The greatest time of the year. Well, besides Christmas and summer and my birthday. Mondays and Thursdays and sometimes Wednesdays and sometimes Fridays and even Saturdays. But always on Sundays from now until February, there is football on tv. Running, jumping, throwing, catching, velocity, pressure, pain and triumph await. As Sticks said, these are the best of times. Unfortunately for you, that means the Browns are back and you're stuck spending a few hours with us each week. And if they haven't already, we are sure to ruin your mood. While the rest of the NFL is busy playing football, our hometown team will spend the next 18 weeks infuriating you, figuring out new ways to lose and disappoint you. You'll see unnecessary political power struggles, dumbfounding press conference, head scratching calls, even worse personnel decisions, and my absolute favorite petty impersonal vendettas carried out on live national television. And we're here for it every step of the way. So sit the hell down, grab some snacks and pour something stiff, preferably from your favorite local distillery, the Old Topaz Distillery. Because while this may not be the year this franchise has its head surgically removed from its own ass. There is hope. And that day is coming. And when it finally does, we'll be here for that, too. All right, so today for the news story of the week, Kawhi Leonard and the Clippers, they're in trouble, huh?
[00:07:06] Kenny Thunder: Bad deal for them.
[00:07:08] Ronnie Jams: Tell us about it, Kenny.
[00:07:09] Kenny Thunder: So essentially I don't have like all the details on exactly what happened, but
[00:07:14] Ronnie Jams: there was apparently we're not a basketball podcast.
[00:07:16] Kenny Thunder: There's apparently an endorsement deal that was like under the table money that they used to circumnavigate the CBA and the NBA's cap rules. That would be the LA Clippers. That sounds bad for Kawhi Leonard. And so the NBA came down hard on him.
[00:07:31] Speaker C: Hard.
[00:07:32] Kenny Thunder: So hard.
Kawhi first off was fined 700,000 dol but was not levied a Suspension. But the Clippers themselves.
[00:07:41] Ronnie Jams: Hold on. Before we even go any further, how do you get away with not getting a suspension?
[00:07:45] Kenny Thunder: He, to be fair, he basically played the.
It wasn't me. It was on my handler's.
[00:07:52] The Bone Man: Cardani.
[00:07:55] Kenny Thunder: Yeah, yeah. Which.
[00:07:56] Ronnie Jams: The choice. Which like I need a translator. I have no idea what's happening.
[00:07:59] Kenny Thunder: Which probably any one of us would do right. In the same situation. So is what it is. But ultimately, the Clippers themselves were fined by having to forfeit five first round draft picks consecutively. That's a lot spanning from 2029 to 2033.
[00:08:17] Ronnie Jams: The Clippers are going to be the basement of the NBA for a long time.
[00:08:20] Kenny Thunder: Lawrence Frank, the president of basketball operations was suspended for six months. Jillian Zucker, the president of business operations was suspended for one year. And Clippers owner Steve Ballmer was suspended for one year from all team operations and fined $30 million.
[00:08:37] Ronnie Jams: Now that's a lot of money.
[00:08:38] The Bone Man: That's a lot of money.
[00:08:39] Ronnie Jams: That's a lot more than 700, 000.
[00:08:41] Kenny Thunder: And the NBA essentially said this could have been a lot worse. But because the Clippers cooperated and didn't want to take this through arbitration, that was all they would do. But basically, basically like a plea deal arrangement for the Clippers to accept accountability and say our bad. We kind of.
[00:09:01] Speaker E: We.
[00:09:01] Kenny Thunder: We broke the rules. We knew it.
[00:09:05] The Bone Man: I feel like the NBA is already pretty lax on like paying players. There's like luxury tax this or that, like you can pay everybody extra and just pay a fine at the end of the year or something.
[00:09:13] Kenny Thunder: Or there's a lot of Andrew Berrying going around in the NBA.
[00:09:17] Ronnie Jams: I don't understand salary caps basically outside of the NFL, I don't under understand salary or lack of salary caps. We get into like the MLB because
[00:09:25] Kenny Thunder: they're the only one that really has one. And even their rules have been loosened to an extent in the NFL.
I mean we've seen them rework the desean Watson contract about five times.
[00:09:35] The Bone Man: Right.
[00:09:35] Kenny Thunder: Pay him, you know, whatever. Bonuses really tricky. They're really tricky. But. But I guess the question is like if you're going to break the rules as they are stated, is this fitting punishment or should it have been worse?
[00:09:51] Ronnie Jams: I mean, I don't know. I almost feel like it should have been worse. Like obviously they didn't, but what if the Clippers would have won a championship because of this?
[00:09:57] Kenny Thunder: Well, that's what I'm saying, right? Like is this, is this, is this fair? Like, yeah, I mean, no, I mean that whether it's $30,000 or $30,000,000 if you're Steve Ballmer. What's really the difference?
[00:10:07] Ronnie Jams: Yeah, I say that all, but I also think that the NCAA is real stupid for, like.
I guess it's different, though, because they're not. Like, most of the time when people get in trouble in the ncaa, you're not actively cheating. Unless you're that team up north, those bunch of idiots.
[00:10:21] Kenny Thunder: They cheated a lot.
[00:10:22] Ronnie Jams: Yeah. But besides them, like, you're not actually cheating. It's. It's like Ohio State had players sell their trophies for money or whatever they did.
[00:10:30] Kenny Thunder: It was more like misconduct.
[00:10:31] Ronnie Jams: Yeah. So I'm usually against, like, oh, we're going to take away your titles or your death penalty. Yeah. Like, that doesn't make any sense to me, but I guess that's apples and oranges because, like you said, that's conduct versus actually cheating. I do think, like, the. The Houston Astros should have been stripped of some titles for their cheating. So.
And I think they should have gotten much stricter penalties when. When everything came out that, like, yeah, they legitimately cheated themselves to a championship.
[00:11:01] Kenny Thunder: I mean, it's just interesting when these things come up because it brings up question right. About like, the Astros and their whole thing and whether they were punished appropriately, like, which doesn't. It feels like they got off light.
[00:11:14] Ronnie Jams: Yeah. Yeah. Real light.
[00:11:16] Kenny Thunder: Five draft picks for five consecutive years.
[00:11:18] Ronnie Jams: That's a lot.
[00:11:19] Kenny Thunder: Is. Is a lot. I mean, basically, now, if you are the Clippers, your window is. Is now because.
[00:11:25] Ronnie Jams: And they just traded away some people didn't.
[00:11:26] Kenny Thunder: They don't win now. You don't really have a way to rebuild for. They do have years, I think so.
[00:11:35] Speaker C: Great.
[00:11:35] Ronnie Jams: He's probably gonna be injured.
Yeah, I.
I would say it's probably not enough.
[00:11:43] Kenny Thunder: Yeah.
[00:11:44] Ronnie Jams: Honestly, like, that's like, my gut reaction is it's not enough. It should have been worse. And. And I don't really, like, I. I don't really understand this whole. Well, you. You cooperated, so we're gonna be easy on you. Like, like, like, if you bring the hammer down right now, nobody's again.
[00:11:59] Speaker C: Well, does it.
[00:12:00] Kenny Thunder: I guess, does it feel like this is strict enough that other teams won't? Because you do realize then if you get caught, you're going to forfeit five to seven years of, like, building a team.
[00:12:08] Ronnie Jams: Well, I guess there's always the thought in the back of other teams, heads of, will it be worse for us since it's already happened once?
I don't know. I think it should have been worse. That's. That's that was my gut reaction session. I'm sticking with.
[00:12:22] Kenny Thunder: I kind of agree. What if. What I do think is interesting is
[00:12:24] Ronnie Jams: that I think Kawhi should have got suspended.
[00:12:27] Kenny Thunder: That you can even really get in trouble for this kind of thing in the NBA. In a world where, you know, when LeBron becomes a free agent, he's kind of like, hey, guys, he wants to come with me. Like, where, Where. Where do we draw the line to collusion and inappropriate behavior?
[00:12:41] Ronnie Jams: Collusion has always been blurry in the. In the NBA because they, like, tweeted each other. They're like, come play with me. It's like, is that okay? Is that allowed?
[00:12:49] The Bone Man: Yeah. I think you look at it like this. They got Browns, but they saved $200 million
[00:12:56] Kenny Thunder: and they still have a player that's actually decent.
[00:12:58] The Bone Man: Yeah, they get to keep their player.
[00:13:00] Kenny Thunder: He's not an absolute bust.
[00:13:01] Ronnie Jams: Yeah, yeah, that's true.
[00:13:04] Kenny Thunder: It was just big news. Thought it was worth talking about.
[00:13:07] Ronnie Jams: I wish it would have been worse.
[00:13:10] Kenny Thunder: I'm with you. I think they should have taken him out of the league. Put in the. What was Will Ferrell's team.

All right, guys, it's time to get into the Browns breed.
All right, before we get too far into the Browns brief, Kenny has something to say. After assistant GM Katherine Hickman's viral press conference this past week, Kenny, what do you have to say?
[00:16:40] Kenny Thunder: I. I wouldn't quite frame it like that.
[00:16:42] Ronnie Jams: That's how I'm framing it.
[00:16:44] Kenny Thunder: I think this was. This was newsworthy. Right. Katherine Hickman came to the podium this week to offer some remarks and happened to be wearing a sweatshirt that said Los Angeles made me do it.
Which just kind of felt like an unkind reminder about the Miles Garrett trade. Like that. No one needed, like, hey, don't forget
[00:17:06] Ronnie Jams: we traded this guy to la.
[00:17:08] Kenny Thunder: I just, you know, it just didn't make a lot of sense. But. But I. I took issue with this on two fronts. One, specifically with. With Ms. Mary K. Cabot. The plane Dealer.
[00:17:18] Ronnie Jams: She's just such a fine reporter, you know what I'm saying?
[00:17:20] Kenny Thunder: Because, because I heard her talking about this and, and basically what came off is like how dare you question this successful, accomplished female executive who has a law degree and is very accomplished in NFL circles that we would be talking about her clothes, which made it like, like we leaned into sexism where it really wasn't a sexist thing. Right? Like I could care less that it was a sweater that was in tatters. Like you're on a football field. Like I get like the worn ripped up. Like that didn't bother me vintage. What bothered me is you have an executive for the Cleveland Browns wearing a logo T shirt with another NFL football city's team name or city on it.
And it's just unnecessary. Like if you're going to say this woman is so smart and so accomplished, how is she so self unaware that she wouldn't think that maybe this is going to cause a stir. Like you live in NFL front offices. Half of your job is pr. You are visible to the public and you are a representative of a multi billion dollar company.
And to me it's a failure from, from the top down too. Right? Because like how does on day one when Jimmy Haslam makes his. His hires not just provide a stipend and say here's five or $10,000, go wild in the team store. Buy yourself some branded Cleveland Browns merchandise because you work here.
[00:18:55] Ronnie Jams: Wait, you mean to tell me because they work for the team, they should wear the team's logo?
[00:18:59] Kenny Thunder: Yes. I think that is an absolute responsibility for the people that work for the Cleveland Browns organization.
[00:19:04] The Bone Man: Seems appropriate, huh?
[00:19:06] Kenny Thunder: I mean it wasn't like you wore a Nike Golf polo. You wore a shirt that said Los Angeles on it, which she could have
[00:19:12] Ronnie Jams: that' that would have much better.
[00:19:14] Kenny Thunder: Pretty much anything other than what you wore wouldn't have drawn any questions whatsoever.
[00:19:18] Ronnie Jams: I can think of a few things, but no, I, I'm with you. I just, it's, it's like you said, it's just tone deaf. It's, it's. We just got smacked in the face with the trade a few weeks ago. Let's just go ahead and give it. You guys don't see it coming. Here's the left hook to follow it up.
[00:19:35] Kenny Thunder: I mean my, my issue with it again is like this would. There was no element of sexism here. Right. If Todd Monkin had come to the podium with a Los Angeles made me do, I also would have been like, what the hell Todd? Why are you wearing a Los Angeles sweater. Especially after we're weeks removed from a very, you know, unpopular trade with of your best player of the face of your franchise. Right. Like, it. It just is so tone deaf. It just reeks of everything else that is tone deaf about this organization.

[00:20:09] Ronnie Jams: As time goes on, Todd Monken reminds me more and more of Sleepy Joe.
[00:20:13] Kenny Thunder: He didn't even do it.
[00:20:15] Ronnie Jams: I know, but just every time he talks of like, is. Is Joe Biden our head coach?
[00:20:20] Kenny Thunder: I just love how Mary Kay immediately took it.
[00:20:22] Ronnie Jams: You see it? You see a bone?
[00:20:24] The Bone Man: I do see it. Yeah.
[00:20:25] Kenny Thunder: Like, you can't, like, you can't question her because she's a woman. She could have worn anything else. Why did she have to wear that?
[00:20:32] The Bone Man: And you're not questioning like the, the, the. The fashion of it. You're questioning the message that she deliberately wore.

[00:20:39] The Bone Man: Was it national TV or is the local press or whatever?
[00:20:42] Ronnie Jams: Nobody said, like, why the hell did you wear that sweatshirt? It looks like shit. They said, why would you wear a sweatshirt that says Los Angeles on it?

[00:20:50] Kenny Thunder: Like, I have no problem with my execs on a. In a football program coming to the podium in a sweatshirt. Or like, casual wear. That's fine. Like, wear your tracksuit. That's fine. But wear A Cleveland Browns 1.

I don't work for the Cleveland Browns. Yet every. Every Monday when I record, I show up in Cleveland Browns gear.

[00:22:07] Kenny Thunder: Yeah, I just, there was a lot of commentary this week as, as time has gone on after the quarterback conversation because a lot of the contention was like a lot of people were asking Todd, like, hey, did you take into consideration the fans and their reaction when you made this quarterback conversation, this quarterback decision? And he basically said, who would I be if I were to let the fans dictate to me who should play for us? Which like, in and of itself isn't an incorrect statement. Right, that's what I wanted to clarify. Like, no, I don't want Todd Monkin listening to fan polls to figure out who should start at left guard. Like that's not.
[00:22:40] Ronnie Jams: Season would probably go pretty much the same. Let's be honest.
[00:22:43] Kenny Thunder: That's fair. Like, that's, I don't want my head coach taking cues from the fans when it comes to like where, where they should be playing people and, and, and how. But this situation, this particular situation with desean Watson is not like any other personnel decision that Todd Monken will ever make or that anyone has ever made as a head coach of a football team because this is it. It's so unprecedented. You have such a highly volatile reaction and relationship with this fan base because of, not only is he a bad player, I mean, what was that contract, seven years fully guaranteed. The guy has played in 19 games and in 19 games he hasn't been good one time. And that doesn't even take into account the fact that he's not a very good human. This is a guy that was suspended, remember? Suspended by the NFL, suspended from his job for sexual misconduct.
So if you have a spectrum, let's say we all live on this spectrum of criminal to law abiding citizen. He's as close to criminal as you can get without being one that's like, that's, that's.

So no, this doesn't look like any other personnel decision Todd Monkin is going to make as an NFL head coach and it has to be treated as such. And I think you also have to take into account full body of work. I mean, for you to get up on stage and say, this guy gives me the best chance to win. You can't just use your eyes for the training camp.

[00:27:07] Ronnie Jams: So it came up just over the last week or so. The news kind of came out that Mike hall was away from practice for quite a bit of time.
And nobody really knew.
[00:27:16] Kenny Thunder: I think 10 practices.
[00:27:17] Ronnie Jams: Yeah, nobody really knew why. Like, it was like personal reason. Like, I don't know what it was listed as, but he was. He was away from practice. Was he with the tight end, maybe Joe Royer? Yeah. But anyways, the news came out that in training camp at some point there was an altercation at practice. And basically what happened is Mike hall got tied up with one of the. One of the offensive players seemed to be injured, kind of stopped on the play, started to bend over, and Judkins just came in and leveled him.
[00:27:46] Kenny Thunder: As running backs do.
[00:27:48] Ronnie Jams: Yeah. And I mean, this is just like typical football. Like, this is the stuff that happens in practice.
Well, it escalated over the course of
[00:27:55] Kenny Thunder: however long, I think it's important to point out. So there's like kind of two different tellings of this story. Right. Like, there's the Mike hall version, which is I was banged up on a play and got hit. And then there's the like, real time as it's happening. Quinte, Sean's just making a play in practice.
[00:28:09] Ronnie Jams: You saw a guy just saw a
[00:28:10] Kenny Thunder: guy in his gap and said, I got to do my job.
[00:28:12] Ronnie Jams: Yeah, yeah. But anyway, so like, there was an altercation at practice right when it happened. And then it kind of kept escalating.
Apparently there was a fist fight in the locker room at some point. And then I could say is is
[00:28:24] Kenny Thunder: this goes on to a lot of this. More is is rumor Mill.
[00:28:27] Ronnie Jams: Yeah.
[00:28:27] Kenny Thunder: Like, some of this unsubstantiated.
[00:28:29] Ronnie Jams: This is all alleged. This entire story is alleged. I will lead with that.
[00:28:32] Kenny Thunder: Well, the. The altercation of practice happened.
[00:28:34] Ronnie Jams: That happened.
[00:28:35] Kenny Thunder: But the. After the rest of it were kind of just he said, she said, said. But generally where there's smoke, there's fire, so. So something additional extra curricular happens. Yeah.
[00:28:44] Ronnie Jams: And so at some point after the fist fight in the locker room, Mike hall allegedly was sent home because he headed towards his car talking about getting a firearm to settle things. I don't even know if I'm allowed to say that, but he was. He was heading to his car to get a weapon to settle things.
Just a perfectly normal thing for a guy who's never been in trouble for violence, especially gun violence in his past to say, like, just absolute normal.
I don't know. Like. Like, what are we doing?
[00:29:16] Kenny Thunder: I mean, these are the types of stories that you hope you have coming out of camp.

[00:29:19] Kenny Thunder: As you head into the season, you're hoping that guys on your team just don't get along.

[00:29:24] Kenny Thunder: I mean, to the point where my call came to the podium afterwards and he was.

[00:29:29] Kenny Thunder: I mean, you want that competitive spirit, right?

[00:29:33] Kenny Thunder: We want everyone to hate each other. To the point where my call came to the podium afterward and he was like, I don't know, man. It's. It is what it is. Like, I gotta see the guy. He's on my team. Like. Like that was basically how it was resolved was it.
[00:29:45] Ronnie Jams: Makes me wonder how far back this goes, because they both played for Ohio State, so it's like, was this an ongoing thing?
[00:29:51] Kenny Thunder: I mean, it's. It's possible. I mean, look, if there. There's. It's possible things were said at certain points.

Todd Monkin said that this season the Browns will have rotating captains because there are, quote, too many leaders on this team to name just five permanent captains,
[00:31:12] Kenny Thunder: which usually is what most really good organizations that have strong, strong veteran presence and leadership in those positions, that's what they do.
[00:31:20] Ronnie Jams: We say that when we got guys fighting each other and threatening to go get weapons.
[00:31:25] Kenny Thunder: Yeah, I mean, look that.
[00:31:28] Ronnie Jams: And we got a sex offender that we named as our starting quarterback. Quarterback.
[00:31:33] Kenny Thunder: I don't know if it's appropriate to call him sex offender, but whatever the line is to where you hit sex offender, he's right up against it.

[00:32:08] Ronnie Jams: I just don't buy it either because I could just think of off the top of my head, like, okay, so on defense, you're probably naming like Jared Verse and Schweizer, Denzel Ward or Denzel Ward and Swez.

[00:32:20] Ronnie Jams: Any. We could just name the whole defense, all the defensive guys.
[00:32:24] Kenny Thunder: You've got a punter that's been around for a long time. Special teams.

[00:32:30] Kenny Thunder: So I'm saying he would have been a good pick for a permanent captain.
[00:32:33] Ronnie Jams: Yeah, yeah. But it absolutely, you can, you can pick five guys and you could say those are. I would say you can get five guys that are pretty clear cut leaders of this team. So I don't really buy this hole. There's too many leaders.
It's a really young team. And he actually acknowledged the fact that it's a really young team.
[00:32:52] Kenny Thunder: And I'm sure it's hard to justify a Denzel Boston or Casey Concepcion because they're rookies. Right. So. So even if they're going to be heavily utilized, it's hard to justify that early in the season. So I understand some of that. Right.
What is a damn shame though, is that when you have a roster made of 53 guys and everyone knows one position is more important than the others, you only get.
[00:33:13] Ronnie Jams: And you get less than that on game day too.
[00:33:15] Kenny Thunder: And, and when that guy can't be. When he's, when his, his role on the team is literally to be a leader, you can't come to, to that guy and say, like, I want you to be my captain all year. Captain. My. Oh, captain. My captain.
[00:33:29] Ronnie Jams: My question is like game day. Are you like, wait, who's the captain today? I need, I need to tell. I need to like, I need to escalate this. Who's the captain today?

[00:33:37] Kenny Thunder: This actually makes me think of something because, because look, we joke about this now, but there's like legitimate spillover effect into game day operations and how this happens because if you remember during the second to last preseason game, Shador Sanders was a game day captain and didn't know what that meant, so he missed the coin toss.
He. He missed the coin. He thought he was just like the, he thought he was just the on the field captain that day. So we've already got communication issues that are spilling over on game day. Now we don't know who the captain is week to week. Who knows if they'll know on game day.
[00:34:15] Ronnie Jams: And again, it's funny that you bring that up because one of Todd Monkin's quotes, and I'm paraphrasing this time, was something along the lines of, it's really cool to be able to do the pregame coin toss for these guys. All right, guys, for this brownsbackers interview, please help me welcome, hailing from Rock and Rev in Ocoee, Florida, the president of the Southwest Orlando Brownsbackers, John.

[00:49:40] Ronnie Jams: I thought I was liking it. But anyways, John, thank you so much for joining us. How are you today?
[00:49:44] Speaker E: Today I'm doing well. How y' all doing?
Good.
[00:49:47] Ronnie Jams: Good. So, listen, tell us a little bit about your chapter. Tell us what you guys have going on down there in Orlando.
[00:49:53] Speaker E: All right. We're the Southwest Orlando Browns backers, and we're on the west side of Orlando, pretty much 15, 20 minutes from the tourist areas.
We've been a chapter since 1999 when the team returned. And I'm the third president of the club. My friend Larry, the best president, Fearless leader, supreme conqueror.
But my friend started up. He passed away, passed it on to my friend Brian, and then I took it over from there.
We have about 60 members or so. Well, depends how the season's going, but we try to have about 60 members. We're loud Rowdy. We have a lot of fun.
We have a lot of games this year. We're bringing a bunch of games into our organization.
We've come up with a bingo game. We're going to do we have a game my vice president, Jake is going to be doing called Queens or something.
We have a prize raffle and we do 5050 for the Cleveland Browns Foundation.
[00:50:58] Ronnie Jams: Nice. And you mentioned the Cleveland Browns Foundation. That's a good segue. I know all the Browns backers, groups that are out there, they get involved with their local communities with charity work and. And different things. So besides the Browns backers, or, I'm sorry, the. The Browns themselves, who. Who else are you guys involved with as far as charities go?
[00:51:17] Speaker E: We generally will donate money to the Red Cross for disaster relief when and if we get a hurricane. When we get a hurricane, because they are just getting more and more fierce and devastating. We've lost a couple Browns chapters entirely down here to the storms. So when we see disaster relief, we usually give money to some form of organization with that.
[00:51:41] Ronnie Jams: Absolutely. And I know we lived in Orlando for a couple years, Kenny and I did, but we were lucky enough to not see a single hurricane.
[00:51:48] Kenny Thunder: A lot of heavy rain.
[00:51:49] Ronnie Jams: Yeah.
Yeah. So basically every day. And it does. It really does seem like the last few years, like that area has been hit pretty hard. So great causes for you guys. Do you have any events coming up?
[00:52:02] Speaker E: Up other than. We actually had a couple preseason games we met for and we had almost 30 people at both events, which was really exciting.
But we're just excited to get started with the season and we're hoping to fill the bar. I know the one year we went to the playoffs with Houston, we were at a previous location and we actually filled the place so much they turned people away. And I would love to get back to that. Of course. Course, a lot of that's beyond our powers and hopes and dreams.
[00:52:35] Ronnie Jams: But I, I hate to tell you, John, I don't think that's happening this year, but, you know, I'm not going to spoil everything.
[00:52:40] Kenny Thunder: We haven't even lost a game yet.
[00:52:41] Ronnie Jams: Come on.
[00:52:43] Speaker E: We're undefeated and we haven't even lost. We haven't lost anyone yet.
[00:52:46] Kenny Thunder: That's right. That's right.
[00:52:48] Ronnie Jams: The. We haven't lost a game yet. You're correct. But we haven't lost yet. That's argue.
[00:52:53] Kenny Thunder: We can argue that, John. So are you. Are you from Florida originally? Are you a transplant that moves about to talk Florida?
[00:52:59] Speaker E: I'm a transplant. I was born in Cleveland. My mom worked At Cleveland Hospital, and that was still open. Cleveland General and grew up in Ashtabula county, and when I was about 11 or 12, we moved down here. My parents were looking for work in the early 80s and I just stayed here but never gave up my Cleveland teams.
[00:53:17] Kenny Thunder: Never thought about being a Dolphins fan or a Jags fan or a Bucks fan.
[00:53:22] Speaker E: No, no. Couldn't do it for you.
I gotta also be careful because I'm sure somehow I teach high school, my students are going to find this sooner or later because I'm sure I have an assistant principal that's one of those fans. But no, I know I, I never gave up.
[00:53:43] Ronnie Jams: The Browns come out and beat the Jaguars this week. You can talk all the trash you want.
[00:53:46] Speaker E: Oh, that it's going down. It's, yeah. So.
[00:53:51] Kenny Thunder: Well, we don't want to cause any problems for you, so we'll be easy on you.
[00:53:55] Ronnie Jams: Yeah. So getting into the football side of things here, let's just jump right into it. Who wins this Sunday? You think the Browns are going to come away with the W week one, or is it going to go kind of as expected?
[00:54:09] Speaker E: As a Browns fan, I firmly believe we can win this game.
I think DeSean might, might do something. I think our rookies are exciting.
[00:54:22] Ronnie Jams: I love that the outlook of the game is desean might do something.
[00:54:26] Speaker E: Some interceptions or sacks, but he could do something.
Yeah, I think, you know, it's exciting to see the rookies and we know our defense is going to be nasty. I think if the defense can show up and desean can just not be the new desean, we could come away with a win in that game. As a Browns fan and president of an organization, I firmly believe this.
[00:54:46] The Bone Man: Nice.
[00:54:47] Kenny Thunder: So a score prediction on this one?
[00:54:51] Speaker E: Well, let's see. What do we average? 16 points. So we'll, we'll say 16. 14.
[00:54:55] Kenny Thunder: That's a safe pick. Conservative.
[00:54:58] Speaker E: I like it.
[00:54:59] Kenny Thunder: So obviously, I mean, we're just coming out of the, the off season, the preseason and all that, and, you know, I think a lot of us wish the quarterback thing would have gone differently.
How do you see this thing playing out? I mean, you think this is a short lease? You think they're going to let desean run for a while? What does this look like to you?
[00:55:15] Speaker E: You know, I, I, I really don't know. I coached high school football, so at least I knew some sides of things. But I get why they're starting him. As a fan, we don't understand. But when you look at it as like a business side or from a coach's point of view. View, it probably makes a little bit of sense, but I think it just comes, I think these two games are his chance to do something and I think if he just doesn't show anything, they're going to, the coaching staff's just going to have to go with a different new quarterback. It's, it's not going to work because it's going to get real ugly in Cleveland Stadium for Watson's first game if he's not playing well.
[00:55:52] Ronnie Jams: I noticed you didn't say Shador Sanders. So who do you think they would go with in that scenario?
[00:55:56] Speaker E: Scenario, it's probably going to be Sanders. I'm not a big Sanders fan, but I'm also not against him. I just think of his name as Joe Smith. People wouldn't be on this hype train, but I think it'll be Sanders. I'm not a big Dylan Gabriel fan after what he did to my alma mater at UCF and walked out the door on us. But you know, I think it'll end up being Shador. There's, there's times if he can actually get the ball hyped, he looks pretty good. It's just, just there's something wrong. You just can't seem to get that ball, ball hiked in time.
[00:56:26] Kenny Thunder: So, so are you in the camp that the quarterback for the Cleveland Browns for next season is just not on this roster right now?
[00:56:34] Speaker E: Oh, I definitely was watching a lot of college football this weekend, scouting, looking at, looking at the potential candidates because I just, I, I, I do like our fourth string guy, Taylor. I think he's got some potential but, but I truly believe we're going to, I really want to believe we're going to win nine games, but I have a feeling we're going to get the quarterback we want in the draft.
[00:56:58] Ronnie Jams: Yeah, but I think, you know, we're all going to get a really, really close look at Arch Manning next week, so. True.
[00:57:05] Speaker E: Yeah.
[00:57:05] Ronnie Jams: And he's going to be playing big time players. The caliber, I mean, obviously not all of them, but the caliber of players he'll see in the NFL. He's going to have a few of those across for him.
[00:57:14] Speaker E: Yeah, last year he wasn't impressing me. I think he was more concerned with his commercials and actually playing football. But I know he got better. But you know when you're running up against Ohio State you better bring an A game every time and he didn't have it. So I, I think he's going to be in for a rude wake up call again. This weekend. So I hope.
[00:57:31] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:57:31] Ronnie Jams: And I actually think it's going to be really interesting because not that I dislike Arch Manning, but I'm just kind of like, I think going into this game it's almost unfair to him because Texas is mostly him, like they have good players around him, but Ohio State's freaking stack.
[00:57:47] Kenny Thunder: I think where, I think where I've been with Arch Manning is I keep waiting for him to impress me.
[00:57:52] Ronnie Jams: Yeah, right.
[00:57:52] Kenny Thunder: I keep waiting for him to be, to live up to the name. And I think if he does that, I, I'll be as excited as anybody if the Browns are in position to take the guy.
[00:57:59] Ronnie Jams: And I know, but I want to,
[00:58:00] Kenny Thunder: but I want to see him become the Manning.
[00:58:02] Speaker E: Yeah.
[00:58:02] Ronnie Jams: And I know, I know this, the, the game that I'm about to reference is an all time game, but you think of a former, another former, former Longhorn and Vince Young in the national championship game. He literally, he was the whole Texas team that year and he took on all of USC and was able to step up and win the game.
[00:58:18] Kenny Thunder: Well, yeah, to the point where 20 years later, we're still talking about it.
[00:58:20] Speaker E: Right.
[00:58:20] Ronnie Jams: It's insane.
[00:58:22] Speaker E: John, I think you have a, is that, does he really command the game? So we'll see. I mean, there's a whole year to play. So.
[00:58:30] Kenny Thunder: True. John, I think you have a unique perspective since you mentioned you coached some, some ball.
If things don't go well this year for the Browns, I know you said nine wins. That's optimistic.
But if things go really poorly and really go south. Do you think Todd Monken is, is one and done here?
[00:58:49] Speaker E: You know, I have no idea. I was a little surprised by the hire. I thought it might have been a good idea going with an older guy, you know, I don't know. You know, we have, we have, we have an ownership problem. I'll be very blunt.
I fair, I, I, I like when
[00:59:09] Ronnie Jams: you Brownsbackers presidents get brave and you're like, I'm, I'm just gonna say it. I'm gonna say it.
[00:59:15] Speaker E: I know, I know what my charter says. I can say or can't say. But you know, it's, there's a problem there. And I, I think mon, as long as he shows something, we'll get a chance, you know, and I think that really comes down to if we finish with two wins and we're not in a game, you know, it's just not gonna, it's not gonna work. We're gonna have to be competitive. And I loved, you know, Kevin and we Just weren't competitive last year. It was. It was brutal to watch. And, you know, as the Browns presidents will tell you, it was brutal to watch our fan base leave out and. And being in Florida, you know, you get into November, December, our weather's perfect, and it's like, do I want to watch the Browns or enjoy the weather?
And it. And it becomes really difficult.
[00:59:55] Ronnie Jams: So what exactly did you like about Kevin?
[00:59:59] Speaker E: We made the. I mean, we made the playoffs twice.
[01:00:02] Ronnie Jams: That's true. True. That's true. And was that Kevin.
[01:00:06] Speaker E: Well, we made.
[01:00:06] Ronnie Jams: I'm sorry, this is the whole digression. We just.
[01:00:09] Kenny Thunder: We were.
[01:00:10] Ronnie Jams: Never mind.
[01:00:11] Kenny Thunder: Just being mean.
[01:00:11] Speaker E: I think it was his. I think it was actually his assistance more. You know, now that we're looking at this, I think he. It was more of his assistance. I don't know if it was him.

And I know, you know, some people sit here and say, oh, he's talking about 30 members or 60 members or whatever the case may be, but multiply that by 300 and some chapters, and all of a sudden that's a. That's a real force for good in the world. So we're proud to be Browns fans and be a part of. In whatever capacity, a part of the Browns backers in general because of what they do worldwide. I've never been a big believer in the Jaguars, and that's partly because of their history.
Like the Browns, their name doesn't necessarily strike fear into opponents the same way that others surely does.
However, unlike the Browns, that may be starting to change.
Liam Cohen. And Cohen can't say his name. Liam. Liam. There's a lot.
It feels like there's way more M's and ends in his name than they're
[01:05:05] Ronnie Jams: all gonna help with. This whole Cohen Combs.
[01:05:07] Kenny Thunder: Liam Cohen, this whole Pam. Pam conflict.
[01:05:13] The Bone Man: See.
[01:05:14] Kenny Thunder: Liam Cohen enters his second year as the Jaguars head coach coming off of an impressive 13 and 4 inaugural.
This offense figures to see continued improvement, efficiency and complexity in 2026 under offensive coordinator Grant Yudinsky, who is a familiar name here. After a lot of buzz about him in the offseason in Cleveland before he rightly assumed the Browns would probably end his coaching career and he opted to stay in sunny Florida.
[01:05:39] Ronnie Jams: Good choice.
[01:05:40] Kenny Thunder: The 2025 Jaguars ranked in the top 10 in the NFL in points per game, scoring margin, first downs and total touchdowns, and set franchise ratings records with 474 points scored, 55 touchdowns, and 356 first downs.
Anthony. I can't say anyone's name. Anthony Campanile enters his second season as the defensive coordinator for Jacksonville.
Last year, this defense set franchise records in rushing yards allowed per game, takeaways, interceptions, passes defense and turnover differential. They led the NFL, the entire NFL, in run defense, and became just the third team since 2000 to not allow a single 75 yard rusher in a game for an entire season.
Impressive through the air, they gave up an average passer rating of just 78.5, which was the fifth lowest mark across the league.
Guys, it might finally be time to admit that Trevor Lawrence is good.
Maybe that hall of Fame good, best we've ever seen good. But that he's just a solid NFL starter. 63% completion for his career. Three out of the last four years, he's eclipsed 4,000 yards passing in the year he missed. He battled injuries and only played in like 10 or 12 games.
And he's suffering around a 2 to 1 touchdown interception ratio. And frankly, 17 of his 58 career picks came during his rookie season. So yes, I think we're squarely now in the good category. Good in a similar way that Baker Mayfield or Jared Goff or, or Brock Purdy is good, good. And you can win a lot of games with him and you know, but of course, if you had the chance to upgrade to like Patrick Mahomes or
[01:07:18] Ronnie Jams: Josh Allen or Sean Watson.
[01:07:21] Kenny Thunder: Watson, you definitely would. But otherwise you're not actively looking to replace them. Which, if I could sidebar and I can, because this is my segment, I think this is a dying breed in the NFL. The guys that are just good.
I mean, you know, hell, we saw this with Baker, right? You know, he's found himself in the same situation now where he's getting kind of a put up or shut up type of year. And that's neither here nor there. But my point is that may be the most dangerous place for a quarterback in today's NFL because the league is just so desperate for those top echelon guys. The problem is greatness is only great because it's available in limited quantities. So if every quarterback was Josh Allen, Josh Allen wouldn't be special. So, so every team is just chasing that guy and too often they're willing to forego a Trevor Lawrence or they get bored with a Jared Goff.
I mean, Jared Goff, same thing, right? Got bored with Jared Goff. They saw the opportunity for improvement in Matt Stafford and shipped him in out to Detroit. But these guys are consistent and, and they win. I put Sam Darnold in that same skill group, but fortunately for him, he won a Super Bowl. So he, he's safe now but, but that's really the only way to be safe. Hell, the league is littered with guys that, especially this year, are unproven, underperforming guys like Malik Willis, Tyler show to Attack, Geno Smith, Jacoby Brissettes and Deshaun Watson's all just placeholders for their own, you know, future legacy guy. They're. They're Josh Allen.
Anyway, that brings me back to my point that Trevor Lawrence is officially good.
He's good. And we just have to accept that despite the fact that he has detractors and plenty of people are already bored with him, if he was a Browns quarterback, he would have already been shown the door. Nonetheless, Jacksonville has a perfectly adequate to above average passing game. Sidebar's over.
Bolstered by a fine wide receiver group featuring Brian Thomas Jr. Jacoby Myers, Parker Washington and potentially Travis Hunter. Though he looks to see heavier utilization, is a corner this year. Breton Strange is an underrated weapon at tight end at 64253 with solid straight line speed and above average vertical game. Pff rated strange as a top five blocking tight end.
The run game starts out as probably the biggest mystery for the Jags offensively after the departure of Travis ETN and the emergence of Basul Tutin, who carried the ball sparingly last year on just 83 carries for 307 yards and five touchdowns as a rookie journeyman Chris Rodriguez Jr. Is likely to share the workload alongside of passing down specialist la Quint Allen Jr. Amir Abdullah did make the 53 man roster, but at 33 it doesn't look like they're counting on a significant contribution from him.
2023 first round pick Anton Harrison is penciled in as the franchise left tackle and Cleveland, Hainsey and Makari provide a solid interior for what is expected to be a middle of the pack offensive line line group.
So offensive line running game probably the biggest areas of opportunity for the Browns this weekend Josh Allen not that Josh Allen, Josh Heinz Allen, Trayvon Walker, Devon Hamilton and longtime 40 49er Eric Armstead are a dangerous front and despite leading the league in run defense a year ago, finished just 27th in sacks.
This defense relies heavily on turning the ball over. Antonio Johnson led the team last year with five picks. Will be paired with Travis Hunter, who as we mentioned earlier, will will be used much more heavily on defense this year as he saw close to a 7030 split on defensive reps to offensive ones during camp. And as always, it wouldn't be a Cliff Note if we didn't finish Cliff's note. It wouldn't be a Cliff's note if we didn't finish with the specialists. And Cam Little has already established himself as one of the best young kickers in the league. Through two seasons he's been incredibly accurate and long.
Little is long, hitting a 68 yarder last year and a 70 yarder in this year's preseason. Logan Cook, who's been a fixture in the Sunshine State since 2018, will reprise his role as punter after pinning nearly 220 punts inside the 20 yard line over the last eight seasons. So all that to say, certainty of death, small chance of success. What are we waiting for?

Whatever that was that you did on the Jaguars. And they made a lot of changes in the offensive line in the offseason.
This was one of them. Anton Harrison is a rookie. Some are saying this is like the Achilles heel of the Jaguars as a whole. Pretty good team, but not that great of an offensive line in their running game suffers because of it. So again, some are saying it may be their Achilles heel. DeSean Watson knows a thing or two about Achilles heels. So Anton Harris is not a rookie.
[01:13:22] Kenny Thunder: He's young, but he's not a rookie.
[01:13:23] Ronnie Jams: I'm pretty sure you just said he was a rookie. I didn't have him tabbed as a rookie and I think I heard you say that. No, but I probably got it mixed up because you wrote a whole book.
[01:13:31] Kenny Thunder: But he's a young left tackle.
[01:13:32] Ronnie Jams: Either way, Anton Harrison young. He's going to get beat up by Jared Verse. That's what we're going with. You confused me with your book. So that's what.
And then next up, matchups that matter. Young wide receivers for the Browns versus Travis Hunter.
You mentioned that Travis Hunter is going to get a lot more work at cornerback this year.
[01:13:51] Kenny Thunder: Work them.
[01:13:53] Ronnie Jams: Yeah. And get worked. And I want to see how the young wide receivers are going to handle that matchup. Supposedly he's put on a ton of weight, a ton of. A ton of muscle coming into this season.
[01:14:02] Kenny Thunder: So does this look like a little weight.
[01:14:05] Ronnie Jams: Lost 150 pounds but still fat.
But yeah, I just, I don't know if it's going to matter. We still don't have a quarterback to throw to our receivers, so it might not.
In summary here, that is half the game. Everything that you said. Everything that I said. The Jaguars were 13 and 4 in 2025.
Their 2025 rankings as far as defense go, they were number 11 overall, 303.6 yards per game. Number 21, pass defense, giving up 218.1 yards per game. And number one, run defense in the NFL, 85.6 yards per game.
On offense, they were 11th in the NFL at 337.4 yards per game. Number 20 in the running game at 115.1. And number 12 for their passing game at 222.3.
Now you, you go to the other side here. You look at the Browns. They were almost opposite record at 5 and 12 overall. They were the number four overall defense in the NFL at 283.6 yards per game given up number three against the pass at 167.2 and number 16 against the run at 1:16.4.
[01:15:10] Kenny Thunder: Those numbers don't look all that bad. But asterisk. Jim Schwartz.
[01:15:15] Ronnie Jams: Yes, also.
[01:15:16] Kenny Thunder: And Miles Garrett, also.
[01:15:19] Ronnie Jams: Then you look at the offensive side of the football and we were number 30 in the NFL overall at 262.1 yards per game. The running game was number 27 in the NFL at 97 yards per game. And the passing game was almost dead last second from it. Number 31 in the NFL at 165.1 yards per game. So it's worse.
The jets maybe.

[01:15:45] Ronnie Jams: I don't, I don't remember. I don't know if it was the jets, but it was. I don't know.
But yeah. So, you know, I don't think we have much hope here. You mentioned it. The Jaguars are looking to build off the success they had last year. The Browns are still trying to find themselves since 1999.

No, he's not a magician.
He's a fullback. A 34 year old fullback from Rutgers. Stints with Detroit, Chicago, Washington, New Orleans, Kansas City and Denver. And now your Cleveland Browns. And when you're the Browns and your offensive line is this young and new and your wide receivers, your starting wide receivers have six years of NFL experience between them and all six of those belong to one guy.
And your quarterback has been washed for years and you really haven't found an answer at tight end too. You're going to need to come up with some impact performances from unexpected places. And this would be unexpected.
This guy has a chance to be the unsung hero for the Browns in the early part of the season as they stumble through the desean Watson experiment, which is hopefully the last deshaun Watson experiment of all of our lives.
And it won't show up on the stat sheet. No, probably not. It, it might be one catch for six yards. It might be a muff snap that he dives on Keith Urban active valor style.
Could be a goal line carry, a fourth and inches where it's a big move, the chains moment. But this guy could be the unassailable difference between winning and losing.
[01:20:22] Ronnie Jams: He's just this guy, you know, it's just a guy.
[01:20:27] Kenny Thunder: No, but seriously, I mean it's a guy that they're going to, they're going to need help on the offensive line with this defensive front. He's going to have to make key blocks throughout the day if this run game is going to get going. He's going to be responsible for pass blocking for desean at some point may need to catch an outlet pass and could be one of those sneaky guys that like you've game planned for kc, you've game planned for Jerry Judy probably you're probably game planning for Denzel Boston, Harold Fannin. No one's eyes are going to be on this guy because most of most of everyone doesn't even know he's on the roster.

[01:23:25] Speaker C: Okay. Well, how it all started was I used to be a vice president of Brownsbackers out in North Ridgeville and what had happened is I wanted my own chapter. So I took a year off, volunteered with another Brownsbacker chapter out in Strongsville.
Strongsville Brownsbackers. They're really good people and learned from her and she learned from me.
I put my application in this year. We are now now out at game on in North Olmsted Ohio and we are known as the Dog Pound Collective. I put my application in with the Browns but we got a snag on one thing that the Browns don't like here in Northeast Ohio and It's called the 10 mile rule.
So nowhere within supposedly 10 miles are you allowed to have a chapter next to each other other which that's their rule. And we actually gave permission to a chapter to be within that 10 mile rule when I was a vice president so I didn't know how that worked but moving forward.
So we are the Dog Pound Collective, the best damn watch party in Northeast Ohio.
We follow basically the same rules as the brownsbackers chapter. We raise money for basically the same type of charities.
We believe in community work, we believe in veterans. I'm a ex military veteran and right now we started in March and it's just right now me and my vice president and her name is Kim Dog by the way and, and we now have almost 260 members.

We're growing fast, which is good sometimes, but sometimes it makes a ton of work.

I'm going to change gears here real quick and talk about football a little bit.

[01:28:52] Ronnie Jams: You know, obviously this is a. Has been a tough off season for Browns fans. There's been a lot of speculation. A lot of things have happened. Miles Garrett's gone, all the quarterback talk, everything. So let's get into both of those things here.
First of all, who ultimately is the quarterback of the Cleveland Browns as the season goes on? Is it somebody on the roster? Are we just completely looking forward to 2027?
[01:29:17] Speaker C: Well, I hope the Browns give Shadur a shot. Actually, I don't know why they hadn't because obviously desean's not the future here and he hasn't been the past either.
So why not give your young quarterbacks a chance to show what they have and then you'll know whether you have something moving forward or you really got to focus on 2020 where you're going to have to draft another quarterback and go from there. So, yeah, I personally, I like Chadeur.
He's grown a lot just from the time I've watched them.
The coaches love him, the players love him. So he's not carrying the movie star or hall of Fame like his dad. He's not using his dad's name, which I really am impressed with. He just goes to work and does his job, and that's what he does.
[01:30:18] Ronnie Jams: And I think we are in agreement here collectively, as a show is. Is not even that we. We.
Every time you start talking store Sanders, everybody thinks that if you say anything good about him that you think he's the answer and vice versa. If you say anything bad about him, you. It's just because you hate Shador.
[01:30:35] Speaker E: We're.
[01:30:36] Ronnie Jams: We're very much in the middle on this thing. We're not even saying he's the answer, but he should be getting the shot because I'd like to at least see exactly what our young quarterback has, so.
[01:30:45] Speaker C: Exactly. And they didn't, they didn't bring anybody in.
[01:30:48] Ronnie Jams: I just.
[01:30:49] Speaker C: I feel like they must believe it too.
[01:30:50] Ronnie Jams: Get that opportunity.
[01:30:53] Speaker C: Yeah. Hopefully by at least week five.
[01:30:56] Ronnie Jams: Right. And so. Yeah, I mean, fingers crossed. Yeah. If it's not my week five, it's definitely a lost season, that's for sure.
But on the flip side of the ball here, obviously Miles Garrett got traded to the. To the Rams.
Do you think the defense is going to take a big step back or do you think that those guys will step up and by committee, Jared Verse, whatever the case may be, they keep step with where they were last season.
[01:31:23] Speaker C: I think they still have a ton of talent. I. I think they're still going to be a top 10 defense, actually, especially because most of their games are in NFC north, so I think they'll do well. I like Jared Verse. Everybody says he's not a Miles Garrett. Well, Miles Garrett didn't win two Rookie of the years and player of the defense of the year the first two years. The kid's got to grow.
And he's got a good head on his shoulder, too. I don't see him being the, you know, the dog and pony show. He goes to work and does his job. He's just trying to prove. Proved that he's the new leader, that's all. We still have talent in the back end.
[01:32:07] Ronnie Jams: We're a little thin about. Yeah. I was just gonna say probably the best thing about Jared Verse so far is that you haven't heard a lot out of him. It's.
[01:32:16] Speaker E: He's.
[01:32:16] Ronnie Jams: It's like you said, he's just come in, gone to work, and he just Wants to do his job right.
[01:32:22] Speaker C: And he's young, too.
We're all young. So if they coached up the way they played last year, they'll be even better.
[01:32:32] Ronnie Jams: Yeah, I hope so, for sure.
And then real quick, we were running out of time here, but real quick, this week's game, obviously we got the Jaguars. Jaguars are a pretty solid team. Last year the Browns were not.
So, I mean, let's just get right to it. Who's winning this game this week?
[01:32:51] Speaker C: I believe it's going to be a loss only because we have desean quarterbacking.
And when he gets into live action, he's just not the same quarterback he was. Maybe he'll surprise us. Maybe we'll have the defense get us a win on a turnover last minute or something like that. But I don't see us being a dominant playmaking team right now.
So it might be a hard fought battle. I'd love them to win. I hope they win, but I don't think they're going to.

I understand outside of Ohio in theory, but the fact that this guy has started a essentially a new chapter and within months has 250plus members or people that are interested in showing up to these things tells you that there is a need, a demand for additional viewing locations and watch groups.

Yeah. I totally agree. And I, like I said, I, I would say that that rule makes sense outside of Ohio where.

All right, Real quick here. Before we, we really start King of the north, we got some bad news. John Hughes will not be able to join us weekly for King of the north this season. His kids are getting a little older, schedule's a little more demanding, so he's just not able to commit to the entire season with us here on on the Burning River Sportscast in King of the North. So we will have him on from time to time throughout the season. Probably somewhere between like five and seven times a season. But you'll still hear from Big John. Yeah, but I, I, I think it's really just because he lost and he's a big.

[01:38:26] Ronnie Jams: the end of the season, whoever comes in last place gets punished. In the preseason three years ago, Kenny had a gross of eggs thrown at him by fans in the muni lot before a preseason game.
Kenny, how'd that feel? I don't care. In the preseason two years ago, Kenny had his hair and beard sh off. Kenny, did anyone call you Uncle Fester? I don't care.
Last season, Kenny donned the pads for the first time in almost 20 years and got hit three times by our guy, Big John Hughes, also known as Big Kenny. Fully recovered. I guess I don't care.
Still to come this season, for losing last year, Kenny will be getting a Brazilian wax. Kenny, thoughts on that? I still don't care.
And the loser of this season's punishment is to be determined. We have a couple ideas out there.
One of them was potentially taking the act.

Lamar and Derek Henry aren't getting any younger. No.

While the origin of amusement parks dates back more than 400 years.
Wow. Denmark actually was the first one. The first U.S.
bonus. Fact bonus. That's a big bonus. First, the U.S. amusement park did not open until August 3, 1946. And it was
[01:50:45] The Bone Man: Cedar Point, Kennywood.
[01:50:49] Kenny Thunder: Wrong and wrong. It was Santa Claus Land. Of course.
It's considered the oldest theme park in the United States. It was the the creation of Louis J. Koch, who when visiting the town of Santa Claus, Indiana with his nine children, was shocked and disappointed to find no Santa.
[01:51:09] Ronnie Jams: His theme park, I would be disappointed too.
[01:51:12] Kenny Thunder: His theme park started out as a hobby. It included a toy shop, toy displays, a restaurant, themed children's rides, and of course, Santa Claus. In 1984, Santa Claus land expanded to also include Halloween and the fourth of July holidays in the park. Park's name was changed to what it is today, Holiday World.

[01:51:44] Kenny Thunder: Just the facts, man. The modern roller coaster was originally inspired by 17th century Russian ice slides. These slides, known as sliding mountains, I can see it. Were built for the Russian public to enj. They were made of wooden frames topped with thick sheets of ice, sometimes reaching over 20 meters tall. People sat in sleds made of hollowed out ice, padded with straw and zoomed down the slick surface.
Riders relied on large piles of sand heaped at the bottom to break and stop their momentum.
[01:52:18] Ronnie Jams: You know, I don't give a shit what people say about how dangerous they think roller coasters are nowadays.
Way safer than that. Shit.
Like here, let's just go hurtling down on the side of a mountain on a hollowed out piece of wood on top of ice into some sand.
[01:52:33] Kenny Thunder: 20 meters doesn't sound that tall. But think about 20 meters. That's like 60 to 80ft.
[01:52:38] Ronnie Jams: It's wild, it's big. That's big time.
[01:52:42] Kenny Thunder: And it's like the year 1801, yeah,
[01:52:46] Ronnie Jams: it's like the tallest thing in the world.
[01:52:47] Kenny Thunder: Pretty terrifying.
[01:52:48] Ronnie Jams: Okay, it's not, but it's. It's pretty tall.
[01:52:51] Kenny Thunder: But not as terrifying as number three.
[01:52:53] Ronnie Jams: Number three.
[01:52:54] Kenny Thunder: Number three, top thrill.

[01:53:00] Kenny Thunder: Has no physical, mechanical emergency brakes or track stoppers at the very top of its 420 foot vertical reverse spike.
[01:53:14] Ronnie Jams: So if you just. If it accidentally got too powerful, you just shoot off the top.
[01:53:17] Kenny Thunder: Shoot right off the end. That's a little scary, but I'm told that would defy flow physics. The backward launch only accelerates the train to 101 miles per hour. Physics and friction dictate that the speed of 101 miles per hour cannot carry the train high enough to clear the entire 420 foot structure.
It naturally runs out of momentum and stalls right around the 350 foot mark before gravity pulls it back down.
The ride, however, does use redundant linear synchronous motor launch system controlled by precise computers and sensors. If an unexpected overspeed occurs, the system is programmed to abort or actively break the train before it approaches the top of the spike.
So long as everything works.
[01:54:05] Ronnie Jams: It works. When I was on it, yeah, it was scary.
[01:54:07] Kenny Thunder: The part that I find.
[01:54:08] The Bone Man: Yeah, I've ridden it.
[01:54:09] Kenny Thunder: The part that I find frightening about this is it. It says we really don't need brakes or a mechanical stopper because physics dictate that overspeed can't occur.
But if overspeed does, hopefully the computer system stops it before it gets to that point. So in that whole rat now, they admit that overspeed technically could happen and
[01:54:31] Ronnie Jams: then they can shoot you off the back.
It's pretty good.
