[00:01:11] Speaker B: It'S time Time for the burning river sportscast November 21, 2024298 days, 2 presidencies that's right, we're closing in on a full calendar year since the Cleveland Browns last won a regular season football game. This organization may be taking the whole caller 9 to 5. Working Man's Midwest mentality a little too close to heart as it seems this has become a clock in, clock out, shift work enterprise.
Makes sense now that Miles threw a small fit in the offseason to pull in every spare set. Because that's what Cleveland football has really become. A job. We do the same when it comes to time for our annual reviews or new contracts. You put in the hours you should capitalize. Let me be clear, this isn't even necessarily an indictment on the players. Believe me, Miles is earning every penny right now. There's plenty of guys giving effort. This organization isn't one where winning football games is a priority. And are we really surprised? This franchise wasn't purchased by a Clevelander, a lifelong fan, a guy who made his living loving football? No, it was purchased by a billionaire bored by simply being a master of the universe and needing a new toy. Filled the front office with warden educated business savvy types, lawyers, number crunchers and analytics buffoons. The Cleveland Browns are a business run like a business from the top down. They sell football. They don't play it. They don't love it, they don't live for it. A mere product in a commercial world where the only thing that matters is dollars and cents. The Cleveland Browns haven't won a lot of football games, but if they went up for sale tomorrow, I'm sure they would sell for a hefty profit compared to what Jimmy paid for them when he bought the team. All this to say, is it really any wonder why there's no football being played in Cleveland? It's a commodity, nothing more. We'll break it all down for you next on the Burning River Sportscast fourth quarter.
[00:03:01] Speaker A: I think the other team's drinking water right now.
[00:03:04] Speaker B: Fourth quarter.
[00:03:09] Speaker C: They must not be worried about microplastics.
[00:03:11] Speaker A: I thought we. That the defense could carry us.
[00:03:14] Speaker B: That's the problem. You thought?
[00:03:15] Speaker A: Oh, yeah. That's the problem with most Browns fans is we think every once in a while.
[00:03:18] Speaker C: Too much thinking.
[00:03:20] Speaker B: Is Arch Manning.
[00:03:21] Speaker A: No.
[00:03:21] Speaker B: A disappointment?
[00:03:23] Speaker A: Absolutely. Yeah. Yeah.
[00:03:25] Speaker B: Is he letting down the family crest?
[00:03:27] Speaker A: Yeah. I mean, the only. The only defense for it is he's Cooper's kid, so what'd you expect?
[00:03:34] Speaker B: We're cooperating.
[00:03:37] Speaker C: I noticed it from over here.
[00:03:38] Speaker A: You guys were so aroused.
[00:03:41] Speaker B: Holy Schmidt. He made all his kicks.
[00:03:44] Speaker A: I mean, this shit is embarrassing. We gotta. We gotta be better on defense. We've gotta be better as a team.
Couldn't agree more.
[00:03:52] Speaker B: Yeah.
Not cake farts. Don't Google that one. Cake pop twist his dick.
Cramming up your cram hole, Leflore.
[00:04:01] Speaker A: Yes.
[00:04:02] Speaker B: Good luck losing with these losers, LaFleur.
[00:04:06] Speaker A: This offense from offensive guru Kevin Stefanski that is averaging 13 points per game over the last eight games has been ass.
[00:04:13] Speaker B: South Dakota State Jackrabbit.
We are going to talk about a large human.
You cool.
Thank you.
Grover and Oscar were just banging meat at the same time with the same woman.
[00:04:29] Speaker A: Oh, no.
[00:04:31] Speaker B: Leading us to the conclusion that we're not really sure who the dad.

Geez.
Coffee pot.
[00:05:06] Speaker B: Your legs.
[00:05:07] Speaker C: Lamp.
[00:05:10] Speaker A: Oh, a bottom of the top. That's a good one.
[00:05:12] Speaker B: Back to red hot.

[00:05:53] Speaker B: Quarterback T shirt.
[00:05:54] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah. Quarterback room T shirt. One of them's not here anymore.
[00:05:56] Speaker B: He gone.
[00:05:57] Speaker A: Today on the show, this is what you can look forward to. We got hot takes from the hot take hotline. We announced a new giveaway that we're kicking off this week.
Browns news so far this week. More messages from macho fan and brown Strat division roundup and King of the north with John Hughes. An interview with another brownsbackers chapter this week, the Fox Valley Browns backers and of course, the week three preview for the game against the Packers. It's going to get ugly, but stay here for it.
But guys, you know what it feels like watching the Browns?
[00:06:29] Speaker B: What? Bad?
[00:06:29] Speaker A: I'll tell you. I need you to back me up and get into this as we go, okay? Cut my life into pieces. This is my last suffocation.
[00:06:38] Speaker B: No breathing.
[00:06:39] Speaker A: Don't give a if it's another loser season. That's what it's like. That's was terrible. It's awful. It's awful.
[00:06:46] Speaker B: That was. That was one of the worst songs we ever sang.
[00:06:48] Speaker C: I didn't. I didn't say the F word.
[00:06:50] Speaker A: I did. I did. Let's get. Let's get things started with the Burning River News story of the week.
All right. This week's Burning River News story of the week. A local story.
Yeah, that's right. Local news.
[00:07:12] Speaker B: Burning River.
[00:07:13] Speaker A: The Burning river sportscast and tapa media in general is located. I don't know if anybody knows this in Akron, Ohio, Northeast Ohio.
[00:07:21] Speaker B: We.
[00:07:21] Speaker A: We.
[00:07:21] Speaker B: Good night, Akan.
[00:07:22] Speaker A: Yeah, exactly. That's where it comes from. That's where it comes from. And a local Summit county school has banned the popular Stanley Cups due to safety concerns.
[00:07:31] Speaker B: They hate hockey.
[00:07:33] Speaker A: That's what I thought you were talking about when you first.
I was like, why would they ban. Nobody even likes hockey.
[00:07:38] Speaker B: They're mad at boot hockey.
[00:07:39] Speaker A: Yeah. Any.
Kenny Thunder brought this story to my attention, so I'm gonna let him tell it to you.
[00:07:43] Speaker B: I just thought it was interesting.
I'm not sure what this says about schools today in general, but apparently large opaque metal cups such as the popular Stanley Yeti and Walla tumblers have been banned.
[00:07:57] Speaker A: I've never. That's how I'm not a young person because I don't even. I've never heard of that last one that you said.
[00:08:03] Speaker B: Yeah. Apparently this is a proactive safety measure. Apparently there was an incident last year where a teacher was injured during a fight when a metal. Metal water BO was used as a weapon.
Also creates a significant delay in security screenings as officers must manually check bottles for prohibited items, including cell phones, headphones, and other electronics that are a general distraction from learning. And students now have to drink water out of clear plastic or transparent drinking containers. The ban, however, does not apply to items like thermoses used for soup.
[00:08:39] Speaker A: So if I'm getting into a fight.
[00:08:41] Speaker C: Sounds like a rough school.
[00:08:43] Speaker B: Yeah, I guess.
[00:08:44] Speaker A: A couple. A couple things I noticed here. One, I. I know that they obviously are out there.
I've never had a metal detector at my school, so.
[00:08:53] Speaker B: Different world that we grew up in, that's for sure.
[00:08:55] Speaker A: Yeah. So that was interesting to me, first of all. But second of all, the more interesting thing.
Who hits with a metal water bottle?
[00:09:04] Speaker B: Who uses.
[00:09:05] Speaker A: Who uses a Stanley Cup? Seriously, Honestly, who. Who uses a Stanley Cup?
[00:09:09] Speaker B: Throws.
[00:09:10] Speaker A: Yeah. I. I just don't understand.
[00:09:11] Speaker C: Like, they started connecting the chairs to the desk so you can't throw the whole thing because I just think they're not strong enough.
[00:09:17] Speaker A: Oh, that's what it was. I don't know what Bun's even talking about.
[00:09:20] Speaker B: They were throwing desks.
[00:09:21] Speaker C: Well, I was gonna say you throw a chair instead of a Stanley cup, but the chair is connected to the desk. You're not going to throw the whole thing.
[00:09:26] Speaker B: It's true. You'd have to be pretty strong second fiddle.
[00:09:28] Speaker C: Stanley Cup.
[00:09:30] Speaker B: I guess.
[00:09:30] Speaker A: So if our. Our high school friend Biggins went to that school, he could throw a whole desk.
[00:09:34] Speaker B: I just like, what's wrong? What is wrong with kids today? Like, who, to your point, who throws a cup? Like, I don't. Why would you ever think to use.
[00:09:43] Speaker A: Like, at no point does this cross your. But like, even. Even in my most, like, you know, like, angry moments when I'm like, I really want to hit somebody or do. Like, it doesn't cross my mind that I'm gonna pick up this heavy metal object that could seriously, like, honestly, like, unalive somebody. Like, I'm not picking that up and throwing it at someone.
[00:10:01] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:10:02] Speaker A: I just don't understand, like, is there no. Is there literally no regard for human life?
[00:10:06] Speaker B: Apparently, though, you still can throw your.
[00:10:07] Speaker A: Soup if you have soup. Yeah.
[00:10:09] Speaker B: What was that? The Cavs locker room. Didn't. Somebody didn't Somebody throw their soup at J.R. smith or something?
[00:10:14] Speaker C: Maybe you guys remember, like, back in school when carrying water bottles wasn't really a thing.
[00:10:19] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:10:20] Speaker C: But now it's like a standard.
[00:10:22] Speaker B: We didn't really drink water.
[00:10:23] Speaker A: Yeah.
That must be what's wrong with our generation.
[00:10:26] Speaker B: We came from a generation where if you got hot and tired of football practice, water was withheld as a punishment.
[00:10:32] Speaker A: That's. That is true. That actually happened.
[00:10:34] Speaker B: Coach, I need water.
Fight through it. Fourth quarter.
[00:10:39] Speaker A: I think the team's drinking water right now.
[00:10:42] Speaker B: Fourth quarter.
[00:10:43] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:10:43] Speaker B: Push through.
[00:10:44] Speaker A: That's. That's what we. Yeah.
[00:10:45] Speaker B: More win sprints.
[00:10:47] Speaker A: Are you going to be begging me.
[00:10:48] Speaker B: For water at the end of the game when you're tired?
[00:10:50] Speaker A: Little did they know the other team had a performance advantage because they were hydrated.
[00:10:54] Speaker B: Hydrated.
[00:10:55] Speaker A: Yeah.
Yeah.
[00:10:57] Speaker C: I would also like to add this administration of this school is also. They must not be worried about microplastics, you know? So true.
[00:11:04] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:11:04] Speaker C: You don't. You don't make a clear water bottle.
[00:11:06] Speaker A: That's part of the reason for the. The stainless steel cups is. Is no microplastics. So I guess bad job. If I. If I'm a kid that goes to that school and I get cancer, I am probably suing the school at this point.
[00:11:17] Speaker B: That'll be when we're old and decrepit. The class action lawsuit. Were you forced to drink out of a plastic water bottle in middle school? Through adolescence in Summit? You may have a claim.
[00:11:28] Speaker A: That's probably gonna be it. But. Yeah, just. Just a crazy story because, like, this whole thing was.
[00:11:34] Speaker B: It's just wild. I mean, this is where we're at in the world that we have to ban cups now.
[00:11:38] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:11:38] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:11:39] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:11:40] Speaker B: But.
[00:11:40] Speaker A: Yeah, I guess that's it for story of the week.
Before we get to the Browns, let me remind you to call the Burninger Sportscast.
Don't forget to call and leave your hot takes on the hot take hotline. We got a new number.
You should know it by now. If you don't know it by now, I'm really mad at you.
[00:11:55] Speaker B: Yeah, we're really mad. We're going to punch you in the.
[00:11:57] Speaker A: Throat before we give them the number. Well, we'll give them the number and then we'll get into our hot ticks, because I think we got a couple this week. The number to call is 3302-2780-8133-0227-808-1330-222780-81330, 2227-813302-27881. And now before wrap up, you in the Jimmies. In the Jimmies. Let's. Let's listen to some of our hot takes for this week.
[00:12:20] Speaker B: Oh, boy. We got some hot takes on the hot take hotline.
Yo, yo, yo.
This is Bobby D from the Brown Backers of North Jersey. I got Timmy. Yep, yep. And we got a new. We got a newcomer, Gotti G. All right. Yeah.
So I don't even know what to say. Like, that was really. That was. That was really bad. It was a crap show. It was really, really bad.
I think my opinion.
Just fuck it. Fuck Flacco. Just get.
Sorry, just get rid of them.
Just bring in Dale and Gabriel. Let's see what we got at this point. Just see what we got.
What's your opinion, Timmy and Scotty? Timmy, I think that we have to get rid of. Flacco has that lead. Can't play the full game. He's 40 years old.
They said on the broadcast that he's not what he used to be. And it's just. You have to bring in someone new. And I don't want to be embarrassed anymore.
I don't know what the deal was, but you know you want to. We wanted a good run game. I don't know if it was the offensive line or what was doing at the beginning, but I think you kind of start beating Judgins more. I also think that Ford is not.
[00:13:40] Speaker A: Going to be the answer.
[00:13:41] Speaker B: Oh, yeah, Ford is not the answer. Keep feeding Judge.
All right, that's it from the Brownsburg Jersey.
I don't know if KDOL called in on his own because he left angrily. He left angrily in his own car.
So we had to get a ride from Scott. Yeah.
But we're going to continue on tonight. Don't worry. Continue on drinking. Yeah.
Let's go.
[00:14:08] Speaker A: All right, so lots unpack there. The. A lot to unpack. Brownsbackers of North Jersey never disappoint.
[00:14:16] Speaker B: Never.
[00:14:16] Speaker A: First of all, Kevin, bad job out of you Just left everybody. You just. You said, I hate the Browns, I'm leaving.
[00:14:21] Speaker B: It's such a Kevin move.
[00:14:22] Speaker A: It was freaking Kevin Classic. Kevin Classic.
Yeah.
So the bad job out of you, Kevin.
Kevin.
Bobby D. Listen, first of all, I love that Bobby D. Calls it Angry Bobby calls in and says, yo, yo, yo, yo, Listen, if you guys saw Angry Bobby, that's the opposite of what you would expect Angry Bobby to say, like he's your. Your prototypical and I love you, Bobby, but he's your prototypical, like, you know, 50 some year old dad. Dad. That's bald.
Like, he can't sound like Texas of hair.
Like he just doesn't look like a guy that's gonna call it and say, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo.
[00:15:04] Speaker B: I like how with the North Jersey Brownsbaggers roast them.
I'll take that one. I think just start shredding them.
[00:15:12] Speaker A: I think I roasted Angry Bobby last week, too. He's going to be like, what the hell is happening? I'm definitely. I'm not calling in anymore. I'm sorry, Angry Bobby. This is the last time. But.
Oh, yeah, I mean, they, they basically said everything that, that we also said in the live show after Sunday's game was. Was Joe Flacco's on old. He shouldn't be playing anymore.
You don't gain anything by by playing him the rest of the season. So let the rookies play. Give Quin Sean Judkins more carries. And we've been saying for three years now to get rid of Jerome Ford.
[00:15:42] Speaker B: So I'm shocked because I've been on this train all off season and all during the preseason and I was told, you know, the Browns might win the super bowl this year and it would be totally worth having Joe Blacko play.
[00:15:55] Speaker A: It would be worth it.
[00:15:56] Speaker B: Instead of. Instead of.
[00:15:57] Speaker A: Would it have been worth it?
[00:15:59] Speaker B: Either one or both of these rookies ready and developing them and see if you have anything there.
I am shocked that it's taken two weeks for this fan base to about face and they are ready to just throw Joe on the scrap heap and move forward with the rookies. I'm for it. I'm just shocked that was that fickle because we went from Joni's to play most of the season because we could be a playoff team to we're never winning another game. Let's see what we have in the rookies.
[00:16:26] Speaker A: Yeah. I mean, that's how long it took me because I just. I thought we. That the defense could carry.
[00:16:33] Speaker B: That's the problem. You thought?
[00:16:35] Speaker A: Oh, yeah. That's the problem with most Browns fans. We think every once in a while too much thinking. And if you try and think, you're definitely not out thinking Kevin Stefanski and Andrew Barry.
[00:16:42] Speaker B: So too much thinking will get you into trouble.
[00:16:45] Speaker A: Yeah, whoever. I didn't catch all the names on there, but the. To the person that said, I'm tired of being disappointed.
[00:16:50] Speaker B: You're new here. Aren't.
[00:16:51] Speaker A: Scotty G. Scotty G. You're new. You must be new.
[00:16:54] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:16:54] Speaker A: Because if you're tired of getting disappointed, you need to find another team right now because Nobody disappointed.
This is just the beginning.
[00:17:02] Speaker B: This is the tip of the iceberg. Yeah, the brown berg.
[00:17:06] Speaker A: Was that. Was that everything in there? Did we unpack the whole thing?
I. Bobby D. Once again, angry Bobby, we love you. Keep calling in. I'm sorry. I keep. I keep just on you.
[00:17:17] Speaker B: Let's listen to another one.
[00:17:18] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:17:20] Speaker B: Time, guys.
Flacco look disinterested today. He looks.
Ah, don't use the word lazy.
[00:17:29] Speaker A: Use the word disinterested this time.
[00:17:32] Speaker B: It's. It's still in shame and go from there.
[00:17:36] Speaker A: And that means we'll see Shador, and that means we might see Deshaun, but God dang it down, he didn't look.
He looked so disinterested today.
[00:17:47] Speaker B: It was. It was pitiful. It's time. Make the change and we'll be at home next week.
Make it happen.
[00:17:56] Speaker A: First of all, in case anyone doesn't see what I'm doing here, I am now rewriting our sign to. It's been zero days since we've mentioned DW4.
[00:18:05] Speaker B: You came out not take hotline.
[00:18:07] Speaker A: It wasn't even us.
But since he did, I'll just go ahead and say, yeah, I hope to God we don't see Deshaun Watson this year.
I. I don't disagree with the take. It might happen at the rate we're going.
[00:18:18] Speaker B: I like that they pulled the moniker. It's time. Yeah.
[00:18:21] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[00:18:22] Speaker B: That was good.
Listen, it is time for the Burning river sportscast.
[00:18:25] Speaker A: It's always time for the burning of a Sportscat. If you're not listening, you should.
[00:18:28] Speaker B: Wrong.
[00:18:29] Speaker A: Yeah. So was that our friend Cliff Coulson?
[00:18:31] Speaker B: I believe it was.
[00:18:32] Speaker A: I believe that was Cliff. So, once again, Cliff, thanks for. Thanks for calling in.
Yeah, I mean, I will disagree with you a little bit. I don't think Joe Flacco looked disinterested. I think he just looked old.
I think he looked like, ow. This really hurts. Getting killed everywhere.
[00:18:45] Speaker B: I. I actually agree with Cliff. I. I thought early in the game especially, it looked like there was a disconnect. Like, for whatever reason, I know it was the, you know, Ravens 30th anniversary and all this, and.
[00:18:56] Speaker A: Do you not want to beat his.
[00:18:57] Speaker B: Former Browns and just the emotion of the game, I don't know what it was, but Joe looked off from the very start of the game. He air mailed a couple of those throws to the sideline and, like, they weren't even close. Well, I guess we're not even close.
[00:19:10] Speaker A: My only defense there is. I didn't catch the very Beginning of the game, like on, like. I didn't catch it live. I. I was watching gamecast and then I joined the actual live broadcast after, like, midway through the first quarter, maybe towards the end of the first quarter. So I didn't catch the beginning of it. But from what I saw, he didn't look disinterested. I think he just looked old and tired.
[00:19:28] Speaker B: He just looked disconnected from. From the offense. I mean, he just. It was as bad as I've seen Joe Flacco look.
[00:19:34] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:19:34] Speaker B: Especially early on.
[00:19:35] Speaker A: And maybe the moment was too big for him just because it was. I mean, that's where he spent most of his career. And there was.
[00:19:40] Speaker B: Yeah, I don't know if there was an emotional component there or something that was driving at it, but he just. He looked bad and it didn't really recover for most of the game. The game was not. He didn't play very well through one.
[00:19:50] Speaker A: Of the worst interceptions I ever saw. But again, that wasn't his fault. We won't go there.
[00:19:53] Speaker B: I mean, it was his fault, but it was also.
[00:19:55] Speaker A: Stevenski. That play should have never happened is what I'm. What I'm saying. It was his fault, but the play should have never happened.
The rest of that was just, you know, go to the rookies, which we've already said. We've. We've.
I think everybody.
[00:20:07] Speaker B: I'll reiterate, I'm shocked. It's taken two weeks.
[00:20:10] Speaker A: I don't know why you're shocked.
[00:20:11] Speaker B: And everybody is ready to jump ship after the phone.
[00:20:15] Speaker A: We didn't ask you, are you there?
[00:20:18] Speaker C: I didn't think so.
[00:20:19] Speaker A: But now you're ready.
[00:20:20] Speaker C: Why not?
[00:20:22] Speaker A: Phone's there. Everyone's there.
[00:20:23] Speaker C: Really is. Why not? Dan, to Kenny's point, like, it might as well see what we got because we're drafting a new QB at the end of the season.
[00:20:30] Speaker B: And let me tell you what, next year's draft. Let me tell you what, have you looked at these, this, this quarterback, heavy draft class. Have you seen some of these guys? Because I'm not impressed.
[00:20:40] Speaker A: Well, yeah, I mean, Arch Manning, there's the obvious name to go to, and he looks like hot garbage.
[00:20:44] Speaker B: I have not seen one that I'm like, that's the guy. Can't miss with him.
[00:20:48] Speaker A: No, I mean, I think if anything, he's just bringing the Manning name down at this point. Right.
[00:20:52] Speaker B: So, I mean, I liked what I saw from. From both Dylan Gabriel and Shador Sanders in the preseason. The little we got to see of them.
I'm on the board of, like, I would. Let's see.
[00:21:02] Speaker C: Let's build around them instead with our. With our defense. If they come in with the spark, that could be. That could be fun.
[00:21:07] Speaker B: Well, and that's what I say. The. The only chance this brownsteam does have to be good this year is accidentally if one of these guys is the truth and comes in and just has a lights out campaign.
But barring that, you can at least develop and see what you have there.
[00:21:27] Speaker A: Yeah, sorry, I was. I was distracted. Baker Mayfield just went down with an injury, but then popped back up and started barking at a dvd.
[00:21:34] Speaker C: That's what he does.
[00:21:35] Speaker B: He's a tough guy.
[00:21:36] Speaker A: He was hurt for a second, and then somebody said something mean to him and he said, you.
[00:21:40] Speaker B: It does hurt when you get hit by a big guy.
[00:21:42] Speaker A: Yeah, he got. It was real awkward, too, the way he thought. But anyway. Yeah. And then this guy talks shit and then he got up. But anyways.
Yeah. I mean, yeah, I hope one of the rookies is good because at this point, we need to build around them. We need all these draft picks to build a team like we're. We have so many holes in this team.
[00:22:01] Speaker B: We need to build a team to that end. Is Arch Manning.
[00:22:04] Speaker A: No.
[00:22:04] Speaker B: A disappointment?
[00:22:06] Speaker A: Absolutely. Yeah. Yeah.
[00:22:08] Speaker B: Is he letting down the family crest?
[00:22:10] Speaker A: Yeah. I mean, the only. The only defense for it is he's Cooper's kid. So what do you expect?
[00:22:17] Speaker B: Work Uber?
[00:22:19] Speaker A: I mean, that's his whole life. You think.
[00:22:23] Speaker B: He'S on Bobby D?
[00:22:26] Speaker A: It's what I do.
[00:22:28] Speaker C: I mean, he sat for two years and I don't know, we'd hope a little bit more for him after.
[00:22:34] Speaker A: Yeah, I agree. That's another hot take in the hot take hotline. But anyways, remember, call into the hot take outline. We want hot takes. We want hot take. Hot takes.
[00:22:41] Speaker B: We want hot takes.
[00:22:42] Speaker A: We want hot takes. 3302-2780-8133-0227-808-1330-222780-81330, 2227-8133-0227-8081. Call now. Operators are not standing by. We'll put your take on air and we will talk about it.
[00:22:55] Speaker B: And then Ronnie Jams will roast you.
[00:22:58] Speaker A: Yeah, I probably will. It's what I do.
[00:23:01] Speaker B: You're bald.
[00:23:02] Speaker A: You're just like.
Just like Maryland. Crab cakes and football. That's what they do.
[00:23:07] Speaker B: Crab cakes and football. That's what Maryland does.
[00:23:09] Speaker A: Yeah, but speaking of hot takes, it's time for another edition of Dig it with the macho.
[00:23:18] Speaker B: Yeah. Someday comes the pickers. Let me tell you something. I got a little bit of a hunger for grilled cheese sandwiches, liquor defects, has a little bit of hunger for that quarterback love of yours. And when you're not gonna come in, ain't gonna be another walk in the park. None on our watch, none on our turf. So come on in and get prepared for the dog pound. Cause we're bringing all the noise, we're bringing all the pain that you are gonna suffer all the way back to Green Bay. So come on dog pound, let's bring the energy.
Oh yeah.
[00:23:55] Speaker A: Let's go Brains.
Another banger from macho fan man.
Listen, this is what I'll say about these videos that come into our show every week. They're fantastic. I love them.
But they come in and these guys are so positive. Both the macho fans, they're super fans and Bronstronaut, they're so positive. They think.
And then we start our show and goes off the rails.
[00:24:21] Speaker B: They pump you up.
[00:24:22] Speaker C: I love hearing from them. We need that.
[00:24:23] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah.
[00:24:24] Speaker B: It's the small's.
[00:24:25] Speaker A: Like, I don't know why I joined this show. You guys just talk about the brown.
[00:24:28] Speaker B: Tiny modicum of positivity that comes out of the Burning river sports.
[00:24:31] Speaker A: This is what I'll say. At least we're starting our show off with some positivity this week.
And by that I mean we're gonna talk about the Burning River Sportscast dog of the week.
[00:24:42] Speaker B: You gotta play tough people in the National Football League. You gotta be ready and we gotta be the dogs that we are every.
[00:24:49] Speaker D: Time we step on there on Sunday.
[00:24:50] Speaker B: And be ready to attack and don't stop until we're in that locker room.
[00:24:59] Speaker A: Alright, so we leave it up to our listeners and followers to determine the Burning River Sportscast dog of the week. Each week on our live shows on Sunday night, we each nominate a dog of the week candidate. From there, we turn it over to all of you on our socials to vote and make the final decision. This week's nominees. Kenny Holy Schmidt.
[00:25:14] Speaker B: He made all his kicks.
[00:25:15] Speaker A: Andre Schmidt. Bone Quinn.
[00:25:19] Speaker C: Sean Jenkins. We got to see him. You know, he had what at 6 yards per carry?
[00:25:22] Speaker A: So look, he looked 6.1 to be exact. And then I once again nominated Miles Garrett.
Monster game again for Miles Garrett. I've never seen Miles Garrett start like this in a season. He usually kind of starts slow and then he picks it up later.
[00:25:36] Speaker B: If you just looked at Miles Garret box score, you'd be like, this team probably wants some games.
[00:25:39] Speaker A: We're probably 2 0. Yeah, we're not after the fan vote that was conducted on our socials today. This week's Burning River Sportscast dog of the week is Miles Garrett.
Yeah.
[00:25:52] Speaker B: Back to back on him.
[00:25:53] Speaker A: Yeah, no surprise there. Yeah, he's become the new Nick Chub. He just wins dog of the week every week.
Yeah.
[00:26:00] Speaker B: Problem with a fan vote. It should have been Schmidt.
[00:26:03] Speaker A: Agree to disagree. Listen, Miles Garrett, five total tackles, two solo tackles, two tackles for loss, two QB hits, and one and a half sacks in this one.
Listen, through two games, Miles Garrett has three and a half sacks. And you know, I don't want to be that guy, but if we're going to get into the T.J. watt versus Miles Garrett tracker here.
Miles Garrett, three and a half sacks through two games, T.J. watt.
[00:26:25] Speaker B: We're going to make that a placard.
The tracker of sackers. The sacker tracker.
[00:26:30] Speaker A: The sacker tracker.
But yeah, so three and a half to Miles, zero to TJ Watt spot.
[00:26:37] Speaker B: It's too bad they aren't linebackers, because then it could be the linebacker, sacker tracker.
[00:26:41] Speaker A: Oh, man, now you're getting wild. Wicked wild.
But yeah, one more thing before we get to all of the depressing stuff that is the Cleveland Browns. Kenny. Let's give something away.
[00:26:52] Speaker B: Let's do it.
[00:26:53] Speaker A: All right.
[00:26:53] Speaker B: What are we doing?
[00:26:54] Speaker A: What are we giving away this time? I gotta bring the. Bring this out. I gotta be careful here. I don't want to break anything.
[00:27:00] Speaker B: Don't break it. I don't know. If everybody break it. You bought it.
[00:27:02] Speaker C: Oh, that's cool.
[00:27:03] Speaker A: Yeah. So the lights are playing tricks on you here. If you're watching the video, there's a.
[00:27:07] Speaker B: Lot of lights in our studio, but.
[00:27:08] Speaker A: Basically what we've got is we've got an autographed Miles Garrett game day poster.
So this is.
This. Hang on a second. Let me put this down. I'm gonna break it.
[00:27:18] Speaker B: Don't break it.
[00:27:21] Speaker A: It's a game day poster from the Browns vs. The Seahawks, October 13th of what year? Who knows?
[00:27:31] Speaker B: But it is signed by Miles Garrett.
[00:27:33] Speaker A: But it's signed by Miles Garrett is the most thing your.
[00:27:36] Speaker B: Your shirt, your mid drift came up there as you were moving around. It was a little sexual.
[00:27:39] Speaker A: Did only you saw it or no?
[00:27:41] Speaker B: I think I just mean probably.
[00:27:42] Speaker C: I noticed it from over here.
[00:27:43] Speaker A: You guys were so aroused, but yeah. So second year in a row or second year? Second.
Second giveaway this season already.
[00:27:51] Speaker B: We're giving everything away.
[00:27:52] Speaker A: Yeah. This Browns, like I said, in partnership with prime time sports and framing. It's an autograph. Miles Garrett game day Post.
[00:27:59] Speaker B: You name it, they frame it.
[00:28:01] Speaker A: I wasn't there yet.

[00:28:47] Speaker B: We hope you win.
[00:28:48] Speaker A: We hope you win.
[00:28:49] Speaker B: And if not, we'll kick you in the jimmies.
[00:28:50] Speaker A: Give me a second. Let me put this back.
[00:28:52] Speaker B: This.
[00:28:53] Speaker A: Go. This goes back here.
[00:28:54] Speaker B: I'm just waiting to see that mid drift again.
[00:28:55] Speaker A: You got to stop it. Tired of being sexualized on this show.
[00:29:00] Speaker B: James is always being objectified. Yeah, this is ridiculous.
[00:29:04] Speaker A: But anyways, in other Browns news.
All right, so in other Browns news this week, Miles Garrett after the game this week said, and I quote, I mean, this is embarrassing. We gotta, we gotta be better on defense. We've got to be better as a team.
Couldn't agree more.
[00:29:25] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:29:25] Speaker A: Thanks. Thank you, captain.
Listen, we. I actually liked that he came out and said this. The thing that I didn't like was he stopped short.
Like you're.
[00:29:34] Speaker B: You had to stop. Sure. What's he gonna do?
[00:29:37] Speaker A: You call out the offense because everybody knows it. And at this point, you've earned the right as a leader on that team. Like you're, you've been a captain for how many years of this team.
Like you can come out and say, the offense isn't doing us any favors. We need them to start pulling their weight around here.
[00:29:51] Speaker B: I think that's something you say in a players only meeting.
I don't think you can publicly come.
[00:29:55] Speaker A: Out and that's why you're not the captain of NFL football team.
But no, I just, I just. I mean, I mean, I just think that he's earned that at this point where it's not personal. It's just, it's, it's. Look, the defense is playing really well right now because they are. And we'll get to that soon. Well, I'LL tell you just how well they're playing. And the offense is completely dragging them down.
[00:30:17] Speaker B: To play devil's advocate.
Okay, I know that it's, there's legitimate reasons why, but the defense gave up 41 points.
[00:30:30] Speaker A: They were only credited with giving up, I think, 17.
[00:30:33] Speaker B: So scoreboard said 41.
I think it's hard for anyone to say we're pulling our weight.
You guys got to pull yours. When that scoreboard was lopsided both ways, the offense didn't score enough points, the defense gave up too many.
Neither. Neither way went the Browns in the Browns favor.
[00:30:55] Speaker A: I mean, that's fair. But when the offense is bad as it is, you can't do anything. It doesn't matter how, how well you rush the rush the passer. It doesn't matter that you held Derek Henry to 23 yards.
Doesn't matter because the offense sucks.
[00:31:09] Speaker B: It's also early in the season.
[00:31:11] Speaker A: Just shut your mouth. I don't want to hear it out of you.
[00:31:12] Speaker B: There's, there's probably going to be games where the Browns offense does score 30 points and they still win.
[00:31:19] Speaker A: When's the last time we scored 30 points?
[00:31:22] Speaker B: I can tell you when it was against Denver last year.
[00:31:26] Speaker A: It's been a long time anyways.
Yeah, I just, I, I like that he came out and said something. I wish he would have actually taken a little bit further. But I, I, I do understand the flip side of that and him trying to not roll over on anybody yet.
So. I get it.
[00:31:44] Speaker B: Yeah. I mean, I think it's, it is still early in the season. I mean, look, we know the season's over, but the players in the locker room have to still think like there's something to play for.
[00:31:52] Speaker A: I think my point is just that he's earned the right to be able to speak his mind whenever he wants.
[00:31:57] Speaker B: Whatever he wants, because he's Miles Garrett and he, I mean, you said at.
[00:32:01] Speaker A: The beginning of this year, I don't.
[00:32:03] Speaker B: Blame him for anything.
[00:32:03] Speaker A: You said two weeks ago, you said he's not. I don't blame him for anything.
Bones getting happy hands over there.
[00:32:11] Speaker C: I hit a button.
[00:32:11] Speaker A: You said, I don't blame him for anything. And he can do whatever he wants. He can speed all he wants. He can say whatever he wants, but.
[00:32:17] Speaker B: Matter wreck all the Porsches.
[00:32:18] Speaker A: So I'm going back to that December 2nd.
[00:32:21] Speaker B: That's the last time the Browns scored 32 points and gave up 41 to the Denver Broncos.
[00:32:26] Speaker A: Feels bad.
Next up here, real quick, Shador, when asked about the report that came out From Ian. Was it Ian Rapport that said it before the game? Yeah, they said that the Ravens were going to take him in the draft, and he made it known to the Ravens front office that he did not want to back up Lamar Jackson. So we got a couple things done Pack here. But first of all, Shador's quote to Mary Kay was when she asked him about, he said, I. I don't remember. I'm just focused on the now. Anything in the past is the past.
Which is kind of a funny that you don't remember telling them that you didn't want to back up Lamar Jackson. But that takes me to my second point is, who cares?
Like.
[00:33:04] Speaker B: Like, honestly, it's over and done with now.
[00:33:06] Speaker A: Honestly, I. Hindsight being 20 20.
[00:33:08] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:33:08] Speaker A: You ended up with the Browns and not the Ravens. That hurts.
But from his perspective, why would you want to back Lamar Jackson's got quite a few years ahead of him. Like you're stuck behind a Hall of Famer.
[00:33:22] Speaker B: I disagree.
Why was Tyler Huntley in the Pro Bowl?
[00:33:27] Speaker A: Because Lamar Jackson got hurt.
[00:33:28] Speaker B: Lamar plays a physical game. I feel like that's a good guy to sit behind and.
[00:33:32] Speaker A: Actually, let's. Hold on, hold on. Before we go any further. The reason why Tyler Huntley was in the Pro bowl is because, like, four or five quarterbacks before him decided they didn't want to be a part of the Pro Pro bowl, and then he was the next guy up.
[00:33:43] Speaker B: They didn't want to. All expenses, pay, vacation, literally.
[00:33:46] Speaker A: The guys that were actually starters said, I don't want to do this. And he was like, I started, like, five games this year.
[00:33:52] Speaker B: That's fair. But look, I. I still say Lamar plays a physical brand of football, so it's not out of the realm of possibility that you could see some playing time there and you're playing on a good football team. I mean, it comes at odds with the, you know, whole legendary vibe and social media presence that you're trying to create and build and monetize. So I get that aspect of it.
The worst place you possibly could have ended up in all of professional sports is Cleveland as a quarterback. So that didn't really work out well for you.
[00:34:22] Speaker A: Listen, I hear what you're saying, because I've said it for years and years and years. Lamar Jackson, his time is coming. He's going to get hurt. It's going to be the end of his career.
How I've been saying that for so long now that I just can't say it anymore. So he's going to be their Quarterback, career ending injury.
[00:34:38] Speaker B: But I just think, think as a young quarterback, you could see playing time there. And I don't think that he's a bad guy to learn from. Right. He's a generational talent. They're a good football team. They're going to be in the playoffs every year. You might get a ring and then three or four years, maybe you end up on another team or maybe Lamar gets trade, you know, go somewhere else, gets hurt. I don't know what could happen.
[00:34:55] Speaker A: Right. All I'm saying is three or four.
[00:34:56] Speaker B: Years, an eternity in the NFL.
[00:34:58] Speaker A: All I'm saying is I don't knock the guy for. If he did make this known to the Ravens. I understand why.
[00:35:04] Speaker B: I also look at it and say, how old is Shador Sanders? 22, 23 years old. What NFL front office is like, okay, some kid told me not to draft him. He's not going to be a part of our plan. Like, I just don't buy that. That even was like, I'm not challenging the validity of it, but I just. If they really wanted to draft him, they would have just drafted him. It wasn't a number one overall Eli Manning scenario where they were like, like, I'm not. I'm refused to play. There you were being drafted at pick 141. If they wanted to take you, they were going to take.
[00:35:38] Speaker A: At that point, they're probably on the fence about him anyways. And then he said that and they were like, I guess not.
[00:35:41] Speaker B: Yeah, whatever. I guess we didn't want you there.
[00:35:43] Speaker A: We were going to take a flyer. We won't now, but yeah, so with that, let's go ahead and get into the division roundup.
[00:36:01] Speaker C: I was adjusting myself and my hand.
[00:36:03] Speaker A: Hit that, put that in there. I was adjusting myself.
[00:36:10] Speaker B: It does feel like the stuff that is Brown's news is like so inconsequential to everything that's going on.
[00:36:17] Speaker C: He said this six months ago.
[00:36:20] Speaker A: Yeah, it was just so. It was. It was odd timing for me in Rapaport to put that out like an hour before the game.
[00:36:26] Speaker B: I think it was real. I think.
[00:36:28] Speaker A: And was it a relevancy thing? Like when I think in rapport is like, I've been saving this one. One.
[00:36:32] Speaker B: No, I think that was a Baltimore Ravens leak because it was the 30th anniversary of the Ravens. That was their first home game and they had the Browns coming to town. I thought that was like just one more stick it to them.
[00:36:43] Speaker A: We. We saw how classy Baltimore is this week. I mean, just. Yeah. All over the Browns when you stole our team. Yeah, F them. F them all.
But anyways, division round up here, we'll start with Cincinnati. Cincinnati this week beat the Jaguars, but at what cost? Right, the cost. I'll get to that in a second.
So in this one we all got this one, right? We all pick Cincinnati. The fact that it was as close as it was as just. Just even circumstances that that were there, it's just mind boggling.
[00:37:13] Speaker B: Well, I said like the Jaguars, they. They're not absolute trash. They're not going to win a lot of games this year, but I think they have enough talent that they can play competitive football.
[00:37:21] Speaker A: Are they kind of like the Browns? They might be competitive sometimes, but they're going to lose all their games.
[00:37:25] Speaker B: They may have a better record than the Browns at the end of the year. By the time this is all more.
[00:37:29] Speaker A: Picks for us, but they're higher picks for us.
[00:37:31] Speaker B: But ultimately like especially now that Joe Burrow's out, like I don't know that either one of these teams is going to be that good. So.
[00:37:39] Speaker A: Yeah, I mean, yeah, it's going to be bad. But next up here, Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh was handed what looked like a Brown style loss at the hands of Seattle.
I don't know. You guys saw that, right?
[00:37:51] Speaker B: Yeah, that was a, that was a goofy play.
I think it was tied 17 to 17 at the time and basically just mind numbing.
[00:38:00] Speaker A: The rookie kick returner for the Steelers was like I'll give you the game.
[00:38:03] Speaker B: Let a ball just bounce into the end zone to be recovered by Seattle.
[00:38:07] Speaker A: That's a live ball, bro.
Yeah.
[00:38:09] Speaker C: So Browns had like a Pittsburgh play and then the Pittsburgh had true with.
[00:38:13] Speaker A: The crazy stuff in the. Yeah.
[00:38:15] Speaker C: Tillman tip or two. Tillman.
[00:38:17] Speaker A: Tillman has two. Has a touchdown in both the games so far.
[00:38:19] Speaker B: So I mean does that even count? Like can you even count that as a statistic? Like that was the most ridiculous play I've ever seen.
[00:38:26] Speaker A: But anyways, me bone Kenny all wrong in this one. And John gets this one right. The lone, the lone Seattle lover over there.
[00:38:36] Speaker B: Wolf.
[00:38:37] Speaker A: And then finally Cleveland got embarrassed by the Ravens. We all got this one right.
And actually we all, we all were were saying that they were going to be get beat pretty bad and they got beat a lot worse than we thought they would.
So yeah, that's your score. Pick was the closest. 3117 is what you picked. It was 41 17.
[00:38:55] Speaker B: Should have went higher. Yeah, the over I went with the under. Yeah.
[00:38:59] Speaker A: So for the AFC north right now, standings are as follows. Cincinnati at 2 and oh, and then Baltimore at 1 and 1, Pittsburgh at 1 on 1 and Cleveland right where we belong. Right where we've always been. Oh, and two.
[00:39:10] Speaker B: I mean, this division right now looks like a bunch of pretenders. There's no way Cincinnati is good.
[00:39:15] Speaker A: Pittsburgh, I don't think Cincinnati's not good. Pittsburgh's not good. Cleveland's not good.
[00:39:18] Speaker B: Pittsburgh is at risk of being under.500 for the first time under Mike Tomlin.
[00:39:22] Speaker A: Yeah, they're not good.
[00:39:24] Speaker B: And Cleveland's not going to win a lot of games this year. So Baltimore is.
[00:39:27] Speaker A: Baltimore should beat up on the division this year.
[00:39:30] Speaker B: I mean, they, they, they should be two and oh right now and had that late, last minute collapse anyway. So, like, this division is misleading right now.
[00:39:38] Speaker A: Yep. And so the current king of the north standings, which we'll come back to a little bit later, Bone is sitting on top at 4 and 2, and then me, Kenny and John are all tied at three.
[00:39:47] Speaker B: And Bone is in pole position.
[00:39:49] Speaker A: Bone the bone pole.
[00:39:52] Speaker B: Bone the bean pole.
[00:39:54] Speaker A: But with that, let's take a quick trip around the NFL.
All right, so I, I mentioned the Bengals and Jaguars game a minute ago. Big story in this one that I'm sure you both saw yellow dong thrown on the field in the Bengals game. Yes, that's right. A yellow dong.
[00:40:17] Speaker B: Tricky. The cameraman.
[00:40:19] Speaker A: The, the. The broadcast thought it was a flag.
[00:40:21] Speaker B: Nope. The broadcast operator immediately put flag on the screen.
[00:40:25] Speaker A: Nope, it was a yellow dong dong on the play.
[00:40:27] Speaker B: We are here for the dong throwing so many dogs.
[00:40:31] Speaker C: That was a heads up by the dong throw there. Bringing a yellow one.
[00:40:34] Speaker A: Yeah. Good job, buddy. Good job. Oh, and, and Joe Burrow got hurt and we'll be out three months with turf toe.
[00:40:39] Speaker B: Ah, that feels bad.
[00:40:40] Speaker A: Yeah. So in case that was the story, you thought I was going. It's not.
Next up here, Patriots versus Dolphins. Back to back return touchdowns. Malik Washington for Miami had a punt return touchdown, followed immediately by Antonio Gibson for New England return, turning the ensuing kickoff for a touchdown.
[00:40:56] Speaker B: That was the most fun. Gang, gang, gang. Where are you going there?
It's not political. No, no. The, the most fun game break of the day was they were like, holy smokes. It was a kick return, a punt return for a touchdown. And then literally 30 seconds, they're like, holy smokes. There's another kick return for a touchdown.
[00:41:15] Speaker A: And it was only the second time in NFL history, first time since Desmond Howard versus Deion Sanders in 1992.
[00:41:21] Speaker B: No gangs involved.
[00:41:22] Speaker A: No gangs.
Next up here, Giants versus Cowboys. Russell Wilson threw for 450 yards yarns.
[00:41:31] Speaker B: That's a lot of stirring boys.
[00:41:33] Speaker C: Anybody?
[00:41:34] Speaker A: Russell.
Russell Wilson threw for 450 yards. Bone, what does this mean?
[00:41:41] Speaker C: Russell is continuing to tussle and I.
[00:41:43] Speaker A: Knew you would say that, so that's why I let you say it. But I'm here to tell you he didn't tussle and he cost us a game. Cost them the game with an interception in overtime.
[00:41:52] Speaker C: He's so wash. That wasn't his fault.
[00:41:54] Speaker A: He's trash.
[00:41:54] Speaker C: His receiver should have got.
[00:41:55] Speaker B: That was a bad throw. He threw it right.
[00:41:57] Speaker C: Should have been there.
[00:41:59] Speaker A: Bone will stick up for.
[00:42:00] Speaker C: He probably ran the wrong route.
[00:42:02] Speaker A: It was definitely like bones. Like, it couldn't have been Russell. He always tussles.
But then also in that game. James Hudson, former Brown bench Doing Brown's thing. Yeah, just doing Brown's thing. He was benched after committing four consecutive penalties in the opening drive.
Four consecutive penalties.
[00:42:21] Speaker B: Wow. Feels real bad.
[00:42:23] Speaker A: I think the coach had a. Had a. They asked him about it after the game. He's like, look, we had a talk with him after the third one. Once the fourth one happened, we knew it was just all in his head and we just had to get him out of there. We said, your day's over, man.
[00:42:35] Speaker B: Andre Schmidt of NFL lineman.
[00:42:37] Speaker A: Yeah. So benched. And then finally, Lions versus Bears.
Lions humped the Bears and everyone cried.
[00:42:48] Speaker B: Not go the way I thought it was going to go.
[00:42:51] Speaker A: So they beat the Bears pretty badly. They went for it on 4th and goal at the end of the game and scored a touchdown. The fans all complained. They interviewed Ben Johnson, former offensive coordinator for the Lions, now head coach for the Bears. They said, are you mad about this? He said, I mean, we should have stopped them.
[00:43:06] Speaker B: I don't.
[00:43:07] Speaker A: I don't know what this is.
[00:43:08] Speaker B: Big boy ball. This is the NFL.
Your job is to not let them score on 4th and goal.
[00:43:13] Speaker A: And again, the fans were the ones complaining about this and crying.
But also in this game, the Detroit fans chanted, fuck Ben Johnson as he came out on the field.
So stay classy, Detroit.
[00:43:26] Speaker B: Stay classy, Detroit.
[00:43:28] Speaker A: Yeah, but that'll do it for our trip around the NFL.
[00:43:32] Speaker B: Yourself, Detroit.
[00:43:35] Speaker A: Kenny, I think it's time for another interview in the Browns Baggers interview series.
[00:43:39] Speaker B: Let's do it.
How much money do you make a year before taxes?
I'm actually not comfortable answering that. Come on, we're doing the interview now, not you.
[00:43:52] Speaker A: All right, so for this Brownsbackers interview, please help me welcome, hailing from the bar of Appleton in Green Bay, Wisconsin, the president of The Fox Valley of Wisconsin Browns backers. Mike.
Mike, thank you so much for joining us. How are you today?
[00:44:09] Speaker E: Good, thanks. Thanks for having me, guys. I really do appreciate it.
[00:44:13] Speaker A: Yeah, no problem. No problem.
And you're right there in the backyard of. Of our. Of this week's opponent. So you're, you're gonna have some.
You know what they're saying out there.
Yeah.
[00:44:25] Speaker D: It'S interesting.
[00:44:27] Speaker A: Yeah. But before we get to. To the Browns in the game this week, tell us a little bit about your chapter.
[00:44:34] Speaker E: Yeah, yeah. So we actually hill from the Fox Fox Valley, which is a little bit of a suburb of the Green Bay area, so we're about 20 minutes outside of Green Bay.
Been around since 2012. I'm actually the second. No, excuse me, the third president of this group since the our foundation year and.
[00:44:57] Speaker A: But the best one, right?
What was that the best president though, right?
[00:45:01] Speaker E: Oh, absolutely. Of course. Of course.
We we started off, I would say this. It's hard being a.
A chapter in this area with such a dominant force that the packers like community is. So I always say we're in a unique spot and you know, we're a special group, but we, we're. We're small. We're definitely a smaller group, but over the years we went from having two of us to I think our roster now, last I checked was like close to 16.
But on every Sunday, Monday, Thursday or Sunday Night Football would get on would consistently get anywhere between 15, 10 to 15 people show up annually or weekly. So that's nice.
Over the last couple years, though, with the losing that we had to kind of endure, we lose people that want to show up. So as a president, that's always a big challenge. But you know, we're just looking to regroup and keep growing our ranks and, and having a lot of fun watching our Browns every Sunday.
You know, outside of that, you know what we like to focus on. Because we are a smaller group, we don't get to have those big raffles or charity events on the weekly like a lot of bigger chapters do. But what we typically do is at the end of the year we'll, we'll pull all the money that we did raise and typically find an organization to donate. At this point, we're still as a chapter decide to deciding what group we're going to donate to this year.
So more to come on that. But typically it's. It's usually like a Toys for Tots or a.
A food pantry in the local community.
[00:46:47] Speaker A: Absolutely. And every little bit counts. So I know times do get challenging, especially with the Browns being the Browns. The Browns is the Browns.
Times do get challenging as far as attendance goes and getting people out there. But I think the fact that you.
[00:47:01] Speaker B: You're.
[00:47:02] Speaker A: That you keep on keeping on is. Is a real testament to Browns fans, and just most of them are willing to endure. It gets harder and harder to go out for the games, but they're still there. And as soon as. As soon as you even get, like, one win, all of a sudden I'm sure you guys get peaks and valleys where it's like the peak comes out and we won a game and now, you know, 20 new people showed up.
Well, we.
[00:47:25] Speaker B: We.
[00:47:26] Speaker E: It was funny when we first started off, we are. Our originally original viewing location was at the Paper Valley Hotel here in Appleton, which is where all the NFL teams stay when they play the Packers. So it was always interesting mingling with other fan bases that would come in. They'll stare at us like, what's this group doing here in the middle of Green Bay watching the Browns? And it's like, then you're going to explain, hey, this is what we do.
We love our Browns, who support them. It's cool running into NFL players constantly. I still remember the day Charles Tillman knocked my daughter over by accident walking through the hallways.
So it's very.
It's a very unique environment and setting that we're in, for sure.
[00:48:12] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:48:13] Speaker B: Michael, how did you become a Browns fan?
[00:48:16] Speaker E: I'm actually from that area. I'm from Lorraine.
[00:48:19] Speaker A: Oh, so. So you were born into a.
I.
[00:48:21] Speaker E: Was born into it. But the odd thing about it, unfortunately, my mom's a Pittsburgh Steelers fan. She grew up as a Steelers fan.
[00:48:28] Speaker A: I was gonna throw a really harsh slur her way, and I decided not to go for it.
[00:48:34] Speaker B: I do it all the time.
[00:48:35] Speaker A: No, I can't do it. I can't do it. I have a wife and a little mom. I have a wife and a little girl. They would be disappointed in me.
[00:48:43] Speaker E: Yeah, No, I. I grew up hardcore Browns fan, actually. All Cleveland sports fans. You know that just beyond the Browns Guardians and Cavs, obviously in Ohio State. But yeah, just when. When we end up moving to Wisconsin and up into this area, first thing I did was find the local, you know, local backers group. Found that group, just started making those connections and friends. And then here I said, I'm gonna.
[00:49:08] Speaker A: Take this group over. Yeah. Yeah.
[00:49:10] Speaker B: I said, yeah.
[00:49:11] Speaker E: That was my ultimate goal.
[00:49:12] Speaker A: Yeah.
Mission accomplished.
[00:49:15] Speaker E: Thirteen years later, I took it.
[00:49:17] Speaker A: Absolutely. You were playing for the long term. Yeah.
[00:49:20] Speaker B: Yeah. It was a silent Coup.
[00:49:22] Speaker A: Yeah, but anybody that. Yeah.
With all that being said, a couple quick questions for you. First of all, who wins this Sunday and why?
[00:49:34] Speaker E: Oh, okay. Do you want my fandom pick or.
[00:49:36] Speaker A: Do you want a real. No, this is a real take. Yeah. We want to know what happens.
[00:49:40] Speaker B: This is being published, Mike.
[00:49:42] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah.
[00:49:45] Speaker E: Fortunately, just because we cannot put the ball in the end zone consistently. And with that being said, I think we have a top five defense of all NFL. I think we have a playoff caliber defense. But I am going with the Packers 3418 on this this week.
[00:50:00] Speaker A: 3418. That's pretty close to some of our scores that you'll hear later in the show.
Yeah, yeah. Unfortunately, it is what it is. I mean, the Browns, they can't score points to save their lives and it's fair.
I'm not going to get into it here because we got to get into it in the show. We got plenty of show to talk about this.
[00:50:17] Speaker B: But Mike, what's the word on the ground there? I mean, is everyone pretty on fire for this packers team? They feel like they're going to do big things this year.
[00:50:24] Speaker E: Yeah. Ever since Micah Parson made his presence here in Lambeau Field, it's. It went up a whole notch and it's nauseating. I'll just say that it's completely nauseating up here.
[00:50:34] Speaker A: You mentioned it being tough to be a group there. I can only imagine it's probably kind of like, like any of the division rivals towns because the packers are such a big football town. I mean, Green Bay is such a big football town that, that it's. It just has to be tough to have any fans outside of Green Bay fans in that town.
[00:50:52] Speaker E: Yeah, it truly is.
[00:50:54] Speaker B: It's.
[00:50:55] Speaker E: As a group, we said, listen, if we, if we don't win any other game all year long, please make it this game. And I hope the packers go undefeated for the rest of the year. So then I could look at all my neighbors and just say, remember that one loss. That was this guy.
[00:51:12] Speaker A: He didn't beat the Browns. Yeah.
[00:51:15] Speaker E: Yes.
[00:51:15] Speaker A: Yeah.
It's unfortunate that we've got to that point. We're just hoping for one win. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. I'm right there with you, Mike.
[00:51:23] Speaker B: I can tell you what I'm nauseated about is seeing that house that they bought across the street from Lambeau Field on NFL Sunday every week.
Yeah.
[00:51:31] Speaker E: It's a cool environment. You know, all kidding. Inside the, the. The Green Bay fans, Lambeau Field, the environment.
I've never been to a more Welcoming, like, area to just see a football game or just hang out with, like, a different fan base. It's a really cool experience up here.
[00:51:50] Speaker A: I was just.
[00:51:51] Speaker E: Most recently, obviously, I was at the draft, and then, you know, I've been to many games up in Lambeau, so it's definitely a cool experience.
[00:51:58] Speaker B: Midwestern hospitality. They're not. Not trash like Pittsburgh. Yeah.
[00:52:02] Speaker A: No, no, no. All that being said, though, you know what I say to fans of anybody besides the Browns? I say, but. But, yeah, we don't. We don't. They could be nice, but they still suck.
But listen, Mike, on a cheese curd, right? Exactly. You got it. Listen, Mike, we. We wish we could stay on and talk to you all night, but we really do appreciate you being on, telling us a little bit about your chapter and what you guys have going on out there, and we hope to catch up with you if we're ever in the Green Bay area to see a game. Yeah, absolutely.
[00:52:37] Speaker E: We'll show you that Midwest. Nice up here for sure.
[00:52:40] Speaker A: Yeah.
Appreciate it, Mike.
[00:52:41] Speaker B: Thanks, Mike. Mike. Absolutely, guys.
[00:52:43] Speaker D: Thank you.
[00:52:48] Speaker E: We're the Fox Valley Browns backers, and you're listening to the Burning River Sportcast.
[00:52:52] Speaker D: Cole Brownie.
[00:52:57] Speaker A: Ah, Good time talking to Mike from Fox Valley, huh?
[00:53:00] Speaker B: I like Mike. Mike had a little edge to him.
[00:53:02] Speaker A: I like. I. I wish these segments were a little bit longer. We can't. Our show would be so long, but I wish they were a little bit longer. Sometimes, like, Mike's a guy I feel.
[00:53:09] Speaker B: Like I'd like to get in the muny lot with.
[00:53:11] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:53:11] Speaker B: Like, throw. Throw down a couple of pops.
[00:53:14] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:53:14] Speaker C: Game pops.
[00:53:15] Speaker B: Game pops.
[00:53:16] Speaker A: Game pops. You ever done a desk pop?
[00:53:20] Speaker B: I don't know.
I gave my son a cake pop this weekend. Oh, I don't know if you've been.
[00:53:26] Speaker A: Never done a cake pop.
[00:53:27] Speaker B: Have you been to.
[00:53:30] Speaker E: Sounds dirty.
[00:53:33] Speaker B: Not cake farts. Don't Google that one. Cake pop.
[00:53:37] Speaker A: So lightheaded.
[00:53:38] Speaker B: I was gonna ask, have you been to Starbucks lately?
[00:53:42] Speaker A: Gotten a cake pop?
[00:53:43] Speaker B: Not a advertisement, but they have raccoon pops right now for, like, the seasonal cake pop. They're. They look like raccoons.
[00:53:51] Speaker A: They good.
[00:53:52] Speaker C: All my girls love cake pops.
[00:53:55] Speaker B: But then he was kind of sad when he started eating it, and he was like, their raccoon is gone.
[00:53:58] Speaker A: Your son finally learned my name today.
[00:54:00] Speaker B: Yeah, he did.
[00:54:00] Speaker A: He's been calling me every different combination of wine, Juan or whatever he could, and. And today he actually said Ronnie, so I was proud.
[00:54:07] Speaker B: He's getting there.
[00:54:09] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:54:09] Speaker B: He's learning everything for the first time.
[00:54:11] Speaker A: That's true. He's a new human.
All right, you already heard from the macho fan at the top of the show. Now, before we get into the weekly preview, we've also got a message from Brownster knot T minus 10, 9, 8.
[00:54:27] Speaker B: 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1.
Let's go. Zero.
Ignition.
Liftoff.
Liftoff.
This is Brown Chinock calling in on the burning river sportscast with an intergalactic upset alert. The Browns are launching into orbit this Sunday versus the Packers. Time to shake up the status quo. Green Bay 2, 0, start.
That's an opposing moon we're gonna have to crash.
Packers may be favored on pace paper, but the Browns have the fuel to flip the gravity this week. Let's make it a cosmic chaos in Cleveland.
[00:55:12] Speaker A: So once again, I'm just going to sit here and say this.
I love when these guys come on and they're so positive and they love everything that's happening and then open us up and then we get back to the show and that's what we're going to do right now. So strap in, guys.
I think this is going to. This is going to be painful.
[00:55:29] Speaker B: I just had, like a face cramp. That's how sad I was about the Browns.
[00:55:32] Speaker A: Too much caffeine.
[00:55:34] Speaker B: Dang it.
[00:55:35] Speaker A: But like I said, it's time for.
[00:55:36] Speaker B: The week three preview.
[00:55:42] Speaker A: All right, guys. This week we have the Green Bay packers.
And with each preview comes another edition of Kenny's Cliff Notes.
All right, Kenny, what are your cliff notes?
[00:55:56] Speaker B: Kenny's Cliff Notes. My whole face is a cramp.
[00:55:59] Speaker A: I hope it falls off.
[00:56:02] Speaker B: Tennis club notes.
Packers head coach Matt LaFleur as the second most regular season wins in NFL.
[00:56:10] Speaker A: Have fun losing with these losers in Las Vegas.
[00:56:12] Speaker B: LaFleur by a head coach in his first six seasons in the league. Cramming up your cram hole, Leflore.
[00:56:17] Speaker A: Yes.
[00:56:17] Speaker B: Good luck losing with these losers. LaFleur. That's me. Six years and £600 ago.
[00:56:25] Speaker A: I didn't even know that was coming.
[00:56:27] Speaker B: I was laughing before the show.
Cramming up your gram on the floor.
Jordan Love threw for 25 touchdowns a year ago to just 11 interceptions. He picked up where he left off, throwing four touchdowns and no picks already this season. Josh Jacobs ran for 1300 yards and 15 tutties last year. That guy's still pretty good.
This is good.
[00:56:51] Speaker A: Okay.
[00:56:51] Speaker B: Romeo Dubes.
Smoker.
[00:56:53] Speaker A: The Dube Lazing the Dube.
[00:56:57] Speaker B: Matthew Golden. They're solid. And South Dakota State jackrabbit tight end Tucker Kraft is on his way to becoming a household name.
[00:57:07] Speaker A: He Played for the Jackrabbits. And his name's Tucker Craft.
[00:57:10] Speaker B: Yes.
[00:57:11] Speaker A: Everything about that sounds so made up.
[00:57:13] Speaker B: Just sounds like it came out of a video game.
[00:57:15] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:57:16] Speaker B: This offensive line is the middle of the pack. Pack. Get it.
Could be a huge opportunity for the Browns, if there's any hope at all. The Defense improved in 2024 under defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley, and the outlook was optimistic for this unit anchored by stud safety Xavier McKinney.
But then they signed a guy named Michael Parsons. I don't know if y' all heard about this guy, but, hey, he literally changes everything.
[00:57:42] Speaker A: That guy's pretty good.
[00:57:44] Speaker B: The Browns may not be ready to make a change at quarterback just yet, but I'll tell you what, we might go through three of them with Micah Parsons on the field. Calling quarterback one, quarterback two, and quarterback three. Watch out. This guy's coming.
Brandon McMann. And McMann. McMann. McMann.
[00:58:02] Speaker A: What are you saying here?
[00:58:03] Speaker B: No, I got my tongue twisted. Someone twisted my tongue. Twisted his dick.
[00:58:08] Speaker A: Twist his dick. That guy's the second show in a row that. This came a second week in a row this came up.
[00:58:13] Speaker B: That guy's gonna kick the ball, and Daniel wh. And the Irishman will punt the ball.
Go Browns.
[00:58:20] Speaker A: All right. And with every edition of Kenny's Cliff Notes, you get another edition of matchups.
[00:58:45] Speaker B: Cramming up your cram hole. Lefleur.
[00:58:47] Speaker A: Oh, man. Just a classic. Classic line.
All right, so I. I bet you can't guess how many matchups I got for you. It's two.
[00:58:54] Speaker B: Two.
[00:58:55] Speaker A: It's two.
Number one.
[00:58:57] Speaker B: Shocked.
[00:58:58] Speaker A: Miles Garrett versus Rasheed Walker. And I know Myles Garrett comes up on this list fairly often, but for this week, there's, like, a real reason for it.
[00:59:04] Speaker B: Well, he is the dog of the week every week.
[00:59:06] Speaker A: Oh, yeah.
I'm usually right about spotlighting this because he. If he does good things, we usually do good things. Not lately, but we usually do good things. And if he doesn't, then we don't. But this week, he's. He's got Rasheed Walker at left tackle for the Green Bay Packers. And this is important because he's.
This is important because he's the first. He's a first year starting left tackle. He spent the last few years backing up Bakhtiari over there in Green Bay. And then in camp this year, he beat out Jordan Morgan for the starting job. So this guy's a first year starting left tackle, and he's primed for giving up multiple sacks.
[00:59:43] Speaker B: Jordan Morgan was a big question mark in the Offseason, they weren't sure what they were going to do in that line. So.
[00:59:47] Speaker A: Yeah, so yeah, if there was a game that Miles could get another multiple sack game, this is probably it. Big sacks, big sacks.
And then next up here, Quin Sean Judkins versus the packers front seven.
Listen, the packers have done extremely well in the first two games against the run this year. They're only giving up 48.5 rush yards per game.
That being said, Quinn, Sean had a good showing in his first time out with the Browns this year and I expect, or at least I hope, I shouldn't say I expect, I don't expect it. I hope that he builds on that and he's able to have another good showing.
But it's going to be a, you know, a real test this year. This year, this week against that solid run defense from the Packers. So in summary here, the, the packers, they're coming off a great win against the Commanders. They're two and oh, they have a good defensive unit. They're number five overall in the NFL. Michael Parsons looks as good as ever. The pass defense is number 15 in the NFL. The run defense is number two in the NFL.
Their offense, they're in the upper half of the league so far.
Offense Overall is number 12 in the NFL. Run game is number 17. Pass games number 10.
The Browns on the flip side, they're coming off that embarrassing loss to the Ravens. I would do this thing again that I did last year where I list off all the shit's embarrassing, all the, the losses that we've had all season long, but it's going to get really long.
[01:01:09] Speaker C: Don't do it.
[01:01:10] Speaker A: So I'm not going to do it. The Browns are 0 and 2 overall. Oh, and 2 in the division. Just not a good football team right now. And they have no juice. It's just like, like they just look dead out there there Both games so far.
[01:01:19] Speaker B: I feel like that was your stick.
That was like all you had.
[01:01:22] Speaker A: It was, it was. That was all I had.
[01:01:24] Speaker B: The only thing you contributed to the show.
[01:01:26] Speaker A: I hate you. You're the worst.
But anyways, the Browns defensively, they, they Browns have a solid defensive unit. They are number two overall in the NFL. They're number one against the run. I said that the packers def. Run defense was good with 48.5 rush yards per game. The Browns are giving up 47.6yards per game. And I'm. I'm be honest with you. I don't even know if that updated after this last game. They only gave up 23 to Derek Henry. So they're the number one rush defense in the league.
And then their past defense is actually surprisingly number two in the NFL.
[01:02:00] Speaker B: Doesn't matter.
[01:02:02] Speaker A: Not.
[01:02:02] Speaker B: But didn't matter on Sunday.
[01:02:03] Speaker A: No. And. And now we are without our top pass defender. I'm pretty sure Denzel Ward's probably gonna miss some time.
Not sure. Not 100% sure on that yet. I don't think the updated injury reports come out.
[01:02:15] Speaker B: Yeah, that was kind of a weird one. So I don't remember them saying, like, during the game that there was anything in particular that he was out for. I thought they said cramps, but I don't know.
[01:02:26] Speaker A: Was it cramps?
[01:02:27] Speaker B: I thought it was because they had. I thought they had asked Miles.
[01:02:29] Speaker A: Well, then hopefully he's back.
[01:02:30] Speaker B: Because if we had asked Miles about that after the game, they were like, you know, your boy's cramping up. Like, you guys are trying to win a game. What's going on? And, I mean, he kind of waved it off, whatever, but.
[01:02:38] Speaker A: Well, I hope that's all it was, because if we're going to rely on Greg Newsom as our number one. Greg Newsom's a good nickel quarter cornerback. A good.
He's even a decent second corner. He is not a good number one.
[01:02:51] Speaker B: No.
[01:02:52] Speaker A: So we got to see if all these guys can step up. And even if. If Denzel Ward ends up being limited for whatever reason, you know, just hopefully these guys can step up. Offensively though, the Browns are still not good. Overall, they do rank number 14 in the NFL. But turnovers on offense in this offense from offensive Guru Kevin Stefani that is averaging 13 points per game over the last eight games has been ass.
[01:03:16] Speaker B: Yes.
[01:03:17] Speaker C: Terrible.
[01:03:18] Speaker B: Their passing game, I'm surprised they were somehow ranked 14. Like, what is the rest of the game?
[01:03:23] Speaker A: It's because our passing game is number five in the NFL.
[01:03:25] Speaker B: Joe Cuz. Joe Flag.
[01:03:26] Speaker A: Yeah. Because we throw up 45 times a game.
[01:03:28] Speaker B: 290 yards, week one.
[01:03:29] Speaker A: Yeah. And then their running game is number 30 in the NFL.
The Browns also hold the longest active losing streak at eight games. And Kenny said it may be calendar year before they win a game.
I tend to agree with him. It might be.
And so with that, let me. With that in mind, let's just go ahead and go to. Go to bone for bone man. Skeleton key to victory.
All right, Bone man. What's your skeleton key to victory?
[01:04:00] Speaker C: All right, guys, I think I'm gonna stay consistent here.
[01:04:04] Speaker A: You come to the Burning River Sportscast for. For the same take over and over.
[01:04:08] Speaker C: And over again, the Browns have been consistent.
[01:04:13] Speaker A: Consistently bad.
[01:04:16] Speaker C: And. Yeah. So turnovers.
We need to get a turnover.
[01:04:20] Speaker A: Must be turnovers.
[01:04:21] Speaker C: The defense, I guess, has been good. They've given up a lot of points, but they've been good.
They're top five, top two defense, apparently, statistically so. But we just have zero turnovers still.
[01:04:31] Speaker B: Statistics equal zero bomb.
[01:04:32] Speaker C: And it would be great to get our offense, you know, in the. In the race. The red zone a couple times.
[01:04:37] Speaker A: Yeah.
[01:04:37] Speaker C: By. Through the defense.
[01:04:38] Speaker A: Yeah.
[01:04:39] Speaker C: And then that's how we're gonna win.
[01:04:42] Speaker B: It would help.
[01:04:43] Speaker C: That's the key to the victory if.
[01:04:44] Speaker B: We'Re gonna have a victory.
[01:04:45] Speaker C: Okay, so we need those turnovers in the red zone.
[01:04:48] Speaker A: We'll see if Bone thinks his key to victory is actually gonna happen or not.
[01:04:52] Speaker C: I'm gonna keep saying this until they get a turnover.
[01:04:54] Speaker A: Fair.
[01:04:55] Speaker B: Fair. Be a long year.
[01:04:56] Speaker A: Kenny, what's the betting info for us?
[01:04:58] Speaker B: Current line, the original line is pack minus eight and a half.
Not as disrespectful. As disrespectful. But it is.
[01:05:08] Speaker A: Especially because we're at home.
[01:05:09] Speaker B: But it is the leader in the clubhouse for largest spread of the week.
[01:05:13] Speaker A: That's. We gotta be three weeks in a row now. Cause I think opening week we were. Well, no, we were only like three and a half or something.
[01:05:17] Speaker B: But at home there was no. Wasn't the opening line. Six and a half.
[01:05:23] Speaker A: The opening line was.
I'll actually tell you right now. I got shown notes.
Five and a half. So it might.
Dang feels bad. What's the over.
[01:05:35] Speaker B: Under. They're not good against the spread the. This year.
Well, I guess in week one. But over. Under 42 and a half.
[01:05:42] Speaker A: 42 and a half. All right, players to watch. Kenny, we'll start with you.
Actually. We'll start with me. I'm gonna go with Quinn shot Judkins this week.
[01:05:51] Speaker B: There's no format to this show.
[01:05:53] Speaker A: No, no, I'm gonna go with Quinn. Shawn Judkins. I know he has bones. Player to watch last week, my player to watch this week.
He actually looked pretty good in his. In his first start for the Brown. Was it a. What counts a starter.
[01:06:05] Speaker C: What did I say? One day of practice.
[01:06:07] Speaker B: One day of practice. Yeah. I would say he didn't look good on his first carry because I went for negative three yards.
Welcome to the NFL.
[01:06:14] Speaker A: Yeah. But overall I think he played well. He showed that he has some power.
The thing that I don't like this has been my knock against Quinte John Judkins. All along even back to the draft when I said I would have rather had trivia on Henderson is he doesn't have have that next gear once he gets to the second level where he's got breakaway speed. Yeah, he's lacking that. And you saw it. He kind of just like trucked a linebacker and then got hawked down.
[01:06:40] Speaker B: He does got good size and strength.
[01:06:42] Speaker A: Yeah.
[01:06:42] Speaker B: Like powerful runner.
[01:06:44] Speaker A: He didn't only get hawked out. Like it took like three yards. Like he had nobody in front of him and he was like, I'm not that fast.
[01:06:50] Speaker B: It is odd because when you watch him in college, especially his. He's so agile.
[01:06:56] Speaker A: Yeah. You would shift these side to side.
[01:06:58] Speaker B: I mean he's got such great lateral speed. You would think he would be a guy absolute burner. Not that he's slow by any means.
[01:07:06] Speaker A: And that's not what I'm saying. I'm just saying like dbs will catch him like every time, right? Yeah, but. But all that being said, if he can improve upon that and continue to grow and build on. On his first start with the Browns or his first game with the Browns, I do see good things for Quinn, Sean Judkin going forward. So I'm just besides the winning portion of it because you're on the Browns.
[01:07:25] Speaker B: I'm just curious like how they're going to use him. Like are they going to use him as a bell cow back or are they going to use him as a guy that's a gadget everywhere type guy.
[01:07:33] Speaker A: I hope so. Here's the other thing is if he. If he does develop into the bell cow back, I give it to week eight before Jerome Ford's cut.
[01:07:42] Speaker B: Well, I think that was an Andrew Barrett guy, so we'll see.
[01:07:45] Speaker A: He loves him. Yeah. Kenny, who's your player to watch?
[01:07:48] Speaker B: I was going to go Quinshon just you can't. But in an effort to not give you the same takes every week on the Bernie sportscast, my player to watch this week is Isaiah Bond.
And here's why. Somebody's got to catch the ball.
Come on, Jerry Judy out there dropping balls. Cedric Tillman was my player to watch last week. He had two catches this weekend. One of those I don't even know that's a catch. It was a tipped ball. He was just sitting on his knees in the end zone.
[01:08:18] Speaker A: I guess I'll catch this now.
[01:08:20] Speaker B: I guess that counts as a touchdown. But it was one of the goofiest plays goofy as hell I've ever seen.
[01:08:25] Speaker A: At the end of the year. If he. If he is not going to do this. Let me preface that. At the end of the year, if he were to break the record for most touchdown receptions, that would still count.
Just saying.
[01:08:35] Speaker B: But somebody got to catch a damn ball. So I think they got to get Isaiah Bond more involved.
I mean was was involved in limited action on Sunday and I think for this offense to be successful, like they've got a somebody, somebody besides Jerry Judy has to be counted on and be productive every week.
[01:08:53] Speaker A: Yeah.
[01:08:53] Speaker B: And I'm not sure if it's Cedric Tillman. I think Isaiah Bond, you know, has all the tools for that before. We'll see.
[01:09:01] Speaker A: Nobody has the tools in Stefanski's offense. Player to watch bone. Who's your player to watch?
[01:09:06] Speaker C: Well, I was gonna say Isaiah Bond.
[01:09:09] Speaker A: But in an effort to not have the same takes over and over and.
[01:09:11] Speaker C: Over again, I'll go to Jerry Judy then because he had another big drop.
[01:09:15] Speaker B: And he really was gonna pick Isaiah.
[01:09:17] Speaker C: He had a couple drops the first. The first game and I think he has a history of dropping the ball.
[01:09:22] Speaker A: He does.
[01:09:23] Speaker C: I would like to see him catch everything this week.
[01:09:25] Speaker A: I think he might catch the ball.
[01:09:27] Speaker C: Downfield, which somebody has to get him the ball there. But let's get some 20 yard plus plays going on in this offense. That'd be great.
[01:09:33] Speaker A: I haven't verified this but I believe Jerry Judy is e number one or number two in the NFL right now and drops.
[01:09:39] Speaker B: So has that not been the most disappointing thing in two weeks in this Joe Flacco led offense is that we haven't seen them stretch the field like that was what was so fun about the five games Joe Flacco played here previously.
[01:09:52] Speaker A: We actually talked about this in the preseason. I think the difference is this is now them coaching to win games. This is now them coaching to not lose their jobs. When Joe Flacco came in the first time reckless, it was just. They just let it loose. They said whatever, whatever happens happens. There's no expectations on us right now. We're just going to go out there and we're going to play backyard football and we're going to win some games or we're not.
[01:10:13] Speaker C: Cooper was a highlight reel for like.
[01:10:14] Speaker A: Four weeks and I think that's what they need to. If you're going to keep Joe Flacco as a quarterback, that's what you need to do. You need to go out there and throw caution to the wind and say just whatever happens happens.
[01:10:24] Speaker B: I mean, it's very similar to Jamis. Right? I mean Jamis played his best here when he Was just slinging it.
[01:10:29] Speaker A: Yeah.
[01:10:30] Speaker B: And I'm going to throw over 400 yards and four touchdowns. I'll probably throw four picks, but hey, guess.
[01:10:35] Speaker A: Guess who's going to be in the game at the end of it? The Browns are.
[01:10:38] Speaker B: The alternative is I don't throw those four picks, but I throw for 190 yards and one touchdown and we score 16 points. Yeah.
[01:10:45] Speaker C: @ least the pick is like a pun at that point. You know, you're bombing it down. There you go. Yeah.
[01:10:50] Speaker A: Phone gets it.
All right, guys.
[01:10:54] Speaker B: Floor.
[01:10:54] Speaker A: All right, guys, that's enough with the, with the depressing Browns weekly preview here. Let's. Let's get into something fun. It's time for King of the North.
All right, we're back here for King of the north. And in case anyone doesn't know by now, this is our year long AFC north pick them competition. At the end of the season, whoever comes in last place gets punished. In the preseason two years ago, Kenny had a gross of eggs thrown at him by fans in the muni lot before a game. The preseason last year, Kenny had his hair and beard shaved clean off.
Coming up for losing this past season, Kenny is going to get hit a few times by John Hughes, our very own John Hughes, who is with us here today.
John, are you excited about this?
[01:11:44] Speaker D: I'm pretty excited, man. I remember when you first asked me about it, man, I was kind of on the fence and, and everything, but thought about some more. I was like, this, this is a chance to kind of, kind of see if I got it still, man. So I'm excited.
[01:11:55] Speaker A: Kenny, you excited?
[01:11:56] Speaker B: The more Jon thought about it, the more he was like, I can't wait to hit this. Son of a.
[01:12:00] Speaker D: Got more and more excited as, as we kept thinking about it, I was like, oh wait, you know what?
[01:12:03] Speaker A: This could be good. I, I know last week, Kenny, you said you're, you're getting less and less excited about this. Is that still the case?
[01:12:10] Speaker B: Look, it is. It is what it is. I said last week, I said let's, let's dance, big fella. Let's do it. Let's do the thing.
[01:12:18] Speaker A: Yeah. So that's coming up.
[01:12:20] Speaker D: Building self confidence at some point just.
[01:12:22] Speaker A: Yeah, we, we do have a date set for that too. So mid October is when we'll be filming that. I'm not sure when that'll come out for everybody else to watch. There's some editing that's involved, but we'll say late October. Ish.
[01:12:35] Speaker B: That depends on how hard John hits me.
[01:12:38] Speaker A: If you're dead there's not gonna be any videos, but yeah, so it seems like you're getting pretty excited for that. And then this year, this year, year, the loser. John, are you ready for this? Because I don't think you've heard it yet. The loser will be getting.
The loser will be getting a Brazilian wax. This year.
[01:12:59] Speaker B: John's like, what did I sign up for?
[01:13:00] Speaker A: Yeah.
So, John, what are your thoughts on this?
[01:13:05] Speaker B: Oh, man.
[01:13:08] Speaker A: Is it. Are you. Are you wondering if it's.
[01:13:12] Speaker D: No, no, no backing out, man.
[01:13:13] Speaker B: A bet's a bet.
[01:13:14] Speaker D: But man, that's.
[01:13:16] Speaker B: That's rough.
[01:13:16] Speaker D: Well, it won't be, but, you know.
[01:13:19] Speaker A: Well, that was, that was my follow up question. And, and you can join in on this, John, because you get the gist of this whole thing. Kenny, are you excited to have a Brazilian wax?
[01:13:26] Speaker B: What's a nut, baby? What's a nut?
[01:13:29] Speaker A: All right. That's the comment I kept hearing.
[01:13:31] Speaker D: Kenny, Kenny, Kenny.
[01:13:32] Speaker A: So, yeah, yeah, absolutely.
[01:13:34] Speaker B: Every year, John's like, I'm not worried. Kenny loses every year.
[01:13:37] Speaker A: He's never won. So. But let's go ahead and get into this thing.
First things first here, I want to remind everybody, Bone is the reigning defending King of the North.
Second reminder, John Hughes is joining King of the north this year. He's here. He's here with us today.
[01:13:55] Speaker D: I'm in it.
[01:13:56] Speaker A: And then, final reminder, Kenny's a clown.
And so let's remind everyone of our current records. After week two, Bone stands at. On top of this thing at four and two two. And then all three of us, me, Kenny, Thunder, and big John Hughes were all tied at 3 and 3. Big John Hughes had a big week this past week.
[01:14:15] Speaker D: I had a strong week, too.
[01:14:17] Speaker C: Oh, yeah.
[01:14:18] Speaker A: And so let's just go. Go ahead and get right into it. This week's games, we'll start with the Ravens. They're staying home and they host Detroit.
[01:14:28] Speaker B: This is where the games start to really matter because we've had division games the last first two weeks. So now all of a sudden we're picking four games.
[01:14:34] Speaker A: Yeah.
[01:14:35] Speaker B: This is where it's interesting. Boy is separated from the men, and.
[01:14:39] Speaker A: Typically that's where Kenny's left at the bottom. So we'll start with John, since it's his first time live with us. Well, not live, but it's his first time on air with us. John, who you got in this game, man?
[01:14:52] Speaker D: So I went back and forth with this one, but I got the Ravens winning this one. Said another game at home for him.
Both of them looked good.
First two weeks or at least the last week week.
And the Lions, I don't know coming into Baltimore is be tough for them and the way their defense was playing, it's going to be a rough day. So I think I got the Ravens bone.
[01:15:15] Speaker C: I'm also going Ravens. I think they're going to have a hard time stopping, stopping Lamar Kenny.
[01:15:22] Speaker B: I mean I'm excited for this game. I'll say. This is one of Monday night football, right?
Lions, Ravens. Look last week I think was a get right game for both teams. Both of them scored a ton of points.
When push comes to shove, I'll go home team. Let's go Ravens.
[01:15:38] Speaker A: Yeah. But I'm also going to go with the Ravens in this one.
Just the the two headed monster that is Lamar Jackson and Derek Henry. The Browns bottled up. Derrick Henry only ran for 23 yards. Didn't matter.
[01:15:51] Speaker B: Didn't matter.
[01:15:52] Speaker A: They still dominated. So it's really hard to, to keep this offense down for, for the whole night. So I'm gonna go Ravens. I like the, the home field advantage as well.
Next up here, Cincinnati travel.
This one's interesting because you know we mentioned earlier in the show Joe Burrow out for possibly three months with turf toe. You got Jake Browning in there. I know Kenny's excited because his girlfriend is always looking good.
[01:16:18] Speaker B: Smoke show.
[01:16:20] Speaker A: And then we got Minnesota who just, just came out. You know we record on Mondays. Just came out today. JJ McCarthy officially ruled out already for that game with an ankle injury.
So both teams without their starting quarterbacks. Jake Browning for the Bengals and he got Wentz is going to be starting for Minnesota.
I'm going Minnesota in this. I think, I think that the Bengals are not very good. That was even when they had Joe Burrow. I think they're not very good.
And I just battle the backups. I think I choose Carson, Carson Wentz over Jake Browning. So yeah, I don't know. Minnesota home team.
Kenny, who you got?
[01:17:04] Speaker B: I'm gonna go Vikings here as well. I think they're the better overall roster.
[01:17:08] Speaker A: I hate start off picking teams as Kenny.
[01:17:11] Speaker B: I'll take Carson Wentz over Jake Browning. Even though Browning's girl is a smoke show. Carson's girl ain't bad.
Maddie Oberg. She's nice.
[01:17:19] Speaker A: You know the names of all of the quarterbacks, girlfriends and wives in the NFL. That's a problem.
[01:17:24] Speaker B: Browning's girl though is just spectacular.
But I'll go Vikings in this one.
[01:17:29] Speaker A: Did you see your outfit this past week?
[01:17:30] Speaker B: Oh my gosh, the orange pants. I mean she's just is like I Said absolutely.
You know, you don't get. You don't get any better than that. I mean, she plays. She plays the role perfectly.
[01:17:40] Speaker A: Yeah, Bone, what do you got in this one? We're talking about the game, not quarterback spot.
[01:17:45] Speaker C: Yeah, this is boring. I'm also going Vikings. Cincinnati had a hard time protecting Burrow. They're going to have a hard time protecting Jake Browning. So, yeah, I think he's gonna get hit a lot.
[01:17:54] Speaker A: John, who you got?
[01:17:56] Speaker D: I hate to jump on the train, but I'm saying Minnesota, too.
Just because, like, you know, like Bo saying, I didn't think they looked well. Well, the first couple weeks and they still got wins. I think they're going to have be on their high horse and Minnesota knock them off.
[01:18:11] Speaker A: All right.
[01:18:11] Speaker B: There's 100 million obese adults in the United States, and Cincinnati Bengals can't find five of them to protect.
[01:18:20] Speaker A: It feels bad. Feels bad. They're. They're kind of in the same boat as the Browns, let's be honest.
Anyways, next up here is Pittsburgh. They're heading out to New England.
Kenny, who you got in this one?
[01:18:30] Speaker B: Look, Brable's got them boys playing pretty good. I'm buying Drake May right now. Two solid performances out of the gate, using his feet to make plays. I'm gonna go. And we really haven't seen Trayvon yet, so I'm gonna go Patriots in this one.
[01:18:46] Speaker A: I'll go next here.
Yeah. I mean, if you would have asked me this a week ago, Mike Tomlin is always the difference for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
But then that whole blunder happened with that rookie kick returner and whatever happened there, and it completely turned the game around. They lost one that they should have won. That I would have. If you would have put them in the same position leading into that kickoff, I would have said 10 times out of 10 that they would have won that game.
And it completely turned it. And it's just something that typically doesn't happen under Mike Tomlin. I'm wondering if they're finally reached a point with the team personnel wise, not necessarily coaching well. I think he's still a great coach. Coach where they just lack the talent to actually, like, he can't make up for it.
[01:19:29] Speaker B: He can't do it.
[01:19:30] Speaker A: And you got Aaron Rodgers, who people like to talk about how he had a good first game where Aaron Rodgers is trash, man. He's. He is not good. He is. We think Joe Flacco looks old. Aaron Rodgers looks ancient.
That guy is bad. So I'm going. I'm gonna Go Patriots in this one.
Bone, who you got, man?
[01:19:49] Speaker C: I. We're gonna be all picking the same teams this week.
I'm going Patriots, too. That was my first instinct. I kind of wanted to pick.
[01:19:56] Speaker A: Come to the Burning River Sportscast over and over and over again and over again.
[01:20:01] Speaker C: Yeah, third in the pecking order, but, yeah, Patriots at home.
[01:20:06] Speaker A: John, who you got?
[01:20:09] Speaker D: I'm gonna go against the grain, man. I'm gonna go. I'll go Pittsburgh on this one.
[01:20:12] Speaker B: And. And.
[01:20:13] Speaker D: And I. And I hate. I hate picking Pittsburgh in anything, but I feel like. Like you were talking about Otama, man. I think he's gonna have these guys ready to. To go after a loss that they. They should have won and, like, kind of just get back on track.
[01:20:27] Speaker B: So.
[01:20:27] Speaker D: Yeah, I got Steelers in this one.
[01:20:29] Speaker A: You're so getting waxed.
And finally, finally, we got the Browns hosting Green Bay.
Bone, you can go first in this one.
[01:20:40] Speaker C: Ah, all right. You guys can all pick the same team as me now.
[01:20:44] Speaker A: There's four of us, and there's four games, so everybody has to pick first.
[01:20:47] Speaker C: I gotta pick Green Bay.
They're just a better team. Jordan loves pretty good, and Browns have had a rough, rough go these last two weeks.
[01:20:55] Speaker A: So what's your score?
[01:20:57] Speaker C: Oh, I got a score. Let's do 33 to 17. Green Bay.
[01:21:01] Speaker A: I didn't. I didn't spell that out at the beginning of the segment, but, yeah. Anybody at home. We give a score for the Browns game, because that's the tiebreaker, is the number of correct scores you pick throughout the season. If there's two people at the bottom, bottom, and somebody picked one score, right. And the other one picked zero, we got a winner. So. Okay, John, who you got in this one?
[01:21:23] Speaker D: Yeah, I'm gonna go packers with this one.
[01:21:27] Speaker A: Just because, like I said.
I said you really want to go Browns, but you can't.
[01:21:33] Speaker D: This is being whack, especially at home, too. But it's. It's just been tough for us already this year. And like you said, the way Jordan Love's been looking, they got. They got a nice offense and defense that's, like I said, looking pretty solid.
[01:21:48] Speaker A: I got.
[01:21:48] Speaker D: I got packers with this one in your score. Oh, and score 24 7.
I feel like our defense, if we can keep them off the field, that. That's just. That's the thing, right?
Our defense plays well, but, you know, if you give them so many plays, right, like, everyone's getting paid out there. At the end of the day, it's not like, you know, you're Just playing against BU So, like, the more opportunities you get. So this is like, if we can keep our defense off the field with less opportunities for their offense, we can figure something out. But I just see it going a different way, and unfortunately, 24 7, you're.
[01:22:23] Speaker A: Telling me we ain't going to figure it out.
Got it.
[01:22:27] Speaker D: We can figure on offense, man. That's the only thing, man. I.
Yeah, yeah.
[01:22:31] Speaker A: So we're averaging 13 points a game over the last eight games.
[01:22:34] Speaker B: John just said if we could just figure out the offense, we'd be okay. That's half the game, John.
[01:22:43] Speaker D: Like a third. Right, because you got to throw in special team. That's.
[01:22:45] Speaker A: That's a big part.
[01:22:46] Speaker D: Ask the Steelers, you know.
[01:22:47] Speaker A: Yeah, that's true. That's true. He got you there. If this was a debate, I'd say point John.
[01:22:51] Speaker B: John played in the NFL. He knows a lot more than me.
[01:22:54] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah.
Kenny, what's, what's your take on this game?
[01:22:58] Speaker B: This is the easiest pick I'll make all week.
Browns aren't good. The packers are.
[01:23:02] Speaker A: We lose. What's the score?
[01:23:06] Speaker B: I'm gonna go 27:13.
[01:23:08] Speaker A: Nice. Not nice that we're gonna lose, but then I'm last up here. I also have Green Bay. No surprise there.
Listen, it's gonna be a really, really long season for the Browns. I'm not, I'm not ready to say, like, are we gonna win any games? But on the, On Sunday Night show, I mean, I, I made it known. I said we. Our window, my window. I don't care who's starting a quarterback the rest of the season. Our window is three to five games. That's what we're gonna do to win. If we start Joe Flacco the whole season, we win five. If we start the rookies, we win three. And that's just where we're at. So, yeah, an easy pick. I'm going Green Bay, and I got him 2414.
[01:23:47] Speaker B: So, John, can I ask you a question?
[01:23:51] Speaker A: Oh, boy.
[01:23:53] Speaker D: What you got?
[01:23:54] Speaker B: Can we. I, I'm. I know we're not doing the defensive correspondence segment, but I just wanted to kind of get your NFL hat.
[01:24:00] Speaker D: Okay.
[01:24:01] Speaker B: First, second. I mean, starting 02.
I mean, how much of. Of the reality of what we're feeling, which is this is going to be a long season, is. Is going on in that locker room right now? I mean, as a player that's starting 0 and 2 and knowing it's been a difficult 02. I mean, how much of that just impacts the locker room? And like, how do Guys, stay motivated.
[01:24:27] Speaker D: It's. It's tough. It's still early And I remember those 02 starts where you still had that, that confidence, that morale, like we can turn it around. We still got time. Right. It starts to fade when you're getting into like mid season and you know, obviously towards the end of the season I, you know, was looking up vacations in the beginning of December when I played.
So I.
But yeah, in the beginning it's, it's. It's tough to say, you know, it's, it's one of those like, you know, we put in all this work in training camp and OTAs, like, like, you know, I be damned if we fall right now in week three, you know what I mean? So you have to be able to have that self confidence, but you start to feel it, like I said, after a while.
[01:25:08] Speaker A: Yeah. And just to add on to that question from, from Kenny, I mean, what as a player, John, how does, what kind of toll does this take on you, you know, losing not only game after game in a given season, but year after year. What does that do to you as a player?
[01:25:24] Speaker D: Yeah, that's a good question, man. So it takes a toll on, on the players, man, for sure. I never forget, man, it was, was my fourth year and this was when the Rams were still in St. Louis and we had played them in St. Louis and I was on the team bus after the game. And this is after, you know, year after year of, of losing seasons. Right. And it was another, you know, close game. We were winning and then we lost at the end. And I never forget, man, I started breaking down crying out of nowhere on the team bus. Like, guys are kind of looking at me crazy. Some guys felt me kind of, you know, you know, tap my back a little bit, but it's that emotional kind of damage that, you know, losing time and time after again. You know, when, when the game's over, fans, you know, they're mad or whatever and, and you know, they're, they might have something to say on, on Sunday night or Monday. But you know, for players, man, we're looking at this as our, our jobs at stake now, especially, you know, as it keeps going on like they're going to try to clean house and figure it out. So, you know, that's, that's more of our, you know, guys careers being changed at the point.
[01:26:24] Speaker A: Yeah, and just the weight of that, I mean is.
I can't even imagine. I mean, I, you know, I've never not played well in a football game and been fired so you know, does. And I mean, psychologically, did they provide.
Did they actually, like, bring anybody in to, like, help you guys through these times or anything?
[01:26:43] Speaker D: You say that, man, I want to say after.
It might. It might have been, like, that year or the year after. No, matter of fact, I think it was my fifth year. They had brought a psychologist into the building, like, literally was like, right down the hall from the locker room, and guys were like, schedule meetings and talk. So, I mean, like, it's. It's crazy to think that, you know, when. When you're. When you're talking about football, right, People are like, oh, well, how do the players, you know, feel about these losses? Or how do, you know, like, how does it really impact them? You know, obviously, we know what it does physically over time, right? But mentally, with. With the losses, like, what does it do?
[01:27:18] Speaker A: Yeah, no, I mean, that's. That's pretty crazy. And actually, it makes me curious now not to make light of this if the Browns are the only ones with.
I was thinking the same on staff. They said, we've seen enough players break down. We need to do something about this.
And again, not to make light of the situation, John, like, I feel for you. That's. That's terrible having to go through that. And I mean, you know, I know there's gonna be a lot of people out there. They're gonna say, it's just a game, it's just football. But like you said, it's your livelihood. And, I mean, that's a lot of stress. I can only imagine facing the. The, you know, possibility of losing my job tomorrow. So.
[01:27:55] Speaker D: Yeah, yeah. I mean, at the end of the day, it's, you know, you got audience said, man, you got. You got guys that. That really care, and the guys that really care, not just about, like, making the money, but, like, their competitors that at heart and want to win, like, it's even more damaging. You know what I mean? Like, for me, like, coming from Cincinnati, from the plan, in. In college, college for the Bearcats, man, like, we had really good teams, man. Like, I wasn't losing wasn't really, like, a thing that we did, right. You know, came off of three Biggie championships and two BCS appearances, you know, so coming into Cleveland, man, you know, I wanted to change. Change the script there and, you know, or be a part of it, right? So that was one of those things, like, year after year, it's like, man, what is it like, really? What is it like that, you know, if you ask anybody in Cleveland, that's the million dollar Question.
[01:28:41] Speaker A: Yeah, I feel for you, John. Every, every draft pick wants to come in here and change things and.
[01:28:45] Speaker D: You know what I mean?
[01:28:46] Speaker B: Intimate perspective on the, the humanity behind the game, which we don't often talk about.
[01:28:51] Speaker A: Yeah. Real quick. You mentioned Cincinnati and winning a lot. You played with the Kelsey brothers, didn't you? Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[01:28:56] Speaker D: So Jason was a year over me and Travis was a year under me.
[01:29:00] Speaker A: Well, we've scoops the. We've officially scooped the Kelsey brothers. We got this story from John before they did. So, you know, I'm not saying our podcast is better, I'm just saying, saying it's, you know.
[01:29:13] Speaker D: They'Re doing all right for themselves.
[01:29:15] Speaker A: Yeah.
[01:29:17] Speaker B: Marrying a billionaire princess, it's fine.
[01:29:20] Speaker A: Oh, I got a however many hundred million dollar deal for my podcast. Oh, yeah, no, John, thank you so much for sharing that. I mean, it does. It. It truly does give a, A different perspective to all the fans as we think about what it means, you know, all of the losing and clicking Cleveland, not only what we're going through, but what you guys are going through, so.
[01:29:39] Speaker D: Oh, yeah, man. Most definitely, man.
[01:29:41] Speaker B: It's.
[01:29:41] Speaker D: I feel like, you know, fans didn't understand that like for the players, it's, you know, we want to win just as bad or, you know, most times more. You know what I mean? Because we have a lot more at stake at the end of the day, you know, between getting paid, obviously, but then having a roster spot, you know, our livelihood, so.
[01:29:58] Speaker A: And what was your quote on Sunday night's show? The last time the Browns. Browns went 4, 0 in the preseason. Last time they went undefeated in the preseason and started 0 and 2 was 2017. In case anyone was wondering what happened.
[01:30:11] Speaker D: That year, it wasn't good.
[01:30:14] Speaker A: Yeah. So hopefully we're not on our way.
But John, hey, thanks so much for joining us for King of the North. We hope to have you on again real soon. And, and thank you for even though we didn't prepare, you taking a defensive correspondent question for us.
Until next time, John.
[01:30:32] Speaker D: I appreciate you guys, man. Hey, I would say good luck, man, but I'm not trying to get that Brazilian, so I'll see you.
[01:30:39] Speaker B: Later.
[01:30:39] Speaker A: John, Take it easy, man. It was great having John virtually in the studio today for, for this, this segment. So.
And also just, just a.
Didn't expect to really get into that with the insight on.
On, you know, players perspective as far as how they feel when the Browns continue to lose not only game after game, but year after year.
It was really interesting to hear his perspective on it.
[01:31:05] Speaker B: I thought I couldn't get any more depressed as a Browns fan.
[01:31:07] Speaker A: Oh, I'm sad right now.
[01:31:08] Speaker B: And then John just brought me all the way down.
[01:31:10] Speaker A: It's like, not only are we hurting, but you guys are hurting, too, to the point where it's affecting, like, literally affecting your mental health.
[01:31:17] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah. No, I mean, I appreciate the insight from John.
You know, it's. We don't talk about that a lot as fans, just the humanity behind the game, which is like, for us, this is entertainment. This is our distraction from the work week and from everything, you know, bad going on in the world is, you know, getting wrapped up in a football game on Sunday and just kind of forgetting about everything else. And, you know, at the end of the day, like, these are. These are real people out there with family and friends and kids and, you know, they're out there playing for their. For their livelihood each week. So. Yeah, appreciate the insight. The Browns still suck, so it doesn't change the.
All those things just make me more sad by the moment. But what are you gonna do?
[01:31:59] Speaker A: Yeah, Bone, how'd you feel about it?
[01:32:02] Speaker C: I just liked how he humanized it all because it's.
[01:32:04] Speaker B: Yeah, you.
[01:32:04] Speaker C: You don't necessarily always think about that. You'll just be this player's trash. This player's trash.
[01:32:08] Speaker A: But it's like, I'm still gonna say that.
[01:32:09] Speaker C: Additionally, not every player out there is making 50. 50 million dollar contracts either. So it's like, I mean, sure, they're making a great wage for what they do, but exactly like you said, it's like their livelihood on the line. You're living somewhere, you've established your family there, and then it's just like, well, you're cut. You're going to the next squad the next year.
[01:32:27] Speaker B: So, yeah, in an instant, you can be moved across the country.
[01:32:29] Speaker C: It ain't easy to move. I moved 10 away, and it wasn't. It wasn't easy.
[01:32:34] Speaker A: Moving's the worst, man.
We were only 20. 20 minutes away.
[01:32:38] Speaker B: There you go.
[01:32:39] Speaker A: Yeah. Thanks for helping me, by the way.
[01:32:41] Speaker C: Yeah, no problem, good friend.
[01:32:42] Speaker A: You weren't there.
[01:32:43] Speaker B: You didn't call me.
[01:32:44] Speaker A: I knew you wouldn't answer the phone.
You'd be like, oh, you need help moving? I'm busy.
[01:32:49] Speaker B: That's true, I'm busy.
[01:32:51] Speaker A: But with that, let me remind everybody, call the Burger Sportscast call and leave your hot takes on the hot take outline.

[01:34:48] Speaker B: Hey, Facts for days.
[01:35:01] Speaker A: Kenny, what do you got for us today?
[01:35:04] Speaker B: I got some facts for days.
[01:35:06] Speaker A: I'm excited. Are they whale facts?
[01:35:08] Speaker B: Not whale facts, damn it.
[01:35:09] Speaker A: I'm less excited.
[01:35:10] Speaker B: We are going to talk about a large human you.
[01:35:13] Speaker C: Cool.
[01:35:15] Speaker B: Thank you.
[01:35:15] Speaker A: Lost 60 pounds but you're still fat.
[01:35:17] Speaker B: That was me six years and 600 pounds ago, the fool.
Facts for days. Number one, this is actually a riddle.
[01:35:26] Speaker A: Oh, for you. That's not a fact then.
[01:35:28] Speaker B: But it comes with the fact. Okay, the 22nd and 24th presidents of the United States of America had the same parents but were not brothers.
How is this possible?
[01:35:49] Speaker A: One was adopted.
I don't know.
[01:35:51] Speaker B: You're wrong, Bone.
[01:35:53] Speaker C: I feel like that's the best guess. I, I, I would have to say adoption. But you already said he was wrong.
[01:36:02] Speaker A: I have no idea what to say.
[01:36:05] Speaker B: Bone is flabbergasted.
I'll tell you, okay, the answer.
They're the same, man.
[01:36:14] Speaker A: Oh, I knew this. There was, there was a gap.
I knew this.
[01:36:18] Speaker B: Grover Cleveland. Grover was one of our largest presidents at 275 pounds. It's amazing that that was really, really large back in the time.
That's just the average man. Now you eat him for breakfast.
He was often called.
I don't eat breakfast anymore. He was often called Big Steve.
[01:36:40] Speaker A: That makes sense because it' first name was Steven.
[01:36:44] Speaker B: Apparently he got tired of being called Steven Cleveland.
[01:36:50] Speaker A: Yeah, I get it.
[01:36:53] Speaker B: So I bet you didn't see this coming. We're just going all in on Grover Cleveland facts today. Boy, oh, boy.
[01:37:01] Speaker A: I never thought we could do a segment on Grover Cleveland facts because, like, the interesting one is always fdr. He was a wild, He's, You've done FDR facts before, actually, and he was kind of an eccentric dude.
[01:37:11] Speaker B: But I did not do FDR or.
[01:37:15] Speaker A: I'm sorry, Teddy Roosevelt. Teddy Roosevelt. I misspoke. It was Teddy Roosevelt.
[01:37:19] Speaker B: Tr.
[01:37:19] Speaker A: Yeah. Tr. Anyways, go on Grover Cleveland. Let's.
[01:37:22] Speaker B: Number two. Cleveland won the first presidential election by the narrowest of margins.
Two votes that would have been really thin.
You may remember, you know, 2000 was hanging Chad. Hanging chads. No hanging chads. Here was a win, though, by just 1200 votes in his adopted home state of New York. That swung the Electoral College in 1884, the second time around. Second election, I should say. Cleveland actually won the popular vote, but big spending by the Republicans swung the electoral vote in New York away from Cleveland. And Benjamin Hannah Harrison took home the electoral college vote in the presidency.
So that was the in between.
Okay, so that's fact number two.
[01:38:12] Speaker A: He won by Just leave us hanging. We don't know what happened in the third. One win in the landslide.
[01:38:17] Speaker B: He did win in a landslide, actually.
[01:38:19] Speaker A: I know my history. What can I say?
[01:38:21] Speaker B: I think he, I think he won 240 or 200. 275 electoral votes. Like 140 or something. It was, it was a landslide the last time around.
[01:38:29] Speaker A: Yeah.
Everybody know that?
[01:38:35] Speaker B: Number three.
[01:38:36] Speaker A: Number three.
This is where things get wickety, okay? I'm here for it.
[01:38:43] Speaker B: Stay with me on this one, Cleveland.
I love his name is because of Cleveland Brown. I get it.
[01:38:50] Speaker A: Yeah.
[01:38:51] Speaker B: Cleveland was the only president to be married whilst in the White House.
He wed Francis Folsom at the age of 49.
Here's where things get weird.
Francis Folsom was Grover's law partner, Oscar Folsom's daughter.
It's said that Grover knew her since birth and watched her grow. Grow up.
[01:39:24] Speaker A: It's getting creepy.
[01:39:25] Speaker B: It's got to get worse.
[01:39:26] Speaker A: Oh, no.
[01:39:27] Speaker B: In fact, Oscar Folsom died when she was 11.
[01:39:30] Speaker A: Oh, God.
[01:39:31] Speaker B: Turns out he didn't have a will.
Grover, being the, you know, legal resident expert at the time, inherited the estate and essentially helped her and her mom manage their finances.
What became a controversial sticking point in the presidential campaign was rumor of Grover's illegitimate child, Oscar Folsom. Cleveland.
[01:40:00] Speaker A: That's not ambiguous at all.
[01:40:03] Speaker B: It's gonna get weirder.
[01:40:04] Speaker A: Oh, God.
[01:40:05] Speaker B: With no DNA evidence to confirm, Grover did provide for the child early on.
And while he had publicly admitted to the tryst, he maintained that he could not be sure the child was his because of his intimate knowledge of said woman's relations with another man.
At the same time, his law partner, Oscar Folsom.
[01:40:34] Speaker A: Wait, her dad?
[01:40:38] Speaker B: Her dad?
[01:40:39] Speaker D: He didn't.
[01:40:39] Speaker B: He didn't marry that child. But it's weird because apparently Grover and Oscar were just banging meat at the same time with the same woman.
[01:40:50] Speaker A: Oh, no.
[01:40:52] Speaker B: Leading us to the conclusion that we're not really sure who the dad is.
[01:40:56] Speaker A: Listen, I'm gonna be honest with you. I thought you were talking about the. The kid was the daughter's kid. Like you were saying the. The threesome happened with her dad.
That's. Where did you think that's where he went with that? Yeah, that's where I thought he was. Was saying.
[01:41:11] Speaker B: I mean, just the circumstances around all of it are weird. It's all weird.
[01:41:16] Speaker A: I'm glad you clarified that. Is not that guy. Really.
[01:41:18] Speaker B: Mar. Child.
[01:41:20] Speaker A: Okay, I got you.
[01:41:21] Speaker B: Did marry.
[01:41:22] Speaker A: Still. Still weird. But go on.
[01:41:23] Speaker B: You know, his. His.
[01:41:24] Speaker A: I'm clarifying for everyone at home. They're all thinking the same thing I was. They're like, wait, wait, dad, daughter in law, partner didn't.
[01:41:31] Speaker B: Didn't marry, but was. Was banging meat with her dad at the same time.
[01:41:36] Speaker A: The same illegitimate child was with somebody completely else.
[01:41:39] Speaker B: Yes.
[01:41:39] Speaker A: Gotcha.
[01:41:40] Speaker B: Okay, so the scandal that was characterized by the Republican cartoon mama, where's my PA for the little orphan child.
[01:41:50] Speaker A: So classy.
[01:41:50] Speaker B: Grover never shied away from the possibility, though, and instructed his team to, above all, tell the truth. And this admission was rewarded with his first trip to the Oval Office, Uncle Cleave and Frank, as they affectionately called each other, were married on June 2, 1880. 1986. Beauty and the beast of Buffalo, Grover Cleveland. My friends, who knew.
[01:42:20] Speaker C: All of our.
[01:42:20] Speaker A: Listeners, now we all know. We all know the story.
Are you guys here about Grover Cleveland?
[01:42:27] Speaker B: It is weird that he married his.
[01:42:30] Speaker A: Friend'S daughter, who was 11 at the time, way younger, started taking care of.
[01:42:34] Speaker B: Her, and he started taking care of her.
[01:42:35] Speaker C: It's like a Woody Allen story.
[01:42:37] Speaker B: Like, the. Was basically like her ward.
[01:42:40] Speaker A: I just feel icky right now.
[01:42:42] Speaker C: It's like a Woody Allen story, but you didn't, like, flee the country. You became president.
[01:42:48] Speaker A: Yeah.
[01:42:48] Speaker B: And he was also having romantic tris with her dad.
[01:42:52] Speaker A: Yeah. Isn't. Isn't Roman Polanski another one of those that left the country? That's, like, real weird with, like, young girls.
[01:42:57] Speaker B: I don't think we want to go down to Roman Polanski wrote on this podcast.
[01:43:00] Speaker A: No.
[01:43:00] Speaker B: Yeah, probably not.
[01:43:01] Speaker A: Okay.
[01:43:02] Speaker B: Probably for another day.
[01:43:03] Speaker A: Just asking a question.
[01:43:04] Speaker B: That's probably not one we want to do facts on.
[01:43:06] Speaker A: All right.
All right. With all that being said, Grover Cleveland, my friend Cleveland.
[01:43:10] Speaker B: Facts for days.
[01:43:11] Speaker A: Bone, how do you feel?
[01:43:14] Speaker C: Yeah, I need to go sleep this one off.
