[00:00:00] Speaker A: Type in media. Time for the Burning River sportscast. The NFL draft is upon us, and for the first time in a long time, no one in Northeast Ohio even cares. What was once our Super Bowl now looks more like a Petri Bowl, as we wonder what concoction Andrew Barry and friends may put together to build an edge. Meanwhile, the Cavs are taking their lumps in their first post LeBron postseason appearance and at times have looked much more like the 21 Cavs of seasons past. And the Cleveland baseball team is busy. guardianing 500 new rules. Same game where even your best teams basically lose half of every game. And where do we break it all down for you next? Right here on the Burning River Sportscast. So anyways, I have completely, permanently scarred my genitals art model. [00:01:19] Speaker B: May he rotten. [00:01:20] Speaker A: Hell, whole team forgot to come. [00:01:23] Speaker B: I think the Nicks are the dicks. [00:01:25] Speaker A: People that journal are weird. [00:01:28] Speaker B: Kenny just shits on everyone that keeps a personal journal. [00:01:31] Speaker A: Do you keep a journal? Like a manifest journal? [00:01:33] Speaker B: I actually tried to for a while and it didn't go well. Yeah, I lasted about six days and I stopped keeping it because it's weird. Who is it? This is the least buildup for a draft that I can ever remember in Cleveland. [00:01:46] Speaker A: I don't even care. [00:01:47] Speaker B: I literally don't care. There's a reason why I know we're a Browns podcast, but we didn't spend a lot of time on draft preview for you guys, because I just don't give a shit. [00:01:59] Speaker A: So why is he projected so late? [00:02:01] Speaker B: He went to Princeton. Do they even play football? Gone and get your shit now. [00:02:10] Speaker A: Welcome into the Burning River sports cast. Presented by Tap and Media I'm Kenny Thunder, seated beside the man formerly known as Porterhouse, 16oz one inch thick. Tragic skydiving accident feels bad for the man now known as Red Hot Ronnie Jams. And the king of fast food, the Burger King himself. The big seals on the board with us today and Ronnie, tell our friends where they can find the most delicious char, broiled, wood fired and reverse seared Cleveland Sports podcast. [00:02:36] Speaker B: You can find our podcast wherever you get your podcasts. That's apple podcasts. Spotify Stitcher. Google podcasts. Amazon Music. Pandora. iHeartRadio podcast. Castro good pods and so many more. And the Burger King himself, Steely. Say hi to our fans. [00:02:52] Speaker A: Yo, what up? What up? [00:02:54] Speaker B: So, Kenny, I was getting ready to put the news story together for introduction here this week, and you sent me a message and you said, stop what you're doing at once. There is something I need people to know. So, yes. What do you got for us today? [00:03:07] Speaker A: No news story this week. This is far more important. Far more important. This is a PSA directly from Kenny Thunder himself. A PSA to essentially everyone, but especially my manzies out. [00:03:25] Speaker B: Fellow men. [00:03:26] Speaker A: Fellow men. [00:03:27] Speaker B: Got it. I don't know why you didn't say fellow men. You went with mansy. [00:03:30] Speaker A: Fellow men manzie might be more appropriate once you hear the topic of discussion. Okay, let's hear it. So my wife is my wife tragically pregnant. She's getting there. She's like an old fashioned Blimpy sandwich, and she's gotten to the point where. [00:03:51] Speaker B: We were having she doesn't listen to our podcast. [00:03:53] Speaker A: We're having the conversation recently about things that come with pregnancy, like not being able to see your nether regions anymore. And we're having the conversation about, I'm going to probably have to help her care for that private area by removing excess hair and things. And I'm like, I don't want to cut off your bits. So that seems like a terrible idea. So my thought was, I know they make this product, this unpaid testimonial here called Nair, where I've always promoting other. [00:04:27] Speaker B: Products that don't pay us to promote their products. [00:04:30] Speaker A: I always saw on TV watching soaps with my mom, this Nair commercial, you just rub on this Nair for short shorts. Yeah, whatever. You rub it on and the hair falls off. And I was like, this actually could work really well in this scenario, so you can narrow yourself, and then I won't have to cut off your lady bits. But I got to thinking, I was like, I haven't seen my own butthole since I was about 22 years old, and I used to be totally clean shaven all the time. [00:04:59] Speaker B: That's a lot of information you're giving our fans here. [00:05:01] Speaker A: I was thinking maybe I'll go ahead and narrow myself just to kind of get back to being fresh. And let me tell you this, friends, there's instructions on the back of the bottle. And the instructions basically say, rub on your area and let it sit for a minute or two. If the hair is dense and thick, you can leave it on for up to ten minutes before you wipe it off. [00:05:28] Speaker B: Okay. Seems simple. [00:05:29] Speaker A: Seems simple. So I put it in my hand, I rub it all over my nether regions, and I just go ahead and take a seat in the bathtub. [00:05:38] Speaker B: Because who takes a bath? [00:05:42] Speaker A: It wasn't a bath. It was the empty bathtub just to let it marinate. [00:05:48] Speaker B: I think that's even weirder. [00:05:50] Speaker A: And when it comes time, when the timer goes off, you're supposed to take a wet rag. And the wet rag in this case, just acts as your razor. [00:05:58] Speaker B: Okay? [00:05:59] Speaker A: So that kind of removes seems simple. So ten minutes come and go. I stand up, turn on the water, grab my towel, and I start going to town, rubbing off the man bit. [00:06:11] Speaker B: You were just rubbing off? [00:06:11] Speaker A: I was rubbing it off and rubbed it off in the shower. And I felt like, yeah, I did a pretty good job. Let's go back to the fact that I haven't seen my butthole since I was 22 years old. When you think you're doing a good job, sometimes you're not doing as good a job as you think. So as I'm doing my hair and the rest of my body in the shower, I'm starting to feel like this is really burny. It's a very hot sensation I have right in and around my genitals right now. But I'm like, I did just use some kind of hair removal, so maybe this is normal. [00:06:49] Speaker B: You started getting hot nuts? [00:06:50] Speaker A: I got the hot nuts real fast. My nuts were so hot, like a supernova big red giant whatever the hottest thing you could think of is. [00:06:57] Speaker B: This is already starting to make me cringe. [00:06:59] Speaker A: And so I'm like I eventually got so hot that I turned water on, like totally cold. And I'm just buzzing about trying to buzzing about cool down my nether regions. Did you blow on them? I can't reach, remember? I can't see my I forgot. So I finally get out of the shower, and we're getting ready to go to my mom's house for dinner. And I go out in the living room because it's a little cooler out there because the bathroom was hot. I'm taking a shower, and I'm just kind of airing it out. And my wife walks in and she's like, what are you doing? [00:07:32] Speaker B: There's a visual for you guys. [00:07:34] Speaker A: She's like, what are you doing? We need to leave. We're going to be late to your mom's. And I'm like, something's going on here. I can't really explain. All I know is that it hurts a lot. And she's like, let me see, let me see. And I'm like, no, because at this point, my genitals are on fire, and my little turtle head has just totally pulled itself back into its shell because I've been spraying cold water on it for the last ten minutes. So I'm like, no, you can't see. So eventually she's like, I'm your wife. You have to let me see. So I pulled the wife card out. I undo the towel, and her face goes like this. [00:08:14] Speaker B: And you thought it was because the turtle head had pulled back inside a shell. [00:08:17] Speaker A: Her face had she didn't make a sound, but her face said, terror. [00:08:22] Speaker B: Oh, no. [00:08:23] Speaker A: And then that's when I started to get worried because I was like, okay, it really hurts, but I haven't actually seen it yet. You've seen it and you look terrified. And I said, Am I bleeding? [00:08:35] Speaker B: And she's like, when there's a pause when you ask if you're bleeding, that's never good. [00:08:42] Speaker A: Wait a minute. Did she take a picture so you could see it? She did take a picture. [00:08:47] Speaker B: We put that up there. Don't be hacking we can't put that. [00:08:50] Speaker A: Don'T be hacking my wife's icloud because it is not a pretty picture. Oh, no. [00:08:56] Speaker B: I can't wait to get that picture somehow and just post it all over the Internet. Yeah, it's going to be fantastic. [00:09:01] Speaker A: The Naked Bloody Mole. So anyways, I have completely, permanently scarred my genitals. I can't wear underwear. I can't wear pants. I'm pretty much going to have to call off work now because of this Nair incident. [00:09:16] Speaker B: How's your boss going to take? [00:09:17] Speaker A: And as Christine's looking around down there, she's like, well, you missed some spots, but this doesn't look good. [00:09:24] Speaker B: You missed some spots? As in you're patchy down there? [00:09:27] Speaker A: Yeah, I'm a little patchy. [00:09:28] Speaker B: All right. Patches. Oh, man. [00:09:30] Speaker A: Over here, Patch Adams. [00:09:33] Speaker B: We need to just get you a clown nose. [00:09:34] Speaker A: So the worst part about this whole ordeal is I have to do it again now to remove the patches at some point, but I now know that I have to do this with a trusted companion. So ronnie, you're up. You got to be kidding me. This is what this has come to? So anyway, I spent the last time. [00:09:52] Speaker B: We'Re not friends anymore. [00:09:53] Speaker A: I spent out the last 48 hours literally icing my balls with my wife, rubbing any kind of analgesic, anesthetic neosporin, baby powder, butt powders, just all over my genitalia in an attempt to try and heal this thing, because it is the worst pain I've ever been in. [00:10:14] Speaker B: This sounds like the worst thing that's ever happened to anybody. [00:10:16] Speaker A: It is the worst thing that's ever happened to me, for sure. [00:10:18] Speaker B: I think that's the new punishment for if you lose King of the north next year. [00:10:23] Speaker A: Just leave Nair on for half hour. [00:10:25] Speaker B: You got to leave Naron for at least 15 minutes. [00:10:27] Speaker A: I mean, this thing has just it just boiled my skin ill all the way around my genitals. The good news is, are you out. [00:10:35] Speaker B: There looking like sloth in your nether region? [00:10:37] Speaker A: The good news is I said to my wife last night, and we're laying down and she's powdering my balls. [00:10:43] Speaker B: At least you get that serviced every night. [00:10:44] Speaker A: Now, did I get the hair on my balls? And she says, There is not a single hair on your balls. [00:10:56] Speaker B: You are officially the naked mole rat. [00:10:58] Speaker A: So I will say this, the Nair does work because it has removed all the hair off my balls, but it has also totally, 100% destroyed my groin ill. PSA. To all my manlies mansies, I don't. [00:11:14] Speaker B: Know what to say right now. The whole time, I was thinking of just really something really good to say, but I just feel bad. Well, I feel bad. Two things I feel. One, you're a complete idiot. And two, thank you. I feel bad for you for being such a complete idiot. So there's those things. With that, let's move on from netherregion talk and let's remind our fans about the giveaway we have going on. What are we giving away right now? Kenny? [00:11:45] Speaker A: Why do we never bring the Nick Chubb jersey to our giveaway? [00:11:50] Speaker B: Our man in the booth forgot it today. [00:11:53] Speaker A: The Burger King himself. [00:11:54] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:11:55] Speaker A: We're giving away a Nick Chubb jersey. It is autographed. It's pretty cool. [00:11:58] Speaker B: It is autographed signed by Batman himself. [00:12:01] Speaker A: Nick. Nick Chubb. [00:12:02] Speaker B: Yeah. So how do we get entered I. [00:12:04] Speaker A: Believe you just have to be subscribed to our YouTubes. But I know you have the rest of the instructions. [00:12:09] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:12:09] Speaker A: Basically, you're going to know why you asked me. [00:12:11] Speaker B: I have that info. Take hotline. [00:12:39] Speaker A: Yeah, can we actually pause here real quick? Because we've had a few people call the Hot take hotline. [00:12:44] Speaker B: We will not count your hot take if you say, I am calling the Hot Take hotline to get an entry for the Nick Chubb jersey and then hang up. Yeah, that's not a hot take. [00:12:53] Speaker A: First off, it's not a hot take. And second off, you haven't identified who you are, so I don't know how I can even trace this back. I just have a random voicemail from Fred in Colorado, and he's like, I'm calling about the Nick Chubb jersey. Click, we need your Hot takes, and I need you to at least know drop a Twitter handle, something. Give me your name. I won't play your name on air, but we need to know who you are. Yeah. [00:13:14] Speaker B: So all of those things, but it will unlock a lot of different options for you to earn entries into the giveaway. The giveaway runs through Memorial Day. We will draw that week and announce the winner within seven days of Memorial Day. [00:13:25] Speaker A: It seemed like that was a long time away, but we're getting closer now. [00:13:27] Speaker B: Yeah, it's only like 40 some days. [00:13:29] Speaker A: Like four weeks now. [00:13:30] Speaker B: Yeah, we're getting there. [00:13:31] Speaker A: Yeah. It's less than 40 days. [00:13:33] Speaker B: Yeah, it's four weeks. [00:13:37] Speaker A: Today is the 24th. [00:13:38] Speaker B: It's less than 40 days. Anyway. Hurt that'll take us to the Burning River Rundown. All right. As we've mentioned before, this is the staple of the offseason, the Burning River Rundown, all things Cleveland sports as quickly as we possibly can, and some other. [00:14:05] Speaker A: Random things that we dabble in. [00:14:07] Speaker B: Yeah, we dabble. [00:14:07] Speaker A: We dabble. [00:14:08] Speaker B: So starting out here, brown's rumors have been swirling for weeks regarding a new stadium. Right. Actually, years. [00:14:18] Speaker A: They've been talking about developing the lakefront since before Art left. [00:14:21] Speaker B: Yeah. So the first report that I can remember, at least the most recent ones that came out, was last June. There was a claim that the Browns wanted to build a publicly funded $1 billion dome. And then last week, there are rumors that the Browns would potentially call somewhere else home for two years while the new stadium was being built in the same place that the current stadium is. [00:14:42] Speaker A: Clarify. They're not leaving Cleveland. It would just be while the stadium is being built. [00:14:46] Speaker B: Correct. And then there was supposed to be some sort of announcement regarding a new stadium that still as of 424, which is the day we're recording this, has not come. But we do know one thing for sure, and that's that Cleveland mayor Justin Bibb came out this week and stated that he is no longer going to risk general new fund dollars for maintenance of a privately owned football franchise. And he added, so we've got to be creative with funding. Now, first things first, tax is theft. [00:15:21] Speaker A: Absolutely. [00:15:22] Speaker B: Everybody knows that. However, with that being said, this is starting to get eerily similar to that time when nobody would give that son of a bitch art modell, may he rotten hell the funding that he needed to get a new stadium. So he moved the team in the middle of the night to Baltimore. It's just getting a little scary. [00:15:46] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:15:47] Speaker B: When the mayor takes a hard stance like that, it's not good. [00:15:52] Speaker A: I don't want to get overly political here. [00:15:54] Speaker B: Okay, but you're going to. [00:15:57] Speaker A: Justin Bibb also pulled back on getting rid of leaves in the fall and snow removal and quickly learned that you can't just do those things because no one has anywhere to put their leaves. [00:16:13] Speaker B: Or their snow just go on the street. [00:16:15] Speaker A: So these words are very populist from any politician on either side of the aisle right now. Right. No one wants to pay for a football stadium. Understood. As Ronnie so eloquently put it, taxation is theft, 100% every single time. But I think that cooler heads ultimately need to prevail in this situation. And he's right. The funding needs to be creative because you don't want to lose a sports franchise over a stadium. Now, I think there's just still a lot of dialogue to be had here because the initial at least from the Haslam family and team was, we don't necessarily need a new stadium. We'll just kind of rebuild on top of this one or enhance this one. And then I've also it sounds like. [00:17:01] Speaker B: The Haslams are already looking to be creative so that it's not going to be this monstrosity of a bill on. [00:17:07] Speaker A: They'Re not stupid, right? They don't want to cause a firestorm. [00:17:12] Speaker B: I think they know they're not the most popular people in Cleveland as no. [00:17:16] Speaker A: No, but a long, you know, look, this is a decades long, not something that's unique to Cleveland issue with how do we fund sports teams in their so here's the deal. [00:17:28] Speaker B: In my opinion, I don't think it should be fully on the taxpayers right. By any means, but I do think there is something to be said about having a stake in the franchise that calls your city home. I mean, there's a reason why you can argue, again, overall taxation 100% theft, but you can argue this stuff back and forth all you want. In the end, at least a portion of each stadium. That's how almost every stadium is funded. Cleveland is lucky enough to have not one, not two, but three, and soon to be four, if you count Major League Soccer teams in their city. And I think that by kind of taking this hard stance, it's almost like you're taking for granted the fact that we are one of the few cities that is able to have an. Yeah. [00:18:20] Speaker A: I mean, and you see this most predominantly in baseball, right, because of the salary cap or salary issues with being a mid market club. That makes it more real for us than anything else, because you tend to think all Major League sports seeds are huge. But there's a big difference between being in a city like Pittsburgh or Cleveland and being in La. Or York. Right. [00:18:39] Speaker B: I mean, much more to cities like Cleveland and Pittsburgh. [00:18:43] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:18:43] Speaker B: La. Is going to be fine without it, but they can sustain, like, seven of them, too. [00:18:48] Speaker A: Yeah, they have plenty of money to put the Bills and a bunch of. [00:18:52] Speaker B: Other Midwest cities would kill to have even one franchise, for sure. I don't have all the answers. I just think we need to be careful, like I said, and not take a hard stance on any of this stuff and lean more towards the kind of caveat that he threw out the end. Like, we got to be creative. [00:19:14] Speaker A: I think in an ideal society, a billionaire should pay for their own stadium. Right. But the problem is it's not quite that simple. And I think the question also that gets dragged into this, especially in Cleveland, is whether you build a dome or not. And I know that's a hot button issue because we play man's football here in Cleveland and we want to be in the elements and all. [00:19:33] Speaker B: Absolutely. Put a retractable roof, especially if the taxpayers are involved, because it gives you more revenue. [00:19:39] Speaker A: Well, and that's what I think is fair. Right. I think if you're going to include taxpayer funding, it has to be a dome, because you have to be able to then use that facility for Final Four car shows, civic center events. You have to be able to use that stadium. And I think the good thing that we've started to see is that even with the Guardians proposed changes and things, they're starting to make these stadiums become more staples of the community, where maybe there's bars and restaurants and things that can be used outside of just game time. But it's going to be a must, I think, going forward, if you're going to think about creatively funding stadiums and using taxpayer dollars. [00:20:17] Speaker B: Yeah, absolutely. So enough about the stadium, though. More Browns news. Miles Garrett has officially announced his retirement from the Pro Bowl games. [00:20:29] Speaker A: Sitting on the edge of my seat, though. Yeah. [00:20:31] Speaker B: Do we have a flashback clip from when we talked about the Pro Bowl games and how it's not going to last. This is all one and done. There's a couple different clips that would actually play well into this. Just find one. [00:20:41] Speaker A: I mean, the best Clip is the one where I said that this particular game that Miles Garrett dislocated his Toad doing was going to be One and done. [00:20:50] Speaker B: Yeah, let's throw that up right now. [00:20:51] Speaker A: Yeah. I do fear that this Gridiron gauntlet is probably to match your terms from earlier. A one and donener here because this sounds like the most Dangerous. This is side by side relay task showcasing strength, speed, and Agility. Six players from each conference Competes. [00:21:13] Speaker B: See who finishes first. [00:21:15] Speaker A: We talked about Breakaway walls and climbing over walls, under tables, tire run, blocking, Sled. [00:21:23] Speaker B: One guy busting his head open on a table and it's like, all right, that one's done. [00:21:26] Speaker A: Or just the Fact that, I don't know, like a Non contact. Can you tear your CL doing with some of these? Like, running through tires in a Game that doesn't matter to anyone? So I feel like that's a one and done. [00:21:39] Speaker B: Yeah, that's pretty much what you said, right? [00:21:41] Speaker A: Basically a master. Anus yeah. [00:21:44] Speaker B: And this is why the Pro Bowl is Pro Bowl. And it won't last much longer. I think this whole Pro Bowl Games thing is maybe a one, two, Three somewhere in that Range years, and then the Pro Bowl is going to be a Thing of the past. [00:21:57] Speaker A: It's a shame. Not because I always loved watching the Pro Bowl growing up or anything like that. Pro bowl has been Pro Bowl for a long time. But it's a shame, because what do you replace it with? You do want some kind of season long honor for the best in the game. The fact that it's like a fan vote, especially, I think is cool. It's interactive for the audience, for all your teams, to try and get your guys onto the Pro Bowl squad. [00:22:23] Speaker B: But they got to do things where people can't get hurt. So, I mean, we're kind of limited to, like, chess. [00:22:29] Speaker A: Checkers, esports. [00:22:31] Speaker B: Yeah. Like I don't know what you do. Esports is probably something that they'll start throwing around here soon. And I think it's going to be. [00:22:36] Speaker A: Watch Lamar Jackson and miles Garrett play. [00:22:39] Speaker B: Because let's be honest, I don't have anything against esports, but I'm a real sports fan and I don't want to watch I mean, not that I don't think what a lot of these e sports players are doing isn't impressive. Like, I know how hard it is to be good at video games. I grew up playing them alongside you and the Burger King himself. Adam Seeley Here. [00:23:04] Speaker A: I just don't know what you do to reward these guys. [00:23:08] Speaker B: I don't know either. It's hard because again, I don't have all the answers. [00:23:11] Speaker A: I mean, do we just have the NFL cruise and make an event where these guys get to go on a cruise and then make that a fan event? [00:23:19] Speaker B: You make a reality TV show. [00:23:21] Speaker A: Yeah. You show them the whole week of them on a cruise, and then the games are like the belly flop contest or like, who can drink the most margaritas again? [00:23:30] Speaker B: You're starting to get into dangerous territory. But, I mean, I'm in. I like it. [00:23:34] Speaker A: How many margaritas can an NFL defensive lineman house? [00:23:37] Speaker B: At least seven. But next up here, we got don't spend a lot of time on where we could go with the Pro Bowl, because that could get deep. But we got some trade rumors in. Oh, boy. [00:23:51] Speaker A: We do. [00:23:51] Speaker B: There are currently a lot of trade rumors surrounding Kenny's all time favorite Cleveland Browns player. No. [00:23:57] Speaker A: No. Is it time for Nick Chubb to finally leave? [00:24:00] Speaker B: No, I'm talking about Schwartz. [00:24:02] Speaker A: Oh devastated. [00:24:04] Speaker B: Yeah, Kenny, you've got to be devastated. I know you think highly of him. Do we have that flashback clip? Throw one more in. I know this not the easiest editing for you to do. [00:24:13] Speaker A: I'm not going back in time for this. I'll tell you this. [00:24:16] Speaker B: I'll go forward. [00:24:16] Speaker A: We'll go forward. When I heard Anthony Schwartz was going to potentially be traded, I came instantly. [00:24:23] Speaker B: Wow. That's the most graphic our show has ever gotten. And it came on the heels of Anthony Schwartz trade. I never who knew? [00:24:34] Speaker A: I ain't going back in time. I feel a little I'm not reliving anymore. Anthony Schwartz. [00:24:38] Speaker B: I feel not right. [00:24:39] Speaker A: Sticky. [00:24:40] Speaker B: That's not the right word. Don't use that one. I don't like this. Let's move on. Speaking of trimming the fat on this roster, I don't really know how that transition got in there, but Perrin Winfrey was arrested on assault charges. This was it a week ago know, just when this guy was starting to look like he's turning a he's, he's kind of settling in. Something like this comes out, and the reports don't sound good. [00:25:08] Speaker A: Well, the problem with Perrion is it's repeat. There's a ton of locker room issues. Last year stuff came out from when he was in college that was disciplinary. [00:25:17] Speaker B: Between that and like, why have we not cut this guy yet? [00:25:20] Speaker A: Well, because I think he still has potential if you can get him on the field. [00:25:25] Speaker B: Okay. [00:25:25] Speaker A: Yeah, look, here's the other thing. I don't want to cut him because he's the sounder of the Burning River Sports guest dog of the week, because he did have one of the best intro press conferences of any player ever drafted to the Browns. [00:25:38] Speaker B: Yeah, but here's the deal. This is one of the many reasons we haven't become a serious contender. And we're still putting up with bullshit year after year from every single player on not every single player, but a lot of players on our is this a hot take? Mean, this is one of the reasons is because a player like this problem after problem after problem after problem and he hasn't even produced for you when he has been on the field and he's still on the roster. Like, what kind of message are they sending the rest of the roster right now when they say, yeah, he's been in a lot of trouble, but we really got to see what he's got? [00:26:12] Speaker A: I think it's hard to stand on that mountaintop and proclaim moral superiority when you have $240,000,000 invested in an alleged sexual predator. [00:26:25] Speaker B: I mean, fair. I guess we have to probably await the internal investigation that Andrew Barry said is coming to determine whether or not he's going to be cut. But I mean, officially, no. Wrongdoing. [00:26:41] Speaker A: Yeah, not as of yet, but yeah, I just know. This is, again, harkening back to past episodes. We said these things will continue to happen because there's still clearly a void of leadership here in Cleveland. [00:26:54] Speaker B: It's just amazing. [00:26:54] Speaker A: It starts with your head coach, and these things, like you said, they'll continue to happen, and they'll continue to be the reason why you'll never get. [00:27:04] Speaker B: Just it's just unfortunate because add it to the list of reasons why the Browns are the Browns, browns is the Browns. [00:27:11] Speaker A: But I really don't want to have to find a new sounder for Dog of the Week. [00:27:14] Speaker B: That's fair. It's a good sounder. Next up here, some sad news that rocked the NFL world recently. Chris Smith's, defensive end, correct for the Browns, passed away this last week. No cause of death yet, but it was sudden. He was playing currently for the Seattle Sea Dragons. I believe in the XFL. So, I mean, he was on a football roster, and a lot of players and coaches have come out and expressed great sorrow at the loss and kind of just talked about how awesome of a guy he mean. [00:27:48] Speaker A: This this whole story is tragic because one, I think hearing from past teammates this week, especially here in Cleveland, these guys were devastated. They all said he was like a light in the nicest guy you've ever met. He was always kind to everyone. And when he was here, he had lost his four years ago girlfriend. [00:28:09] Speaker B: Yeah. So he was pulled over on the side of the road because there was a problem with his tire. And his girlfriend at the time, who was the mother of his child, got out of the car to help, and she was struck by a vehicle and killed. [00:28:23] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:28:24] Speaker B: So that happened, just like I said, four short years ago. I believe his child was a newborn at the time. And now to have this happen, it's very sad. I hope that his kid has a really good supporting family to take care of. [00:28:41] Speaker A: Terrible for the child because that's just awful, unspeakable awful. [00:28:48] Speaker B: So condolences to his family. Just a terrible, terrible thing to hear. Rip in happier news here, we found someone this week on the Cleveland Browns that deserves an award. [00:29:01] Speaker A: An award? [00:29:02] Speaker B: What award, you may ask? [00:29:04] Speaker A: What award, I may ask. I'm asking where we're giving. [00:29:06] Speaker B: Out an award this week for the Burning River Sportscast dog of the week. [00:29:12] Speaker A: It's back. Come on, now. I'm coming in to kill right away. [00:29:21] Speaker B: Should we take Perry and winfrey out of the Sounder? Do we wait for the internal investigation to conclude? [00:29:25] Speaker A: Oh, we have to wait for the investigation to conclude. [00:29:27] Speaker B: We got to let things run their course. [00:29:29] Speaker A: I mean, here's the thing. Maybe we should also put that contest out to fans that find me a better Sounder. I maintain mine's the best. Find me Tim Couch. Post concussion. Find me Phil Dawson talking about the field goal flag something. [00:29:45] Speaker B: We're getting off topic here. [00:29:46] Speaker A: Find me a Sound clip and send it our way. [00:29:48] Speaker B: Yeah, but the Burning River Sportscast Dog of the Week is Joel Batonio. Him and his wife donated $1 million to their alma mater for a new weight room, university of Nevada. I believe it has been named the Batonio Family Strength and Conditioning Center. And Joel Batonio was quoted as saying, it gave me a chance to live out my dream. My dream was to play college sports, and I got to play college football. Hopefully, this generation of pac players and the next few generations of pac players have a chance to live out their dreams, too. Training and weight room are some of the most important things about a program, having that base strength and conditioning. But it also helps recruiting a little bit. Seeing the guys that have played here love this university. They bleed blue. They care about the wolf pack, and they want to give back when they have a chance. So good on Batonio. [00:30:39] Speaker A: Yeah, these things are always nice stories, right. I think for Joel himself, this is one of those, like, as you're building a hall of Fame resume, you kind of have to do. [00:30:48] Speaker B: Yeah, well, it's just a great thing. I know that when these guys get into the NFL I mean, you don't go into the NFL thinking, I'm going to be writing seven figure checks for weight. [00:31:02] Speaker A: No to credit, you have to play for a long time and be successful to do that. [00:31:08] Speaker B: You got to take care of your family first and your well being first and before you have a chance to be able to really share the wealth outside of that. And he's done that. I mean, he's been fantastic for the Browns for a long time. He's been rewarded for it with decent contracts. [00:31:22] Speaker A: And going back to the alma mater is always good because especially in today's world of nil, you start to see some of these programs that can get things like that, like a brand new weight room, state of the art facilities. Those things start to matter more to these kids because they're getting paid it's. [00:31:35] Speaker B: In to give it to a school like, mean it's we all know it's an unfair playing field. We're Ohio State fans here, and we know Ohio State has it good they're one of the top programs in the nation. And because of that, they get a lot of things that places like Nevada will never weren't. [00:31:52] Speaker A: If I wasn't born in Ohio and got the opportunity to be in Ohio State football, we'd probably hate Ohio State. I would hate college football, period, because. [00:32:00] Speaker B: You just see Ohio State, Alabama, Clemson, these places just go and especially anymore, they just pay for their team. [00:32:06] Speaker A: And if I was a Hofstraw fan, I'd be like, this sucks they even have a football team anymore. Just a chess club. [00:32:14] Speaker B: If you were a University of Charlote fan, yeah. [00:32:20] Speaker A: You get Butch Davis and you're like, yeah, we're going. [00:32:23] Speaker B: But yeah. So good on Joel Batonio. That's a great thing to do for your alma mater. Joel Batonio, once again, is this week's Burning River forecast. Down the week, baby. So let's get back into the Burning River Rundown. [00:32:37] Speaker A: I've missed that. [00:32:38] Speaker B: Yeah, that was nice. [00:32:40] Speaker A: I think I would just threw that right in the middle of the Burning River Rundown. We couldn't have saved that till the. [00:32:43] Speaker B: End, but no, it was part of the Browns news, so I had to go there. [00:32:46] Speaker A: Okay. [00:32:46] Speaker B: Because next up we've got the you know, they're in the playoffs right now. You wouldn't know it watching them, but they are in the playoffs right now. They're absolutely struggling against the New York knickerbockers. [00:33:00] Speaker A: Struggling against the knickerbockers. They're struggling against Jalen brunson. [00:33:03] Speaker B: He literally is basically the entire team. [00:33:06] Speaker A: He looks he looks like Derek Rose out there. [00:33:09] Speaker B: So in case anyone's living under a rock, they currently find themselves down three one. It could be over by the time this podcast airs, because the next game is on Wednesday. We're recording on a Monday. But they're currently down three one and on the verge of being bounced from the playoffs in the first round. And the worst part is, Julius Randall, the best player for the New York Knicks, has been a complete non factor. [00:33:29] Speaker A: Yeah, the biggest play was when he got himself taken out under the game doing a dunkin in garbage time. [00:33:35] Speaker B: Yeah. As you stated, Jalen Brunson has basically beaten the Cavs by himself. We have absolutely no answer for this guy. [00:33:43] Speaker A: Can we pause real quick on Jalen Brunson? I don't know that I can get a picture of him up here that will make it worth a damn. But have you noticed when they go close up down in the sky during interviews, how weirdly hairy. Just his shoulders are like a Teen Wolf vibe going on. [00:34:00] Speaker B: Teen Wolf is beating the cat. [00:34:01] Speaker A: There's not, like any hair anywhere else or, like, anywhere on his arms, but he has these patches of really hairy hair just on his shoulders. [00:34:08] Speaker B: Yeah, that's OD. [00:34:08] Speaker A: I might have to look for it on Wednesday. Very weird. Yeah, that's weird. Never seen, like, how much money do you make? Get some there, bro. [00:34:16] Speaker B: Just don't put it on your nether. Region look, last episode we did a quick review of Donovan Mitchell and how he's been for the Cavs. This know, I don't know, maybe we spoke too soon in talking about how good he's been. I mean, I don't want to discount what he's done and how great he's been for this team. [00:34:33] Speaker A: He had a great regular season period. [00:34:34] Speaker B: But here's the deal. It looks like he's watching the game out there. Like, he's completely folded. He's completely choking. And he was supposed to be our guy with playoff experience coming in here. The Knicks are making him look silly and almost like they dodged a bullet for not giving up a bunch of assets. [00:34:51] Speaker A: And he does have playoff experience. They were just running through. He's got like the 7th most points in playoff history or something like behind LeBron and Jordan and Kobe. [00:35:01] Speaker B: Well, apparently he forgot how to play basketball this series. So I don't know what his deal is, but it's been bad. [00:35:07] Speaker A: Whole team forgot to come. [00:35:10] Speaker B: It's been awful. At least. Look, if the whole team, except for Donovan Mitchell decided not to show up for the playoffs, I actually would be like, well, that's why we went and got Donovan Mitchell, so he could carry us through the playoffs. He's the guy. [00:35:23] Speaker A: I mean, I remember watching the end of game one and going with about five minutes left when you realized that everybody had gone cold and he ripped off a couple of threes, and you're like, all right, it's you from here on out. This is three first round picks. You're going to have to carry this team to victory. They had evened it up and then they lose a nail biter there. Then he disappeared. And it was a lot made after game one about the number of shots that he took that he was maybe hogging the ball. They did do a good job of distributing in game two, but I think the bigger difference in game two is they came out and they were physical. [00:35:57] Speaker B: Darius Garland had 30 points in the first half. When you get up by 25. [00:36:03] Speaker A: But the thing that stuck out and has stuck out all series outside of game two is just the fact that they're just being out rebounded. It's just the hustle plays that they're losing to loose balls. And this Knicks team is not that good. That's the thing that feels the worst about Jalen Brunson. [00:36:20] Speaker B: We have no answer for him whatsoever. And Jalen Brunson, he's a good player. [00:36:25] Speaker A: But he's an NBA player. [00:36:27] Speaker B: But beating the Cavs by himself, jalen. [00:36:30] Speaker A: Brunson's not in the same conversation. [00:36:32] Speaker B: You don't even count him as a superstar. [00:36:34] Speaker A: He's not in the same conversation as Darius Garland. [00:36:36] Speaker B: No. And Cele, I know our man in the booth over here. He watches a lot more basketball probably than Kenny and I combined. So what are your thoughts on the Cavs in round one right now? [00:36:47] Speaker A: Getting out coached, out, hustled and what the fuck is Jeddy Osman doing on the fucking court? [00:36:54] Speaker B: I don't know, man. [00:36:54] Speaker A: He's taking a lot of shots. How many has he made? Two? Threes? Is that what he's given us for four games? And who's he stopped? His main person who's been guarding has been the boy you've been talking about, Jalen Brunson. Well, the problem is that you don't have enough bigs. No, they're soft to be on the floor. So you need a size out there. Mobley soft. Allen soft. [00:37:21] Speaker B: That's actually a topic I want to talk about at length at a later time, but we'll just touch on it real quick here is I think it's a travesty what the Cavs have done with Mobley. He was on the verge of really breaking out as another superstar that they could have on their roster. They get Donovan Mitchell. So I understand some things have to change a little bit. I mean, that's a big name on your roster. But the lack of touches that Mobley's gotten, not just the playoffs like this year as a whole, and I think the Cavs have completely stunted his growth as far as breaking out as that next superstar that could possibly take us to the next level. I mean, he's still a great player. [00:38:03] Speaker A: But. [00:38:05] Speaker B: He should have reached that level this year, in my opinion. And he didn't because we held him back. [00:38:10] Speaker A: He needs to put 30 pounds of muscle on. Yeah, he is quite a frame. He got bullied all year by the bigs in the east. Like Joel embiid bullied him. [00:38:21] Speaker B: That's fair. I will say this, joel Embiid is special. I mean, he's up there with the. [00:38:28] Speaker A: Top guys, but that's who you're going to have to go against if you want to. [00:38:31] Speaker B: Well, my next point was just going to be that's a multi year project because not everybody's LeBron James and can put on or take off 30 pounds in an offseason. [00:38:40] Speaker A: Sure. No, I agree. [00:38:42] Speaker B: But yeah, I agree with you. He does need to get stronger. [00:38:45] Speaker A: He does. I just think that's a weight room. The worst part about watching this team is in this first round is you watch these Knicks and they're just not I think the Knicks are the team. This Cavs team was exactly why we said they need to get into the first round. They need to win. They need some playoff experience because game one, they came out and got hit in the mouth and didn't know what to do. They didn't know how to respond. Game two, they fought back a little bit, but I think when they got to New York, all of a sudden they were totally starstruck by the fact that they were in Madison Square Garden. And you have yeah, I mean, it. [00:39:21] Speaker B: Was games out for the game. They were just Ben Stiller sitting there. [00:39:24] Speaker A: Courtside Ben Stiller and Pete Davidson out there, like just dong waving. I don't know what it was, but these guys just look totally starstruck. And it's like the perfect set of circumstances for this team to fail to shoot. It's not even like the Knicks are playing. Not they're not at all. [00:39:45] Speaker B: The worst part about this whole thing, too, is the Knicks know that they have them. That they've known since game one that they have them. Just every interview, they just talk shit nonstop about how the Cavs can't hang with them and all that. It's terrible. And the Cavs have done nothing. And I think the problem is nothing. [00:40:03] Speaker A: I think we've given them this built in excuse of, well, you haven't been in the playoffs before, but somebody should tell the Sacramento Kings, like, you guys are young and don't know how to win. [00:40:13] Speaker B: I know the warriors came in as the lower seed, but the warriors have much more playoff experience, and Sacramento's just taking it to them. [00:40:20] Speaker A: Yeah. I mean, every year. So I think we've built this excuse in, and I think the excuse is just bullshit. Ultimately, you're paid the same. You get to be in All Star Games. You're playing with these guys 80 games a year. You know what you're up against. [00:40:33] Speaker B: Yeah. And I'll return just one more time before we move on to Donovan Mitchell. I mean, I hope this is an anomaly. I hope he gets it together for whatever games we have left in this playoff, in the playoffs, going forward, in future seasons. Because I'll tell you what, if he's going to drink like this every year, his tenure in Cleveland ain't going to last long. They'll move on from him. [00:40:53] Speaker A: I think he's totally in his head because of game one. I think that's all it is. I think he's totally in his head. [00:40:58] Speaker B: Because I hope so. Again, I don't want to shit all over Donovan Mitchell. I like Donovan Mitchell a lot as. [00:41:05] Speaker A: A player because I think he took 15 or 16 threes in game one. We're not making shots. Literally. We'd be in the games. In the last game yesterday, the end of the game, he had two shots that went in and out. [00:41:21] Speaker B: And again, I don't want to continual frustration. I want him to come around. I want him to be the guy that he was during the regular season that everybody hopes he's going to be for the Cavs for a long time. But like I said, if you do this multiple years in a row, like, say this happens again next year, they ain't going to put up with that for long. [00:41:39] Speaker A: And I just hate that the Knicks, like, all of a sudden, these Knicks fans, they think that this team is like, they're going to get destroyed in the next round. [00:41:46] Speaker B: F New York. F them all. [00:41:49] Speaker A: I hate New York. [00:41:50] Speaker B: Yeah. Let's move on. The Guardians season is still ongoing. [00:41:53] Speaker A: It's going to be going for a while. [00:41:55] Speaker B: Baseball is the longest season of all, but so far they've vastly underperformed vastly? I would say, yeah, 500. But you watch the games. They're not exciting right now. It's actually kind of difficult to watch the Guardians at the moment. [00:42:13] Speaker A: It's been terrible. [00:42:15] Speaker B: That's a good point. I will say they are dealing with a lot of injuries, especially with their pitching. And I guess look, we said it before. We said it in the last episode. Basically, what we need them to do is to stay around 500. They're not going to sneak up on anybody this year like they did last year. So they need to stay around 500 until they can get healthier because they had some injuries within the pitching rotation coming into the season. So stay as healthy as possible now, right around that 500 mark, stay in the race and then make a back half run. [00:42:48] Speaker A: Losing Tristan Mackenzie has been a disaster. Yeah. Because it happened so late in camp, and then it was initially thought to be just a couple of weeks. And then, what's? You on the 60 day DL or whatever now? [00:42:59] Speaker B: Yeah. So to your point, Vastly, is maybe an overstatement. I don't think there's a need to panic yet. No. It's not like baseball season is the longest season of all. [00:43:09] Speaker A: They've won five games like they're winning games. [00:43:11] Speaker B: We have 162,000 games to play. [00:43:14] Speaker A: That's a lot of games. Yeah. [00:43:16] Speaker B: So we've got plenty left to get back. [00:43:18] Speaker A: But some of these pitchers that they're pulling out of the woodwork, I mean, you wouldn't know them if they were bagging your groceries. [00:43:23] Speaker B: No. One thing I will say, though, one thing I'm very concerned about with the Guardians, I don't know if you saw. [00:43:28] Speaker A: This is Stephen Kwan, vastly underperformed. [00:43:32] Speaker B: He has underperformed. I don't know about vastly, but he has underperformed. Did you see the video of his daily journal that he posted to his Instagram? [00:43:38] Speaker A: I heard about this, but I haven't yet. [00:43:42] Speaker B: This is some of the juiciest news for the Guardians in quite some time. So he posted a video just flipping through that he has a daily journal that he keeps he's just flipping through the pages. And all it was was it said book four checkmark. That's all it said. Like, I completed a fourth Journal of Daily Thoughts or whatever. Well, Internet, sluice being what they are, got to work and took a couple of screen grabs of a specific page within said journal. In the journal, it appears to show his thoughts and potential numbers and negotiations regarding his salary and where he should end up with his next deal. And some of the highlights in this let me just go through them here. Number one, he lays out potential salary and bonuses for the rest of this deal and his next deal for potential bonuses for the rest of this deal, and then his next deal that he. [00:44:36] Speaker A: Wants to get. [00:44:39] Speaker B: On this page. It says something about Cleveland not paying players what they're worth. [00:44:42] Speaker A: That's not inaccurate. [00:44:44] Speaker B: No, but not something you would expect to see on something like this. It also says, and I quote, at least they upped it a little after their discussions. He also goes on to say something about a similar deal to Tristan's is what he was offered. I'm assuming that means Tristan McKenzie's. And finally, and this was probably the juiciest bit of information to come out of this entire thing was this is an actual quote from this thing. I love Miles. Talking about Miles Straw. I love Miles, but I am better than him in every facet of the like, why? Why would you post that to your Instagram story? [00:45:29] Speaker A: It's not smart. I thought he was saying Miles Garrett. [00:45:33] Speaker B: Oh, he's better than yeah, you're probably right. No, but look, I understand Cleveland has a long stance of not negotiating deals during the season, and it sounds like he may have brought this up to Cleveland and it didn't go well at all for him sometime recently. But to just it's not a good look, first of all. And then it points to Kwan's eventual departure from Cleveland. [00:46:00] Speaker A: Well, yeah. So a couple things, right? I mean, if all this is true. Sure. [00:46:05] Speaker B: I mean, it's true. There's a picture of it. [00:46:07] Speaker A: Okay. But pictures can be manipulated, especially by Internet sleuths bro. [00:46:13] Speaker B: It's not manipulated. This is just a screen grab. [00:46:15] Speaker A: Look at these pictures that I just manipulated of you. [00:46:19] Speaker B: I don't want to go here. Just stop it. Don't put that up there. I have no idea what this is going to be, and it better not. [00:46:26] Speaker A: Internet's loose. Some of them are really crafty. So kind of weird, too. People that journal are weird. [00:46:35] Speaker B: Kenny just shits on everyone that keeps a personal journal. [00:46:38] Speaker A: Do you keep a journal? Like a manifest journal? [00:46:40] Speaker B: I actually tried to for a while and it didn't go well. Yeah, I lasted about six days and I stopped keeping it because it's weird. It was just hard. [00:46:49] Speaker A: It's not for everybody. [00:46:50] Speaker B: How do you summarize no, but I mean, some people summarize your thought. It's just hard thing to do. [00:46:57] Speaker A: And the thing is, it's kind of like when you put it out on the Internet. Like if you type a status on Facebook that it's out there. [00:47:03] Speaker B: It's no longer a personal journal. [00:47:05] Speaker A: It's out there forever. [00:47:06] Speaker B: Internet journal. That's called a blog, idiot. [00:47:10] Speaker A: But the thing is, if you write it down, it's almost like you're asking for somebody to read it. [00:47:15] Speaker B: Yeah, that's fair. There's several jokes I can make here, but I'm not going to. [00:47:22] Speaker A: There's some things that are just better left in your head. Yeah, if I wrote down my innermost personal dots on paper, they'd be bad. I wouldn't be here right now. [00:47:32] Speaker B: Yeah, you are the biggest degenerate that I know. But I'm still friends with you, I guess. What does that say about me? But I guess bottom line here is there's always guaranteed to be some drama in Cleveland. Right. [00:47:48] Speaker A: Drama. Jenny drama. [00:47:51] Speaker B: As far as non Cleveland news, though, let's wrap up the Burning River Rundown. I've got a couple of quick stories that I just want to throw out. There nothing to do with Cleveland. [00:48:00] Speaker A: Nothing. [00:48:00] Speaker B: First one here, the Dodgers re signed Andrew I believe it's Tollez or Tolls, not sure how to pronounce last name, but they resigned this guy not to play, but so he can get full health care benefits and get the help he needs to deal with bipolar disorder. So that was something pretty cool on the Dodgers front. It was nice to see them taking care of a player that had mental health. [00:48:24] Speaker A: Continues to be a discussion in this country in general. [00:48:27] Speaker B: I just think in general, there's not enough organizations that have the ability to do this that actually do something like this. [00:48:35] Speaker A: Well, that's the thing, is that for so long, things like anxiety and depression were just almost looked down upon, like they either weren't real or you get over it. [00:48:46] Speaker B: Most people just thought they weren't real. [00:48:49] Speaker A: There's some of that. I'm sure there's people that could do more with their circumstances, but sometimes it truly is clinical. And I think for the first time in this country, we're having a really hard look and a real discussion around what that means and how it impacts people differently, which is good. So, yeah, like to see stories like that, for sure. [00:49:09] Speaker B: Good on the Dodgers. Next up here, the University of Colorado spring game sold out this year. Just show the side by side graphic of 2022 versus 2023. [00:49:21] Speaker A: It's there. [00:49:23] Speaker B: Holy shit. [00:49:24] Speaker A: There was, like, six people there last year. [00:49:26] Speaker B: Dude. The prime effect is real. I just don't know what it is about Dion Sanders that puts asses in the seats, but that guy knows how to fill them up. [00:49:36] Speaker A: I'm telling you, man, the people gone, it really does. This nil stuff is the first thing that has happened to college football and college athletics in a long time that could start to level the playing field a little bit. Because all of a sudden, a guy like Dion Sanders being your coach there and I could make a million dollars playing there, and the visibility that the guy like Dion brings well, and his. [00:50:01] Speaker B: Whole stick that he pitches to all of these kids he's bringing in is he's like, I was one of the biggest pros there was. Yeah, I know everybody in the industry. [00:50:11] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:50:11] Speaker B: So if you want to go to the NFL, you want to have a chance at the NFL, you come here and I'll get you there. [00:50:15] Speaker A: Honestly, I would love to see Colorado become a powerhouse. I don't know they will, but I would love to see it. [00:50:21] Speaker B: The prime effect is wild, though. I will say this, though, it does not come without some detriment. Deon Sanders went to the transfer portal and grabbed a whole bunch of players. Well, they had 24 transfers before the spring game, and they added another 15 transfers out of there afterwards. [00:50:40] Speaker A: Well, he told them on day one, he said, you might not have a job. You ain't here for the right reasons. You may not belong here. [00:50:47] Speaker B: Yeah. So next up here, the fans are calling for the XFL to fold after a four and six, Seattle Sea Dragons. Two Sea Dragons mentions today after a four and six Seattle Sea Dragons made the playoffs and a seven and three St. Louis BattleHawks team did not. I don't know how that happens, but it feels bad here. I'm not really going to get into this too much. There's just nothing like the NFL, absolutely nothing. [00:51:14] Speaker A: I would love nothing more than for the XFL to take root and have a legitimate second league. It's just so hard to do fair because you can't create the awareness around the athletes. [00:51:27] Speaker B: And the worst part about this, though, is The Rock is the Rock. He could literally come in and be like, I made a midnight rule and all of a sudden we're going to make St. Louis go to the playoffs and nobody would care. They'd actually be like, oh, that makes sense. They're seven and three, just like the WWE. Yeah. [00:51:41] Speaker A: Yeah. I don't and for right now, all these guys that are playing in this league are just scrubs right. I mean, it's not like you have top tier college athletes coming out. CJ Stroud is not going to play. [00:51:53] Speaker B: For the no, absolutely not. That job is taken by AJ. [00:51:58] Speaker A: McCarron. But when do you see he's the official passing leader in every iteration of the XFL. Now. Who AJ? McCarry? McCarron, he's the passing years leader in. [00:52:12] Speaker B: Every they were the best team in the league this year. They didn't make the playoffs. It doesn't make any sense. And then final story here. Aaron Rogers on the way over here, was officially it was announced he has been traded to the New York Jets. So the packers trade Rogers in their first rounder, number 15 for the New York Jets, first rounder, number 13, a second rounder this year, number 42, a six rounder this year, number two oh seven. And a 2024 conditional second rounder that becomes a first rounder if Rogers plays more than 65% of the snaps this year. And it has been announced he will be wearing number eight, despite Joe Namath giving permission to wear number twelve. That was retired. But the real question here is, will he be bringing Shailene Woodley? [00:52:55] Speaker A: I really hope he does. I would tell you that that was. [00:52:58] Speaker B: A softball question for you. [00:52:59] Speaker A: I would tell you that New York is very much a playground for someone like Shailene. I mean, that's where she belongs, in the bright lights. [00:53:08] Speaker B: You got her sounder? [00:53:09] Speaker A: Of course I have her sounder. Are you ready for it? [00:53:12] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:53:13] Speaker A: You're going to play it again on loop? [00:53:16] Speaker B: No, don't do that. It'll ruin the pot. [00:53:19] Speaker A: Yeah. I mean, I hope that Shailene does come with him. I was looking for a note that I had here. [00:53:25] Speaker B: What are the chances that the packers trade both an aging Bret Favre and an aging Aaron Rogers to the New York Jets? 100%. That's the chances. [00:53:38] Speaker A: I mean, he's just playing out literally the same career. Yeah. [00:53:41] Speaker B: So we got a couple of years here, and then he's going to go to the Vikings, take over for Kirk Cousins. [00:53:46] Speaker A: Yeah. And then he'll get bound and gated and he'll retire. [00:53:49] Speaker B: I was doing the Kirk Cousins dance. [00:53:51] Speaker A: You like that? [00:53:52] Speaker B: You like that? Get that sounder in there. [00:53:55] Speaker A: Speaking of the jets, okay, I found this fascinating that the jets are the only team jets are trash. They are trash, but they're the only team to have won a Super Bowl without winning an AFC title game. [00:54:11] Speaker B: That's because they're trash. But they do have a Super Bowl and the Browns don't. So what does that say about us? [00:54:20] Speaker A: All right, I won't explain. [00:54:22] Speaker B: Wait, please explain. [00:54:23] Speaker A: They didn't exist yet. It was two leagues at the ah, well, back when Joe Namath played Fun Fact. [00:54:29] Speaker B: It should have been in Vex for days, but it wasn't. All right. [00:54:33] Speaker A: All right. [00:54:35] Speaker B: Kenny Thunder. [00:54:36] Speaker A: Whoa. [00:54:37] Speaker B: Do you know what that brings us to? [00:54:38] Speaker A: What does it bring us to? [00:54:39] Speaker B: It brings us to the Burning River sports guest hot take hotline. Listen, I'm getting tired of explaining this. The Hot Take Hotline is where you call in and you give us your hot takes. You don't tell us, hey, I'm calling because I entered the Nick Chubb giveaway. [00:54:54] Speaker A: Let me play just the one caller guy. [00:54:58] Speaker B: All right? I'm just calling about the Nick Chubb jersey. Not a hot take. [00:55:05] Speaker A: Not a hot take. [00:55:05] Speaker B: That's the worst take. Not the one look, I'm sorry if you're the guy that sent that, but worst take ever. Like this terrible take. It's not even a take. There's a phrase. [00:55:14] Speaker A: The point is that we have a platform to talk shit to you every week or two, and we're giving you. [00:55:19] Speaker B: This opportunity Cleveland teams, and we're giving you the opportunity to say whatever you want about the Cleveland teams, about us, about the coaches, about the players, about anything you want to talk about. You could talk Cleveland politics, you could talk anything. [00:55:31] Speaker A: Justin Bib. [00:55:31] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:55:32] Speaker A: We know that Cleveland sports fans are the most passionate sports fans that are out there, and we want to hear from you. [00:55:37] Speaker B: Yeah, so how do they call in, Kenny? [00:55:40] Speaker A: Well, you call in and you dial the number 3302-2780-8033-0227-8080-3302-278, and you leave us your hot takes, and then we put you on air. [00:55:55] Speaker B: That's it? That's it. All right, so you know what time it is. Let's take a quick revenue break, and we'll come back here and talk about the draft. [00:56:05] Speaker A: I don't want to be drafted. [00:56:09] Speaker B: Kenny. Have you downloaded Apple TV yet? [00:56:12] Speaker A: Not yet. Ronnie. Should I? [00:56:13] Speaker B: Yeah. Man there's. Some good stuff on there. I think I'm going to check out the new show shrinking. [00:56:18] Speaker A: Shrinking? What's it about? [00:56:21] Speaker B: Well, Kenny, Jimmy is struggling to grieve the loss of his wife. [00:57:14] Speaker B: All right, Kenny. It's time for the Cleveland Browns draft preview. The Cleveland Browns are now on the clock. [00:57:26] Speaker A: Should I use the draft music? Like the actual try and get cease and desist. [00:57:31] Speaker B: Don't do that. The NFL is brutal, man. [00:57:32] Speaker A: See how many cease and desist letters we can get. [00:57:34] Speaker B: We'll just stick them up here. No, don't do that. All right, so we're recording on Monday. However, the day that this podcast releases will be Thursday, April 27, which just so happens to be the first day of the NFL draft. [00:57:49] Speaker A: It is. It is. Wow. [00:57:51] Speaker B: And before we get into all the draft preview items that we have for you today, let me just say this. This is the least build up for a draft that I can ever remember in Cleveland. [00:58:00] Speaker A: I don't even care. [00:58:01] Speaker B: I literally don't care. There's a reason why I know we're a Browns podcast, but we didn't spend a lot of time on draft preview for you guys because I just don't give a shit. [00:58:11] Speaker A: I mean, we have started talking about the draft most years in October. It's true. [00:58:19] Speaker B: It's painful, but it's true. [00:58:20] Speaker A: It is three days before but I love you. It is three days before the draft, and I could literally care less. [00:58:28] Speaker B: Oh, yeah. [00:58:28] Speaker A: Now we're going to talk about it because it's the offseason and we need things to talk about. [00:58:32] Speaker B: Yeah. And I mean, it's important. It is important. [00:58:34] Speaker A: Sure, it's always important. [00:58:36] Speaker B: But I will say this. It is probably a very good thing that it's not so exciting to us anymore, at least for the time being. Who knows what the future holds before. [00:58:46] Speaker A: We get into the Browns altogether? Who goes number one, do you think? [00:58:50] Speaker B: Who goes number one? I'm going CJ. Straub. [00:58:53] Speaker A: Yeah. Do you think that's who they'll actually pick, or you think that's who should go first? [00:58:57] Speaker B: I think ultimately that's who's actually going to go number one. [00:59:00] Speaker A: Yeah. Everything else is a smokescreen? [00:59:02] Speaker B: I think so. What about you? [00:59:04] Speaker A: This has been fun because I agree CJ. Strat is the pick. I can't imagine. [00:59:08] Speaker B: I just think that as much as all the different intangibles that they talk about with each quarterback, I think CJ. Straud is the best player in this. We're we are biased, I'll give you that. We're Ohio State fans. But you just look at his body of work and just how pro ready. [00:59:22] Speaker A: He is, and I just don't think they can afford to miss. [00:59:24] Speaker B: Right. I agree. And I think out of all of them, he's the most surefire pick. [00:59:28] Speaker A: Yeah, I think he's the most NFL ready quarterback, and they cannot miss. I mean, he has all the measurables, a great resume, athletic as hell. [00:59:37] Speaker B: Thoughts on this from the big Seal. [00:59:40] Speaker A: Yeah, I love CJ. But I think Bryce Young's going one. [00:59:45] Speaker B: Oh, he disagrees with us. Fair. You think they're going to take the little guy? [00:59:49] Speaker A: I mean, I'm not saying I agree with that. [00:59:51] Speaker B: It's worked out for all the last few people that have taken little guys. Hey, we had our yeah, us, Kyler Murray. It's all worked out well anyway, so yeah, I mean, like I said, it's just been extremely OD not being excited for the draft, but are we going. [01:00:08] Speaker A: To watch the draft, the first round? Are you going to watch it? [01:00:11] Speaker B: I'll probably keep it on and see. I still find it very interesting to see where the other see the Young kids, especially I'll be paying attention, know division rivals true. [01:00:23] Speaker A: Because they all have draft we, unlike. [01:00:25] Speaker B: Us, we don't have any. Now, we all know that the Browns, as we just mentioned, don't have picks on day one, and it kind of feels like we don't have any at all, actually, after the Watson trade, but we do have some we do have multiple picks in this draft. We have eight total, to be exact. So let's just break those down for you here. In round three, we have two picks. No picks till round three, but in round three, we have two picks. Pick number 74 from the New York Jets that came in the pick swap in the Elijah Moore trade. We also have pick number 98, which. [01:00:59] Speaker A: Was a compensatory selection from what's his face. [01:01:09] Speaker B: Agankwa or whatever his name was. [01:01:11] Speaker A: Yeah, because he's an executive at the Vikings now. [01:01:14] Speaker B: Yeah. Round. [01:01:18] Speaker A: The big seal is losing it. He's out. He's done. He's totally gone round what's his name? ODA. All right, I don't want to get canceled. I'm done. [01:01:34] Speaker B: In round four, we have two picks as well, pick number 111 and pick number 126. That comes from Minnesota. In round five, we have two picks. Pick 142 from the Rams and pick 144. In round six, we have one pick, pick number 190. And in round seven, we have pick number 229. So Andrew, Barry and the boys will still be busy throughout this draft, but I guess first question here. Kenny, going into this draft, what do you see is the biggest areas of need? And I think these are the same for both of us. So I guess we should probably just run through these. What do you got? [01:02:09] Speaker A: Number one, Quincy Mofo. Is that his Quincy? [01:02:12] Speaker B: She's calling Quincy. [01:02:13] Speaker A: Mofo. What the heck? [01:02:17] Speaker B: What just happened? [01:02:19] Speaker A: I can't remember his name. [01:02:20] Speaker B: Just shut up. What is our biggest area of need? [01:02:22] Speaker A: Okay, look here. I got to say something about this because I've heard a lot of talk over the last week or two about Quincy Mofo, adobe Quincy Mofo, about Brown's needs. And look, here's the thing. The number one need on this team is linebacker. [01:02:41] Speaker B: It's got to be linebacker. [01:02:42] Speaker A: I keep hearing people talk about same. [01:02:44] Speaker B: Bring anything else besides linebacker? [01:02:47] Speaker A: A wide receiver because they want to keep bolstering that unit for Deshaun. I've heard a lot of talk about running back because AB loves drafting running. [01:02:55] Speaker B: Back because everybody's starting to see the writing on the wall that we pointed out at the end of the season, and everybody got mad at us for that. Nick Chubb isn't going to be here much longer. [01:03:03] Speaker A: Yeah, it's unfortunate, but he just won't. And I've also seen a lot of talk about reloading the offensive line because of the questions around Conklin's health, around Jed Wills, and even around Wyatt Teller's health, because he wasn't healthy for a lot last year. But here's the thing. Every returning linebacker you have, who is the returning linebackers? [01:03:23] Speaker B: J-O-K-J-O-K. Anthony Walker. [01:03:26] Speaker A: Anthony Walker. Phillips. [01:03:28] Speaker B: Phillips. [01:03:29] Speaker A: And sioni takitake. [01:03:30] Speaker B: Takitake. [01:03:31] Speaker A: What do all four of those people have in common? [01:03:32] Speaker B: Best sounder. [01:03:34] Speaker A: They finished the year on reserve. [01:03:36] Speaker B: They all get hurt. [01:03:38] Speaker A: Have you ever seen the show Mash? That's our middle linebackering, Core Mash. I need Alan Alda and Loretta Swit to come out here like, here we go. What's the mash song? I can't play that season. Desist, like, all of our linebackers were hurt last year. [01:03:52] Speaker B: Yeah, how can they all of them? [01:03:54] Speaker A: Every single one of them. [01:03:55] Speaker B: They were just trying to find bodies to finish the season. [01:03:57] Speaker A: They're all coming off of injury. [01:03:59] Speaker B: Like, oh, you're a free safety. Well, you play linebacker this week. [01:04:01] Speaker A: They're all coming off of injury. No one knows how healthy any of them are going to be. Sure, we hope that they're all fine, but that you can hope in one hand and shit in the other. We know how that goes, which one fills up faster. [01:04:11] Speaker B: Yeah, I like that saying to me. [01:04:14] Speaker A: You have to address linebacker. [01:04:17] Speaker B: An old Indian. [01:04:18] Speaker A: You could draft two linebackers in this draft, and I would be okay with it. [01:04:21] Speaker B: Yeah, I agree with you. I mean, it is completely mind boggling to me that nobody talks about linebacker for exactly the reasons that you just said. I just don't get it. And then as far as talking about offensive linemen or wide receivers. Does Cleveland sports pundits not realize that we literally have like a two to three year window where this is our shot to win a Super Bowl? You don't worry about offensive line that is stacked. Wide receiver. There probably is some room for improvement, but I would be fine rolling into the season with what we have right now. Running back. Again, we're stacked there. You don't worry about that. At this moment, the only other area of major concern that I can see on our roster is still defensive tackle. [01:05:09] Speaker A: Yeah, you still haven't proven to anyone you can stop the run. So Jim shorts jim shorts or not, we don't know. [01:05:16] Speaker B: Can't wait to see what our gym shorts look like. [01:05:17] Speaker A: What this team's going to look like when you play third stringers for Atlanta? Running the ball? [01:05:22] Speaker B: Yeah, it's just crazy me. So I would say overwhelmingly, number one need is linebacker, all linebackers. [01:05:29] Speaker A: And it's not that I don't like Takitake or J-O-K or Anthony Walker. [01:05:34] Speaker B: I really like those guys. [01:05:34] Speaker A: I was high on bringing Anthony Walker back. I think he's a good veteran locker room guy. What I don't know is if any of these guys are going to be as healthy as they've ever been, as athletic as they've ever been, and as strong as they've ever been. Because what happens with this game is you get beat down and eventually you're just not as good as you once were. [01:05:54] Speaker B: Yep. So number one, linebacker. Number two I just mentioned it. Defensive tackle still, especially with all the concerns with Perry and Winfrey and him most likely being cut in the next few weeks, I mean, they're going to need to bolster that jail time. And then I would say after that is where you get into I would say it's a tie between wide receiver and offensive line at that point because we have a lot of DBS. I mean, you could always use depth pieces, but we have a lot of DBS. Their defensive ends are pretty solid unless you're going for a depth piecing. [01:06:25] Speaker A: The realistic Pragmatic part of me says you're not picking early, so you just pick the best available. So if you have somebody that's out there in one of those positions, then sure, you draft them. But I just think there needs to be some discussion around adding a linebacker. Whether it's an outside or a middle, I don't care. Somebody that can bolster the interior of that defense. [01:06:47] Speaker B: Yeah, I agree. So what we're going to do here is we aren't going to do any mock drafts. I keep seeing all these people do mock drafts for the Browns. It's absolutely freaking pointless. We don't draft until the third round. It's a complete crapshoot. Who's even available at that point? [01:07:04] Speaker A: Guess who the 75th player available is going to be? [01:07:07] Speaker B: Nobody knows. So I don't want to go through and do a mock draft. I think it's just a fruitless effort on our part at this point. [01:07:16] Speaker A: It's easier to do in round one. Right? [01:07:18] Speaker B: Right. You have a better idea where those. [01:07:20] Speaker A: Guys are going to go. [01:07:21] Speaker B: So instead, what I drew up for us today is kenny, I want to know, is there a draft prospect? Again, we don't have a pick till the third round. So is there one prospect and this is a realistic opportunity for the Browns to trade up. I want to know, is there someone you would trade up? [01:07:37] Speaker A: Is there somebody that gets me realistically. [01:07:41] Speaker B: I'm not talking like a top ten guy, a top 15 guy. There's no way the Browns have the assets to go and get that. [01:07:45] Speaker A: So I can't take CJ. Stroud? [01:07:47] Speaker B: No, I'm talking a guy that we could realistically trade up for and get that would help our team a lot and make an impact right now. [01:07:55] Speaker A: It's funny you should ask that. Red hot Ronnie. [01:07:57] Speaker B: They don't call me Red hot Ronnie Jams for nothing. [01:08:00] Speaker A: They used to call you Porterhouse. [01:08:02] Speaker B: That hurt. [01:08:03] Speaker A: I do have a guy. I have a thought. Who's your guy? The one guy that I think they should absolutely do something. Who is it to trade up for? Package some picks together. You have two third rounders now. Maybe you could do something with that. Is Trenton Simpson, linebacker out of Clemson. [01:08:22] Speaker B: Clemson guy. [01:08:23] Speaker A: He's projected to be a second rounder somewhere in the 50s right now, so to jump from 74 to mid 50s isn't necessarily out of the question. Look, this dude is six foot, 3240 pounds, and he ran a four four three in the 40. He's big, he's strong, he's athletic, he has range, he can get side to side lateral movements and Agility. He's an absolute beast of a man. [01:08:48] Speaker B: Did you say six 3240? And he's pushing four three speed? [01:08:55] Speaker A: Yes. He's closer to four three than he is four five. So this guy has all the tools. He can play inside, he can play outside. And I think he complements the guys that you already have that are coming off of injury. It could because he's versatile and can play anywhere. Now, I do think it's going to take some assets to move up and get him. But look, I think this draft is a crapshoot anyway. [01:09:18] Speaker B: If you walk away, if you walked. [01:09:19] Speaker A: Away with just Trenton Simpson at the end of this draft, you trade your whole draft for Trenton Simpson, I think he can play for you for the next ten years. [01:09:25] Speaker B: Well, a couple of things here. I really think Andrew Barry is going to be active in this draft way more than people expect him to be. [01:09:31] Speaker A: I agree. [01:09:32] Speaker B: He's always active during the draft. My second thing is, if you're looking to trade up, do not put Anthony Schwartz in the package because that'll actually devalue what we have to offer. [01:09:43] Speaker A: They'll give you less picks. [01:09:44] Speaker B: Yeah. They'll say you actually have to pay us now, so don't do that. But it's funny that you go linebacker, and I guess we just talked about how desperately we need linebacking help, but my pick is Jack Campbell, middle linebacker for Iowa. This dude's also projected to go in the second round. He's 65, 249, big solid guy. He had 125 tackles at Iowa, including 59 solo, two interceptions. But this is where he really gets me, is when you start to break down his game and all these advanced analytics and things like that that actually grade these players on how often they're in position. [01:10:23] Speaker A: And we know the Browns love analytics. [01:10:25] Speaker B: They do. So a couple of things for you. He had a 91.9 overall grade at Iowa, 92.9 coverage grade, an 87 run grade run defense grade, an 8.9% missed tackle rate, and a 65.3 pass rush grade. And he has one of the highest Ras grades, which is relative Athletic Score, I believe is what that stands for, that you could possibly get at a 9.98 out of ten. I think if we draft this guy and he's just going to be your answer at middle linebacker for like ten. [01:11:02] Speaker A: Years, you know what I like most about him? What? His name is Jack Campbell. [01:11:08] Speaker B: Just the most he just sounds like. [01:11:11] Speaker A: He should play middle linebacker. [01:11:13] Speaker B: Just the most basic name. That's Jack. He's our solid middle linebacker. [01:11:19] Speaker A: When they named that kid, they were like, I'm going to pick your future career for you. You're a linebacker. [01:11:25] Speaker B: But in all honesty, this dude's about as close to a sure thing as you can get, especially for a second rounder. So, I mean, I just think that if we could trade up to get him again I think you found your middle linebacker for years. [01:11:36] Speaker A: Yeah. Good pick, good pick. [01:11:39] Speaker B: So, Cele, you got anybody that stands out for you? He's laughing at me, apparently. No, he's got no, he's still out. He's got not a single guy. [01:11:49] Speaker A: He's still down. Jalen Hyatt. [01:11:55] Speaker B: Oh, he gave us a name. Jalen Hyatt. Huh? [01:11:58] Speaker A: Tell us about Jalen. [01:11:59] Speaker B: Tell us about better. Is he as good as Jalen Brunson? [01:12:04] Speaker A: We'll see. But he was on that Tennessee team this year, know, upset Alabama. [01:12:10] Speaker B: What position? [01:12:11] Speaker A: Wide receiver. [01:12:12] Speaker B: When's he projected to go? [01:12:14] Speaker A: I've heard third round. [01:12:15] Speaker B: Oh, well, yeah, that's attainable. We might not even need to trade for him. [01:12:19] Speaker A: You might not, and it might be. I mean, you can never have too many good wide receivers worth in that. [01:12:25] Speaker B: Wide receiver. I mean, if he's not projected to go to the third round, that's not unrealistic at all. One of the wide receiver is one of the hot button issues for the Browns, apparently. [01:12:37] Speaker A: I have big hopes for big hopes for Elijah Moore this year. [01:12:43] Speaker B: I do, too. I think he's going to break out. [01:12:45] Speaker A: A game changer for us. [01:12:47] Speaker B: I'm there with you. So real quick here, I do want to talk about a couple draft prospects that kind of stuck out to me as I was reading through some of these stories, and they've actually been tied to the Browns up to this point. The Browns have taken a look at them. So the first one I'm going to start with here is Sydney Brown, safety. [01:13:06] Speaker A: Out of Illinois and a line eye. [01:13:08] Speaker B: Oh, yeah. 510, 211 pounds. He's basically me way better looking than you. Well, there's that. He ran a four 4740. He had a 78.4 PFF grade at Illinois. Career stats include 320 tackles, ten interceptions, 16 pass deflections, and ten tackle for loss. [01:13:29] Speaker A: 320 tackles. So his brain is mush. Already got the CT. [01:13:35] Speaker B: I wasn't going to go there, but. [01:13:38] Speaker A: We'Re there no, in all seriousness, that's. [01:13:41] Speaker B: A lot of tackles for safety. [01:13:43] Speaker A: It's a lot of tackles for a safety. And that's what you need, somebody that's not afraid to put their head down and make a play. [01:13:49] Speaker B: Yeah. So he's projected as a second or third rounder. So I guess that one probably just depends on where he falls, if they want to trade up for him, whatever the case may be. But next up, we got Grant Dubos, who this is where we start talking about wide receivers. And there's a couple of them. This guy and the next guy, both tied to the Browns are wide receivers. So Grant Dubos is from Charlote. He's six, 3200 pounds, 64 receptions, 792 yards, nine touchdowns, 12.4 yards per catch, a 71.6 overall grade, a 72.8 receiving grade, 44.8% contested catch rate, a 62.2 grade versus man coverage, and an 8.79 Ras score. [01:14:38] Speaker A: Now, Ras is out of ten. [01:14:40] Speaker B: Out of ten. That's still pretty. [01:14:41] Speaker A: 8.79 out of 100 is not very good. [01:14:44] Speaker B: No, that would be much worse. But he's a projected 6th or 7th rounder, so this is more of like a later pick for the Browns. [01:14:52] Speaker A: Yeah, and we get DPJ in the 6th round, so true. You can sometimes find guys that can play. I like his size at six three. That's something that this receiving core is lacking a bit, is just overall size. I mean, you have Njoku, but he's. [01:15:05] Speaker B: Not really a so next up, we got Andre Iocevis. I think that's how you say his last name. [01:15:11] Speaker A: I like it because it looks like Leviosis. Like Harry Potter. [01:15:14] Speaker B: Harry Potter. [01:15:15] Speaker A: Yeah. [01:15:18] Speaker B: But there's one he's a wide receiver from Princeton. And, you know, we like our Ivy League boys. [01:15:24] Speaker A: Andrew Berry is so wet right now, him and Stefanic. [01:15:29] Speaker B: This guy's, he does have good stats here, though. 632-0564 receptions for 924 yards, seven touchdowns, 14.4 yards per catch, an 83.8 overall grade, an 86.3 receiving grade, a 68.8% contested catch rate that's insane. And a 9.96 rass grade. Okay, wait, he graded as elite or great in every category. [01:16:01] Speaker A: So why is he projected so late? [01:16:03] Speaker B: He went to Princeton. Do they even play football? [01:16:09] Speaker A: And his name is Leviosa. [01:16:11] Speaker B: I think he went to Princeton and they were just like, you're 63205. We think you're a wide receiver because they don't actually play football. [01:16:17] Speaker A: Conventional wisdom. [01:16:19] Speaker B: But yeah, he is projected as a 6th or a 7th rounder. So I think honestly this is a guy that you definitely take a flyer on, because if you can get him in the 6th round, just looking at his stats and his career in college, absolutely worth it. I don't care where you played. [01:16:34] Speaker A: I would love to have a guy with that size that could get up and get balls. [01:16:38] Speaker B: Yeah, get balls. So do you have any other draft prospects that have been tied to the Browns that maybe we should keep an eye on? [01:16:48] Speaker A: Put me on the spot here. Yeah, just off top there was running back out of Ole Miss was one. That because we know how much Andrew Barry loves to draft. Take a flyer on a running backs. Zach Evans. Six foot, 215. He had a really nice year last year. I just know that given the fact that Nick Chubb is not for long here, probably this is one of those guys that is speedy, can catch the ball to the backfield. Kind of fits that role of Utilitarian back. [01:17:23] Speaker B: Kind of like a Christian McCaffrey type, isn't it? [01:17:25] Speaker A: Yeah. So just athletic. And I think that we've talked before, when they replace Nick Chubb, it's going to be by committee with a couple of guys that look like Jerome Ford, Demetrik Felton and maybe Zach Evans. That's one name that I've seen. Another running back, too, that I saw potentially was Evan Hall out of Northwestern. But he's projected to be a pretty late round pick, so we'll see if he gets drafted and if he's even going to make a team coming from Northwestern. [01:18:00] Speaker B: What about you, big Seal? You got anybody? Just one guy. Nobody. All right. He's got nobody. [01:18:06] Speaker A: Jackson and Jigba. [01:18:08] Speaker B: Jackson, Smith and Jigba. That's his guy. But this is realistic, guys, so he's not there one more guy that I want to talk about. Anthony Kendall. Cornerback out of Baldwin Wallace. [01:18:20] Speaker A: What do you say when we interview you? How much money do you make a year before taxes? I'm actually not comfortable with answering that. Come on, we're doing the interview now, not you. [01:18:32] Speaker B: All right. Anthony Kendall is a d three cornerback coming out of Baldon Wallace right here in Northeast, Ohio in Berea. He is currently drawing interest from several NFL ball clubs, including the Dolphins, Texans, Rams, Falcons, Cardinals, and our very own Cleveland Browns. Kendall was an All American at Baldwin Wallace and stands at 511 180 pounds at his pro day in Toledo. He jumped eleven one in the broad jump, which would have been fourth among cornerbacks at the combine. He posted a 39.5 inch vertical, which would have been 6th among cornerbacks, and he posted a 7.3 cone drill, which would have been fourth among cornerbacks overall. He scored an 8.31 Rass score. That's a relative athletic score. And although he was docked a little bit for being on the smaller side. His overall score. For his overall score, he did receive a composite speed grade that ranked great and a composite explosion grade that ranked elite. There are currently only athletes on rosters in the NFL, and this young man is looking to become number seven. So without further delay, anthony Kendall. Welcome to the Burning River Sportscast. [01:19:40] Speaker A: Welcome to the show. [01:19:43] Speaker B: Yeah. So, yeah, let's just jump right into this thing. I'm going to kind of run down our list here. We got a few questions for you and just very nice having you on. We're so excited about it. So let's get right into it. First off here, tell us a little bit about your journey and how you ended up at Baldwin Wallace. [01:20:03] Speaker C: So small town kid coming from Newport, richie, Florida. Paid Salvation Army football growing up. Ended up going to a small high school and cloak and transferred my senior year, graduated from River Ridge. A couple coaches came down, took a visit and got me up to BW to come look at the campus. Wasn't really getting looked at by a lot of schools, and so I saw that a team was interested in me, and so I took the opportunity and I made the most of it. Man, I've been at BW, graduated this past. [01:20:34] Speaker B: Nice, nice. So you mentioned it here, and I knew this coming in that you're a Florida kid. How was it adjusting to our lovely weather up here at Northeast Ohio? [01:20:46] Speaker C: It was cool for the most know, I remember the day first seeing snow. I hadn't seen snow prior. Me and my roommate went outside. It was dark out, and it was just snowing, man. And it felt like a movie. [01:20:56] Speaker B: But I had to get an amazing thing. We grew up with it, so it's an amazing thing. When you hear somebody hasn't seen snow 20 years, that's awesome. I guess kind of to shift gears here, you came to a smaller school because you weren't getting those bigger looks, but you obviously had confidence in yourself. When did you know as an athlete that you were different than most athletes that you were playing? [01:21:24] Speaker C: You know, at an early age, I'd say that my parents really instilled in me that hard work would pay. So when I was younger, I played at Salvation Army. It's a crazy story. There was a Mites Division and Mighty Mites and Mites Division, and so I would play on the regular division, and my dad would coach on the upper division, and so I would play a game and then right after play at the upper division. And so you look back, man, Salvation Army actually made a rule after that, and you could only play on one division. And so right then and there, I knew that I was, quote unquote, different. And so it just carried over and my mindset of just working hard and it'll pay off, right? [01:22:07] Speaker B: Yeah, clearly. It has. You're getting looked at by plenty of teams here. So what do you big there's kind of a two parter here. It's a big jump from Division Three to the NFL. So first part, what kind of pressure comes with that? And second part is what do you think are going to be the biggest challenges when adjusting to the pro game? [01:22:29] Speaker C: Yeah, so I mean, as far as pressure goes, I've been playing football all my life, obviously is going to be a definite change in pace, game speed wise, the playbook. And so those two things are going to be very different. I'd say just how to counteract that or be better with just to be a student of the game like I've been and soaking up a lot of the coaching points and watching from the examples in front of me from the veterans. And I think being a student of the game was going to help me a lot. It's going to help develop me as a player because I think that I haven't even reached my full potential. And so with that being said, sky's the limit. [01:23:08] Speaker A: You mentioned being a student of the game, so do you watch a lot of film? Are there certain things that you look. [01:23:13] Speaker B: For when you're watching film? [01:23:14] Speaker C: Yes, sir. Yeah, tons of film study. Whether it's against my opponents or practice film, just trying to be the best athlete that I can be on the field, as well as trying to understand the linebackers assignments, the safety's assignments, and the D line, the more I understand their responsibilities, the quicker that I'm able to play. [01:23:35] Speaker B: If you know where they're going to be or not going to be, you know where you need to help. I know how that goes. So next up here, you mentioned that some of the challenges or the biggest challenge is probably going to be speed of the game. How do you plan on overcoming that challenge? I know you mentioned being a student of the game and continuing to learn. Is there any resources, any insight you can give us as to how you're going to make the jump or just. [01:24:02] Speaker A: What have you been doing to know? [01:24:05] Speaker C: I've been, I've been training with Coach Oshawn Fitness over in Clearwater, and I've been getting a lot of reps with other guys, free agents actually in the area. And so just seeing that the competition level obviously is going to be a little bit different when it comes to front seven. But I think that my athleticism speaks for itself. I'm able to keep up with those types of guys. You've seen the numbers and you read them off. And so I think that's part of the game, I'll be able to go ahead and make that transition. Like I said, just the film study and just the playbook is my biggest worry a little bit. [01:24:38] Speaker A: Can you talk us through? So obviously, coming from a smaller school, just like. What this process has been for. You know, traditionally you're thinking about big schools and combine and all this stuff and obviously your route's a little bit different. Can you speak to just what life has been like since football season ended and you're looking at how do I get prepared for the NFL draft? [01:25:01] Speaker C: Yeah, it's been exciting. I've been learning how to enjoy it, taking it day by day. I was going from worrying, not even able to be getting into a pro day to putting up the numbers now. I didn't know if I was going to have an agent. Agents now reaching out to me, trying to become my agent. [01:25:17] Speaker B: You just signed recently, didn't sir? [01:25:21] Speaker C: Mr. Christopher overton with Bleed sports group. Shout out to them, man. They've been doing a great job just getting me out there and getting me in the right face of the right people. And it's been exciting. Like I said, just seeing the fruits of my labor come to light and potentially get an opportunity to be able to make a dream come true. [01:25:39] Speaker A: Awesome. [01:25:39] Speaker B: Like we keep saying, we're excited for you. It's always good to see a kid that went to school locally here get an opportunity like this. [01:25:47] Speaker A: There's a lot of buz, right mean just just like a Google search on your name is pretty exciting for us right now because I know the Browns. I read an article today that they've reached out several times and have talked to you. So probably pretty cool considering you went to school right down the street, basically from Cleveland, Browns, cross country, mortgage field house and all. Yeah, we're real excited. [01:26:09] Speaker B: So kind of switching gears here just a little bit. Looking more towards the actual draft know, we talked prep, we talked that sort of thing. What round do you think you're going in? [01:26:20] Speaker C: Man, if I had a crystal ball, I would go ahead and make that prediction. But I'm all for just staying patient and seeing what a team is going to take a chance on me. I don't necessarily know what's going to happen. [01:26:33] Speaker B: What round do you think you should go in? [01:26:38] Speaker C: The perfect answer right now. Round one. [01:26:40] Speaker A: I should go around one. [01:26:44] Speaker B: There's going to be a lot of teams that if you don't go round one, there's going to be a lot of teams that pass on you, right. That you're going to remember you play with that chip on your shoulder. [01:26:52] Speaker A: That's right. Let me ask you this. Obviously the focus is a draft right now and we're all rooting for you and hope know, the draft is everything. [01:27:03] Speaker B: We hope it could be. [01:27:04] Speaker A: But would you like playing in other leagues like XFL or USFL, like if that time came? [01:27:14] Speaker C: Yeah, man. All I want to do is play football ultimately and be able to live off of just I've been playing football for know, because I love the game and I'm open to, you know, all those organizations, all those leagues, man, it would be exciting to be able to just play on TV. [01:27:33] Speaker A: Just loving the game. [01:27:34] Speaker B: Yep. Kenny, you mentioned the Browns kind of talking to them on multiple occasions. Anthony, I saw you nod a little bit. They have been in contact a few times. Are they the team that's given you the most attention, would you say? [01:27:53] Speaker C: I say that I spoken with them the most, just being that they were at all three pro days as far as getting into a meeting room and speaking with them. After the Ashland one, that was the closest interaction I got with the team. NFL scouts in particular. I've definitely got a number of calls, just basic background questions, their routine, but that's pretty much it cool. [01:28:17] Speaker B: In a perfect world, what team do you want to play for the most in the NFL? [01:28:24] Speaker C: I definitely want to play somewhere in Florida, give my family a chance to actually come check out some games. Being in Ohio, I didn't really have any family up here, and so it would be special to be able to play for one of the three teams down in Fla and not to mention no state tax. [01:28:41] Speaker B: That's always a good thing. That's always good. We both lived there for about two years, and it was phenomenal. [01:28:48] Speaker A: It was fun. So were there moments that you were able to have family come to games or games maybe, that were kind of away games that were semi closer to home for you during your college career? [01:29:01] Speaker C: Yeah, so my brothers came up for about two games out of my four years, five years that I've been at school. But the last senior game was the one that my entire family was able to come, and it was the most special game to me, being able to see them in the stands. My dad actually came to that was his first game, and so I actually had a really good game personally. Obviously the outcome didn't come the way we wanted, but seeing my family in the stands, it was a real special moment. [01:29:27] Speaker A: Who. [01:29:27] Speaker B: Did you guys plan your senior night? [01:29:29] Speaker C: The purple team? [01:29:31] Speaker B: Yeah. I wasn't sure if it was your senior night or not, so we'll talk a little bit more about that in just a second. I have a question for you next up here. Is there a particular scheme or style of defense that you like more than others? [01:29:47] Speaker C: Yeah, so, I mean, I've played a number of different schemes. Coach Hibbert pride itself on mixing it up, but the favorite scheme that I like to play with is the I like having that linebacker to be able to also, you know, that that dime package. Nickel package. Freshman year, I came in and we had a nickel package to where I was able to be in the slot, cover those tight end slot, wide receivers. And I think that's very elusive, and it's a cool scheme to have. [01:30:15] Speaker A: I was just going to say, I think the thing that stuck out to me watching just your highlights that I was able to find online was, you don't mind hitting people. [01:30:26] Speaker B: Oh, no. [01:30:28] Speaker A: I saw you pop a top on a kid on a kickoff return. That was pretty special. [01:30:34] Speaker B: Yeah. So, I mean, I guess that kind of leads me into my next question here. And my final question before we kind of get into some rapid fire stuff is what will you bring to an NFL ball club that will set you apart? [01:30:46] Speaker C: My leadership style, my hardworking ability. First in, last one out, a guy who's high, you know, morals, man, faith, family, respect. And I'm the guy that's going to go out there and make plays, special teams, defense, and fit a scheme wherever you need me. And so, yeah, that's pretty much the gist of what I'm going to bring. [01:31:06] Speaker B: To a team and doing it with physicality, obviously. [01:31:09] Speaker C: Right, exactly. [01:31:10] Speaker B: All right, so let's get into these rapid fire questions that I have. There's ten questions here. We're going to go quick, just right off the top of your head. Whatever pops in there first. [01:31:19] Speaker A: Don't think, just answer. [01:31:20] Speaker B: Yeah, don't think. [01:31:21] Speaker A: This is dangerous, Anthony. Yeah. [01:31:26] Speaker B: All right, so here we go. Who's your favorite football player of all time? Matt Reed. All right. Favorite food? [01:31:36] Speaker C: Chicken wings. [01:31:38] Speaker B: You went to school in Cleveland. Best restaurant in Northeast Ohio? [01:31:42] Speaker C: Mabel's Barbecue. Downtown Cleveland for sure. [01:31:45] Speaker B: Nice. Like Mabel's. We're going to go favorite sports franchises here. We're going to start with football. Favorite football franchise? [01:31:52] Speaker C: Tampa Bay Bucks. [01:31:54] Speaker B: Basketball. [01:31:56] Speaker C: La. [01:31:56] Speaker B: Lakers baseball. [01:32:00] Speaker C: Tampa Bay Rays. [01:32:01] Speaker B: You watch any? [01:32:04] Speaker C: Occasionally. You know, the lightning. [01:32:08] Speaker B: Okay. Favorite football memory at Baldwin Wallace. [01:32:13] Speaker C: And we were playing Marietta, and there was about four possession changes as far as the league goes. We ended up winning that game 33 29 back in 2022. They went down. We were up actually, I take that back. They were up 21 to 20. We went down, scored. We missed the two point conversion, which was it made the score of 26 to 21. They ended up actually it was less than a minute left. They actually came down and scored with a minute eight left on the clock, and they were up. And so it was raining, cold. We went down, actually went ahead and scored. Last seconds of the game. Shout out, Mikhail, love. He scored the game with a touchdown, but that was the most exciting game that I played on the winning end of the stick. [01:32:55] Speaker B: Nice. Favorite spot on Baldwin Wallace's. Campus. [01:33:02] Speaker C: Buzzies is one of the top spots. [01:33:05] Speaker B: Nice. Most you've ever benched at one time? Bench pressed at one time. [01:33:12] Speaker C: 365. [01:33:15] Speaker B: That's up there. I know you got 20 reps on the 225, so I knew you were strong. [01:33:21] Speaker C: Favorite movie right now? It's got to be Creed three. Just watched that not too long ago. [01:33:27] Speaker B: Favorite TV show? [01:33:29] Speaker C: I don't really watch a lot of TV shows. I really want to tap into snowfall, actually. It's been a lot of buz. [01:33:35] Speaker B: Okay. And then finally you kind of answered this earlier, but I'll give it to you anyways. Ohio or Florida? [01:33:41] Speaker C: Yeah, Sunshine State. [01:33:45] Speaker A: I always say, I don't know why we live here when we were in Florida. There's just no substitute for 300 days of sunshine a year. You just walk outside and it's just different. Helps your mood. [01:33:59] Speaker C: I do appreciate Ohio seasons, man. That's one thing about it. It's real special. Fall, winter. The winter is not so long, but it's cool. [01:34:08] Speaker B: Yeah, I hear you there. That's why I always say, if I could just have one week of winter and then we go back to normal. Fine. So a final question here. D three athlete to D three athlete. I played for Mount Union for two years. Obviously never came close to the level of success that you had. I didn't even start. [01:34:28] Speaker A: We weren't talking draft. [01:34:30] Speaker B: No, I was a backup. I was a free safety, and I was a backup. But you guys almost got them this year. They're notorious for not losing regular season games. You kind of talked about it a little bit just a minute ago at your senior night. Tell us a little bit more about that game. What were the emotions like, what happened? I know there was a Hail Mary at the end of the game, kind of what happened. And did that fuel you going into this draft season? [01:34:53] Speaker C: Yeah, so the game we went in the game prepared. We knew we were a second half team, and we knew our responsibilities on who we needed to stop and what kind of play that we needed to go against a purple team like that. [01:35:06] Speaker B: I like that you call them the purple team, too. [01:35:11] Speaker C: Yeah, that's just how we go by, man. BW but fourth quarter came at 170. We striking away back, made a lot of plays, shut down the offense, obviously, come the last seconds of the game, fluke plays like that happen all the time in football, man. Unfortunately, we were at the short of the stick of that game. But as far as fueling me, obviously it left a bitter taste in my mouth. But I knew that it wasn't the last time I was going to play football. And I kind of stuck by that and just really took a hold of I'm going to grind and be able to get back on this football field. Whether it be any type of league, NFL, CFL or whatever case may be. But that's kind of the mindset that I had at the end of the game. [01:35:55] Speaker B: Yeah, I can appreciate that. Like you said, it wasn't like they were the better team that day or anything like that. It was a fluke play. It's one of those ones that 50 50 ball, and unfortunately, it probably got batted around a few times and they came down with it. [01:36:14] Speaker A: What did you guys finish this year? Seven and three. That's still a really solid year. You guys started a little bit slow, right? You started one and two, but then you ripped off five or six in a row. So that had to feel good as you were kind of flying high there, no? [01:36:26] Speaker C: Yeah, it was definitely an amazing season. I'd say the most exciting one. The first season that I played, all ten games started and played. And so it was special to be a part of that. Coach Hilbert really changed the culture over at BW. Shout out to the team, man. Love him. Death. And always got a rep. Yeah. [01:36:42] Speaker A: Can I ask you sorry, a quick question about repping BW Yellow Jackets? Right. I always want to call them the Bees, but the Yellow Jackets is that a weird thing to shout in the huddle? One, two, three. Go. Yellow Jackets. [01:36:58] Speaker C: Yeah, man. We bring the buzz, man. BW grit. [01:37:03] Speaker B: Bring the buz is a lot easier to say than Go Yellow Jackets. [01:37:09] Speaker C: Jackets. It's funny, when I first got to the school, that was one of the funniest things, actually. [01:37:15] Speaker B: All right, so finally here as we close out, is there anything else that you would like to add or a final message that you have for the teams that are looking at you? [01:37:26] Speaker C: And don't miss out on opportunity to have a player who can develop and add a lot of value to your organization. Tate speaks for itself, and I'm willing to learn anything that I need to be to prepare for the NFL. [01:37:41] Speaker A: Absolutely. [01:37:42] Speaker B: Anthony Kendall. Thanks so much for joining us on the Burning River sportscast presented by Tapin Media. And we hope to be seeing you again very soon on Sundays. [01:37:52] Speaker A: Best of luck, sir. [01:37:53] Speaker C: Thank you for having me. [01:37:55] Speaker B: Well, that was fun. Local guy, good kid. I really hope someone picks him up. [01:37:59] Speaker A: Yeah, that'd be cool. It's always cool to see somebody get a chance from smaller universities. [01:38:05] Speaker B: Yeah, I mean, there was a couple of guys from Mount Union, your old budy Pierre, pierre Garcion, Cecil Shorts. They both got a chance in the NFL. And both of them actually had a few really good years. So that's always cool to see. [01:38:21] Speaker A: For sure. [01:38:22] Speaker B: But you know what's next? [01:38:23] Speaker A: What's next? [01:38:24] Speaker B: The Burning River sportscast hot take. [01:38:25] Speaker A: A hot take. Hotline? [01:38:27] Speaker B: This is the hot take hotline. Well, this isn't. [01:39:03] Speaker A: Ronnie? [01:39:03] Speaker B: Yeah, what's up? [01:39:04] Speaker A: I was just thinking, where can our friends find all our dope gear? [01:39:08] Speaker B: All our dope gear. [01:40:51] Speaker B: Part of the show, some would say, oh, when it's over, no facts for days. [01:40:58] Speaker A: It's not over yet, friends. [01:41:00] Speaker B: It's not over until the fat man gives the facts for days. [01:41:03] Speaker A: Wow, that was a low blow, fat man. Facts for days. Wow, this is evolving quickly. [01:41:11] Speaker B: What do you got for me, Kenny? [01:41:13] Speaker A: Do have some fat facts for days. Fat facts for days. Let's start off on a sobering note. Okay. Some sobering news as we remember that the Houston Oilers have won our division more recently than the Cleveland Browns. [01:41:32] Speaker B: I hate you. [01:41:33] Speaker A: Cleveland Browns. Last AFC Central title was in 1988. Houston last won in both 1991 and 93 before packing up and moving to Tennessee in 96 before becoming the Titans in 1999. [01:41:48] Speaker B: Thank you. [01:41:48] Speaker A: So, literally, a team that is no longer in our division has won a division more recently than we have. [01:41:53] Speaker B: A team that hasn't existed as long as we've been back. [01:41:59] Speaker A: That one feels bad, doesn't it? [01:42:01] Speaker B: That might be the most embarrassing fact you could have found about the Browns. Nah, take it back. There's probably more. What's next? [01:42:08] Speaker A: Number two. This is a fun one. [01:42:11] Speaker B: Who does number two work for? Sorry. Go, I digress. [01:42:19] Speaker A: So Ryan and I both have a golf background, so I thought we'd hit some golf facts here. Calvin Pete. [01:42:28] Speaker B: Love that guy. [01:42:28] Speaker A: Remember Calvin pete. Who doesn't pioneer for African Americans in the PGA winner of 14 Tour events, including the 1984 Players Championship, varden Trophy and Byron Nelson Award winner, passed away in 2015 at the age of 71. R-I-P. Calvin did not start playing golf until his 20s. He actually suffered, as you know, a badly broken arm as a child that was never properly attended to or set. So it healed, all wonky and broken. It kind of like was like the hyperextended arm. [01:43:01] Speaker B: It was pretty wiggity. [01:43:02] Speaker A: Pretty wiggity. And despite all this, he carved out a career in the PGA that he did. And he played over 1200 rounds of professional golf before his arm fell off. [01:43:19] Speaker B: No, that's not where you're going with this. [01:43:20] Speaker A: This is where the fat facts for days comes. Here. [01:43:22] Speaker B: Sorry, I jumped the gun. [01:43:23] Speaker A: It's coming right now. Okay, so, yeah, playing 1200 rounds with a goofed up arm, that's one thing. But in those 1200 rounds, calvin Pete only ever hit one ball. I'll say that again, one ball out of bounds. [01:43:45] Speaker B: I hit one ball out of bounds, like per hole. All right? I don't but I used to, so that's insane. That is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard ever. [01:43:56] Speaker A: He led the tour in driving accuracy for ten straight ten consecutive years. But the fact that he only ever lost one ball, OB has to be the most ridiculous sports stat of all time. [01:44:09] Speaker B: That is insane. You see some of the players, like, today, even your Rory McElroy's will hit the ball out of bounds, like, at least a couple of times a tournament. [01:44:19] Speaker A: Yeah, sometimes you do on purpose. They're just taking a chance. They're like, I could probably drive this one in one. [01:44:24] Speaker B: I'm trying to really get back into this thing, and I didn't win a lot of money this weekend. [01:44:28] Speaker A: 1200 rounds. [01:44:29] Speaker B: That's insane. [01:44:30] Speaker A: One OB wild Sealy plays one round. [01:44:33] Speaker B: And hits it 1200 times out of pounds. [01:44:38] Speaker A: That's messed up. Number three trace. Trace Leches. [01:44:47] Speaker B: Oh, nice. Spanish three milks. [01:44:53] Speaker A: Are you familiar with pirates? [01:44:56] Speaker B: As familiar as anybody, I guess. [01:45:00] Speaker A: Like, describe a pirate to me. Good start. [01:45:06] Speaker B: They're real scruffy looking. [01:45:08] Speaker A: Scruffy looking. What is a pirate? Like, what do they look like? What do they wear? [01:45:13] Speaker B: Like, old timey clothes. And then they got like, a peg leg, an eye patch. [01:45:16] Speaker A: An eye patch? Eye patch, right. Pirates. They got a parrot commonly associated with wearing eye patches. Why did so many pirates wear eye patches? [01:45:27] Speaker B: For aiming. [01:45:29] Speaker A: All right, good try. Because I lost their eyes. Because they lost their eyes. Another good try. Some of them probably did wear them over their lost eye because hooks and things. But when you think about that, pirates really didn't have a problem with being ugly or scary, right? I mean, they wore old timey clothes, big belt buckles. Were you a pirate? Maybe. I have so many seamen. [01:45:54] Speaker B: Orlando Kenny in the house. [01:45:57] Speaker A: Anyway, pirates, actually, because they didn't really care if they looked ugly. Little spillage there. [01:46:04] Speaker B: I think I'm good. [01:46:05] Speaker A: Nice job. They didn't have a problem being ugly, so it didn't make sense, really, for them to cover their ugly eye holes, because that was actually more intimidating and scary. Now, the conventional wisdom around why pirates wore eye patches was actually to maintain their dark adapted vision, not to hide an ugly eye, because the human eye can take as long as 25 minutes to adjust from daytime light to low light conditions. So in the event of a pirate attack and the fight shifts below deck, a pirate has a fierce advantage. Or if you were mutant need on board your own ship and ended up below decks fighting off mutineers you can see and they can't. [01:46:53] Speaker B: I find it hard to believe that pirates were that smart. [01:46:56] Speaker A: They spend a lot of time on the ocean. It's really light out with the glare. So, yeah, that's facts for days. Bad facts for days. So many pirates. Pirate eyes. Pirate. Pirate. Mass, I got a pirate joke for you. Okay. [01:47:10] Speaker B: What's a pirate's favorite letter? R you'd think? But it's the sea he'd be loving. [01:47:19] Speaker A: Very nice. Very nice. [01:47:23] Speaker B: What could I say? I'm a dad now. [01:47:26] Speaker A: I can tell you this. [01:47:27] Speaker B: I'm a dad now. [01:47:30] Speaker A: After hearing that joke, our friend Anthony Kendall is never coming back on the podcast again. [01:47:35] Speaker B: Oops. [01:47:36] Speaker A: But that's facts for days. So anyways, this was a good podcast. This was fun. Had an interview today. [01:47:44] Speaker B: Do we have any problems? [01:47:49] Speaker A: No. Now you're really throwing me off my game here. Basically, here's the thing. Don't just be a part of the problem. Be the whole damn problem. [01:48:00] Speaker B: And only you can prevent river fires. Burning river sportscast burning river sportscast burning river burning river sportscast app and media backslash op. Yeah, go get some gear. Burning river sportscast we're trying to sign out without telling people to not be a part of not be the whole problem. [01:48:15] Speaker A: No, I was getting there, but then you interrupted me and threw me off my swag. Burning river, burning river seals. Do it. Do it, do it. [01:48:27] Speaker B: No. Burning river, burning river burning river, burning river. [01:48:33] Speaker A: I'm actually not comfortable answering that. Come on. We're doing the interview now, not you. [01:48:38] Speaker B: It rubs the lotion on its skin or else it gets the hose again. [01:48:44] Speaker A: The leads are weak. [01:48:46] Speaker B: Leads are weak? [01:48:48] Speaker C: Fucking leads are weak. [01:48:50] Speaker A: You are weak. I've been in this business 15 years. [01:48:53] Speaker B: What's your name? Fuck you. That's my name. [01:48:56] Speaker A: You know why, Mr? Because you drove a Hyundai to get here tonight. I drove an $80,000 BMW. [01:49:03] Speaker C: That's my name. What do you mean, funny? [01:49:06] Speaker A: Funny? How am I funny? Who are you talking to right now? Who is it you think you see? Do you know how much I make a year? I mean, even if I told you, you wouldn't believe it. You clearly don't know who you're talking to, so let me clue you in. I am not in danger skyler. [01:49:24] Speaker B: I am the danger. A guy opens his door and gets. [01:49:27] Speaker A: Shot and you think out of me? No. I am the one who knocks. [01:49:54] Speaker B: Today's episode was brought to you by Rafflepress.
