There were some missed throws. He didn't push the ball down the field as he's become known for and the picks were ugly. But the fact is this. On Sunday, Cleveland was a ten point home dog and you were in that game until the final whistle against a team that no one would be surprised to see in the Super Bowl. And you were right there. And if you can think of any other explanation as to how or why, I'm all ears. Because I only see one. And it wasn't Kevin Stefanski and Tommy Reese drawing up plays we've never seen before. It wasn't the incredible depth and talent this team has amassed after years of superlative team building. And it certainly wasn't the result of of painstakingly careful planning and analytics driven decisions by ownership. There was one reason, and one reason alone that you had a legitimate opportunity to take down one of the NFL's best Shador Deion Sanders. And if you can't see the glimmering of something special there, I don't know what you're watching. And in a season of gut wrenching frustration and despair, he is the lone anagram of optimism. We'll break it all down for you next on the Burning River Sportscast. [00:02:28] Speaker A: Johnny Manziel is your idol. So tell us what happened here. [00:02:32] Speaker C: Dan is not the only one with a big sack this time that we're looking forward to this time of year. O Line Dog Water. [00:02:40] Speaker A: Of course Shador is not going to sit there and say, I don't know, somebody gave me the wrong wristband. [00:02:44] Speaker B: If Miles doesn't come up with a sack over the next two games, it's gonna feel real bad. [00:02:48] Speaker D: Oh yeah, Shadora Sexual I said you don't have to have a parachute to jump out of a plane. I said you don't have to be a Christian to go to church. You don't have to be a Browns fan to join the Brownsbackers but it helps. [00:03:02] Speaker A: My second matchup that matters. Shador Sanders versus Kevin Stefanski's game plan. [00:03:09] Speaker D: We're actually about two hours from Cincinnati, straight east of Cincinnati, but we really don't claim that as part of Ohio. [00:03:16] Speaker A: Kenny, how'd that feel? [00:03:17] Speaker B: Look, the first time your mom didn't take it up and we're stuck with you. Welcome in to the Burning river sportscast presented by the fine folks at tap in media. I'm Kenny Thunder. Joining me today, I'd call him a dime a dozen, but that would imply he has value. He's red hot. Ronnie jams. Damn. Hey, don't, don't let me forget to ask your mom this Christmas what position you were conceived in. I can't afford to have a kid as ugly as you. If we go for number two. [00:03:47] Speaker A: Thank you, God. We're 30 seconds in. I'm getting fucked. [00:03:57] Speaker B: And on the board today. He used to be indecisive, but now he's just not so sure. He's the big bone man. [00:04:05] Speaker A: Bone. [00:04:06] Speaker B: If the dove is the bird of peace, what would you consider the bird of love? [00:04:12] Speaker E: The hummingbird. [00:04:13] Speaker B: How about a swallow? Gotti Back to red hot. Where can our listeners find the dopest dope they ever heard on a podcast. Hot takes from the hot take hotline the Browns brief more messages from macho Phantom, brownstronaut division roundup and king of the north with John Hughes. An interview with another Brownsbackers chapter. Today we've got the Jackson County Brownsback and of course the Week 17 preview for the game against the Steelers. And so towards the day after Christmas and all through the house everyone was listening to Burning River Sportscast break this thing down. Christmas had come to each and every town and gave us a break from our beloved Cleveland Browns. Santa had come with his red suit and all and delivered his gifts to all big and small. Family and friends gathered the snow, how it swirled. But now it's time to bring you back to the real world. The Browns still suck and they are impossible to watch. Even our snaps consistently get botched. Bubba's still here and his teams are so special they can't even figure out basic fundamentals. We have no depth in our line is non existent, but at least their poor play has been very consistent with not much to count on. That really means a ton, but it also means that there aren't many games being won. This is getting good guys and as we look forward to next year with hope, there's still a chance that will be stuck with a mope. Kevin Stefanski still coaching and that has us nervous. His presence here is nothing short of a disservice. His offense is trash. His schemes are all stale. Look, another reverse that absolutely failed. But we know, we know how it starts with him and he's got to do better and we will get it fixed. But when? Probably never. There's no accountability. It's the wild wild west and with him at the helm will never be best. And if there's one thing I've learned as a Browns fan all these years, the owner's insane and doesn't care about our tears. Jimmy, for once, do what's right. Let's build a contender. We're right on schedule. If you just return Kevin to sender, his time is up. Our time is now. This team needs an attitude adjustment and a new coach to wow, a fresh set of eyes and an offense that works and uses its athletes. God given perks. Who am I getting? It's just a matter of time to the Browns fuck it up and waste all the great players primes. Joel Zell, Joe Thomas, Josh Cribbs. Every great that's wasted is a punch in the ribs. If there's one thing we know as Browns fans, it's pain. And we'll be back here to root for our team all the same. Despite the criticism and jeering, we know the Browns we still love even though they always blow. And here's the 26 and some positive vibes. And if you haven't, then please go ahead and subscribe. Merry Christmas Happy holidays. From our show to you, to the Browns, till the end, will always stay true. And with that, let's go ahead and start things off with the Burning River News. Story of the week. Anyways, bring up our new story of the week this week. Johnny Manziel. No call, no showed. College game day this week. [00:08:19] Speaker B: I. I would be surprised, but I guess I'm not sure. [00:08:23] Speaker E: Is that, like, just on local channels or. [00:08:25] Speaker A: College, College. Like the college. [00:08:30] Speaker D: I was. [00:08:30] Speaker B: Joker's bone already asleep. Yeah. [00:08:33] Speaker A: He's like, I didn't drink. He really got us because we were both shook. I didn't know what to say. Listen, Johnny Manziel is your idol. So tell us what happened here. [00:08:46] Speaker B: I would say he's my idol. [00:08:48] Speaker A: You literally live your life hoping to be him. [00:08:51] Speaker B: No, I said if there was someone I could trade my life with, he would be the guy. [00:08:55] Speaker A: What would you call him other than your idol? [00:08:58] Speaker B: Because he does whatever he wants. But as somebody who does, who is endeared to Johnny Manziel, it is getting harder and harder to defend this cat. Like, he is just a garbage human being. [00:09:13] Speaker A: I think the best part about this is so, so backstory here. Johnny Menzel didn't make his scheduled game. He was the guest picker for the Texas A and M game in the. [00:09:23] Speaker B: Playoffs, which, like, in the sporting world, like, is a pretty good. It's like a pretty big accolade. Like, they only bring on, like, big celebrities, big names, and there's only so. [00:09:30] Speaker A: Many games that they do this for every. So he was the guest picker and he was out the night before at the Jake Paul, which probably talk more about that at some point because it's big news, big watch party. Jake Paul. What was the dude's name? The Jake Paul? I don't care. The Jake Paul fight. He was. He was out. He went to the fight, didn't he? Or did he go to a watch party? [00:09:53] Speaker B: I don't. I thought it was that he was at the fight, but he might have just been at a watch party either. [00:09:56] Speaker A: Either way, he was partying all night. Multiple pictures on social media of the alcohol he was consuming and other things he was doing. And then no call, no show in the morning for college game day later on that after in the day. I think it was actually Monday that he came out and posted a bunch of screenshots of people sending him messages like, you're a piece of shit. Blah, blah. You know, you don't represent Texas A and M. Stay away from us. Disassociate with us. All this other stuff, he. All these screenshots of people just being absolute to him, which is warranted, in my opinion. He basically said, oh, you don't know what happened. I'm feeling about a 3 out of 10, but thank you to everybody who supports me, blah, blah, blah. Some wild speculation going around. I'm not going to address it, but thanks again for all my spoilers. So. So the narrative, it was, it was basically like on social media. The response was, so I'm not going to dispel the narrative because the narrative is basically the truth. [00:10:55] Speaker B: Let me actually just read you the actual quote, because it wasn't even well put together. There is almost nothing on this earth that have made me miss that game. I will continue to let everyone out there run with a fake narrative. And at the end of the day, perception always wins over reality. That's, that's, that's his defense, essentially, of why he wouldn't show up to a big. [00:11:16] Speaker A: What does that even mean? Like, yeah, perception wins over reality, and the perception is that you're an absolute piece of trash. [00:11:24] Speaker B: Yeah, I mean, look, it's always been funny, you know, with, with Manzel and just the, you know, the, the drug stuff, making money, antennas out of his phone, like, whatever. [00:11:35] Speaker A: Too much money in my ear. [00:11:37] Speaker B: And certainly I think there's probably some level of. Of gravity with, you know, whatever addiction he has and substance abuse issues. But it gets harder and harder to defend because it's hard to defend your lack of awareness and respect for just other people's time. That's one of those basic fundamental tenants, like, core tenets of just being a decent human. All jokes aside, that's just super shitty to do. I mean, even if you are, like, screwed up, you could text, text, text Kirk, like, let him know, hey, it's three in the morning, buddy. I'm still out partying. I'm not going to be there in the morning. [00:12:14] Speaker A: Like, at least wakes up to get everything ready in the morning. You're like, okay, we got to go to plan B. Like, luckily they had whoever it was on deck as, like, the backup. [00:12:24] Speaker B: But, like, now maybe. Shame on espn, because maybe you should just know it's Johnny Manzel that you're dealing with. And you should probably just come prepared with plan B because there's a good chance he's coked out. [00:12:35] Speaker A: But honestly, plan B should probably just be your planet. [00:12:39] Speaker B: Johnny will be here if he shows up. Like, that's. [00:12:42] Speaker A: Maybe he's plan B because most likely he's not going to be here. Yeah, but I Just thought it was wild, especially after, like, earlier this year. I know it was kind of fun because he did an interview on his podcast with Joe Thomas, and Joe Thomas basically ripped him to shreds. He was like, yeah, I mean, like, most of this was your fault, kid. Like, well. [00:13:03] Speaker B: And that's what's frustrating about Johnny today, is that you kind of feel like from the things that he has been saying, like, he's kind of realized he misstepped a lot in his life, and he took for granted a lot of the opportunity that he had, and, like, he's been speaking to those things. Like, he has matured to an extent. But then you go and do this again, and so you do this, kind of start back over. [00:13:21] Speaker A: And to be fair, he also talks out of both sides of his mouth because he does. It seems like he's making strides at points. But then earlier this year, his quote was. I'm paraphrasing. But it was also something like, yeah, I mean, at this point, I don't like Cleveland, so fuck them. [00:13:34] Speaker B: Well, that's the other thing it's harder and harder to defend as a Browns fan is like. [00:13:40] Speaker A: I hope they lose every game. I think that was part of that quote. [00:13:42] Speaker B: He takes it so personal that he reflects his bad experience here onto the whole city. Is that he. Because there is fair criticism to be aimed at the people that were coaching him at the time to be able to say things like, hey, Kyle Shanahan didn't like me. Mike Petton didn't like me. Like, I didn't get a fair shake here, and that's shitty, and that's totally all fair game. But he just talks about Cleveland. Cleveland, big C. Like, oh, Cleveland sucks. [00:14:05] Speaker D: Which. [00:14:06] Speaker B: Which makes it hard as a Browns fan to continue to. To kind of pull for this guy to get his life together and do. [00:14:11] Speaker A: Something he truly does. He takes it to the next level because he talks about how the city sucks and the. And, like, there's nothing here and whatever. Yeah. So no love lost for Johnny Manzel. It just was a very Johnny Manziel moment. And I was. I. I wanted to talk about it because he's just. [00:14:25] Speaker B: Well, it's like. When I saw the initial report, I was just like this. It just didn't even surprise me at this point anymore because it's. [00:14:31] Speaker A: But it was news, so I wanted to bring it up. [00:14:33] Speaker B: Manzel being Manzel. [00:14:34] Speaker A: Yep. One more thing before we get to the Browns. Let me remind everybody to call the burgers. Sportscats out. They got a hot take hotline. Don't forget to call. Leave your hot takes on the hot take hotline. We want hot takes. You got some hot takes? [00:14:44] Speaker B: We want the hot takes. Give us all those hot takes. We got a couple. [00:14:47] Speaker A: Do we get 2, 3, 4, 7? [00:14:49] Speaker B: 12 people are pretty well checked out on this team this year, but that's fair play. [00:14:53] Speaker A: What we got, we probably got our boys. [00:14:55] Speaker C: Hey, guys, it's Menachem from the Browns backers of North Jersey. Last week, there was a little technical difficulties. [00:15:04] Speaker A: You. [00:15:04] Speaker C: You guys blamed it on me and bought an angry body phone. I think my hot take is that it's the answering machine that I'm calling that issues issue. Not me, not Bobby. All right, that's my hot take. All seriousness. Sort of seriousness. [00:15:24] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:15:24] Speaker C: So my. My call actually got cut off my drop. [00:15:27] Speaker B: Basically it was. [00:15:28] Speaker C: It was just a formal apology for. For making fun of Bobby 2 weeks ago in which I basically told people that they should call the hotline, which I still agree that they should call the hotline. And I kind of like, you know, said how Bobby's bad at the calls, which he really isn't. I mean, sometimes he is, but he really isn't bad at the calls. Like, he was the one. He was one of the first people on the hot take hotline saying that Shador Sanders has improved each game and he has pretty much played better and there's more consistency in many aspects of his game. Does he still need to improve? [00:16:04] Speaker B: Of course. He's a rookie. [00:16:06] Speaker C: He's a quarterback. No quarterback is perfect. No, no rookie is perfect. [00:16:10] Speaker D: But. [00:16:11] Speaker A: So. [00:16:11] Speaker D: So that. [00:16:12] Speaker C: That was. It was more in a jocular way of pointing out that I was apologizing to the lobby and the first part got cut off. It wasn't actually that. [00:16:22] Speaker B: That much. [00:16:22] Speaker C: It was more just like, I like to read this formal apology and, you know, and then it went to the part that actually got said. I mean, another loss. What are we gonna say? You know, it's. It's ridiculous things. [00:16:36] Speaker A: And. [00:16:37] Speaker C: And. But the game was. Was closer than. Game was closer than, you know, it probably would have been. I mean, most people probably thought that the. I mean, the line was pretty high for the Bills and we kept it close. The defense had moments of goodness. I wouldn't say they played well, but that moment. And really, the truth is, you need that your offense is consistently good and your defense has the moments of like, you know, maybe bend but don't break kind of thing, as opposed to the other way. Where your defense is. Is what we saw earlier in the season from the defense with the offense having the occasional good play. So, I mean, that's. That's definitely going to have to be a focus in the off season and just, you know, that's, that's that I want to wish you guys a Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah to those who celebrate, whatever. And, you know, let's have some. Let's have some fun. Two games left. Let's hope models get to gets the big sack. Stan is not the only one with a big sack this time that we're looking forward to this time of year. And yeah, that's it. Thank you guys for the, for having the hotline. And he out talked the. [00:17:57] Speaker A: I have no idea how you could possibly get cut off by the answering machine. No idea whatsoever how that could happen. I think. [00:18:07] Speaker B: I wonder what Menachem does for a living. [00:18:10] Speaker A: I wonder a lot of things about. [00:18:11] Speaker B: Menachem because he dropped a jocular in there and he does that from time to time. When you listen to his calls, we almost need an anthology of monogamous calls because if you listen, his vocabulary is pretty exquisite. So I don't know if he's a college professor or a teacher. [00:18:29] Speaker A: He actually reminds me a lot of us. If you listen long enough, you're like, oh, these guys do know some words. [00:18:34] Speaker B: Sneaky. Ella. These guys know some words. [00:18:36] Speaker A: Words. [00:18:37] Speaker B: Sneaky, eloquent. [00:18:38] Speaker E: I think we need to have Menockum and Angry Bobby on at the same time. [00:18:42] Speaker B: We might. [00:18:43] Speaker A: It might turn into a figure this. [00:18:44] Speaker B: Hear the rift once and for all. [00:18:46] Speaker A: Yeah, I don't know what this, like, formal apology is and stuff like, this is the Burning River Sportscast. We don't issue apologies, even though we actually have one in our show tonight. But, like, I don't really know what that is. We need to fix that. [00:18:57] Speaker B: I just love how he waffled on. [00:18:59] Speaker A: I think we just need to set up a celebrity boxing match between Menachem and Angry Bobby. [00:19:04] Speaker B: Says I wanted to apologize to Angry Bobby for calling him out that he sucks. He doesn't always suck. Sometimes he sucks. [00:19:12] Speaker A: And then he's like, the game lost. Like, it was like the. The Browns are now an afterthought. It's just this. This thing going on between Bobby and man, that is therapy. [00:19:24] Speaker B: I think what actually happened because that he. That he felt compelled. That was the question. [00:19:31] Speaker A: I like how he was clarifying this week and he's like, no, here's what happened. I got cut off. Like, no, I want to know why there was a formal apology in the first place. [00:19:40] Speaker B: Was Kevin sending threatening text messages? Like Stop talking about my dad. [00:19:46] Speaker A: Kevin was probably like, my dad will beat up your dad. I don't know. But I don't know. Manakum, thanks for the call. [00:19:54] Speaker B: He also shit all over the hot take, you guys. He tells everybody to call in one breath. Everybody should call the hot take hotline. And then he says, your answering service sucks. [00:20:04] Speaker A: To be fair, I don't think anybody else has ever had a problem with it. [00:20:07] Speaker B: But then he. Yeah, it was just North Jersey that one day. [00:20:11] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:20:12] Speaker B: But then he brought it all back in a very gracious way and thanked us. And we always appreciate Menachem giving us a call. [00:20:18] Speaker A: Happy holidays, bro. [00:20:19] Speaker B: Menachem has added certainly a layer of entertainment to the hot take hotline this year, so I'm very thankful for him this year. And talk about Miles sacks, Santa's sacks. Everybody's got big sacks. Big sacks. So love that. Happy Hanukkah. Happy Merry Christmas to you and yours as well. Yeah, and I may have misspoke. I think we actually do have three hot take hot lines. [00:20:39] Speaker A: All right, well, we better get to. [00:20:40] Speaker B: The next one because let's. Let's go with the next one. [00:20:43] Speaker C: What the. Absolute. [00:20:47] Speaker A: Not mad. [00:20:47] Speaker B: I'm disappointed, gents. [00:20:49] Speaker C: We were actually in that game. [00:20:50] Speaker B: I'd say the whole time. [00:20:52] Speaker C: Doris Sanders, he had decent play. O line Dog water, prayers to quit. Sean Judkins, man, we can only go up from here. Enjoy your week and have a happy holidays. I stayed for the whole game, by the way. Good night, Burning River. [00:21:12] Speaker A: Gotta love that. You gotta include that when you're. When you're. Kevin, I stayed for the whole game, so. Well, of course you did, because it was a game. [00:21:19] Speaker B: It was actually a game. Yeah. They had a shot at it. [00:21:22] Speaker A: Yeah. I don't know. I like how he's not. He's not angry. He's just disappointed. Like, honestly, like, this is the game. You shouldn't be disappointed. They actually played better than anybody really expected them to play. So. [00:21:36] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:21:36] Speaker A: Not that it's fun to watch them lose. It always sucks watching them lose. But they were in the game. I was actually watching at the end and interested. [00:21:43] Speaker B: Yeah, I said the same thing on Sunday night during the live show, which is that this was. This was a small reason for optimism. Right. There was some resilience there, some adversity that they faced and kept plugging away. And how many games this year did. Did we look back and say, like, you had a shot basically up until the end? [00:22:01] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:22:01] Speaker B: And they did against a good football team. So this was, I thought, a very Encouraging. One of the most encouraging performances of the whole year. And there's no more moral victories in this sport. There's no good losses. But. But if there was such a thing, this would be included in that category. [00:22:16] Speaker A: Yeah, you are right. Offensive line, dog water. Yeah, dog water for sure. Shador Sanders played fairly well and luckily your prayers helped Kevin because Quinshon Judkins, we'll get to that here soon too. But we got some good news on Quinshon Judkins, so. [00:22:33] Speaker B: Oh, it's good news. [00:22:34] Speaker A: But it was. It's honestly like. It's like best case scenario still has broken bones. It's best case scenario because the recovery is gonna be much shorter. [00:22:43] Speaker B: Yeah, I guess so. Moral victory. And do we just need to rename the hot take hotline the North Jersey Hotline? Like do we just. These are the guys. [00:22:54] Speaker A: You know, if somebody else would call it. [00:22:57] Speaker B: We got one more here. [00:22:58] Speaker A: What do we got? What do we got? [00:23:00] Speaker C: Good morning, gentlemen, It's Bobby from North Jersey. Brownsbackers of North Jersey calling from my home today. I know we had a little phone issues last week, so I figured I won't call for my car this time. I'll call from my house. I don't know what else to say. Pretty good game. It was an entertaining game. We had a pretty decent crowd at the brownsbackers North Jersey. It was our member thank you party. So we had a pretty good crowd. [00:23:29] Speaker A: Game was exciting. I thought. [00:23:34] Speaker C: The door played well, obviously, other than those two interceptions. [00:23:39] Speaker D: But. [00:23:41] Speaker C: Get off of hands, you know, it could happen. But that was pretty much a difference in the game. Those turnovers, you look at the stats and we pretty much won every stat. The time, possession, total yards, passing yards. We were about the same rushing yards and again our run defense didn't show up. [00:24:02] Speaker B: So I don't know what the deal. [00:24:03] Speaker C: Is with that, but things are promising now. Again, good rookie class. So I'm actually looking forward to next year and I guess it's pretty much been confirmed that the Browns will be coming to MetLife twice next year. It is now confirmed. So look forward to the end of the season, two more games. Let's see what we can do, get ready for the draft and see if we can. We're picking a new coach. [00:24:33] Speaker D: That's it. [00:24:33] Speaker C: That's all I got. Merry Christmas and talk to you next week. [00:24:39] Speaker A: See ya. Did we say Merry Christmas and happy holidays? Kevin. We will now to. [00:24:44] Speaker B: Kevin. [00:24:44] Speaker D: No. [00:24:44] Speaker B: No. Fuck. [00:24:45] Speaker A: Kevin. Sorry. Kevin. Kevin. [00:24:50] Speaker B: Kevin. If you stay till the end of the show, we'll miss you. We'll wish you a merry Christmas. [00:24:53] Speaker A: I'm sorry. We probably take too much aggression out on you because you have the same name as Stefanski, so. Which is never a good thing for Angry Bobby. First of all, I want to say I don't like that you call Mondays now Angry Bobby, because we don't get Angry Bobby. We get subdued Bobby. So, Okay. [00:25:09] Speaker B: I think it gives Bobby time to clear his throat and make cogent thoughts. [00:25:12] Speaker A: I don't like it. I like when he's just, like, hot off the press, just, like, drunk in the car. [00:25:17] Speaker B: Everybody. Everybody's shouting, what happened today, boys? I don't fucking know. [00:25:22] Speaker A: That's what I like. Just no thought process whatsoever. Just all emotion. [00:25:28] Speaker B: Better connection. This week, calling from home was a great idea. [00:25:30] Speaker A: Yeah. Landlines. Yeah. They still exist. [00:25:34] Speaker B: Yeah, they're working well out in North Jersey. [00:25:37] Speaker A: It's the only place that still has them. [00:25:39] Speaker B: Yeah. Now we're shitting on North Jersey again. Here we go. [00:25:45] Speaker A: But Merry Christmas to you, too. [00:25:47] Speaker B: Yeah, Merry Christmas, Bobby. We always appreciate your calls. Look forward to meeting every week. Yeah, I mean, I think he. Astute observations. The run defense wasn't good. Shador played okay. The turnover sucked. [00:25:59] Speaker A: He actually pointed out something that I was like. I didn't even realize we were doing the recap yesterday is that our rushing yards were almost identical to theirs. Like, because. Because you watch the game and you think, like, they destroyed us on the ground, but then you. When you realize we only had 4 yards less rushing than they did. [00:26:14] Speaker B: They were. But keep also in mind, the Shador account for almost, I think, 49 of those. So out of 111 over 100 yards, 49 by your quarterback isn't a very good indication of what your running backs were able to accomplish on the ground. [00:26:25] Speaker A: True. I was just. The stat in general was just a little jarring to me. But yeah, good points. So I don't know. I guess like you said, I guess that's what Bobby's good for on Mondays is. Is he gets. He gets his head around it. He's like, I get to actually very. [00:26:41] Speaker B: Very reasonable analysis, which we appreciate. We still need to figure out whatever is going on. I. I think bones on to something here. I think we need to have Menachem and Angry Bobby on at the same time. We need to kind of sort this thing out and figure out. [00:26:52] Speaker A: Is that my homework? What do the interviews here? I schedule the interviews. [00:26:55] Speaker B: That's what we should do next week for the Browns backers interview. Heading into the final week of the. [00:26:59] Speaker A: Season, if anybody's still listening. That isn't part of the North Jersey Brownsbackers. Let me remind you to call the North Jersey Brownsbackers Hot Take hotline. [00:27:07] Speaker B: Hotline. [00:27:08] Speaker A: I mean, the. The. The burning of a sportscast hot take hotline. Don't forget to call and leave your hot takes on the hot take hotline again. [00:27:14] Speaker B: Maybe I should register an area code prefix that's in North Jersey next year so they can make local calls. [00:27:19] Speaker A: Yep. These are hot takes. [00:27:21] Speaker B: We. We want hot freaking takes. 3302-2780-8133-0227-808-1330-222780-81330, 222-78-1330, 081 call now. We'll kick you in. Haslam. [00:27:34] Speaker A: Right in the jimmies. And speaking of hot takes, it's time for Dig it with the. [00:27:47] Speaker D: Yeah. It's Pittsburgh week. Yeah. You know what that means. The men, we're gonna bring it more than ever. That's right, Steelers. Oh, yeah. You don't think you're coming in and just thinking that this is an easy victory? You won't even hear the word victory unless it's on our side. That's right. And I can tell you this much. One thing has been on our minds. And it doesn't matter how long the season has been ups and downs and rounds, but it's all come down to you. And we're gonna make our final home. [00:28:22] Speaker B: Stand, our final one. [00:28:25] Speaker D: One to remember. Cause we're gonna get that record. We're gonna beat you down on the ground. And you Yenzers are gonna remember why. The Cleveland Browns has a bright future ahead of them while you. Then we'll become the cellar dwellers. Yeah. [00:28:44] Speaker A: Let's go, Browns. [00:28:47] Speaker D: Dig it. Let's beat the Steelers. [00:28:51] Speaker A: Yeah. Macho. Macho fan. [00:29:01] Speaker B: I wanna be a macho fan. [00:29:04] Speaker A: Dig it, nigga. He's so macho. He's such a dog. He's again, one of the few people that's still excited for the Brats. And I love it. I'm glad he's part of our show. [00:29:17] Speaker B: Would be worse if he was a part of another show. [00:29:19] Speaker A: But. Yeah, speaking of. Speaking of dogs, let's talk about another dog. I'm talking about the burning of her sportscast. Dogaloo. [00:29:28] Speaker D: You gotta play tough people in the National Football League. [00:29:31] Speaker B: You gotta be ready. And we gotta be the dogs that we are every time we step on. [00:29:35] Speaker D: There on Sunday and be ready to attack. And don't stop until we're in that locker room. [00:29:42] Speaker A: All right? So we leave it up to our Listeners and followers to determine the Burninger Sportscast dog of the week each week on our live shows. On Sunday night we each nominated dog of the week candidate. From there we turn it over to all of you on our socials to vote and make the final decision. This week's nominees. [00:29:56] Speaker B: Kenny, I like that you explain this segment every week as if people outside of North Jersey are listening to the show for the first time. [00:30:04] Speaker A: I like all of our self deprecating humor on the show like we just like shit on ourselves. Nonst. [00:30:09] Speaker B: Shador Sanders. [00:30:10] Speaker A: Shador Sanders was yours bone. [00:30:12] Speaker E: Harold Fannin, can I qualify Junior junior. [00:30:18] Speaker B: Can I qualify my this real quick because I don't think he got a lot of votes but just real quick go ahead. He was not only a leading passer which is to be expected, he's a quarter. He was a leading rusher as well. So I know he threw two picks. It wasn't a great box score but the point of me nominating him was he was the entire offense essentially fair. [00:30:34] Speaker A: I mean I understood it and my nominee was Carson Schwezinger so. So after the fan vote that was conducted today on our socials, this week's Burning River Sportscast dog of the week is Harold Fanning Jr. Harold Fanning. [00:30:50] Speaker B: Harold Fanning, Dakota's brother. [00:30:52] Speaker A: Yeah. Family resemblance I see. Uncanny sometimes I don't know if that. [00:31:00] Speaker B: Is Dakota Fanning or if it's Harold Fanning. [00:31:03] Speaker A: Is that her? Listen, Harold Fannin Jr. Had four catches for 34 yards and a touchdown and then one rush for one yard and touchdown. [00:31:12] Speaker B: So yeah, another box score is not going to jump off the pages. But he did score touchdowns. [00:31:17] Speaker A: So so good. Good week for him. He's had a lot of good weeks. Let's be honest. [00:31:21] Speaker B: He. [00:31:22] Speaker A: I think he finally like actually did break the rookie reception record and this one rookie yards record too I believe so Just a awesome rookie year from him. He's been killing it all year long and this is one of the things like you know we talk about. Not that any of huge Andrew Barry fans. He's had a lot of misses throughout his time here but we'll you know that's fair. He has three good rookies from this, this last draft class. I guess if you want to get Quinn, Shawn Carson, Harold Fannin Jr. And if you count this, I'm sorry that was a bad miss. I almost said to Sean Watson if you count that that was not a good thing. [00:31:59] Speaker B: Did you fix the board? [00:32:00] Speaker A: Now it's already at zero. I just assume it's coming up Today, if you count Shador Sanders, four potentially good rookies. But then he had Dylan Gabriel as the worst ever. But. [00:32:10] Speaker B: But, yeah, that guy's not good either way. [00:32:13] Speaker A: My point that I'm making here is, you know, a solid, solid rookie campaign from him. There's other good rookies that we have. [00:32:20] Speaker B: Is the point that you're defending Andrew Barry now? [00:32:22] Speaker A: No, it's that we have some solid rookie pieces to build around as we move forward. [00:32:26] Speaker B: He has struggled picking pass catchers. [00:32:30] Speaker A: Yes. [00:32:31] Speaker B: Now, he's not a wide receiver, but. But he's been. He's been a good, solid addition. So credit where credit's due. You got one good pick out of six, Andrew Barry. [00:32:42] Speaker E: You did it. [00:32:43] Speaker B: You did it. [00:32:44] Speaker A: You did it, buddy. All right, so which again, I say. [00:32:47] Speaker B: If you punch me in the face every day that I've ever seen you and you don't punch me in the face once, that doesn't make us friends. [00:32:52] Speaker A: But I'll also say this. If keeping Shador and building around him next year means we have to have Andrew Barry as our gm, I'm probably for it. [00:33:01] Speaker B: I agree with you. Kevin is enough of a fall guy and enough of a pound of flesh if they can get rid of Kevin and keep Andrew Barry for at least another year. Because I want to see more of Shador. It's a selfish take, totally for me, because I just want to see one year of Shador Sanders with a full offseason under his belt and building around him with a team and an organization that believes that he has some potential. And I just. I think it's well documented at this point whether or not Kevin is intentionally sabotaging him. I don't think Kevin liked him a lot coming out of the draft. [00:33:35] Speaker A: Draft, no. [00:33:36] Speaker B: Clearly didn't have a lot of interest. [00:33:37] Speaker A: In playing our theory out there. Yeah. [00:33:40] Speaker B: Yeah. So it just. If they're going to move forward with Shador in any capacity, Kevin can't be here. [00:33:45] Speaker A: Right. So with that, let's go ahead and get into the Browns brief. All right, so earlier in the show, I said, we don't issue apologies on this show. And with that, I'd like to formally issue an apology to Devin Bush this week. Devin Bush was found not guilty of assault and harassment this week. At the time of the allegations, we made a lot of jokes about the character of players the Browns go after and kind of lumped him in with. With Desean Watts and Mike Hall Jr. Et cetera, et cetera, because there's a number of guys on our team that have character Issues. [00:34:30] Speaker B: We did qualify, as we often do there. [00:34:31] Speaker D: The. [00:34:32] Speaker B: The. The charges were. It was alleged at the time, but. But we did, to your point, kind of lump him in with, hey, it's a bad look for the Browns organization to continue to have players that are involved in negative extracurriculars. [00:34:43] Speaker A: Right? Yeah, I, Again, yeah, I agree with you. I don't think we ever said he was guilty of anything. We just. We just kind of said this is not the kind of guy you want to go after right now. [00:34:53] Speaker B: And it is a bad look. I mean, anytime a professional franchise has guys that are involved in legal disputes, I mean, it's not. It's a distraction. [00:35:00] Speaker D: Right. [00:35:00] Speaker A: But at the same time, we're apologizing to Devin Bush because he has now been cleared of all wrongdoing. And so we just want to say, you know, we're sorry for making those jokes and glad that your reputation and good name have been restored. [00:35:12] Speaker B: So, yeah, it seems fair that if. If you're gonna get lumped in with those things at the moment that you are found not guilty, essentially exonerated of any wrongdoing that. [00:35:20] Speaker A: That. We also walk back our comments. [00:35:22] Speaker B: There should be some redemption in that. That, hey, look like, you know, whatever happened, some kind of misunderstanding was. It wasn't anything criminal in nature. Right. [00:35:31] Speaker A: And so good. Good for. For Devin Bush. I know even besides us, he's taken a lot of flack all season long since the allegations came out. And he's kind of just. I mean, just the simple thing that, you know, the. The go to for every keyboard warrior out there is, oh, the woman beater over there. Like, no, that's. He's been exonerated. [00:35:50] Speaker B: Patently false at this point. And. And we did talk about this a little bit yesterday on the live show, but just to say it again, Devin Bush has had a really nice year here. Over 100 tackles. He's been a guy that, you know, when consistently when you think about a bad football team, you think about, you know, lack of effort in different places. He's been a guy that has put his head down since whatever this incident was, has put his head down and worked hard and been a very critical piece of this Browns defense all year long. [00:36:15] Speaker A: Yep. So, yeah, once again, sorry, Devin Bush, and we're glad that this chapter of your life and these kind of off the field issues, no fault of your own, are past you. So next up, Quinch on Judkins has been scheduled for surgery to repair the fractured fibula and dislocated ankle. [00:36:35] Speaker B: This must be the good News you were thinking about. [00:36:38] Speaker A: Well, here it is. No damage to any knee or ankle ligaments which is the best case scenario for an injury of this type that you could possibly hope for. The fact that it just breaks is still a big deal. Broken bones, never good. But the fact that it breaks, those tend to, they're pretty modern medicine is pretty incredible. Bone breaks aren't as crazy as that sounds to say it's not that big of a deal anymore. And the fact that they can reset those things and get them into place as long as they're not ligament tears and those types of things. No structural damage. I know you'll say bones of structure but no structural damage. As far as the ligaments go and tendons go like that, that means a shorter recovery time. He's probably going to come back a lot closer to what he was before than he would have if he would have had ligament damage and damage. So all good news as far as the injury actually goes. [00:37:32] Speaker B: So it certainly, if nothing else curtails the amount of time that he's going to need to spend in true recovery. [00:37:39] Speaker A: Right. [00:37:40] Speaker B: And gets him back to you know, be able to football physical conditioning and things sooner. [00:37:45] Speaker A: Like if this, if this happened at the beginning of the season, he'd be back mid season like he would have been. [00:37:49] Speaker B: Yeah, I mean I think there's, I think there's a lot of hope and optimism that he'll be back day one for Brown season next year. Right now possible. There's, there's always setbacks and things that can't happen. So you know, hopefully everything continues to go really well and he has a speedy recovery and is, you know, none the worse off after this whole thing, a devastating loss just because he's a guy that's, that's become kind of a fan favorite, has had, you know, we talked about the struggles that the running game has faced. He's had a very productive rookie season but you know it would, it sucks because in two or three games to finish the year he very possibly could have got to that thousand yard marker. [00:38:25] Speaker A: Which is, I'm glad you brought this up. [00:38:27] Speaker B: The benchmark for all running backs that everybody kind of looks at and especially when you're, you're five and ten years into your career, those numbers start to matter as they add up and they start to go, okay, guys had four or five or six, seven consecutive thousand yard seasons. Like those are all things that matter legacy wise for a running back. Not the end of the world for a rookie not to hit a thousand yards but would have Been one of those things that you kind of carry with you as one of those positives for this very, very bad Brown season. [00:38:52] Speaker A: Yeah. And again, I'm glad you brought that up because my next point was going to be I blame you for this injury because last week you said, I don't know. I think, I don't. I don't know if Quin Sean Judkins is going to get a thousand yards this year. And so you son of a. You set this up to be fair. [00:39:08] Speaker B: You basically made it an afterthought. It was a for sure thing that he was going to hit a thousand years this year. And I've been saying all year long, I don't, I'm not encouraged by the existence. I certainly didn't hope that Quinch. [00:39:19] Speaker A: I'm just saying, I kept saying it and something happened. [00:39:23] Speaker B: As much as I've been critical of Quin Sean this year, I agree that a lot of that is due to the offensive line issues. Right. [00:39:29] Speaker A: I blame you. [00:39:29] Speaker B: We've talked at length about the fact that he has some of the highest yards after contact totals in the NFL. I am a fan of Quinn John. I want him to do well. I want him to be a Brown for a long time and be successful. I just had doubts that he was. I had doubts that he was going to hit 1000 this year and I have doubts at a lower level about like his long term effectiveness. And if this has got. It's hard because we've gone from Nick Chubb now to anyone else. I think those are big shoes to fill our expectation and our. What we've become accustomed to is a guy that breaks big runs and is a playmaker and can run for 12 to 1400 yards a season. And that's just the baseline. So I don't know that he is going to ever get to that. [00:40:10] Speaker A: Going from Nick Chubb to anybody else is a fair point, but this sounds like a lot of words coming from a guy that's trying to distract from the fact that he is the reason that Quinn Sean Judkins got hurt. I mean, I don't know. What do you think, Bone? [00:40:22] Speaker B: I knocked on wood when I said that. [00:40:24] Speaker E: He did say it and he also knocked on wood. So. So I don't know. Quinn John's taking a lot of hits this year. He's kind of been a bell count back. [00:40:31] Speaker A: Are you letting Kenny off the hook? [00:40:33] Speaker B: It's Christmas. [00:40:35] Speaker E: I don't know. Every reading back in the NFL gets hurt. [00:40:37] Speaker A: That's probably true too. But I still, I still blame Kenny for the timing of this whole thing because he's getting close to a thousand yards. Okay. He's like, he's not going to get there. [00:40:46] Speaker B: To your point, the good news, modern medicine is pretty incredible. When you go, when you, when you rewind the tape 20, 25 years, ACLs were career, not season enders, career enders for a lot of guys. And in that time, medicine has come a long way to the point where we see guys now that tear that in our back within a year's time. So broken bone, hopefully in this case, no big deal, just sucks in the moment. [00:41:07] Speaker A: Yeah. Next up here, our favorite Shador hater, Jason Whitlock has now dubbed the Shador fan Shador Sexuals. He says that they stun his growth and hinder his success by refusing to criticize him, him or point out ways that he can improve on the field as a player or leader. And this all stemmed from wristband gate and everybody saying that there was a wristband pro. We got a lot of shit for this online because they're like, oh, they talked about this and they said that's not what it was. Even Shador said that's not what it was. Of course Shador is not going to sit there and say, I don't know, somebody gave me the wrong wristband. Like, you're not going to come out and say that. And two, Kevin Stefanski's bullshit excuse of, of, well, something got on the wristband. You know, these things are fucking laminated. [00:41:48] Speaker B: Yeah. The fact that Kevin, you wipe it off. Because Kevin for the most part is pretty composed. He's given us a lot of bullshit this year because there's no good answer to a lot of these questions. Kevin, why is the team keep losing? Well, we got to get better. There's not a good answer to a lot of that. [00:42:03] Speaker A: Starts with me. [00:42:04] Speaker B: Yeah, I mean, he's, he at least has taken accountability himself. It doesn't reflect across the organization because they still make the same mistakes every week. But for him to backpedal and get caught up as he was answering this question and, and go and come up with, I, I, something happened with the wristband. Clearly he, he couldn't say out loud the quiet part out loud, which is somebody somewhere fucked up on my watch and we set Shador out into the field with the wrong wristband, the wrong play calls into your point. Shador isn't just like when they ask Shador, Shador, do you agree with the going forward on fourth down, you're not going to throw your coach under the Bus and say, I don't know. The equipment staff, somebody screwed up somewhere, gave me the wrong place. So yeah, they're going to answer with the. The team speak team first mentality. Which is. Is guys, I don't know what happened. Like something it's. [00:42:51] Speaker E: It was every week they try to trap Shador with a question like that and he refuses to get into it. [00:42:56] Speaker B: You're not going to get an honest answer to. To say, you know, Jimmy, my equipment guy, he screwed up this week in a big time. [00:43:03] Speaker D: Man. [00:43:03] Speaker B: I don't know how that guy's still employed. Like, what did you think he was going to say? What did you want him to say there? [00:43:10] Speaker A: I don't know. And for this whole Shador sexuals thing, it's so annoying because if you say anything good about Shador Sanders, like we, we're. We're very aware of this is. We've been cautiously optimistic this whole time. We've said a lot of good things about Shador. We've also been critical of Shore when. When he deserves it. And either way we talk, we get shit on because people are like, oh, you're a Shador sexual now, according to Jason Whitlock, I guess. [00:43:37] Speaker B: Or should door sexual. [00:43:38] Speaker A: Or when you criticize him, you get called a racist. Like Kenny's been called. So like, I don't know. I don't really know how to handle this. He's a rookie quarterback that we hope succeeds in Cleveland. I don't know how else to put that and be politically correct. [00:43:52] Speaker B: I said he has to improve on his footwork and step up in the pocket. And I was instantly racist. But if I root for the guy, I'm a Shador sexual. [00:44:00] Speaker A: It's a hard life to live out here. Is any type of Cleveland media personality whatsoever. It's a really hard fucking life. [00:44:07] Speaker B: It's amazing how polarizing this guy is. And for a guy that I'll continue to say every week on this show has not done anything particularly polarizing. He's a rookie quarterback. I think he's putting out a ton of effort every week. He's saying a lot of the right things to the media. [00:44:24] Speaker A: Trying to first, people will kill me for this. But he legitimately look at what he's actually done and he just tries to keep his head down and work. Like just. [00:44:32] Speaker B: I saw after this game, I saw the. The replay of the early reverse that they ran. Shador threw a very, you know, effective kind of basketball block. [00:44:44] Speaker A: He. [00:44:44] Speaker B: He basically turned of the defender which bought the Al or whoever was running. [00:44:49] Speaker A: The ball Time that's like, coach, you don't. You just put your hands up. [00:44:52] Speaker B: And he was getting criticized with, oh, that's a good job blocking. Like, he was supposed to take him on like an offensive lineman and pancake the guy. [00:44:58] Speaker A: That's exactly what you want your quarterback to do. [00:45:00] Speaker B: Yeah, like, most quarterbacks aren't involved in that play at all because you don't want to take the risk of. [00:45:04] Speaker A: If you would have got body slammed by that defender and hurt his shoulder and not been able to, I don't know, play for a season, he would have gotten killed by the entire Cleveland, everybody. I mean, fans, media, everybody. [00:45:16] Speaker B: We loved the dog mentality of Baker Mayfield, but that's also what ended his time here in Cleveland because he tried to make a tackle on that interception he threw. [00:45:22] Speaker A: That was the connection. [00:45:23] Speaker B: So. Well, right. Well, I'm just saying, like, and I think if you watch Baker now, he's much more cautious after he throws a pick as to what he's doing, because you can't, if you are the franchise, you can't put yourself in harm's way like that. So the fact that Shador is, is making an effort saying, hey, this is an important play for the team, I got to go out and do something. That was what I expect my quarterback to do, the basketball block. Hey, I'm going to slow this guy down just to buy a second of time. That's all I expect my quarterback to do. But then to get called out even for that, what do you want him to do? This guy can't do anything right. He's damned if he does, damn if he doesn't, no matter what he does. And it's just so frustrating because at the end of the day, if you watch this team week in and week out, the offense has significantly improved. Are they a good offense? No. But it's a night and day difference in their ability to at least move the ball and look, look like an NFL offense when he's in the game. [00:46:14] Speaker A: Yeah, and here's, here's a quick criticism because I said we will criticize him when he deserves it. That what you were just talking about to me is a good thing. Like, you're not, you're not trying to put your body on the line, but you're at least getting in the way of a defender. A really bad thing he did later in the game. He threw an interception and just stood there. Like, didn't even move. He literally just stood there. You gotta at least give some effort. [00:46:36] Speaker B: I don't. I go back to the to the Baker Mayfield thing. Like, I don't know. There's 10 other guys on the field. I don't need my quarterback to make a hero. [00:46:42] Speaker A: I mean, I agree with you. I would say you at least make it look like you're making some effort, that you got to run towards the ball. [00:46:48] Speaker B: If it's January 25th and it's the divisional playoff and you're playing to go to the AFC championship, I think maybe Shador probably has to do something there. You at least run towards the play, look like you're interested in the play. [00:46:59] Speaker A: Well, and I guess you're a Shador. Sexual. Because I'm. I'm willing to criticize him a little bit. [00:47:05] Speaker B: I'll give my quarterback a pass for not getting involved on a play that should could impact his career in a negative way. [00:47:13] Speaker A: You love him. [00:47:14] Speaker B: But I do think there's fair. There's fair criticism to this point. Up until this week's game, his completion percentage hasn't been good. I think a lot of that is he's been trying to take care of the ball and not put it in harm's way, so he's just more apt to throw it away. But I think that his completion percentage hasn't been good. The picks, obviously are bad. I think he has more picks now than touchdowns. Like, he's got to. He's got to clean those things up. So there are fair criticisms to lob at this guy, but I think they're also fair rookie criticism. I think if. Even if his name wasn't Shador Sanders, I think those are things that I would. I would say, hey, any rookie quarterback has to work on being more efficient and taking care of the football. Those are. Those are all just fair things that you have to work on. [00:47:49] Speaker A: Yeah. Yeah. Let's move on from. From Shador. For the moment. We're going to. We're going to talk about Kevin Stefanski because we just fucking love this guy. [00:47:58] Speaker B: Just the fancy sexuals out there. [00:48:00] Speaker A: Yeah, Kevin. Kevin Stefanski is still the Browns coach somehow, some way. But if you needed more reason. Reasons to want the Browns to let go of him, then don't worry, I've got them for you. He's had 14 different quarterbacks since 2021 and hasn't developed a single one. We are top 10 in pass attempts for three straight years, and we are in the bottom half the league and passing offense each of those years. [00:48:27] Speaker B: And. [00:48:27] Speaker A: I believe we're top five two out of those three years in past attempts. So take that for what's worth. But this week. This week, Kevin Stefanski finally sounded desperate. And what do I mean by that? In his postgame press conference. I don't know if anybody saw this, but for the first time that I can remember, he praised Shador Sanders. [00:48:49] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:48:50] Speaker A: And he didn't just praise him. He went on like, a nonsensical, glowing review of. Of Shador Sanders. Like, it was. It was legitimately. It took him like, four minutes to finish his sentence about how Shador Sanders has come a long way. He's done a lot of things. He's really come through with this. I think Sanders has made strides in a bunch of areas. Like, it was just rambling nonsense about how much better Shador Sanders is now. [00:49:14] Speaker B: It was so funny because you're 100% right. He went into a glowing review of Shador and then at the very end said, but he's young and he's got a lot of things to work on. [00:49:25] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:49:26] Speaker B: He realized that this was out of the ordinary and he was like, I gotta reign this back in real quick and make sure they still know that I don't like the guy. [00:49:35] Speaker A: So the reason that I bring this up is this is a guy to me that is. Is clearly trying to hang on onto his job. And, and, and it actually, it scares the hell out of me because Jimmy. Jimmy may fall for this. Like, Jimmy loves a company man. And if. If, if after an entire season of refusing to say Shador Sanders name and shitting all over Shador in different ways, ways Kevin Stefanski could say, oh, this guy's fantastic. We love him. He's a great quarterback. He's doing really good things. He's being, you know, he's. He's developing. Blah, blah. Like, that's the guy that Jimmy would want to stay here and keep as a coach. So this is the first glimpse of, like, oh, we might be stuck with this guy for another year that I've had. [00:50:18] Speaker B: So the, the glimpse of me every week saying, they're not going to fire Kevin Stefanski. Well, you're. [00:50:23] Speaker A: You're a fucking idiot. Let's be honest. Like, I. I think you're the dumbest guy I know. I mean, I'm just being real here. So I, I took that for, like, I didn't count it for anything. It was just. That was just a dumb thing that you were saying. But now it's got some legs. [00:50:39] Speaker B: You're right. That Kevin or the Jimmy. [00:50:41] Speaker A: One of Bone's favorite sayings of all time is, is get legs. This has some legs. [00:50:46] Speaker B: Get legs. Every time we golf Golf ball, whatever. [00:50:51] Speaker E: You're. [00:50:52] Speaker B: That's true. [00:50:53] Speaker E: Billiards. [00:50:53] Speaker B: Anything with a ball. [00:50:54] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:50:55] Speaker B: Sometimes he just tickles my sack. Get legs. [00:50:58] Speaker A: I didn't see that coming, but it was not on my Bing today. [00:51:02] Speaker B: Jimmy does love a company man because Jimmy knows sometimes you need a fall guy. And those company men are always the guy that. That takes the blame. And right now, Kevin, is that for Jimmy, because you can't fire the owner. So we know that. So we talk about this on show a lot, that we don't spend a lot of time there. But no owner wants to have their name dragged through the mud. [00:51:26] Speaker A: Nope. [00:51:26] Speaker B: And Jimmy right now is the guy that's taking the arrows for this organ or. Sorry, not Jimmy. Kevin is the guy that's taking the arrows for this organ right now. Because a lot of this. You talk to anybody that's involved in any level of organization, a lot of, you know, it kind of starts at the top, bleeds its way down. Right. Whatever the culture is, starts at the top. And, you know, it's just a loser's lament in this case because you can't fire the owner. There's nothing you can do there. So I think there is a respect that Kevin can earn here from Jimmy that may very well buy him another year. [00:51:56] Speaker A: And this is like the equivalent of groveling. [00:51:59] Speaker B: And I think, though, that we've reached a point where you can't deny it anymore. As much as Kevin wants to believe Dylan Gabriel is a perfect fit for whatever system he wants to run, what we've seen from Shador is not. It's not that he's all pro, Tom Brady, he's the greatest thing we've ever seen, but we've seen a guy that is working to improve himself every week. That is in an undeniable fashion, the things that he's getting better, the offense looks better. We're completing downfield passes for the first time in two years. Really. [00:52:25] Speaker A: I mean, I will say this. There wasn't very many of them this week. And I think that's. I wasn't even going to get into this, but I think that's a product of. Of Kevin Stefanski coaching the aggressiveness out of Shador Sanders. We won't get into that. That's a topic for another time. [00:52:41] Speaker B: One remark on that. I think that was the fact that there is tape on Shador Sanders. Now in. In four or five weeks, he had 10 completions over 30 yards. If you know that that's the only offense that he brings to the table. And they talked about that. On the bracket. I mean, they were dropping, you know, three. [00:52:56] Speaker A: Here's my blind hate for Kevin Stefanski. Just make. I just want to. [00:52:59] Speaker B: They were dropping third and quarter zones, basically. They were just stepping back and saying, we're not going to let anything go deep. And that was all he had to work with, was the underneath. So I think that was by design, a little bit by the defensive game plan. But I digress. [00:53:11] Speaker E: I've never seen Quinn Sean get so many pests thrown his way, which may have to do with what. What's his face, Samson being hurt. But yeah, yeah, I mean, yeah, they. [00:53:21] Speaker B: Just were taking a lot of underneath stuff because that's what was there. [00:53:24] Speaker A: That worked out well. But anyways, yeah, I think I ru. Ruined a thought that you had, but we're going to move on here. Mike Marks, go ahead. [00:53:34] Speaker B: My final thought is just that you're starting to see. Read the tea leaves. Based on the reporting that's coming out of Berea, that it seems like out of the horse race between Kevin and Andrew Barry, Andrew Barry seems to have the foothold. So, you know, Kevin's not dumb. He did go to an Ivy League school. As much as we joke about that, he sees the writing on the wall. So he knows if he doesn't win any of these games here at the end of the year, like, it's not a good. It's not a defensible record at this point. 6 and 25 over two years pretty much gets anyone fired. [00:54:02] Speaker A: What did I say in, like, week? Week two, Week three. I said, at the end of the season, he'll be about 600. Yeah, that's where we're at, guys. [00:54:10] Speaker B: Somehow you still picked him to win like eight or nine games this year. [00:54:12] Speaker A: That was before the season. Not a few games in. All right, so on the Kevin Stefanski line of thinking here, Mike Marks came out this week and defended him. He said he's good in so many areas. I just love his demeanor. He's calm. Nothing is off the cuff tough. Everything is really thought out. Thought through. Well, you know how I know that this guy has literally never watched the Browns or Kevin Stefanski's pressers. He just told me that everything is thought through. [00:54:40] Speaker B: Well, yeah, like the way they've handled this quarterback situation all year long. [00:54:44] Speaker A: The way they've handled the quarterback situation. Every single answer he gives, every boilerplate answer he gives, which is a terrible boil. Boilerplate, by the way, for him and pressers. The fact that he can never speak to anything that's happening in a game after the Game after the game happens. [00:54:58] Speaker B: Like, what happened? I don't know. We got. We got to review the tape and find out. [00:55:00] Speaker A: I have no idea what happened. I didn't watch. [00:55:03] Speaker B: Watching the game. Yeah. [00:55:07] Speaker A: How fitting. Playoffs. You kidding me? [00:55:10] Speaker B: I like that you disrespected Mike Martz by calling him Mike Marks. Guy is responsible for some of the best NFL teams in the history of the league, and you called him Marks. [00:55:19] Speaker A: You know, autocorrect gets me on my note every once in a while, and here we are. [00:55:25] Speaker B: But. But agree with the premise, right? This is a bullshit response. [00:55:29] Speaker A: Like, what world does this guy live in? [00:55:31] Speaker B: Maybe they're friends. I think maybe his. His prime is beyond him. He was a good coach in the NFL. He's not a good observer anymore. Nothing that Kevin has done for this franchise. 6 and 25. 6 and 25 is not well thought out. [00:55:44] Speaker A: No. [00:55:44] Speaker B: Having four quarterbacks on this roster is not well thought out. In camp, starting Joe Flacco making a mess of him. Going to Dylan Gabriel making a mess of that. That. None of that is well thought out. The fact that we didn't even know that you even had a conversation with Shador Sanders until week 15. Not well thought out. None of this was. Was planned well at all. So just a. It's just a. You know, I think sometimes in the professional setting, when you don't know the answer to something or you're not well read in something, you just give those bullshit responses like, you know, what do you think of the geopolitical tensions in the Middle east right now? You're just like, well, you know, everybody's got to get. Get along. Like. Like without. It's so well thought out without acknowledging any facts or any of the actual sites because you don't have any of the details. I think that word this is war. [00:56:32] Speaker A: Is not a good thing, and we shouldn't. We shouldn't go to war. [00:56:34] Speaker B: That was the. That was the generic response, number 1. [00:56:36] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:56:37] Speaker B: I think Kevin's a good coach because he's a peer. Like, that's. That's the only thing you're basing that on at this point. [00:56:42] Speaker A: Yeah. And, you know, you gave the record for the last couple years here again, we talked about it just a minute ago. I said a couple games in this year, we're going to finish. We're going to be. He's going to be 15 or 16 games under.500. Well, right now he's 43 and 56 with the Browns. [00:56:56] Speaker B: Yeah. There's two more games, two more losses to come. [00:56:58] Speaker A: So with two more losses, you're 15 games under.500 through six years. That's not good. [00:57:02] Speaker B: It's got to be one of the worst all time records for a, a two time coach of the year. For a coach of the year in general. For a two time coach of the year, it's probably got to go down in history as the worst overall record for a two time coach of the year bone. [00:57:13] Speaker A: Get on that next up here, another, another media personality, Mary K. Back at it again. She kind of echoed those same sentiments. [00:57:21] Speaker B: This was clown of the week worthy. [00:57:23] Speaker A: Yeah. She said she'd love to see Stefanski with a competent quarterback and that he's never had that in Cleveland. [00:57:33] Speaker E: Does she is the ultimate mouthpiece. [00:57:36] Speaker A: She is specifically for Kevin Stefan. Like, let's be honest. [00:57:40] Speaker B: She's trying, she's lobbying really hard to get some year. [00:57:44] Speaker A: I'm not going to speculate anymore. Kenny got mad at me in our live show. He was like, you're, you're, you're getting crazy over there. So I'm just not going to speculate anymore. [00:57:54] Speaker B: I'm the one first that, that suggested an extramarital affair between Mary Kay and Kevin. [00:57:59] Speaker A: How else do you explain this? [00:58:02] Speaker B: Alleged that I was, there's something going on there. [00:58:05] Speaker A: Alleged. How else do you explain this though? [00:58:07] Speaker B: I, I, I in indefensible. Right? The, the fact that you had like. [00:58:11] Speaker A: That'S not even reporting. [00:58:13] Speaker B: You had like what is that you who won the playoff. First playoff game in 30 years for the Cleveland Browns. So you were in the playoffs up. [00:58:21] Speaker A: Until you got hurt this year and everybody else on our team got here. He was an MVP candidate who was. [00:58:25] Speaker B: A Heisman Trophy winner, played for a big time college football program, played in number one overall, played in the college football playoffs. Number one overall pick like pedigreed guy. [00:58:34] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:58:35] Speaker B: So you can't, you can't act like he's only had fifth round draft picks to work with. Right. There's a guy that a lot of teams wanted. We happened to be able to have the picks of the time to get to the top of the draft after tanking for three years. [00:58:47] Speaker A: So that's number one. Competent. [00:58:49] Speaker B: That's number one. And a guy who's now won playoff games at two separate franchises, which is rare in the NFL. And then you dropped that guy to go chase a guy who was an all Pro, a top five top 10 at least. You know, well respected quarterback, respected for his play, not for his office. [00:59:07] Speaker A: And regardless of why or how that happened, Deshaun Watson was a top ten top five quarterback. He was the leading passer in the NFL. [00:59:18] Speaker B: Damn near 5,000. I mean, and the guy had one playoff. [00:59:21] Speaker A: It doesn't matter what happened. He was the leading passer in the NFL. [00:59:25] Speaker B: And you, and you dropped everything and turned this franchise all the way around to get him to the tune of $230 million guaranteed. So this idea that somehow Kevin, this. [00:59:36] Speaker A: Is where, this is where Andrew Barry criticisms come in. Like this is, this is. That's not a Kevin Stefanski only decision, but I guarantee you he signed off on it. [00:59:45] Speaker B: The, the part of the story was that Kevin was there to, to woo him and talk to him about all the cool things you were going to do in. Kevin wooed him. [00:59:54] Speaker E: Can I add one more? [00:59:55] Speaker A: Yes, please. [00:59:56] Speaker E: He's not, he hasn't been a starter in the league, but Jacoby Brissette has been the go to guy for multiple NFL franchises when their quarterback has gone down to take over. To take over. [01:00:07] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah. Indianapolis, Arizona, New England for a time. So, yeah, I mean there's another guy that, that at least was a, he was a good player. He's an, he's an average to above average NFL quarterback. Is he, is he a franchise quarterback? Maybe not necessarily, but he's a good player. He's had a long career in the NFL. [01:00:24] Speaker A: So it's just the craziest narrative I've ever heard anybody. [01:00:28] Speaker B: To bring. Yeah. To bring this idea that he's had. Nobody. Doesn't make any sense. So you've had guys here that have won in other places that are competent NFL starters and you couldn't make them work here, including Joe Flacco this year who after a full off season in call in Kevin's program. Program went from being really good the last time he was in Cleveland to here and went straight to Cincinnati and started throwing for 300 yards again. [01:00:53] Speaker A: I was going to say, if you try and say it's because he was washed. He literally left here, went three hours south and was thrown for 300 yards regularly. [01:01:02] Speaker B: Yeah. And Cincinnati has their own problems. They win a lot of games, but they're in Kentucky. [01:01:06] Speaker A: That's their number one. [01:01:06] Speaker B: Wasn't Joe Flacco's problem. So yeah, this idea that he hasn't had a good quarterback, I don't, I don't want Kevin Stefanski around anywhere near. Near whoever my next quarterback is. If that's Shador or if we draft another quarterback this year. [01:01:20] Speaker A: No. Moving on. Well, I think we've beat the Stefanski horse to death. Moving on. Miles Garrett is approaching history. And if there is any question as to how dominant this guy is. John tinchy on Facebook. TJ Watt in his record tying year, 618 pass plays, 22 and a half sacks. Michael Strahan and his record year, 567 pass plays, plays 22.5 sacks. Miles Garrett this year, 437 pass plays, 22 sacks. [01:01:53] Speaker B: Wow. [01:01:54] Speaker A: The efficiency here is just absolutely absurd. Just off the charts. [01:01:58] Speaker B: Yeah. There's been a lot of talk that, like, if it takes him all 17 games, like, is there an asterisk on this record? I don't, I don't think you can put one. When you take into consideration the amount of opportunities that he's had are far fewer. Even with two more games to play. Right. There's going to be what, another 50 a game? 60 a game. So you're still going to be shy probably of Michael strahan even in 17 games and well under TJ Watts efficiency. So yeah, give Miles another 150 cracks at it. I mean, I think he probably comes down with a few more sacks. [01:02:30] Speaker A: Yeah. I mean, again, I go back to the prediction I had before the year started where I said he gets 30 sacks. If he would have had the number that Michael Strahan and T.J. watt had, he probably does have 30 sacks right now. Yeah. [01:02:42] Speaker B: Yeah. And that's the other thing too. I mean, so I was doing that math off of the holistic total of plays in a game. He's not on the field for every play in a game. If the defense, if the defense has 65 offensive plays and Miles is only in for 40 of them and you. [01:02:56] Speaker A: Only count the pass plays, this is only pass plays. [01:02:58] Speaker B: Right. So. And the fact of the matter is this, Brown. [01:03:00] Speaker A: So you're probably gonna end up with like 60 more total. [01:03:02] Speaker B: Yeah, maybe. Maybe that would be a higher number. Probably. Probably more like 25 each. [01:03:08] Speaker A: Let's just say he gets 63 because that takes it to an even 5, 500. [01:03:12] Speaker B: Right. Yeah. [01:03:13] Speaker A: That's still 67 less pass plays than Michael Strahan in, in the fantasy. And 118 less pass plays in the fantasy. [01:03:21] Speaker B: That's, that's because this brown seam is so bad. [01:03:23] Speaker A: Yeah. [01:03:24] Speaker B: Right. Is as much as the defense has been on the field, teams haven't had to throw the ball to beat us. [01:03:29] Speaker A: No. So, yeah, just Miles Garrett playing out of his mind. Anybody that thinks that he's not good, a Hall of Famer or not, you know, defensive player of the year candidate, is an idiot. [01:03:40] Speaker B: Can I say a final thing on this, though? [01:03:42] Speaker A: Sure. [01:03:43] Speaker B: If Miles doesn't come up with a sack over the next two games, it's going to feel real bad. [01:03:47] Speaker D: Oh yeah. [01:03:48] Speaker B: Not that it's not a good season. It's a great season. It's a legacy season. [01:03:51] Speaker A: I mean, I'm going to be honest, I'll probably clown clown Miles Garrett. [01:03:54] Speaker B: But if you don't come up with one sack the next two games to have the record after all the time. [01:03:59] Speaker A: I don't think you're getting the record ever. [01:04:00] Speaker B: Right. In 20, 20, 25 on your wristband every week, that's gonna feel real bad. [01:04:04] Speaker A: Yeah. [01:04:04] Speaker E: The effort Buffalo took to run away from him was insane. [01:04:10] Speaker A: Yeah. Yeah. [01:04:11] Speaker E: So it's like step up, rest defense. [01:04:13] Speaker A: Yeah, that's. And that's. [01:04:14] Speaker B: I mean if you're double and triple teaming Miles to make sure he doesn't get the sack record like I expect your Mason Grahams and. Alright, I think that's Jim Schwartz message. [01:04:21] Speaker A: To the team this week is, is. [01:04:23] Speaker B: Somebody'S gotta get the home. [01:04:24] Speaker A: Yeah. [01:04:25] Speaker E: Right. [01:04:27] Speaker A: Yeah. So final note in the Browns brief, which is the longest brief Browns brief we've ever had. [01:04:32] Speaker B: The Browns long. [01:04:33] Speaker A: Yeah. The Broncos have overcome nearly $130 million in dead salary cap over the last two years. Sean Payton has led the Broncos to the playoffs for the second consecutive season with Bo Nicks. By the way, they might even get the number one season or number, number one season, number one seed this year. If they can do it, then why can't the Browns do it? And you say it all the time, Kenny. So I just wanted to bring it up here. Teams go from worst to first every year. Why not us? Why not us? [01:05:00] Speaker B: It can be done here. And you look around the league and Sean Payton is a good NFL coach. He wants Super Bowls. There's other guys. [01:05:08] Speaker A: That's probably the key is we got to bring in a good coach. [01:05:09] Speaker B: There's other guys though. But there's other guys though. You're Dan Quinn's of the world and some of these other guys that got hired a second time and they're just competent. They just know how to build a staff, organize and bring in the right people to do the right job. And the Browns for whatever reason have fallen into this analytics mud hole, this rabbit hole of. And trying to outsmart and outthink everybody as opposed to just going back to saying, hey, what are the fundamentals here? What can we build? They, they were close when you had John Dorsey here. They were doing some of the right things and brought in, you know, some, some of the guys. I mean you know, Kyle Shanahan was here. Like, there were. There were some guys in the building that were good. The problem is you went away from that after the Freddy Kitchens disaster, fired John Dorsey, and then fell into this deepest of bullsh to Ivy League everything and trying to be the smartest guy in the room as opposed to just saying, hey, we were close here. We need to do what makes sense, and we can do that again. [01:06:04] Speaker D: You don't. [01:06:05] Speaker B: You don't have to. You don't have to have the best coach out there. You just need a decent one. [01:06:10] Speaker A: Yeah. [01:06:11] Speaker B: And Kevin is so far from that that you're. You're 6 and 25 over two years. [01:06:15] Speaker A: Yeah. So again, with the new coach. Why not us Is the final thought there. So, as I said, this has been the longest Browns brief that we've ever had. So we'll speed it up from here. Hang on your butts, because I'm about to speed this thing up as we get into the division roundup. Cincinnati demolished the Dolphins, who bench tua. Nobody knew that before we picked last week's game, but here we are. Me and John were right. You and Bone were wrong. [01:06:49] Speaker B: Kenny, I definitely wouldn't have picked the Dolphins hitting. [01:06:51] Speaker E: Yeah, I was not a little upset about that. [01:06:53] Speaker A: You guys are. Baltimore lost to New England in a tight one. [01:06:58] Speaker B: Tight one. [01:06:58] Speaker A: We were all right. Except for Kenny. He was desperation picking there. We'll get to that in a little bit. Pittsburgh somehow went into Detroit and beat the Lions, and they've done it. They stay above.500 again under Mike Tomlin. So for all you Mike Tomlin haters, everybody thought this was gonna be the year, including us. Didn't happen. We were all wrong. Except for Kenny, which, again, to be fair, is desperation. Picks. You got it right. [01:07:22] Speaker E: Nice pick. [01:07:23] Speaker A: And then Cleveland lost to the Bills in a surprisingly competitive game. We were all right in this one. For the AFC north standings are as follows. Pittsburgh's at 9 and 6. Baltimore's at 7 and 8. Cincinnati at 5 and 10, and Cleveland at 3 and 12. And the current king of the north standings, Bone, 33 and 18. Me and John are right behind you at 32 and 19. And Kenny, again, we'll talk about this later, but you've officially lost. You are. You've lost King of the north. You're 23 and 28 and have no way to. To catch up. How's that feel? Don't care. Let's take a quick trip around the NFL. All right, guys, just a few stories here. First off, MGM released a step for the all time wins on Sunday night football. Number one, Dallas, with 42 wins on Sunday Night Football. No surprise there. They get put in prime time even when they suck. So true. At number 32 out of 32, your Cleveland Browns with a whopping total of two wins. [01:08:28] Speaker B: That's it. [01:08:28] Speaker A: We got two. [01:08:29] Speaker B: So we got. [01:08:30] Speaker A: Feels bad, not a good record. So. So yes, you heard that right. Dallas has 40 more wins than we do on Sunday Night Football alone. Next up here, DK Matt Calf will be out this week as he punched a fan in the second quarter of the Steelers game this past weekend. So that's always good. [01:08:47] Speaker B: Getting a little bit of conflicting reports here. I mean the last thing that I saw was that essentially this guy called him his name and I forget his name is like decaying something. But he doesn't like. Apparently he doesn't like being called his quote unquote government name and that's what set him off. [01:09:07] Speaker A: Just. [01:09:07] Speaker B: Just dumb. [01:09:08] Speaker E: I've heard this guy has bothered him the past past as well. [01:09:11] Speaker B: Oh, is that right? Repeat offender. [01:09:13] Speaker E: Yes. [01:09:14] Speaker B: Interesting. [01:09:15] Speaker E: Yeah. [01:09:15] Speaker A: Yeah. [01:09:16] Speaker B: Cuz then there was another report, but I. It didn't come from any kind of credible source that he was saying other things about his family and stuff. [01:09:21] Speaker A: But either way, this is mid second quarter. What the hell are you doing over on the sidelines? Like. [01:09:26] Speaker B: And that's my whole point is like this isn't basketball where you're getting pushed into the seats and people there's a. [01:09:31] Speaker A: Pretty big gap between. [01:09:32] Speaker B: He walked over to and this is a high wall. Yeah, he walked over to him to. [01:09:40] Speaker A: Engage him, reached up, grabbed him. [01:09:43] Speaker B: What are you doing? Just, just stay on the sideline, watch the game. Pay attention to your team. What are you. [01:09:48] Speaker A: Now I will say. The only thing I'll say on DK Metcalf's behalf is everybody talked about how this was a punch. It wasn't really a punch. It was like a. He like pushed his face away. So I was just like, come on, punch is a strong word but like he couldn't have actually done any damage to anybody with what he did did to him. But still just a dumb move by DK Metcalf. [01:10:09] Speaker E: Yeah, he went out immediately after that and dropped the next pass. That was right in his chest. [01:10:13] Speaker A: Of course he did because his head is clearly not in the game. Next up here, the Chiefs Lee are have announced that they will leave Arrowhead and relocate to a dome stadium in Kansas City in 2031. And this must have leaked to distract from the fact that they got absolutely humped by the Titans this week, like, not even close. [01:10:33] Speaker B: Domes are in. [01:10:34] Speaker A: Yeah. So for anybody bitching about the Browns, here's another outdoor stadium that will be no more. It's just the way things are going. Get used to it. It is what it is. I. I don't know. Like, I don't know how many more things that can happen before you're like, yeah, I guess domes are going to happen. [01:10:50] Speaker B: I don't even know. [01:10:51] Speaker A: Yeah, I like that. [01:10:52] Speaker B: No, but I've heard, I've heard Travis and Jason Kelsey talk about this a bit on their podcast. They were kind of. [01:10:58] Speaker A: Jason Kelsey was like, I don't like non domes. It's just not my thing. [01:11:01] Speaker B: Yeah. He was kind of like, they were kind of throwing shade a little bit at Cleveland, like for building the dome. And I think Travis kind of had an air of superiority about him because he was like, well, we play outside in Kansas City. [01:11:12] Speaker A: Well, now you don't. [01:11:13] Speaker B: Welcome to a brother. [01:11:14] Speaker A: Yeah. Yeah. We should put this segment up against that side and be like, it's weird. You. [01:11:19] Speaker D: Yeah. [01:11:20] Speaker B: The segment of me stumbling and not be able to say my words out of my, out of my mouth. [01:11:23] Speaker A: Talk. He talks. And then here we're. He's going to retire anyways. He's never going to play in that fair. Next up, the Rams hosted an official watch party at Sofi for their Thursday night game against Seattle. In case there was any question about LA being a football town, the estimates ranged from dozens to under 100 people showing up for this. [01:11:42] Speaker C: That's wild. [01:11:43] Speaker E: Their team is amazing this year too. [01:11:44] Speaker B: Their team is very good. [01:11:46] Speaker A: 70,000 person stadium. [01:11:48] Speaker B: And you're just, you're in one of the largest cities in America. And I know, know that like California, especially la, is disconnected from the rest of the world and just all of reality in general, but still, you would think there's enough fans. I mean. [01:12:02] Speaker A: Nope. [01:12:02] Speaker B: What's in LA? Like 8 or 10 million people. Like there's a bunch of people there. [01:12:06] Speaker E: Just go into the stadium. It just looks immaculate on TV. [01:12:09] Speaker A: Like you guys couldn't get more than 100 people to show up for this watch party. Out of. Out of 8 million. [01:12:13] Speaker B: That's pretty bad. And it's. I mean, just going back to like the move there never made sense to me at all. [01:12:18] Speaker E: Maybe that just speaks to two. Just how much more there is to do in probably the city of la. [01:12:22] Speaker B: That's the only other thing I can think of is, you know, first, it's disconnected from reality, but second, like, if you're in la. [01:12:28] Speaker E: Yeah. [01:12:29] Speaker B: I don't know, there's a million things you can go do. There's movie premier premieres, beaches, mountains. Like there's all kinds of stuff to do out there. [01:12:35] Speaker A: That's fair. But if the Browns were good, I guarantee you, even if they were in LA, same like you're getting more than 100 fans at a watch party. [01:12:45] Speaker D: Yeah. [01:12:45] Speaker B: And I don't know how the economics break down on this now. [01:12:47] Speaker A: The Browns are what they are now. You win three games, you're three and 12 at the end of the season. Not you. You'd be lucky to get 100. [01:12:53] Speaker E: I'd be curious to see what they were charging people to. To get into a watch party. [01:12:57] Speaker B: Well, and I just don't know how the economics break down with like the TV contracts out there stuff because they're probably so much bigger for local affiliates and stuff. So like, I don't know, is the franchise still making money hand over fist or is there something to being in a town like. Like in Cleveland, there isn't anything better to do on Sunday besides watch football. [01:13:14] Speaker A: And so that's why when you're in CLEVELAND and it's three in the and. [01:13:17] Speaker B: We'Re three, 3:12, everybody's still watching. [01:13:19] Speaker A: Still got a pretty good watch party. Yeah. Yeah. I don't know. I. LA sucks. According to comedian Corey Holcomb, Stephen A. Smith and Molly Quorum were involved in a romantic relationship before she left the network. He also said that she was a terrible person and no one liked her. So I don't slow news week in the NFL. I guess this is what we got. [01:13:40] Speaker B: All alleged from a comedian. But it was no news. It was. It was a little. Her departure seemed rushed and kind of out of the blue a little bit. I mean, she'd been on first take for a while, but it was. It was odd that she kind of left this year and was replaced. [01:13:55] Speaker A: So maybe. Molly Quam, if you're looking for a job, I'm sure Kenny would love to have you a whole lot here at Tapping Media. He would love to have you on the network. [01:14:04] Speaker B: That's right. Yeah. Call me. [01:14:06] Speaker A: So with. With that, Ken, it's time for another interview. [01:14:10] Speaker B: You ready? Let's do it. How much money do you make a year before taxes? [01:14:18] Speaker A: I'm actually not comfortable answering that. [01:14:20] Speaker B: Come on, we're doing the interview now, not you. [01:14:24] Speaker A: All right, so for this brownsbackers interview, please help me. Welcome. Hailing from Scotty's on first in Wellesdon, Ohio, the treasurer of the Jackson County Brownsbackers gym. [01:14:35] Speaker D: Hey, Ronnie. Kenny, good to you Guys, things are good down here. I appreciate you guys having us on, getting us a little recognition. You know, we're proud of the stuff we do and really look forward to talking to you guys this evening. [01:14:50] Speaker A: Absolutely. And thanks for joining us. And so, Jim, to get things started, I just. Tell us a little bit about your chapter. [01:14:57] Speaker D: Hey, we are we established actually officially in 2018. We had talked about it a couple years previously about do we want to do this, to do this? And it was always, yes, we wanted to do it, but we were afraid to take that leap. But finally we just said, hey, let's do it. We did it, got it going. We've had exceptional, exceptional response down here with people participating, wanting, wanting to participate. You know, we're. We're four hours from Cleveland. When I tell you we're in southern Ohio. Ohio. We're in southern Ohio. We're really, really close to the river, to Kentucky and West Virginia. We're actually about two hours from Cincinnati, straight east of Cincinnati. But we really don't claim that as part of Ohio. [01:15:45] Speaker A: No, they're part of Kentucky. [01:15:48] Speaker D: Well, we said the only reason they didn't find a. Or didn't build the stadium in Kentucky is they couldn't find a flat spot. That's why in Cincinnati. [01:15:57] Speaker A: Okay, but you. We have a T shirt, you know, you could. You could buy on our website, it says Cincinnati is in Kentucky. So. [01:16:04] Speaker D: Well, if it matters, Cincinnati Airport is in Covington, Kentucky. I always like to bring that up to Bengals fans. So, you know, but as far as this Brownsbackers, we're. We're really, really proud of the work we do for the community. And, you know, it's. Christmas is our big time of the year. Every year we will go to the. There's three county schools and go to contacts such as principals, assistant principals, parents. I mean, we're not a real big area down here. We're rural America and kind of like have some kids that may not get all the luxuries that some of the other kids get. And I mean, for example, last year we'll get a list of kids names and through some different types of fundraisers, what have you, this and that. We, I think last year was 76 kids that we had names for. And every kid, every single kid on my list, we were able to provide them with a coat, a toboggan, a pair of gloves, and some shoes. [01:17:15] Speaker A: Nice. [01:17:16] Speaker D: Now, now, there are some other little things. I mean, those are the necessities that the kids need, but it's not their wants. Okay. We try to accommodate all the wants we can, Short of xboxes and what have you. Like that. But you know, it, it's. It's really, really, you know, it's. [01:17:38] Speaker A: It. [01:17:38] Speaker D: It's gratifying to know that some kids that don't have quite the supported home. A lot of them may come from a single parent, what have you, but, you know, provide them kids with a little bit of happiness and makes everybody feel good. [01:17:51] Speaker A: Absolutely. And so, you know, obviously it's a big thing that you guys do around Christmas. Christmas. Besides, you know, working with these kids in these local schools, Are there any other specific charities that you're working with as well? [01:18:06] Speaker D: Absolutely, sir. If you don't mind, let me. I've just got part of them written down. This isn't all of them. [01:18:11] Speaker A: No, that's fine. Whatever. Whatever you have. I. I know these lists actually get really extensive for some of these groups. So we're. We're well aware of this. [01:18:19] Speaker D: I've got three pages of type list now and I've missed some of them. Just real quick, some of this stuff we have at. At the school that we're from, Oak hill, well, what's called a growing oaks program. And that provides a lot of kids that don't again, may not get as much food at home, doesn't have that financial support. A lot of donations go to it with canned goods, peanut butter cereals and what have you. And we will provide cases of food for every. It we even make every year. There's a story behind this, but every year we make a couple hundred dollar donation to the children's hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio. Okay. [01:19:07] Speaker A: Even though they're in Kentucky, they still need. Even though they're in. [01:19:10] Speaker D: Even though they're in Kentucky. Those were kids too. [01:19:12] Speaker A: Absolutely. [01:19:13] Speaker D: Those are kids. [01:19:15] Speaker A: Kids can't help where they're born. [01:19:16] Speaker D: Absolutely. And that all came about from sitting in a crowd with a guy from Cincinnati and at this. At the Cleveland ball game one time it was the game where chub ran to the river. I'm sure you guys can remember that. Y Y. Every year we provide a scholarship to a graduating senior. Now it is just a $200 scholarship, you know, for that particular kid. We've made donations to the Jackson county dog pound. That's kind of a fitting, fitting scene. We've bought every kid in school. Notebooks, crayons. I'm talking elementary school. Notebooks, crayons, what have you. What they may need. We have a band performer of the week supporting the marching band. We did that, started that back in 2019. Like I said, food drive. We purchased. We purchased some. A couple pairs of shoes for maybe a couple kids on the football team. They that, again, doesn't have maybe the financial support they needed to get the proper shoes to, you know, to compete, what have you. We sponsor a little league team in Oak Hill. The city pool in Oak Hill will have a free admission day for any kid that wants to go. We'll pay the admission to it. Our rec league. We like to give some land to the rec league. But our main. Our biggest. Biggest, I guess, benefit is the Christmas. Christmas for the kids. And at this time of year, we have been absolutely swamped. My wife and my daughter and there's other people, believe me, there's many, many people that volunteer, donate to this, you know, and a lot of people say, well, I'm not a Browns fan. I don't want to join. I said, listen, you don't have to be a Browns fan. We have a couple of my buddies. I know there's something wrong with it, but they're Brown or their Bengals fans and Steelers fans, but they donate every year because of where the money goes. Yeah. [01:21:18] Speaker A: You don't have to be smart to have a big heart, you know? [01:21:20] Speaker D: Absolutely not. You know, and what. I'm diehard. He said, jimmy, I can't join. I can't join. I'm not a. I'm not a Browns fan. I said, you don't have to be a Browns fan. He said, oh, yeah, you need to be a Browns fan. I said, no. I said, you don't need. I said, you don't have to have a parachute to jump out of a plane. I said, you don't have to be a Christian to go to church. You don't have to be a Browns fan to join the brownsbackers. But it helps. [01:21:48] Speaker A: Yeah. [01:21:49] Speaker D: Okay. Because when we do get together and we call them unofficial meetings at my garage behind the house, we've got a bar built out back in the TV and have some social gatherings. It helps to be a Browns fan. Okay. [01:22:04] Speaker A: Yeah. Well, I'm sure he goes and gets killed by you guys. It's just like he's. [01:22:09] Speaker D: He. [01:22:10] Speaker A: He comes in and he's like, well, his meetings are great until we start talking football. That everybody hates me. [01:22:16] Speaker D: Well, we overlook him. He's a good guy. [01:22:19] Speaker A: Yeah, That's, I guess, a polite way to do it. You just overlook him. [01:22:23] Speaker D: Yes, yes, absolutely, sir. [01:22:26] Speaker B: We appreciate you sharing that with us, Jim. I think, you know, that's one of the reasons that we really got into doing, you know, these Interviews. We, we every week we interview a brownsbackers chapter. And just the depth at which these groups, you know, not only root for the Browns and come together, you know, with some fellowship each week, but also support their local communities. And you guys are involved in a ton. So awesome job by you guys down there. [01:22:49] Speaker D: Thank you, sir. We really, we really, really appreciate, again, we're proud of the work we, you know, try to do for the community. [01:22:56] Speaker A: Yep. Absolutely. It sounds like all of was it Oak Hill and Jackson county are taken care of by the Jackson county brownsbackers. Yes, sir. Got it covered. So. [01:23:03] Speaker D: Yes, sir. [01:23:04] Speaker B: Jim, let me ask you, so did you grow up in Cleveland, Northeast Ohio? Have you always been down there and how did you become a Browns fan? [01:23:11] Speaker D: Sir, I am. I am. I've been here the last. I'm 60. I've been here 55 years. This is home. A couple of my older buddies. I've been a Browns fan. Probably, I don't know, 45, 50 years. What? Long enough to know better. You know, I don't know how old you guys are, but I live through the drive and I live through the Fumble and the Red Ride 88 and stuff. Said, hey, we'll be back. We'll be back, okay. And we call it blind loyalty. And as frustrating as it gets and this and that. Yeah, I get upset, too. And then I tell myself it's not worth and get mad about it's okay. And then Sunday rolls around and I. And you get beat and you're just mad, which we've got some season tickets. We've had season tickets for a long time now. But it's, it's, it's. It's frustrating. Hell, yes, it's frustrating. I mean, I'm not going to sugarcoat. [01:24:06] Speaker A: You, but at this point, you're invested, right? [01:24:10] Speaker B: You can't leave now. [01:24:12] Speaker D: I've got too much time and money invested in him to quit now. [01:24:16] Speaker A: Well, you know what's going to happen, right? Like I say, this all the time is the reason why no Browns fans leave it and they continue to just bang their head against the wall is because the year that you decide that you're done and you've had enough is going to be the year that something happens. And how pissed off are you going to be a fan that you didn't stick around to see the good times? [01:24:36] Speaker D: Nope. We're here, you know, ride or die. And I've told both my kids, gosh, one's golly N1, one's 39, I think once 32, something like that. Sorry, I don't know. My kids ages are too old now. [01:24:50] Speaker B: I told him after a while. [01:24:52] Speaker D: Yeah. The year the Browns make the Super Bowl, I will buy your ticket to the Super Bowl. We are going to. [01:24:59] Speaker B: Yes. [01:25:00] Speaker A: Oh, yes, we are. You heard it here first. Everybody else that's not in that family, so. [01:25:05] Speaker D: Well, I told them, I'll buy the plane ticket, the hotel and the game and Merry Christmas for the rest of your life. Because that's, you know, I think that's. [01:25:16] Speaker B: What we call a verbal contract, Jim. That's binding now. [01:25:19] Speaker D: It's binding. Put it out there. I will buy their ticket to the Super Bowl. [01:25:24] Speaker A: And I've said my entire life, if the Browns ever go to a Super Bowl, I will literally sell my vehicle. So I can. [01:25:30] Speaker B: Can go. Yep. [01:25:30] Speaker A: So. But I'd love to talk about, obviously, what you guys are doing in the charity work and everything else, because it's awesome and it's the reason why we interview all you guys. But I do want to. Unfortunately, we have to cut some of these interviews a little short, and I want to move on so we can talk some football real quick. [01:25:46] Speaker D: Yes, sir. [01:25:47] Speaker A: Obviously, the big news this year is Shador Sanders. He's. He's, you know, the. All the buzz around Cleveland is what everybody's talking about. Good, bad, or indifferent. What are your feelings? What. What seem to be the feelings with your club around Shador Sanders? There a lot of. Or are you guys hoping we go in a different direction next year? [01:26:06] Speaker D: Well, it's. If you ask the opinions of anybody around here, if you ask 10 people, you get 10 different opinions. Okay. [01:26:12] Speaker A: That's fair. [01:26:12] Speaker D: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Let me throw your mind out. I'm willing to give the kid a chance. And just based on this, I mean, I believe he's got some game to him. Okay. I really do. He's. Let's just call it. He's put in a bad situation right now. Now he's. He, you know, he's will finish the year, the last six, seven, eight games, whatever it might have been. And I don't believe in making excuses. Okay. With that being said, he's playing behind a backup offensive line. You know, you got four starters beat up, banged up. Hate to throw shade, but our receiving cores, not real good. [01:26:52] Speaker A: No. [01:26:53] Speaker D: I love Harold Fanning. I like the draft pick. I liked Harold. He's doing what he. He's doing Quinn, Sean. God, hope he gets healed up healthy, you know, for next year, what have you. But I think. I think we got something to build around right here. I really do you know it? In a perfect world, I'm going to liken him to my goodness. The Williams kid from Chicago. He come in the first year, struggled. Struggled a lot. They bring in Ben Johnson, who's, you know, one of the better offensive minds in football, and look what he's doing this year. You know, he's got, what, 10 and 4, 11 and 4, whatever. They look good, you know. Hey, and he struggled as a rookie. [01:27:38] Speaker B: Yep. [01:27:39] Speaker A: You know, I mean, on our show, I mean, I. I said I was pretty outspoken about it. I didn't think Caleb Williams was very good. [01:27:45] Speaker D: I didn't. [01:27:46] Speaker A: And it took the right coach in the right system to kind of bring the best out of him. And I think that's the problem. I think that's what we don't have here. So I guess I wasn't going to ask this question, but I'm going to ask you. [01:27:57] Speaker D: They don't. [01:27:58] Speaker B: Do you. [01:27:58] Speaker A: Do you think Kevin Stefanski comes back next year? [01:28:02] Speaker D: Do I think he does or do. [01:28:03] Speaker A: You want him to come back? Well, you can answer both those questions separately, so. [01:28:08] Speaker D: Well, as I've. In coaching, somebody's got to take the fault. Okay. I mean, it's. It's what I like to see him go on. I like Kevin as a person. I really do, but sometimes I just think. Think he doesn't. [01:28:27] Speaker C: He. [01:28:27] Speaker D: He's. Sometimes he's just not in contact with his players. And now, obviously, I'm not on the inside. I don't go to practice. I don't go to team meetings. I see what I see on tv, reading the paper, listen to a podcast, what everyone else thinks. I would like to see him bring in, you know, hey, let's get Ben Johnson from Chicago. He seems to be the hot thing right now. Okay. You know, bring in an offensive mind. And I'm not against a defensive coach. I mean, but just. And of course, hindsight, you know, you guys probably know this, but we had Mike Vrabel in our system here not too long ago. [01:29:08] Speaker B: Yeah. Yep. Yeah. [01:29:10] Speaker A: When he was here. Do everything you can to keep that man in the building. [01:29:14] Speaker D: Absolutely. I like his. He's. And I'm not saying he's an offensive coach, Benny Means. But he's. He believes in the word accountability. [01:29:24] Speaker A: I didn't even have to bring it up. [01:29:27] Speaker D: And sometimes I just don't think the players in Cleveland are held accountable. Sometimes I'm just not sure who's in charge. Okay. But, yeah, and we could go way back and talk about. We had two guys named Belichick and Saban on our coaching staff, too, but we didn't need them either. So that's a different. Different story. [01:29:49] Speaker A: Yeah. Yeah. So you kind of. I. I think we can read between the lines. I don't think you. You explicitly answered the question, but I think. I think I know where we stand. You're very good. You're. You're part of the Browns backers, so I know you guys have to stay. Right. [01:30:01] Speaker B: I mean. [01:30:01] Speaker A: I mean. [01:30:03] Speaker D: Yeah. I mean, I mean, we're going to. Hey, if they hired one of you two guys next year to be your head. Head coach, hell, I'd support you two guys. [01:30:11] Speaker A: Hell, yes. I like this. Let's do a tandem. Like, we're a package deal. Burning over sportscast for head coach. [01:30:18] Speaker B: The next head coach to the Cleveland Browns, the Burning River Sports. I love it. [01:30:22] Speaker A: This is the best thing I've ever heard. We will definitely take more chances and win more games than we're doing right now. [01:30:27] Speaker B: Well, I think just speaking the truth, I mean, I think you've identified. Right. There's a vacuum of leadership and accountability, and I think on the lines of shador. I liked how you said, I think he has some game to him. I mean, I think that's the best way to describe what we've seen so far is there's. There's glimmers. There's some kind of potential there, and it's. And it's just something you can't necessarily quantify. Quantify. And. And I don't know, this coaching staff is the right one to. To get out of him what we need. [01:30:52] Speaker D: Well, and. And if you want to go with accountability with. With Stefanski, I'll just go on upstop. And I don't know anybody down here as fans of Jimmy Haslam. Okay. It's just what it is, guys. [01:31:06] Speaker A: Yeah. [01:31:06] Speaker D: Hey, remember, you invited me on here? I'm a. I'm gonna tell you the truth. [01:31:10] Speaker A: Yeah, you better tell the truth, because that's what we. That's what we bring people on here for. [01:31:13] Speaker B: I think you're right. You're spying spot on there. The problem is we can't fire the owner. [01:31:17] Speaker A: Yeah. [01:31:18] Speaker D: Yes. As much as we'd like to, we can. [01:31:22] Speaker A: Yeah. It's. I. It's just the one thing that I always say is, is we do. On our show, we get a lot of people that do complain about the owner, and it's just. It's like Kenny said, like, you can't fire him. So for us, even though we rag on them here and there, and we. We like jokes, there's nothing you can do about it. So it's, it's the one thing where we try not to focus too much energy because it's not going to change. No matter what we want to do, it's not going to change. So. [01:31:46] Speaker D: No, sir, you are right. [01:31:47] Speaker A: We rather put more focus on like Kevin Stefanski not being able to do his job because that can change. [01:31:53] Speaker D: So, you know, the move to Brook Park. Let me interview you guys. What do you guys think about the move? [01:32:00] Speaker A: No way this is happening. This is Step brothers is happening. [01:32:03] Speaker B: We turn the deal. [01:32:04] Speaker A: I'm pretty excited about, I think we're all pretty excited about the Dome because, you know, I know there's a lot of football purists in Ohio that, in Cleveland, fans that love the, the elements, love the weather. But I mean, let's, let's be honest here. This is just the way things are going and I don't know if we've, you know, at what point are we in the show? We haven't addressed this yet, but we, we're going to talk here soon about Arrowhead. They just announced that the, the Chiefs are leaving Arrowhead and moving to Kansas City to do a dome stadium. So like it's another one of the stadiums, the outdoor stadiums. It's gone because, because as much as the elements kind of are nice and more of a nostalgic thing and people like that, this is a business and these guys want to make as much money as they can off their stadiums. They don't want a venue that, you know, you play however many times a year, you can't bring anything in. All during the off season, I don't know I'm for it. And I have young kids. I have a three year old and an eight month old right now. And the fact that, that as they get a little bit older and can go to games, I can go in December when we've lost, when we're 3 and 12, I can get a ticket for $7 and take them there and be comfortable. That excites me, that makes me happy because I can get them involved with football a lot sooner in their lives than I would have been able to otherwise. [01:33:23] Speaker B: And, and I would say for me personally, I would count myself as a, as a football, you know, purist and a traditionalist. I've always loved the fact that we play outside in Cleveland. You play on the lakeshore. The wind has always been a factor. The cold weather in December and January, not that we play in very often, but, but, but it wouldn't be a factor But I do also just think that it's. It's the evolution of the game. Right. The game is different today than it was in the 60s, 70s, and 80s, and it is more of a business than it ever has been. And to Ronnie's point, I think there's a lot of casual fans that are going to be interested and invested when they can go to a game in December in the cold and wear a T shirt. So, you know, would I love to see more snow games and cold games? Yeah, I love that as a football guy. But the reality is, in today's world, these stadiums aren't being built for tens of millions of dollars. They're being built for two and three billion dollars. In order for there to be any return on investment, it has to come in the form of a dome, because they have to be able to get use out of it all season long. And while it's maybe a detriment to Cleveland and the economic impact there, specifically to the city, I do think it's good, good for Brook Park. I mean, I've worked for, for a long time up in that area, and to see now new investment coming and kind of the urban sprawl that's going to, you know, gentrify the area a little bit and, and upscale a lot of the. The establishments around town and have new hotels and restaurants, like, those are all good things for Cleveland at large. But it's certainly, you know, there's a. There's a part of me that. That is the heart of a football fan that is sad about leaving the Lakeshore. [01:35:04] Speaker D: Hey, guys, if it was up to me, I'd just tear the stadium down and bring back Municipal. Okay, that was a man stadium right there. [01:35:13] Speaker B: Link fence. [01:35:14] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah, yeah. [01:35:15] Speaker D: You know, and, and some of the motor guys will, you know, you waited in line 15 minutes in the bathroom so you could pee on the wall. [01:35:23] Speaker A: Those are the good old days. I'm all for a piss wall. [01:35:26] Speaker D: I mean, yeah, you just peed the wall run down the floor and life was good. [01:35:31] Speaker A: Yeah, I'm for that. That should be a modern innovation. In the dome stadium, though. Like here, this is the piss wall. [01:35:38] Speaker D: But no, and then after the game, you went to the flats and had a party and life was good. [01:35:42] Speaker A: There you go. Jim. The only other question I would ask you regarding a. A dome stadium versus current stadium or open air stadium or whatever you want to call it is the argument that we get a lot is like, no, the elements will benefit Cleveland. At what point, like, I can legitimately count on one hand how many times the cold weather has actually benefited Cleveland in a game in my entire life. [01:36:09] Speaker D: It's a great theory. Yeah, it's a great theory, but, yeah, I mean, you say what you want, but regardless of who you're playing, if it's zero degrees, I'm pretty sure it's colder in hell on the other sideline, too. You know, they got to play in it. [01:36:22] Speaker A: And the fact of the matter is, we've had a lot of bad teams, so they usually lose. [01:36:28] Speaker D: One of the greatest games I've ever been to in Cleveland throughout all the years. Like I said back to Municipal was last year. Thursday night. [01:36:36] Speaker A: That was a good one. [01:36:37] Speaker D: Pittsburgh Steelers. The blizzard from hail hits in the third quarter, but the fourth quarter, it looked like you were sitting in a human snow globe. It was great. [01:36:47] Speaker A: And that was. That's one of the. The few on a single hand that I can count that it benefited the Browns. [01:36:54] Speaker D: Well, you're playing Pittsburgh. I mean, it's cold there, too. You know, it's what it is. But, you know, you got Jameis Winston running around back here in the snow and just rears back and says, hell with it. I know somebody's done her and just flings it down there and we catch them all. Okay? [01:37:08] Speaker A: That's the best kind of football. That's what we don't have enough of right now. That's what it was. [01:37:12] Speaker D: It was one of the most enjoyable games I've ever been to in Cleveland. But you talk about it, though. You know, you talk about a dome stadium. All right, let's see. Two weeks ago, I went to the Big Ten championship in Indianapolis and washed the high state in Indiana. Well, shoot, 72 degrees inside, controlled environment. It was. Yeah, it was nice. Don't get me wrong. It was nice. Yeah, it was nice, except my fight lost. And that's. [01:37:39] Speaker B: That's a whole other story we won't talk about. [01:37:41] Speaker A: They'll get redemption. It starts this weekend. [01:37:44] Speaker D: Yes, they will. [01:37:45] Speaker A: But. But listen, Jim, as. As much as I'd love to continue this conversation and keep talking, these interviews are supposed to be like 10 minutes, and. And this one's at 25. Not that we are against that. This has been a great interview, but I have two more questions, so I'm going to ask him now, who wins this weekend? Browns versus Steelers. And what's the final score? [01:38:09] Speaker D: Well, are you wanting me to bet with my head or my heart? Because I gamble. [01:38:16] Speaker A: I want you to tell me the truth. We talked about this earlier. You're here to tell the truth. [01:38:20] Speaker D: The truth. [01:38:21] Speaker A: If you can handle the truth, I want to know what it is you. [01:38:24] Speaker D: Can'T handle the truth. Okay. Hey, I'm going with Cleveland because we've beaten them the last two years, you know, year before Hopkins kicks a field goal 10 of the game to win it. Last year we beat him in the snow globe. This year, I'm going to tell you, I will tell you. We're going to go. We're going to go 1916. How's that? Browns win. [01:38:48] Speaker A: Nice. I like that you went with the interesting score, too. Like a lot of people go with the standard, like 21, 14, whatever. Like, I like that you went with 19, 19, 16. [01:38:56] Speaker D: Well, these two teams, you got missed extra points, safeties, and somebody going for two. Okay? [01:39:01] Speaker A: Yep. [01:39:01] Speaker D: Yep, brother. Seven, three out the door. We'll go 1916, brownies. [01:39:06] Speaker B: There's. There's not a lot that would redeem this season, but a win against Pittsburgh would at least feel good. [01:39:13] Speaker A: And you talk about. You said you'd like to give Shador Sanders a chance. If he beats Pittsburgh at the end of the year, that, that goes a long way to give him a chance next year. [01:39:19] Speaker D: Absolutely. And, and on a side note, which is our bright spot right now, you know you got Miles going for the second stack record. [01:39:25] Speaker A: Yep. [01:39:26] Speaker D: Which. Which we got some conspiracy theorists down here. Thomas not going to let it happen against him because he doesn't want him breaking TJ Watts record. So we're just going to double team Miles all night and, and, and throw to the right, not let Miles rush. I don't care. Miles goes, gets two or three tonight or Sunday. [01:39:45] Speaker A: Yep. Yeah, we'll. We'll talk about that later in the show, too, but I have him going for several. So. Yeah. Jim, listen, again, thank you so much for joining us. It has been amazing. This has been a great interview. And if we're ever down that way in Jackson county on a Sunday for a game, we will definitely stop in. Was It Scotty's on first? [01:40:05] Speaker D: Scotty's on first. It's in Wellston, which is a 20 minute drive from where we're at. They're in the northern part of the county. We're in the southern part of the county. Oak Hill is. But you guys have got my cell phone number. You look me up anytime you feel like it. Love to talk to you again. [01:40:20] Speaker A: Absolutely. Thank you so much. [01:40:23] Speaker D: Yeah, Ronnie, Keith, y', all, excuse me, Ronnie and Kenny, you guys take care and appreciate you. [01:40:28] Speaker B: Absolutely. [01:40:32] Speaker D: Hey, gang. This is Jim Sloan with the Jackson County Browns backers. And we really appreciate you listening to us on the Burning River Sportscast. Go. [01:40:45] Speaker A: Good time talking to Jim from the Jackson County Brownsbackers, huh? [01:40:49] Speaker B: Jim was great. They're involved in a crap ton down there. [01:40:52] Speaker A: I'm Jim. [01:40:53] Speaker B: I mean, look, we talked to a lot of Brownsbackers all year long, and they all do various charities and things, but, like, this one is. Was. Is heavily integrated into their local community, local school systems, a lot of charity here for the holiday season. So good on them. [01:41:07] Speaker A: That's what I said. Their whole community, a set just from them. [01:41:10] Speaker B: Yeah. Yeah. I mean, he just was going through a. He literally was like, I have three pages of charities that we work with and everything. [01:41:18] Speaker A: Oak Hill in Jackson County. [01:41:20] Speaker B: Yeah, everything from buying, you know, school supplies to. To clothes and coats and stuff for kids out there. I mean, that's. That's. [01:41:27] Speaker A: You. [01:41:27] Speaker B: You talk about this every week about the economic impact, but this is, like, direct impact to your community, which I think is super cool. [01:41:34] Speaker A: Yeah, absolutely. Great stories. That's why I love doing these. Just. Just these people that you fight, and it's just like a family thing for them. Like, their. Their family started the Brownsbackers group, and they've built it into what it is, and it's. It's phenomenal. [01:41:47] Speaker B: Yeah. And remember, all these are volunteer positions. [01:41:50] Speaker A: Right. [01:41:50] Speaker B: This is just people taking care of their community in addition to being Browns fans, which is the fun part of it, but, you know, gratifying to an extent to. To lend a helping hand to those in need. Jim also, very sharp guy. Yeah, like Jim, very thoughtful. Appreciated having him on. [01:42:07] Speaker A: Absolutely. With that, let's get into the Week 17 preview. This week, we've got the Steelers guys and Kenny. It's time for your cliff Notes. I'm not even taking any time to get into this. It's time for Kenny's Cliff Notes. [01:42:28] Speaker B: All right, Kenny's Cliff. I'm gonna keep this short. Here's Kenny's club notes. Mike Tomlin extends his streak of above 500 seasons to 19 years. That guy is pretty good. Even though the clowns in P Town want this guy fired. [01:42:45] Speaker A: Please fire him. We'll take him. [01:42:46] Speaker B: We'll take him. Aaron Rodgers hasn't had a good season, but he's been exceedingly average. Ranked 18th in the league in passing yards and 11th in touchdowns, but only seven picks on the year. Jalen Warren is another on the train. He's got talent, but is tied for just 19th in rushing yards this season. DK Metcalf is arguably their most talented weapon, but the Browns won't be Seeing him pending an appeal after he got loose on a fan this week in Detroit. So I guess we'll see 100 year old Adam Thielen and Calvin Austin the dead. [01:43:15] Speaker A: Did he actually turn 100? [01:43:17] Speaker B: I think he was 99. [01:43:18] Speaker A: Oh, okay. [01:43:19] Speaker B: But I rounded up. They've got big bodies at tight end and Darnell Washington, Pat Fryer move. And Johnny Smith on the defense. T.J. watt is still out and I won't tell him this to his face, but Cam Hayward has become a baby back crying about people being mean to him this season. [01:43:38] Speaker A: Why'd you need me? [01:43:39] Speaker B: Patrick Queen and Alex Highsmith are good. [01:43:41] Speaker A: Patrick Queen's pretty good. [01:43:43] Speaker B: They will probably fuck us up this week. And in the secondary, Kyle Duggar, Jalen Ramsey are studs. Look, bottom line is offense is man, the defense is pretty good. And this team's won three times as many games as the Browns have this year. And we're probably going to lose and probably lose badly. But they do have to play the game before we can take our losses. [01:44:02] Speaker A: Play to win the game before we. [01:44:04] Speaker B: Can take our loss and just move on. Just another nail in Kevin's coffin. That's all I got. Go Browns. [01:44:11] Speaker A: Very well done. And with each edition of Kenny's Cliff Notes, of course comes another edition of Ronnie Jam's. Matchups matter. All right, so R and James matchups matter. I got two matchups. You've heard these before but you know, here we are. Miles Garrett. Cuz I said he's going to stay on this until he gets a sack record. So Miles Garrett versus the offensive line for the Steelers. And I said the offensive. This is actually truly the offensive line because you've pointed out numerous times before that their whole game plan, they. They're on record saying this is that we don't give up sacks to Miles Garrett. We do everything we possibly can. And I give up sacks to Myers Garrett. [01:44:52] Speaker B: Nobody wants to be that footnote. [01:44:54] Speaker A: Yeah, but with that being said, I think he gets the sack record this week against Pittsburgh. I again, I know they key on him, but I have him getting three sacks this week to leave. No doubt. So three. [01:45:06] Speaker B: I'll go with boneside earlier. If, if Miles doesn't have three, the rest of that defense better damn well have three. Three or five. Yeah, I mean if they are doing everything in their power to not let Miles get back there, the rest of the defense should eat. [01:45:16] Speaker A: But I think he gets three and I, I think he might have him by halftime because I think he's just going to come out fired up. And like we're playing the Steelers and he's going for the sack record. [01:45:23] Speaker B: Miles just gets three sacks in the first half and then leaves. Yeah. Job is done. [01:45:28] Speaker A: Yep. And then my second matchup that matters. Shador Sanders vs. Kevin Stefanski's game plan. [01:45:37] Speaker B: This might be the most important matchup of all time. [01:45:40] Speaker A: Yeah. And I say this because when the Browns played the Steelers earlier this year, they gave Dylan Gabriel 52 pass attempts. Now, now, now, fast forward. We literally have no running backs. It's going to be mid-50s in December on Sunday. So I'm excited. Like, I like. And the reason I say it's versus this game plan, because traditional thinking would say we got no running backs. The weather's going to be good in December. We're going to air this thing out. It's what Kevin Stefanski loves to do. You're going to give Shador Sanders 52 pass attempts. And I'm all for it right now, but knowing Kevin Stefanski will probably go run heavy because, you know, smartest guy in the room. So that's why I say Shador Sanders versus Kevin's game plan. That and because every pass that he's going to throw is going to be probably under 210 yards unless Shador just does Shador things and throws the ball down the field. So in summary here, the Steelers are coming off a win against a solid Detroit squad. They've got a 9 and 6 record. You said their defense was. What? Meh. Did you call it? [01:46:47] Speaker B: Their offense was mad, but their defense is pretty good. [01:46:49] Speaker A: Well, their defense actually is number 28 in the NFL from a talent perspective. Fair. They're rundy. Defense is number 19. Their past defense is number 27. On offense, they rank overall number 27. Run game, 28. Pass game, 23. The Browns, on the other hand, were coming off a loss to the Bills. We've got a 3 and 12 record overall. We've still got the number two defense in the league. I don't really know how the fuck that happened, but we still have the number two defense in the league. Our run defense is number 14. It's taken a hit a little bit, but the past event is still number one. Cause nobody has to pass against us. [01:47:21] Speaker B: Yeah. I mean, Josh Allen for 118 yards. [01:47:23] Speaker A: Yeah. Offensively, still not good. Overall, number three. 30. Running game is number 29. Passing game is number 30. The Browns are awful. Kevin Stefanski is still the coach. Bubba Ventrone is still our special teams coordinator. The season's almost over. I don't know, Bone. How can we win this game. Oh, it's time for bone man's skeleton key to victory. [01:47:46] Speaker E: All right. 100 yard rusher, 100 yard. That is my key to victory. [01:47:52] Speaker A: Who the hell's going to run for. [01:47:53] Speaker B: 100 yards as a team? We're going to actual back as a back. [01:47:57] Speaker A: Oh, good God. We ain't winning this game. [01:48:00] Speaker E: I might talk about him more a little bit later, but he's my. He's my skeleton key to victory. What's his name? Raheem Sanders. He was a. I'll talk about him later. [01:48:11] Speaker A: But that's the one they call racket. [01:48:13] Speaker E: Yeah. [01:48:13] Speaker A: Yeah. [01:48:14] Speaker E: And he ran hard last game, so I would like to see more of him and we can establish the run somewhat, maybe help Shador out a little bit with the downfield passing game. A little more play action. Action. [01:48:25] Speaker A: So play action. Yeah, baby. [01:48:29] Speaker E: So that's my. That's my key to victory. [01:48:32] Speaker A: I like that we both pick up on the dumb things that like all of it. We just. Like you said something stupid. [01:48:37] Speaker B: He made a great point, but he said play action action. [01:48:40] Speaker A: What an idiot. [01:48:41] Speaker B: Point that out on air. [01:48:42] Speaker E: I kind of liked it. [01:48:43] Speaker A: Yeah, I liked it. Bon. I actually like this one. But we're. We're not going to have 100 yard rusher. Idiot. [01:48:48] Speaker E: It's happening. [01:48:49] Speaker B: I mean, in theory this would be important, right? If you're trying to take care of. [01:48:53] Speaker A: A young nostradam d the rest of the season. [01:48:56] Speaker E: So let's see the unexpected happen in this game. And that's what that is what it's going to be. [01:49:02] Speaker B: Expect the unexpected. [01:49:03] Speaker A: Yeah. What's the betting info today or this week? I should say. It's not. The game's not today. [01:49:08] Speaker B: Today I will tell you the betting info. Subject to change, I guess. Steelers -4 and a half over under 34 and a half. [01:49:17] Speaker A: Nice. And players to watch Bone. We'll go to you. I think you're. I know who you're going to say. [01:49:21] Speaker E: Yeah, I'm going with Raheem Sanders. He seems to be like he's going to be our bell Kel back, but who knows what they're going to do. I thought he ran really hard last game. Let's see what he does with a little more opportunity. He's kind of big. He's like 6 foot. Like any ranging between 230 and 230. I saw on his range of weight, you know, on different things. So I don't know what he actually weighs. But he. He's a bigger back. [01:49:43] Speaker A: He's a big guy. [01:49:43] Speaker E: He seemed to run hard. He. He's looking for a job in the NFL. I think he's re. He's. This is a rehearsal for every NFL team who's watching him play to get picked up next year. [01:49:53] Speaker A: So I don't think I've ever heard Bone talk this much about a player I don't know. Not since Dustin Hopkins. I love Raheem, so I. I'm pretty excited to see what Sanders did do well. [01:50:07] Speaker E: And not to mentioned, he's running behind a very crappy offensive line. [01:50:10] Speaker A: So that's true. [01:50:11] Speaker E: How hard he runs, how his vision is, we'll see. [01:50:15] Speaker A: Yep. I'm going to go next, Kenny. My player to watch is Miles Garrett because it has been since he's been getting close to their sack record, and it's just going to stay that way till he breaks it. So, Kenny, who's your player to watch? [01:50:26] Speaker B: If there's one thing you listen to. [01:50:28] Speaker A: The Burning river sports test for, it's Shador Sanders. [01:50:32] Speaker B: The same takes. [01:50:32] Speaker A: I would have to think that yours is Shador Sanders. [01:50:35] Speaker B: And over again. And this is one of the perils of, you know, a collaboration show where we kind of take our own notes and kind of marry them together on a show that we record with very little planning. [01:50:48] Speaker A: Are you kidding? [01:50:51] Speaker B: My planner to watch is tell my. [01:50:52] Speaker A: Wife that there's very little planning for this show because it takes a lot of damn time. [01:50:57] Speaker B: No, I mean there's planning for this show. [01:50:59] Speaker A: Just shut the hell up and tell us who your players are, the actual topics. [01:51:02] Speaker B: I mean, these are all our original thoughts, and we just come and splay them. So my player to watch this week, Raheem. Rocket Sanders. Oh, yeah. I'm going to echo Bone sentiment here. I know we have a very small sample size of Rocket Sanders. He's played in exactly two games this year. I think he had three carries in week one. [01:51:23] Speaker A: I just love that he's rocking. [01:51:24] Speaker E: I think he scored a touchdown week one. [01:51:26] Speaker B: I think he. I think he had a short yardage, like a goal line carry for a touchdown. And I don't want to get carried away because Rocket Sanders is not the future, you know, Bell Cowboy of the Cleveland Browns, rookie out of South Carolina. I like what I've seen in a small sample size. Again, he may never be the lead back, but right now he has an opportunity to earn himself a look at being a part of this roster next year. Specifically, Bones said his rehearsal for the whole league, I think it starts in Cleveland because he's here. Right. So you have a chance to earn a Spot here. He's. He's not these guys. But I alluded to this on Sunday, that he is just a violent inside runner. Reminds me the running style. Reminds me of a Frank Gore, a Marion Barber, Corey Dillon to an extent. Maybe he'll never be as good as those guys, but that's. It's the game that he plays. His ability just to. To create violence at the line of scrimmage. [01:52:22] Speaker E: Like that word violence. Couldn't agree more. [01:52:25] Speaker B: And it's just something the Browns haven't had this year, right? I mean, you've got Q and Dylan Sampson, who both kind of speedy, versatile guys, but they have struggled in gold to go situations, short yardage. We've done all this dumb shit with the wildcat and tight end handoffs. Like, you don't have a guy that has been able to just fight and churn out inside yards when you need one or two. And he's that type of back that I think if he plays well this week and next week, obviously with Q being out, maybe he finds himself a place on this Browns team going forward. Um, and, you know, especially if Q has to miss any time to start the season, you know, is he a guy that you can pair with Dylan Sampson for a couple of weeks until Q comes back totally healthy? And this. This next two weeks, I mean, are. Are a huge opportunity to see if he is that type of guy. And it would especially be nice too, if you can determine that. And you don't have to spend draft capital on a running back in the off season or even free agent allocation on running back to short up that position going into next year. So very small sample size. I know he may be nothing, could be a flicker in the night, but I am very encouraged, optimistic that I think this guy actually has some talent that could play. [01:53:34] Speaker A: And you start. I mean, if he does, then you start thinking about, we. We saw some out of Dylan Sampson. You saw some out of Quin, Sean. Now you got this guy, like, you're running back room three to look nice. [01:53:44] Speaker B: Running backs that, like, if you can move forward with these guys like that, that's. That's pretty cool. [01:53:49] Speaker A: And the fact that they're all rookies is fantastic because, yeah, young talent is always, always great. Next up here. Oh, wait, that's all our players to watch. I already. I already told you guys that Miles Garo is mine, so. Sorry. The same takes got me. Got me confused with that. Let's go ahead and get into. Can we talk about this? All right. We use this segment when one of us has something they feel needs to be talked about or explored further this week. Kenny. [01:54:24] Speaker B: The, the Jake Paul fight. [01:54:26] Speaker A: Yeah, I mean, I'm with you. I knew what was coming. But I just wanted to ask you to say, are you just talking about the fact, like, what the hell are we even doing here anymore? [01:54:34] Speaker B: Well, the first thing that caught my eye was there was a promoter, what's his name here, Nakisa Bedarian. I don't know who he is. I'm sure people in MMA and boxing circles probably know who the guy is, but basically came out after the fight and said the reality is Jake lost because of the size difference, not because of the skill difference. So this was the first thing that caught my eye because what the hell were you expecting? ANTHONY Joshua is 6, 6 and 2:50. [01:55:00] Speaker A: Well, before we even get there, I just want to say it was the size difference and not the skill difference. Did you watch the same thing? Because it looks like they were, they were in two different classes and not weight classes. Like two different, different class of boxer. Like, one looked like surgical and the other one looked like he was just like, I don't know. Hopefully something lands. [01:55:22] Speaker B: Yeah, I just. This guy, you know, for the most part, a lot of these fights have been against like other athletes or washed up guys. I mean, the Mike Tyson thing, like this is a guy that is, is 36, I think, or 38. Like he's still the end of his prime in terms of peak physicality and actually, actually is in the sport. So I don't know why this was. [01:55:44] Speaker A: Former world heavyweight champion. [01:55:46] Speaker B: I don't know why this was a surprise to anyone, that if you keep punching people that are bigger than you, that you might eventually get a broken jaw. Like if you, he, if you lost money on this, like, I don't know, like, what did you, what did you expect that Jake Paul was going to somehow beat this guy? Like, the guy outweighs him, he's longer than him, he's a better fighter than him. I just, it, it just didn't, it didn't shock me that this happened. And it seemed like there was a lot of people that were like, oh, I can't believe this finally happened. [01:56:15] Speaker A: I'm glad it did. [01:56:16] Speaker B: But my other. Sorry boy. [01:56:18] Speaker E: No, I'll have to go watch it. I heard it was pretty fun to watch Jake Paul get. [01:56:21] Speaker A: Well, he did, he did take take the fight longer than I expected. But again, that goes back to my. This whole thing where like, it wasn't a skill different. Like, did you watch the same thing? Because to me it was Jake Paul running around ring for however long, and the other dude sitting there like, I'm a real boxer, so I know you're just gonna get tired here soon. Then I'm gonna beat the shit out of you. [01:56:40] Speaker B: And it's not to take. [01:56:41] Speaker A: And that's exactly what happened. [01:56:42] Speaker B: It's not to take anything away from Jake Paul because I think when this all started, it was. This was like some kind of sideshow. And to be fair, like, he's got himself in great shape. He's done a lot of training and has afforded himself well in. In these fights. I think. What is he, 12 and 1 or something? As a professional fighter? Professional, probably used loosely. He's a YouTuber turned boxer. [01:57:05] Speaker A: This is one of the few that was like an actual sanctioned fight. [01:57:08] Speaker B: Yeah. And there's something to like, he's brought in more eyes to the sport of boxing. But at this point, I'm also like, especially after the Tyson fight, which was just probably one of the worst things I ever saw, you know, Credit to Mike Tyson for getting in shape to fight the guy again. But like 60 years old, like, it is. It is what it is. But I just like. [01:57:29] Speaker A: Like, to me, the boxing commission needs investigative for that. Like, why would you let him do the. 60 years old? [01:57:33] Speaker B: Just to me, the novelty on this was. Is worn out. Like, I had zero interest in watching this fight. I wasn't surprised by the outcome. And to me, it has become a circus now. Like it was in the beginning, because who is. Who's still spending money and betting on that? Like, guys, what are these? What are we doing here? [01:57:53] Speaker A: I don't. [01:57:54] Speaker B: It just doesn't make any sense. Bet on everything. [01:57:56] Speaker A: I don't know. I mean, I'm with you. I'm just kind of over this. Like, really. I was. The only reason. Reason that I was even somewhat paying attention was because I just wanted to see Jake Paul get his ass beat. And it finally did it. Finally. Everybody. I'm like, it's not as satisfying as I thought it would be. So just. I'm over it, I guess. [01:58:14] Speaker B: Personally, I'm just like, can this just be the end of this thing? [01:58:16] Speaker A: I'm with it. Just. [01:58:17] Speaker B: I don't. I don't have any interest in seeing Jake Paul fight anyone else. [01:58:22] Speaker E: So what you guys are telling me it wasn't that interesting to watch? [01:58:24] Speaker A: I mean, it was fairly interesting. [01:58:26] Speaker B: It went five or six rounds and I think. So he. He put up a fight. [01:58:30] Speaker A: Nobody expected him to go anywhere near that long against this guy. And that. That's What I was talking about earlier is, is this guy, I think went into it was like, I'm just gonna let him wear himself out. Because it was apparent like from the get go that Jake Paul's whole strategy was like, I'm gonna not get too close and I'm gonna try to, I. [01:58:47] Speaker B: Can'T get punched by this guy because I will die. [01:58:49] Speaker A: And so he was running like non stop and the guy was just kind of moving forward, forward slowly. [01:58:54] Speaker B: And when he finally tagged him, I mean, he, he tagged him. I mean, I think he broke his jaw in two places. [01:58:59] Speaker A: He did three, three titanium plates I think is what it took to put his jaw back together. [01:59:05] Speaker B: But I just don't know why A, it was surprising and be like, why are people still watching this? [01:59:09] Speaker A: I don't know. [01:59:10] Speaker B: You know, to the extent that he's brought more eyes into the sport of boxing, like I, it's almost like when they bring the Rock back or Ric Flair to wwe. Like if you're a guy that's doing this day in and day out and you're churning and you're putting, you're, you're, you're fighting multiple times a year to make a living doing this, and you're making, you know, a hundred thousand, two hundred thousand dollars a year as a pro boxer and Jake Paul can come in and in an exhibition match make $50 million, like it's, it's almost a slap in the face to the professionals that do make the sport. Yeah. When you can just bring in these sideshow acts and make all this money doing it. And I understand, I mean, good, like, good on him. He's building his brand. Like it's all a money game at the end of the day. But I just don't know, like, why are we still spending money on this whole thing? It's just, it's crazy to me. And I also don't understand. My final point on this, I don't understand is why do all these celebrities and former athletes decide at the end of their athletic career? You know what? I think I'm going to take up fighting people for a living. [02:00:07] Speaker A: Herschel Walker, the best time to do it. [02:00:09] Speaker B: Greg Hardy, CM Punk. Like, what are these guys like? Like, I think what I want to do for the rest of them for my retirement is get my ass kicked for a living. [02:00:18] Speaker A: I think they assume you get old man strength, but they forget that you also get old man stamina. So I just don't know. [02:00:25] Speaker B: Like, and why do we love it? Why did we pay to see Frank Gore in A fight. [02:00:30] Speaker A: I love seeing old athletes whoop the out of each other. [02:00:33] Speaker E: Testosterone replacement therapy. [02:00:36] Speaker B: I don't know. [02:00:37] Speaker A: I can't just. A bunch of Neanderthals understand it. [02:00:39] Speaker B: And that's really what it is, right? It's like that Neanderthal like from the beginning of time. [02:00:45] Speaker A: We love to see each other, see people beat each other up. [02:00:48] Speaker B: We want to see two people fight to the death. [02:00:49] Speaker A: I mean the gladiator. Am I right? [02:00:53] Speaker B: Fair enough. [02:00:54] Speaker D: Yeah. [02:00:55] Speaker B: Anyway, I just. [02:00:56] Speaker A: I'm pretty sure that was the first sport was just like cavemen getting together and hitting each other with clubs. [02:01:00] Speaker B: Well, that was real. [02:01:02] Speaker A: Yeah, see. [02:01:04] Speaker B: They weren't fixing those. [02:01:05] Speaker A: I'm done talking about this. Let's go ahead and get into King of the North. [02:01:08] Speaker B: North. [02:01:21] Speaker A: Sorry buddy, had to cut you off there. You got. You're getting crazy. [02:01:24] Speaker B: I don't care. Whatever. Jake. [02:01:25] Speaker A: Paul, in case anyone doesn't know by now, this is our year long AFC north pickup competition at the end of the season, whoever comes in last place gets punished. In the preseason two years ago, Kenny had a gross of eggs thrown at him by fans. The munil before a game in the preseason last year, Kenny had his hair and beard shake shaved clean off. A few weeks ago for losing this past season, Kenny donned the pads for the first time in almost 20 years and got hit three times by our guy, Big John Hughes. Kenny, how'd that feel? [02:01:49] Speaker B: Look the first time your mom didn't take it up the ass and we're stuck with you. Whoa. [02:02:02] Speaker A: I don't know if I can continue. [02:02:07] Speaker B: Finish him. [02:02:07] Speaker A: Is that how it felt getting hit by John Hughes? Jesus Christ. In this year, the loser, AKA Kenny. Yeah, that's. You will be getting a wax. Kenny, are you excited to get your butthole shaved? Not just shaved wax. That hair ain't coming back. At least for a few months. [02:02:26] Speaker B: I hope it never comes back. It'd be great actually if it was just clean forever. [02:02:29] Speaker A: So you are excited. [02:02:30] Speaker B: Maybe. Maybe I'll. Maybe I'll take it as a step further. I'll get it later. Lasered out this time. [02:02:33] Speaker A: Oh, nice. [02:02:34] Speaker B: Are you gonna get butthole lasering while. [02:02:37] Speaker A: You'Re getting the Brazilian wax? Should we get your. Your butthole bleached? [02:02:43] Speaker B: I'm not opposed to that idea, but I don't feel like. I don't feel like that's. It's fair that I also have to get a butthole bleaching. [02:02:49] Speaker A: It'd be your choice, but. [02:02:51] Speaker B: But I. I am mildly looking forward to just having a clean butthole. Not that it's dirty. But, you know, this is where. [02:03:01] Speaker A: This is where things go in King. Go ahead and get into this. Not that. First things first. I want to remind everyone that Bone is the reigning defending king of the north. Talking about bones and butth, you just. [02:03:15] Speaker B: Stop and think, how did we get here? How many times a specific sentence has been uttered in human history? Like, all of human history. Like, how many times has someone said, I'm mildly looking forward to having a clean butthole? Like, how many other people have said that exact. [02:03:28] Speaker A: Probably quite a few, I would say. [02:03:29] Speaker B: You think? [02:03:30] Speaker A: Yeah. Also, Kenny, you're a clown. Let's remind everyone of the current records. After week. What is it? 16. After week 16, Bone. 33 and 18. John and I at 32 and 19, Kenny. Or 23 and 28 and officially the loser. So let's get into this week's games. Don't really matter because, Kenny, you lose. I guess we got to see who wins. King of the North. That should be what we're all striving for. But we just strive not to lose here. So we're like Kevin Stefan ski. Anyways, Cincinnati host the Cardinals. I'll go ahead and start. I've got Cincinnati Cardinals. They suck ass and they're coming to. To Cincinnati in cold weather. So I've. I've got Cincinnati. Bone, who you got? [02:04:13] Speaker E: Cincinnati. [02:04:15] Speaker A: Kenny, who you got? [02:04:17] Speaker B: Cardinals. [02:04:18] Speaker A: You're still picking. [02:04:19] Speaker B: What do you. [02:04:20] Speaker A: You're supposed to be going for 500 at this point because you haven't been on over 500. 500 ever in this competition. You finished 500 once. [02:04:26] Speaker B: I still think wrong. I still think I was over 500 early years. But you're a. I, I, I'm still trying to make it respectable. So. Cardinals. [02:04:34] Speaker A: All right, next up, we got the Baltimore Ravens traveling to Green Bay. [02:04:39] Speaker E: Bone, I'm gonna go Green Bay. [02:04:45] Speaker A: Thank you. [02:04:48] Speaker B: I'm go last. [02:04:50] Speaker A: Oh, you're gonna go last because I forgot about this whole part of the whole thing. So I'm going Green Bay as well. The Ravens, I'm pretty sure, are going to be without Lamar Jackson. Snoop Huntley finished the game this last time, and the Ravens aren't that good this year. They don't have a defense now. They don't have an offense. So, Kenny, who you got? [02:05:06] Speaker B: Who's Green Bay playing? [02:05:08] Speaker E: Baltimore. [02:05:09] Speaker B: I'll go Baltimore. [02:05:10] Speaker A: Oh, okay. The opposite of us. And then finally, only three games. That also doesn't work in your favor, Kenny. So the Browns host the Steelers. Bone, who you got? [02:05:24] Speaker E: Really bad take on the Bernie river sports Cast was that the Browns would sweep the Steelers this year. [02:05:29] Speaker B: Who made that? [02:05:30] Speaker A: Take that. [02:05:31] Speaker E: That was me. [02:05:31] Speaker B: I said that he owned up to. [02:05:34] Speaker E: Has not gone well, and I just can't. I think I did pick them to win last time, and I can't do that this time. [02:05:39] Speaker A: And they got humped. They lost. [02:05:41] Speaker E: No, I'm. I'm picking the Steelers. [02:05:42] Speaker B: Who? Who. [02:05:43] Speaker A: What's this? What's the score? [02:05:45] Speaker E: Oh, Steele. Steelers 23, Browns 13. [02:05:53] Speaker A: All right. [02:05:56] Speaker E: No, I'm sorry. This is bad. Podcasting. Steelers 27, Browns 23. I think our offense is going to do some stuff. I think Shador is going to do some stuff. [02:06:07] Speaker B: Notable difference there. [02:06:08] Speaker A: Steelers 27, Browns 23. [02:06:11] Speaker E: Yeah. [02:06:12] Speaker A: Okay, I'll go next. This is going to surprise everyone. I'm going with the Browns in this one because I don't give a shit if Kenny can't beat me. So it doesn't matter. [02:06:21] Speaker B: You don't even want the crown. You don't want to try to win. [02:06:25] Speaker A: Let me finish. [02:06:25] Speaker B: Okay. [02:06:26] Speaker A: I think there's a chance that Shador Sanders gets left, left, left, left, gets left in Cleveland, gets let off the leash here, and we see a big game out of him. I'm talking, like, 350 plus yards. So I think the Browns win, and I'm going to go 27. 26 Browns. And now it's up to you, my friend, who you got in this one? Oh, and by the way, for my Shador Sanders prediction, I just want to say wrists up, wrists up. And while we're on that subject, our good boy Kenny here that we've been shitting all over through King of the north, he bought us these really nice timepieces for Christmas this year. The first time in my life that I've ever been respected by Kenny. So. [02:07:12] Speaker E: Yeah. Thank you, Mr. Thunder. [02:07:13] Speaker A: Yeah, thanks, mister. [02:07:14] Speaker B: I told you your mom didn't take. [02:07:15] Speaker D: It at the end. [02:07:16] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah. I almost had to shut this. This part down because you said that, but, you know, I went with it. It's still pretty cool. Thanks. Thanks, guy. I still hate you. Who. Who are you picking for this? [02:07:29] Speaker B: Merry Christmas. Browns 4138. [02:07:33] Speaker A: Browns 4, 1, 3, 8. [02:07:35] Speaker B: I like that shootout on the lake. [02:07:38] Speaker A: And just kind of back to my. My timepiece reference. And. And you. What you did for us. Like, we're like, you know, like the quarterbacks always buy the lineman or whatever gift. Like, I feel like we're part of that club now. [02:07:51] Speaker B: Are you my lineman? [02:07:53] Speaker E: I feel like a lineman. [02:07:54] Speaker A: This is a little backwards. You're the big guy. [02:07:56] Speaker B: Here. [02:07:56] Speaker A: But you know, we appreciate it nonetheless. [02:07:59] Speaker B: Down 99 pounds. But still fat. [02:08:01] Speaker A: Still fat. And with that, let me remind everybody, call the burgers. Leave your hot takes on the hot take hotline. Call Kenning fat. [02:08:10] Speaker B: Yeah, do that. Tell Ronnie is my text of the ass. [02:08:13] Speaker A: Here we go again. Thank you. Don't forget these are hot takes. We want hot takes. [02:08:19] Speaker B: Only the hottest takes survive. That was a mess but who gives a you know that takes us To. [02:10:03] Speaker B: Ken, you're a mess. Facts for days. [02:10:17] Speaker A: What do you got for us? [02:10:18] Speaker B: Facts for these. I have some facts. [02:10:19] Speaker A: Let's do them quick. [02:10:20] Speaker B: Number one, these are Christmas facts. [02:10:24] Speaker A: At least they're not facts about my mom. [02:10:27] Speaker B: That should be a fact. Number one. The first artificial Christmas tree was made from aluminum. No. Wrong. [02:10:36] Speaker E: Rubber. [02:10:36] Speaker B: Not a fact. None of those things are facts. It was made, though, from dyed goose feathers. Yes. Dyed goose feathers. The oldest artificial Christmas Christmas tree bait baits dates back to the early 1800s in Germany, in the Deutschland, and was made from dyed goose feathers attached to wires. Fortunately or unfortunately, I don't know one of those. These have been phased out in today's society. However, artificial Christmas trees do still exist, but they are made with materials such as pvc. [02:11:08] Speaker A: I was wondering why I couldn't find a dyed goose feather tree this year. [02:11:12] Speaker B: None left. Number two, the original script for. We just watched this movie last night with a bunch of kids. That sounds weird. The. The Santa Claus. [02:11:23] Speaker A: Tim. He was gonna murder Santa Claus. [02:11:26] Speaker B: Thank you. You ruined the fact. [02:11:27] Speaker A: Tim Allen's characters. I know this one. [02:11:29] Speaker B: Scott Calvin actually shot and killed Santa Claus, believing him to be a burglar. He was being burgled, but executives at Disney changed it to a false because they didn't want to start a children's movie with a murderer. The darker comedic concept had Tim accidentally causing Santa's death, which led to him becoming the new Santa, but was deemed far too intense for a family film and they opted for the iconic Rufall instead. In fact, that was really what draw. Tim Allen drew him into the script. [02:11:57] Speaker A: He fought to keep it. [02:11:58] Speaker B: He thought it was hilarious. He was like, what better way to start a children's movie than by me murdering Santa Claus clause? This is hilarious. [02:12:05] Speaker A: I saw it. [02:12:07] Speaker E: He's a true, true comedian today. [02:12:09] Speaker A: The reason why I knew this, because I saw an interview with him not too long ago and he's like, no, I. I fought hard to keep that. And they said, absolutely not. [02:12:16] Speaker B: He really wanted to keep it in there. [02:12:17] Speaker A: Yeah. [02:12:18] Speaker B: So, number three. [02:12:19] Speaker A: Ah, thanks for ruining my fact. Sometimes I get them right. [02:12:23] Speaker B: Number three. [02:12:24] Speaker A: I know a lot of things. A lot of useless things. [02:12:26] Speaker B: You don't know anything. You know nothing. [02:12:28] Speaker A: I know more than you know. That's for sure. [02:12:29] Speaker E: You know nothing. [02:12:30] Speaker B: Jon Snow from 19, from 1659. I can't remember. A long time ago to 1681. [02:12:38] Speaker A: Oh, good years. [02:12:39] Speaker B: Anyone caught making Mary in the colonies would face a fine. [02:12:44] Speaker A: Don't ever make Mary. [02:12:45] Speaker B: Where I could see the Massachusetts Bay Colony created the penalty for Keeping Christmas. It was thought that such festivals as were superstitiously kept in other countries were great. Dishonor to God and of offense to others. The penalty for breaking the law. [02:13:03] Speaker A: Dishonor on you. Dishonor on your cow. [02:13:05] Speaker B: The penalty for breaking the law was five shillings. By the revolutionary war, the day had so little significance that the congress even held their first session on December 25, 1789. Christmas wasn't even proclaimed a federal holiday for almost another session century, Proving that the Grinch's attitude toward the holiday was alive and well long before he was. [02:13:28] Speaker A: Wow. So it's basically just Congress day is Christmas. [02:13:32] Speaker B: Essentially. [02:13:33] Speaker A: Yeah. [02:13:33] Speaker B: Yeah. Bone probably could tell us a little bit about the. [02:13:35] Speaker E: Well, I'm just thinking. Didn't watch the Haitians on Christmas Eve. You know, it was like the big crossing of the Delaware. [02:13:44] Speaker B: Yeah. [02:13:44] Speaker E: And then it was like on Christmas. So it was like unheard of to get attacked on, you know, on that day. I feel like that's like a. Maybe a story we're told as kids, like to bring about the significance of that battle or whatever. [02:13:57] Speaker B: Well, I think by 1789. By the 17. By the. By the time of the revolutionary war, it was still. There was still some tradition and celebration. It wasn't illegal at that point. [02:14:06] Speaker E: Well, he was attacking the Hessians, which were like the German mercenaries. So it might have been more significant for them. [02:14:12] Speaker B: That's true. [02:14:13] Speaker E: The colonists. So that I guess a of lot. [02:14:14] Speaker B: Of the yuletide stuff comes from German culture to kind of start here. [02:14:18] Speaker E: Sure. [02:14:44] Speaker A: It's more the shitting plant. [02:14:45] Speaker B: The Germanic word for mistletoe literally means dung on a twig. Was also an ancient symbol of fertility and virility. The druids considered mistletoe an aphrodisiac. So it's not actually for kissing. [02:15:00] Speaker A: It's for fucking mistletoe, Nature's most powerful aphrodisiac. [02:15:05] Speaker B: Yak.
