I just, to me, I still see a lot of the same things that we have seen, which is there are moments where he looks wildly inaccurate and wildly inept. [00:27:04] Ronnie Jams: But, I mean, we don't want to [00:27:05] Kenny Thunder: talk about this less of those this year than he has in recent years. [00:27:08] Ronnie Jams: Nobody wants to talk about this because they haven't actually turned into turnovers, but there's been at least six, seven balls that have hit defenders hands like, like [00:27:18] Kenny Thunder: both hands and ball security in general when he's running the ball. Like, he's not been protective over it. Now, again, to your point, it hasn't turned into actual turnovers. They've either fallen on it or been able to get away with it for a penalty or for one reason or another. Like, but he has put the ball in harm's way a lot. And I think the difference is, like, the ball hasn't bounced that way. Right. Like, we've lucked out on A couple of those. So if you say, hey, he had four or five more interceptions on this season, we'd all be feeling probably a little bit differently about the performance so far, but they haven't turned into actual turnovers. So it's been, you know, fine and it's been good enough to win games. [00:27:54] Ronnie Jams: Yeah, we'll get into this a little bit later. Cause I have some questions on the validity of the Browns being a quote, unquote, good team. So, yeah, we'll, we'll, we'll get into that a little bit later. But I, I just. I don't know. I mean, he's. I don't know. I don't know. We'll get into it. [00:28:11] Kenny Thunder: He's very meta. [00:28:12] Ronnie Jams: He's. I don't think Kenny understands. [00:28:16] Speaker C: You got any more AK Cabot? Denzel Boston, watching the press conference right now on the job site, listening to it and watching it, and ask him what he and DeShawn do to work on their bond. Do they watch TV together? Maybe we do their nails. [00:28:42] Speaker E: Just. [00:28:43] Speaker C: We do our nails together, I think, you know, we make homemade ice cream together. His favorite flavor is strawberry. [00:28:53] The Bone Man: I like chocolate. [00:28:53] Speaker C: Sometimes we make like strawberry chocolate while we're doing our nails. And that. That is really nice. The key to the relationship. Mary Kay. Mary Kay. I heard you guys talking about it before. I listen to all these press conferences, and now I'm listening. I'm thinking, yeah, how do you work on your bond? Good. That's good. [00:29:17] Ronnie Jams: Just vibing, bro. [00:29:18] Kenny Thunder: The Mary Kay comments prompted another phone call from Matt in Nashville. Yeah, I mean, that's the kind of hard hitting journalism that we've come to [00:29:27] Ronnie Jams: expect from mkc, doesn't miss a beat. [00:29:30] Kenny Thunder: Hall of Famer. [00:29:31] Ronnie Jams: Hall of Famer gets into the nitty gritty, hard, hard hitting journalism. [00:29:38] Kenny Thunder: Making ice cream together, doing their nails, watching rom coms. I'm sure that's what Denzel, Boston and deshawn are doing. [00:29:44] Ronnie Jams: Listen, don't. Not getting your nails done. How good is a pedicure? [00:29:47] The Bone Man: How can I human for the Browns. [00:29:50] Kenny Thunder: And that. [00:29:51] The Bone Man: That by Mary Kay. [00:29:52] Kenny Thunder: We were, we were making fun. Bone just landed the nail on the head, which is exactly what that was because she's very much now backtracking and trying to carry water for the Browns, who are trying to rehabilitate the image here. Because all of a sudden desean being here longer term now is starting to become a possibility and at least a conversation as to what are we going to do here. Because as long as this guy keeps winning, winning games, the. The idea that we can just make him a post, you know, June 1 cut or whatever in, in March of next year is starting to fade away because we've all just resigned ourselves to the fact that like Deshaun Watson has no place in the future of this franchise. And all of a sudden he's forcing the issue. And so now they have to have these kind of puff piece, image rehabilitation questions coming at him. They need sound bites. They need good press and publicity around this. They need guys like Al Michaels to continue to walk away from those, those conversations about the bad things that happened and say, well, everybody just knows the history of desean Watson. We don't need to relitigate it now. [00:30:58] Ronnie Jams: And meanwhile, trailblazers guys getting fired, but [00:31:04] Kenny Thunder: only he could throw a football. [00:31:06] Ronnie Jams: Yeah, no, I agree with all that. And, and here's the thing I I to. I guess the one credit you can give Mary Kay is if you want to know what's going to happen with the Browns, just read between the lines with her stuff because she's clearly a mouthpiece for the team. Not, not, not because she's actually uncovering anything or doing any real work. Just because whatever they tell her to say, she's going to say it because they, they just telegraph their moves ahead of time. [00:31:32] Kenny Thunder: Good to be connected. [00:31:33] Ronnie Jams: Yeah, it's of kind good to be connected. But no, back to what I was saying. Pedicures. They slap. [00:31:38] Kenny Thunder: Pedicures do slap. And I'm actually due for one. I'm anytime you let me know. I need my feet rubbed real bad. [00:31:48] Ronnie Jams: Pedicures. [00:31:48] Kenny Thunder: I also need Matt from Nashville's Laugh just on a loop track in my room to like go to bed at night. [00:31:53] Ronnie Jams: I just like that he's vibing so hard that just mid sentence he can't, he can't help himself. [00:31:59] The Bone Man: I just crack my, myself up. [00:32:00] Ronnie Jams: Yeah, I love it. Yeah. More calls from Matt. [00:32:03] Kenny Thunder: More calls from that Matt. But that was, that, that was everything for the hot take hotline this week. So good calls again. We need more activity. Tell your friends. Get everybody call in. Remember where you at. [00:32:15] Ronnie Jams: We want hot takes. We want hot takes. We want hot takes. [00:32:18] Kenny Thunder: All the hot takes. [00:32:19] Ronnie Jams: 3302-2780-8133-0227-8081-3302-2278-0813-7288-0813-3227-8081 call now. Operation not standing by. Speaking of hot takes, it's time for Dig it with the Macho Fan. [00:32:43] Kenny Thunder: Oh, yeah. Another prime time showing. [00:32:47] Ronnie Jams: That's great. [00:32:47] Kenny Thunder: Showed everybody what we are capable of. And it's not even the end. It's only the beginning. Captain, I can't wait to go all the way over to New York and show them what we're all about as well. That's right. We're gonna go meet the team in Marine New Orleans. Brown is coming to be barking and biting all day long. And I can't wait, because then we can tell everybody why the Browns or the Browns or the New Browns. And you, you, New York, better cool your jets, because we. We are going to keep it going. And keep it going. [00:33:28] Speaker E: Yeah. [00:33:29] Kenny Thunder: Oh, yeah. Let's go, friends. Let's go. [00:33:41] Ronnie Jams: Macho. [00:33:42] Kenny Thunder: Macho fan. I wanna be the macho fan. So macho. [00:33:50] Ronnie Jams: So macho. [00:33:51] Kenny Thunder: So much testosterone. So much hair, so many long fingernails. I don't. [00:33:56] Ronnie Jams: Are you excited? You okay over there? [00:33:59] The Bone Man: Macho fans got some real stuff to be excited about this year. [00:34:02] Kenny Thunder: That's true. [00:34:04] The Bone Man: I'm happy for it. [00:34:05] Kenny Thunder: It's genuine this year. He's not just faking it until he makes it. [00:34:08] Ronnie Jams: He's not the hype man for the Cleveland Browns this year. He's just. He's just adding. [00:34:11] Kenny Thunder: He's actually hyped. [00:34:12] Ronnie Jams: Yeah. Yeah. So love it. One more thing before the Browns brief. It's time for the Burning River Sportscast Dog of the Week. [00:34:21] Kenny Thunder: Doesn't matter, man. You gotta play tough people in the National Football League. You gotta be ready. And we gotta be the dogs that we are every time we step on there on Sunday and be ready to [00:34:30] Speaker C: attack and don't stop until we're in that locker room. All right. [00:34:37] Ronnie Jams: We leave it up to our listeners and followers to determine the Burning River Sportscast Dog of the Week. Each week on our live shows, on Sunday night, this time Thursday night, we each. Actually, we didn't go until Saturday night because of a family emergency. True. We. Yeah, we nominate a dog. We each nominate a Dog of the Week candidate. From there, we turn it over to all of you on our socials to vote and make the final decision. This week's nominees, Kenny Quinn. [00:35:01] Kenny Thunder: Sean Judkins. [00:35:02] Ronnie Jams: Bone. [00:35:03] The Bone Man: Denzel Ward. [00:35:04] Ronnie Jams: And I nominated Andre Schmidt. After the fan vote that was conducted on our socials. This week's Burning River Sports cast Dog of the Week is. Andre Schmidt. [00:35:16] Kenny Thunder: Holy Schmidt. [00:35:17] Ronnie Jams: You got to be Schmitting me. [00:35:18] Kenny Thunder: Got to be Schmidt. [00:35:19] Ronnie Jams: What the. [00:35:19] The Bone Man: Schmidt. [00:35:20] Kenny Thunder: What the Schmid Schmidt. [00:35:22] Speaker C: Storm. [00:35:22] Kenny Thunder: Schmidt. Storm. [00:35:23] The Bone Man: I'm going to Schmidt all over you. [00:35:25] Ronnie Jams: There's Schmidt everywhere. He's Schmidt in the car. [00:35:29] The Bone Man: I got a Schmidt in my boot. [00:35:30] Ronnie Jams: On the walls. [00:35:31] Kenny Thunder: Got a Schmidt in my boot. [00:35:33] Ronnie Jams: Didn't see that one coming. No, he three or three extra points, two or two field goals and he hit the 56 yard game winning field goal to close this thing out. [00:35:42] Kenny Thunder: So Andre Schmid is money, which the [00:35:44] Ronnie Jams: 56 yarder would have been good for like 70. [00:35:46] Kenny Thunder: Yeah, 70 might be, you know, it's not a stretch estimate. [00:35:51] The Bone Man: It was a nice kick. [00:35:52] Kenny Thunder: It was a good kick. Shut your mouth more than anything else. It was a clutch kick. [00:35:56] Ronnie Jams: Yeah. [00:35:57] Kenny Thunder: And. And to be honest, like, that's one of the things that I have been saying about Schmidt for a long time is like he's made a lot of kicks. A lot of those have been in kind of meaningless games. And I've been asking for like I want to see can this kid do it in high leverage situations. This was one of them. Them and absolutely nailed it. So, you know, hopefully, look, this kid can keep it going and hopefully he's a kicker here for Cleveland for a long time and can go down in the annals of Brown's history with our good friend Phil Dawson. We don't know Phil Dawson. He's not actually our friend. We just, we like Phil Dawson, but we haven't really had that guy. We had a, you know, brief snippet of, of fandom for Hopkins, but didn't last all that long. So. [00:36:41] Speaker C: No, no. [00:36:42] Kenny Thunder: But yeah, he turned bad quick. He turned into a pumpkin. [00:36:47] Ronnie Jams: Yeah. No. So Schmidt is closing in on some records, by the way, you mentioned Phil Dawson. Phil Dawson holds the top and the second longest, the longest and the second longest streak for consecutive field goals with the Cleveland Browns. He has 29 and 27 are the streaks. Andre Schmidt's at 22. [00:37:06] Kenny Thunder: So I hate when we start talking about these types of streaks. Cause that just means a miss is coming and it probably will come in an if it does time. [00:37:12] Ronnie Jams: I blame Bonnie Own, but. [00:37:15] Kenny Thunder: Except, you know, frankly, the kids do for a miss. So like, hopefully it comes early in a game when it's not. [00:37:20] Ronnie Jams: Well, I mean there's only two matter. Andre Schmidt's at third with 22. So it's only happened two other times that there's been a longer streak than this. So just. [00:37:26] Kenny Thunder: Yeah, he almost needs to just miss one just to get it out of his. When it doesn't matter because you do. It's almost like bowling a 300. Right. Like you get that seventh, eighth strike and then you start thinking about it like if you get to 25 or even 30 now, that's what's going through your head before every kick is like the probabilities are against me. [00:37:47] Ronnie Jams: I just hope when he has that, that miss after not missing for so long, he doesn't literally turn into Dustin a pumpkin. Yeah, yeah. Cause that's kind of what happened, right? He missed one bad one and then he missed two bad ones. [00:37:57] Kenny Thunder: Oh, yeah. Then it starts to truly become a mental thing. [00:38:00] Ronnie Jams: Yeah. So we don't want that. But no. Andre Schmidt has been fantastic basically since they brought him in. He had a couple issues I think early on the first few games. And then after that he's been solid. So well done. [00:38:12] Kenny Thunder: Andre Schmidt. [00:38:14] Ronnie Jams: Andre Schmidt. [00:38:15] Kenny Thunder: The Schmidt memes. Andre Schmidt. Andre Schmidt. Andre Schmidt. The Schmidt memes were pretty lit after the game, flying around like the Schmidt. [00:38:28] Ronnie Jams: I'm Smith. [00:38:29] Kenny Thunder: You've literally. You've literally changed. [00:38:30] Ronnie Jams: You a new girl fan? [00:38:32] Kenny Thunder: I. I've seen new girl. I would call myself a fan. Zoe Deschanel fan. [00:38:36] Ronnie Jams: Thank. Yeah, yeah, for sure. [00:38:38] Kenny Thunder: Yeah. But yeah, this. The memes were lit. Andre Schmidt. Andre Schmidt's the man. [00:38:46] Ronnie Jams: He's the man. He's the Burning river sportscast dog of the week. [00:38:48] Kenny Thunder: He is the dog of the week. [00:38:51] Ronnie Jams: Next up here we got the Bone Zone. [00:38:52] Kenny Thunder: The Bone Zone. Drop, drop, drop, stop. [00:39:03] Ronnie Jams: All right. We don't have anything for the Bone Zone. I just wanted to play the Sounder, [00:39:07] Kenny Thunder: but his bone was on the live show. [00:39:09] Ronnie Jams: We had him on our live show. [00:39:10] Kenny Thunder: Yeah, they joined us. [00:39:11] The Bone Man: I was awaken everything. [00:39:12] Kenny Thunder: He was awake and everything. [00:39:14] Ronnie Jams: The key is we got to get him on a weekend day. Like a Friday or Saturday. [00:39:17] Kenny Thunder: That's the only. Is the weekend. [00:39:18] Ronnie Jams: No, he's going back to work the next day, though. Oh, like, like an actual weekend? Like a week at night. [00:39:23] Kenny Thunder: Okay. Is Saturday the actual only weekend? [00:39:26] Ronnie Jams: No, Friday's a weekend night. [00:39:28] Kenny Thunder: But Friday is a weekday. [00:39:29] Ronnie Jams: But Friday's going into Saturday when you don't have to work. So it's a weekend night, but it's a weekday technically. So I would say I'd argue that the weekend starts at 5pm on Saturday or on Friday. [00:39:40] Kenny Thunder: I think Bernie Sanders just introduced a bill to make the four day work week to eliminate hell. [00:39:45] Ronnie Jams: Yes, I'm a Bernie Sanders, which I [00:39:48] Kenny Thunder: am a big supporter. [00:39:49] The Bone Man: I may jump on that bandwagon. [00:39:50] Kenny Thunder: Let's get rid of this daylight savings time, go to the four day work [00:39:53] Ronnie Jams: Henry Ford in the five day work week. [00:39:55] Kenny Thunder: You know, if AI is coming for all of our jobs, we might as well do the universe universal basic income thing. [00:39:59] Ronnie Jams: Yeah, let's go down to a three day work week. [00:40:02] The Bone Man: Let's keep putting free money into our kids IRAs. [00:40:04] Kenny Thunder: I like it. [00:40:05] Ronnie Jams: We could stop working, I don't know. But yeah, let's go ahead and get into the Browns brief. All right, so first up here, espn, Mina Kimes highlighted the Browns strong foundation for the future this week. She said, I quote, next year this is an extremely desirable situation for a young QB to walk into. Thoughts on this, fellas? [00:40:38] Kenny Thunder: It's a lie. [00:40:39] Ronnie Jams: It's a lie. [00:40:40] Kenny Thunder: It's a flat out lie. [00:40:41] Ronnie Jams: How's it a lie? [00:40:42] Kenny Thunder: The foundation is strong, but the quarterback next year is going to be Deshaun Watson. So there is no young quarterback coming here. [00:40:49] Ronnie Jams: Are you fully on that train? [00:40:50] Kenny Thunder: If The Browns win 10 games this year, you're not drafting your quarterback of the future in this year's draft. [00:40:55] Ronnie Jams: Can the Browns actually. We'll get into this in just a second, but can the Browns actually win 10 games? [00:40:59] Kenny Thunder: They're a third of the way there. [00:41:03] The Bone Man: If, if they bring in. If they get rid of Shador deshawn and then they bring in case Keenum and then draft a rookie, it's an ideal situation. [00:41:13] Kenny Thunder: Is this a joke? [00:41:14] The Bone Man: No, I'm just, I'm just saying that will make it ideal. [00:41:17] Ronnie Jams: Yeah. [00:41:18] The Bone Man: If you come in with all this, I don't know, just Shador controversy and you bring in a rookie or, I don't know, desean's still here. [00:41:24] Kenny Thunder: I feel like, I mean, if you are going to draft another quarterback, I do think you have to move on from everybody in this room. I don't think you can hold on to Dylan Gabriel. I don't think you can hold on to Shador Sanders because it's. It, it. It does start to become then too much of a distraction. I guess there's a case to be made that if you do ship to Sean out because of the history in the contract that maybe Shador could be a bridge quarterback. I think you'd have to make that the plan. Day one, say, look, we're going to draft a rookie, but we're going to let Shador play this out as long as the wheels stay on. And then if the rookie needs to play, he can play. But the plan is to develop this kid and you just go into camp and everything with Shador as your day one starter. But I think that's less and less likely the longer desean plays. I think if something changes in the wheels fall off of DeSean and Shador plays the last six games of the season, that's an easier case to make. But if desean plays all year, I think it's a really hard case to make, especially if they do win eight to 10 games, they're vying for the AFC north crown or vying for a playoff spot or make the playoffs. Heaven forbid that you're gonna go, yeah, we're just gonna start over next year because the foundation is strong. Let's bring in some kid who's never won a game in the NFL when we have a guy on the roster who we've already paid a boatload of money to, who is now winning games here. Now we're going to move on. And if you do win eight, even if you, let's say you win seven, Right. Like maybe we're overshooting it. So you're in that seven to eight win category, you're still not picking maybe top 10. Maybe you're, you're in that 10 to 15 range. And my guess is you're not drafting your quarterback of the future who is maybe the third or fourth best quarterback on the board. [00:43:12] Ronnie Jams: Tie to the Chiefs and Patrick Mahomes. They got him right around 12. [00:43:16] Kenny Thunder: I, I, I guess. But they were in a very different situation at the time with Alex Smith, who was returning as a pretty entren wrenched starter. [00:43:23] Ronnie Jams: Fair, fair. [00:43:26] Kenny Thunder: Listen, I just call on the tape. [00:43:28] Ronnie Jams: I'm gonna come back to this in just a second. I'm jumping around a little bit here from my notes, but speaking of Shador Sanders, did you guys catch that a lot of people were giving him this week for his body language on the sidelines? They said he was disinterested, he was away from the team. He wasn't celebrating when they scored. Did you guys make anything of that or did like, I watched the whole thing and I was just kind of like, like, I mean, he was paying attention. It's not like he was like completely out of the game. He was up on the sideline. He was right there. And they say he was away from everybody. He was kind of over by the coaching staff. [00:43:59] Speaker E: Yeah. [00:43:59] Ronnie Jams: Just paying attention to the game. [00:44:01] Kenny Thunder: And I didn't, I didn't read into it a whole lot. I, I saw if you watch the rest of the clip, there's somebody else standing in his same proximity that also didn't immediately elate and jump into the air. There were a couple of guys kind of also standing there. I don't think he was standoffish and walking away. He started walking towards like celebration and the, the jubilation that was occurring. Yeah, I don't know that Shador truthfully seems to be a pretty measured guy. Yeah, I think he's, he's a little goofy like, when you do get him off the cuff, like in a. In an interview, in the locker room and stuff, but I don't. I think he's a. And I think this probably goes for most NFL guys. Like, you're generally pretty locked in during the game. So I don't know that it was anything that was intentionally, like, standoffish. I do think that there is probably an element to Shador's mindset right now that is, like, this isn't necessarily ideal. Right. Like, he's also a young kid. [00:45:04] Ronnie Jams: I'm sure it's not lost on him. [00:45:05] Kenny Thunder: The more field the. [00:45:07] Ronnie Jams: Sean Watson plays well enough to keep winning, the less likely it is for him to see the field. [00:45:13] Kenny Thunder: Exactly. And I think you're watching this in prime time on Thursday night in front of a national audience, thinking, this would have been a great opportunity. Opportunity for me. And so I don't think that that's lost on him. Clearly, he probably wants to play, but. But I think anybody who's ever been a part of a team, you know, you. There's a. There's. There's a selfless component to it, too, which is, like, you do want your team to do well. I think all of Brown's fandom has had some mixed emotions about. Like we've talked about, how do we feel about the fact that we're winning games with this guy that we've all. All come to just hate and write off anyway just because of a million reasons. But. So I do think that there is probably an element to his mindset that is, you know, mildly disappointed that he's not on the field, especially when you consider the just complete polar opposite of where everyone kind of thought we would be at this point in the season, which is after week two, if DeSean didn't play well, we're probably moving on. So I think in Shador's mind, he probably thought he would be playing by now. [00:46:14] Speaker C: Now. [00:46:15] Kenny Thunder: So I don't know. [00:46:16] Speaker E: I don't. [00:46:16] Kenny Thunder: I don't. I guess my point is, like, I don't think it would be unfair of Shador to have some mixed emotions there, but I don't also think that he was emoting anything negative or trying to be standoffish. I think he was following the play and probably taking it all in. It's. He also is a young kid on national TV in this huge game that's, you know, being seen across the country. Like, it's. It's just a. I guess I think people are reading into it too much and making more of it than it was. [00:46:46] Ronnie Jams: Yeah. No, I agree. And I just bring that up because then I wanted to get to this what if back to the Mina Kimes thing in the situation and whatever else. This is just a what if scenario for you guys. What if we all have it wrong up to this point and what if everyone wins? And what do I mean by that? What if Watson continues to play well, the Browns make the playoffs, and then they just let him go and they roll with Sanders next year and he's more mature, he's more. He's ready to take over the offense. He's had a year under his bel to study everything. I mean, what if that's the play? Because there are a lot of [00:47:21] Speaker C: reports [00:47:22] Ronnie Jams: coming out of Berea now that they have no interest in trading Shador Sanders and instead they're very happy with his development under Todd Monken. [00:47:31] Kenny Thunder: Yeah, there. I mean, there was obviously a lot of conversations around Shador maybe being trade bait now that DeShawn is playing well. And the Browns have, you know, tried to quell that, I think, to their credit. Credit to not let those rumors run wild. I do think it's an interesting scenario, certainly something that's possible. I think when anytime you draft a rookie quarterback, that's probably everybody's ideal scenario. Right? Like, of course you would like to draft a rookie and have him come in on day one and be Tom Brady. That's not the reality in most cases. Most rookies that end up playing don't play well. And if they're on bad teams and they play for a year or two, they find their way out of the league pretty soon because they get exposed for all of their negative traits. So when you just mentioned, like, Patrick Mahomes, he had the chance to kind of sit and watch and develop. We played a guy this week in Aaron Rodgers who had to sit and watch and develop, and both of those guys, you know, went on to be great. Right now in both those guys. [00:48:34] Ronnie Jams: You mentioned. You mentioned Tom Brady. Everybody wants to be Tom Brady day one. Well, Tom Brady wasn't even Tom Brady day one. [00:48:42] Kenny Thunder: Yeah. I mean, you had the chance to learn under a guy like Drew Bledsoe for a while, the guy that the Rams drafted this year, Ty Simpson, you know, same thing. Right. Like, that's probably best case in terms of developing a young quarterback is to have him sit and actually watch some good football and then come in when the time is right. On a good team that has talent. [00:49:03] Ronnie Jams: Ty Simpson, they're even protecting further because they're like, we're making you the QB3 on purpose so that you can just sit there and literally study the game the entire time. Time. And Stetson Bennett is, is QB2 so that if somebody does have to play, he can play and Ty Simpson can continue to learn on the sideline. [00:49:20] Kenny Thunder: I mean I think we all know how hard it is to play quarterback in the NFL because we've seen so many guys come in and fail at it. Even guys that had some pedigree or [00:49:30] Ronnie Jams: the vast majority of them thought were [00:49:31] Kenny Thunder: going to be really good. Your Brady Quinn of the world that had high expectations. Arms were too big, too big to throw football. Yes. Myoplex. [00:49:41] Ronnie Jams: Now all I do is work out my arms and the biggest complaint about me is I have no arm strength. [00:49:47] Kenny Thunder: Yeah, that one never made any sense. But. But yeah, I think like holding the clipboard for a year or longer is is best case scenario for development of young quarterback. So I don't think it's beyond the realm of possibility. I think what makes it more interesting is like what do you do with desean if he truly does win double digit games this year? [00:50:07] Speaker C: Year. [00:50:07] Ronnie Jams: Yeah. Yep. I agree. Just, just a what if scenario. Bony you have any thoughts on, on that scenario and if that could play out [00:50:16] The Bone Man: Shador becoming QB1 next year. [00:50:19] Ronnie Jams: Yeah, even. Even with Desean playing well this year and then they just let him go and Shador takes over the offense next [00:50:24] The Bone Man: year, I would honestly be all for that. I like Shador. I still kind of want to see what he's. What he's got. And from what we saw last year, he has something. Whether he can download the whole offense and run it efficiently, I don't know but I would be for that. I think that would be great. [00:50:42] Ronnie Jams: Well, and especially if you do well [00:50:44] The Bone Man: this and then to use that, use that draft pick on another position group, you know, whatever to improve the team. [00:50:51] Kenny Thunder: I do think what's. What's really interesting to think about is, you know, everybody wants that guy. Right. They want their quarterback that's gonna, they're gonna draft and he's gonna play here for 10, 12 years and be the focal point of your. One, I think that's rare. I think it's, it's rare to actually find that guy. And two, I think if you do like have a guy that you do want to be that he's going to come in as a rookie and be bad. [00:51:19] The Bone Man: Yeah. [00:51:19] Kenny Thunder: Like so I have to think that if Shador Sanders has a, you know what seven or eight starts under his belt, a year of holding the clipboard in talent, developing around him on day one, game one, week one next year, regardless of who you draft, he's going to be. Doris Sanders is the better quarterback next year in week one. So. And then maybe you have the same scenario where, hey, you have the quarterback of the future on the roster, but best case scenario is he holds a clipboard for a year. [00:51:48] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:51:49] Kenny Thunder: The other thing I find really interesting right now about this whole quarterback conversation is there seems to be less and less consensus around college football about who the best quarterback is. And we've heard a lot and we heard this last year too. [00:52:04] Ronnie Jams: And I'm wondering if that's where the reports are coming from is they're like, we're not confident with, we're staying away from that. [00:52:10] Kenny Thunder: I mean, it's anybody's guess who's going to be, you know, looked at or regarded as the best quarterback in the draft next year. And I think that makes it really hard. If there was, if Arch Manning clearly came out and took that mantle and you were like, if he was undeniably good and everybody's going, he has to be number one overall. It makes it a lot easier to, to mortgage your future and pick up draft or give up draft picks to go get that guy. But if there's seven or different guys in the mix that we're all going, all of these guys are, are good and even really good, but we're not sure who's the best, it muddies the water and makes that decision really hard. [00:52:47] Ronnie Jams: Yeah, yeah. I mean, I, I agree with you. And, and it honestly at this point right now, you roll with any of these quarterbacks that are the quote unquote, top college quarterbacks going into next year. And I'm nervous, like I don't feel confident in any of them. [00:53:04] Kenny Thunder: There's just nobody. And it's not that I think that they're bad. I think there's a good crop. Just don't know is there one at that point? [00:53:11] Ronnie Jams: It's a crapshoot if you have eight guys that are all right about the same level. It's like, yeah, it's like you said [00:53:16] Kenny Thunder: Patrick Mahomes will drafted 11th or 12th or whatever. Right. Like, he wasn't even the first quarterback taken in that third or fourth and then he ended up being the best one. But it's, it's just so hard to pick quarterbacks. And I think regardless of who you pick, he's not going to be better than a guy that's been in the NFL for two years. It's the same reason that DeShawn got the starting job. Right. Like he's better than Shador right now because he's played a lot more football ball than Shador. So. And I think that my final thought on this whole thing is I think more and more the, the realistic probability is that either DeShawn is here next year or Shador is maybe that bridge quarterback or planned to be the bridge quarterback because Todd Monken is, if proving to be anything, it's conservative. [00:54:00] Ronnie Jams: Yeah. [00:54:00] Kenny Thunder: Because he's not looking to take big swings that are going to jeopardize his job and his career and his future. He's going with the safe, safe play was to start desean Watson this year because he's the veteran guy. And I think if you get into that same situation next year, the smart play again is let the rookie hold a clipboard and have somebody else be your week one starter until that guy is ready. [00:54:25] Ronnie Jams: Yeah. Let's move on here. The, the Browns we mentioned, and it does tie into this same discussion we're having because we said this is the scenario. If DeSean Watson plays well, we keep winning games. What do we do next year? Right. Here's where I'll caution. I know we've, we've talked about this a little bit on our show already a few times over the last couple weeks is. I know we're three and one. I know everyone's excited. I, it's fun. It's been great. We've mentioned how DeSean Watson isn't really putting up gaudy numbers. They're really kind of average numbers. So just be cautionary on that side of things. But I just want to point out to everybody, the Browns are the only team in NFL history to have fewer touchdowns, fewer field goals, fewer rushing yards, fewer net passing yards, more turnovers, and more penalties than their opponents through four games and still have a winning record. All of those things that I just said are complete recipes for disaster. Like you don't win games in the NFL. You at least can't sustain winning games on that recipe. [00:55:28] Kenny Thunder: Well, what's wild is all the things that you just mentioned are what we're used to seeing from the Browns. The only thing that's an anomaly is [00:55:34] Ronnie Jams: the record, the win, loss. Yeah. [00:55:37] Kenny Thunder: Because all of which, to be fair, [00:55:38] Ronnie Jams: I agree with, I said it after the game. I agree with Todd Monkin. The only stat that truly matters is wins and losses. But at some point, these things start to show up. If you keep doing things this way, it's. You're not going to be able to just sustain it over the course of it. [00:55:54] Kenny Thunder: That's what we keep saying about desean, Right. If you keep throwing the ball to the other team, at some point, they're not going to drop it every time. So I agree with you. Right. I think, like, again, vibes are good. Everybody's excited, everybody's happy. The games have been exciting. Like, it's been fun football to watch. So at least there is entertainment value there this year, which there isn't always for Browns games, but. But I don't know. That makes them a good team. And. And these types of things are not insignificant when you think about what makes a good football team. The penalties have consistently been a problem all year long. That's the one thing that has not been cleaned up in any regard. And when you look at just the performance from a production standpoint, those are concerns like they're not scoring a ton of points, do have vulnerabilities kind of across the board. That running game still isn't very good. So there's enough here that like it. It really could turn on a dime pretty quickly and get ugly quickly. You know, the. The test is, can Todd Monkin keep this group together, Right. Like, when the chips are down and they need that drive at the end of the game, can Deshaun Watson continue to deliver that? Because we haven't seen him do that for a long time. Time. And then all of a sudden that's happening. So. [00:57:07] Ronnie Jams: Yeah. [00:57:08] Kenny Thunder: Can that continue to happen? Possibly. Can it all turn around and go horribly wrong? Probably, yeah. [00:57:15] Ronnie Jams: But now to bring you back to the good vibes. I know that was kind of a downer, but the Browns have now won 10 straight home Thursday night football games dating back to 2008. So we just can't lose on Thursday Night Football. We're playing in Cleveland. [00:57:29] Kenny Thunder: I mean, unfortunately, not all of our games can be on Thursday night. [00:57:32] Ronnie Jams: If they could, I'd feel a lot better. Yeah. Plus we have long, good weekends, so. [00:57:38] Kenny Thunder: Yeah, I did like that. That was good. [00:57:41] Ronnie Jams: That was good. And then Mason Graham suffered a sprained MCL this past week, which is actually good news because originally they were fearing that he had torn something in his knee. Came back negative for any tears, any structural damage, Just a sprained mcl. They said his recovery time is, quote, a few weeks, so he's considered. He's officially listed as week to week, but they said he'll at least miss probably the next two games or so. [00:58:05] Kenny Thunder: You hate to see it. You hate to see an injury anytime, [00:58:08] Ronnie Jams: but it's a hot start he had, [00:58:09] Kenny Thunder: especially with a Guy that started so well out of the game. [00:58:12] Ronnie Jams: Unfortunately, we're no longer on Mason. Mason Graham sack record. [00:58:16] Kenny Thunder: We'll bring it back. We'll bring it back. [00:58:18] Ronnie Jams: Hopefully he can get a couple in a game more times this season. And then we're back. [00:58:22] Kenny Thunder: Look, here's the thing. Best case scenario, he does come back when he's healthy and can still get to a number that looks. Looks like 10 or more before the [00:58:29] Speaker C: end of the year. [00:58:30] Ronnie Jams: Over 10. That's phenomenal. You're a defensive tackle, man. [00:58:32] Kenny Thunder: Yeah. I mean, if he comes up with double digit sacks this year, I mean, going back to Mina Kimes, like, the future is bright, the foundation is strong. You got some real players out there and Mason Graham's one of them. [00:58:42] Ronnie Jams: Yeah. And then finally in the Browns brief, anyone ever figure out what's going on with Joe Royer? Still never heard of him. [00:58:48] Kenny Thunder: Still never heard of him. [00:58:50] Speaker C: Bones. [00:58:50] The Bone Man: Never heard of. [00:58:51] Ronnie Jams: He's Ohio State tight end. But he's. He's been absent since the first day of training camp due to personal reasons. I mean, that can't be good, right? [00:58:59] Kenny Thunder: I mean, look, there's. There. Let's start with. There has been no official reporting or none whatsoever. [00:59:06] Ronnie Jams: Like, they won't even talk about it every time. I know Monkin said, like, I'm not gonna discuss that. [00:59:11] Kenny Thunder: And the way that they've dismissed it is almost more suspicious. [00:59:15] Ronnie Jams: Yeah. [00:59:16] Kenny Thunder: Because the, the Browns are like, the [00:59:18] Ronnie Jams: way it reads to me is they're like, that's his story to tell, not mine. [00:59:21] Kenny Thunder: The Browns are kind of terrible at this kind of stuff. Like in, in, in the past, they've kind of telegraphed a lot of these things that should be kept under wraps and someone always leaks the story. So I mean, I've dug pretty deep into the bowels and resources recesses of the Internet. There is some interesting reading out on the dark web. [00:59:44] Ronnie Jams: Is that where you got it from? [00:59:45] Kenny Thunder: Not the dark web, but everything we're [00:59:48] Ronnie Jams: about to say is alleged. [00:59:49] Kenny Thunder: Alleged complet. Completely unsubstantiated. [00:59:53] Ronnie Jams: But you're going on the dark web. [00:59:55] Kenny Thunder: But there are stories and, and at least people talking again with no idea where this idea, these ideas come from. So we're not trying to like spread the rumor mill. It's just purely trying to find any breadcrumb of evidence as to like, why this guy isn't on the field. It's very unusual. [01:00:10] Ronnie Jams: It doesn't make any sense. [01:00:11] Kenny Thunder: There's been reports, again, unsubstantiated. Not real journalists, just Reddit boards of people who Claim to know or know him. One, two possible scenarios. One is there does seem to be some documentary evidence of him having mental health struggles after the passing of his mom in, I think, 2022, and that that could be playing a part in this. Some kind of anxiety, mental health issue. The other is there was a story, again, alleged, unsubstantiated, that the. When he started dating his. His girlfriend, I think he was 18 or older, and she was a teenager. [01:00:54] Ronnie Jams: She was 16, not like a young teenager. [01:00:56] Kenny Thunder: And so there was some talk about it at some point that apparently freaked him out and caused some kind of mental distress as well. Again, that's. That's from the. The deep recesses of the Internet, from people that, you know, don't have any credentials or anything. There's no official story on this. We're just trying to find any explanation for what is here because it's incredibly unusually odd. [01:01:20] Ronnie Jams: If somebody has some information out there, call and leave a message on the hot take hotline. We want to know. [01:01:26] Kenny Thunder: I'd love to know the real story. We clearly don't know the real story, but that's. Those are the only breadcrumbs that I was able to find at all. [01:01:33] Ronnie Jams: We're not elaborating just because those are, like you said, unsubstantiated claims. [01:01:36] Kenny Thunder: That's just complete rumor mill. [01:01:38] Ronnie Jams: No idea if any of that's true. But I mean, I will say this. The. The mental health. Potential mental health issues actually seems very plausible just with the way the Browns have handled it. [01:01:51] Speaker E: Yeah. [01:01:53] Ronnie Jams: And mental health issues are real. I'm not here to say, like, that's something he, you know, whatever, like dismiss that. He's. Those are real things. I mean, we've had athletes go through Cleveland that are huge advocates for that and have talked at length about it. Kevin Love. [01:02:06] Kenny Thunder: Sure. [01:02:06] Ronnie Jams: Kevin Low is. Is kind of like the face of. Of advocacy for mental health in the NBA. [01:02:13] Kenny Thunder: So it's just also really weir because if it was something you got anxiety [01:02:18] Ronnie Jams: that cripples you, but that's a whole different story. [01:02:19] Kenny Thunder: If it was something like legal in nature, oftentimes there would have been some leak at this point, not necessarily by the Browns, but, like, just through the legal system. If there was a report, a police report, something that was filed, like something that was public record, that was maybe disciplinary in nature, like, those things tend to come out. [01:02:39] Ronnie Jams: Yeah. Somebody finds out if. [01:02:41] Kenny Thunder: If none of those things, things exist, like, we're all just left guessing. It's. It's just odd because it's just odd. Because he's a rookie. Right. Like, we just talked about Shador's angst to get on the field. You would think this guy would be wanting to get out there and play. And. And there's just. And. And the silence from the Browns has been deafening more than anything. [01:03:00] Ronnie Jams: Yeah. [01:03:00] The Bone Man: I. I want to add one thing. Sure. Just for the listener who's like me, who had no idea who this guy was, he was a 5th round pick for the Cleveland Browns this past. This past draft. [01:03:10] Ronnie Jams: Yep. [01:03:10] The Bone Man: He signed a four year, $4.8 million deal with the team and he went [01:03:14] Ronnie Jams: to Cincinnati for a fifth rounder. [01:03:16] The Bone Man: He was at Ohio State and he played for Cincinnati, so I never seen him play fair. [01:03:22] Ronnie Jams: Fair. [01:03:23] Kenny Thunder: We have talked about him on the show at least once before. [01:03:25] The Bone Man: Yeah. [01:03:25] Kenny Thunder: Bone wasn't here for that, apparently. [01:03:27] Ronnie Jams: Yeah. Apparently he wasn't. This is the first time he's heard of Joe Royer. [01:03:29] Speaker C: Bone. [01:03:30] Ronnie Jams: The first time he did fact check, he was like, I would have heard about it. So I. [01:03:36] The Bone Man: No, I. Not that, but I just. Like, I did. I mean, I guess we drafted him. I don't know. But we've never talked about him. Or at least the Browns haven't. So it's like he hasn't really ever come up. [01:03:44] Ronnie Jams: $4.8 million is good for. [01:03:46] The Bone Man: That's what I was thinking. Yeah. [01:03:49] Kenny Thunder: Again, it's just. It's just odd, right? A draft pick, one that's signed to the team. I mean, if there was something really nefarious going on, they just would have cut it. They just would have not signed it. [01:03:57] Ronnie Jams: Right, Right. Well, again, the fact that they're holding on to him leads me to believe, like, mental health is a legitimate thing. They're like, they still get. Help him get, get, get. [01:04:06] Kenny Thunder: There's something there. Like they're gonna play him at some point. [01:04:09] Ronnie Jams: Yeah. [01:04:10] Speaker C: But. [01:04:10] Ronnie Jams: Yeah, that's it for the Browns. Brief. Let's get into the division round. All right, so starting off here, Cincinnati beat the Jacksonville Jaguars. Wait, no. Cincinnati lost to the Jacksonville Jaguars 2217. We were all wrong there. [01:04:32] Kenny Thunder: Feels bad. [01:04:33] Ronnie Jams: Yeah, feels bad. I really thought that Cincinnati was going to bounce back. Now I have no idea how to pick Cincinnati going forward. [01:04:39] Kenny Thunder: Jacksonville does seem to be a good football team. [01:04:43] Ronnie Jams: I think that's the biggest takeaways. They're pretty good. [01:04:45] Kenny Thunder: Better than maybe we thought. [01:04:46] Ronnie Jams: Yeah. Baltimore beat the Titans 24 to 18. That one was a lot closer than I thought it would be. But Lamar Jackson did sprain his ankle pretty bad in this one, so, yeah, we were all right, though. And then finally Obviously, the Cleveland Browns beat the Steelers on Thursday Night Football. 27, 24. Unfortunately, I was wrong there. Both of you were right. So I'm another game behind. Nobody picked the correct score. [01:05:09] Kenny Thunder: Running away. [01:05:10] Ronnie Jams: Something like that. For the AFC north standings are as follows. The Cleveland Browns are on top of the AFC North. [01:05:17] The Bone Man: Oh, yeah. [01:05:18] Ronnie Jams: At three and one. Baltimore's tied with three and one. [01:05:20] Kenny Thunder: Bye. [01:05:20] The Bone Man: Bye. [01:05:21] Ronnie Jams: We're on top. [01:05:22] Kenny Thunder: We're on top. [01:05:23] Ronnie Jams: Pittsburgh and Cincinnati are both at 2 and 2. [01:05:27] Kenny Thunder: Remains a competitive division. [01:05:28] Ronnie Jams: Yep, yep. [01:05:29] Kenny Thunder: I mean, even with all the. I mean, with the Lamar injury, with maybe Cincinnati being. [01:05:34] Ronnie Jams: I like the Lamar injury because said he could miss a couple weeks and then the Browns play the Ravens next week [01:05:40] Kenny Thunder: and Pittsburgh. I mean, as bad as we think Pittsburgh is, they won two games. [01:05:44] Ronnie Jams: Yeah, true. So current king of the north standings, Bone and Kenny Thunder are Both tied at 8 and 6, and I'm behind them at 6 and 8. [01:05:53] Kenny Thunder: So you're going to be eating my best all year. [01:05:55] The Bone Man: Oh, that's the punishment. [01:05:58] Ronnie Jams: No, no, absolutely not. [01:06:02] Speaker C: I've. [01:06:02] Ronnie Jams: I don't think I've ever been under.500 this far into the season. [01:06:06] Kenny Thunder: It's going to get worse. [01:06:07] Ronnie Jams: No, it's not. But now let's take a quick trip around the NFL. All right, starting off the trip around the NFL Jet York accepts the NFL's decision to find him $500,000 and suspend him for the first six games of the season for his role in [01:06:39] Kenny Thunder: prostitution. [01:06:40] Ronnie Jams: Prostitution sting. Yeah. I didn't know how to word that, but he had self suspended himself already, so he was he self suspended. Isn't that funny? Like, you're like gm, so you're like, I make the decision. I got to discipline myself. But he suspended himself for the first three games already, so that counts as time served. So he's got three more games to go. [01:07:00] Kenny Thunder: He also. [01:07:01] The Bone Man: Is he full owner, part owner? [01:07:03] Kenny Thunder: Like, I think he's a full owner. [01:07:04] Speaker C: Okay. [01:07:04] Ronnie Jams: Oh, owner. My bad. I said gm, but owner, he's at [01:07:07] Kenny Thunder: least a majority owner. He also had to issue one of these masqueraded apologies, basically saying he respects the NFL's decision and he takes full responsibility for everything. [01:07:20] Ronnie Jams: Sorry I let my family down. [01:07:22] Kenny Thunder: Yes. [01:07:22] Speaker C: Yeah. [01:07:23] Kenny Thunder: All those things. Which again, I don't know what good. [01:07:26] Ronnie Jams: I feel like I've heard this before [01:07:27] Kenny Thunder: anyone, but everybody has to apologize for everything. [01:07:29] The Bone Man: Now the NFL is enforcing him to sell. [01:07:32] Ronnie Jams: No. [01:07:34] Kenny Thunder: Well, you know, guys like Robert Kraft hold a lot of power decision making of the NFL. [01:07:39] Ronnie Jams: And Robert Craft's been through worse. [01:07:40] Kenny Thunder: He's been. Been through worse. [01:07:41] The Bone Man: So Comments made when I was a teenager soliciting a prostitute across the country. [01:07:47] Kenny Thunder: That's weird. [01:07:47] Ronnie Jams: When you start weighing. [01:07:48] Kenny Thunder: That's the second. That's the second half of the index. It's not just about, are you a big celebrity? Can you act, sing or dance or throw a football? It's also, how much money do you have? And Robert Kraft and Jed York have way more so much money than Braden Bell. [01:08:05] Ronnie Jams: I think the bottom line is we don't need to let your social media posts from when you were 15 come out. [01:08:11] Kenny Thunder: Maybe Braden Bale can get a job working for Jed York. Ah, there's a guy that's got a questionable past. He would hire a guy. [01:08:18] The Bone Man: He's probably. Four second chances. [01:08:20] Ronnie Jams: Yeah. Next up here, Chiefs wide receiver Taekwondo Thornton will miss 12 to 6, 12 to 16 weeks with a dislocated ankle. Anybody see this? [01:08:30] Kenny Thunder: Adrenaline is a hell of a drug. [01:08:32] Ronnie Jams: Dude literally dislocated. His ankle is just completely sideways. And then he went to get up to celebrate and he tried to stand on. He was like, that's not right. [01:08:39] Kenny Thunder: He did kind of stand on it for a minute. [01:08:41] Ronnie Jams: He stood on his nub and he looked down and was like, ah. And then he immediately laid down. One of his linemen came over to, like, pick him up and celebrate with them, and he, like, literally pointed to his ankle. I was like, no, man, look at my ankle. And the lineman looked down, he covered his face and, like, ran away from me. [01:08:59] Kenny Thunder: Oh, gosh. [01:09:00] Ronnie Jams: Yeah. [01:09:01] Kenny Thunder: Yeah. [01:09:02] Ronnie Jams: So, like, it was. It was gnarly. [01:09:04] Speaker E: Yeah. [01:09:05] Kenny Thunder: I mean, just the fact that it happened and. And literally when you're watching the. I mean, the replay, you could see it happen. So. But the fact that it happened and then he had no awareness that it did to the point where he tried to stand it. Like, I feel like if I was. It had a dislodged bone, I would know immediately and be like, oh, God. [01:09:24] Ronnie Jams: But she was just like, adrenaline. All those things. [01:09:26] Kenny Thunder: All those things just played a part of him. He's trying to stand up and walk it off. [01:09:30] Ronnie Jams: You know what's wild? [01:09:31] Kenny Thunder: It's one of those where you feel like, I rolled my ankle a little bit. Let me walk this thing off and rub some dirt on it. And he was like, nope, can't move. [01:09:36] Ronnie Jams: After the initial. Like, after that. You know what my first thought was? Where was the hip drop tackle flag on that one? Because that was like, Texas book. [01:09:47] Kenny Thunder: That was exactly what they're trying. [01:09:48] Ronnie Jams: That's what they talk about. That was the. That was the example. Like, that's That's a hip drop tackle and it dislocated someone's ankle and they were like, ah, we're, that's okay. [01:09:57] Kenny Thunder: Those are the freaky ones though that happened during. I mean just the freak accidents that like, man, you just don't see coming. [01:10:02] Ronnie Jams: No, no, no, no. Next up here, the Ravens acquired two time Pro bowl center Cam Jurgens from the Eagles this week. They sent a 2027 fifth round pick, a 2028 second round round pick to the Eagles in exchange for jurgens and a 20277 rounder. So pretty good offensive line, offensive lineman coming to Baltimore to play in the AFC North. So I don't, I don't like that. [01:10:27] Kenny Thunder: I don't like that. [01:10:28] Ronnie Jams: Nope, ain't like it. I do you think they saw Mason Graham and Mike Hall Jr doing big things on the interior line in Cleveland? They're like, we, we need to bulk up. [01:10:36] Kenny Thunder: They didn't see Mason Graham because he probably helps. [01:10:38] Ronnie Jams: He played for a minute and then he didn't play anymore. [01:10:42] Kenny Thunder: But yeah, Ravens got problems over there. [01:10:45] Ronnie Jams: Yeah, they have absolutely no defense. [01:10:48] Kenny Thunder: They have one less problem at center though. [01:10:49] Ronnie Jams: Yeah, it's true. Dico Ryan's taking over defensive play calling after The Texans started 0 and 4. Anybody see that coming? [01:10:58] Kenny Thunder: The Texans start going talk about things you not have on your, your bingo card this year. I don't think anybody thought that. I mean the Texans, I think you're [01:11:05] Ronnie Jams: seem like a pretty solid team, pretty [01:11:07] Kenny Thunder: good team this year. But it's just, I think the Texans and the Browns are just classic examples of like the NFL and weird things can happen because good teams can lose games and they can even go on streaks of losing games and bad teams sometimes can win games and go the other way. But very unusual. The, the Chargers are another one that kind of had a slow start out of the gate. [01:11:30] Ronnie Jams: Like were they 1 and 3 right now? [01:11:31] Kenny Thunder: I think so. And you would just think with, I mean Harbaugh, Herbert, like just those two names alone you would think would buy a couple of wins. [01:11:39] Ronnie Jams: How long before Harbaugh gets fired? [01:11:41] Kenny Thunder: I don't know. He had that weird speech at the beginning of the year that he was completely committed to the full faith and honor of the Chargers and that was the only thing he cared about or whatever. [01:11:49] Ronnie Jams: And he's a weird dude in general. But I digress. Antonio Brown for our final story, here is back in the news. Fresh off the news that his second degree murder charges may potentially be reduced to aggravated assault. He was active on social media this week. Kenny, what did he have to say [01:12:07] Kenny Thunder: side note, Chargers 04 by the way. [01:12:09] Ronnie Jams: 04 for even worse than I thought. [01:12:12] Kenny Thunder: Sorry. But yes, Antonio Brown had some zingers this week. I mean you just read through the comments on some of the things that he's writing and it's just like, man, this guy. The CTE is real. Because it was, he was, he was just really out there posting some things this week. 1. DeShawn Watson's comeback is more inspirational than any anything Jackie Robinson ever did. [01:12:38] Ronnie Jams: Oh my God. I just, I just. What a comparison. I just. That's insane that that sentence came out of anybody's mouth ever. [01:12:48] Kenny Thunder: The after the Browns victory, he posted Friday Deshaun Watson victory fit, which was a Deshaun Watson jersey, a I guess ski mask, bottle of Cerave lotion, wa an Advertisement For a $69 60 minute massage and a Robert Kraft bobblehead. [01:13:15] Ronnie Jams: Oh my God. [01:13:16] The Bone Man: Oh man, he's. He's messing. [01:13:18] Ronnie Jams: So does he like him or hate him? I don't understand. [01:13:21] Kenny Thunder: Nobody knows. He followed that up with Mike Tomlin got more criticism for being a Minecraft guy than Mike Brable got for being dot dot dot. You know what? Nevermind that one. [01:13:34] Ronnie Jams: He's. Valid point there. [01:13:35] Kenny Thunder: Valid, valid point. [01:13:37] Ronnie Jams: Yeah. [01:13:38] Kenny Thunder: And followed by another cod cogent thought which was why aren't the robots working in the mines in the oil fields and handling toxic chemical chemicals or picking plastic out of the ocean? Why are they writing emails and making PowerPoint presentations? What are we doing? [01:13:53] Ronnie Jams: I mean, that's pretty easy to answer because then the man can't keep you down. So, but I mean, fair, fair question. [01:14:01] Kenny Thunder: I would just say that if you haven't followed Antonio Brown yet on socials, you're missing out because he's delivering the bangers. [01:14:07] Ronnie Jams: Because the dude has no idea what he's talking about at any given moment. It's just, it's just stream of consciousness. It's just like a fever dream at all times. [01:14:17] Kenny Thunder: Yes, absolutely. So Antonio Brown, he's really out there. [01:14:20] Ronnie Jams: Yeah. So that's it for around the NFL, Kenny. [01:14:22] Kenny Thunder: Final, final thing. We have one more story around the NFL. I think we need to take a minute and talk about Kevin Stefanski in the Atlanta Falcons. [01:14:31] Ronnie Jams: Because are they good? [01:14:32] Kenny Thunder: Because the Atlanta Falcons are getting a lot of street cred right now and Kevin Stefanski is getting a lot of respect on his name. [01:14:40] Ronnie Jams: He is a two time coach of [01:14:41] Kenny Thunder: the year and he is two time coach of the year. So I just want to be really clear about what's going on here in Atlanta. Cause I Think it's got a lot of people really confused. [01:14:49] Ronnie Jams: Do you got. Is it the graph? The graph from when he was in Cleveland? [01:14:52] Kenny Thunder: Like, it's, it's not even that. It's. Here's the, here's the thing, right? Like the Atlanta Falcons have confused everybody because they came out week one one and they were complete ass. And we were like, there's Kevin. But all of a sudden they're winning games since Michael Panic came back. There's a couple of things that are really clearly happening here. One, Kevin Stefanski, still ass. Two, he has an absolute cheat code in Bijan Robinson who is averaging like 175 all purpose yards every game this year. He's averaging like seven yards of carry. [01:15:25] Ronnie Jams: You would know, you have him on your fantasy. [01:15:26] Kenny Thunder: He's, he's been absolutely stunning. On his first carry this weekend or on Monday night, he ran 69 yards untouched. Untouched. Like literally just took off. It was gone. Like if you have that guy on your team, you can win a lot of football games. Number three, Michael Penix came back and proved that Cooper Rush is maybe the worst quarterback in the NFL who's really, really bad. [01:15:49] Ronnie Jams: Worse than DeSean, maybe worse than DeSean. I'm sorry. [01:15:53] Kenny Thunder: Michael Penix has been playing fine, has been above his exceeded expectations. So right now you're getting good. [01:15:59] Ronnie Jams: He definitely brought a good quarterback. Drake London's on my team and he's definitely brought him out of the dumps [01:16:04] Kenny Thunder: decent to good quarterback play. You've got a good receiver in Drake London, you've got Kyle Pitts who's played okay, and Bijan Robinson is an absolute cheat code. The final thing is Kevin Stefanski won games here in Cleveland. He started to lose games as he built the organization. Kevin Stefanski won a lot of games with a roster constructed by John Dorsey in the previous regime. Kevin Savansky won a lot of games until he started being a part of the brain trust, making draft picks, drafting guys like Dylan Gabriel. Let him permeate your culture down there in Atlanta for a couple of years. You'll start to see who Kevin Stefanski really is. Don't be fooled by him winning with somebody else's toys. Like that's not the real Kevin Stefanski. The real Kevin Stefanski is a guy that's going to show up after he ruined your franchise, franchise three and four years from now and you guys suck complete ass and are wondering what the hell happened. That'll be the real Kevin Stefanski. [01:17:05] Ronnie Jams: They just gotta, there's a lot of things you gotta work on and they're gonna get better. [01:17:08] Kenny Thunder: Get better. I mean, as long as Bijan stays healthy, like, they're gonna win some games right now. As long as Michael Penix doesn't tear his knee up again, like, they'll be okay for a while, until Kevin Stefanski starts to really get ingrained in Atlanta's culture down there. Because, believe me, the tax man cometh, the rent will be due. [01:17:27] Ronnie Jams: I like this. We got a. We got a Kevin Stefanski rant. And I loved every. [01:17:31] The Bone Man: I just. [01:17:31] Kenny Thunder: I've heard way too much respect on Kevin Stefanski. I agree. A lot of guys on local radio going, well, you know, we kind of liked Kevin. We didn't want Kevin to go. We just thought he kind of. It just kind of ran its course here. No, it ran its course here because Kevin started making decisions that negatively impacted this team over years. [01:17:48] Ronnie Jams: Yeah, yeah. He asked. We called for his job from, like, year two, so just saying he sucks. He sucks. He sucks. This was. This was cathartic. Yeah, I thought that was your gas stop for the week, Kenny. You know what it's time for? [01:18:04] Kenny Thunder: I'm having an anxiety attack. [01:18:06] Ronnie Jams: We'll take a break, and then we'll get into another Brownsbackers interview. [01:18:13] Kenny Thunder: What do you say we interview you? [01:18:16] Speaker E: All right. Yes. [01:18:17] Kenny Thunder: That's a sometimes useful exercise. Please put your hand down. [01:18:20] The Bone Man: Go ahead. [01:18:21] Kenny Thunder: How much money do you make a year before taxes? [01:18:25] Ronnie Jams: Okay, I'm actually not comfortable answering that. [01:18:28] Speaker C: Come on. [01:18:29] Kenny Thunder: We're doing the interview now, not you. [01:18:34] Ronnie Jams: All right, guys, for this Brownsbackers interview, please help me welcome, hailing from Booker and Bangtail in Saratoga Springs, New York, the president of the Saratoga Brownsbackers, Mike. [01:18:44] The Bone Man: Mike. [01:18:45] Kenny Thunder: Hey, old Mike. Mike. [01:18:49] Ronnie Jams: Thank you so much for joining us. How are you today? [01:18:52] Speaker E: I'm doing great. Thanks for having me. [01:18:54] Ronnie Jams: Yeah, no problem. No problem. So, first and foremost, you know, obviously we have all the Brownsbackers chapters on, because we want to know what you guys are doing kind of around the world here. So tell us a little bit about your chapter. [01:19:06] Speaker E: Yeah, so we started our chapter five years ago and just been great. We've been growing ever since. It's, you know, obviously Browns fans, wherever they are, they'll always be die hard Browns fans, and they love to get together and watch the games with other fans. So, you know, that's kind of why I did it, is I'd go and watch the games, and every once in a while I'd see a fan here, fan there. So I said, you know, I should start my own chapter. I lived all over the country and every Time I was out of, you know, anywhere I lived, I would look up the local brownsbacker bar and I would watch games with them. So, yeah, when I came back here, we didn't have one, so I started it. And it's been doing really well. Very family friendly. Just great people. Amazing people. As you know, Browns fans are just the most amazing people in the world. Loyal, humble, just, you know, it's not about winning. It's about football. Friends, family, you know, and just having a good time. If we can stay positive through what we've been through and still go and support the Browns, then, you know, nothing, nothing can get us down. So just amazing people. We just. They're very supportive. [01:20:17] Kenny Thunder: I love them. [01:20:18] Speaker E: So in return, I try to do everything I can to make it as, you know, wonderful for them as possible. I end up buying a lot of stuff for giveaways and just. I share, as you can see, I have so much stuff. What I don't need all this stuff. So I make sure if you're a true Browns fan, you don't leave a game without something. So. [01:20:36] Ronnie Jams: Absolutely. [01:20:37] Speaker E: On top of that, we love to give back to the community. You know, we don't want to just make it about football. It's a game. You know, we're grown ups here. You know, if we're going to be there and do something, let's do something for the community and give back and be better. LifeWorks is the name of the organization, and they're just wonderful. They deliver food for people. They do all types of things. Clothing. But we have in the past supported their food pantry. And how I do it is I offer a raffle ticket for every two items that you bring in to donate. [01:21:18] Ronnie Jams: Nice. [01:21:19] Speaker E: So at the end of the four weeks, I usually do it four times a year. Whoever gets drawn wins a prize. So a lot of people try to, you know, donate as much as possible and get as many tickets as possible so they can win, you know, autograph footballs or jerseys or whatever. So, you know, come the end of the year, quite a bit of food gets donated. We really don't keep track of it. We should, but it's not about that. You know, we're not trying to brag or any of that. We're just trying to give back and that's all that matters. [01:21:51] Ronnie Jams: Yeah. No, and that's a staple of brownsbackers kind of across the world. [01:21:55] Kenny Thunder: And. [01:21:55] Ronnie Jams: And really, like I said, it's a big reason why we do this interview series is because we just want to shine a light on what Everybody is doing for their respective communities across this whole, you know. You know, everywhere. Like I said, it's worldwide. I think it's up to. I want to say it's like 30 some different countries that there's Brownsbackers in. [01:22:12] Speaker E: So, yeah, from what I heard, this is dated, but it was with the largest organized fan club and professionals. [01:22:20] Ronnie Jams: Yep, yep. That's still accurate. [01:22:23] Speaker E: You know, I kind of look back to when we were, you know, the elite Browns of the glory days. Fan clubs were very popular. Popular. You know, you would sign up and write letters, and so I think that's probably where it originated. And then from there, fan clubs became less popular, and now it's easy to [01:22:47] Ronnie Jams: hang on to the top spot. [01:22:49] Kenny Thunder: Mike, are you saying that we're not elite right now? [01:22:53] Ronnie Jams: The fans, the team, the team, the team. The fans are always elite. [01:22:59] Speaker E: I mean, the city. I mean, I'm not. Obviously, I'm New York. Right. So I'm not from. From Cleveland. I don't know if you guys realize how hard it is to be this guy in New York your whole life, you know, takes a certain type of person. You know, you can't be worried about what other people think or say. You know, you got to brush it off. You got to have tough skin, and you got to really have belief and dedication into what you're supporting. And it's not about the players. They come and go. Do I want them to do good? Yes. But it's really about the other fans, the other people, the city, the colors. That's all that matters. Like, that wins and it outlasts all players, coaches, owners, I guess. We sued to keep it, unfortunately, but we'll have it forever, I guess. And that's what I support when I go to a game here in the New York. It's not the same when I go anywhere. We have people are fans of 20 different teams here. They're worried about what people think about them. So they. They're front runners. They don't even wear their colors if the team's not doing well. So I just am not that guy. I never will be. And I'm proud of who I am. I'm proud of other Browns fans for sticking with their team and not, you know, giving up on them. It's just shows. It shows character. [01:24:21] Ronnie Jams: Absolutely. [01:24:22] Kenny Thunder: How did you become a Brown? [01:24:24] Speaker E: So my mom and my dad are divorced and my dad lived in Mentor Paynesville. Actually it's Concord right in between there. A small little township. And he had season tickets during the 84 through 80. No, through 90s actually, I guess. But my first game I ever went to. What was it called? Marathon on the Lake, I think they called it. It was the Browns jets divisional playoff game. Double overtime. We won, obviously went on to go play Denver. So this would have been like 85. It's like new Year's Day, I believe, because I live here. I would go there on school breaks and happen to catch that game. He had season tickets, but he didn't have four. He had two. So me and my second sister didn't sit with them. He had one ticket was in the same section, and one ticket was not. It was like nosebleeds. So first half, I sit down in the same section as my dad. I was eight, I think. And second half, I'm up in the nosebleeds by myself. Eight years old. Divisional playoff game in Cleveland. People next to me taking tequila shots. I'm like, what is that? What's the line? Lemon salt. [01:25:42] Speaker C: What are they doing? [01:25:43] Speaker E: That looks school, but it went double overtime. So, I mean, like, I got the second half, but I got, like a full game by myself. It was just different time. But at the same time, we're all family. They were watching out for me, you know, they. It was just amazing. And to see the whole stadium just get that win and just be so happy and just. We were all so supportive of each other. They're so kind. It was just, you're never going to get it out of me, no matter how hard you try. Cleveland Browns fan for life. When they stole the team and brought it to Baltimore, I just didn't watch football. It was like, no, can't root for anybody else. [01:26:24] Kenny Thunder: I love that story. Yeah, that's definitely a watershed moment that can make you a fan for life. So I love that story. [01:26:31] Ronnie Jams: It sounds like just an absolute core memory for you. So you don't look old enough to [01:26:36] Kenny Thunder: be going to Games in 1990. [01:26:37] The Bone Man: 85. [01:26:39] Speaker E: Yeah. Next week we went to our. Two weeks later, I think we went to. No, it'd been next week we went to Denver. And that was. Was it the drive, I guess would have been. And, you know, heartbroken. Said, we'll get them next year. Next year, you know, the fumble or vice versa. I was eight, you know, I don't remember. But a couple years later, we played them again. It's like, man, the odds got to be that we'll win one of these. Right? We got to win one of these. Was like, we're going to win one real quick. And then, you know, who would have known? 30 years of what we've been through. But, you know, I've came to the point now where we've transcended winning and losing. It doesn't matter. It's almost like when we're really good, it's kind of not as fun. You know, you get anxious, nervous. You know what I mean? You're not, like, relaxed and having a good time anymore. You're, like, really stressed. [01:27:38] Ronnie Jams: And I mean, to that point, I was just having a conversation today. I was like, man, I. I really want to just ride this high and. And love what's happening and enjoy it. And I am enjoying. I'm not saying I'm not, but at the same time, I'm. I'm just like, in the back of my head, I'm like, when's the other shoe gonna drop? When is. When's. Where's. They're overachieving right now. Something bad's gotta happen, happen. So, yeah, we all are. [01:28:00] Speaker E: Every. Every single Browns fan's like, I've seen this before. Am I going to get my hopes up? Yes, absolutely. But I'm going to be disappointed. We all know it. We see it coming. [01:28:12] Ronnie Jams: Our board, man, you can't see him over here. But Bone has been saying. I think he said it last week, he's like, I'm in. I'm in. We're gonna. It's time to win the Super Bowl. [01:28:22] Speaker E: Oh, I say it every time. Super Bowl, bowl, hall of Fame, let's go. [01:28:27] Ronnie Jams: Yeah. So, I mean, with that being said, you know, this week's game, what do you think is going to happen this week? Obviously, we got the jets. We're coming into. They're going to New York, so it'll be close to you. What do you think's going to happen in this one? [01:28:42] Speaker E: Yeah, I mean, I really wanted to go. I usually do support the guys down there. It's a great time. [01:28:47] Ronnie Jams: You got another one coming to New York later this year and again, yeah, [01:28:51] Speaker E: I probably are going to try to make that one be a little cold, older, but I usually do. But because we just moved viewing locations, I really want to be there and just kind of, you know, support my chapter and, you know, I just don't want to take off on. Especially after the long, you know, 10 day since the last game. [01:29:11] Ronnie Jams: Spoken like a true president. [01:29:12] Kenny Thunder: Company man there. Company man. [01:29:14] Speaker E: Yeah. Yeah. So as far as the game. So, I mean, obviously we're. We're rolling, but I also. I'm not good at predictions, so I also don't know anything about the Jets. I haven't Watched anything like, I heard Geno Smith is their quarterback again. [01:29:33] Ronnie Jams: Yeah. [01:29:33] Speaker E: Is that even a thing? [01:29:35] Ronnie Jams: Yeah, it's like it's 2019 again. [01:29:39] Speaker E: What's their record? [01:29:41] Kenny Thunder: One and three. [01:29:41] Ronnie Jams: One and three. [01:29:43] Speaker E: All right, here we go. So we're going to go in there. Desean's still playing for his career. We get some of these rookies, they're going to start getting a little more activated here or acclimated. Fannin's going to keep tearing it up. He's going to have two touchdowns. Concepcion is going to get in for a score. We're finally, it might be a kickoff punt return or something. We're finally going to get one of those. You know, it's been long enough. We're due. This game sucks it to the house. So what's that? 27 to 17. [01:30:18] Ronnie Jams: Oh, we missed an extra point. You think, you think, you think we're going to miss an extra point? [01:30:24] Speaker E: No. Two field goals. [01:30:25] Kenny Thunder: Two field goals. [01:30:26] Ronnie Jams: But you, you. But we had four scores there. So [01:30:30] Speaker E: Conception takes it to the house and Fannin has two. Who else did I ask? [01:30:34] Ronnie Jams: Oh, that's his touchdown. I got you. Okay, we're good. We're good. 27. [01:30:37] Kenny Thunder: I feel like I don't even need to watch the game now. I'd rather just live in this reality. [01:30:41] Ronnie Jams: Listen, all I heard just now is if you have Concepcion, stardom and fantastic manifest. [01:30:46] Speaker E: Let's go. [01:30:46] Ronnie Jams: Yeah, well, Boston was getting so much [01:30:49] Speaker E: action that I feel like, you know, Concepcion was kind of feeling a certain way. So the coach is like, yeah, we kind of got to work him in now. Get them both comfortable. [01:30:59] Ronnie Jams: I like this. 2714, was it? [01:31:03] Speaker E: No, 17. [01:31:04] Ronnie Jams: 2717. That's the. [01:31:06] Speaker E: Yeah, because they're going to book some late garbage school. [01:31:09] Ronnie Jams: Yep. So listen, Mike. So I, I, I love the prediction. I'm excited if that's the way the game goes, especially because all I think about with the jets is the time that we were up two scores, then we lost a few years ago. That was. [01:31:20] Speaker E: Yeah, no, I remember that game. [01:31:22] Ronnie Jams: Yeah, that was terrible. But what I want to ask you is I know you're friends with our, our boys over there in North Jersey, and he's Angry Bobby. And I kind of heard through the grapevine that you've got a nick after the year. They are the chapter of the year. Yes. But I've heard through the grapevine that you've got a little bit of a nickname too, that kind of mirrors Angry Bobby. Is that right? [01:31:46] Speaker E: Oh, no, I, I don't know. I, I was just Joking around in the text. I guess my nickname would be Saratoga Mike because the other president from Sarasota is Sarasota Mike. So they get. They confuse us all the time. So that's what everybody calls me, Saratoga Mike. [01:32:00] Ronnie Jams: But I. [01:32:00] Speaker E: But I don't know what. I can't even remember what I said. He said angry. [01:32:04] Ronnie Jams: He said angry Bobby, so I said [01:32:06] Speaker E: angry Bob and I think I changed. [01:32:09] Ronnie Jams: Mad Mike. [01:32:10] Speaker E: Mad Mike. [01:32:11] Ronnie Jams: Yeah, yeah, yeah. [01:32:13] Speaker E: I mean I'm. I'm the only one who's ever said that. So I don't know if it's a nickname. [01:32:20] Ronnie Jams: Dubbed himself I am now Mad Mike. You don't sound mad. [01:32:23] Speaker E: 27:17 kickoff return Mad Mike. [01:32:30] Kenny Thunder: If it happens, energy Mad Mike. [01:32:31] Speaker E: Bring me in the show. Bring me on the show. It'll be Burning river featuring Mad Mike. This is the Saratoga Browns backers and you're listening to the Burning River Sportscast. Go Browns. [01:32:52] Ronnie Jams: Good time talking to Mike from the Saratoga Brownsbackers. Sorry, sorry. Yeah. Sorry for the technical difficulties though. [01:32:58] Kenny Thunder: That's Mrs. [01:32:59] Ronnie Jams: I don't know what that was. It's never happened before. [01:33:01] Kenny Thunder: But we'll have Mike back. [01:33:02] Ronnie Jams: We had performance issues. [01:33:04] Kenny Thunder: Yeah. [01:33:05] Ronnie Jams: Performance. [01:33:05] Kenny Thunder: We need performance enhancers. [01:33:07] Ronnie Jams: Yeah. [01:33:08] The Bone Man: We need great, great Browns fan story. [01:33:11] Speaker C: Oh, yeah. [01:33:12] The Bone Man: That was fantastic. [01:33:13] Kenny Thunder: One of the best I've ever heard. [01:33:17] Ronnie Jams: You could tell he was just like reliving it as he was telling it too. Like he's. It was. He was back and it was that core memory was. [01:33:23] Kenny Thunder: Was there that. That kind of experience can. Yeah. Just become a core. I mean to change you. Like the fact that you still remember that and just the recall of like things that were happening around the time, like it's one of those that. That sticks with you. [01:33:39] The Bone Man: This just speaks to the time too where it's just like, yeah, babies weren't buckled up in that time. You know, eight year old kids just [01:33:45] Ronnie Jams: get left at Brown's games just thinking like, oh my God. [01:33:51] Kenny Thunder: Like, I mean can you imagine today like if you took one of your Brown game and you were like, go [01:33:57] The Bone Man: ahead, you be arrested. [01:33:58] Kenny Thunder: I didn't have tickets next to each other, so you're going to get. [01:34:02] Ronnie Jams: I'm not even close. [01:34:03] Kenny Thunder: You just couldn't do that. You couldn't do it. [01:34:05] Ronnie Jams: No. It's wild. [01:34:06] Kenny Thunder: But like that was a pretty normal that you were like, hey, he's eight. He could take care of himself. [01:34:09] The Bone Man: Sheriff. [01:34:10] Kenny Thunder: Like he was. That was not a thing you thought about really. [01:34:12] Ronnie Jams: Sign of the times, I guess. [01:34:14] Speaker C: Sign of the. [01:34:15] Kenny Thunder: The times. [01:34:17] Ronnie Jams: That's a deep cut from Burning river sports cast. [01:34:20] Kenny Thunder: But a little bit sad actually though, because like other people, there's kids that are going to grow up and never have an experience like that again because you just can't do it. [01:34:29] Ronnie Jams: Nope. Nope. But we talked about a little bit with Mike, but I think it's time to dive into this week's this week's game with the Week 5 preview. All right, guys, this week we have the goddamn Jets. [01:34:50] Kenny Thunder: God damn Jets. [01:34:52] Ronnie Jams: Kenny. With every preview, we get to listen to Kenny's Cliff's notes. [01:34:58] Kenny Thunder: Kenny's Cliff's note. [01:35:02] Ronnie Jams: What do you got for Cliff's notes? [01:35:03] Kenny Thunder: Kenny's Cliff's notes. Is it Cliff Notes or Cliff Notes? [01:35:06] Ronnie Jams: Stop doing this. We've established it. [01:35:09] Kenny Thunder: Browns at Jets Week 5 Here we go. The Cleveland Browns head to MetLife Stadium Sunday, sitting at 3 and 1 for [01:35:17] Ronnie Jams: the first of two times. [01:35:18] Kenny Thunder: For the first of two times for two people, sitting at 3 and 1 and riding a three game winning streak while the New York jets enter it 1 and 3 after losing 3. [01:35:28] Ronnie Jams: Losers. Losers. [01:35:30] Kenny Thunder: Head coach Aaron Glenn is in his second season as New York State head coach, 4 and 17 overall. Glenn, who was actually with the Brown staff in 2015, is a respected defensive mind, but the results just haven't followed. With the jets already facing questions about whether Glenn could be gone in a New York minute. Offensive coordinator Frank Reich is in his first season as New York's offensive coordinator after previously serving as the head coach of both the Colts and the Panthers. Reich and Glenn have a history in New York where they originally became friends. Friends. Get it? Because Friends, the TV show is in New York. [01:36:08] Ronnie Jams: Oh my God. [01:36:12] Kenny Thunder: Reich was actually a Jets quarterback and played with Aaron Glenn in 1996. Defensive coordinator Brian Dukey. I mean Duker. Brian Duker just as bad. He's the Duker. He's. Does the, the Duker that takes the dookie. Duker spent the previous two seasons as Miami's pass game coordinator because they're dookie and leads this 4, 3 defense. Gino Smith has actually been better than the 1 in 3 record suggests through four games. 902 passing yards, almost 73% completion percentage, five touchdowns, zero interceptions. Didn't see that coming. 109 passer rating, 7.7 yards per attempt. [01:36:53] Ronnie Jams: So Geno Smith still got it. [01:36:55] Kenny Thunder: He's. He's playing well, but I mean we all know that he's not, he's not that great. But one thing he is is a veteran. According to Next Gen, he's actually completing 65% of his passes when pressured and averaging almost 10 yards per attempt. Under pressure, so the Browns front can't just settle for disruption. They need to get home. Breeze hall has just 163 yards and one touchdown through four games this season, but is one of their better players and figures to be a large part of the jets game plan as they need to get him going if they're going to turn things things around. Braylon Allen spells Garrett Wilson remains the jets biggest offensive weapon and will put Denzel Ward to the test and what should be the premier matchup of the afternoon. The rest of that receiver room is trash. If I said their names, you wouldn't recognize who they are anyway, so we won't. They do though have Kenyan Sadiq who hasn't done a lot so far, but he is an athlete and a definitive wild card. This offensive line is basically ass. They've given up the fourth most pressures in the NFL through four games and left tackle Olu Fashanu is a big part of that, having already surrendered 11 pressures and five sacks by himself. Coward on defense, they are only allowing 193.3 passing yards per game, which does rank sixth in the NFL. The jets aren't overly imposing, but they have several players capable of creating pressure David Bailey, Demario Davis and Kingsley and Nag Bear. Not sure how to say that 1. Each have don't attempt it again 2. Sex I won't 2. Sex I was a little afraid I didn't want to mess up. Each have two sacks already. Their cornerbacks Thomas and Stevens have been particularly impressive, allowing just 0.78 yards per coverage snap, which is fourth best among qualifying cornerback tandems. Our old friend Minka Fitzpatrick is the veteran on the back end and is always a concern. 30 year old Jason Sanders in his ninth season but first kicking for the jets after spending the entirety of his career in Miami before. Interesting little something subplot here was actually cut and signed to the practice squad in August just before the season and Blake Groupie was signed and slated to be the starter. Aaron Glenn got cold feet after Groupie had only been working with the specialists for a week before the season and started Sanders week one, who's gone on to start five of six and on September 29th Blake Groupie was officially released permanently ending the late camp battle. Austin McNamara is in his second season as the jets punter. Cool name, lame job. Bottom line, Geno Smith is playing efficient football, Garrett Wilson is dangerous, the jets secondary is legitimately good and they're playing at home. Can the Browns leave New Jersey 4 and 1 it's all I got Go Browns. [01:39:37] Speaker C: You just. [01:39:38] Ronnie Jams: You stole part of my later summary in yours, but I'll let it slide with any. Every edition of Kenny's Cliff Notes comes another edition of Ronnie Jams matchups. All right, guys, I've got two matchups for you. [01:40:00] Kenny Thunder: Is there two? [01:40:01] Ronnie Jams: There's two of them. [01:40:01] Kenny Thunder: There's always two. [01:40:02] Ronnie Jams: Number one this week, Mike Hall Jr. Vs. Joe Tippman. [01:40:09] Kenny Thunder: Oh, Tip. [01:40:09] Ronnie Jams: And Dylan Parham. Par. [01:40:11] Speaker C: Parm. [01:40:12] Ronnie Jams: Parum. Yeah. [01:40:14] Kenny Thunder: Nice. [01:40:14] Ronnie Jams: The right guard and left guard of the New York jets, Mike Hall Jr. Is the main interior defensive lineman for the Browns as Mason Graham recovers from an McLaren sprain. And he's been getting after the quarterback himself early on in the season and even in the preseason a few times. So I know they even. We talked about this in the preseason. They had split him out and let him play some defensive end in the preseason. [01:40:38] Kenny Thunder: So he's the new Miles Garrett. [01:40:40] Ronnie Jams: Yeah, no, he's not. But he is playing defensive tackle and so. Yeah, just want to see how he fares in this one. Joe Tipman got a big contract extension in the off season, is considered one of the best of his position. So just. You talked about it. We got to get home. We got to generate pressure this week, and we actually have to get home. So we'll see if Mike Hawkins Jr. Can do that. [01:41:01] Kenny Thunder: I wonder if his friends call him Joe Just the tip man. [01:41:04] Ronnie Jams: I would. I know I would. And then next up, Garrett Wilson versus Denzel Ward. This is just a classic, you know, top corner, top receiver matchup here. Denzel Ward, another strong game last week. We talked about it on Sunday. The dude seems absolutely timeless. And then obviously, Garrett Wilson is really good at what he does, and he's a favorite target for Geno Smith. So can Denzel Ward shut down their top weapon on offense and make them one dimensional? Because they haven't been really good with the run this season. So if we can make them stick to. If we can make them have to try and beat us on the ground, I think the Browns have a pretty good chance in this one. In summary here, the jets current actually didn't give their current record. I think it's 1 and 3. I forgot to write it in my notes. Um, but so far this season, their Defense is number 11 overall with 368.316.8 yards per game. You mentioned it in yours. Their past defense is number six with 193.2 yards per game. Their run defense is number 25 with 123.5 yards per game given up on offense, they are 24 overall in the NFL, 286 yards per game. Their running game is number 28 at just 84 yards per game. And their passing game is number 18 at 202 yards per game. The Browns on the flip side, current record is three and one coming off another win, this time over the Steelers. So far this season overall on defense, they're number 23, which I thought was low after some of these last couple [01:42:33] Kenny Thunder: games, but that feels like they've played better than 23. [01:42:37] Ronnie Jams: Yeah, that's just based on yardage, I guess so. Not. Not necessarily like points and other things. So number 23 overall, 348.5 yards per game. Their past defense is number 23 with 235.2 yards per game. The run defense number number 28 at 113.2 yards per game. And then offensively, the Browns hit at number 23 in the NFL, 292.5 yards per game. Number 23 in the running game at 93.8 yards per game. So not much better than the jets there. Gotta get the running game going. And in the passing game, the Browns are number 21 at 198.8 yards per game. [01:43:11] Kenny Thunder: I think you dyslexic. The Browns run defense as 28th in the NFL when they're 18. 18th said the yards per game. Right, But I think he said 28th, so that's a big difference. 28 is near the bottom and they're more in the middle. [01:43:27] Ronnie Jams: No, well, I said the Jet. I don't care. The Jets. I said the jets were the number 28 in their offensively running game. It doesn't matter. [01:43:36] Kenny Thunder: When you listen to it, you'll hear it. [01:43:37] Ronnie Jams: Yeah, I don't know. It doesn't matter. The run defense number 28 at 113.2 yards per game. But either way, regardless of what all these stats in every game there's a chance, there's. There's a way that you can win. And so I'm going to toss it over to Bone because it's time for the big Bone man to bring us [01:43:56] Kenny Thunder: Bone man skeleton key to victory. [01:44:02] The Bone Man: I got a. I got a way to win this week. [01:44:07] Kenny Thunder: That's good. [01:44:08] Ronnie Jams: Well, that's what we. [01:44:09] The Bone Man: I'm going back to my bread and butter and that's that. That's quarterback pressure. You guys already touched on it. But our D line has been impressive this week and I think think they're going to continue throughout the year. They're going to continue to do that and I think we're going to get to the quarterback and I think we're going to get them to the ground. I'm going to say five plus sacks again. It's happening again. [01:44:32] Ronnie Jams: Holy Schmidt. [01:44:33] The Bone Man: I'm not going to say it's going to be five different players, but I think we're going to be getting the Geno Smith regardless of what they try to do to combat our rushing D line. [01:44:43] Ronnie Jams: So we're going to put them in the dirt. [01:44:44] Kenny Thunder: Yeah, put him in the dirt. [01:44:46] Speaker C: Dirt. [01:44:46] Ronnie Jams: Nice. I like that. [01:44:47] Kenny Thunder: Grave digger. [01:44:48] Ronnie Jams: So five sacks. [01:44:50] The Bone Man: Five sacks pressures. Leave the turnovers and we'll see what happens. [01:44:54] Kenny Thunder: Pressure the turnovers. [01:44:55] Ronnie Jams: I like it. County too. [01:44:56] Kenny Thunder: Betting info I. I have officially, I think from FanDuel one and a half minus one and a half. [01:45:03] Ronnie Jams: That's what I think I saw. [01:45:04] Kenny Thunder: But I saw another one that was two and a half. So let's call it two. But over under 40 and a half, [01:45:12] Ronnie Jams: about 20 points a team. That's probably, that's probably good because. And the jets ain't gonna score points. So anyways, hopefully we score 40. Yeah. Players to watch. I'll start. I already mentioned him earlier in this one and I think he's gonna be a big key to victory. As Bone alluded to Mike Hall Jr. For me, you know, he's got to step up. I don't think there's been any point since he's been here where he's been considered a quote unquote, quote leader of the defensive front. But that's what he is right now. Because with Mason Graham gone, we don't have a lot of guys on that defensive front that have the athleticism and the ability to get after it like Mike Hall Jr. Does. So I think he really needs to step up in this one. [01:45:53] Kenny Thunder: Look, he's been the butt of a lot of jokes. We've had our, you know, prodding of him a little bit just with some of the off the field issues that he had coming in. But he seems to be one of those guys that's really kind of come into his own this year. Seems to be playing some really high level balls. So I'm excited to see what he does the rest of the year. [01:46:09] Ronnie Jams: Yep. Kenny, who's your player to watch? [01:46:12] Kenny Thunder: I'm gonna go. Maybe a little surprise here. I'm gonna go. Jerry Judy. Mostly because nothing about this team makes sense this year. Jerry Judy was pretty much written off as trade bait. We've been talking about his body language and being upset, maybe not getting along with the coaching staff. Todd Monkin unhappy with his role in this offense offense and then absolutely shows up making one of the most ridiculous catches I've ever seen to advance the Browns on that last drive of the Pittsburgh game. Just three catches for 36 yards in that game, but made an impact when and where it mattered most. So maybe this week, all the attention on Boston kc, Jerry Judy gets his. It's just the most Browns thing that can happen because we had pretty much written this guy off as a non factor and, you know, seems to be kind of playing his role as like, you know, selfless. But like, maybe he's about to turn course here as well and start to be a real factor for this offense going forward. So I'll go Jerry Judy, did you [01:47:09] Ronnie Jams: hear desean after the game? He said that basically he had talked to Judy earlier in the game. He said, look, I know you're frustrated. I know you're not getting the ball a lot, but I need you to stick with me because I'm going to need you. And so like, not to give a know, it just is one of those things that, you know, if that was said and that's what happened, I mean, good on Deshaun Watson to get on his receiver and say, look, I, I know we, we all know how receivers get when they don't get the ball, but stay in this thing. You're going to have your moment and we're going to need you as a team. So. [01:47:42] Kenny Thunder: And I think they asked Jerry Judy a little bit like after the game or in a press conference this week, and his response was very selfless. He was basically like, well, we're winning, so. [01:47:51] Ronnie Jams: Which is what you want to hear. So maybe, maybe it's all just. It kind of goes back to the Shador thing almost, right? It's like he, you know, some people read that as body language, but maybe it's just a, as a player, you're an NFL player, you have an ego a little bit. So I'm sure it's frustrating when these guys aren't getting the ball as much as they think they should to help the team. But at the end of the day, most of these guys are competitors and they want to win. [01:48:15] Kenny Thunder: So I think that's something that we don't. We don't really have enough. I don't want to call it appreciation, but just understanding of which is. And not that it's like you should have some kind of ego or like you're entitled to have one. But none of us, and probably anyone listening to this podcast have ever been the Best in the world at something. You know, like, you know, these guys that are on NFL rock rosters are one of the 32 best in the world at what they do. Yeah, like, there's just. When's the last time you were in the top 30 in the world at anything? I mean, if you were the top 30th, Bones. [01:49:00] Ronnie Jams: A top 10 crossfitter. [01:49:02] Kenny Thunder: But if you were, like, the 32nd ranked chess player in the world, you would probably have an air about you. You'd probably be like, I'm pretty good at chess. [01:49:09] Ronnie Jams: You ever seen Magnuson or whatever his name is, play chess? He's so mad at everything. [01:49:13] Speaker C: Yeah, like. [01:49:14] Kenny Thunder: But I think that comes naturally with competitive fire. That is in someone who is the best in the world at what they do. If you were the best car salesman in the world, you would probably walk around with a way about you and you would feel a certain way about yourself and the way everybody else goes to market every day, like, these guys are the best in the world at what they do, and I think it's only natural to have a mindset that goes along with that. So, sure. I'm sure it's frustrating when you're not a part of the game plan or you're not getting the ball or you're not having a chance to play at all. It's just the human nature component of it that we. We, I think, take for granted sometimes. [01:49:49] Ronnie Jams: Yeah. Bone. Player to watch. That's a long winded answer for Jerry [01:49:52] Kenny Thunder: Judy by Jerry Judy, baby. [01:49:53] The Bone Man: We're still in the segment. [01:49:54] Ronnie Jams: Yeah. [01:49:54] The Bone Man: All right, I'm gonna go. I'm gonna go. Deshawn, I want. I want to see. [01:50:01] Ronnie Jams: You know, you're not allowed to pick him for dog. [01:50:03] Kenny Thunder: He's been banned from dog of the week. [01:50:04] The Bone Man: But, yeah, Player to watch, though. He started the year off pretty well these last three performances, and I want to see, like, kind of a more consistent just of him taking care of the football, because you guys kind of alluded to it earlier, there's been opportunities for the defense to take advantage of, and they haven't. The defense that we faced, you know, just dropped opportunities for interceptions. He's put the ball on the ground quite a few times, and it's kind of rolled our way. And as we kind of talked about earlier, that could change in a second. So I just want to see him take care of the ball, and hopefully he does that this week. [01:50:40] Kenny Thunder: Someone taking advantage of Deshaun Watson, that would be a turn of events. [01:50:45] Ronnie Jams: Did not have that on my bingo card. Yeah. So, yeah, with that, it's time to get gassed. All right, Kenny, what do you got for us for gassed up this week? [01:51:08] Kenny Thunder: So we won't got to spend a lot of time here because the show's been long already. But I just came across something that was. That broke my brain this week. You ever cook for like, entertain family, friends? Cook something real good, real nice steak? What do people say about that meal? [01:51:25] The Bone Man: Delicious. [01:51:26] Ronnie Jams: Great. [01:51:27] Kenny Thunder: They might say this is a restaurant quality steel steak, you know, okay, what [01:51:34] Ronnie Jams: if it's a bad restaurant? [01:51:37] Kenny Thunder: That's you're getting ungassed. So they might say the restaurant quality, like at home, you aim to make restaurant quality food. [01:51:46] The Bone Man: Sure. [01:51:48] Kenny Thunder: Yet every restaurant advertises themselves as home cooking. [01:51:57] The Bone Man: It's a good point. [01:51:59] Kenny Thunder: And I was just thinking about this and I'm like, I don't know. I don't even know how to like, how do we just. How do we validate what food is good? Is restaurant food good or is home cooking good? [01:52:07] The Bone Man: Just like mama used to make it. [01:52:09] Kenny Thunder: Just like. Like that's what would be on a menu. [01:52:11] Speaker C: Right. [01:52:13] Kenny Thunder: Didn't that hurt your brain a little? [01:52:14] Ronnie Jams: Is this a paradox? [01:52:15] Kenny Thunder: It feels like one. I don't know that I'm guessed up [01:52:19] Ronnie Jams: about it, but what's it called when there's something loop, like there's name for it? [01:52:23] Kenny Thunder: I forget a loop. A loop is something that goes in a circle. [01:52:26] Ronnie Jams: Yeah, but. But there's a spec. Anyways, [01:52:31] Kenny Thunder: it just hurt my brain way [01:52:32] Ronnie Jams: more than say that. [01:52:34] The Bone Man: I feel like it. It hits back to a different time where almost every meal was home cooked at home. And it wasn't easy Mac or your mom. Hamburger Helper. [01:52:45] Ronnie Jams: I was going to say your mom's easy Mac. [01:52:47] The Bone Man: I feel like people are getting more. Your mom's Hamburger Helper folks are getting back into home cooked meals more often. But I feel like in the early, you know, the 90s and early 2000s, there was a lot of just frozen frozen dinners out there. [01:53:02] Kenny Thunder: I guess it leads to the question, what is better restaurant quality or home cooking? [01:53:07] Ronnie Jams: I would say it depends on what it is. [01:53:10] Kenny Thunder: That wasn't the question. [01:53:14] Ronnie Jams: I'm always trying to turn this gas stuff down. [01:53:16] Kenny Thunder: What's the definition of quality food? Is it home cooking or is it restaurant quality? [01:53:24] Ronnie Jams: Yep. I don't know. [01:53:28] The Bone Man: Yeah, I don't know. [01:53:28] Ronnie Jams: This is. This is legitimately hurting my brain too. I'm like, what do. Why advertise it that way? But then we say it's restaurant. [01:53:36] Kenny Thunder: Every restaurant wants to produce home cooking, but every home cooking, everybody who Cooks at home wants to make it restaurant quality. The it's just one of those things. Sign of the times. [01:53:46] Ronnie Jams: Sign of the times. [01:53:47] Kenny Thunder: I'm gassed up now with that. [01:53:50] Ronnie Jams: Let's go ahead and get to the king of the North. [01:53:59] Speaker E: All right. [01:54:00] Ronnie Jams: In case anyone doesn't know by now, this is our year long AFC north pick them competition at the end of the season, whoever comes in last place gets punished. In the preseason three years ago, Kenny had a gross of eggs thrown at him by fans of the meeting lot before a game. In the preseason two years ago, Kenny had his hair and beard shaved clean off. Last season, Kenny donned the pads for the first time in almost 20 years and got hit three times by our guy, Big John Hughes. [01:54:19] Speaker E: Big John. [01:54:20] Ronnie Jams: And still to come this season for losing last year will be getting a Brazilian wax. So man zillion. Man Zillion. That sounds. It sounds like a number for some reason. Are you excited about the man Zillion? [01:54:33] Kenny Thunder: I don't have a man zillion dollars, that's for sure. [01:54:36] Ronnie Jams: In the loser of this season's the punishment is going to be decided. We haven't. We haven't figured out but we set a deadline for it. What was it? The 18th, right when our Bernie Kozar jersey giveaway ends. [01:54:46] Kenny Thunder: What if I got a Manzelian Manzilian? I just had them cut Johnny Manziel into my. [01:54:52] Ronnie Jams: Now we're talking. Yeah, now we're talking. You got. We got to put a picture of that online somehow. That'll be fun. Let's go ahead and get into the things. First things first, I want to remind everyone that I'm the reigning defending king of the North. [01:55:05] Kenny Thunder: How's that going for you? [01:55:07] Ronnie Jams: I'm still reigning defending so it's going good. I feel good. Kenny, you're a clown. Let me remind everyone, current records after week four, Bone and Kenny are at eight and six and I am trailing right now at the six and eight. [01:55:20] The Bone Man: Oh yeah. [01:55:21] Ronnie Jams: Now this week's games, Ravens head to Atlanta to take on Kevin and the Kevin in the Atlanta Bajan Robinson's. So that dude is so good right now. [01:55:33] Kenny Thunder: Like I have been blown away. [01:55:36] Ronnie Jams: But John Robinson so hot right now. [01:55:38] Kenny Thunder: So hot right now. [01:55:39] Ronnie Jams: Kenny, who you got? [01:55:40] Kenny Thunder: Which game was it? [01:55:42] Ronnie Jams: Ravens, Falcons. [01:55:46] Kenny Thunder: This is, this is the time of year anything, everything can change in one week. Guys can all go a different direction. Sorry I lost my spot. [01:55:58] Ronnie Jams: So Ravens or Falcons? [01:56:00] Kenny Thunder: Ravens or Falcons? I think the turning point is going to be Lamar Jackson's ankle, how healthy it is and Bijan has been really good. So I'm going to maybe take a flyer here. I'm going to go Falcons over Ravens this week. [01:56:17] Ronnie Jams: I really hate you because I am also going Falcons because I believe the initial reports are that Tyler Hlin may play. Yeah. Lamar Jackson is doubtful for this next game, so I am going Falcons as well, because if. If he does play, he ain't going to play well. And the Ravens defense is ass, so [01:56:39] Kenny Thunder: Cam Jurgens can't play defense. [01:56:41] Ronnie Jams: No, no, no, no. Bone, who you got? [01:56:44] The Bone Man: Yeah, Tyler Huntley is. He's. I don't know, as good of a backup. He's a bat. As good of a backup quarterback as there is. I feel like in the NFL, he's [01:56:51] Kenny Thunder: as good as DeSean. Probably. [01:56:53] The Bone Man: Yeah. But I still think the Falcons are going to win because Bijan's going to run all over him. [01:56:59] Ronnie Jams: I would have never guessed that. [01:57:00] Kenny Thunder: All three of us. [01:57:01] Ronnie Jams: All three of us in week five are going Falcon. [01:57:02] Kenny Thunder: It's because Kevin hasn't had a chance to break them yet. [01:57:05] Ronnie Jams: It's because Kevin. Kevin is such a good coach that he has this team going in the right direction. [01:57:10] Kenny Thunder: No, stop it. [01:57:11] Speaker C: I'm going to pee. [01:57:12] The Bone Man: I don't actually believe that stabilized this organization. [01:57:15] Ronnie Jams: Shut up, Bone. Next up, Cincinnati travels to Miami. Bone, who you got? [01:57:21] The Bone Man: Cincinnati back on track. [01:57:25] Ronnie Jams: All right, short and sweet. Kenny, who you got? [01:57:27] Kenny Thunder: Cincinnati year to date, has scored 97 points. Miami has scored 46. I'll go bangles over the Dolphins. [01:57:35] The Bone Man: I stat nice stat. [01:57:36] Kenny Thunder: Twice as many points. [01:57:37] Ronnie Jams: I got Cincinnati as well. Miami's really bad. [01:57:40] Kenny Thunder: They're awful. [01:57:41] Ronnie Jams: Like, really bad. So, yeah, not gaining ground on anybody right now. That's good. Next up here, we got Pittsburgh hosting the Indianapolis Colts. Pittsburgh's like Jekyll and Hyde this year. Like, one week, they're really good. One week, they're really bad. All that being said, was Daniel Jones back this week, last week? [01:58:02] Kenny Thunder: I don't know. [01:58:03] Speaker C: I don't know. [01:58:05] Kenny Thunder: I don't watch a lot of Colts football. [01:58:06] Ronnie Jams: Me neither. But they're. I think they're 3 and 1 right now, I tell you. Yeah, I believe they're 3 and 1. Tyler Warren's pretty good. [01:58:14] Kenny Thunder: Colts are 2 and 2. [01:58:15] Ronnie Jams: 2 and 2. Oh, geez. Why did I make myself go first on the hardest? The whole thing? I'm gonna go Colts in this one. [01:58:26] Kenny Thunder: Daniel Jones did play this week. [01:58:28] Ronnie Jams: Yeah, I'm gonna go Colts in this one. I think they're a better team with him playing, and I just. I don't think Pittsburgh's that good. I mean, I think that's what this comes down to is I don't think they're that good of a team. I think they're going to finish under.500, especially because Mike Tomlin's not there. So. Yeah, I'm gonna. I'm gonna go Colts. Bone, who you got? [01:58:49] The Bone Man: Oh, man, I'm in the middle of my research. I don't have enough time. [01:58:54] Ronnie Jams: We really prepare for this show. [01:58:57] The Bone Man: Yeah. Too many games. I don't even know where they're at. But, gosh, Pittsburgh's at home. [01:59:02] Ronnie Jams: Yep. [01:59:03] The Bone Man: I'll go Pittsburgh. [01:59:05] Ronnie Jams: Okay. [01:59:06] The Bone Man: I don't know enough about the Colts this year. I haven't. Honestly, I've heard nothing about them. [01:59:09] Ronnie Jams: That's fair. Kenny, who you got? [01:59:11] Kenny Thunder: Yeah, Jonathan Taylor's real good. Had a nice game last week. Colts, I think, barely beat Arizona last week, though. And I think Jacoby Brissette there for like, 320 yards against. [01:59:21] Ronnie Jams: Arizona's good. [01:59:22] Speaker C: Pretty. [01:59:22] Ronnie Jams: Pretty good this year so far. [01:59:25] Kenny Thunder: I don't think so. But this is a. This is a tough one, honestly. Like, the Steelers have been hot and cold. We broke the Steelers, by the way, this week. I don't know if you guys saw this. [01:59:36] The Bone Man: Yeah. [01:59:36] Kenny Thunder: The NFL week resumes on Tuesday. Right. When the Browns won on Thursday, Mike Todd Monkin said, see you Tuesday. The Steelers took Tuesday off. Mike McCarthy came to the press conference and said, we're not practicing Tuesday. Our own house isn't in order. We gotta fix our. We'll come back Wednesday. Like, I've never seen that done before. Yes, we gave them an identity crisis. That being said, maybe the extra day of rest help them figure things out. They are at home. I'll go Steelers over Colts. [02:00:07] Ronnie Jams: Cardinals are actually really bad. I don't know who I got them confused with. [02:00:10] Kenny Thunder: I don't know who you get confused with either. They're not very good. [02:00:14] Ronnie Jams: Wait, so you went Steelers? [02:00:15] Kenny Thunder: I'm going. [02:00:15] The Bone Man: It's a game for you, Ronnie. [02:00:17] Ronnie Jams: There's a chance I'm going to be further behind this. And then the Browns try to keep it going in New York as they take on the Jets. Bone, who you got? [02:00:28] The Bone Man: I. I think the Browns keep rolling. I think it's going to be hard to win against her. I think our defense is really good. [02:00:34] Ronnie Jams: Score. [02:00:34] The Bone Man: I said we keep winning. Let's go. 24, 17. [02:00:42] Ronnie Jams: All right, Kenny, who you got? [02:00:44] Kenny Thunder: The Browns have not scored a lot of points this year. [02:00:47] Ronnie Jams: No. [02:00:47] Kenny Thunder: But the jets have scored less, so I'll go. Browns. Browns over Jets. Get the tough win on the road against the team that's just not very good. I do think it'll be closer than most people think, I guess. Not that anyone thinks the Browns are going to blow anybody out, but I do think this will be a competitive game down to the end. I'll go Browns over Jets 24:20. [02:01:11] Ronnie Jams: Okay. And I'm going to go Browns as well. As much as I actually agree with you, I think it's going to be a lot closer than people suspect expect, which is weird because the jets are favored. But I mean I think we might win on like a last second field goal again. So I think it's gonna be a nail biter. I'm Gonna Go Browns 23, Jets 22. [02:01:35] Kenny Thunder: It'll be interesting because I think it's gonna be like the battle of the two worst quarterbacks maybe in the NFL. Like the two worst starting quarterbacks look like it'll be which one of them like makes the mistake and which one can not like and that'll probably be the difference in the game. [02:01:51] Ronnie Jams: Yep. So I guess the takeaway from King of the north this week is I'm either going to be one more game behind or be one game closer. So I really hate that you guys are picking all the teams that I want to pick. So you go Colts. But let me remind everybody. Call Sportscast. I'll take hotline Hotline hot takes on the hot take out. Save yourself then listen up because we [02:04:25] Ronnie Jams: don't care about your feelings. [02:04:27] Kenny Thunder: Number one one beastiality. [02:04:31] Ronnie Jams: Oh boy is I know you like [02:04:34] Speaker C: that [02:04:36] Kenny Thunder: is not illegal in Japan. There is no nationwide specific statute that criminalizes sexual activity with animals. That being said, animal cruelty laws do still apply and if the conduct causes suffering, injury or otherwise constitutes abuse of treatment, probably prosecution is still possible. [02:04:58] Ronnie Jams: Never mind not asking questions. [02:05:02] The Bone Man: The Japanese are people of honor. So this is a situation has never even come up. [02:05:05] Kenny Thunder: It, it is true. It's, it's rare. [02:05:08] The Bone Man: That was my first thought. [02:05:08] Kenny Thunder: It is. It is rare. But just the fact that it's not technically illegal and technically doesn't isn't even covered under like some of their censorship guidelines and they're pretty strict because they are people honor on a lot of other things when it to comes it comes to censorship. So this being kind of the weird outlier is just kind of odd. [02:05:26] Ronnie Jams: Bones read a lot of like the Art of War and stuff so he knows [02:05:31] Kenny Thunder: bone is the art of War. [02:05:33] Speaker C: I don't know. [02:05:33] The Bone Man: I, I, I, I've read one book on Japanese running culture and that's about it. [02:05:37] Ronnie Jams: That and he also practices lots of martial arts. That's how he's such so good at CrossFit. CrossFit? [02:05:42] Kenny Thunder: Tai Chi. [02:05:42] Speaker C: Yeah. [02:05:43] Kenny Thunder: I don't even know if that's a Japanese thing. [02:05:45] Ronnie Jams: You may have been just so racist [02:05:47] Kenny Thunder: maybe mixing things up. [02:05:48] Ronnie Jams: That's not cool. You son of A. I'll post a [02:05:52] Kenny Thunder: sex apology number two. Ferdinand. Ferdinand the Seventh. [02:06:01] The Bone Man: Oh. [02:06:02] Kenny Thunder: Of Spain. [02:06:03] Ronnie Jams: I'm Henry vii. I am sorry. [02:06:06] Kenny Thunder: Not that one. [02:06:06] Ronnie Jams: Oh. [02:06:06] Kenny Thunder: Ferdinand the Seventh. [02:06:08] The Bone Man: Okay. [02:06:09] Kenny Thunder: Suffered from a disease called genital macrosomia. [02:06:15] Ronnie Jams: Macro. To make it big. [02:06:18] Kenny Thunder: Believed to be the result of extensive royal inbreeding. This caused his genitals to grow excessively [02:06:25] Ronnie Jams: large, like a Pringles can chamber. [02:06:28] Kenny Thunder: Physicians described it as enormous, thin near the base like sealing wax. Extremely thick at the end like a fist, and exceptionally long. As long as, quote, a billiard. Q. Relaying that he used [02:06:47] The Bone Man: to. [02:06:47] Kenny Thunder: That he used a specialized pad as to not destroy his queen. It's said to have measured nearly 30 centimeters, which is 12 inches for those counting at home. [02:06:59] Ronnie Jams: Made it. [02:07:00] Kenny Thunder: Which made it difficult for him to have offspring. Ferdinand VII did not succeed in fathering any children until his fourth marriage. Previously, he had been married to his cousin, Maria Antonia of Naples, to his niece, Maria Isabella of Portugal, and to Amalia of Saxony, and again to a. A Neapolitan niece named Maria Christina, who would be the only one to give him children who would survive. The first three wives, although they were much younger than the king, died prematurely, probably due to complications from his enormous hog. Wow. [02:07:37] Ronnie Jams: We. When you described it, you said it was thin at the base and like a fist at the end. I was like, is that a. Are we talking about like a morning star? It's just like a ancient weapon. [02:07:49] Kenny Thunder: What's some kind of weapon that is that. [02:07:52] Ronnie Jams: In case anyone was wondering, a morning star is the one where it's a stick with a ball at the end. So. [02:07:57] The Bone Man: Yeah. [02:07:57] Kenny Thunder: Yeah. [02:07:58] Speaker E: Well. [02:07:58] Kenny Thunder: Yeah. [02:07:59] Speaker C: Yeah. [02:08:00] Kenny Thunder: Very oddly shaped and very big. [02:08:02] Ronnie Jams: It reminds. You know what else reminds me of a knight's tale. His things have. The fist on the end is his lances. The. The bad guy. [02:08:08] Kenny Thunder: A blunted lance. [02:08:09] Ronnie Jams: What's his name? The bad guy? [02:08:11] Kenny Thunder: Count Adamar. [02:08:12] Ronnie Jams: Adamar. Yeah. Yeah, go on. [02:08:16] Kenny Thunder: But on French soil. [02:08:18] Ronnie Jams: But English legs are French soil. Unstable on French soil. [02:08:23] Kenny Thunder: Yeah. Number three. Bedbugs. Bedbugs mate. [02:08:27] Ronnie Jams: I already am feeling the creepy crawlies. I don't like this. [02:08:30] Kenny Thunder: Bedbugs mate. Through a harsh and unusual process called traumatic insemination. The male uses a sharp dagger like or needle like organ to pierce the female's abdominal wall. He injects the sperm directly into her body cavity. A lot like bone. Rather than using her reproductive tract, the sperm travel through her hemolymph, which is a blood like fluid, to reach her ovaries and fertilize the egg. Eggs. Because the piercing causes an open Wound. Of course it does. Females have actually evolved a specialized protective organ on their abdomen called the spermalage. The organ catches the sperm and reduces physical damage and infection. Female bedbugs adjust their immune systems after feeding to prepare for the physical trauma and lower the risk of infection. Males, on the other hand, look. Look for a mate. Right after the bugs feed on a host, when they are full of blood, engorged, because males will basically mount any bloated bug, they sometimes accidentally attack other males. And male bugs of course lack that protective spermalodge. So die male males will release a. An alarm pheromone to signal to the opposite sex and stop them from trying to made with them in order to survive because otherwise they would just pierce their. [02:09:59] Ronnie Jams: What I gained out of all this is I feel bad for Mrs. [02:10:01] Kenny Thunder: Bone because that's exactly what Bone does. Just right through the abdomen. [02:10:07] Speaker C: Ouch. [02:10:08] Ronnie Jams: What a saint. Cuz he's got several kids. By several, I mean a couple, but you know. [02:10:15] Speaker C: Wow. [02:10:16] Ronnie Jams: Yeah, what a. What a champ she is. [02:10:18] Kenny Thunder: We went to some weird places there, but I. I felt like you needed to know those things. Facts for days, my friends. [02:10:26] Ronnie Jams: That was facts for days. Bone, does that do anything for you? [02:10:29] The Bone Man: Yep. Yeah. It's late, so I am going to bed. And I will be thinking about these facts as I sleep. [02:10:37] Ronnie Jams: So you're gonna have some weird dreams, man. [02:10:39] The Bone Man: Yeah. Yeah, it's gonna be weird. So bon appetit. [02:10:42] Kenny Thunder: I'm gonna traumatically inseminate Bone. [02:10:45] Speaker C: Don't do that. [02:10:46] Ronnie Jams: You mistook him for the opposite sex. [02:10:49] Kenny Thunder: Don't just be a part of the problem. Be the whole damn problem. [02:10:54] Ronnie Jams: And only you can prevent river fires. Burning river Sports gas. Burning river.
